President Obama did not reprise his rendition of Al Green’s “Let’s stay together” in a duet with the famous crooner Thursday, saying once was enough.
“I took a chance at the Apollo and I’m not going to take a chance again,” he told supporters at a San Francisco fundraiser where Green performed the song solo, according to a pool report.
“Now, what is possible is after reelection, I might go on tour with the good Reverend. Be his opening act,” Obama said. “But I don’t want to lose any further votes because of my singing voice.”

AP: President Barack Obama raised more than $29 million for his campaign and for the Democratic Party in January, a strong fundraising month that put him ahead of the pace he set in the last quarter of 2011.
….. The month’s haul raises Obama’s total combined fundraising for this election cycle to about $250 million. In the last three months of 2011, he averaged about $23 million a month.
…. Presidential candidates must submit January fundraising reports to the Federal Election Commission on Friday. The Obama campaign’s full report is expected later in the day.

Good Morning. Continue to Enjoy the great news Mr President and all supporters
ovenmittmentum
Thank you amk!
I love that the President is going to visit the Boeing facility in Everett. It was built by union labor.
My son excitedly called me this morning to tell me his start up company was chosen to provide the railing at the Obama Everett event. Last year his company was new and bid on the staging for the visit to WA but was not chosen. He put up the railing for the stage last night. I am hoping the administration does a good job of paying in a timely fashion as local vendors are somewhat hesitant to do these jobs after Hillary stiffed most of them in the ’08 Primary. I remember telling my son then that Obama had been paying his bills in a timely fashion. My son was an Obama caucus leader that attended the WA District Caucus after the local caucus chose him in ’08. He and his wife are big supporters just not as involved as we are here. His wife fought in the first striker brigade in Iraq and has been working on her undergrad education since then. She just finished up in December while working full time. She is the first in her family to have a college degree. My son is currently working on his MBA while starting up this business. My lucky little granddaughter has wonderful roll models. She should understand the need for a good education and see the amount of work it takes to achieve it. And of course her retired teacher Grandma encourages her too! LOL
Ahhhhh….I coulda been a contender…..oh well.
Morning Chips and TOD.
Hey Chips this is the video of PBO’s fundraiser at the Masonic Center in SF. He was fantastic as usual.
http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/video/6753134-raw-video-president-obama-at-san-francisco-fundraiser/
You are a STAR UT, I was looking for the speech everywhere and couldn’t find it – thanks a MILLION!
Good morning TOD family! As per our president, “the vision we share”… love the speech. Thanks for posting it. Everyone…have a wonderful Friday!
ohmygod, do you think SF loves our PBO??? And the point is
to be in love with this thing we got going on . . . this experiment for humankind
way fabulous and surprising to us all in terms of freedom and opportunity and kindness
and justice, truly, for the peoples of the world.
this speech was terrific! at this point, we pretty much recognize the script, the particular language, the cadences–and yet it’s fresh every time, because he brings such energy and integrity to the concepts. a spin-off benefit for us obots, is we have the talking points practically memorized from these repetitions! i especially love how he interacts with the crowd–it’s personal, it’s like family. we’re in this together is what he says, and it’s what he is. love this prez!
How can Liz Warren be losing by 9 points, she was just up by 8?
That is a 17 point bump for Brown? Really?
That’s a completely bizarre poll, just about the opposite of every other recent poll!
Suffolk is a bad polling organization, I believe.
That being said, Warren needs our help.
Hey, MSNBC — less flaming right wingers and more people who can set this country back on course on your line up. .
Is there a reason every time I turned on MSNBC yesterday I saw some wingnut like Perkins?
And here’s a ‘new rule’ for MSNBC: if someone has enough money to personally fund Santorum’s campaign, he is NOT ENTITLED to free air time at least twice yesterday — that Fleiss jackass who is bankrolling Santorum through Super PAC’s. he was on during the day and in prime time with LOD, who did a horrific job at putting him in his place.
yep–i just sent her a little money. (chips, i hope it’s okay to link to her contribution site here–if not, please remove, and sorry).
http://links.elizabethwarren.mkt2053.com/ctt?kn=2&ms=NDQwMDk1MAS2&r=MjA4ODQyNDgzMTQS1&b=0&j=MjYzMzk1NzI2S0&mt=1&rt=0
Warren on Maddow last night was her usual superb self. And if Massachusetts can support Brown after they realize he signed on to Roy Blunt’s health care “moral exemption” law, I will have no respect for that state.
More Warren, less Super Pac funders for Santorum on MSNBC, please.
FRicking strange I do NOT trust the Fricking polls!!!! and neither should you.

so funny! thanks for sharing amk!
Hilarious!
President Barack Obama raised $29.1 million for his reelection campaign and a joint fundraising committee of the Democratic Party, the campaign announced Friday morning.
On the president’s Twitter feed, the campaign said 98 percent of contributions were in increments of $250 or less.
Wow!!! 29 million for one month! Pretty good! February will be better!
‘A Terri Schiavo moment’
By Steve Benen
Seven years ago, there was an unexpected political hullabaloo surrounding Terri Schiavo, a Florida woman who’d been in a vegetative state for 15 years. When there was a disagreement among family members about her fate, it touched off a national controversy and unprecedented intervention from Washington.
Indeed, Congress took steps to prolong Schiavo’s life — passing legislation related to literally just this one person — and President Bush even cut short a vacation to address the issue. At the time, an internal memo was distributed by a Republican senator’s office characterizing the controversy as “a great political issue” that could pay dividends for the Republican Party with Christian conservatives.
http://maddowblog.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/02/17/10433659-a-terri-schiavo-moment
here’s a comment from the Benen post:
“As Emperor of the World, I would install a small valve in every 13 year old boy. When he could prove that he was emotionally and financially able to rear a child with a partner equally equipped, I would turn it back on, until said child appeared.”
The systemic insults to women in general — like Friess yesterday and anything Santorum says about women — is beyond outrageous. Let’s apply the same standards and same men and boys.
Seriously?! They need to be asked twice about who wants food that PBO bought?! Are they for real?! Idiots!
OFA weighs attacks on Santorum-
President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign has begun discussing whether to attack Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum and try to define him for a general-election audience, potentially breaking from its focus on Mitt Romney.

Reposting. I hope the campaign has this article from Professor Juan Cole.
Top Ten Catholic Teachings Santorum Rejects while Obsessing about Birth Control
http://www.juancole.com/2012/02/top-ten-catholic-teachings-santorum-rejects-while-obsessing-about-birth-control.html
Also, fricking how hilarious when PBO got Pete to take those pics?! How fricking awesome! I thought he’d turn to an SS to do it, but nope. Just good old spectacular Pete!!
i loved that too lisa! i expected pete to use his deluxe camera to take the pic and was surprised when i realized pete was using the patron’s small pink camera or cell phone camera.
Good Morning…. I am bringing this from the previous thread.
http://sanfrancisco.cbslocal.com/video/6751890-obama-surprises-sf-chinatown-restaurant-patrons/
The reporter is pathetic saying that the Bay Area is just an” ATM ” for the President ?
Saying that he was greeted as a ” Conquering Hero ” at the Restaurant ?
Saying that he is ” forcing ” Churches and Religious Institutions to pay for Birth Control ?
Disgraceful
agree with you Linda, I watched that yesterday.. and the “reporter” was so transparent in her BS, I finally shut it off. Its good that we’re all so tuned into that sort of language- because those are definitely trigger words/ phrases that are being constantly pushed by the republicans.. amazing isn’t it, how willing & capable the media is in repeating republican talking points?
Santorum was just asked about Foster French Fries remarks, he compared it to Rev Wright and said he is not responsible for what others say.
And yet, that did not stop the media from covering Rev Wright for 2 weeks. That was probably the worst reporting I have ever seen, and the media has not stopped since.
Now, Santorum wants different more privileged coverage, then the Black guy. Really?
Then he should get the Rev. Wright coverage. Hypocrites.
Also, he said the media defended the President on Rev Wright.
Does anybody remember the media sticking up for the President, during that Rev Wright flap?
Rewrite history, will ya?
This is basically to make the msm kiss their rw asses harder.
The Republicans feel that their role on earth is to rewrite history. As one of the members of the Bush administration said, they create their own reality and try to force the rest of the world to accept it.
Nope,Jovie, I remember a constant drumbeat of criticism and the running of the Rev. Wright tape on a 24-hour loop. PBO was accused of guilt by association, Well, Ricky, seems you me you’re “associating” with this misogynist and his backward views are just are more honest statement of yours.
Rick Santorum is a lying sick bastard, the media did not defend this President.
Let me get this straight. A person who is the main source of funding for Santorum and is a close friend of Santorum, and supports Santorum because their belief system aligns, is the same as a person who was pastor of a church which the President attended. Definite disconnect there.
And when the President was asked about some specific remarks, he did say he disagreed with some of them (even thogh what Wright said was frequently quoted out of context) whereas Santorum refuses to answer the question of whether or not he agrees with Fries.
Oh my effing God: Freiss is bankrolling Santorum right now. Was Wright bankrolling Pres. Obama? Not hardly.
And I will keep saying it: how dare MSNBC give that monster FREE air time. let him PAY every time he wants to get his ideas on the air. Shame on them.
A double standard, but, but Rev Wright is Black. but we should not let Fries remarks un challage
let’s be sure to let everyone in the country that the GOP is a war against all women.
hey Jovie…
the difference is this…Fries is finanacing Santorum campaign..Rev Wright was not…
I saw that. It made me cringe how uninformed and downright stupid she was. I’m giving her the benefit of doubt here, the worst thing I can call her is a repug shill.
Ah………. This was in response to a link someone carried over from the last thread. The one with that idiot news lady who spewed that uninformed bull about PBO ‘forcing’ the catholic churches to cover contraception. But ah, I don’t see that post anymore, so ah……. Yeah. Let’s never mention this again…( not the subject, but the fact that the post I responded to is no longer here……..)
WASHINGTON—President Barack Obama’s re-election drive raised $29.1 million in January, according to a new report released Friday–as campaigns start reporting monthly totals with the Federal Election Commission.
The campaign highlighted the percentage of small donors, stating in another tweet at 5:59 a.m. est Friday, “Of January donations to #Obama2012, 98% were $250 or less. Thanks to everyone who pitched in.”
Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and First Lady Michelle have all been on fund-raising swings in January collecting millions of dollars through headlining major donor events for a combined Obama 2012 and Democratic National Committee 2012 fund.
http://blogs.suntimes.com/sweet/2012/02/obama_re-election_drive_raises.html
Today on Morning Junk …they were all giddy that the payroll tax cut, the unemployment insurance and the doc fix got done 11 days before the deadline…Yippee!
Well duh……….they have a 10 day vacation starting on Monday that would bump into the expiration date.
I watched a little bit of it because Lawrence was on….although I’m very disappointed he had the fraud Huffington on last night.
So he talked about Mitt Romney…that he never saw a more cynical politician. That he ran to the left of Ted Kennedy, the positions he had when he ran for Governor…that he would say anything to be elected…etc….
So it was all true of course…
But then …..David Gregory.
Seriously, is he on the Romney campaign payroll?….like seriously!!!
He said something like it was a matter of perception….that Romney has to redefine himself…He said that when you look at Mitt Romney’s life, his career, his values that it was impossible not to see that Mitt Romney was HIGHLY qualified to be president….
And than he talked about Bill Clinton having problems like Romney about perception….
So anyway it was like a Romney campaign ad…..what a RW tool that Gregory is…..it was disgusting
As someone mentioned last night, LOD my well be pshing for a Santorum/Obama race, as that would result in a worse defeat of the Republicans than Goldwater did. Gregory, on the other hand, sees Romney as the only Republican that can still make the party look halfway sane.
Does Gregory even pretend to be impartial any more?
No
No, NO. and NOOOOOOO! Gregolry is a Republican and carried the water for the GOP
so let’s be sure we never watch his fucking show on Sundays.
No he doesn’t. He is not worthy to be the moderator of Meet The Press. NBC needs to reign this man in because he is anything but impartial.
Happy Friday everyone. This has been a fascinating last couple of weeks. I am just so glad to be a part of this historic moment. Have a good day all.
Though I miss commenting during the day, I look forward to my evenings and catching and reading up. I can’t wait for the weekend to delve into Tally’s last piece.
Good day everyone.
BLESS YOU FOR THE GREAT VIDEOS CHIP…I’LL CATCH PBO LATER AT BOEING…COOKING FOR A HOMELESS FEED TODAY…BBL…:)
LINcredible!
I knew Harkin would be pissed at the President.
But I did not expect him to say he is unraveling Social Security.
That is an ad, waiting to be made.
What an asshole!
Trust incompetent Dems to crap here they eat.
Harkin is a fool! He gets mad and goes on the floor excoriating the President in the payroll taxcut.
Which is exactly what the Republicans want!
Here is my e-mail to Harkin.
I hope you realize that when you get in front of a camera with Press_tuites watching….what you say goes viral .
Your comment that our Wonderful President is
” unraveling Social Security ” will show up in an ad against him regardless of who the opposition candidate may be..
It seems to me…that you and the Democrats are the ones who need to get yourselves together and get us a tax increase on the wealthy
( you know…people that make a lot of money..YOU…your colleagues, your contributors, your best buddies ) instead of placing the blame on the President….It is Congress that has the power to change the tax codes….stop the loopholes and subsidies and give a ways to the Corporate Hogs.
DO YOUR JOB and STOP BLAMING PRESIDENT OBAMA FOR YOUR OWN FAILURES TO LEGISLATE. WE ARE TIRED OF YOUR EXCUSES !!!!!!!!

Good one.
Well done Linda. The pathetic good-for-nothing congress critters have been a drag on this prez.
Excellent Linda.
Republicans are continuing their gradual pivot away from the Paul Ryan Medicare plan they once voted for overwhelmingly — another tacit admission that the blueprint is too radical to pass. But they haven’t given up on the concept — far from it. In fact, they’re searching for more tactful ways to bring it to fruition.
The latest evidence came Thursday, when Republican Sens. Tom Coburn (OK) and Richard Burr (NC) rolled out a sweeping new plan that would transition Medicare to a subsidized private insurance system while giving seniors the option to remain in the traditional government-run program — think “Obamacare” exchanges with a public option.
Both of the senators voted for the Ryan blueprint that ends traditional Medicare, but they made it clear that their new plan won’t do that. “Unlike other Medicare reform proposals that have been introduced, we’re not eliminating fee-for-service or traditional Medicare,” Burr told reporters. “But what fee-for-service should have to do is it should have to compete with what the private sector can lay on the table also.”
http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2012/02/gops-tactful-pivot-from-ryan-medicare-plan.php?m=1
Albeit, Medicare is a mess, I dont think we should privatize it.
At first glance I thought this was candy
Good morning TOD family!
Let me just say that SF was Fired Up last night!
The saying goes: “You govern with prose and you campaign in poetry”. That speech last night in SF was pure “Obama Poetry”. The biggest difference between President Obama and other politicians is that his poetry is backed up with the fact that he was able to garner many accomplishments in his first term. He is such an inspiration to us all. I read on twitter last night that that Huff woman said that the Republicans should be selling the idea that we are not better off today than we were 4 years ago. My response to her is: the hell we are! Jobs are coming back: the economy is on the mend; consumers are spending again because the fell more confident; housing is slowly but surely picking up; we have health care reform; too big to fail will never happen again and I could go on and on.
Listening to this great man just makes you want to get up and go do whatever is needed to ensure 4 More 4/44. We are blessed to be living in a time where we are witnessing such a great leader.
Absolutely! I am FIRED UP AND PROUD TO BE AN OBAMACRAT!
My partner and I saw Arianna on LOD last night. She is not the political junkie like me and immediately said : “That woman is a republican”, where I responded, “More like a Trojan horse”. I’ve been wondering whether or not to e-mail LOD. His show basically sucked sulfuric eggs.
Good Morning, TODers. Have a wonderful Friday.
Funny how your partner can spot these fake ass “liberals” yet the stupid fucking press lauds these people as real progressive voices.
I’m really disappointed in LOD right now at giving that imposter that platform : roll:
That witch is definitely better off than she was 4 years ago. She was able to parlay other people’s work, that she did not pay for, into a multi-million dollar payday. Her acute lack of self-awareness prevents her from realising it was the 2008 campaign (and PBO’s participation in it) that elevated her site’s perceived importance and value. So, she should be thanking PBO instead of slamming him.
that’s just what i said after watching that speech this morning: what a gift to be alive right now, watching this turn of history toward the positive, the humane, the rational. pbo had his place in history, just for being elected. but he has much more in mind, and works hard, every day, to make a lasting impact on governance. thank heaven!
That long footage of PBO in chinatown was amazing! yesterday we had that incredible footage of FLOTUS greeting at the white house and now with this chinatown footage too from the same day, be still my beating heart!
Good Morning, Everyone
Oi sleepy head, where have you been?
Morning rikyrah!
Chips – heads up
Thanks amk – you know me and my time zone muddles, is that speech not on til later today?
It’s happening now though the feed for me is too slow.
http://www.whitehouse.gov/live/president-obama-speaks-boeing-everett-production-facility
Dead slow.
Amk?! What are you seeing???
It’s still early on the West Coast!! PBO is probably still in the gym!!
False alarm. Nothing to see now till 2.25 est. Here I was whining about the feed being slow. Talk about being slow.
Ah, okay – I was running out of fingers trying to figure out timezone differences, hopelessly confused!!
lol ”I was running out of fingers”……I have the same problem Chips….always confuse with time zones…..even one hour difference is enough to confuse me.
*confused…..
I enjoy it so much when President Obama is on the road…out of Washington!!….
I was running out of fingers trying to figure out timezone differences, hopelessly confused!!
I’ve heard that is a feature of man u fans what with trying to keeping up with the goals against them, matches lost etc.
(ebil laugh).
Our President must’ve just gotten out of bed. It’s only 6:51AM!
President Barack Obama’s re-election organization and a related Democratic National Committee effort raised a combined $29.1 million in January, his campaign said in a Twitter posting.
About 98 percent of the January contributions came in amounts of $250 or less, the campaign said.
Ahhhh not bad for one month but we can do better:
Can you make a $5.00 donation to help fuel our President’s re-election?
https://donate.barackobama.com/page/outreach/view/2012/donnanoshock3
yes, i can make a donation! thanks for getting his back, donna!
p.s. you’re getting close to your goal–congrats!
