That ratfucker doesn’t seem to realize that the Cadillac gaffe doesn’t endear him to voters. When your wife is advocating that you should keep silent and might try more of that tactic in future debates and events; you have a problem.
And the crazy witch Jan Bruwer the Gog of AZ endorsed Mitt, so Mitt if you think you will
get any Latino Votes you are fuck big time Every Latino hates this bitch.
You see, nintendow, Willard is having a great day. With Brewer’s endorsement he sews up the wicked witch vote. Now no one else can claim this critical constituency. From now on Willard has to “model” this constituency in all his comments. WinWin for the wicked witches. Lose/lose for Willard.
I think the reason Brewer endorsed Romney has to do with his ties to Kris Kobach and his saying in the last debate that if he wins in November, he’ll use Arizona’s immigration law as a “national” model. IMHO, there’s no way he will be able to walk this back during the General Election. The GOP already has a problem with winning the votes of Hispanics, and this will make it worse. Maybe the polls showing this don’t mean anything to Romney.
What is wrong with this guy? Let me count the ways. 1. He lies. 2. He is a flip-flopper. 3. He is so obsessed with our Beloved President that he copies him in such obtuse ways. 4. He is out of touch and grasping at straws. 5. He is not too bright. 6. He is confused. 7. Deep down he knows that he is going to lose. I’ll come up with more later.
8. He knows that Obama care is national Romney care. 9.He does not know how to connect with the public. 10. He acts like a school child in debates saying such things as “you had your turn to talk now it’s my turn”. 11. He isn’t mentally stable because he believes whatever he is saying at the moment. 12. His trying to buy the nomination is backfiring on him.
Thank you PamfromCalif. Seems like not only Romney, but Santorum and Gingrich definitely fit the definition especially number 6 from the urban dictionary.
Mitt also said today that if voters can not “connect” with him then they should “vote for the other guy.” He is become erratic like John
McCain did. He thinks people are begrudging him because he is “successful.” He just doesn’t get it. When a guy brags about driving a Mustang and a Truck, and then says his wife drives “a couple of “Cadillacs” to try to connect to Michigan voters, he has a problem. People can’t afford 4 cars with the price of gas, and he is bragging about it. He made it worse today on Fox by proclaiming that he has a “car in CA at one of my houses,” and “a car in Boston at another one of my houses.” Damn Mitt opens mouth and inserts foot each time. Mitt has so many faces that he can’t even be called two faced.
Spot on, Tori. President Obama is successful also but he doesn’t come across as an idiot about it. He doesn’t brag about what he has. He just IS. Also Romney is very materialistic and insecure about it. All he knows is what he has and what his family has. He cannot relate to character because he has none. However, Our Beloved President DOES have great character and he is just plain real. People pick up on things like that.
Pie is sacred. Thou shalt not ever say anything bad about pies. Some pies are way better than other pies but there is no such thing as bad pies. Pies are the perfect food. OKAY….carried away again…
How if I just say Repugnants suck and go have a piece of my own great home made lemon pie?
When these stupid ass GOP candidates makes these claims, why don’t the media ask them to prove any corruption of Obama? Prove corruption by Obama. It will be easy to prove that Mitt Romney is a bold face liar.
Uh, no thanks desertflower – I will re-gift this gift to someone else and keep the POTUS pic that Chipsticks has given me – thank you very much!!! LOL!!!!!
There was like a change in the air when your Governor came on that is for sure, ummm I would liken it to intelligence
and it all belong to Governor O’ Malley. I have to thank Chipsticks for this site,
because I save myself a lot of time just coming here instead watching half those so call
news show. I continue to be puzzle by the American media, that supports a guy; who talks about “the tree
are the right height” Lol he makes Bush look like a genius.
Too many of these MSM’s have spent a half of a lifetime in the Beltway Bubble. Sounds like Schieffer is conflating “bullying” with “honesty”. THIS from a person who is supposed to be neutral. It JUST DOESN’T MATTER: I can’t stand the sight of, say Howard Fineman, because he’s been on the D.C. wienie circuit so long that all he spews is pablum.
Thank you so much donna dem 4 Obama for sharing this clip of your wonderful Governor. My niece and her daughter moved from California to Maryland 6 years ago. They not only love the state, but they also love Gov. O’Malley! Now I know why. He is such an intelligent, well spoken and no nonsense person. In my opinion, OFA should tap Gov. O’Malley, to be the one of the President’s chief spokesperson, to carry the President’s message across the country. His calm and self confident demeanor, plus his command of the facts on major issues, are tremendous assets to the President and the Democratic party.
BEIJING — Chinese are flooding a Web page of President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign on Google Inc.’s social networking service with comments, after China seemingly lifted long-standing blocks.
What some are calling “Occupy Obama” began early last week when Chinese Internet surfers noticed that Google’s Plus service was widely accessible, after months of being hard to access or blocked completely. The comments on the Obama campaign’s verified account are mostly in Chinese and reached a torrent in the last few days, drawing puzzlement and complaints from some American users.
Quick note: The surfers in this article use the word “occupy” very literally, and it does not carry the same protest connotation as “Occupy” in OWS, etc
How many are real comments, as opposed to spam? I’ve gotten a ton of responses in Chinese and/or Japanese on my blog over the last few years, but the few I’ve translated all sound like spambot ads (though who knows if faulty translation programs were partly to blame).
Oops! Left behind again on the last thread! Got to sharpen my aging reflexes.
By the way, has anyone else lost that lovely little button that I was getting accustomed to at the top of the thread? The one that tells you when someone responds to your comment? Mine seems to have disappeared as quietly as it appeared. What’s up?
Reply
heh, no – in fact this is the first time I’m seeing that button I looked for it before when you all talked about it, but didn’t have it.. until today, and wow, love that it lets you know that you’ve got replies to your comments, how much easier & convenient is that..!
Maybe we only get ‘turns’ at it? Initially I didn’t have it while others were bragging, then I had it for days (and tried not to brag ), but since last night I noticed it was missing. It was certainly a good tool to have and I sure hope my turn comes around again sometime soon.
Are you trying to get me to admit my ignorance before the ‘world’, Ison? I normally just turn on my laptop and click on the browser. Being a big believer in ‘if technology is working, walk softly so as not to disturb it’, I never change/touch anything else. So I would like to know WHO took me out of WordPress, because now I have to figure out how I stumbled my way in there last time. Don’t tell anyone, but I really HATE technology and it hates me right back – it never performs smoothly for me for very long. And yes, I am familiar with the adage ‘A bad workman always blames his tools’ but I’m not male so it doesn’t apply.
Did you know that the Koch Bros had their earliest beginnings from Joseph Stalin?
In the late 1920s there was at least one country in the world where oil was not bought and sold, in the usual sense–the Soviet Union. The Soviets had been trying to take advantage of their immense oil reserves since gaining power in 1917, and under Joseph Stalin the drive to industrial efficiency was pursued with ruthless speed but without the benefit of Western technology. Fred Koch offered to build oil refineries in the Soviet Union that would be more efficient than those in the West. The young engineer’s ideas were welcomed, and he was awarded a large contract to coincide with Stalin’s first five-year plan, beginning in 1929.
Think those TPer’s know this? I think they SHOULD!!!
Saw that sales of existing homes was up last month. Have personal anecdotal proof. Indy daughter sold her condo this week which had been for sale since last summer. And we’re visiting family in Florida, sister in real estate biz, sales are hopping again, sold 2 this week within 24 hours of listing.
Today is Tim’s 54th birthday, and we’ve been working on a special card for him. I hope you’ll take a moment to send him a birthday wish.
With the negative ads already running on television, this campaign can be draining. But nothing keeps Tim going more than hearing from supporters and constituents — and I know he’ll enjoy reading your well-wishes.
O’Malley gets in zingers on ‘Face the Nation’
Governor defends Obama’s handling of the economy
Gov. Martin O’Malley mounted an aggressive defense of President Barack Obama’s handling of the economy Sunday morning, pointing to 23 consecutive months of job creation and dismissing Republican attempts to blame the administration for the rising price of gasoline. Appearing on CBS’ “Face the Nation” with Bob Schieffer, O’Malley got in zingers at GOP candidates Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum, as well as at New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who also appeared on the show.
Remarkably, neither O’Malley nor Christie was asked about the issue of same-sex marriage — a national debate in which both men have recently played prominent roles. Last week, O’Malley helped steer legislation legalizing same-sex marriage to passage in the General Assembly. The previous week, Christie vetoed a similar measure.
Forget the lobsters, Pamela, are the trees the right height? That’s very important. You can’t love them if they’re not the right height, not even if they have lobsters in them!
Hey Pamela, I found the WordPress button (my other self mutters ‘Like it was lost. Really’ ), signed in there, and it doesn’t seem to have changed my user name yet. It might be safe for you to try.
And – ta da!- the little magic box has now returned! Woot! My techie skills are improving….gradually. By the time I have it all mastered, laptops will be obsolete, if they aren’t already.
I used the little blue WordPress circle to sign in and it did not affect my name. Thought you might like to know this. Now I can see when someone responds – if I happen to be paying attention.
Happy Birthday GGail. May your day be a lovely elegant one for such a special day in your life. May all of the joy, love, laughter, and beautiful fun fill your day. Enoy it, GGail!!!!!! (((((((((((((Happy Birthday GGail)))))))))))))))) Love you,HZ
HZ, I finished the book I started last night, title Glimpses of Eternity by Raymond Moody, MD, with Paul Perry. Published in 2010, by Guideposts publishing, I thoroughly enjoyed the reports of in depth studies on the topic of ‘shared death’ experiences. Many people report being witness to views of a vast reality of (heaven) (Light) (a peaceful place beyond this world), and how the experience has changed their lives immensely. I know how you live your life to the fullest spiritual level, and thought of you often while reading, and again as I closed the book a few minutes ago. I recommend this volume to anyone here on TOD with an interest in the metaphysical.
Pamela, thanks so much for this information. I am so grateful that you thought of me. I will try to purchase the book immediately. It sounds very interesting indeed. Looking forward to reading it, and I will share my thoughts when I finish reading it. (((((Hugs))))HZ
I hope the word travels far and wide among restaurant workers so that this guy gest little secret and undetected prizes in his food. The fool doesn’t realize what power waiters/waitresses wield over his food. The waiters/waiters of this world work ten times harder and longer than this arrogant twit would ever think to do. Karma is making a beeline for this guy.
Back in the day I use to wait/bus tables in a 5 star restaurant and when a stingy dude came in the whole staff would “christian” his entree’ before it was served. It will be up to y’all to figure out how we “blessed” his food. Of course the chef added a bit of butter and au jus to cover it up. We’d all stand around and smile as he ate and smacked his lips. Most gratifying.
psst! psst! **whisper. whisper** Guys, TODville is getting real close to the 8 mill hits. Maybe we could surprise Chips Chica, by kick starting the fundraising $8 donations now and leading up to when we hit the mark? As opposed to waiting until we hit the number? It seems like a good time as we are also close to the end of the month /** softer whisper/ and CC is not here.
(shhh… Great idea, vcpof, I started a few days ago, as her thermometer was kinda stuck for a while tho she has never lost momentum…also think she forgets about that page, so we could all sneak in there and blow the top off the needle!)
“Romney says that, on the first day in office he would take ten actions to turn around the economy, including sending a package of five bills to Congress and asking for action within 30 days.”
Romney called that package of bills the “Day One, Job One Initiative”, clearly highlighting their importance, in his view. It included:
Reducing the corporate income tax from 35 per cent to 25 per cent, which he claimed would induce short-term job growth through incentive hiring;
Passing the “stalled” Colombia, Panama and South Korea Free Trade agreements;
Calling for a survey of US energy reserves that could in turn promote domestic production of energy and create jobs;
Making states responsible for retraining programs; and
Submitting a bill to cut non-security discretionary spending by five per cent
/snip/
Romney also promised to issue five executive orders to:
Repeal “Obamacare”;
Eliminate or repeal any Obama-era regulations that “have a negative effect on job creation and economic growth”;
Develop a streamlined process to create new oil and gas drilling;
Sanction China for currency manipulation; and
Reverse pro-union orders issued by the Obama administration
/snip/
Santorum’s target list for funding cuts includes the following proposals:
“Eliminate all agriculture and energy subsidies within four years, letting the markets work; eliminate resources for job killing radical regulatory approaches at the EPA and refocus its mission on safe and clean water and air and commonsense conservation; eliminate funding for Planned Parenthood and support adoption; reduce funding for the National Labour Relations Board (NLRB) for extreme positions undermining economic freedom; eliminate funding for implementation of Obamacare, and eliminate funding for United Nations organisations that undermine America’s interests.”
Santorum also promised to “reform Social Security and Medicare for sustainable retirements” – standard GOP boilerplate that’s virtually identical to Mitt Romney. But while Romney shied away from embracing Ryan’s draconian plan to destroy Medicare, starting in 2022, Santorum displays openly hostility that strongly suggests he’d like to begin dismantling Medicare immediately. “The Medicare system is simply like Romneycare in Massachusetts,” Santorum said on one occasion, “It is incredibly inefficient.” (In fact, as economist Paul Krugman notes, Medicare’s administrative costs of two per cent are far below private plans. Medicare Advantage plans average 11 per cent costs, and when profit-taking is added, this rises to 16 per cent the amount not going to actual medical care.)
“We should not have a government-run health care system on Medicare or anything else,” Santorum said on another occasion. He even once claimed that Medicare was “crushing” the “entire health care system in this country”. Santorum has yet to explain how doing away with Medicare is supposed to create jobs. The obvious answer – more money spent on advertising, administration and claims agents denying people coverage – is not exactly encouraging, since it also implies a reduction in actual medical care, and the jobs that go along with that.
Other points from Santorum’s plan include:
You’ll have to read the rest! It’s equally as ugly.
all those liberals who are getting lazy about the vote or are not paying attention to the damage the gop has already caused need to stop and consider how much more damage these gop hatemongers will do if we do not vote ALL of them out of office
That’s why “Mrs Romney” doesn’t want any more debates – so no one can say, “Hey Mitt, Obama wants 25% tax for Corps, and already passed the trade agreement you’re talking about. Looks like you AGREE WITH PRESIDENT OBAMA AND ARE JUST THE SAME ON SOME STUFF.”
Tally, your comment reminded me of this editorial in The New York Times back in January. The GOP debates have taken a toll on the clown car candidates. It’s not surprising that there have been so many calls to just stop them. But sadly for the GOP, they can’t unring the bell. The debates have confirmed what we already knew. The entire lot of GOP presidential candidates is unhinged, deranged, radical and extreme.
Don’t Stop the Debates (1/30/12)
By NYT Editorial Board
Most of all, the debates have shown the complete lack of interest by all the Republican candidates in the issues of economic fairness. While the candidates argue over their investments and their complex tax returns and who can cut taxes for the rich the most, the contrast to Mr. Obama’s newfound voice on shared responsibility could not be more clear.
The long series of debates are an open window onto the failed policies and dubious values of the Republican Party. No wonder some people want to close it.
But. But is the fucking MSM going to call MItt on his B.S Colombia, Panama, Soutj Korea
Trade agreement ,Yes Linda this was done by PBO October 1, 2011 we can send MItt
the tape of the signing.
Df, among all the other far right idiocies in these two lists, I would to know where the president of the US has the authority to “repeal” already passed legislation on his own recognizance. As in everything else he says he is just blowing smoke.
Can’t. Like he would repeal “Obamacare”? What a freaking loser…but people believe that he can, because they have no idea how govt works. Sorry state of affairs.
Romney’s energy policies make him the candidate for the Koch brothers
The Big Oil billionaire Koch brothers are spending millions to pursue their agenda. They and their allies have pledged to contribute $200 million to third–party groups to help defeat President Obama this year. And now they’re providing their longtime ally, Mitt Romney, with a major platform to drum up support.
Today, Romney spoke at the Michigan Prosperity Forum, a Koch-sponsored event with an audience chock full of the Koch brothers’ personal friends and fans. And as Americans for Prosperity’s Michigan state director said, “Because this event takes place just three days before Michigan’s primary election, this is a perfect time to ensure our issues have a prominent place within the national dialogue in this year’s elections.”
Check out the Article below about the Koch brothers involvement in manipulating gas prices..see a portion of the article below
“One of those players is the petrochemical multinational Koch Industries. Although oil extraction is a small part of the Koch’s oil business the company has major control over every other part of the market as its core venture is shipping crude oil, refining it, distributing it to retailers, then speculating on the future price. The company actively trades about 50 types of crude oil around the world and has trading operations in London, Geneva, Singapore, Houston, New York, Wichita, Rotterdam, and Mumbai”.
i like the fact that the new born is being blessed or annointed right there in crib and that the other animals promptly start bowing to the baby. I wonder how the right wingers did not complain loudly about this annointing and bowing once POTUS used this video as his birth video
PBO deliberately defused them from doing that by saying plainly “It’s a joke”, and mentioning Fux as the station to most likely think it was real, then referring them to Disney! Classic, I had not seen this footage until now! He’s so awesome!!
‘………..
Yet, speaking at the HIMSS12 Conference in Las Vegas, Aetna CEO, Chairman and President Mark Bertolini, said a reckoning for the traditional health insurance model was at hand. “The system doesn’t work, it’s broke today” Bertolini told attendees. “The end of insurance companies, the way we’ve run the business in the past, is here.”
Bertolini said an amalgamation of regulatory, demographic and economic factors were driving this change. The Affordable Care Act in particular, with its ban on medical underwriting, has made the traditional health insurance business model untenable in the long term, he said. Nonetheless, he offered measured praise for the law, even citing the controversial medical loss ratio rules as having a smoothing effect on premium swings.

If Romney had his way and Detroit had gone bankrupt, it would have been all foreign cars racing in Daytona today. http://t.co/zlHplKV8— The Democrats (@TheDemocrats) February 26, 2012
the gop campaign has clearly exposed that the former missionary and now front runner candidate is a routine liar! why in the world did the good people of MA not give us a heads up about how much and how effortlessly their former governor lies???
They really did, but noone paid attention. His approval rating was SO low in 2005-2006, he knew not to run again….he would be slaughtered by whoever ran. We were in MA in 2006, and there were billboards telling him to leave! The basic attitude was “Don’t let the door hit you on the way out!” If and when the general election starts, we’ll hear MUCH from MA if he is the candidate. They won’t waste their energy in the primaries. And, of course by the general, everyone will know him.
apparently not. according to this, he doesn’t care, anyway. just take me or leave me–i’m rich, i’m a wanker, and i think that means i should get to be president if i want.
O/T You know I’m grinning from ear to ear right now.
Thank you so much for going to see GOOD DEEDS this weekend….
The #2 movie is worth so much celebration, especially if you knew the behind-the-scenes drama I’ve been dealing with. But that’s another story and I refuse to dwell on the negative.
So, on behalf of me and all of us at Tyler Perry Studios, we just want to say thank you for going out to the movies and keeping our voice strong.
Hey defytheodds – I received my email from Tyler Perry today too! I saw the movie on Friday and left him a message on his Message Board that me & my girlfriends really enjoyed the movie. I’m happy to see that it did very well at the Box Office.
Lol, I live in Canada and Harper has a hard time selling that crap here.
President Obama is way more popular in Canada then he is, and most Canadians know we get our oil imported. So
this only benefits the West, because they want to sell the oil, and Harper is their front man because they keep funding
his party and responsible for him being in office.
President Obama is right, that the American people are smart (ummm, look at the crowds that keeps coming out for him—in spite of the negative media coverage— no body is buying their lies no matter how much they repeat it) and the Republicans like the MSM love to grab onto bad news lick their lips as people suffer. MSM are bunch of enablers, and they won’t even be a footnote when this amazing President history is being told.
I had been hanging back, not commenting as much on the blogs, particularly about politics and the GOP craziness, but all of this BS about birth control and other social/religious issues is, in my estimation, not about true political ideology. It’s not about “crazy” candidates and their fundamentalism. To an extent, it isn’t even about women. It is about having the last word and clinging to the to most basic definition of “conservatism,” i.e. the conservation of power into the hands of the very few. And their plan is to distract and upset the public to the point where they either lose interest in the voting process or they remain ignorant of the fact that their rights, voting and otherwise, are being pulled out from under them right now. IMO, this is a “chaos” strategy, helped by the MSM, with the goal being to reset on any progress that has been made that would lead Americans to fully participate as citizens in this democracy. As more good news rolls in and the GOP candidates continue to flop, look out for more drummed up distractions and deflections. This week, it’s gas prices and pretending that its the president’s fault; next month, if prices head back down, it will be something new.
On a different topic, I saw this clip of Rep Allen West singing, and couldn’t help but laugh. Not that the the singing is the worst ever, but because it’s so awkward in its set up, so desperately attempting to one-up PBO. (Somewhere, righties are smiling, saying, “see, *our* blacks are hip too!” -hip for the over 70 crowd, I guess). Check out West’s faux embarrassment at the beginning: Oh, gee, I hope no one’s taping this and it goes viral. I’d just hate for that to happen /WINK WINK
Happy birthday GGail.Yep, a great month for birthdays, especially with all the ‘pleasurable Pisceans’. Mine is coming up on Tuesday 28th ..and it is a milestone, so I am running around trying to get it organised.
He really is nuts; now he is saying that the separation of church and state makes him sick…. Is there anything else he’d like to attack? I thought attacking higher education was bad enough, but he pretty much summed it up with this one… NUTS!
Director of AZ Dems Issues Statement On Brewer’s Romney Endorsement
Executive Director of the Arizona Democratic Party Luis Heredia issued a statement on Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer’s endorsement of Mitt Romney. He pushed the idea that Romney, whom Brewer said she would try to help win the nomination, has aligned himself with the far right of the Republican Party, and that Brewer is the latest such politician. He concludes:
“Regardless of the outcome in Arizona on Tuesday, Mitt Romney has decided to move to the extreme right of his party to garner support from politicians like Brewer and Kris Kobach. He will be the most extreme presidential Republican nominee in recent history.”

Tyler Perry was born Emmitt Perry, Jr.

At 5:00 . I was hoping to go get a peek…but that time of day going from Northeast Atlanta all the way down to Southwest Atlanta could take hours…on a Friday afternoon.
thanks for this info about the Tyler Perry fundraiser!!!! He is always stepping up to do what needs to be done. I am sure that President Obama will have great fun at this event.
right wingers watch out – for three years you have been insulting President Obama in any way possible. well mow his supporters are stepping up to make sure that you all go even more nutty WHEN POTUS is re-elected.
I am looking foward to all these heads exploding from hate as we count PBO’s electoral votes
I hear Santorum is watching the Oscars red carpet and thinking….”I’d like to transvaginally probe her, her, her, him, him, him, her, him, her and getting all pre-frothy.
Okay, I’m starting to believe my family when they say I am way too politically-obsessed. I was just reading the Comcast description of tonight’s 60 Minutes episode, which starts off “Steve Kroft takes a look at the extreme sport of wingsuite flying…” Well, I saw “wingNUT” instead of “wingsuit” and wondered, what the hell is wingnut flying?” LOL!
Congratulations to Australian PM Gillard for her being re-elected in a landslide win! I’m sure our President must have called her already!
Australia PM Gillard survives Labor Party leadership challenge with 73-29 win over challenger Rudd – @smh bit.ly/w9Ol5B— Breaking News (@BreakingNews) February 26, 2012
Good for her! I heard about the challenge on the news Friday and the promise they both made that whoever won the other would not challenge him/her again. Now she can focus her energies on governing.
Yes, it was the opposition leader of the other party that gave that idiotic speech…he’s one of the Howard group that was close to Bush. Anyway, at least this is sorted and they can move on.
Anyone watching the Oscars? I’m definitely rooting for “The Artist” to sweep. I love that film. Also rooting for Octavia Spencer, Jean Dujardin, Christopher Plummer, and Rooney Mara in the acting categories.
Thorning-Schmidt and Obama trade praise, avoid criticism
“In what was arguably her biggest moment on the international stage to date, Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt held a 40-minute meeting with US President Barack Obama at the White House late Friday night Danish time.
The two leaders discussed a variety of topics during their meeting, including the European debt crisis, the situation in Syria, an upcoming NATO meeting in May, and even the terrifying topic of teenage daughters.
Recycling the same praise he bestowed upon Denmark less than a year ago when meeting with former PM Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Obama said that Denmark has “punched above their weight” when it comes to the country’s contributions in Afghanistan and Libya. He also extended his compliments to Thorning-Schmidt directly, saying the US has been “very impressed with the first five months of her prime ministership”.
Unsurprisingly, economic matters made up a significant part of the conversation.
“Like folks here in the United States, everybody in Denmark wants to talk about the economy all the time, and jobs and growth,” Obama said after the meeting. “And we agreed that there has been some progress in resolving the sovereign debt issues, that there has been some progress with respect to the agreements between the EU and the IMF and Greece, the new government in Italy, new governments in Spain and Portugal are all making significant progress, but that there’s a lot more work to do. And we will be consulting closely with Denmark.”
Thorning-Schmidt thanked Obama for “the friendship and the alliance between our two countries” but also stressed that “a closer transatlantic relationship will be important” as Europe continues to work its way through its debt crisis. She also specifically thanked the US for the recent operation that rescued a Danish hostage in Somalia.
Thorning-Schmidt committed to attending a NATO summit to be held in Chicago in May, and invited Obama to visit Denmark.
Not everything was business during the meeting, however. The two leaders found common ground as parents.
“The final thing we talked about was the fact that we both have two daughters; they’re roughly the same ages,” Obama said. “We traded notes. The prime minister’s daughters are slightly older than Malia and Sasha. She assures me that they continue to behave themselves, even well into their teenage years. So I’m encouraged by the report.”
Danish media covering the event praised Thorning-Schmidt’s performance…”
In another failed attempt to relate to regular people, Mitt Romney brags about having friends who own Nascar teams at the Daytona 500. When will this moron learn to STFU? On the other hand……keep talking Willard.

