KHJ is a straight shooter… She was often a guest on the old Bill Moyers Journal, as was Melissa Harris-Perry. Her discussion are always very succinct and to the point, she doesn’t mince words, and has a very clear mind. Bill Moyers has out of his retirement to host a show on Sunday nights, Moyers and Company; he has said in an election year it is critical for information to be presented correctly and without bias. He is attempting to lay out the facts, and as always doing an excellent job of it!
Thanks, WiW for introducing me to Bill Moyers and Kathleen Jamieson. At first I thought you were recommending something by the Maher guy who doesn’t appeal to me, so i hesitated. I’m glad I followed through as it was good to hear the kind of discussion I’d begun to believe didn’t exist in the media. While listening to them I started thinking that it was something like this people here might have been expecting from MHP on her new weekend show. Thanks, again.
Doubt if any of those folk have time to see all the Tweets, etc coming at them but in the flood of all our joint efforts do hope they feel just how broad and intense our support is.
I was looking back to find a link I noticed earlier, referring to a personal note PBO wrote to a Canadian author, complimenting him on a book he had read with one of the girls.. Can’t find the link, or remember the name of book or author. Duh. It’s Sunday. Can anyone point this out to me? Please oh please…..
Oh, theo67, thank you so much, you are fast! It is bound to become a best seller in 2012, if it wasn’t already; another talented and deseving spirit being swept up in the Obama love wave! heading over to Amazon now…..;)
..who was on a mission to try to broaden the prime minister’s personal reading choices. It was kinda ironic that Harper never answered the author, but PBO contacted him
Harper is the equivalent of a far right conservative here in this country. As a former Canadian with many relatives in Canada, they are seriously alarmed as to what he’s up to.
Yes, he’s a conservative whom I find quite supercilious. His government has been revealing its ‘belly’ more and more since he won his ‘majority’. The liberals need to get their act together within the next three years, or the NDP choose a leader who can move the party forward effectively.
.
I just saw the trailer for Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter and I’m still not quite sure what to make of it. It’s a Tim Burton flick, so that gives it some points. Is anybody excited about this one? I wonder if PBO will screen it at the White House. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1611224/
The Damels in Distress trailer intrigues me though. The plot certainly is timely: A trio of girls set out to change the male-dominated environment of the Seven Oaks college campus, and to rescue their fellow students from depression, grunge and low standards of every kind. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1667307/
Not interested in the second movie. But the Tim Burton, Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter one? Heck yes! It’s Tim Burton. Dude is a GENIUS storyteller and I have never been disappointed in any of his movies. Definitely intrigued.
I’m kinda looking forward to Game Change on HBO March 10—-read the book. With Steve Schmidt as a primary source, the docudrama deals with how shocked the McCain campaign was about just how much Sarah P didn’t know—–stuff they assumed everyone of average intelligence knew—-like she thought the Queen ran the British govt., had no clue about the existence of a prime minister. This scary discovery happened when Schmidt was having a chat with her on the campaign bus and asked her how she would respond if UK wanted to pull out of Iraq early——and P said she would just keep the lines of communication open with the queen—–had no clue about a prime minister, never heard of Tony Blair. That P selection still is just mind-boggling.
Thanks I wondered when that would be out. Although I have mixed feelings, about it, because it puts her front and center again, probably fueling her delusion that she should be picked as Repug nominee in the event of a brokered convention. The fact that it’ll present her in a bad light will have no effect on the delusion… neither hers nor that of her supporters.
MHP’s blog mentions a children’s book “Grace for President” by Kelly DiPucchio. The blog says “This is a children’s book you should share with every girl, and every boy, in your life.” So I clicked the link out of curiosity and it takes you to the book’s page on Amazon.com.
Scroll down to the publisher’s book description from 2008 and you’ll see it starts with the quote: “Where are the girls?”
How ironic that here we are in 2012 asking the same question albeit in a different context.
And in the KOMO4 newscast of PBO stopping at the Medina elementary school on Friday, the two little girls interviewed were asked it they would like to become President one day.. One said, “NOOOO, we’re not boys! We can’t be President.” The other one reminded her that girls CAN be President, to which the first little one said, “well, I don’t want to anyway”. ….. It was pretty cute, but quite telling really.
Just watched SNL. The most enjoyable episode since…..oh a very long time. They had a sketch called The Obama Show modeled after the Cosby Show. It was OK. I just wish they could find a better look-alike of the president. Here’s the clip if you’re interested
We’re done with chores and paperwork, getting ready to watch Joe Vs. The Volcano, Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan’s first movie together, very funny, well worth watching if you have never seen it!

Contrary to my usual ability to ignore such garbage and move on, I clicked onto the clip from Face the Nation (WILL NEVER DO THIS AGAIN).
What a pompus and self-righteous jerk!!!! I really wonder WHY any self respecting woman would even consider voting for this virtual-obgyn-specilist!!!
If women do not come out and take a stronger stand against the move to reverse ANY progress in female reproductive health, we will live to regret the inaction and re-establishment of the dark ages
This is a good chance for women to rise up against the decade of attacks. Abortion, womens health care, and now contraception. Is time for all women to speak out.
I also watched his appearance on Face The Nation and I wrote about my experience in the “Rise and Shine” thread. I felt like I was in the Twilight Zone. A very disturbing Twilight Zone. He fundamentally hates women. He hates women having rights, he hates women speaking up for themselves, he hates women working, he hates women in the army, he hates women in leadership positions, etc. That’s pretty much what I got from the interview. He’s a horror against humanity. I couldn’t believe that in 2012, there are still neanderthals like him running around and being embraced by a major political party. Left to him, women would be stripped of ALL our rights and misogyny would be the theme of the day.

A source who saw David Walker’s statement that Alex posted earlier on Ross Perot emailed to say that the former U.S. comptroller general co-hosted a private information session about Americans Elect on Feb. 9 at the home of former Jon Huntsman bundler Lynn Forester de Rothchild.
Also there, according to the source who attended the event, was News Corp. executive and former New York City schools chancellor Joel Klein, publisher Tina Brown and her husband Harry Evans, and former Sotheby’s head Alfred Taubman.
As Alex noted, there’s a level of pot-stirring by Walker here. But it’s also hard to ignore it, given the level of unrest among the electorate right now.
there is a section of the media and the longtime political types who are so desparate to have a close race at of which they are hoping and praying that President Obama looses – that is what the talk of a third party candidate, SOS Clinton, Bloomberg as some of the potential candidates and others is ALL about.
so many political types who to be included in President Obama’s circle cannot believe that he and his family decided long ago not to be corrupted and caught up in the mess and cess-pool in which most of the political-know-it-all reside. these are the people who constantly tell us that contrary to what we can see POTUS “does not connect with regual folks and is very aloof”.
these people will not stop at anything to try and bring down President Obama so we should be ready to meet them head on and fight them every step of the way
Yep. The Wall Street guys, the Big Oil people, the defense contractors and Co don’t want to take any chance. Add to that probably some very powerful people outside the USA.
Barack Obama is the true candidate of the people. And he GENUINELY wants to build a more peaceful world. Moreover, he is VERY popular around the world and has been trying to motivate ordinary people to organize and ask for change. So for the global elite Barack Obama is a very dangerous man.
Is the effort to bring him down a concerted one, or is it simply that many rich and powerful people are working separetely for their own interests? I don’t know. But the force of the opposition is becoming pretty evident.
The fact that is is becomimg pretty evident is what will help. But boy it’s going to be a battle.
P.S? Can someone explain to me why a person like Lady the Rothchield could support Hillary Clinton in 2008 and then support somebody like Huntsman? There is a far greater difference between Huntsman’s policies and Hillary’s than between President Obama’s policies and Hillary’s.
Hillary and Huntsman are both white. That’s a very unfortunate thing that I hate to have to say but it’s the truth. It’s not about policies. It’s about racial politics. Sadly it is.
Listening to NPR and the multimarried family values candidate was flapping his gums about a candidate who cannot win his own homestate. And the reporter was stating that Ga was holding its primary on March 6. Well I wonder what he would say about a candidate failing to qualify for the primary in the state he actually lives in….hmmm. Pot calling kettle.
This is a pretty important video, and it really demonstrates that people love the slogan, but have no idea what the slogan actually means. It’s totally relevant today. Newt justified several thousand federal dollars in coast guard spending, even though Cobb County is landlocked. That’s how ridiculous it is! The GOP love talking about cutting spending, but they never list one single thing they would cut. (to be fair, many Democrats are the same, but they’re not obsessed with cutting spending – they understand the value of investing).
And now I know why POTUS was looking sad on the tarmac on the way back to DC. Mrs O and the girls are skiing in Aspen for the holiday weekend. I say if he can fly to Iraq and Afghanistan unnoticed, he should be able to take a vacation day with his family and let the media know about it later. He lives the press pool all the time. Yeah I know it’s kinda hard to go unnoticed with the motorcade. OK back to your regularly scheduled programing.
Hope he’s finding something fun to do—-saw he played bball with Arne Duncan at the FBI bldg. this a.m. But—the Bulls lost, star Rose is out with an injury, too cold for golfy—–feel kinda sorry for him—-hopefully he can catch up on much needed sleep.
Someone posted this late last night, and when I searched for it on the internet, all I saw were right wing blogs complaining about “shared sacrifice” and how this trip is on the heels of the 17 day Hawaiian vacation – not daring to mention that the First Lady doesn’t get paid a salary, so her time is her own, and the so-called 17 day Hawaiian vacation was during Christmas, and a quarter of the length of Congress’ vacation, who are going on another week long vacation this week.
Can you imagine what they’d be saying if the President was to join them in Aspen? I just hope they have a lovely time, out of the limelight. They have honestly earned their money (unlike many in the GOP), and if they want to vacation anywhere in the world, they have every right to do it. I do wish the President had been able to join them, though.
These people complaining are SICK. A weekend trip is NOT a vacation. Many ordinary folks such as myself take weekend trips out of town on long weekends like Labor Day, President’s Day, etc..And I don’t need to put in vacation time at work because it’s on the WEEKEND!!!!!!!
My opinion is the family time is their own, however if the kids aren’t losing school days what is the problem. They will probably take a long weekend Easter Weekend or that week at Camp David after the Easter Egg Roll that is. And it’s nobody’s business if they do (there’s a song title in there somewhere).
Anyone else shocked to see the headline at politico that the Voting Rights Act is under siege? A bunch of these southern states—Al., Ga., S. C. and Tx—want no fed. laws dictating voting rights in their states—–Al. case going to appeals ct. This is really creepy to me—–and unbelievable. http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0212/73058.html
I sent that to CNN…. this is the third incident with her ….
First she said she would also drop her pants and urinate on dead Afghani’s too
Then she was at CPAC with her husband who did that ” Rap ” and used the N-Word.
Now this.
Am really digging this short video. Really digging the music. That man is gorgeous and does not meet a stranger. Also, the look on that young boy’s face says it all. Yeah Baaby!!!

6. Kathy Griffin (another funny one, who happens to be Catholic)
From the article: “It is a sad fact of drug addiction that many female addicts are ultimately forced by their addiction to trade sex for drugs. According to one Vanderbilt University study, approximately 350,000 babies are born already addicted to drugs each year. Many drug addicts spend all of their available resources on their habit, putting tertiary concerns like birth control out of reach. Providing these women with free birth control could save our health care system money in the long run, and simplify the already complicated lives of a vulnerable class of people.”
The Hill has a piece that says, the probable reason the Republucans lamented in the payroll taxcut deal was to hit the debt ceiling.
They want the 100 billion of not paid got payroll tax deduction, to forward the debt ceiling debate before the election.
And this time the Treasury will not be able to push it back a couple of months, as they payfor for UE insurance was Federal pension hike.
The last time the Treasury used the Pension hike, to push it back a few months.
Can you all imagine, a debt ceiling fight, a week before the election?
Two good things are happening right now:
1. People are waking up to the fact that the GOP is rooting for the economy to fail so they can win their goal of making President Obama a one term president. And a lot of people don’t like that.
2. The economy is improving (and has been improving for over a year), despite GOP efforts. This means more revenue as more people get back to work, stop drawing on unemployment and start paying into taxes.
The other good thing is that if there’s a debt ceiling drama close to the election, then President Obama can simply point to the drama and make his case for ending the Bush tax cuts, since they are the primary cause of the huge deficits. Remember, at the end of the year, the Bush tax cuts and the payroll tax cuts all expire. It will be interesting to see how the GOP argue that we shouldn’t pay the bill, but also argue that we should add to it – at the same time.
I thought there were no more debt ceiling increases until 2013. Any discussion about the debt ceiling in 2012 is political and procedural. PBO was granted the authority to do it on his own 2 times this year. I don’t remember all the details but it was a scheme cooked up by McConnell that allows Repubs to bitch about it without being able to stop it. At least, that’s what I recall.
I thought so too. I thought that the debt ceiling would be raised, but the GOP can vote against it, but it doesn’t have any power, as the president has the right to raise it.

“What Scott Walker is doing with the public unions in Wisconsin is critically important. He’s an impressive guy and he’s very courageous,” Koch says after a benefit dinner of salmon and white wine. “If the unions win the recall, there will be no stopping union power.”
Asked about union comments, Koch’s spokeswoman is quick to moderate them.
“Koch companies support voluntary associations, and where they so choose, we recognize employees’ rights to be represented and bargain collectively,” Nicholas says in emailed remarks.
“We think the best workplace relationships are fostered when the employer works directly with its employees. It is a mischaracterization of our principles to say this means we oppose unions or want to dismantle all unions.”

A group meeting of millionaires?
Listening to NPR and the multimarried family values candidate was flapping his gums about a candidate who cannot win his own homestate. And the reporter was stating that Ga was holding its primary on March 6. Well I wonder what he would say about a candidate failing to qualify for the primary in the state he actually lives in….hmmm. Pot calling kettle.
Newt lost in two straw polls here in Georgia yesterday….
OK I’m trying not to laugh too hard. But seriously…
Back in 1994 before Michael Moore went all emo….he did a short documentary down here about Newt…..it is pretty funny.
Say it ain’t so? You mean to tell me everyone in Georgia doesn’t wanna drink Noot’s bath water? I find that hard to believe.
Yes…he lost to Ron Paul up in Forsyth County ( North Georgia Militia and Oathkeepers territory )
Santorum beat him in Coweta County with 40 %
I was being snarky. I live in Gwinnett County.
Up in Hart County where my son lives…he says he has only seen Romney and Paul signs.
I live in Carroll County (where Newt used to live and work) and I haven’t seen one gingrich sign.
These right wing idiots are just that, dam idiots.
My opinion is the family time is their own, however if the kids aren’t losing school days what is the problem. They will probably take a long weekend Easter Weekend or that week at Camp David after the Easter Egg Roll that is. And it’s nobody’s business if they do (there’s a song title in there somewhere).
Gene Kelly in a black muscle shirt! Bishop Long eat your heart out!

Interesting… I live in Georgia and have NEVER been asked for photo id when I vote….I guess I will see what happens on March 6th
I sure have.
Women really need to unleash some major wrath on this Dana Loesch bitch… seriously.

CNN Contributor Dana Loesch Defends Virginia ‘State-Sponsored Rape’ Bill As No Different Than Consensual Sex
I sent that to CNN…. this is the third incident with her ….
First she said she would also drop her pants and urinate on dead Afghani’s too
Then she was at CPAC with her husband who did that ” Rap ” and used the N-Word.
Now this.
( I sent the other two incidents also )
I think this calls for suspension of this Loesch person more than the reason they gave for suspending Roland Martin.
I know this was covered on an earlier post, but I think it’s worth a repeat…
Alec Baldwin calls Breitbart a ‘festering boil on the anus of public discourse’
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/02/18/alec-baldwin-calls-breitbart-a-festering-boil-on-the-anus-of-public-discourse/
hahah….I love Alec…..
Am really digging this short video. Really digging the music. That man is gorgeous and does not meet a stranger. Also, the look on that young boy’s face says it all. Yeah Baaby!!!

Six people the media should have talked to last week about birth control
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/02/18/six-people-the-media-should-have-talked-to-last-week-about-birth-control/
1. Dr. Regina Benjamin (Surgeon General of the U.S. – HELLLL-OOOOO! )
2. Working moms
3. Sarah Palin (just cuz the word salad would be entertaining)
4. A junkie
5. Loretta Lynn (song: The Pill)
6. Kathy Griffin (another funny one, who happens to be Catholic)
Why the junkie?
From the article: “It is a sad fact of drug addiction that many female addicts are ultimately forced by their addiction to trade sex for drugs. According to one Vanderbilt University study, approximately 350,000 babies are born already addicted to drugs each year. Many drug addicts spend all of their available resources on their habit, putting tertiary concerns like birth control out of reach. Providing these women with free birth control could save our health care system money in the long run, and simplify the already complicated lives of a vulnerable class of people.”
Thanks for explaining – I guess I should have read the article…

The Hill has a piece that says, the probable reason the Republucans lamented in the payroll taxcut deal was to hit the debt ceiling.
They want the 100 billion of not paid got payroll tax deduction, to forward the debt ceiling debate before the election.
And this time the Treasury will not be able to push it back a couple of months, as they payfor for UE insurance was Federal pension hike.
The last time the Treasury used the Pension hike, to push it back a few months.
Can you all imagine, a debt ceiling fight, a week before the election?
Tricky bastards!
I know for a fact they are going to try to shut down government in October. And it’s going to be over something really stupid.
Right. It’s their playbook. I hope the WH is prepared!
You can count on an “October surprise”
How would that do anything positive for them ? It would just prove Americans that Republicans cannot deal with reality in Government.
It is a losing strategy….
Gallup has unemployment spiking up to 9.0% again. Why why why??
http://www.gallup.com/poll/152753/Unemployment-Increases-Mid-February.aspx?ref=image
Because they manipulate their data….
Also… Gallup uses different methodology than BLS.
A week of Contraceptives and the Sunday shows pullout one woman.
Just one.
Do you know who they went to?
Wait for it…
Bachman!
To talk about womans issues, the MSM picked Bachman.
Really? Surely, they can do better than that freak!
I’m so glad I don’t watch that crap.
Where were the Senators like Sen. Boxer or Sen. Murray?
Lying evil punks, one and all!
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/02/19/westboro-baptists-caught-lying-about-appearance-at-whitney-houston-funeral/
So the two GOP frontrunners are “man-on–dog” and “dog-on-roof”. Amazing.

It’s on the DVR….important stuff.
Wasn’t gonna pot today but watching this is heart wrenching.
Yep, I have friend who was just laid off two weeks. She’s so scared she’s almost inconsolable.
My heart goes out to her. I know this feeling. Very well. We are there right now.I’m ready to crawl out of my skin. I hope that she finds something very soon.
Thanks df. They gave her a couple of months severance. We’ve been feverishly running down leads. If she doesn’t get anything in a month, I’m going to have a housemate.
You’re a good friend:) She needs you now…more than ever.
Aww, thanks df. I feel a little powerless right now, so I just do what I can.
I mean post. Sorry.
Thank you yardarm. That’s a relief.
I don’t know why. Sometimes I feel like I could use some after exposure to this rwnj b.s. Help me Jesus!
Iran halts oil sales to UK and France. It’s almost like they are working with the Republicans!
And in Syria the Rebels just assassinated a State Prosecutor and a Judge.
Actually, the UK and France were scheduled to begin their embargo of Iranian oil in the summer, so it’s not as impactful as this might seem. Iran is just getting ahead of the sanction.
Minimal impact. UK and France will get it from other countries. Iran will send this oil to China and India. Won’t have any relt effect on anything.
Hi Toders!!!
Hope everyone is doing okay.
Getting ready for the Carnival celebrations here in Trinidad.

That video in Newport Beach is one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen! Love that!
David Koch-
Hmmmm!
Love the site. Been a lurker for awhile. Hope to be able to join in the conversation.

Just viewed on Bill Moyers: Grover Norquist says that he wants to fill the Senate and House with the real leaders so that the only thing the President has to do is sign the legislation. (paraphrasing). All ideas and policies will come from those bodies.
May he run through hell with gasolene underware.
…and 20 hungry Crackens chasing him.
This is cool:
