Ah, good morning! Loved starting the day with the beautiful First Couple… SO very glad she said Yes when he proposed! Happy Valentine’s Day TODObots all!
ooooh, baby. LOVE Pres and Mrs. Obama. I’m sure that he’s got something special planned for her. Even with all of the secret service, and all of the folks that trail behind them everywhere they go. I’m SURE he’s still got something that only the two of them can share.
Happy Valentine’s Day TOD family. After a long day, it’s always great to come home and end the day with a visit to TOD. The news are getting better every day – thanks to our wonderful President and his amazing First Lady. I hope you all have a great day tomorrrow – ah make that today. Really, it’s time to turn in. Good night all.
The first one is the mos beautiful video I’ve ever seen. I remember the first time Chip posted it. Took me a long time to pick myself up from the floor. Still gives me chills.
Hey Chips, these are nice vids, but where’s that one called “Sing”. We haven’t seen that one in quite a while. I forget the name of the band. You remember, it don’t you?
Thanks for the great Valentine’s Day videos including my all-time favorite Hey! TODers rock! Happy Valentine’s Day all.
Just got an email from our local Berkeley OFA: our district did 20,000 calls the week prior to the Nevada caucuses. Attendance surpassed goals set. In the end, the power of people will overcome the Koch/Rove money. Communities like this one and OFA are key. Love the new truth watch: clean, readable, shareable.
Love conquers fear every time. We just have to keep this beautiful family in the White House for another term! We are so privileged to witness such love the Obamas have for each other, our country, and the world.
Chips & TOD Fam, this is for you. Happy Valintines Day!
Valentine Friend
Valentine’s Day is all about

And friend, I knew right from the start
We had a very special bond.
Our time together is a gift;
You’re interesting and warm and fun!
And when I need to talk and share,
I think of you, friend; you’re the one.
We’re always true and real together.
We have no reason to pretend.
I’m thankful that you’re in my life,
My trusted, cherished Valentine friend.

Hey Tally. All decent choices. There one I really liked by I don’t know the actresses name. The actor was Marlon Brando and the movie was “Sayonara”. Made me cry.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Big U.S. manufacturers moved their production out of the country too quickly over the past decades and now see a competitive advantage in building up their footprints back home, top executives said on Monday.
The chase for lower-paid workers drove the migration, which resulted in employment in the U.S. manufacturing sector falling by 40 percent from its 1980 peak. But big companies including Boeing Co (BA.N) and General Electric Co (GE.N) are now finding that the benefit of lower wages can be offset by higher logistics and materials costs.
“We, lemming-like, over the last 15 years extended our supply chains a little too far globally in the name of low cost,” said Jim McNerney, chief executive of world No. 2 planemaker Boeing. “We lost control in some cases over quality and service when we did that, we underestimated in some cases the value of our workers back here.”
The Air Force, which has been one of the nation’s top purchasers of renewable energy in recent years, has adopted a strategy which could put it on a course to acquire as much as 27 percent of its electric demand from clean sources by fiscal 2016.
Currently, more than 6 percent of facility energy used by the service comes from renewable sources, which exceeds the federally mandated energy goal of 5 percent by 2010 included in the 2005 Environmental Protection Act. In 2011, for example, the Air Force used 265 million kilowatt-hours of renewable energy, an increase of 15 million kilowatt-hours from the previous year.
The service plans to add 33 renewable energy projects at its installations during the next five years, reported the Air Force Civil Engineer Support Agency.
I heard on NPR the other day that teachers receive the most Valentine’s day cards — rightfully so in my opinion. So here’s a little video Valentine for all the teachers out there – active and retired:
Such beautiful videos. May the good Lord shine down on of you who are sleeping. May you be dreaming of Hearts, Valentines, and Chocolate stawberries with a lot of love flowing through your being.. And to those who are awake as we wind down with these lovely pictures/videos of love and romance may all your dreams come true starting with the whispering ones you have tonight. May we all glow bright when we awake and spread the love around. Special love to our Chips and all TODers. May new lost ones searching for a haven find us to ease their mind.
Happy Valentines Day.
Well, you’re all saying good night, but I’m waking up to all of this glory. Can’t decide what to click first, it’s such a candy box full of goodies. Thank you to everyone from Chips’s videos to all the contributions of movie clips, slide shows and song. What a way to start a Valentine’s Day morning!! Haven’t even had breakfast and I’ve already got a big smile on my face. Happy, happy Valentine’s Day to everybody. Hug somebody you love today, young or old. And then pop back here and feel the love.
HAPPY VALENTINES DAY EVERYONE…SPREAD YOUR LOVE AND SUNSHINE….I’LL BE BACK LATER…HAVE NECESSARY WORK THIS MORNING..AND GIVING SOME STUFF TO GOODWILL..DELIVERY GUYS ARE COMING FOR PICK UP! BBL!
Happy Valentine’s Day!!!! I think that teachers DO get the most Valentine’s cards The kiddos can’t WAIT to give them and they just beam with excitement to give them. They’re so adorable. I got informed yesterday that I just wouldn’t get a “regular old card” that I would get something “extra special…and big”. Did I say they were adorable??
Now we are treated to the semiannual spectacle of watching Republicans pretend they care about the deficit. They will hammer at this repeatedly as discussion progresses on the president’s budget, which projects a deficit of more than $1 trillion for this year and $901 billion for next. Obama and the Democrats generally have a history of quaking when this deficit talk starts up. But the best thing they can do now is stick to their guns and quote Dick Cheney: “Deficits don’t matter.” Growth matters. And for growth, we need investment.
First, the Republican hypocrisy. I hope you are aware by now that they don’t actually care about deficits. They just care about money being spent on things they don’t like, which outside of overpriced ships the Navy probably doesn’t need and more reinforced steel for the border fence includes pretty much everything. If, say, instead of seeking to spend more money for transportation, Barack Obama had proposed cutting the top marginal tax rate down to 8 percent, well, that would have had a completely disastrous impact on future deficits. But you wouldn’t have seen Republicans complaining about that, because the rich deserve more of their money back.
Good link, Df, although President Obama does not and never has “quaked.” He knows exactly what he’s doing and what the Repub reaction is going to be. But you already knew that.
WASHINGTON — The nation’s voter registration rolls are in disarray, according to a report released Tuesday by the Pew Center on the States. The problems have the potential to affect the outcomes of local, state and federal elections.
One in eight active registrations is invalid or inaccurate. At the same time, one in four people who are eligible to vote — at least 51 million potential voters — are not registered.
The report found that there are about 1.8 million dead people listed as active voters. Some 2.8 million people have active registrations in more than one state. And 12 million registrations have errors serious enough to make it unlikely that mailings based on them will reach voters.
“These problems waste taxpayer dollars, undermine voter confidence and fuel partisan disputes over the integrity of our elections,” said David Becker, director of election initiatives at the center.
Mr. Becker warned that poor record keeping at the registration stage is not evidence of fraud at polling places. “These bad records are not leading to fraud but could lead to the perception of fraud,” he said.
This is why all the phone calling is important. They help to clean up the data. OFA has been working very hard to get cleaned up data bases and all of us have to pitch in. People move, change phones, and die. Databases that worked in 2010 won’t work now. And 2008 is way out of date. This is part of the job we have to do in the months ahead.