Former Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-R.I.) has asked Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) to pull a radio ad off the air that invokes the name of his late father, former Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.). But Brown’s campaign says he won’t oblige.
The tiff developing between Brown and the Kennedy family was set off by Brown’s support for legislation to allow employers to refuse to cover health care services for their employees that they find morally or religiously objectionable. The issue has become a major point of contention between Brown and Elizabeth Warren, the Democratic front-runner in the race to unseat Brown.
Attempting to couch his support for the exemption in the legacy of Edward Kennedy, the extremely popular former senator and Catholic whose seat Brown now holds, Brown released a radio ad last week invoking his name.
I’m not gonna really watch the actual telecast. I usually DVR these things then read liveblogs of the events and go back to the telecast later.
I do watch the red carpet though, and first of all I just gotta say Colin Firth….hmmmm!
Also, shout out to Viola Davis who looked beautiful on the carpet rockin’ a Natural ‘Do. As an African American female who wears her hair natural, it was all the rage with all my friends.
Well I have arrived in Minnesota, unpacked, setup my laptop, logged in the free wireless and ready to watch The Oscars. I think I will be order a pizza, wish I could order beer, scotch or brandy. I know many here will be watching The Oscars and our resident Hollywood Star “TALLY” has given her picks..Good Luck. I think this will be the most watch Oscars in a long time with the return of Billy Crystal and so many good movies, excellent actors and actresses.
WASHINGTON–Education Secretary Arne Duncan and Grammy winner John Legend headline a March 20 major donor Obama re-election fund-raiser in Chicago.
The fund-raiser–on Illinois primary day– features what is billed as a “private perfomance” by Legend with a discussion afterwards led by former Obama White House domestic policy chief Melody Barnes.
The admission is a $5,000 per person contribution with the host tab $25,000, either raised or donated.
The event is at the Near North Side home of Michael Sacks and his wife, Cari. He is CEO of Grosvenor Capital Management L.P.; Vice-Chairman of World Business Chicago and a member of the board of the company that owns the Chicago Sun-Times.
Yes, thank you, I did. Still a little intimidated, though, for the same reason. Guess I could undo, or unsubscribe…. Haven’t given up yet, as the little magic box would surely simplify the demands on my time.
President Obama praised a bipartisan delegation of governors on Sunday, saying they have one of the toughest jobs in the country.
“I’ve always said that governors have one of the best but also one of the toughest jobs around. On the one hand you guys are in charge, which means that folks know where you live and they know how to find you if something doesn’t work,” Obama said at a dinner honoring the governors. “But you’re also in a position to make real and lasting change every single day. You’re where the rubber hits the road.”
The governors are in Washington for the annual winter meeting of the National Governors Association.
Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman (R), chair of the NGA, offered a toast thanking the Obama family for their service to the country.
“America is the land of opportunity and each of us are grateful for the opportunity to lead our states and I can say personally, as a young man growing up in Wahoo, Nebraska, I never dreamed that I’d be here in the White House tonight,” Heineman said.
Tonight’s White House Governors’ Dinner is…”the first of a trio of high-profile dinners the President and Mrs. Obama will host over the next month: On Feb. 29, the President and Mrs. Obama will welcome about 200 guests for the formal “A Nation’s Gratitude Dinner,” which will honor veterans of the Iraq war. On March 13, they will welcome Prime Minister David Cameron and his wife Mrs. Samantha Cameron for a State Dinner, the sixth of the Administration.”
President Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama announced …–the 2012 White House Easter Egg Roll will be held on the Monday after Easter. The thousands of guests from across the US who will fill the South Lawn on April 9th will be treated to live musical performances, sports courts, cooking stations, storytelling and, of course, the traditional Easter egg rolling. The event, as it was in 2010 and 2011, will be pegged to the First Lady’s Let’s Move! campaign, and the activities will encourage children “to lead healthy and active lives,” the White House said. The annual eggstravaganza has been a tradition since 1878. Last year’s Roll was the largest in White House history, with about 30,000 guests…
You know…I was thinking. It’s not really fair that all of us women go on and on…and get relegated to the naughty mats ALL THE TIME! If you guys think that you see a nip, then I guess we ought to let you be. I married a sailor. I happen to know that you hone in like a laser….I didn’t see that, but then again, I was looking….unlike SOME of you!
When Tim Gunn was interviewing her outside, they pulled up the camera to focus more on her face. I thought that was conspicuous. Then later when she was presenting, I was surprised no one had her adjust the dress before she went onstage.
Oh boy! NOW I can’t wait. Maybe we should have 2 parties, one now as a dry run so that we can work out any possible kinks, and another on the real day.
(Don’t mind my alter ego, S. Sometimes she gets real carried away.) VC
Don’t forget to save it GGail. They are so special to have. I saved mine, and then had the opportunity to share it in my home with a neighbor of mine who is a very, very, very GOPer, and she could not believe the love of a group of people who have never met each other who are surrounding POB. It blew her away. But I keep exposing them everyday where I live. It is 99% GOPers. One of the reasons I have so many attacks. It is hellish over here, but not to worry, I am a fighter to the core, and they know it.HZ
Gov. Rick Scott drops Florida’s membership in governors group
Governors attending an annual meeting this weekend will take up the theme of “Growing State Economies,” an initiative they hope will boost hiring and create jobs in their home states.
But Florida Gov. Rick Scott, who has made jobs the centerpiece of his administration, will not be at the gathering.
Florida, along with Texas, Ohio and Idaho, is one of four states whose Republican governors have declined to pay annual membership dues to the National Governors Association. Scott is one of just a handful of U.S. governors not going to the annual meeting — 46 governors from U.S. states and territories will be in attendance.
Scott will be in Washington, though. He and his wife, Ann Scott, will fly in Sunday for what many governors and their spouses consider the highlight of the annual weekend in Washington: a black tie dinner hosted by the president and first lady at the White House. The dinner is not affiliated with the NGA.
Can you Believe Rick Scott? He just flies in w/his wife to party, but says the NGA membership is not an appropriate expense for the state of Florida at this time… What a joke!
It is to be hoped that Rick Scott personally paid for both their air fares, etc. to fly in for the partying since he won’t be involved in the business portion of the weekend!!
I feel bad that FLOTUS had to sit next to Bob McDonnell for the evening. Of course, she handled it with her usual grace, but I couldn’t help but notice how (at least in this picture) she’s as far away from him as she could be and still be in her chair: http://www.daylife.com/photo/07KZ9zF9Tkgkw?__site=daylife&q=obama
I don’t how FLOTUS & POTUS do it – remain cool calm and classy in the presence of such evil. Yeah, I said it – evil. When elected officials have the power to enact laws that have sway over my body and they make decisions that would be harmful to me, I consider them evil. I do not have the class this President and his wife have.
Oscar Robinson is better than Jordan (he won the most titles) who average a Triple Double (30.3 points, 10.4 rebounds and 10.6 assists) during his pro career.
We will agree to disagree. One point though, the NBA is watered down these day. It was better in the days of Jordan but best during the era of the Big O.
Sorry ladies but the 1981, 1985, Lakers were the best era of basketball….he may not have invented but Magic Johnson mastered of the triple double. GO Lakers (back then).
Lorraine, there’s one thing we don’t disagree about, we need to re-elect President Barack Obama. So we’ll put our basketball aside for now, but if I see you at President Obama inauguration in 2013, I might discuss Oscar-Jordon some more. I look forward to it.
So glad the wicked witch governor of AZ was not there. I am sure she did not want to tangle with Michelle ’cause she won’t have any of it..not in her house.
UAW members were excited today to learn that President Obama will be joining them next week in Washington when they gather for the union’s National Community Action Program (CAP) Legislative Conference.
More than 1,600 members from across the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico will discuss the union’s legislative and political priorities for the coming year, meet with members of Congress to advocate on behalf of working families and prepare for the union’s 2012 electoral campaign.
UAW members will be focusing on the union’s jobs creation agenda that includes passing President Obama’s American Jobs Act and demanding policies to strengthen our economy…
“President Obama has been seriously focused on his jobs agenda since he took office, beginning with one of his first acts – saving the American auto industry,” said UAW President Bob King. ”
The President will address UAW members on Tuesday morning at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel at 2660 Woodley Road, N.W. UAW members will spend Feb. 29 making legislative visits to discuss the union’s fight for job creation with members of Congress.
Well, I was waiting ‘up’ to see what time Mama Chips got home, but my eyes are closing and I do have work tomorrow, so ‘G’night’ everyone, Someone please keep an eye out for CC and make sure she doesn’t sneak into TODville in the middle of the night.
Always preferred Sound of Music o Mary Poppins. I never got that movie. I grew up watching Sound every Easter. It was/is magical. Watched Poppins once in my life and never will again. It lacked the magic and beauty of Sound. People always tell me I’m crazy when I talk about Poppins. I really never got it. It was sooooo blah :meh:
Billy Chrystal is so fucking boring. His lame jokes are sucking the air from the room. Chris Rock was the BEST part of the Oscars so far. The Oscars need to get on their knees and BEG him to host next year.
Gaaah!!! When your joke about Romney falls flat….that’s a heads up that you SUCK as a host.
I also loved Ellen and Hugh Jackman. Wished the Academy had asked them back also. I’m not watching cause they’ve been so boooooring with the few exceptions mentioned. Rewatching—for the millionth time—- Pirates, the Black Pearl one.
The president addressed the nation’s governors Sunday at the 2012 governors’ dinner. Here’s an excerpt explaining the nature of hospitality at the White House: “You clean up very well. This house has actually seen its share of good times. The story goes that after the inauguration, Andrew Jackson opened the White House to the public and was nearly crushed by the crowd. As things started getting out of hand, the staff decided to pass barrels of ice cream and whiskey out the window — to get people out on the lawn, so they wouldn’t cause damage and break the chandeliers and the furniture. So I just want you to know, in case things get rowdy, we also have a barrel standing by.”
When your ‘calling’ from Jesus is to support for-profit health care because if, God forbid, everyone else gets coverage it might take something from you, go eff yourself. That ain’t the Jesus I read, and even though I’m Jewish my synagogue thought Jesus was a great prophte and teacher (if not the Messiah). When you don’t give a shit about the special needs child of someone making $30,000/year, then you are no Christian. You are nothing but a selfish jerk.
Why doesn’t one of the debate moderators ask what they would do about the lack of health care for so many Americans?
I had a long talk with my best friend today who is an HR VP for an AMERICAN manufacturing company in PA. She says the best thing that can happen is that employers get out of the health care business. They make health insurance decisions based on business complex business decisions that have nothing to do with the health of their employees. She’s an ardent Obama supporter and has studied ACA carefully because of her job. She truly believes that if allowed to be implemented, it will make great changes for the health care of American people.
Thank you for your passion…I share your view. What hurts my heart the most, is that there are people out there who could care less about others….who either don’t want to understand, or refuse to budge from their ideological perch….high above those that would suffer because of their actions.
I do not know where the Santorums went to school but know they both have very advanced degrees including law degrees. That means they are not stupid and should know better than what they are saying. They might have gone to very iffy Universities steeped in religious theology shaping them into their current beliefs.
I saw this over at BJ…in reference to Little Ricky’s comment today about JFK….letting the country know, that as a Catholic, he would not be beholden to the Vatican, and that religious freedom, for all, would be the way of his Administration. Someone there, very aptly, said that PBO should address this, by reading this:
We in the United States, above all, must remember that lesson, for we were founded as a nation of openness to people of all beliefs. And so we must remain. Our very unity has been strengthened by our pluralism. We establish no religion in this country, we command no worship, we mandate no belief, nor will we ever. Church and state are, and must remain, separate. All are free to believe or not believe, all are free to practice a faith or not, and those who believe are free, and should be free, to speak of and act on their belief.
The speaker of those words/thoughts??? Ronald Reagan.
If anyone had notice, these right wing racists radical Republicans who run the Republican Party today wouldn’t even welcome Ronald Reagen. That’s how far, far, far right they have gone. I’m sure Reagen is rolling in his grave asking what the heck have become of his party.
Little Ricky has disqualified himself to be president with his remarks about the separation of church and state. He has shown that he cannot ever be trust to uphold and defend the Constitution. It is one thing to say that your religion guides your behavior and your heart, it is another to actively insert your religion into every form of the nation’s life and politics.
She never used to be this skinny. She used to look healthy, back in the Billy Bob days. Yowzers!! Give how she used to carry herself, I never thought I’d see the day when she’d start to subscribe to Hollywood’s crazy torture beauty regimen of starvation and Botox. Though it looks like she’s full steam ahead with the former and less inclined to the latter. Thank heavens for small favors.
She said she lost a lot of weight after the death of her mom back in 2006 and she’s also made a comment about how she sometimes Fast after visiting malnourished children so she can know how they live. I’m not excusing her weight though because I think it’s irresponsible to appear on national television with close to a billion people watching at that height and weight. So many young girls look up to her and she is constantly described as a sex symbol and she looks very unhealthy. Not good.
I just sort of thought that her leg sticking out of her dress looked kinda bony and her cheeks looked kind of sunken in but just had that passing thought. Now that you all mention it I guess I was not the only one thinking this way.
“Republicans being against sex is not good,” the G.O.P. strategist Alex Castellanos told me mournfully. “Sex is popular.”
So there you have it. A Republican admitting that Republicans are against sex, despite its (obvious) everlasting and overwhelming popularity. File under, “Voting Against Your Own Interests”.
Df, in your wildest dreams, could you imagine a political strategist in 2012 having to say that sex is popular in order to counter the self-righteous prigs running for the presidency in his own party? When statements like these become necessary your party has lost what tenuous hold it has on its sanity.
Surprise surprise…like who couldn’t see this coming from a mile away. I can’t wait to see Romney’s arse get crushed in November 2012. And he will be damaged enough after super Tuesday next week!
The Republicans will do whatever to win an election. Voter suppression is ugly. They’ll tamper with the voting machines, too. They’ve done it before and they’ll do it again.
I was pulling for Viola, but you can’t be mad at Meryl winning — she’s the best actress on the planet.
Viola will get nominated again next year in whatever she’s in, besides she won everything else this year.
DF, The Artist was truly an amazing, unbelievably creative and original film. For a black and white silent film to win in 2012 requires an actor of extraordinary gifts and range and Jean Dujardin brought it all home. All the actors in the best actor category were great, but what Dujardin did was a masterpiece. I think if you saw The Artist and Descendents back to back you’d see the difference. Dupardin utters exactly two words in the entire movie, but you feel as if you know his soul.
I would also say that each of the actresses in the Best Actress category were also amazing. Glen Close as a man was phenomenal, Viola Davis broke your her heart and Meryl–I’ve only seen clips and the “making of” documentary, but she so scarifyingly brought Margaret Thatcher to life it was as if she inhabited the woman. Streep is a once in a century kind of actress. We are blessed to be part of that century.
Wow I’m on record elsewhere on how I felt about The Help, not a fan but of all the nominees from the film, I expected Viola Davis to win if the others didn’t.
I don’t know, I just thought that the character that Viola played was a much better character and less of a caricature than the one played by Octavia Spencer and better acted as well. So the thought of Viola losing and Octavia winning seems off in my brain somehow. But I’m just over thinking of course.
Heck I guess the silver lining is that if you’re gonna lose, then losing to Meryl Streep ain’t bad?
Oh well. Viola in all her natural hairdo glory looked beautiful.
Congrats to Meryl.
ETA: btw, Meryl’s speech was as charming as usual.
Viola has a chance to win an Oscar if Denzel Washington finally brings “Fences” to the big screen. She is a powerhouse of an actress, and I have no doubt that she will win the statuette sooner rather than later.
(Reuters) – British oil giant BP Plc and plaintiffs suing over the 2010 Gulf of Mexico oil spill are discussing a $14 billion settlement that is nearing completion, Bloomberg said, citing three people familiar with the talks.
The settlement would be funded with money originally set aside by the BP for out-of-court settlements, the agency said.
BP would agree to close down its $20 billion Gulf Coast Claims Facility and shift the remaining $14 billion to plaintiffs who contend the spill harmed their businesses and properties, the sources told the agency.
BP could not immediately be reached for comment by Reuters outside regular U.S. business hours.
Buttons showing Arizona’s Governor Jan Brewer and US President Obama are displayed outside the Arizona Federation of Republican Women’s Luncheon on February 22, 2012 in Scottsdale, Arizona. The political organization brings together women to positively impact the direction of the US. The Arizona and Michigan primaries are scheduled to be held on February 28.
I needed a Viola win to take the place of Halle Berry winning Best Actress for Monster’s Ball where she essentially won for wearing no makeup, showing her boobs and having sex with Billy Bob Thornton????
African American Lead Actress/Actor nomination don’t happen often enough let alone actual winners…so I’m gonna have to wait a while before I can get that Halley win out of my head.
It’s sad that some people saw Halle’s Oscar win like that. People tend to forget that Halle also won The National Board of Review, The Berlinale, and the Sag award that year for her performance on Monsters Ball. Personally, I thought she was very good in the film, particularly the hospital scene and the last 5 minutes of the film when she gave one of the best performances in film without even saying a word. Her face said everything we needed to know. If anything, I truly believe she won the award just for that scene alone.
I thought the scene in the hospital when her son died was what got Halle the Oscar. In fact, the was my first thought as I watched it in the theatre. Same thing with Denzel’s Glory win, I recognizing the scene that got it for, while I was sitting in the theatre.
In my opinion it all depends on the competition in that category for that specific year. The sympathy vote comes in when someone is thought to have been cheated out of a nomination or win in a previous year at times. The voters are those in the industry so it means more to the winners to have fellow actors determine the victor.
Final thought, i.e. Oscars: Every movie I’ve seen Viola Davis in she has killed it. She rarely gets the lead role, but as supporting she always stands out, even in crap like “Eat Pray Love” and she was great in “Doubt” with Meryl Streep.
She had a great body of work for an African American actress, if actresses like her were offered more starring roles like Meryl’s or Julia Roberts, then she’d have a better chance I think.
But if the scripts arent’ there, and the money men don’t want to finance a movie with a strong African American woman in the lead role, what can you do? I guess you can do like Tyler Perry, but Tyler Perry gets rounding paned over his movies, but he at least gets his scripts made.
Oh well. Gotta go to bed now. So sad for Viola Davis, but hey I hope she gets a chance at bigger roles now.
hmmm, i said i’d keep the lights on for ms chips, but that young lady is mighty late getting home. makes me wonder–is she having a sleep-over somewhere?
last week i posted an article and video from a hawaii site about the us warship which was greeted by family here, after a 7 month deployment and thousands of live fire engagements.
some of the family members were permitted to sail to california on the warship. this ny times article brings that crossing to life for us. i feel so proud of the us armed services for creating this program!
USA/ today Gallup is opposite of politico, has both Santorum and Ribney up in swing states.
Gallup is a fucking joke! But, that is the one poll which will be quoted over and over…
Promising the Governors that they have “a strong partner” in the White House, President Obama also promised a good time…
The Governors are visiting Washington for the winter meeting of the National Governors Association. Mrs. Obama wore a one-shouldered tulle and silk bisque-colored gown covered in beadwork, her hair in an up-do, with large bejewelled earrings…
After lauding the Governors for their “hard work”–and their looks (“you all look fabulous…you clean up very well”)–the President told a story about President Andrew Jackson’s inauguration, when crowds flooded into the historic rooms, threatening to “crush” the new Commander in Chief.
“As things started getting out of hand, the staff decided to pass barrels of ice cream and whiskey out the window to get people out on the lawn, so they wouldn’t cause damage and break the chandeliers and the furniture,” President Obama said, to laughter.
“So I just want you to know, in case things get rowdy, we also have a barrel standing by.”
The President sat beside Maryland’s First Lady Catherine Curran O’Malley at his table, while Mrs. Obama was seated beside McDonnell at her table. The Governors will be at the White House on Monday, to talk policy in separate meetings with the President and the First Lady…
Happy Birthday GGail!

