Snow falls as people stand in line to see President Obama in Nashua, N.H.

Arriving at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, New Hampshire
****

President Obama walks to board Marine One helicopter from the South Lawn of the White House, March 1

For some reason, missing from the schedule:

Manchester airport waiting for the President. Crews clearing the runway …. “Believe it or not there is a runway out there.”

President Obama’s motorcade drives through a snow storm enroute to a speech on energy policy and the economy at Nashua Community College

he he he
Winner! I thought the snow pic was appropriate considering what’s waiting for PBO in Manchester
Morning LunarSea!
That’s perfect for me here is Maine. I’m off from work today because of snow. LOL That would not have happened 10 years ago, but this new crop of Mainer’s are scared of 6 inches. Used to be business per usual unless there was a foot or more, but who am I to complain?
And I love this picture because it reminds me of my family playing in the snow. My favorite was building dragons and coloring them with colored water before the water froze.
The kids loved to take a cup of boiling water and throw it into the air, where upon it instantly turned to snow. What fun…thanks for the memories as well as the picture.
I love to see POTUS with Malia and Sasha, you know a Father with his daughters.
Gorgeous picture.
When is he talking?
1:30PM.
Thank you. need my fix…
It looks to be at 1:30 ET, Carol.
Its like that here today.. snowing all morning & just stopped- March in like a Lion in ND. We’ve had the strangest winter ever imo.
Meanwhile in the mid-Atlantic we’re experiencing very mild winter. I’m not complaining at all! Mother Nature loves PBO. She wants him to travel smoothly to fundraise, so she’s taking it easy on Washington for now.
We’ve had a very very mild winter here also.. it’s snowed about 4 times this winter.. and two of those times have been this week.. so rare. I’m not complaining either, it’s been like spring here for months.
Is it safe for him to be flying into that kind of weather. I hope everything goes smoothly.
Anybody have a idea of what the final tally will be on the Blunt Bill?
what runway ? Does AF1 have skiing wheels ?
I wondered that too amk
No one seems to be in the Senate Chamber…where are they hiding…they are calling the roll right now.
Can you believe this crap at the Clarendon metro station? Metro officials know they did not have to go with this because of the profanity.

For those who are interested…..the followng is the contact number
Media Relations. 202-962-1051.
I just called and the poor lady on the phone is really getting heat. She said there was nothing they could do because it is a First Admendment issue…LOL…she also said most of the people there voted for the president.
THANK YOU!
I would love to take a Louisville slugger to that screen.
Santorum: Breitbart ‘a huge loss for our country’
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/03/01/santorum-breitbart-a-huge-loss-for-our-country/
Hah!!
And that is the joke for today…. LMAO
I posted this on the other thread.
He means a loss for Republicans. Their go to smearmeister has left the building. My condolences to his family but let’s not kid ourselves. Breitbart was a piece of work that had no problems twisting the facts and lying about it in order to destroy someone else’s life. Don’t worry Rick. You’ll find another one.
Wait, what happened? Breitbart had a heart attack? He always looked to me that he was on the verge of one.
Just followed the link — dead of a heart attack at 43. That’s a … shock.
I know Joan, you could have knocked me over with a feather …….!
How are things with you Joan, I hope you’re back to full strength after your ordeal?
Yes, KKK kountry.
Nation’s Electric Grid Gets Smart
Per a provision in the Recovery Act, the Department of Energy has begun the long process of modernizing the nation’s 110-year-old electric grid. Expected to take possibly two decades to complete, the building of the so-called “Smart Grid” is a federal government partnership with utility companies, which are adding approximately $5 billion for the initial phase to DOE’s $4.5 billion.
The effort will essentially computerize the current electric grid and install digital communication systems among grid components so that electricity can be delivered much more efficiently, collectively saving consumers and businesses billions of dollars over the next 20 years, officials say………
Tomorrow’s Grid
One key feature of the Smart Grid will be in-home/office Smart Meters: digital devices that will communicate directly with a utility’s operations center. Among many other capabilities, Smart Meters will let consumers know how much electricity they’re using at any moment and what the cost is. Other components, like transformers and substations, will similarly communicate with the utility. In addition, the Smart Grid will include more sources of renewable energy, such as solar and wind power.