Obama Delivers Remarks On Payroll Tax Cut Extension At 10:40 AM ET
President Obama at 10:40 a.m. ET will deliver remarks urging Congress to extend the payroll tax cut and unemployment insurance. Obama will speak in the South Court Auditorium, according to the White House.
And another thing, the Economy will still be gaining steam, Companies will be hiring, despite mixed economic news. Eventually, Companies hiring, will turn everything around, they have made lots of money, some 2 trillion in their coffers.
So, apparently they are making the investments right here.
Again, why? Boeing, for example, has seen it’s 787 3 years behind schedule, because they thought they could save money by having it put together overseas.
They were wrong. The quality overseas is Terrible, and they are now bringing those jobs back Home!

Love it! Our energizer bunny president just keeps going and going and going. He really is making government cool again. I can’t wait to hear what he has to say. I expect the only adult in the room will tell the children in the Republican Party to eat their spinach and grow up already or suffer the consequences.
HEADLINE: Santorum Catches Up With Romney in New Poll.
// After his surprise triple victories in Colorado, Minnesota and Missouri, Rick Santorum has begun soaring among Republican primary voters, erasing Mitt Romney’s lead in the race for the party’s presidential nomination. A New York Times/CBS News poll released Tuesday morning showed Mr. Santorum surging among Republican primary voters nationwide, lifted by support among conservatives, evangelical Christians and Tea Party supporters. //
Need some help, please. Can folks refresh my memory about the kinds of things Ben Nelson has voted on that has earned your ire? I’m trying to define what it means to be a Blue Dog Democrat. Thanks.
Happy Valentines Day, TODville!! Especially to our Chips – kind sage, blogmaster par excellence, pied piper, best comic relief in a category all by herself, video queen, keeper of the mats. May your day be filled with all the sweetness you can handle.
HEADLINE: Most of Romney’s top fundraisers remain anonymous
// Despite criticism of Fannie Mae by Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, his campaign accepted nearly $280,000 in donations raised by a registered lobbyist who once represented the government mortgage giant and whose clients now include a private equity firm and the drug company Pfizer.
Yet Romney has not identified all of his so-called fundraising “bundlers’’ who have raised hundreds of thousands of dollars, even after President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign released the names of his top fundraisers. Rick Santorum and Newt Gingrich also haven’t disclosed their bundlers. Ron Paul’s campaign has said it doesn’t use them. For more than a decade, since the election of George W. Bush in 2000, presidential campaigns have identified their bundlers. //
Gooooood Morning…and Happy Valentine’s Dayyyy to TOD fam….
usually i get a chance to peep in before i leave for work….today i left a lil earlier than usual…so i missed all the fabulous and heart warming videos…(can’t view the videos at work, bummer) but you can best believe that i will check them when i get home from work…
Feeling wonderful about the chances for the re-election of the President but i do not underestimate the fervor and the determination of the other side…especially if Rick Santorum becomes the nominee and the danger that he represents to us all…
for a long time i thought that Romney would be the one…because of the electability issue….but i think that the Repubs know that the economy is getting better and if it continues to do so they will not have a leg to stand on….so what they have left is the culture wars…we got a lil taste of it with the Birth Control issue…altho the Repubs in the states have been waging a culture war on the middle class since 2010…Santorum is more suited for this kind of campaign…he will rally those racist/sexist/homophobe/TP elements in the Republican Party…scary notion…
on another note…
i saw Colin Powell at the BET Honors…i wonder about Repubs like him….who will they vote for…
President Obama’s 2013 budget was greeted on Monday with Republican catcalls that it is simply a campaign document, but election-year budgets are supposed to explain priorities to voters. This one offers a clear and welcome contrast to the slashing austerity — and protect-the-wealthy priorities — favored by Republican Congressional leaders and the party’s presidential candidates.
The president’s budget calls for long-term deficit reduction, but its immediate priority is to encourage the fledgling economic recovery. Instead of trying to stabilize the budget on the backs of the poor, it would raise taxes on the wealthy and on big banks and eliminate many corporate tax loopholes.
To put Americans back to work, it would invest $350 billion in constructing roads, rail lines and schools, and encourage manufacturing through tax incentives and research spending. It would maintain the Pell grant program for low-income college students and add new spending for teacher improvement and education reform.
Love is definitely in the air. I missed so much last night. I will be up late tonight enjoying all the romantic videos while I eat my chocolates! Thank you guys for thinking of me. But I feel this way all year. Love is like breathing to me. I need it. Got to have it. Give and receive it abundantly.
Armor, my dear TOD family……..Armor
I forgot to share with you all tonight on PBS at 9:00 a special story Loving v/s Virginia. A landmark ruling on interracial marriage that set a precedent. I read the article (forgot where, sorry). But I think this is something that we all can appreciate right about now with all the hate the GOP is spewing ans seeping out of their pitiful pores. Of course, they will not watch something like this. Sad when they are ones who need it the most.

Someone mentioned awhile ago about using passports to bypass all the rigamaroo about voter id laws…to make the intial passport offering free…
i like this idea because of the uniformity of it all…
i wish there was a way to update the record keeping in each state…to get rid of outdated and broken machines and processes…
I love all the videos but I would have to say the first is my favorite. It’s simply beautiful.

Good on you Henry! Can’t wait to see the photos from your trip.
Gee
Wow, how exciting for Henry the 8th. And Ollie Hayes, of course. They’ll have a blast.
WOW CHIPS…YOU HAVE BEEN BUSY…I FEEL LIKE I’M AT THE MOVIES THIS MORNING! BLESS YOU…SUPER JOB!..:) I’LL NEED LOTS OF KLEENEX BEFORE THIS IS OVER!
Need some help, please. Can folks refresh my memory about the kinds of things Ben Nelson has voted on that has earned your ire? I’m trying to define what it means to be a Blue Dog Democrat. Thanks.
Tien Le, I think votesmart is always a good place to start:

I’m not a policy wonk so all that is for me is a list of votes. I was hoping for something more Blue Dog 101. Great link, though.
He is the one who said “the Public Option is a non-starter.”
Thank you, that helps.

Gooooood Morning…and Happy Valentine’s Dayyyy to TOD fam….
usually i get a chance to peep in before i leave for work….today i left a lil earlier than usual…so i missed all the fabulous and heart warming videos…(can’t view the videos at work, bummer)
but you can best believe that i will check them when i get home from work…
Feeling wonderful about the chances for the re-election of the President but i do not underestimate the fervor and the determination of the other side…especially if Rick Santorum becomes the nominee and the danger that he represents to us all…
for a long time i thought that Romney would be the one…because of the electability issue….but i think that the Repubs know that the economy is getting better and if it continues to do so they will not have a leg to stand on….so what they have left is the culture wars…we got a lil taste of it with the Birth Control issue…altho the Repubs in the states have been waging a culture war on the middle class since 2010…Santorum is more suited for this kind of campaign…he will rally those racist/sexist/homophobe/TP elements in the Republican Party…scary notion…
on another note…
i saw Colin Powell at the BET Honors…i wonder about Repubs like him….who will they vote for…
WE Won’t Go Back….
Pressssssssssssss ON!!
Good morning and HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/02/14/opinion/a-responsible-2013-budget.html?_r=1&hp
Off to do volunteer work and share some love.