Mitt Romney Doubles Down On Cadillac Gaffe, Accuses Obama Of Corruption
Please keep it up Willard!!!
That ratfucker doesn’t seem to realize that the Cadillac gaffe doesn’t endear him to voters. When your wife is advocating that you should keep silent and might try more of that tactic in future debates and events; you have a problem.
p.s. Can you provide a link or more of a background to the story Nin?
Beware: Huffyfluffy link:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/02/26/mitt-romney-cadillac_n_1302193.html
13. he’s a wanker.
14. All of the above.
ha. wanker. i love this word. i think i’ll try to find more ways to use it.
Pardon my ignorance, susanne, but what is a ‘wanker’?
It’s a British term to insult someone. Here’s urban dictionary that has several meanings.
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=wanker
Correct. The only thing I’ve ever heard PBO mention as an indulgence is food, especially pie
DANG!
Forgot to add Happy Birthday to GGail and I will cut you a big slice of that pie ♥
What thin-skinned jackass he is.
Corruption? On what grounds ? Unbelievable.
It was the auto bailout — in a word, pandering to the workers, the unions, and the auto industry. Romney is a first-class nitwit.
Also, happy birthday GGail!
When these stupid ass GOP candidates makes these claims, why don’t the media ask them to prove any corruption of Obama? Prove corruption by Obama. It will be easy to prove that Mitt Romney is a bold face liar.
Happy Birthday GGail!
Great news nintendowii10, Willard is such a complete dork!
Happy Birthday, GGail!!! For your entertainment, we’ve given you the entire Republican party! You’ll just ROTFLYAO all day long!
Uh, no thanks desertflower – I will re-gift this gift to someone else and keep the POTUS pic that Chipsticks has given me – thank you very much!!! LOL!!!!!
Good idea
!
I’m bringing my Gov’s interview on FTN over to the new thread
BTW – Bob Schieffer’s gushing over Chris Cristie was nauseating.
http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=7400072n&tag=contentMain;contentBody
There was like a change in the air when your Governor came on that is for sure, ummm I would liken it to intelligence
and it all belong to Governor O’ Malley. I have to thank Chipsticks for this site,
because I save myself a lot of time just coming here instead watching half those so call
news show. I continue to be puzzle by the American media, that supports a guy; who talks about “the tree
are the right height” Lol he makes Bush look like a genius.
Makes Bush looks like a genius……now that’s hysterical!!
IMPORTANT READ! Pass this around. Shear greed.
http://thinkprogress.org/report/koch-oil-speculation/
This story needs to go out far and wide.
Agree, Jackie. Even more relevant now than it was in June of last year. Thank you df!
#PRESSON
Thank YOU, love
The whores of Babylon anybody?
and yet they say it’s pbo’s fault that gas prices have gone up? yes, it’s greed, but it’s also power madness.
I was so glad to see what that conservative George Will had to say about the right wing nuts trying to blame President Obama for the high gas prices.
Happy Birthday GGirl! Celebrate!
Have a wonderful Birthday GGail~ enjoy your day
Happy birthday Gail!
Sherry, sherijr, Tien Le, this is A GREAT birthday – and you all have made it possible.
I humbly thank you all (she says while adjusting her Maxine Waters wig)
You must really L.O..V.E that wig, don’t you, GGail? Sure wish I could see you wearing it! Tonight on the ‘carpet’….
Pamela, I put it on and I can’t get it OFF! hahahahahaha!!!!
Hee, sounds like a lovely an memorable birthday, with the Aries moon in conjunction with Jupiter at 7:43pm (pst) to top it off! nice!
The comments on the Obama campaign’s verified account are mostly in Chinese and reached a torrent in the last few days, drawing puzzlement and complaints from some American users.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/africa
That’s the wrong link Jovie.
Here’s a link from BBC news:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-china-17167770
What’s up?
Reply
heh, no – in fact this is the first time I’m seeing that button
I looked for it before when you all talked about it, but didn’t have it.. until today, and wow, love that it lets you know that you’ve got replies to your comments, how much easier & convenient is that..!
I don’t have it either
Maybe we only get ‘turns’ at it?
Initially I didn’t have it while others were bragging, then I had it for days (and tried not to brag
), but since last night I noticed it was missing. It was certainly a good tool to have and I sure hope my turn comes around again sometime soon.
I’ve never had it, vcpof, as it felt like I would lose my existing screen name if I activated the WP account and I couldn’t see that making any sense.
VCprez, have you logged in thru WordPress? Mine wasn’t there, but then I logged into via WordPress and it showed up. Kinda handy, I must say…
i just now see it because I logged in via WordPress too and it showed up just now. YEAH
Hee! I am also a lady locksmith, vc, had to learn not to blame my tools in my apprentice years! You made me chuckle!
I got it briefly for one day recently and it disappeared. It was pretty niffty!
Wow.
Yeah. WOW!

