Am I the last to see this story?
Cognidissidence: The right wing propaganda site Politico was so eager to try to do a smear job on President Barack Obama and his visit to Milwaukee that they failed to look before they leaped and ended up landing into a pile of foolishness with both feet.
Yup, they mistook the Wisconsin state flag as being the flag of Wisconsin Local 1848.
Once they realized how stupid they looked, they deleted the post …. but thanks to the power of Google Cache, you can see it for yourself.
More here

Donovan Slack is the ‘reporter’ who had the story on Politico about Michelle Obama buying $50,000 worth of lingerie …. but never followed it up with the admission from the English paper, that first reported it, that it was untrue.

Yes We Must
To be fair to FDR I think he was starting out with an unemployment rate of 25%.
Indeed, he was. The message is that it took 3 terms as President and a war to recover the economy. People suffered greatly from 1933 until 1945. But, Americans hung together and were way more patient than most have been willing to be during the past three years. And, FDR did not have a Congress and a Press doing absolutely everything possible to undermine both his Presidency and the Republic.
So, the message is not one of disrespect for FDR but a statement of reality. President Obama in 3 years, not 3 terms, has ended one war (an illegal one, at that), is ending a second war that should have been over within 2 years of when it was started, established health care reform that has eluded every President since Teddy Roosevelt, and literally prevented an almost certain global depression what would have dwarfed the GD – and done a bunch more – all of which you know.
It’s time for eliminating any validity that the professional left, in all its flavors, has. Their view of FDR is mythological, not factual. Their view of President Obama is a vast distortion of both what he confronted and all that he has achieved and they refuse to recognize the unrestrained zeal of the GOP, various Congressional Dems, and the bulk of the US corporate media have exhibited in their efforts to cause him to fail – irrespective of how badly it would harm the USA.
Hope this clarification is helpful, derbingle.
#PRESSON
hear hear – couldn’t have said it better
Bravo! Hear, Hear about de-legitimizing the Far Left as a voice of reason.
Thank you bobfr!
I don’t know. As General Smedley Butler later explained some powerful people wanted him to lead a coup d’état. That’s a threat to the Republic. As for undermining his Presidency by 1937 his own party had for all intent and purposes killed the New Deal. You had some powerful media outlets like Father Coughlin (who made Rush Limbaugh look like a nice guy) and newspapers like The Chicago Tribune that hated FDR’s guts. And the words socialist and communist were hurled at him frequently along with brutal assaults on his wife.
Having said that I agree with you about eliminating PL validity. They’re hucksters who have been running this con game since before the President was inaugurated. Time to put them out to pasture.
Your last three sentences are the reason for the 140 character tweet. Please improve on it any way you can.
And, yes, I’m deeply familiar with the good and honorable General Butler and the the vile Father Coughlin.
Thank you for the informative dialogue.

Yes We Must
I appreciate that Bobfr and thank you very much. The PL is headed for the dustbin of obscurity. They just don’t know it yet
Someone also tried to assassinate FDR I remember but it failed miserably. I can’t remember the guys name but the guy did it because he blamed the president and US in general for all his problems.
That was Guiseppi Zangara. He shot five people, killing Anton Cernak, the mayor of Chicago. People thought his intended target was FDR
I just learned about an assassination attempt on him before he was even inaugurated. Roosevelt was unharmed but the mayor of Chicago at that time Anton Cermak was hit and died of his wounds two weeks later.
Sorry about that maryl1. You beat me to it.
Bob, as usual, you pull it all together and make it sharp and short. From today’s perspective, it’s impossible to understand the very different role of the media in FDR’s day. Nobody tried to humiliate him about his paralysis or use it to suggest he wasn’t up to the job. Instead the press cooperated with FDR in keeping his condition largely secret from the public. Today a 24 hour news cycle would chronicle every difficulty he had taking a step. They would probe into his infidelity to Eleanor and plaster ugly photos of him and his lover on every station and newspaper. He would be vilified every day of the week as PBO is. FDR had an overwhelmingly Democratic congress that worked with him. Today’s obstructionism would have been unthinkable even by those who opposed every one of his policies. As you say, there is just no comparison between the times. Anyone who tries to measure PBO’s accomplishments without reference to the hostile media and political environment in which we live is either deliberately ignorant or naturally obtuse.
Precisely, Jackie. And with this sentence …
“Anyone who tries to measure PBO’s accomplishments without reference to the hostile media and political environment in which we live is either deliberately ignorant or naturally obtuse.”