Sen. Patty Murray moves to table the Blunt Amendment. Clerk now calling the roll. Simple majority needed.
http://www.c-span.org/Live-Video/C-SPAN2/
I almost want this to pass so PBO can make a huge speech infront of the nation when he veteos it but I think it would look bad for the Dems because we can control the Senate (even if it is only by a very slim margin). It’ll turn off the low-information voters and suppress turnout.
Recovery Funds Remove and Secure Nuclear Waste
Workers completed the last phase of nuclear waste cleanup at the Nuclear Radiation Development site near Grand Island, New York, and at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in Berkeley, California.
Last summer a total of four truckloads – three from Nuclear Radiation Development, one from Berkeley –of soil, sludge, tools, rags, and protective clothing contaminated with radioactive elements was driven to a Department of Energy (DOE) disposal site outside Carlsbad, New Mexico. Encased in steel drums, the waste was then placed in storage facilities more than 2,000 feet below ground. Costs were covered by $172 million in Recovery funding.
About the same time, DOE and Savannah River Nuclear Solutions supervised the sealing of two decommissioned reactors at the historic Savannah River Site in South Carolina. During the 1950s, the site played a leading role in nuclear weapons manufacturing that produced tritium and plutonium-239. The sealed reactors were the two oldest of five decommissioned reactors on the site. The remaining three will be sealed at a later date.
Before the doors of one reactor were welded shut, officials placed inside a time capsule containing items depicting the history of the site and showing current events in the region and the nation. Items ranged from documents recording the decommissioning process for the reactors to a copy of People magazine featuring the royal wedding in Britain.
The two reactors are expected to stay in their present states for 1,400 years.
Since the 1990s, the Department of Energy has been working to treat and remove contamination on the 310-square-mile Savannah River Site. Recovery funds totaling $1.6 billion are allowing DOE to accelerate the Savannah River Site efforts.
The two reactors are expected to stay in their present states for 1,400 years.
To put this into perspective – 1,400 years ago was 612, during the reign of the do-nothing kings of the Merovingian empire, roughly a century before Charles Martel drove back the muslim invaders to the Iberian Peninsula.
So to the visitors of 3,412 it will mostly be: Waz that – Britain ? Rojal – could you spell that for me ?
President Barack Obama walks to Air Force One from Marine One prior to departure from Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland, March 1, 2012. Obama is traveling to Nashua, New Hampshire to speak about the economy, before continuing to New York City to attend Democratic fundraisers.
Oh crikey:
Snow falls as people stand in line as they to see President Barack Obama , Thursday, March 1, 2012, in Nashua, N.H.
Stay warm my friends!!! He’ll be there soon
WOW…THIS PIC…SAYS IT ALL…VERY MUCH LOVE AND DEVOTION FOR PBO!
Hellloooooo, New Hampshire
. Love my fellow Americans waiting for the Prez….in the snow (as I sit here in 70 degrees in Richmond)!
I’ll take 70 degrees, thank you very much. But with a fire in the wood stove it is nice and toasty inside while pretty out the window.
I’m so jealous of you LunaSea. I’ve been wanting snow for the longest here in Pennsylvania. It just doesn’t seem like winter, more like early spring, so the onset of warm weather will be no biggy for me this year. I love hibernating, and hoping the neighborhood does the same for a bit of peace, before all the loud cars and kids hollering, running across your lawns and such….LOL. So, I’ve decided to cancel winter inside, and start planning my garden.
Yes Feb snows are the favorite time for planning gardens in Maine. I think everyone I know does it. Now is the time I like to start rosemary and parsley seeds, because they take so darn long to germinate. Unfortunately I haven’t order my seeds as early as usual this year. Too much other work.
I think I’ll browse the catalogs to see what’s new. Thanks for the suggestion
wow.I love pictures of these loyal supporters. Go obots.
I hope every one of these Men voted Aye…never gets laid again…
I thought Aye votes was to kill the bill, nay was to pass it. I’m a little confused.
You are right……I am wrong.
You are right. Yay is for the good side.
51 Yes vs 48 No.
mnchin, nelson and cassey joined the rethugs. fucking nelson had to stab the party eve as he was leaving.
Manchin makes my skin crawl – the other two do too, but ooooh, that guy.
I agree, there’s a special place in hell for Manchin. I don’t think he was ever a dem. I think he saw the spot as the only way to win and went for it. He is consistently against everything -not just some things- that dems are for, by and large
ha ha ha ha ha, he funny….
I so greatly admire House Minority Leader, Nancy “SMASH” Pelosi !
Thank you former & future Speaker Nancy Pelosi!
Vote on Sen Murray’s motion to table Blunt Amendment: Yes 51; NO 48
Good grief..that was close
If Kirk was there it would have moved forward.
It would have still been 51 to 49 at worst or 52 to 48 at best and would not have still been tabled.
Democrats Narrowly Block Blunt Amendment
==================================
Senate Republicans voted overwhelmingly Thursday in favor of a measure that would permit any employer to deny services in their health plan, such as birth control, that they deem morally objectionable. The amendment offered by Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO) was struck down 51-48 in a motion to table, thanks to virulent opposition by Democrats and one GOP holdout. Democrats are eager to hang to vote around the GOP’s neck in the upcoming elections.