The Koch Bro with a conscience is hated in the family….but tells the truth.

That was a very interesting story. House divided.
Saw that sales of existing homes was up last month. Have personal anecdotal proof. Indy daughter sold her condo this week which had been for sale since last summer. And we’re visiting family in Florida, sister in real estate biz, sales are hopping again, sold 2 this week within 24 hours of listing.
Very good news, Dotster, for your family and for economy!
Happy Birthday and best wishes GGail!!
Great idea, ACLU!

Happy Birthday GGail!!!
Happy Birthday Gail..
Enjoy your day:-)
Any footy fans just watch the Carling Cup?? HFS!!!
Yep! Watching it in bed with fat cat Zeke. I was a complete neutral, but typical of the Scousers for coughing up the lead twice.
If I may ask LL – how is the puppy getting along with Zeke?
Soon they will be best friends before you know it!!!
Actually they’re pretty close to being friends. The other cats are a whole other matter.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY GGAIL!!!
Now go getready for the red carpet!! Tell Sascha HI for me.
Happy Birthday Tim Kaine:
Today is Tim’s 54th birthday, and we’ve been working on a special card for him. I hope you’ll take a moment to send him a birthday wish.
With the negative ads already running on television, this campaign can be draining. But nothing keeps Tim going more than hearing from supporters and constituents — and I know he’ll enjoy reading your well-wishes.

Tim and GGail are sharing the same birthday!
Well, what do you know????? I’m among Greatness!!! Tim Kaine – whoo hooooooo

CONSERVATIVE GEORGE WILL RIPS GOP’S POLITICIZATION OF GAS PRICES AS ‘ECONOMIC NONSENSE’
http://thinkprogress.org/green/2012/02/26/432611/george-will-gas-prices/
And if anyone should know economic nonsense it’s George Will.
Happy BDay, GG!! Have a good Syrah with dinner.
Sorry LL – I gave it up for Lent, but I can swish my water and pretend
Sorry I’m late GG. Hope you had a good one.
Thanks yardarm – it’s never too late for b’day greetings!

Good for George Will….

Amazing; even George knows….
Had no doubt he’d know, that he’d call it what it is – ‘nonsense’ – is a bit of a surprise
Thank you df!!

Hugs to you, Bob
Bobfr, it shows how desperate the Republicans are.
I loved his comment about lobsters growing on trees.
That’s fine for some, but out here, where we have REAL trees, they are simply too tall to allow us to cull those lobsters.
Get a ladder.
Now ladders make me a wee tad bit nervous in my early 60′s… Never bothered me before…
Well no lobster for you unless you get a long pole.
Forget the lobsters, Pamela, are the trees the right height? That’s very important. You can’t love them if they’re not the right height, not even if they have lobsters in them!
Hey Pamela, I found the WordPress button (my other self mutters ‘Like it was lost. Really’
), signed in there, and it doesn’t seem to have changed my user name yet. It might be safe for you to try.
And – ta da!- the little magic box has now returned! Woot! My techie skills are improving….gradually. By the time I have it all mastered, laptops will be obsolete, if they aren’t already.
Eeekk!

A very special thank you HZ. I am having a wonderful day filled with good gospel, love and laughter. I couldn’t ask for a better birthday.
Beautiful, GGail. (((((((Hugs))))))HZ

read this story and if it indeed true then who else can be worse than this banker??
Arrogance at its finest. Hey! He’s got HIS!
When people are this selfish, sooner or later things turn against them. Karma will straighten him out.
Karma DOES have a way of working things out! I smile
The wait staff in rich Newport Beach talks and knows one another. He will get his – no doubt about it!
psst! psst! **whisper. whisper** Guys, TODville is getting real close to the 8 mill hits. Maybe we could surprise Chips Chica, by kick starting the fundraising $8 donations now and leading up to when we hit the mark? As opposed to waiting until we hit the number? It seems like a good time as we are also close to the end of the month /** softer whisper/ and CC is not here.

I’m in. I donated $24 in case someone else couldn’t donate at this time.

‘We can refuse to let women’s bodies be separated from their voices’
http://thepoliticalcarnival.net/2012/02/26/melissa-harris-perry-calls-this-a-footnote-i-call-it-a-headline/
Must Read.
http://www.aljazeera.com/indepth/opinion/2012/02/2012219111137661942.html
“Romney says that, on the first day in office he would take ten actions to turn around the economy, including sending a package of five bills to Congress and asking for action within 30 days.”
Romney called that package of bills the “Day One, Job One Initiative”, clearly highlighting their importance, in his view. It included:
Reducing the corporate income tax from 35 per cent to 25 per cent, which he claimed would induce short-term job growth through incentive hiring;
Passing the “stalled” Colombia, Panama and South Korea Free Trade agreements;
Calling for a survey of US energy reserves that could in turn promote domestic production of energy and create jobs;
Making states responsible for retraining programs; and
Submitting a bill to cut non-security discretionary spending by five per cent
/snip/
Romney also promised to issue five executive orders to:
Repeal “Obamacare”;
Eliminate or repeal any Obama-era regulations that “have a negative effect on job creation and economic growth”;
Develop a streamlined process to create new oil and gas drilling;
Correct. They think it’s bad now? They ain’t seen nothing yet!
” Passing the “stalled” Colombia, Panama and South Korea Free Trade agreements;”
What a dope….those were signed last October 21,2011
http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2011/10/18/president-obama-sign-korea-panama-colombia-free-trade-agreements-and-tra
But the no nothing’s that support this guy don’t know that:) That’s part of the problem…they believe ANYTHING! Except the truth.
That’s why “Mrs Romney” doesn’t want any more debates – so no one can say, “Hey Mitt, Obama wants 25% tax for Corps, and already passed the trade agreement you’re talking about. Looks like you AGREE WITH PRESIDENT OBAMA AND ARE JUST THE SAME ON SOME STUFF.”
kryptonite
No wonder some people want to close it.
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/01/31/opinion/dont-stop-the-gop-debates.html
Too late. That horse left the barn already…the attack ads for Mr. Romney write themselves….in his own words.
i was wondering about the romney statement : is he totally unaware that these trade deals were passed or is he just lying as usual
GGail!
May you have many many many more!!!!!
HOW PRECIOUS….HOPE YOU HAVE A BEAUTIFUL BIRTHDAY GGAIL!
OMGoodness – relit – this is just precious!!!!
You all have been so sweet with the b’day greetings that as hungry as I am from coming from church, I can’t eat for reading!!!!
At this point I just can’t help but laugh. They hate JFK again. This is hilarious.
Ok, I missed this. Who hates JFK again, and why?
Because PBO is saying he wants to do the same thing JFK did – lower the corp tax rate, and close loopholes which actually takes in more tax $$$.
Ah. With every move he makes, he exposes them more for what they are.
It’s a wonderful thing.
What’s old is new again!
Happy Birthday GGail!
Hope your days is filled with many blessings along with great friends and family.
Forgive if already posted:

INDEED…THE SAME NIGHT BIN LADEN GOT HIS PRESENT! WHOOP-DE-DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
i like the fact that the new born is being blessed or annointed right there in crib and that the other animals promptly start bowing to the baby.
I just loved the look on that bully jackass face Donald Trump.

I had not thought of the implication of willard’s plea to ” Let Detroit Go Bankrupty” and how it related to the NASCAR events.
i must say that the team at the DNC is acting very swiftly these days
the gop campaign has clearly exposed that the former missionary and now front runner candidate is a routine liar! why in the world did the good people of MA not give us a heads up about how much and how effortlessly their former governor lies???
Very likely they were so relieved to finally be rid of him, no one wanted to speak his name again. Just guessin’?
They really did, but noone paid attention. His approval rating was SO low in 2005-2006, he knew not to run again….he would be slaughtered by whoever ran. We were in MA in 2006, and there were billboards telling him to leave! The basic attitude was “Don’t let the door hit you on the way out!” If and when the general election starts, we’ll hear MUCH from MA if he is the candidate. They won’t waste their energy in the primaries. And, of course by the general, everyone will know him.
Mufasa is seriously cute! Who knew lions were so appealing? ahhhh. The magic of Disney.

Thank you so much!
GOOD DEEDS, in theaters now.
Tyler
I saw it this weekend. Loved it!
Dudette, I did, too–it is a really good movie.

Afternoon TODers
Oh gross. He should spend more time working off his gut.
Ugh… I could only stomach 90 seconds of this creep and already feel like I need a shower. His psycho butt should be kicked out of office.
So now all of these politicians are going to try to sing – GEEZ. Who’s next – Santorum singing “Let’s get it on?”
LOL!
aaiiiiiiyyeeeeeeeeee! now i have that picture in my head!
lolololool….
orrrr…
Will you still love me tomorrowwww…hahaha
I CAN’T EVEN WATCH WEST…WHY RUIN A GOOD DAY!
No thanks, I’ll pass. I’m not gonna ruin my birthday with Allen West – YUCK!
Happy Birthday! Mine was 2 weeks ago, but I’ll probably wait till the summertime to have an “official” celebration.
Mine was on the 8th of Feb. This is a good month for bdays.
Happy birthday GGail.Yep, a great month for birthdays, especially with all the ‘pleasurable Pisceans’. Mine is coming up on Tuesday 28th ..and it is a milestone, so I am running around trying to get it organised.
i could have used a more robust warning about the abuse of music that west displays here!!!!
God knows I tried to watch and listen to this crap but I just could stand about a minute of it! please stop embarassing us – you are not PBO!
Isn’t West the jackass who made some comment about having to pay $70 dollar worth of gas in his Hummer. Boo-Hoo-Hoo. I’m crying. Not.
What a creep!
What will they do? Daytona 500 postponed until Monday.
God found out Santorum was attending and said “Hell no! I’m canceling this shit!”
I think so!
As far as I’m concern they can postpone it forever. I don’t like the way the sorry ass fans treated FLOTUS and Dr. Biden that time.
Well, that did not take long, Robney is ahead of Santorum in Gallup Daily tracking.
Santorum is even more stupid than he’s crazy, he had the win in his pocket, but he really believed the hype. Stupid lunatic.
Anyways, I want to run against Romney. Really really.
He really is nuts; now he is saying that the separation of church and state makes him sick…. Is there anything else he’d like to attack? I thought attacking higher education was bad enough, but he pretty much summed it up with this one… NUTS!
Gallup who tracking? That Republican Poll.
Woohooo…..Oscars red carpet! Mila Jokovich looks amazing!
Dear df. I’m afraid your govenor is the poster child for The Peter Principle or a three legged deer in the headlights.

And you all know that FLOTUS will be off the hook!
At 5:00 . I was hoping to go get a peek…but that time of day going from Northeast Atlanta all the way down to Southwest Atlanta could take hours…on a Friday afternoon.
Waahhhh.. !!!!
Way to go Tyler Perry and the AA Leadership Council.
Thanks defytheodds for sharing!
You’re Welcome!
thanks for this info about the Tyler Perry fundraiser!!!!
There is an Electric Car plug in at my local Walgreen’s. First one I have seen in my area.
Great. Now all I have to do is get a couple of retirement checks together and buy me one o’ them cars.
I hear Santorum is watching the Oscars red carpet and thinking….”I’d like to transvaginally probe her, her, her, him, him, him, her, him, her and getting all pre-frothy.
What a dirty man.
STOP IT UT! I’m on the floor lmbao.
and I peed my pants.
BWAHAHAHAHA!!!!! My work here is done!
I’m gonna get you back one day.
Depends.
Too late. Gotta get the wet vac.
I love you all!!!! I am screaming.HZ
Correction: This is a party leadership vote, not an election. The elections will be held in 2013!!
Either way hope, it’s outstanding. She’s a class act IMHO!
Yay! PBO probably called and congratulated her. So glad to hear!
YEA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good for her! I heard about the challenge on the news Friday and the promise they both made that whoever won the other would not challenge him/her again. Now she can focus her energies on governing.
congrats tp PM Gillard. I remember the arrogant speech given by Rudd when PBO was Australia.
Meant “to”.
I thought the arrogant speech was from the opposition leader? Rudd was the former PM who was ousted in a “coup” by Gillard, wasn’t he?
Yes, it was the opposition leader of the other party that gave that idiotic speech…he’s one of the Howard group that was close to Bush. Anyway, at least this is sorted and they can move on.
Congrats to her. This is kind of bittersweet for me because I like both Gillard and Kevin Rudd (a true statesman).
Yes!
Little pricey to get SS protection Monday!
Where did you see that and why does he need it ?
The Page!
How much will this cost da tax payer?
What?! Why? For what? What a waste of money.
Hey Tally, I see Sasha in his dictator outfit on the Red Carpet! bwaaaahaaaaahaaaaaa!
Anyone watching the Oscars? I’m definitely rooting for “The Artist” to sweep. I love that film. Also rooting for Octavia Spencer, Jean Dujardin, Christopher Plummer, and Rooney Mara in the acting categories.
I’m rooting for Clooney and “The Descendants” as well!
Rooting hard for Clooney, Davis, Spencer, and The Descendants.
Danish news about their PM’s visit to the White House
http://www.cphpost.dk/news/international/thorning-schmidt-and-obama-trade-praise-avoid-criticism

Pres. Obama praises nation’s governors
From Obamafoodama:

Ok, am I seeing nipple on JLo?
You itching to join yardarm?
It’s possible…you guys always strain your eyes!
Y’all leave J Lo’s nipps alone. They doin’ jus’ fine thank you very much!
SEE! Guys, you BOTH need a shower
And you hens need a truck load of naughty mats!
Set the special sea and anchor detail.
Big discussion in the DonnaDem house on this topic. Its a 50/50 split but I’m with you LL. I think so
Interesting that all the men say no and all the women say yes.
She had a total nip slip. That’s why she had to turn around and adjust her dress. She doesn’t seem to realize this isn’t the 90′s.
I wondered the same thing.
When Tim Gunn was interviewing her outside, they pulled up the camera to focus more on her face. I thought that was conspicuous. Then later when she was presenting, I was surprised no one had her adjust the dress before she went onstage.
We are so blessed to have her as our First Lady!
donna dem, yes we are bless to have FLOTUS as our First Lady. 4 more years…. 4 more years….4 more years!!!!!!!!!!!
She is SUCH an incredibly beautiful woman. Inside and out.
Donna, your words said it all. How does she do it time-after-time?
That’s MY FLOTUS! I wonder who is the lucky designer tonight. Hopefully Chips will provide us with more beautiful pictures when she returns.
She’s utterly amazing. Our FLOTUS is more beautiful than any of the actresses on the red carpet. She would put them all to shame.
Oh my goodness. That is such an elegant picture.
The essence of Elegance we have before us in our First Lady. She never disappoints, NEVER. Eat your heart out McDonnell.HZ

Thanks, vc…can’t wait for that day. We will have a party!!
Oh boy! NOW I can’t wait. Maybe we should have 2 parties, one now as a dry run so that we can work out any possible kinks, and another on the real day.

Beautifully done, symmetry11, you are amazing!

symmetry11 – oh how so very creatively beautiful. Thank you!!!!!!
I can’t remember when I’ve felt such good wishes from so many people whom I’ve never met face to face.
I truly LOVE MY TOD FAMILY!
I’m gonna save this TOD thread
He just flies in w/his wife to party, but says the NGA membership is not an appropriate expense for the state of Florida at this time… What a joke!
http://www.tampabay.com/news/politics/stateroundup/gov-rick-scott-drops-floridas-membership-in-governors-group/1217049
It is to be hoped that Rick Scott personally paid for both their air fares, etc. to fly in for the partying since he won’t be involved in the business portion of the weekend!!
Moocher.
I feel bad that FLOTUS had to sit next to Bob McDonnell for the evening. Of course, she handled it with her usual grace, but I couldn’t help but notice how (at least in this picture) she’s as far away from him as she could be and still be in her chair:
http://www.daylife.com/photo/07KZ9zF9Tkgkw?__site=daylife&q=obama
There is a little distance between them.
Lest he tries anything with his grimy Republican paws while POTUS’s back is turned.
Tell me what woman with any dam sense would want to sit next to that McDonald cheep?
Pretty sure she insisted on it, so she could dazzle the hell out of him; he looked delighted, full of himself!
That McDonnell has the smarmiest face. He has the same smug look as Willard.
Creepy VEEP wannabe
I don’t how FLOTUS & POTUS do it – remain cool calm and classy in the presence of such evil. Yeah, I said it – evil. When elected officials have the power to enact laws that have sway over my body and they make decisions that would be harmful to me, I consider them evil. I do not have the class this President and his wife have.
Academy Award Winner, Octavia Spencer!
Yeah!! She deserved it.
Lovely, lovely!
Nice to see Hugo getting props. It was simply sumptuous. My 9 yr old nephew applauded at the end of it. He never does that!
Kobe just passed Michael Jordan is points at the All Star Game! Kobe! Kobe! Kobe!!!
Congratulation to Kobe. I was a Michael Jordon fan, Jordon was and will always be the best.
Oscar Robinson is better than Jordan (he won the most titles) who average a Triple Double (30.3 points, 10.4 rebounds and 10.6 assists) during his pro career.
30.3 points , 10.4 rebounds, 10.6 assists is good I will admit, but Jordon still was and will always be the best.
LeBron James & Kevin Durant are going off in the All-Star Game. To bad PBO had to miss it.
Lorraine, there’s one thing we don’t disagree about, we need to re-elect President Barack Obama. So we’ll put our basketball aside for now, but if I see you at President Obama inauguration in 2013, I might discuss Oscar-Jordon some more. I look forward to it.
Agree,
Jordan >>>
Love me some Diane Reeves!
Our POTUS looks mighty handsome tonight. I bet he is wishing he was watching the NBA All Star game.
He probably had Malia set the DVR, so after the dinner he could relax to a nice evening of ball.
Or having some quiet time with FLOTUS and the girls.
So glad the wicked witch governor of AZ was not there. I am sure she did not want to tangle with Michelle ’cause she won’t have any of it..not in her house.
President Obama to join UAW members at conference

Christopher Plummer wins his first Oscar at 82!
Another well deserved win!! I’ve been a fan since I saw him in “The Sound of Music”.
I can’t believe it’s his FIRST Oscar. He’s a great actor. I’ll never forget the Sound of Music.
I like Ellen also, she was really good. I would bet they ask her again next year.
Slow your roll ut. The sun’s gonna rise in the morning.
I guess I’m dating myself but I love Billy
Chrystal isn’t that bad is he? I’m not watching the Oscars.
Happy Birthday ggail. Hope it was a good one!

A must-read: http://www.addictinginfo.org/2012/02/25/despicable-rick-santorums-wife-uses-her-sick-child-to-lie-about-health-care-reform/
So the radical lying bastard Rick Santorum will be getting Secret Services protection. You mean the phony holy man can’t protect himself.
Sounds like Mrs. Santorum is as much lying fruitcake as Mr. Santorum.
Sounds like Mrs. Santorum is as much of a lying fruitcake as her sweetie pie husband Mr. Santorum.
Angelina looks anorexic
I just said the same thing to my daughter.
Sad, really.
I don’t get why people are ga-ga over her. She looks like an emaciated twig. Not my vision of beauty.
Yes. She is a bit on the slim side. Not much to keep a chap warm on a cold winter night I’ll bet. Where’s the beef?
Definitely not on her ass.
I’m glad you said that instead of me. I was thinking the same thing. I’ve got a vision about booty’s and thighs. Forget I said that.
Yardarm, to the naught mat – at once!
So many would NOT be welcome now. What an ugly, hateful cartoon they have become.
Nate Silver is having a Romneygasm

She never used to be this skinny. She used to look healthy, back in the Billy Bob days. Yowzers!! Give how she used to carry herself, I never thought I’d see the day when she’d start to subscribe to Hollywood’s crazy
torturebeauty regimen of starvation and Botox.
PoliticalCarnival
H.I.L.A.R.I.O.U.S df, laughed so hard at this!
Going to be a little tough to weasel out of that
Df, in your wildest dreams, could you imagine a political strategist in 2012 having to say that sex is popular in order to counter the self-righteous prigs running for the presidency in his own party? When statements like these become necessary your party has lost what tenuous hold it has on its sanity.
Never! Never, ever, ever, ever! Aren’t they mortified??? Yikes, what a mess of pathetic candidates.

Riiiiight.
—– by the time Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumbass leave MI, there’ll be a different story.
Surprise surprise…like who couldn’t see this coming from a mile away. I can’t wait to see Romney’s arse get crushed in November 2012. And he will be damaged enough after super Tuesday next week!
So now I have to see The Artist, War Horse and Hugo, I just have to.
And so it begins, people: Anti-voter laws turning people away this past week: http://www.bradblog.com/?p=9139 Man this is ugly.
The Republicans will do whatever to win an election. Voter suppression is ugly. They’ll tamper with the voting machines, too. They’ve done it before and they’ll do it again.
sabreen60, I know the Republicans will try any and every dirty trick to win. I remember 2000.
I forgot Elizabeth Taylor died this year
I love Meryl Streep
I like Streep also, but black actress get so few chances, and Davis was so good, but her time will come I guess.
Love Meryl Streep but Viola Davis got robbed. George Clooney also got robbed.
I wanted George to win. SO bad. Has to wonder what he has to do to get that statue.
He has one for Syriana. That man is not going home crying.
I was pulling for Viola, but you can’t be mad at Meryl winning — she’s the best actress on the planet.
Viola will get nominated again next year in whatever she’s in, besides she won everything else this year.
I’ve you seen The Artist? I like George, but Jean Dujardin’s performance in The Artist was truly magnificent and heartbreaking at the same time.
Agreed I thought Viola deserved the Oscar for her role more than Octavia but I’m truly happy for her.

Can you BELIEVE the nerve? Looks like the Republican Federation of Biddies of AZ has decided to turn the Wicked Witch’s folly into a button.

I just saw this for the first time. Thought of all you lovely Obots. Sweet dreams…
MAYYYYSSAAA!!! Yay!!! Love her from way back in her Incognito days.
Thank you soooo much WOS… This is beautiful!
What a joy to go sleep with this being the last thing to see and hear for the day.
WINNER!!!!
Walking _on_Sunshine, thanks for the video, it was real nice.
I was hoping Viola Davis would win best actress.
Lights out. Time to hit the rack. See you in the am. Taps, taps, taps.
hmmm, i said i’d keep the lights on for ms chips, but that young lady is mighty late getting home. makes me wonder–is she having a sleep-over somewhere?
last week i posted an article and video from a hawaii site about the us warship which was greeted by family here, after a 7 month deployment and thousands of live fire engagements.
some of the family members were permitted to sail to california on the warship. this ny times article brings that crossing to life for us. i feel so proud of the us armed services for creating this program!

More on last night’s WH Governor’s Dinner (including the menu)
http://obamafoodorama.blogspot.com/2012/02/president-obama-first-lady-host-2012.html