…. you capture the essence of just how exceptional our President is.
He said he would work for all of us, every single day, no matter what. He meant it and the facts are undeniable that he has.
#PRESSON
This country was birthed through, grown through and maintained through violence. Or at least the thought of it.
Bravo, Bravo! Bobfr! There is absolutely no question FDR was a great President (except for his seeming timidity, IMHO, about forthrightly addressing racism, especially the crime of lynching, unlike the First Lady, Eleanor Roosevelt who courageously championed civil rights). What you so ably stated is that in the first term of FDR’s administration the economic misery and hardships he inherited were still going on. Obviously he embarked on many aggressive policies to attack the Depression but these policies did not result in instant success. Besides, some of his New Deal policies were obstructed by the Conservative Supreme Court. Despite the fact that the country was still under the grip of Depression when FDR run for re-election, he was able to win re-election not because he had solved everything, but because the economy was going in the right direction. True, unemployment had gone down but it was still in the upper double digits. In the Black communities, in 1936, unemployment rate was still in the 40-50% ranges. Besides, Some of FDR’s signature legislations, Such as the 1935 Social Security Act, and 1935 Wagner Act that permitted collective bargaining for labor unions, were enacted in his third year in office. By the time he run for re-elections many of these sweeping New Deal policies had not yet taken effect. Others, like minimum wage, forty-hour work week, end to child labor, etc., were enacted in his second term.
My contention, which supports what you wrote, is that the country was not yet out of the Depression when the great FDR was re-elected for both the second and third terms. As you so succinctly wrote in your tweeter message, It took three terms and the vast mobilization of WWII to finally break the back of the Depression and end high unemployment. If FDR was measured by the same standards that President Obama is being measured by, then he should never have been re-elected in 1936, or 1940, because the country was still in the grips of the Great Depression. And, as the article shared by desertflower from the “addictinginformation” blog, President Obama is not even being measured by the same standards used to evaluate Ronald Reagan who inherited much less catastrophic economic conditions than President Obama. By any objective standards, President Obama has done an exceptional job given the conditions he inherited. To assert otherwise is, IMO, dishonest.
Totally agree!! Why should Presidents get term limits? Senators don’t!
Actually, what we need, imho, are term limits for Reps, Senators and SCOTUS.
For Reps – no more than 2 consecutive terms with the option after being out of the HoR for at least 10 years to run again – same term limit.
For Senators – no more than 2 terms, ever.
For SCOTUS – one 10 year term, ever.
Two terms for the President is reasonable and should be limited to only 2 terms consecutive, or not.
BTW, thank you for your excellent Tweets!! (and RTs)
#PRESSON
I know what you mean about term limits, but sometimes not having the ability to run again creates the what have I got to lose attitude. I think that maybe affecting the choices being made by the governor from MD right now.
Whoops! Not the gov of MD but the gov of VA. You know the probe guy.
Yes. And, I understand your point.
However, when positions in any branch of our government become careers the dangers far outweigh the advantages. 4 consecutive years in the House and 8 consecutive years in the Senate and 10 consecutive years as a Supreme Court justice are ample time to allow a committed public servant to contribute to policy and governance of our democracy.
Coupling the institution of term limits with strict restrictions of the funding of election campaigns would go a long way to improving on what is now an obvious mess.
And, by the behavior of many of those in Congress, recently the Presidency (Bush), and Supreme Court one could not imagine a more ‘what do I have to lose attitude.’
Thank you OG for the conversation. Hope you have a pleasant Presidents’ Day weekend.
#PRESSoN
How about this Bobfr:
Warren Buffett, in a recent interview with CNBC, offers one of the best quotes about the debt ceiling:
“I could end the deficit in 5 minutes,” he told CNBC. “You just
pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more
than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible
for re-election.
The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds)
took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple!
The people demanded it. That was in 1971 – before computers, e-mail,
cell phones, etc.
Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took one (1) year
or less to become the law of the land – all because of public pressure.
Warren Buffet is asking each addressee to forward this email to
a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask
each of those to do likewise.
In three days, most people in The United States of America will
have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed
around.
Congressional Reform Act of 2012 _
1. No Tenure / No Pension.
A Congressman/woman collects a salary while in office and receives no
pay when they’re out of office.
2. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social
Security.
All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the
Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into
the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the
American people. It may not be used for any other purpose.
3. Congress can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all
Americans do.
4. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise.
Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.
5. Congress loses their current health care system and
participates in the same health care system as the American people.
6. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the
American people.
7. All contracts with past and present Congressmen/women are void
effective 1/1/13. The American people did not make this
contract with Congressmen/women.
Congressmen/women made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in
Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers
envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their
term(s), then go home and back to work.
I’m a solid supporter of what Mr. Buffett has proposed.
Thank you
#PRESSON
Bobfr, I respectfully disagree about term limits. I don’t think Teddy Kennedy’s replacement, or West Virginia’s Robert Byrd’s replacement have been an improvement on the Senate. Likewise, I would take a lifelong John Paul Stevens and Thurgood Marshall over Sam Alito and Clarence Thomas. Sometimes secure and experienced people tend to act more wisely than insecure and inexperienced people. I do, however, understand the importance of infusing new blood in the system to counter complacency. I think the rationale for limiting the Presidency to two terms makes sense because we want to prevent one man being viewed as omnipotent. The same is not true for members of Congress or the Supreme court who have to depend on convincing the majority of fellow members to make a decision. Honestly, even when it comes to the Presidency, I am really not completely persuaded about the wisdom of term limits. Unfortunately, it’s pointless to argue about that here because the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution already took care of that issue
Despite this minor disagreement I want to thank you again for all your wonderful work on twitter, commentaries, and those marvelous and thoughtful letters you write to the President. You are really a treasure of wisdom!
Bobfr! You are incredible! What you tweeted is the absolute TRUTH! We need a bumper sticker, t-shirt, or whatever display, with the words you tweeted! Also, check out the article (by some one named Jeff, I think) that desertflower linked to from the blog Addictinginformation, for the comparison of St. Ronnie Reagan’s economic record in his first three years and President Obama’s record in his first three years. Knowing you exceptional abilities, I am sure you will be able compose an effective tweeter message from the info. in the article.
Again, thank you for the wonderful work you are doing on tweeter in spreading the message!
Thank you nath!! I’ll search out the article and read it and see if I can add some value.
All the best!

Thank you Bob! Really spot-on tweet!! This is exactly the information that people are being deprived of by the MSM. Just imagine if the media showed that graph whenever Republicans are on these talk shows yapping, on and on, about the great Ronald Reagan
By the way, Bob, all the credits and thanks should go to the relentless desertflower who is always sharing all kinds of information with us. I generally knew the information highlighted in the article but I was so elated to see an article that used concrete evidence to support what I knew about the economic reality under the Republican Saint, Ronald Reagan. Thank you, again, desertflower, for sharing this info. It’s the kind of information that should be shared widely to counter those who have been disparaging President Obama’s impressive economic achievements.
I had not seen the story either. But it does not surprise me. What does surprise me is that people like Donovan Slack still has a job. Maybe if he was a reporter for Star or some other tabloid. But then again I suppose Politico is the online tabloid rag.
Despite them trying to save face by deleting this, I hope it’s recovery leads to a subsequent viral invasion of the Internet. Lets see them try to recover it then! “Stupid is as stupid does”. ~ Forrest Gumps mama.
Crazy, huh Chips? This story obviously happened when he was in WI….you MAY be the only person that missed it, but I can assure you that it’s just as funny the second time around
Is that was passes for journalism over there?
The important part of this story is: even if that had been a labor flag, what’s wrong with that? Why can’t Americans join a union that helps them get a better deal, better working conditions, etc.? The fact that Politico exposes themselves with such a blatant and stupid attack on unions really tells us a lot. It’s not illegal to join a union, and if that flag had been a union flag then that would have been a non-story, since unions are actually made up of American workers (unlike many corporations that are now running this country).
HAHAHAHAHAHHA!!! The Obama Derangement Syndrome continues! I hadn’t heard this story before, but nothing surprises me at this point. Right now the Repubs are so desperate that they will say anything, jump on any opportunity that they think will make PBO look bad. Now Rick Santorum is just making stuff up about PBO saying he looks down on disabled and encourages abortions for that reason. Crazy, I tell ya!
No kidding!
While doing laundry, I hopped on my one tiny crack habit of World of Warcraft (no, I don’t raid. I just play solo a few hours a week, I don’t have time for anything more….) And there was a bunch of rightwing teanutters yapping in the Trade channel (that everyone can see), mouthing on about the usual insane spew of how PBO is from Kenya/muslim/eats babies…etc…. and I said, “Looks like the Koch brothers are paying Teatnuts to post even here because they’re getting so desperate.”
And they actually shut up.
Truth give them a sad.
bah ha ha ha Tally
Good work. They can never handle the truth. They run from it like daylight to vampires.
Get you teanut fighting badge over there…. —–>>>>
Teatnuts…that’s pretty funny. They are all suckling at the Government Teat and whining about it every day of the week.
You go Tally! Cowardly bullies can’t face being challenged and exposed.
Every day in every way, this level of Santorum craziness is going to do him in. He’s starting to make Willard seem sane now and unless he can manage a tea party only primary, he’s going to find himself in trouble. As usual Ricky doesn’t know when to stop showing his ugly side. His little upsurge in the polls made him think people were clicking with his lunacy, but the more he keeps talking, the harder it’s going to be for the moderately sane to vote for him. Ricky never the learned the maxim that it’s better to keep quiet and let people suspect you might be a crazy paranoid idiot then to open your mouth and prove it.
Someone needs to make a FauxPolitico site that does what Chips was doing before: Politico + Onion = epic – over the top – no way they’re true stories, just to make fun of them.
You’re so right.
And Politfact, sadly, can’t even be counted on to point out lies anymore. They’ve been called by Rachel on several occasions about their bogus Truth-o-Meter ratings.
Whoa! ‘Oh Politicrap’ is right, Chips……. Wonder what happened to the ‘reporter’ who authored that tripe? A mild slap on the risk, a dock in his pay? My guess: neither. Oh, Politicrap.
Here is link to the printed program from Whitney’s service. Beautiful.
http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2012/02/whitney_houston_funeral_read_t.html
I actually received this on Thursdy via email. After viewing the accompanying photos there, I was dismayed to see people selling mementos of Whitney “during” her funeral. I know things are tough out there but they could have waited a little. So tacky.
I am not at all surprised.
If you were in NY immediately after 9/11 attacks you would know that by the time the dust settled you couldn’t find any WTC momentos, no statute, postcard, pen, eraser, nada anywhere around Manhatten. They disappearred off the shelves everywhere. But within a week there were corner merchants all over the place selling precisely that.
There are some enterprising folks out there. They are just focused on the next opportunity and are out the gate in a heartbeat. On the one hand it is understandably crass, but on the other hand they do what they have to to survive.
Interestingly after 911, Whitney’s “Star Spangled Banner” hit single shot to the #1 spot on the Billboards.
…simmetry….
I received one via email yesterday; the one I posted is from today’s service.
@Alycee
Thank you so much for this link! The service was so BEAUTIFUL and so SPIRITUAL. Whitney’s mother, Cissy, is so spiritual, and has such a CLOSE relationship with Jesus. It is a beautiful thing to see.
Thank you Alycee. This one is the program of the Funeral. The one we received the other day was a Program of Whitney’s life. Thank you for sharing the Funeral Program with us. The letter from her mommie is so precious.
Tally, it should be required for every Virginia candidate for state office.
Every once in a while Bill Maher gets it just right
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/02/18/maher-conservatives-behavior-towards-obama-unprecedented/
Saw that last night – good stuff!
Bill Maher contributes to the racism as well with his “I voted for the black guy and got the white one.” WTF That doesn’t even make sense to me but whatever. I’m not going to praise him too much for him speaking the total obvious.
Yup.
2012 seems like a repeat of ’08. Everybody is going to hop back on the Obama bandwagon and then when he wins drop off when we have to start doing actual work.
Exactly. It’s Deja Vu all over again.
I don’t have HBO …but the few time I have watch clips or seen him on other shows…all he does is mock and ridicule people..
I don’t find him funny at all.
I’m with you. Don’t know why anyone listens to or watches him.
I don’t disagree with you about his racist crap, which is the key reason I generally don’t watch him. Our President does endure outrageously blatant disrepect from people who claim to be patriots. That fact doesn’t get called out enough. So when someone… anyone in the public eye uses their voice to call out this stuff, I’m appreciative.
Way to go Politico. Yet again, you come up trumps as winner of the dumbass propaganda machine.
Donovan is a lady Donovan, who was hired to replace “Obama is bad” Julie Mason—–bad streak there. Lady Donovan works with “Obama is bad” Bryan Tau on many/all of “the Obamas are bad” section at Politico, a big section at Politico. It’s funny and ironic that Politico was bragging that she was this great “investigative reporter” when they hired her, especially since it’s quite obvious that there is no investigating going on at all with the Lady Donovan—-who is real busy just snatching false, gossipy Obama items from dark corners and reporting them as if they had merit, as if they were true.
