I have my “very own Louis Gommert” living right next door to me:

Want to laugh? Louie Gommert reminds me of my next door neighbor….who, by the way, wondered over to my house yesterday and stood in my driveway, staring at the ass end of my car. I was in my husband’s office and happened to notice some guy just standing there…I said, Why is that guy just STANDING in our driveway? I think it’s the crazy neighbor from next door!”

My husband opened the window and basically asked WTH? The guy muttered something about old people (he IS one) and the fact that they (a bunch of old people) had managed to put up 6 cameras up a palm tree and were SPYING on us. OH DEAR! Told my husband that he had 6 hours of video on the cameras in the palm tree….wanted to let us know to be careful. Good Lord.

Anyway…THAT guy reminds me of Goober, I mean Gommert…crazy assed conspiracy theorist wacko….and stupid to boot. Paranoid schizophrenic, more like.

    • February 7, 2012 at 11:10 pm

You be careful. Inform the police about this nut spying on you. Loons like this back away when the cops show up at their doorstep.

      • 42 desertflower
        February 7, 2012 at 11:22 pm

amk…I don’t think HE’S spying on me…he thinks there are secret cameras hiding in the palm trees and ‘someone”(the old people) are spying on me….he’s such a freaking fruitloop. One summer, he had a HUGE hive of bees living in the side of his house….it got to be so bad that they were swarming into my yard and attacking us when we swam….I worried about the dog being outside and of course i worried about us. Wouldn’t have cared, but we have killer bees here. Trust me….they are NOT nice!

You should have heard THAT conversation I had to have with him.He didn’t even realize there were a million bees in his house!

    • 43 Cindy Sweatt
      February 7, 2012 at 11:19 pm

That sounds like a threat. You need to be careful. He has no right to do that. Call the police.

    • February 7, 2012 at 11:21 pm

Seriously desertflower, take that to the police – right now.

        • February 7, 2012 at 11:33 pm

I know you do desertflower, I just hate the idea of you being bothered by this creature, and worry about it. I’m sure there’s a 99% chance he’s harmless, but maybe you should, at least, have a quiet word with the police, even just to have them check him out?

            February 8, 2012 at 12:01 am

I couldn’t agree more Chips! Too many bad things happen when people dismiss “crazy” people because they didn’t take them seriously. Please be safe df, contact the police and let the professionals decide whether this guy is harmless.

          February 7, 2012 at 11:37 pm

df, he also sounds like he may have some mental health/ aging/ alzheimer’s issues. Does he live alone? Of course, you and your family’s safety is first and foremost. That guy sounds like he needs some serious assistance, be it law enforcement or mental health help.

            February 8, 2012 at 12:12 am

I think his mom lives with him. I’ve never met her, but my husband said she’s rather nice. I think that she lives with him to keep an eye on him…he must have wondered off yesterday when she wasn’t looking..isonprise, I think that he has all the things you mentioned…pretty much a hermit…until he gets loose.

Promise I’ll stay safe. I have a family to think of…especially my kids.

              February 8, 2012 at 12:37 am

I’m guessing the police are aware of him already. Often if a person of special needs has lived long enough in an area, and given that this man still lives with his mother, the police usually know the movements, see them walking in the neighborhoods, shopping at the local stores. I do agree with Chips tho, quiet visit to the precinct just to mention the incident is self-supporting. And if there is any genuine threat, they appreciate the heads up.

BREAKING: MILITARY COUP OUSTS MALDIVES CLIMATE HAWK MOHAMED NASHEED | The first democratically elected leader of a 100-percent Muslim country, President Mohamed Nasheed has been ousted in a military coup by supporters of the 30-year dictator Maumoon Gayoom. President Nasheed, who has led democratic reforms and mobilized his island nation about the existential threat of climate change, is now under house arrest by security forces loyal to Gayoom.

It’s only 9:30 here in Colorado. Repubs are old and it takes them a long time to count. Actually I think you are correct. I would not put it past them to fix the votes. In my county the repubs took over the school board-three months later voted in vouchers-now the school board came out and endorsed Mitt Romney for President! They don’t even hide their Repub agenda. We also have 4 big huge Morman churches all in one county. Just saying.

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Secretary of Energy Steven Chu announced today plans to launch a new Energy Innovation Hub for advanced research on batteries and energy storage with an investment of up to $120 million over five years. The hub, which will be funded at up to $20 million in fiscal year 2012, will focus on accelerating research and development of electrochemical energy storage for transportation and the electric grid.  The interdisciplinary research and development through the new Energy Innovation Hub will help advance cutting-edge energy storage and battery technologies that can be used to improve the reliability and the efficiency of the electrical grid, to better integrate clean, renewable energy technologies as part of the electrical system, and for use in electric and hybrid vehicles that will reduce the nation’s dependence on foreign oil.

Mitt Romney is attacking new Affordable Care Act
guidelines that require most insurance providers to
    cover contraceptive services, accusing President
Obama’s administration of “using Obamacare to
impose a secular vision on Americans who believe
that they should not have their religious freedom
    taken away.”
But the facts tell a different story. Just as he
criticizes federal health reform based on the law he
passed in Massachusetts, Mitt Romney is attacking the
President for providing women with the same access
to contraception and preventive health care services
Romney did as governor. Here’s a look at how
    contraception coverage compares under the
Affordable Care Act and the Massachusetts law
    Romney stood behind.

A couple of random thoughts about The Ed Show:

    – Please, Ed, do not use this term again: ” … with Gingrich bringing up the rear.” Thank you.

    – Mayor Rybak of Minneapolis, the Vice Chair of the DNC, is a great spokesman for the President! He also kept saying Santorum’s victory speech tonight was “clueless” – LOVED IT.

    • 70 utaustinliberal

Mayor R.T. Ryback is AMAZING. He knows his facts and stats like the back of his hand. Just like Gov. Martin O’Malley of Maryland, he’s soft spoken but lethal against repubs. Everytime I’ve watched him, I’ve come away with a smile on my face. He’s a bloody wonderful surrogate for President Obama and I say three cheers for him. The Dems need to send him out as often as they can.

I caucused tonight and I voted for Obama! Vote was unanimous. Ha! Since I live in a red area, the group was small but intelligent. The poor Repubs were in the building next door. They had no one decent to vote for so they settled for Santurum. Poor them……I’m sure it was an inspirational vote they will remember and cherish for the rest of their lives….not!

    http://theplumline.whorunsgov.com/opinions/obamas-luck-gets-better/2012/02/07/gIQAmoOUxQ_story.html

Obama suddenly seems to be enjoying himself quite a bit, and no wonder: He just might be the luckiest man alive.

At the last possible moment to save his reelection, the economy is beginning to hum, as evidenced by Friday’s jobs report. And Obama’s Republican opponents are shaping up to be as formidable as, well, marshmallows. While Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum are making each other unelectable, the president is singing Al Green, congratulating Super Bowl winners, playing with science projects, raising obscene amounts of campaign cash and watching his poll numbers soar.

          February 8, 2012 at 12:24 am

Still, I am not sure “luck” is the correct word. President Obama is vastly more intelligent, more highly qualified, and more deeply visionary than any world leader we have seen in a very long time. A very long time. More than mere luck, the tide of history is turning in his favor because he is just, because he solidifies rather than separating us. Because he IS us. Because he knows it is not about him. And his enjoyment, such as it may be, but I think it is JOY, arises from being persistent in the face of odds which would destroy a lesser Soul. His heart is pure, his intention is not a selfish one. He has stayed the course, unwavering in his trust and in his belief that we are greater together. IMHO.

President Obama “makes things happen”. When you know what you want and know how to achieve your goals, luck has nothing to do with it. I think we was pleasantly surprised what he put into place the last three years are finally taking off.

    • 86 bonkers
      February 8, 2012 at 12:28 am

That is such a dishonest article. that writeer milbank should be ashamed of hisself. he said,”In politics, it’s better to be lucky than good, and Obama has come into an unexpectedly large quantity of luck. Five straight monthly drops in the unemployment rate have boosted consumer confidence and stock markets. And, while Obama does nothing more than sit and watch, his opponents are alienating the electorate.”

luck? sit and watch? President Obama has been working his tail off to make those thing happens and the numbers would be evin better if the republicans weren’t try to stop everything he did. Remember early in his presidency when they were trying to make the story be that PBO was working to hard!!! luck has nothing to do with it! i can’t believe how racist so many of these writers are!!!

    • February 8, 2012 at 2:51 am

It’s not “luck”. It’s the result of three years of back-breaking, hair-graying, wrinkle-inducing, heart-wearing hard work. If people had been patient (and many outside of the media were), then you would have known that good things would eventually come around. President Obama deserves recognition for his unfailing hard work, and it shouldn’t be passed off as “luck”, or as a result of a poor pack of opponents. He’s just excellent.

ok, enough with the damn glitter-bombs people. It’s ridiculous and there is no need to make Romney seems sympathetic at all. Plus he has Secret Service protection now and one of the glitter-bomber is gonna get tackled.

Darn even i felt bad for Romney, dude looked jolted. Did anyone else see that?

    • February 8, 2012 at 2:56 am

Yeah – I don’t like those glitter bombs, either. That could be anything that they’re throwing, and with Secret Service there, the response is fierce. Not a pleasant moment for anybody. Plus, it’s stupid.

See- they desperately want to raise gas prices—

Feb. 7 (Bloomberg) — Two Wall Street groups asked a federal judge to delay a U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission rule that limits commodity speculation, saying the regulation is already imposing “significant, irreversible costs.”
The International Swaps and Derivatives Association Inc. and Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association filed its request today with U.S. District Judge Robert Wilkins in Washington, urging him to put the rule on hold while he considers their legal challenge.
“Compliance efforts will include restructuring of corporate relationships and divestment — irreversible changes in ownership,” Eugene Scalia, a lawyer for the groups, said in the filing. “These costs are being incurred now and will continue to rise absent a preliminary injunction, and they will be impossible to recoup if the rule is invalidated — as it likely will be.”

    http://mobile.businessweek.com/news/2012-02-07/wall-street-groups-seek-to-delay-cftc-position-limits-rule.html

They just admitted to everyone that they speculate.

US military officials have started reviewing what options are available in case the White House wants to initiate military intervention in Syria, CNN Pentagon correspondent Barbara Starr is reporting, based on unnamed officials.

The officials stressed that the review is very preliminary and the White House has not asked for, nor has the Pentagon sent, information on military options.

They emphasized that such reviews are typical, and the administration’s focus remains on diplomatic and other, non-military means, Starr reported.
