Good Night desertflower. I am with you on Rachel. She made my heart move faster than one of my attacks, so I had to let her go when she got on POB about the parade thing. She pisses me off when she goes on about it. I wish she would let it rest and honor the call of the Pentagon and POB . He shared with Bob Woodruff last evening his feelings when Bob asked the question of him. I respect his decision and the Pentagon’s.
She could really get the viewers that she wants, if she had taken her call into another level of how we all could respect our troops’ returning.This could be “A Country Showing Appreciation.” Then when all is home, we can have a parade.
I could see towns and cities all over the country having a “date night” for our troops and their spouse. Invite our local eateries in each state to donate their restaurants, lounges, music halls, theaters, concert halls to open up for one night with everything on the house. Then her viewers could donate a dinner, movie tickets and dinner, basketball game and dinner, broadway show and dinner, Sunday Brunch with family, town picnics with town and city halls sponsoring the food and entertainment for a weekend.
Beauty salon and spa treatments for family, carpenters, plumbers, electricians, cable companies, donating repair service for homes that have been neglected because of spouses were not able to be home to make some much needed repairs. Gutter cleaners service donated. Companies donated shopping sprees for clothing for the families for the spring. Some families may need a new automobile to get around, so have car dealers go in together and give out a limited number of cars for those needed families.
Sat. breakfasts and a gift from their our local hardware stores, local Macy’s to get a gift for the house, bed and bath gift baskets for their homes, furniture stores donating a home furnishing piece, local water companies picking up a two three month water or gas bill, grocery stores donating 250.00 dollars of groceries for a year, a car mechanic repair for a family car of at least 500.00, a retailer donating home appliances for the families, etc. School supplies and bookstores donating books and supplies for a year to each family. Enrollments for students in a sport, a year of piano lessons, dance lessons, healthy cooking classes from famous chefs a duration of time, donating musical instruments and lessons for 1 full year to children who have not been able to do so because mom or dad were away fighting for us.
Anything that would lighten the load for the family readjusting into the family’s home again with new and durable goods and services. Cleaning service for a home for a month. Phone service for at least two months, a computer for the family with internet service for a year. And the list could go on and be generous. These brave men and women were generous with their lives in their commitment to keep us safe. It may sound way out there, but nothing is way out there when you put your life on the line over and over in duties daily for all of us. Really., Yes, really.
She is smart and many times good, but she is too ‘in your face’ on this one,and I do not like that type of attitude. It gets on my nerves. I just want her to back off. Encourage a nation to get involved at this point to help and give back where it really counts. Then we can all step back and have our wonderful parade for all of our service/men/women when they All are finish.HZ

I have been given the opportunity to be in some very special places in my lifetime, but I always like the non-attention in these matters. This is fantastic! A parade is a nice idea, and it will happen when the troops say it should happen. But these suggestions from HZ will actually help the troops, and will last longer than a parade. And they won’t need to actually march… I’m definitely in for getting the word out – what fantastic and impressive and heartwarming ideas. I think these acts would actually make the troops and their families feel appreciated.

Doing great but super busy. I have home-work coming out the wazoo! I have tests, essays, trying to get into research work again so I’m applying with a couple of professors to be a research assistant – since I’ve done it before and loved it – so I can add that to my college resume, volunteering, and on and on and on. Whew!

Let’s see went to the phone bank last night – many people so enthusiastic for PBO but isn’t it true it’s always the one that sticks in your head that is “disappointed”. He wanted to be in his own ‘PBO didn’t get to my personal list fast enough’ world. So I thanked him for his support (cuz he’s still going to vote for him) and said goodnight.
Other than that things are looking up! I saw Judith F had made a comment asking me where I am team leading a few posts back – st paul mn judith. stuff is moving right along. I’m hoping I have more time to spend here and on twitter – I’ve been so freakin busy but I think that TOD and Twitter make for a good combo to push messages to people.

Why So Sloppy?
The Republican presidential campaign has been one of the sloppiest in memory.
Mitt Romney was declared the winner in Iowa until several days later miscounted votes were “found” which put Rick Santorum ahead. Romney was named the victor in Maine without all caucus votes counted because they were “lost” in someone’s email. Now, the Michigan delegate count was changed two days after the primary either due to sloppiness, ambiguity in the rules or a backroom power play.
It sure makes you wonder.

This is why they’re always calling ‘voter fraud’, because THEY do it. It’s always projection.
All the craziness going on in the GOP Primary contests makes me nervous with the voter suppression laws passed in so many GOP run states. I worry that election fraud will be rampant this time around, especially since those GOP Governors and congresses have been enacting these bills since they got dominance in 2010.

On March 16, 2011, I spoke to an industry group concerning the impact of speculative activity on commodity prices. Eleven months later, I’m still talking about it, and saying almost precisely the same thing. Speculators are necessary liquidity providers to our markets, and while they perhaps are not driving prices to uneconomic levels, they certainly have an effect on prices—above and beyond where they might otherwise go—and American consumers and taxpayers are shouldering that burden.
President Obama spoke about rising gas prices yesterday. You can’t turn on the television or the radio without hearing about record high gas prices, and yet the CFTC has not yet been able to implement Congressionally-mandated position limits to put the brakes on excessive speculation in oil and other commodity markets. Meanwhile, trade associations representing Wall Street interests have sued us in federal court in order to impede our imposition of position limits.
So, I find myself repeating—and repeating—the same message: it’s high time to kick it in gear and use the one tool we have to appropriately address high oil and gas prices.

When I mocked a droolingly ignorant column by CNS’ Craig Bannister suggesting women supporting a contraception coverage mandate were having too much sex, I felt a little cheap. Clearly, Bannister was some marginal antediluvian crank who only existed as link-bait for hard-pressed progressive bloggers who needed a easy post now and then.
Little did I know Rush Limbaugh would pick up the same bizarre line of attack and repeat it—nay, raise it to even higher levels of toxic absurdity—for (at least) two days. Given Rush’s status as He Who Must Be Obeyed on the right (remember then-Chairman of the RNC, Michael Steele, having to apologize to Limbaugh for daring diss him back in 2009?), we’re getting dangerously close to a moment when the “subsidizing sluts” argument for opposing the contraception mandate will become mandatory for the GOP presidential field.

In fact, what’s perhaps most interesting is the fact that Americans are significantly less apt to blame anybody for the high gas prices than they have been in the past. When the same question was asked in 2005 and 2006 as gas prices rose, Americans were much more prepared to play the blame game.
When gas prices rose in September 2005, 28 percent blamed President Bush, 36 percent blamed the oil companies, and 18 percent blamed Middle Eastern countries. Only 10 percent couldn’t find anyone to blame.
Today, despite gas prices being even higher than back then, those numbers have fallen significantly, and nearly one-quarter of Americans couldn’t muster anyone to blame.

Drat! That was coming, Donna, I had warnings about two copyright infringements, so one more and I was told I was gone – and this is it! The funny thing is that some music companies allow their songs be used in YouTube videos, they just put an ad for the song on iTunes beside it. The problem is it seems impossible to find out which companies allow their music to be used. So, I tested the Bruce Springsteen/’We Care Of Our Own’ video on my ‘unlisted’ channel and it was fine – the iTunes ad went beside it. So, then I moved it to TheObamaDiary channel and Sony wiped me out! Oh well.
Luckily I saved all the videos, I was expecting this, so I’ll start up a new channel over the weekend.

The US Postal Workers have to keep the post offices and their conduct while working politics free. Two of my local post office workers know of my involvement as I was so excited upon getting drawn for tickets to the Inauguration in ’09 that I blurted it out to anyone that would listen to me. They also had the knowledge of what mail I get and I get lots of Democratic groups in my mail as I contribute through mail and not on my computer. Also I gave the two postal workers their choice of Obama buttons during the Primary season. They went behind the shelves to choose and we quit any conversations when anyone else entered the building. When the postal deliverer entered a building this week I was sitting in the reception room. I was waiting for my tax appointment. She was delivering their mail then she used the restroom. Upon leaving she walked past me and leaned over to say, “Are you getting a new ringtone for your phone?” Right away I knew she was referring to PBO singing “Let’s Get Together” as I heard it had become a ring tone. I said I’m thinking about it and as she left she said she was too. We are on the same wavelength but talk in code as she is on orders not to be political during work hours. Hee hee

I had a day like that this week and it was awful, so I can understand a part of your feeling about your situation. I just cried, rocked, walked the floor and cried out in prayer, and called my best friend from college days to pray with me as well. It was a test for sure.
I prayed all day in my selective spaces within my home and surrounded myself with my music. It was very difficult, but while writing in my nightly journal from a book by a great spiritual writer, I found much peace. Sleep great, and next morning my space was clearer and peaceful. Try to make sure to clear your space with those things that help you to focus on the blessings of the past and how you got through the diffiiculties of the past. One of the advertisers on Rush Limbaugh’s popular conservative radio show Friday announced that it is pulling its ads in the wake of the host’s controversial “slut” comments this week.
“We don’t condone negative comments directed toward any group. In response, we are currently pulling our ads from Rush with Rush Limbaugh,” the company Sleep Train Mattress Centers announced on its Twitter account early Friday.

I don’t say this too often but, seriously, you might not want to watch this video if you don’t want to have nightmares. This is honestly the weirdest video I’ve seen in 2012. And I watch some weeeeeeeeird stuff during my non-work hours.
This morning, the Internet was going gaga for an adorable campaign ad for Republican Senate candidate from Rhode Island, Barry Hinckley, in which his five-year-old son Hudson explained economic problems to the camera. Sure, it might be a little weird to use a kid for political gain like that and, sure, Hudson was obviously scripted and, sure, those posters he was showing were obviously written by an adult pretending to have “kid” handwriting, but the ad was just so darn cute. However, the interview Hinckley and his son just did with Neil Cavuto wasn’t cute. It was just…unsettling.
Look, I don’t even need to talk about the uncomfortable, Balloon Boy-esque moment where Cavuto asks Hudson if he actually cares about the economy, the boy replies “no,” and Hinckley looks furious. That’s weird enough. But the only thing I can see during this segment is the fact that, every time Hudson talks, Hinckley MOUTHS EVERY WORD HE IS SAYING SIMULTANEOUSLY.

PBO is a wonderful human being. Sandra Fluke is on Mitchell Reports and she was near tears as she talked about PBO’s call. He called expressing concern for her well being after Limbaugh verbally abused her, he told her he was proud of her, that she was a wonderful human being, that her parents must be very proud of her, and he also thanked her for standing up for women. Wow. Just wow. This is another reason why I not only love him as a President but also as a human being. He always highlights our better nature.