@dotster3:
I wondered what happened to good ole Julie! If this Ms. Slack is her replacement, Politico is more PITIFUL than I thought.
I just went on Ms. Donovan Slack’s bio page on the Politico site, and left her a message telling her what I thought of her “mistake”. I hope others will do the same.
Thanks, Chips and the others, for keeping us informed.
Hiya tnwoman, the hideous Julie Mason left Politico to host her own radio show at Sirius
You can send your tweetin’ love to @DonovanSlack – although she hasn’t been too active recently.
Dotster, I don’t think Politico would know what an investigative reporter was is if one hit them in the face. They are tabloid writers, so to them an “an investigative” reporter is one who gets juicier gossip, no matter how inaccurate. Facts don’t matter.
Politico is just like Fox. Not worth dog doo. Not worth sh*t.

OT: I went to pay my Wells Fargo CC at the bank and I asked the young teller if she would be happy to be off on Monday. To my surprise, they are open on President’s day…she said because they were closed for MLK Day,their management decided to be open on Monday. I told her to consider working for a credit union, my CU is closed on ALL Federal Holidays. Those greedy bastards, just mark my words one day if we do not do something now with these Corporations, all of us will be working holidays, saturdays and sundays….for no extra money. I worked in private industry before I became a state worker and I was required to work long hours, saturdays, sundays and holidays with NO overtime pay during the year end close. I did that for one year and left that company. They lied to me about getting a raise in six months then after I started only to find out they had a wage freeze.
Must be a “flex” day..
I just read the final page (pg. 12) from the program linked above from Whitney’s service. Wow, it was so touching. It was a letter from her mother to Whitney and gripped my heart. Apparently, her mother had certain feelings before she passed and expressed them so openly and candidly. I can’t stop thinking about it.

I’m sure you don’t. If you have questions, I suggest you try a new search engine called “The Google”
If you are sincere, then I apologize, but almost verbatim your post resembles what trolls have posted here in the past.
It never crossed my mind that I would be mistaken for a troll, as I have posted here before, always in complete support of President Obama. I am familiar with “The Google” and I said that I could dig it out myself, but thought this might be quicker. s/b ‘named after Maya Angelou specifically’
didn’t know that–sure wish ms stanley ann was still with us.
I know. She sound like someone with the same community organizing skills she gave her son. Interestingly, she focused on the female population, knowing that by lifting them she was helping to lift everyone in their communities.
With all that she did to empower women, I can’t help but wonder what she would’ve made of the whole BC broohaha
This never stops being funny!
I really enjoy Obama Translated.
GO PINK BUNNY!!!
Yes! Go Pink Bunny!
All mainline Protestants out there, Episcopalians, Methodists, Presbyterians, Congregationalists, Lutherans- Rick Santorum said you are not real Christians and are agents of Satan: (2008) http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2012/02/18/427529/santorum-excommunicates-45-million-christians-mainline-protestants-are-gone-from-the-world-of-christianity/
Bill R, Ricky Santorum is working like a little beaver digging a hole to buy himself.
Hah! Meant “bury” himself.
The first one works if you add “…an election”
People were wondering about Bobby Brown’s exit from Whitney’s memorial today. Don’t know if this is accurate or just a publicity statement but here is what his camp is saying:
http://www.bet.com/news/music/2012/02/18/bobby-brown-why-i-left-whitney-s-funeral.html
I have mixed feelings about this. Who invited him, were they authorized to? Why invite anyone if they are treated like this when they get there?
I don’t care for him and from experience ex’s don’t have a prominent place at their former’s funerals, but he did have the kids in tow and they didn’t deserve that. I think the blame lays at the feet of whoever invited him without making sure it was okay with her family.
Mixed feelings on this to say the least…
Bobby Brown had a formal invitation to the funeral. The funeral was private; by invitation only.
Whitney loved Bobby’s children and they loved her.
Bobby Brown was asked three times to remain at the funeral, he declined because he and his entourage could not sit on the front row. The family had yet to arrive. They could have accommodated him on the third row, however the rest of his party would have been seated in other pews. So he acted like a selfish butt and left.
Emotions run high at funerals and weddings and some times we act irrational. But I am sure at some time in the distance future Bobby will regret his behavior.
LOL!
Oh wow, a republican made a funny.
the wife of the vice prez of china (not sure of the exact title) is a popular singer back home. this npr piece includes a couple of clips of her on stage. not sure that it’s p.c. to laugh, but really, i just can’t help it.

I don’t like these poll results at all. Looks really kooky to me—-Des Moines Register poll has Obama losing to 3 of the 4 Repub contenders, beating only Gingrich. Ron Paul, who has a devoted following there, polls the highest. Hoping this is just a nutsy-cuckoo outlier, but in any case, there is still a lot of work to do. Can’t get complacent anywhere:

Just FYI – Des Moines Register is a right wing rag. They have already endorsed Willard.
They are a strange breed these republicans. So predictable. After 2 wks of favorable polls for PBO all of a sudden a spate of bad polls from a small congress of republican spinmasters. It was to be expected so no surprise and no sweat.
congress= a group of baboons
http://pewresearch.org/politicalquiz/quiz/ I love taking these things:) This one was way too easy…got them all right.
Has Israel moved recently? Or have I been looking at too many Fox News’ maps?
That was Israel! That’s what I said…..”looking at too many Fox news maps”!!! Funny:)
(I thought Israel was teenier than that, so I went for …… no, I won’t say, it’s way too embarrassing)
okay, you don’t have to say…
LunarSea, I can never laugh at Palin’s geographical non-knowledge again. Well, okay, I can.
Chipsticks – hahahahaha – you are too funny!
Beautiful picture of our President

Great…but then, we’re all prejudice. I think ALL of them are great!
Ah, love that.
Mmmmmm….
Why did they truncate the BET honors program? None of the part where FLOTUS gave the award to Maya Angelou. No remarks just a nanosecond of the honorees plus FLOTUS standing on stage at the end.
Maybe you missed it. I saw FLOTUS give her presentation speech then Maya Angelou was assisted onto the stage and next thing you know she was sitting there with FLOTUS standing to the side behind her. (they didn’t actually show Ms Angelou getting onto the stage) It was short but sweet
New post everyone:
http://obamadiary.wordpress.com/2012/02/18/hey-how-about-a-saturday-stroll-down-memory-lane/
meryl1–I almost got kicked off of here for doing the same thing you did–reporting things I read that were nasty digs at our President. I posted it for the same reason–wanting back-up. Apparently some trolls come on here just to repeat nasty stuff and get it circulating out there. I didn’t realize that was going on, that it was a tactic trolls use–but I do know that being called a troll is a pretty damn bad feeling. I get an almost personal hurt when I read offensive misinformation about President Obama, but this isn’t the place to discuss that misinformation. Bringing positive news about the good guys in govt. is the way to go here. Carry on meryl1–everything will be fine.
That’s nice of you, auni, reassuring. I hope I never sound as if I’m a troll, but I love and respect Chips dedication to troll free blogging, as she always says, the Internet is a big place, lots of nasty places to visit for ugly and untrue info.
Hi Auni, I know you and Mary meant no harm at all, but it’s the oldest troll trick in the book on blogs: ‘I don’t believe this myself, but a RW friend of mine told me ** insert anti-PBO smear **….’. That’s why me and others here raise an eyebrow or two when we see this stuff pop up. The facts-armed people here are always happy to help debunk lies, but RW smears are just, well, RW smears. You can provide them with all the facts in the world but they’ll just ignore them and carry on smearing. They’re not worth our energy.
Thank you; I have pretty much been in tears all evening.
Oh Mary, I’m sorry about all this. I absolutely know you meant no harm at all, but as I said to Auni comments similar to yours are the oldest troll trick in the book, something you obviously weren’t aware of at all. We’ve had quite a few trolls recently so many here – including me – are wary. Sorry again Mary, dry those tears, and press on.
Thank you for everything you do to keep this site a great place to be. I didn’t mean to add to your workload.
You didn’t at all Mary, sincere apologies again for prompting all that suspicion, I appreciate everything you’ve contributed here and I really hope you will continue commenting and not let this put you off. Sorry again, thanks Mary.
So now I am in tears again – because you are so nice
Just saw this discussion and my apologies appear to be in order also. But really, that is how every troll we’ve had here has started their comment thread. And yet we realize not everyone who starts a discussion like this is a troll.
We’re like Pavlo’s cats here with that, so please excuse me. It’s how we’ve been conditioned and there’s no way to warn people who are genuinely seeking info.
ChipsChica may have removed the post but she didn’t pull up the welcome mat. I sincerely hope you continue to contribute.