they’re waiting in the snow?
good for them
51-48. 3 measley votes. Now imagine if PBO and Sebellius had not overruled the FDA and allowed Plan B on the shelf, that would have passed with flying colors.
All that counts is it’s dead. One vote or ten.
Exactly, derbingle.
Seems the dead man suffered heart problems a year ago. One would think knowing this, one would be a bit kinder, never knowing when he’ll meet his maker. Also, he’s the son-in-law of actor Orson Bean. I didn’t know that.
Collins expressed skepticism about the wide scope of Blunt’s amendment, but said the administration’ incomplete rule — specifically its lack of detail about how to treat self-insured plans — compelled her to support the measure.
“I feel that I have to vote for Sen. Blunt’s amendment with the hope that the scope will be narrowed and refined,” she said, adding, “I do this with a lot of conflict.”

BS Alert
She’s the queen of BS. I loathe her.
I used to just disagree with republicans, but their actions of late have really caused me to despise them, which for me is very out of character. However, now when I hear someone is republican, I just have to shake my head and walk away with no desire to at least try and connect. I know I have to get over this because I have to work on converting people for the upcoming election, but how can women, ppl of color, immigrants, working middle class, gays, handicapped possibly be FOR those who hate and dismiss them their humanity. It leaves me so incredulous that I just walk away.
Right now the party stands for greed & division, anti-American, anti-working class. I’m still waiting for the sane ones to come forward.
/endRant
Right there with you LunarSea.. it is a struggle for me anymore to find common ground.
Translation: I voted like Mitch told me to vote. Collins is a trip.
Maybe this will help the Dem running for the Senate seat in Maine that Snowe vacates?
I hope so. Maine can do better
Talk about die hard supporters of President Obama…..waiting for his arrival in a blizzard!
Phew, landed:
Thanks so much for this, Chips!! {{{{WHEW}}}}
{{{{Have to admit I was nervous}}}}
I’m pretty confident that if that runway had not been safe, the plane would not have landed.
True Tien Le, it was just those earlier photos scared the livin’ daylights out of me.
YES! Of course we trust the AF1 crew, but those photos just freaked me out. Big sigh of relief.
Yep, they were scary.
Meeeeeee too!
Me too, I was nervous when I saw the runway but I don’t believe AF1 would have landed there if it were not deemed safe enough.
Whew is right!!!! Thanks Chipsticks for this positive report!!!
Were you one of the co-pilots?
Ha, no – I think it was Yardarm!
Oh well, then. That explains everything!! Smooooth sailing for all of us.
Yes sireee – that’s mighty precious cargo aboard AF1
Hey, what do you know, AF1 does skate.
Ha, it does amk!!!
PLUS SENIORS IN THERE…GOD LOVE EM’…ARE WE STILL WATCHING HIM AT 1:30? DIDN’T SEE IT ON THE SCHEDULE YOU HAVE!
OOPS…SORRY..NOW I SEE IT…THAT’S WHAT I GET FOR DRINING DECAF THIS MORNING…LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!
OMG they must be freaking kidding me. I’m glad he’s gone. One less hate monger to contend with. His heart probably couldn’t stand all the hate it was carrying.
Donna Brazile called him a genius. I understand reflecting upon the death of someone you knew, but there are some things I’ll never understand.
There is a fine line between genius and insanity … He was very troubled…
“There is a fine line between genius and insanity” precisely and he was over that line.
Donna Brazile is an idiot.
