Hey Chips, what does the 1 represent on the fake t-shirt from Walker to PBO. Hypocrite!!!!
Hey COS, I venture to say it means OBAMA WON, as in he will keep on winning, if the lesser of us have anything to say about it! ;)
I guess it could mean a few different things especially from that … eh…. governor (wanted to cuss but thought better). However, to me it means number one, the best, one MORE term etc. I can only guess that Snott Walker may have had other ideas. You are so right though Cos, he is a hypocrite. (the governor NOT the President).
I LOVE the pictures Chips, they are amazing.
I don’t ascribe any negative conotations to it – even though SW may have his motive. I think it restates The President being “first among equals”, #1 in the country…you count him first before any other; just MHO.
At least Walker smiled pleasantly and didn’t shake his finger in PBO’s face!
Good Afternoon, Everyone :)
Good afternoon rikyrah. Am I seeing a long line of people in the video link?
but but but…our POTUS can’t relate to the masses
Isn’t it so absurd to hear MSM pundits repeat this lie, over and over again? How many presidents or presidential candidate, other than President Obama, routinely hear shouts of ” We love you” or, “I love you” from their audiences? I don’t even recall Bill Clinton getting the kind of genuine expressions of love that President Obama gets from many people who show up to listen to him. I love the fact that President Obama always responds with: ” I love you back” every time some one in the audience shouts that they love him. Yet, the MSM pundits insist on programing us to believe that “POTUS can’t relate to the masses.” What they really mean is that POTUS does not spend much time socializing with the elite in the media.
BTW, I am up and running from my second nap. :)
No keeping up with you now!
Very pretty indeed. Combined with that brain and charisma? Yup. Very pretty indeed.
so, Walker recovered?
BWA HA HA AH AH AH AH AH AHA HA
“See? See? I like the President! I really like him! I can work with him on all sorts of things. Please don’t kick me out of office!”
MY DEAR…WHEN WALKER MET THIS PRESIDENT..YOU’D BETTER BET HIS SOX WERE WET!
Sounds about right.
But…but… I thought Walker had the flu, was cancelling. Instead I saw Walker, presenting the #1 T-shirt,while willing his sphincter muscle not to soil himself. ///what does this mean?
Was Romney’s Detroit Policy A Lemon?
Romney is still railing against the auto bailouts, long after his famous “Let Detroit Go Bankrupt” op-ed. The Economist pushes back:
Free-marketeers that we are, The Economist agreed with Mr Romney at the time. But we later apologised for that position. “Had the government not stepped in, GM might have restructured under normal bankruptcy procedures, without putting public money at risk”, we said. But “given the panic that gripped private purse-strings…it is more likely that GM would have been liquidated, sending a cascade of destruction through the supply chain on which its rivals, too, depended.” Even Ford, which avoided bankruptcy, feared the industry would collapse if GM went down. At the time that seemed like a real possibility. The credit markets were bone-dry, making the privately financed bankruptcy that Mr Romney favoured improbable. He conveniently ignores this bit of history in claiming to have been right all along.
Because he’ll say anything. He’s beginning to make Bill Clinton look like a pillar of honesty and candor. I too opposed the bailouts for the same reason as The Economist. And like its editors, I walked back my position after the amazing results came in.
Thank you Economist. This will be good reference to have when campaigning. I am going to put it in my ‘handy folder’ that I keep. Found it very helpful in 2008 when I was doing phone calling to have a couple of really good bullet points with back-up for phone calls where someone really wanted to talk about a subject.
Love items like this that are short and very direct on the key points.
lol @ #1 jersey given to PBO……..S.W is such a loser!
So I guess he wasn’t too sick for a photo op……coward and liar,….
Exactly ChristiMTL………. just seeing him makes me so damn sick and I don’t even live in the same country as him! Especially knowing what he said about PBO at CPAC… gawd these Repubs are disgusting scums of the Earth! When we watch the vile things said/done by Republicans over there on our local news (we don’t have 24hr news thank goodness, but our cabletv provides access to CNN, Fox etc)…. we wonder how do people like Jan Brewer, Hannity, Breitbart, Beck, Coulter, Bachmann etc.. get such platforms they have been given?! Geezusssssss those people on the right would scare the bejeezus out of folks here.. I doubt they would have any platform whatsoever! They are full blown CRAZY!!
I often wonder what people are the world think of us – especially the crazyass Republicans.
Well, I can say in New Zealand, not many people would know who many of the Republicans are lol Most would only remember George ‘Dubya’ Bush very well for many of his failures, especially the ‘show throwing’ incident.
Willard Romney, Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum would be known to some because of this years Presidential Elections… but only just slightly because of maybe 30 seconds worth of air time they might get making it onto our local news stations here.. but that could be once in a blue moon.
Other times Republicans tend to only make the news here, is when they make gaffes or do something really REALLY stupid and full-blown crazy! I don’t think Republicans have ever made it onto our news for anything ‘good’ since PBO has been President. They have pretty much been seen as obstructionists and partisan, not capable of comprising for the good of the American people. Analysts, Anchors, Contributors etc would be bullies compared to what we have here LOL The whole thing with MSNBC vs FOX and their hatred for each other.. you would never see that on our 2 news stations here (our 2 news channels times are like 6am-8:30am, then again in the afternoon as an update at 12pm-12:30pm and then in the evening when people finish work so at 6pm-7pm and then they have one for those late shift-workers who may finish after 9/10pm, that update news is from 11pm-11:30pm.)
NZ people don’t really get into American politics and possibly a majority don’t care for it because obviously we have our own P.M and Politics happening here and we get caught up in our own issues, but from what I’ve come to know.. is that they like President Obama and don’t understand the extremism of right wing politics or personal hatred for him. We have a “Republican” a.k.a what we call “National” run government here in NZ…… but boy our Prime Minister would be run out of the party if he had a House/Senate like the GOP there  Tea Party would be yellin.. OFF WITH HIS HEADDDDDDDDDDDDD
Oops.. meant ‘shoe – not show’ **correction**
Thanks for the reply. It’s helpful for those of us who don’t get to travel outside the USA too much to know what’s going on. As a retiree I hope to travel a little more.
Here in the UK since 2008 so many more people have a positive opinion of the USA as a direct result of Barack Obama winning the Presidency. People who know that I am a big time PBO supporter have been following the republican primaries and are shocked at the calibre of the candidates. One recently said to me that he hoped that PBO won again not only because he believes that he is a great president but that the rebups scare him so much that he would even prefer GWB as prez. (He positively detested GWB!!)
President Obama has done more for the positive image of America and Americans in 3 years than any of the republican party could ever dream of achieving. I guess that’s what happens when you have the best.
Thanks Sam UK. I know you guys have some problems, but geez, I am beginning to think our Republican clown car is really unique.
Too right Sabreen60 we have trouble with the CONservatives here trying to rob from the poor to give to the rich so to speak, in that respect they are similar to the republicans but there isn’t so much outright hatred and vitriol that we see from the repubs.
We ARE suffering as a result of the austerity measures both in our national economy and personally as a family. There are times I wish President Obama could be our leader too (oh to get that lucky) but having said that the world would be in a much worse state if McCain had gotten in. If PBO hadn’t averted a great depression we would all be in the muck big time.
WALKER…A SHALLOW FOOL TO SAY THE LEAST…MY PLEASURE IS IN KNOWING THAT HE WAS MORE THAN LIKELY GRITTING HIS TEETH STANDING IN FRONT OF PBO…HE PROBABLY GOT BACK IN HIS CAR AND ‘SHOOK HIS FINGER’ AT HIMSELF!
I hope they disinfect that jersey from any germs that Gov. Walker may have passed on so our handsome President doesn’t catch anything from that slimeball! Gawd I really dislike that bastidddddd Walker
No kidding ewwwwwwwww,….
Yeah!!! Get your nasty cooties away from my President, you sleezy hypocrite!
NOW DOES THAT ’1′ REPRESENT ONE TERM PRESIDENT THAT ALL THE REPUTHUGS KEEP HOLLERING…WHAT A PUNK!!!
That’s what I took it to mean. How disrespectful and cowardly. The GOP are so juvenile.
Me too, I just thought ‘what a jerk! (apologies for the language but I can think of nothing more appropriate) A**hat!
President Obama should have packed some chicken soup for Gov. Recall Walker.
I’M NOT GOING THERE!..:))))))) I USED TO RUN TRAFFIC CONTROL FOR THE INDY 500…THERE WAS A CHAUVANIST I HAD TO WORK W/ WHO DIDN’T BELIEVE IN WOMEN IN UNIFORM. HE ALSO HAD ‘DUNLAPS DISEASE…WOULD EAT ANYTHING THAT DIDN’T WALK. FOR OUR 500 STAFF GATHERING I MADE HIM A SPECIAL CAKE…4 SQUARES OF SPAM…HAVE TO WASH THE GOOP OFF…PUT THEM TOGETHER NICELY ON A CAKE PLATE…FROST WITH DEEP CHOC. FUDGE ICING AND DECORATE….YOU CAN FILL IN THE REST OF THE BLANKS! YOWZAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!
I HOPE MSNBC SHOWS THE PREZ. SINCE I DON’T HAVE SOUND ON WH..GOV.
Sue: There is sound here now: http://www.ustream.tv/cbsnews
Sue what did he say about his cake? I can only imagine his face.
PBO should have gave him one of Ms. Minnie’s famous pies, lmao!
Milwakee’s Sheriff cuts back on Obama visit security
On the eve of President Obama’s visit to Milwaukee’s Master Lock factory Wednesday, Clarke let it be known in the Journal Sentinel that because he lost some funding (and a bit of ego) in a budget battle with County Executive Chris Abele, the Sheriff’s department just doesn’t have the resources to fully staff the County’s end of the presidential security detail when Obama is in town.
I was wondering what was that I heard earlier.
Playing politics is more important than the security of the President.
PAR FOR THE COURSE…IT’S A GOOD OLE BOY CITY…HOWEVER…PBO HAS THE BEST SECURITY…GOD IS WATCHING!
SOMEBODY FROM CHURCH JUST SENT ME A CRAZY BUNCH OF VERBAL CONFUSION FROM MR. BECK…THE ONE WHO BELONGS IN A VELCRO WRAP AROUND. SHE’S LOOKING FOR PEOPLE TO STAND W/ HIM…’DELETE’ IS OFTEN MY FAVORITE WORD!
 Crazies are EVERYWHERRRRRRE……… even at Church! Wowow!
OUT OF 250 MEMBERS…THERE ARE 2 DEMS…THAT’S HOW MUCH FUN I’M HAVING!
Sue when I read that… I compared you (2 Dems) to President Obama and VP Joe Biden… and how sane and strong they both are against House Republicans…….. I see you in that same light among the 250 members lol More Power To You!!! #PressOn
I will let this headline speak for itself.
Megadeth Frontman Dave Mustaine Endorses Rick Santorum.

LOL! Love one of the comments from the Politico piece: “Can Metallica kick him out of the band again?”
You gotta love has-beens like this. Yeah, he was a true blue Democratic supporter until he became “Born Again” or in liberal layman’s terms, “He did so many drugs that he can’t screw anymore.” Then endorses the most whacked candidate in the slew and can’t really tell anyone why, other then, “I think he has some Presidential qualities.” Sorry Dave, being white and tall doesn’t cut it anymore.
I always hated megadeth. Now, at least I have a real reason.
The GOP wants a POTUS who will ask #DaddyNorquist what to do & say when dealing with foreign leaders/doing the job. bing.com/videos/watch/v…— Tally Briggs (@bardgal) February 15, 2012
DONE…AND MSNBC JUST ANNOUNCED THEY WILL BE RUNNING THE PREZ! AWESOME!
but but but Joe Scab-orough told Dems don’t blame Norquist… he doesn’t hold any power of Republicansssssssss
Yes, Gov. Walker , he is #1!
When Air Force 1 take off for L.A. throw that jersey from Walker out the window.
ROFLMFAO anniebella…..
Over the Pacific Ocean
I counted 18 vehicles in the convoy
I thought he had the stomach flu? Smh.
Earlier I posted a column from Balloon Juice comparing Willard to his father. The post was quite good in bringing forth something Willard’s Daddy had written about the right-wing of the GOP. It was scathing and on point.
Here’s the key takeaway from the post about Willard , compared to his father:
The problem for Mitt Romney is that he has become the exact type of politician his father fought against, condemned and—i think it’s fair to say—despised. Trying to pretend otherwise is why Mitt seems so fake all the time. He had a choice between the integrity of his father or the cowardliness of Goldwater and the modern conservative movement.
George Romney deserved a better son.
THIS comment was posted, and I had missed it, but damn, I thought it was brilliant.
Martin – February 15, 2012 | 1:47 am • Link
@ItAintEazy: You know, if I were Obama and Romney were the nominee, the entire first debate I would do nothing but praise George Romney and quote him extensively in my contrast to Mitt’s positions. Every point, I’d go back to George. I’d memorize every notable thing he said and rattle if off like a Republican quitting Reagan. I’d jump so far inside Mitt’s head, he’d never shake me out.
I would SO love it if POTUS did this to Willard. We thought County Last made an ass of himself during the 2008 debates – I think that would be child’s play compared to Willard.
Maybe the President should remind Mitt that his father met with Saul Alinsky for help after the Detriot riots
Old George himself would be saying MItt who, right about now.
It would certainly be very effective but cruel at the same time. It’s a bridge too far from me. It’s aiming at his heart instead of at his policies. Maybe a remark about how radical the GOP has become and a mention of George Romney among a list of other more sane conservatives of the past; that, I would be all right with.
Andrea Mitchell interviewing Santorum’s press secty (I think) Alice Stewart. She actually kept a straight face while she answered Andrea’s questions about St.Torum’s views on women health issues. Her response? Well, he’s been nice to me and other women staffers. duh!
I think she was formerly Bachmann’s press secretary. I rest my case.
What did the CEO just say about Republicans? The audio was bad.
Walker is creepy and makes my skin crawl. He looks like he’s on drugs or has issues.
Why does ever State claim they are essential to the election ?
Self promotion. But hey whatever works.
who was the guy speaking at the podium and what did he say about PBO coming out as a repug? didnt sound as though the audience liked his comment.
That was the CEO and I could not hear what he said….
I take it from the joke that the guy who escorted PBO on the factory tour was a talker & a repug; and that after spending time with that guy, the Pres might convert…
Heh. His workers are probably going to vote 80-20 for PBO.
The High Price of the Hard Right Turn
by David Frum
Republican strategy over the past 2 years has been premised on the assumption that President Obama is so hopelessly weakened that the GOP needn’t bother addressing centrist voters at all.
That was never a very plausible assumption, and now Ron Brownstein has the data to suggest that beyond “implausible,” the assumption is outright wrong.
In 2008, Obama won 49 percent of men; Pew finds him with 45 percent against Romney. Against McCain, Obama won 56 percent of women; Pew finds him drawing 59 percent against Romney. Among white men, Pew finds Obama’s support slipping from 41 percent in 2008 to 36 percent now (with all of the decline coming among white men without a college degree, the toughest audience throughout his presidency.) Among white women, though, Pew finds Obama rising from 46 percent in 2008 to 52 percent against Romney—and recording gains among both college-plus women (whom he carried last time) and the working-class “waitress moms” who strongly preferred McCain.
If conservatives are to have a seat at the table again, it will be by following people like Frum, not the likes of Limbaugh.
Here he is…….!!!!!!!!
POTUS putting out the facts in his speech.. he’s just so darn good.
I would like to encourage everyone to call your Congressional representative’s office today if you can. They need to hear our voices on the birth control issue. The ridiculous language they are proposing that would allow employers to exclude birth control coverage based on religious or ‘moral’ convicitions is beign proposed as an amendment to the transportion bill.
We all know we don’t want to be subject to someone else’s ‘moral’ convictions and why are they messing with the transportaion bill with social issues.
Women need to be heard…we welcome male voices too ;-)
Done! Called and sent e-mails to my Representative and my two Senators! Thankfully, they are all on our side.
Right Now…Right Now….Right Now….
Gosh, it is amazing how poorly he does connecting with people and just can’t get any response from the audience.
true japa, its a damn shame alright ;)
Those Master Locke people are a feisty bunch
“Right Now! Right Now! Right Now!”
Love the woman in the crowd who hollered out “It wasn’t your fault”.. in response to POTUS’ comment that there are still many folks out of work. I love this crowd.. they get it, they know who he is.
………………… I love how President Obama says ‘RIGHT NOW!’…. repeating it and putting emphasis on it… then hearing some in the audience repeating it in a soft chant
Wow these folks are a serious Amen choir…”it wasn’t your fault…that’s right Mr. President.”
A valentine story from yesterday
Tale of dog’s harrowing ride returns to bite Romney
That place looks pretty packed with people
President Obama was just channeling ……….
Bruce Springsteen: >>>>>>>>”WE TAKE CARE OF OUR OWN”<<<<<<<<<
You can see how carefully the security detail is looking into the crowd to make sure nobody has anything that might even be close to a threat.
Yeah, I noticed the big dude behind PBO.. he had a look on his face that was telling of what you just said above! Does anyone know if there is or has been a newly appointed bodyman to President Obama yet? I was trying to look for him when PBO was working the crowd. I want to know who he is
Marvin Nicholson, who was the Travel director is the President’s Bodyman, but I don’t know if he’sjust taking on 2 roles, or if they have a replacement for the Travel director.
Thanks pinkbuny92 for answering my question :-) I’m gonna look Marvin Nicholson up. I have no clue what he looks like lol
What a nice President Obama fix to start my morning lol
regarding the “great deal” no spending cuts…..make the wealthy pay their fair share…
How long will it be before the juveniles in the Republican Party start complaining that President Obama is doing fundraisers during an election year?
They’ve been complaining about that since his first trip in Air Force One, and they’re voices just got raised when he did his very first fundraiser last year. Mark Knoller is always first out the media gate with some snarky comment about the President travelling/fundraising/breathing during an election year. I notice he never complains about tax-funded secret service protection for these supposed “front runners” on the GOP side.
OH DEAR …….
A CONTROVERSY FROM HELL FOR MITT ROMNEY
By Ed Kilgore
If, God forbid, I were part of Mitt Romney’s press operation, this headline from HuffPost popping up in my inbox would make me strongly consider calling it a day and reporting myself sick:
Elie Wiesel: Mitt Romney Should Tell Mormon Church To Stop Performing Posthumous Proxy Baptisms On Jews
Yes, spurring a sudden burst of high-profile attention for a long-simmering controversy, the Nobel Peace Prize Winner and Holocaust survivor has called out America’s most famous Mormon not named Osmond to try to change an exotic (and to outsiders, a tad bizarre) LDS practice that has drifted into the toxic territory of Christian insensitivity to Jews. Here’s the brief summary from Andrea Stone:
Well, as long as our press makes PBO answer for anything said by any black person, anywhere, then Mittens should be required to answer for his church.

Mitt Romney’s one percent problem isn’t going away
By Greg Sargent
One last batch of numbers from the New York Times/CBS poll:
In general, do you think the policies proposed by Mitt Romney favor the rich, favor the middle class, favor the poor, or do they treat all groups equally?
Favor the rich: 53
Favor the middle class: 11
Favor the poor: 1
Treat all equally: 22
Fifty three percent of independents say Romney’s policies favor the rich; only 10 percent of them say they favor the middle class. Also:
Do you think Mitt Romney does or does not understand the needs and problems of peoplelike yourself?
You gotta love the 1% who think Willard’s policies favor the poor!!!!
INDEED…THEY ARE GUILTY OF AIRBAGS WEDGED BETWEEN THE EARS!
It’s the Wealth Gap, Stupid
Awesome speech and hats off to the ‘Sistahs” in the Amen choir. They added all the right exclamation points to our President’s words. We take care of our own!
So true Sue, they were terrific!
The Amen Corner….they were feeling Rev..PBO….hehehe
i only saw PBO’s joke about the lock and his daughters. missed it.:(
“On Wednesday, February 22, the President will deliver remarks at the construction site of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. The museum is scheduled to open in 2015 and will be the only national museum devoted exclusively to the documentation of African American life, art, history and culture. The event is by invitation only and not open to the public; the entire ceremony will be webcast.”
LOVE IT! Thanks Chipsticks :-)
Well, that was the most aloof presentation I ever did see……
Los Angeles Weather Report: currently raining, temp 55
I wonder where it’s raining. It’s partly cloudy and dry in my neck of the woods.
LL, it was raining in my neck of the woods (Adams District) at that time, but has since cleared up :-)
Now it’s pouring here by the coast.
Yea, that rain cloud is moving around quite a bit today.
Lucky for you LL! I am just coming from work and it has been raining off-and-on here in San Diego. It just eased off about half an hour ago. Driving has been a mess around here.

A Controversy From Hell for Mitt Romney
By Ed Kilgore
Elie Wiesel: Mitt Romney Should Tell Mormon Church To Stop Performing Posthumous Proxy Baptisms On Jews
WHY THE GOP WILL NEVER GIVE UP GOING AFTER OUR, SOCIAL SECURITY FUND
The GOP realized that if they could drive up the US federal debt by spending the nations riches without paying for them, this would force the country into having to cut the nation’s support programs or force them into the private markets. With high, unpaid federal debts and deficits, they could possibly drive programs such as Welfare, Medicare, Medicaid and even Social Security toward privatization.
When David Stockman, Reagan’s Budget Chairman realized all this, the nation’s spending began in earnest, and that spending was all put on the nation’s Credit Card, but not in the nation’s budget. When they were done, Reagan’s administration had incurred debts and deficits that were “larger than all the presidents since George Washington , combined.
What is ironic is that to this day, the Republicans refer to the other political party as the, “Tax & Spend Democrats”.
NOT A PERTY PICTURE…THOUSANDS OF SENIORS EVICTED FROM WHEREVER AND STARVING IN THE STREETS! THE GOP ARE TRAITORS TO THIS COUNTRY…AND EVERY OTHER COUNTRY THAT IS SUFFERING IS GOING THROUGH THE SAME SCENARIO…GREED OVER PEOPLE! WE ARE SO BLESSED TO HAVE PBO! GOD LOVE HIM…AND HE DOES!
Scott Walker corruption investigation…..
Some speculating going on that there is evidence of Koch brothers pay to play with the walker regime for no bid WI utility contracts were found in the boxes that were hauled out of walker’s former aide Cyndy Archer’s house last fall.
I hope this proves to be true……No wonder Walker has the runs.
@mpoindc @DomenicoNBC Whiplash! More Car Talk from Mitt.
Now he says he would have SUPPORTED aid to automakers?— David Axelrod (@davidaxelrod) February 15, 2012
Romney has no shame. He will say and do anything to get the nomination. I seriously think he has some daddy issues. He just wants to be president, because that office is one step up from the cabinet post his father held.
There Mitt goes again, flip flopping.
Three comments on the speech.
First, I was pleased that he brought up unions, noting this is a union shop, and that companies can be succesful when they are unionized.
Secondly, and I am noticing him doing this more and more, talking about how the values that he mentions are not Democratic values or Republican values, they are American values. This is a very subtle slap at the current Republican party and especially the rich overlords, who quite obviously don’t have these same values. Unlike the Bush adminsitration, which had no difficulty coming right out and calling people who disagreed with them unAmerican, he leaves it up to the listener to decide the issue.
Finally, you can tell he is ready to use the same meme he used in 2010, of “you don’t want to give the keys back to the people who drove you in the ditch to begin with.” This is way of saying, you didn’t listen to me before and look what happened, especially in places like Wisconsin. MAybe you will listen to me now. He is too graceful to say “I told you so” but I think this will become another of the main themes this year.
Yes – I noticed that comment about keeping our foot on the gas. It reminded me of the car keys story, too. Good insight on the other points.
Absolutely spot-on! As always, your comments contain valuable insights!
Greetings ObamaBuilt2Last–yup what you say about NZ having a positive opinion about President Obama is echoed around the world. I get a real shudder when I think of what some countries must think about the idiots that the GOP has put up as their candidates. My relatives in Finland think the Repubs must have lost their minds!
auni, thank you for sharing, especially about your family in Finland. I hope they are well in that part of the World :-)

Republican fundraiser on Mitt Romney’s problem: ‘You run out of people you can hit up for $2,500′
by Jed Lewison
BuzzFeed’s Zeke Miller takes a look at a provocative question: is Mitt Romney’s campaign on the verge of facing a cash crunch? Romney’s campaign says everything is fine, pointing to recent fundraisers and a $1.3 million ad buy in Michigan, but Miller talks with several anonymous Republican fundraisers in New York who say Romney has a problem.
At the core of it? Romney’s fundraising is extremely top heavy, relying overwhelmingly on big dollar contributors. Unlike President Obama, just 9% of Mitt Romney’s financial support comes from small donors. A campaign can always resolicit small donors, but big donors are limited to $2,500—and as one Republican fundraiser told Miller: “You run out of people you can hit up for $2,500.”
According to Miller, another GOP fundraiser said Romney is “tapping out” the donor network in big cities, where donors feel it is “embarrassing” to ask for money to help Romney beat Santorum given that (in their view) Santorum should be so easy to beat. Ultimately, the problem may come down to the simple fact that Mitt Romney is running a lackluster campaign. As another Republican fundraiser told Miller, Romney is “a Republican John Kerry running Hillary Clinton’s campaign.”
Somehow, this doesn’t ring true. Romney’s got several million he can pump into his own campaign, he’s got the media and establishment that are still crossing their fingers that the base will fall in love with him, he’s got the SuperPACs – which have no limits. I don’t buy this article for a minute, and I think they’re just trying to make him the underdog.
I’m wondering, Theo, is this isn’t more of a psychological running out of money than a real one. It’s unlikely anyone expected that the primary would need to expend so many tens of millions of dollars knocking out Mitt’s opponents, especially an opponent as flawed as Newt. Now he’s going to need more big bucks for Santorum and he still hasn’t locked up the nomination. He was supposed to be the inevitable one. The nomination race was never expected to be this bruising. I have heard that Romney is a very prudent, parsimonious man and is very unlikely to spend big sums of his own money on his campaign while its still possible to get a dime from someone else. And he’s still got a general election to fund that’s going to require mega bucks. Sure the SuperPacs can collect big anonymous contributions, but I’ll bet these are mostly the same sources being tapped for the official primary campaign.
I’m wondering if they’re trying to find an easy excuse for not running an all-out negative campaign against Santorum. I heard Mitt was advised at CPAC to be careful with the negativity towards Santorum, because he’ll likely need him later to rally the so-called “Christians”. I think they’re trying to start a narrative that Romney needs to conserve funds, so he’s not going to attack Santorum like he did to Newt. Granted, I’m paranoid when it comes to the GOP and their deceptive ways.
From the White House: “On Wednesday, February 22, the President will deliver remarks at the construction site of the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. The museum is scheduled to open in 2015 and will be the only national museum devoted exclusively to the documentation of African American life, art, history and culture. The event is by invitation only and not open to the public; the entire ceremony will be webcast.”
Lots of folks calling into Rev Al’s show stating what $40.00 loss would mean to them. Very engaged. Now a caller and guest stating how internal criticism from the left wasted 3 years of valuable time and support that PBO now has to work extra hard at to re-coup. In other words, they were stupid and damaging. This we all know, so thank God there are so many new supporters to take up the slack from the cynics of the so-called left. I say, left of what?
That caller talking about how destructive some progressives have been was right. We’ve sat here for 3 years watching them go from one complaint to another…I’m glad people are tired of their mess.
Hey Charmed. I love your tweets to Rev Al. And it’s clear he adores them too :-D
*giggling* thanks edp4bho, tweeting him during the show is appointment radio for me most days….days like today throw me off, Andre and Bacon just didn’t do it for me but Randi is on fire today…
I know what you mean. I like Andre but he doesn’t seem to know how to hit back in a flash the way Rev does. Will check out Randi when I get home.

OBAMA CAR CZAR CALLS ROMNEY CLUELESS ON AUTO BAILOUT
Romney, Rattner said, may have made his living as a venture capitalist and attended Harvard Business School, but his theories on saving the auto companies make no sense and “would get somebody a C-grade at best at the Harvard Business School.”
Romney also had hard words for Rattner in the op-ed, calling him a “politically connected and ethically challenged Obama-campaign contributor.”
Rattner said it’s nothing he hadn’t heard before and didn’t affect his opinion of Romney’s ideas. “He’s trying to sharpen his conservative chops,” said Rattner, believing that an anti-bailout position has become “a litmus test” among Republicans. “He’s afraid of being perceived as a moderate.”
This video is a good one, and needs to be seen by many more folks than the 246 hits it has now. If you like it, click on the youTube icon and go to the page and watch it so it gets another hit.
Thanks for that WiW, excellent video. Just a reminder, when embedded YouTube videos are played on any blog/site, it adds to the views for the video at YouTube.
I didn’t know that, how cool. I feel better about embedding, I always thought I was cutting down on hits. Yah….
This presentation is absolutely brilliant. I hope it gets tweeted far and wide.
Fantastic video. Detailed enough so it looks scientific and credible, yet simple enough it’s easy for everyone to understand.
Perfect video for moderates and independants. This should go viral. This should be tweeted to national pundits too. I’ve always thought that these guys are getting fed an avanlanche of data from conservative think thanks amd are too busy/lazy to do their own research. Let’s “help” them a bit…
I just tweeted it. Great video!
President Obama Up Big In Michigan!
Michigan is looking more and more like it won’t be in the swing state column this fall. PPP’s newest poll there finds Barack Obama leading the entire Republican field by double digits.
The biggest surprise in the numbers might be how badly Obama is beating Mitt Romney- he leads him by 16 points at 54-38. That’s a major departure from PPP’s previous 3 Michigan President polls, which found Obama ahead by only 4-7 points.
16????? Oh. My. God. Thank you Donna!!!!
The more the jackals keep tearing themselves apart, the better PBO looks. Plus the more positive trends the economy shows, the better for PBO. It’s a good day in politics.
MY STATE ROCKS. You can feel it on the ground here in Michigan. The rally at UnivofMich 2 weeks ago re-energized a lot of young people. And with Chrysler handing out bonus checks to all the workers it’s really good times here in Michigan!
I am so glad to hear Michigan is finally getting it. I didn’t understand how that whole state wasn’t for our President, after he saved the auto industry.
Could it be that in 2010 the results of the bail-out were still modest? I mean… Things were getting better but not fast enough so people in Michigan were still very nervous? Now the auto companies have called back thousand of workers, GM is #1, people really feel a big change, etc… NOW it’s obvious that the bail-out was a success and people reward President Obama for this success.
A word about DiAndre Jackson and his introduction…
“The man who introduced the president”
Jackson met with Obama a few minutes before the introduction. He said he asked him, “how do you keep a level head when you’re opposed by people you’re smarter than.”
I worked directly for the President of a company . One time on my evaluation he wrote.:
” Linda has NO tolerance for people who are not as smart as she is.” I was a department head.
I took a good look at myself after that.
Diplomatic way of saying ” How on earth are you able to deal with so much stupidity ?” lol
Are the Democrats going to let the Republicans allow drug testing to get the UI extension.?
This would really cause a backlash if they do.
Linda I don’t think that will happen. I could be wrong, but I really don’t think the Dems would go for that.
They are not denying it though.
” The Democratic outline of the deal states it would not include a Republican proposal to require unemployment claimants to pursue the equivalent of a high school diploma to be eligible for benefits. While the Democratic version of the deal does not mention anything about drug testing (a component Republicans have pursued since last December), Democratic aides did not deny that it would allow some form of drug testing. Federal law currently does not allow states to deny benefits for reasons other than misconduct, fraud or disqualifying earnings.”
If we all stat away from daily kos and firedoglake, then we will not be so inclined to be duped into stuff that has not happened yet!
Folks, this is a politico link, but Hell hath frozen solid.
Fox ‘course correction’ rankles some
By: Keach Hagey
February 14, 2012 04:34 AM EST
As a white, male, middle-aged conservative talk radio host from Virginia, John Fredericks is something close to the Platonic ideal of a Fox News fan.
And until last year, he was one. But then Fox’s treatment of the Republican primary race — the presentation of Karl Rove as a political analyst despite his having “thrown in for Romney” and Sean Hannity’s clear ties to the Republican establishment — began to grate on him. So he changed the channel.
“I’ve gone from all Fox to no Fox, and replaced it with CNN, which I think right now is giving me a much fairer analysis of what’s going on,” he said. “I feel they’ve lost that independent conservative mantra that had drove people like me to them. I used to feel that I got it straight, and I got an independent conservative view. Now, what I get is some wholly owned subsidiary of the RNC [Republican National Committee].”
Across the Conservative Political Action Conference this year, there were similar grumbles among conservative activists that the cable channel was no longer speaking for them as it once did.
The grumblers were picking up on a strategy that has been under way for some time — a “course correction,” as Fox chief Roger Ailes put it last fall — with the network distancing itself from the tea party cheerleading that characterized the first two years of President Barack Obama’s presidency. Lately, Fox has increasingly promoted its straight-news talent in the press and conducted some of the toughest interviews and debates of the Republican primary season. Just last week, it hired the openly gay liberal activist Sally Kohn as a contributor.
All along, Fox watchers warned that it risked alienating conservative true believers as it inched toward the center.
Well, consider them alienated.
I LOVE ALL THE PICTURES…WHEN PBO IS OUT HUGGING THE PEOPLE…THAT’S HIS ‘ENERGY JUICE’…HE LOVES BEING WITH EVERYONE. THIS MADE MILWAUKEE’S DAY AFTER ALL THE CHAOS WITH WALKER. IT LIFTED THEM TO SEE THE PRESIDENT…OUR COMFORTER-IN-CHIEF! I LOVE HIM TO PIECES!
Just finish listening to FLOTUS speak and she was wonderful. We are so bless to have a President and First Lady who are great speakers.
Utah Lawmakers Look To Undermine Popular Election Of U.S. Senators |
Some Republicans in the Utah State Senate want to move “the clock back 99 years to the era before the 17th Amendment was ratified,” the Salt Lake Tribune notes, with a bill that would let state lawmakers exert greater influence in the election of U.S. senators.
Before the ratification of the 17th Amendment, state legislatures — not the people — elected senators. But a state Senate committee approved a bill to poll state senators on their preference for federal representation, a move that even Republican critics say undermines the popular election of U.S. senators and may be more about cronyism than good policy:
Sen. Daniel Thatcher, R-West Valley City, was absent during the vote. But he said later that he opposes the resolution taking effect this year, fearing many will see it as a move to help former state Sen. Dan Liljenquist, R-Bountiful, in his race against incumbent U.S. Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah. “I think people may see it as us trying to help a buddy, and the importance of what happened with the 17th Amendment may be lost,” he said
How can a state violate the Constitution of the United States? Can’t they be stopped? I just don’t get it, wouldn’t it be seen as a form of nullification? We fought a civil war over this: going against the National supremacy clause. I don’t understand how they can get away with it.
Joe Kennedy III is announcing his bid for Barney Franks old seat!
Why did I think “chastity belt” ????? Like the one in “Robin Hood: Men in Tights”.
What was the joke? My comp is super wonky.
Hi Jessica, this is what President Obama said:
It is wonderful to be at Master Lock. I have to say, though, it brought back some memories. I was thinking about my gym locker in high school. (Laughter.) And if you go into the boys locker room in high school, sometimes it’s a little powerful — the odor in there. (Laughter.) So I was thinking about the fact that we weren’t washing our stuff enough. (Laughter.) And then I was thinking about, as I got older and I kept on using Master Locks, I became an even better customer because I couldn’t always remember my combination. (Laughter.) So I’d end up having to have the lock sawed off and buy a new one. So I was giving you guys a lot of business. (Applause.)
And now, as I was looking at some of the really industrial-size locks, I was thinking about the fact that I am a father of two girls who are soon going to be in high school, and that it might come in handy to have these super locks. (Laughter.) For now, I’m just counting on the fact that when they go to school there are men with guns with them. (Laughter.)
Joke, Joke, Joke. That’s all it was. Anyone who knows how much he loves his daughters, knows it was him trying to be funny.
I am SURE he meant for their lockers! ;) Silly PBO! love him!
All of these pics are great of PBO! I love to see him connecting with people and smiling and looking so fit and curious. I haven’t yet listened to the speech yet, but i will later tonight.
It occurs to me I have never seen Walker smiling like that before and looking as relaxed/normal. PBO brings out the best in everyone, although don’t get me wrong I am not saying Walker actually has a best! ;)
There is no good side to Scott Walker, he needs to go. Remember he is buddies with the Koch brothers, so I don’t buy the smiling and the Brewers baseball ball shirt. Wisconsin would be better without him.
Yes, yes anniebella! It seems a shame he even gets the priviledge to shake hands with our President. I wonder how the people Wisconsin felt about Walker with his dirty Koch brother hands greeting POB. I am thankful that at least walker did not try a Jan Brewer type of antic. The only credit I will give walker today is for being welcoming and showing respect to our President…that is what I gathered from the pics anyway I have not read or watched any news other than looked at these pics on TOD. I still have yet to catch up on reading comments from today on TOD. I do hope walker does not expect to get any sort of bump in likability for himself after being in such close proximity to the greatness that is PBO!
Are the GOP going to give up?
What is this fake controversy about Jim Messina and the Latino Community?
CNN said he made a gaffe.
Btw- I am just asking a question, so that I know how to respond if I am asked?
He quoted Senator McCain about the GOP not caring about the Latino Community. It was no gaffe, they are trying to make something out of nuthin’
Ok, they are just desperate as shit now.
Desperate times call for desperate measures. I’m tellin’ ya, when the unemployment rates hits 7.8 in the next few months they are going to bring back up Jeremiah Wright. Watch what I say.
instead of hair on fire…they(rethugs) will be setting themselves on fire!!!!
Are they making something out of Santorum saying that the administration is looking down on folks, and the people in Washington are snobs and elitist?
U.S. Solar Projects Rose 67 Percent in Fourth Quarter
How does the GOP equate that in ten years, the Presidents budget will add 11 trillion tO the debt?
How do they know how good the economy will be, how everybody elses budget will look like?
This is another myth?

Lots of good stuff on the list. Some familiar faves and some new discoveries – at least for me.
It’s criminal that they don’t have a Blog category though. TOD would certainly be in there!! :-)
Funny you posted this :) My daughter turned me on to this really cool site. I hope you like!
CNN is carrying water for the GOP.
They always do.
This is true. Someone earlier in the thread mentioned that some tea party people are turning from FOX to CNN – claiming it’s giving a more fair and balanced view of the GOP race, even since FOX moved away from cheerleading for the tea party. That says everything.
I was CNN early in the morning…..those two new women.
They make one mistake after another…. I send e-mails almost every day.
THE BAGHDAD BOB PARTY”??
For weeks now I have been saying to myself that Mitt Romney reminds me of “Baghdad Bob” because he just lies and makes stuff up and seems to be oblivious to what is happening around him. So imagine my glee when I read the post below from the inimitable pm carpenter making the very same comparison between Mitt Romney and Baghdad Bob. It’s fun to know we were on the same page. But I have decided that In fact, it’s not just Mitt Romney who’s like Baghdad Bob, it’s everybody in the Republican Party that thinks we should not believe what we see with our own eyes.
Yes, ‘some folks’ do that
You know, if this presidential thing doesn’t work out for Romney, my understanding is that Baghdad Bob left a huge vacancy in the Iraq government, which doubtless could again use a man of Mitt’s rhetorical ingenuity.
That’s what they should call Faux Noise and all their pundits “Bagdad Bob” News…”we just make sh#t up”.
Here is the mystery of my day: a few days ago I ordered the gold cufflinks from the OFA store, they were just too pretty! Today, here is my delivery (how fast was that), but the cufflinks are not the gold sunrise I had ordered, they are silver, saying 44. Well, they are pretty, but not what I ordered, so went in to the website to look at them. Find they are not featured anywhere in the store site, yet! A little torn, as they are quite nice, not what I ordered, but sometimes I think there are no accidents. Hmmmm…..
Is there a customer service number you can call to see if they ran out of the other cuff links? Maybe it was a shipping error?
Yes, theo67, I called one minute late! Will try tomorrow! I’m not disappointed, interestingly, just intrigued! They are always so soot on at that store, handle things very, very well.
Palin says she is available if their is a brokered convention-
And in that scenario…
..and the clown parade continues!
Of course she is…opportunistic skank. Won’t help the repugs one iota however.
and that would make it brokener-ed, worse than it is shaping up to be! ROTFLMAO!
OMG! That is why she is pushing the brokered convention. Get elected without being vetted and hope the excitement could push her over the line.
well there is enough room in the GOP clown car.
That would guarantee an Obama/Biden landslide….

The Florida Senate narrowly defeated a bill this week that would have handed over management of more than two dozen state prisons to private corporations — the largest-ever attempt at prison privatization in the nation.
The contentious measure was defeated despite getting the endorsement of powerful state Republican lawmakers, including the former chairman of the Florida Republican Party and Gov. Rick Scott. The Wall Street corporations that own and operate for-profit prisons were closely attuned to the vote in Florida, hoping for a major expansion of management contracts in the nation’s third-largest prison system.
The policy implications were massive: the bill would have privatized every state prison south of Orlando, which represents about 20 percent of the entire correctional system. The GEO Group, one of the nation’s largest private-prison corporations, has its corporate headquarters in the heart of South Florida and had expressed great interest in what its chief executive called “the largest single contract procurement in the history of our industry.”
Home safely from my northeast TN trip to see my mom. Had a good visit.
I typically do not make phone calls when I am driving but today I did–to my representatives, Duncan, Alexander and Corker. My message: It is 2012!!!!! Stop the utterly ridiculous and frankly asinine issue of birth control…..it should not be an issue AT ALL…..has nothing to do with a transportation bill…….only serves to distract and divide……Congress has no business getting in my uterus or any other woman’s uterus……needs to focus on jobs and helping our President move our country forward. Repeated that they are being stupid…..that I am sick and tired of their behavior and reminded again that in the past, I have sometimes voted split ticket (especially for Duncan), but promise that I will never again vote Republican!!!!! May not do any good, but I sure felt better. :)
Good for you, Lala. I will call all three of them tomorrow. I may fax them a letter as well.

President Obama leads president money chase in two-thirds of States:
President Obama and the four leading candidates for the GOP nomination raised $137 million in itemized contributions from individual donors last year. Nearly a quarter of that money came from a dozen states USA TODAY has identified as critical to Obama’s re-election campaign.
Check these Obama fashion dogs out. Priceless. http://twitpic.com/images/views-icon.png

Uh huh, so it seems that the Asian actress who starred in that Hoekstra ad has apologized.
Star Of Hoekstra “Racist” Ad In Michigan Apologizes
I guessing she got an earful from her people about this ad.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) suggested Wednesday afternoon that recent backroom negotiations have yielded some progress on the pending surface transportation bill.
“We have made some progress in working to an end to the issues preventing us from moving forward on this bill,” said Reid from the floor. “There is enough importance in this bill to do just that.”
As has become routine in the Senate lately, senators from both parties have complicated the bill, which enjoys broad support, by offering more than 100 unrelated, controversial amendments, such as one that would repeal the Obama administration’s recent contraceptive decision, an amendment to stop foreign aid to Egypt, and another regarding abortion.
Thanks, Chips. I missed the vid earlier today and was glad to be able to watch it. Loved it. Especially when he was talking about the unemployed and how it’s about more than a paycheck, but about dignity and pride. Nice.
You’re welcome Lisa, loved the speech too. He is so in his stride now.