Thank you so much susanne!!
Good Morning! AF1 on the way, clear the air space, traffic controllers stay focussed and clear. Guessing they might land at Boeing in Everett, Paine Field? Usually it’s Boeing Field. For some reason Friday’s Good won’t play, warning about content, haven’t seen this happen before?
Wow, the crowd in SF was really fired up.
Yup I’m listening now. They love their President! SFO loves PBO!
Especially that ‘Statue of Liberty’ woman at the start!
Good morning beautiful people of the TOD family! Hope everyone’s having a great day.
Wow…I see I have so much catching up to do from the past two days. So much good stuff from both FLOTUS and POTUS! I think I might OD.
Well, Im off to watch all the videos and drool at the pictures.
wapo is a bit late, ain’t it ?
Seriously.
Pat Buchanan: “My Days As A Political Analyst At MSNBC Have Come To An End”
In his new syndicated column headlined “The New Blacklist,” Pat Buchanan announces that he is departing from MSNBC. He devotes much of the column to lashing out against organizations that have called for him to be held accountable for his bigoted rhetoric:
A group called Color of Change, whose mission statement says that it “exists to strengthen Black America’s political voice,” claimed that my book espouses a “white supremacist ideology.” Color of Change took particular umbrage at the title of Chapter 4, “The End of White America.

What a crybaby…
hey you guys, did anyone ever get ahold of anyone at OFA? about the weird push for $$ on the phone? I was just wondering
Pinkbunny92 mentioned it on a thread yesterday. Here’s what she posted:
// I just got a call from someone from OFA, and he was also really pushing me hard for a donation. He asked me for $1900. I told him that I’ve already donated several times this month to OFA, and that I’ll probably do it next month. But he kept pushing, and I then remembered I also gave $1000 to Priorities USA! So he finally let it go, but I think he was disappointed with me! I don’t think he was happy //
http://theobamadiary.com/2012/02/16/evening-all-38/#comments
Apparently, it’s highly suspect. Maybe Axelrod should be informed of this.
i think so too. hmmm. ok so, obvious question, does anyone have The Axe following them on twiiter? Or J. Messina? they could direct message him. I don’t want to just tweet that because it seems like not a good thing to just broadcast to the general public. We’re already talking about it so, I’m going to go over to the donation contact page and email them through that with a path back to here to look at our comments. if there is something going on I hope they know about it by now.
Actually meta had a good suggestion to report it directly to the OFA HQ:
// pinkbunny, Sue was saying here earlier that she had a very similar experience with someone from OFA Colorado pressuring her for a donation. I think you should report this to OFA HQ. It doesn’t sound like OFA and I’m wondering if their system has either been hacked or they’ve hired an agency to do their fundraising. It’s very rude and improper and shouldn’t continue.
OFA HQ: 312-698-3670 //
http://theobamadiary.com/2012/02/16/evening-all-38/#comments
ooo. that’s better. i’ll email anyway seeing i’m at work, but i think it’s better to call.
Wow what a great way to start off the day. Hello TOD Family happy Friday. Oh well gotta go the professor is giving me the side eye see you later family.
BEFORE CURRENT BIRTH-CONTROL FIGHT, REPUBLICANS BACKED MANDATES
Republicans are fighting a birth-control rule in President Obama’s healthcare law, but several states have enacted contraceptive mandates with the support of GOP lawmakers and governors.
http://www.latimes.com/health/la-na-gop-contraceptives-20120216,0,3392996.story
Good morning Chips and wonderful people of TODville. It is so great to wake up and see that beautiful smile. The shark difference between our cool and sane President and these crazy Teapibs could not be more evident. How can anyone still support these people. We must put our wonderful Nancy back in charge of the House so this country can be strong again.
Lol @ the statue of liberty lady.

Obama’s White Whale
How the campaign’s top-secret project Narwhal could change this race, and many to come.
http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/victory_lab/2012/02/project_narwhal_how_a_top_secret_obama_campaign_program_could_change_the_2012_race_.single.html
A fascinating read. Read it.
from the above piece
Permanently linking the campaign’s various databases in real time has become one of the major projects for Obama’s team this year. Full data integration would allow the campaign to target its online communication as sharply as it does its offline voter contact. When it comes to sensitive subjects like contraception, the campaign could rely on its extensive predictive models of individual attitudes and preferences to find friendly recipients. In the case of Cutter’s blast, that might mean pulling email addresses only for those who had identified themselves as women on their registration forms and whose voter records included a flag marking them as likely pro-abortion rights.
More broadly, Narwhal would bring new efficiency across the campaign’s operations. No longer will canvassers be dispatched to knock on the doors of people who have already volunteered to support Obama. And if a donor has given the maximum $2,500 in permitted contributions, emails will stop hitting him up for money and start asking him to volunteer instead. Those familiar with Narwhal’s development say the completion of such a technical infrastructure would also be a gift to future Democratic candidates who have struggled to organize political data that has been often arbitrarily siloed depending on which software vendor had primacy at a given moment.
Alright amk – we’re on the same wavelength here
Chips you may delete my duplicate post!!!
Nah, the more, the merrier.
Done, Hopefruit!! How are you doing today?
Hiya Chips – doing very well (THANK YOU!!), thoroughly enjoying my Rise and Shine!
Ah, good to hear Hopefruit, you’re looking good this morning!
That is great! The money will find itself back into the economy right away. After paying a few bills, most people will go take out and spend, spend, spend.
47, 500 more votes for President Obama.
You left out their family votes ? Hope they all have big families.
Heeellllloooo All! What a great getting up day in OTown! In honor of TGIF, I’m posting a link to my campaign fundraising page. Remember no amount is too small, every little bit helps. Of course if you missed the $38,000 plate dinner in California, here’s a chance to donate here. You won’t be surrounded by celebrities, but maybe I can dig up a picture of one if you’d like. https://donate.barackobama.com/page/outreach/view/2012/cookemom
Cookemom, that kid is cuuuuuuuuuuuute!!!
When I get a chance the next day or two I’m going to provide permament links to OFA fundraisers run by people here, including yours – there can never be enough!
PS You know the way a different name shows up for me everytime I click on OFA? Today I’m ‘Peggy Pierce’. I was a man from Alabama last week.
Thanks Chips, that’s my grandson taken the same month PBO won the election. Yes a OFA fundraising link in one place would be great. I don’t have a problem with OFA anymore. I solved it by only lurking occasionally over there. Other than fundraising and GOTV efforts, me and OFA kinda unattached our hip bones.
He’s a beautiful boy, the cutest. I’m guessing my OFA problems are browser/cookie related, although I still have no clue why other people’s names show up for me. I let them know about it, but they’re still working on it
Thank you, Chips. That would be awesome. I haven’t been able to do hardly any fundraising at all this time around.
Do you really want everyone to know your real name?
For all you motorcade fans (like me), San Francisco yesterday:
LOVE it. I wonder whether folks religiously looked out for Dubya’s motorcades? Is there footage of folks standing in the streets clapping and cheering as Dubya rode by?
Oh Hopefruit, Dubya ALWAYS got a warm welcome:
And I know we should have been HORRIFIED by this, but……
Didn’t he have to stay inside of the car because it was being pelted with eggs ? I think there is clip of that around….
Loved these, but the first video at the end states January 20, 2000, I thought he was elected in 200, and the inauguration was Jan 2001.
I did not see that…..but you are correct.
I had never seen that booing one before….. Ouch ! That was mean.
Mean, perhaps, but deserved, even justifiable…
Wow, I was only 9 yrs old when Bush was inaugurated in 2001 but I remember people being upset.
Nine?!? Okay, now I feel reeeeeeeeeeeally old
Lol, I apologize.
Apology accepted Collegekay – but next time you remind me that I’m not as young as I think I am, I’ll post a pic of Newt in his mankini. Got that?
Chips, when I see things like that, I no longer feel old. Actually l am glad to see the younger generation is showing good sense and will be there to make sure I am taken care of when I really get old. Which will be pretty soon.
True Japa, I just still think I’m, oooh, 15 ….. so it always comes as a shock to realize I’m a couple of years older than that. ** Cough **
I look forward to the day you turn 21 Chips – when you can drink, drive, vote, everything that we adults do!
Oh dear, collegekay WILL tread softly on this one, out of her compassion for really old ladies (like me) whose hearts are just can’t take it when Mankini pops up on our iPad screen without warning!
Right, CK?)
Ewwww. I’ll definitely keep that in consideration.
9!! Girl you are younger than me. I was 10 going on 11. My bday is on the 29th of January. Yep I was mad too.
I was born in 91. My birthday is a day after PBO’s
I’d say that was cold
But then I remember him lying us into war and the shit weve had to endure becaue of it
So on that note; BOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
That clip of the booing reminds me of the fact that I was at the Inauguration amidst the crowd and the boos were so loud I couldn’t even believe it. When I got home and watched my tivoed Inauguration on tv I noticed no booing. I think it was all flitered out so anyone not there would not have realized the level of joy expressed by the changing of Presidents. The booing versa the cheering was stark. I had noticed while at the Inauguration the booing actually began when Cheney’s face came on the screen.
Rachel Maddow continues to do exemplary reporting on GOP hypocrisy and birth control
=====================================================================
Rachel Maddow points out that contrary to recent Republican Party outrage, requiring insurance coverage of contraception has been an idea the Republican Party has historically supported. The segment also points out that Senator Bob Dole has done ads for Viagra. And the comments from Foster Friess yesterday was a perfect bookend to the Dole Viagra ads. It’s really amazing that now you can’t watch television without being bombarded with ED ads.
1) Hypocrisy be damed, Republican Party milks the contraception issue

2) Elizabeth Warren on the threat of Republican rollbacks

The radio also is hideously flooded with ED ads, must be lot of money to be made selling to the impotent.
Cayucos’ Jodi Fisher meets President Obama in San Francisco
// As President Barack Obama leaned over the fence to embrace Jodi Fisher on Thursday, another of her dreams was realized.
In an astonishing journey that began just days ago, the Cayucos woman has not only inspired a multitude of others by sharing her battle with inoperable cancer, but she’s been graced by that compassion coming full circle.
Fisher’s wish to meet Obama, included on her bucket list — which she also called a “fun” list — was fulfilled when two local residents read her story in The Tribune four days earlier and took a chance by asking if anything could be done to make it happen.
On Thursday, Fisher, with a smile beaming on her face, met the president after he landed at San Francisco International Airport for a campaign swing. Fisher, 44, was joined by her husband, Shawn, and two children, Callie, 11, and Jonah, 9.
“I felt like I was holding all the other people who have cancer with me,” Fisher said. //

““If you believe in something, you might as well put it out there. Never doubt it,” Fisher said. “This story shows that it is not just because I have cancer. People are kind, and even the smallest of pay-it-forward gestures make huge things happen — it is possible.” Her desire to meet Obama was born of her struggle with cancer.
“I feel like he is a person who really does care about people,” Fisher said. “He is a dad, a husband, and he lost his mom to cancer. … I look up to him and can only imagine how frustrating it would be to be president and not be able to make changes.”
Fisher said the frustration of dealing with insurance companies and continually advocating for the medical treatments she needs can be exhausting.
“I get frustrated just with medical issues — can you imagine being president of the United States?” Fisher said. “No matter what political party you are, if you care about something, you should go after it and make change.”
In a letter she wrote before meeting Obama — which he took from her and slipped into his pocket — she affirmed her support for him.
“I told him to remain calm and carry on,” Fisher said. “Then I asked him if I could be president for the day.”
It’s Fisher’s quick wit, confidence and optimism that have carried her and loved ones through her battle.
On Thursday, Fisher’s parents, Doug and Pam Hamp of Morro Bay, watched her meet the president on a live newscast carried online by a Bay Area television channel.”

What a lovely story.
Must… hold…. back… tears….
By the way; such a shame Obama can’t connect with people.
President Obama is an inspiration to me…..what a good and decent man……
Too right on this, chrstiMTL!
GOOD Morning, TODville!!
This has been a tremendously uplifting week. We are on the mend and on the march toward fairness and justice, thanks to PBO and his incredible team. And all of us who believe, stand, walk and hope. Oh, yes we can.
yes!
Won’t link to it, but GOPolitico has a story up about interview Bruce Springsteen gave where he says he still supports the President but is disappointed that some things took so long. Really? I am so over these folks who don’t have the almost impossible job of governing and governing as our President has had to amidst racism and the opposition of the GOP complaining about PBO not solving all the country’s problems a month after he took office.
Americans are the most ungrateful bunch I have ever seen. No wonder our reputation around the world is so bad. I am disgusted at Bruce. I’ll make sure to be disappointed in his music from now on.
Maybe Bruce can do a Soundtrack for Matt Damon’s next movie to bomb at the box office.
I am sick of these complainers who have posse’s of Yes men catering to their every whim within minutes……..F Them….who needs em.?
Saying he is disappointed some things took so long is not the same as saying he is disappointed with the President. I am disappointed some things took so long as well, such as repeal of DADT or HCR or other things. But I am not disappointed with the President as without him, none of those things would have happened at all. You can be sure GOPolitico would write the story in such as wy as to make it seem that The Boss is disappointed with the President, but that doesn’t mean he is.
True!
Yes, I would like to see the actual interview – not GOPolitico’s slanted anti-Obama interpretation of that interview.
What you guys say is true. It’s Politico the GOP lying rag. I should know they can’t be trusted. So I hope Bruce was misquoted.
Okay, it seems that the Politico article was taken from an AFP (not sure what those initials mean exactly) article that described the Bruce Springsteen interview. There is no video footage of the interview and they provide direct quotes of what Springsteen supposedly said. If their quotes are accurate (and that’s a big IF, since we know that media outlets can and do LIE when they feel like it), then Springsteen did in fact list some areas that he’s disappointed with PBO, e.g:
// Rock star Bruce Springsteen said on Thursday he still supported US President Barack Obama but indicated he would not be taking part in the campaign to get him re-elected…Springsteen said he thought Obama had a mixed record… Obama was “more friendly to corporations than I thought he would be, (and) there’s not as many middle-class or working-class voices heard in the administration as I thought there would be,” said Springsteen. “I would like to have seen more activism in job creation sooner than it came, I would like to have seen people helped out, seen some of these (home) foreclosures stopped somehow.” //

See my comment below. Also, I am curious as to how long you think the repeal of DADT and HCR should have taken and how you arrived at your timeframe.
Not a question of “sahould have taken”. I would have liked to see them move faster, but with Congress being such a bunch of chicken-sh-, Dems included, I can’t hold the President responsible.
I guess what I’m getting at is if one does not have inside knowledge, how would one know if something has taken too long to accomplish or if it’s right on schedule or if it was actually achieved ahead of schedule. And even though I’m posing this question to you, it’s really for anyone who has that concern. Because personally having never worked in the upper echelons of government, I can honestly say I have no idea how long these types of changes should take and because I trust PBO and his judgement I am satisfied that the pace of change is reasonable and acceptable. Afterall, he’s only been president for 3 years and both of those policy changes happened within his first two years. That seems pretty quick to me. I am certain if PBO had dictatorial powers he could make things happen in an instant but when you consider that in a democracy he has many people, agencies and departments he has to work with and within to get things done, it’s just not possible to know if something is taking too long to achieve or not, again, unless you have inside knowledge.
I have no problem with what Bruce said. If PBO himself can say again and again “I made mistakes” then it’s OK for people who really support him to say they’re disappointed by this or that. Doesn’t make them any less supportive. I was disappointed by many things, but no one in the media wants to know what I’m thinking…:)
But we do.
I would really LOVE to have seen the actual interview – and there is clearly a reason why the outlet who broke the story isn’t showing the video. They wanted to spin a narrative of “Springsteen dumping Obama” That’s clearly the intent of the AFP article, and GOPlitico. There is no mention of congress or the Republicans in the article. Why would Springsteen discuss the president’s “mixed record” without factoring in the Republicans and/or congress? That makes absolutely no sense to me. The entire article is basically features an unenthusiastic Springsteen being as unenthusiastic as he could possibly be without outright saying that he doesn’t support the President. Talk about damning with faint praise. Obama is “friendly to corporations?” That is an FDL/HuffnPuff talking point right there.
re: disppointment in the President…
there was a link that Chips posted awhile ago RE: how African Americans have the President’s back….it was very telling…perhsps when we are “disappointed” we should read that…
Presssssssssssss ON!
I am in NO ways tired!
When you consider how difficult progress has been throughout the history of this country and even the world, I don’t get how anyone, particularly politcal novices, can think they know how long any change in government should take. It would be like someone who knows nothing about open heart surgery telling the surgeon you did a good job but it took too long.
On second thought, because Bruce has been a supporter of PBO it is possible he was misquoted or may have been referring to Congress. Politico was the same rag that carried the lingerie story which was a complete lie.
We are all disappointed that some things took so long, but that doesn’t mean anyone is blaming the President. I still have trouble understanding politics that puts the American people and the economy at risk. It is definitely not the President.
What I truly do not get when I hear these disappointed stories is why are the disappointed people not upset with the GOP who have blocked everything or prevented any chance of voting on bills by their filabusters? Are the American people so poorly educated that they think the President acts in a vacuum? Maybe the media is disguising the truth from these adults. It seems that they should be able to research and check things out for themselves. I overlook the Rush Limbaugh dittoheads and Foxbots as I realize they are intellectually lazy or just plain stupid and allow themselves to be fed all information trusting it is correct but only from their heroes. Atleast I have not heard so much from Glen Beck these days.

Sorry, Jovie, Puget Sound…. I can feel the energy moving, and air space has been lovely and silent for a while! Welcome back, Mr. President! Did I ever tell you guys that my daughter graduated from the same middle school Stanley Ann attended when her family lived in this area? The school is about 4 blocks from here…..
Let the GOP continue undermining women. They are in for a rude awakening.
I love these snarky axe needle pricks.
New post everyone, catch you all later

Does anyone know if there is a site that shows the Geographic Breakdown of where the donations are coming from ?
President Obama has that touch with children. He picked up the baby crying and then after a few seconds, the baby calmed down lol He’s an amazing Baby Whisperer in Chief!
Is there any video footage?
Risking a trip to the naughty mat here, but he looks GOOD in those pictures.
I blame my almost two week absense for the extensive oogling.