+1 itgurl.
What’s the with Brazile lately? Used to be the only sane on on CNN. I am sorry he died because I wanted him toose the lawsuit that Miss Sherrod has and pay for it over his lifetime. I also hope she can sue his estate but I doubt it.
I agree. One less hater makes the world a better place.
He was a very old looking 43. I thought he was at least 50 or older.
Jonah can’t even cry right. You can tell he has no feelings for him. A real Ebenezer Scrooge, ol Andrew was. I love how they are trying to wax poetic about he had four kids and a wife and all of this, like I’m suddenly supposed to feel sorry for him. He didn’t think of that whenever people like Ted Kennedy died or when he sullied Shirley Sherrod’s name. I’m sorry, why am I supposed to follow the rules of respect with a person who had no respect. The best I could say about him is that he died, he’s dead, and he ain’t living no more. Thats it.
Wow, Senator Patty Murray didn’t waste any time getting this message out about the Blunt Amendment. Nicely done…..
DSCC Hits GOP Senators On Blunt Amendment Votes
The DSCC issued a statement from chair Sen. Patty Murray, going after Republican Senators who voted in favor of the Blunt Amendment to allow employers to deny coverage of medical care that violates their religious or moral beliefs. Their email pointed specifically to votes in favor of the amendment for Scott Brown (R-MA) who is running for reelection against Elizabeth Warren and Dean Heller (R-NV) who is running against Rep. Shelley Berkley:

Mitt Romney: ‘I Like All The Amendments’ |
Apparently taking a lesson from the Sarah Palin School of Awkward Answers, Mitt Romney told a rally attendee concerned about gun rights in North Dakota this morning that he likes “all the amendments.”
The crowd chuckled, and Romney went on to say that he’ll defend the First and Second Amendments, and the other 24 too, it seems.
—
Someone tell Mitt there are 27 Amendments to the Constitution….or is there one he just wants to ignore ?
POOR PBO…SMILIN’ IN THE SUN…THEN OFF TO A BLIZZZZARD! YOWZA!

Oh my….crazy Louie ” terror babies ” Gohlmert….
Ah, I couldn’t put a name on the Frankenstein face, but I knew it was someone who made my stomach churn – thanks Linda!
This is the same bunch that refused to give tribute to Seal Team Six. I think I am going to be sick to my stomach.
+ 1,000,000,000
jeebus, he was not a fucking saint. He was a trash peddler for fucksake. Are the stupid dems in it too ?
Now that is just sickening. I’ve avoided saying anything nasty.. but what a load of hooey.. to memorialize someone in our Congress who went out of their way to harm others.. who literally hated liberals, dems, people of color. It goes to show that good judgement is not necessary to be a member of the House.
Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr:

President Obama walks over to greet people after arriving in the snow at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport
More snowy pics added!
Hat, gloves, and a scarf would be nice here Mr President!
I’m thinking the same thing.
yes, a hat for sure… and yet while thinking that I realized I never wear a hat either when it’s snowing.. but I do at least wear gloves & scarf.
And boots too.
Wow, what weather, come home soon Pres. Obama. It’s 65 degrees and sunny in Bethesda. Sasha is probably out in the sun enjoying recess right now.
83 and sunny, blue skies here in Miami. Great beach weather
27 degrees here. Perfect weather.
oh, yeah, it’s 27 C.
The man has the IT factor! He is just “cool like that”
I can’t get that song out of my head now
Heads up everyone:
