He was asked about the jobs numbers at least twice today by two different reporters and he ignored them both and said nothing. So, I assume he had to find out from his handlers what to say, thus this lying statement. As horrible as this primary has been, you can’t deny it has truly been a revelation and for that the American people should be grateful. I did not know that Williard would be such a horrible candidate. I guess he wasn’t in the race long enough in 2008 for all his dirty laundry and utter weirdness to be revealed.
The 8% unemployment comment was made prior to actually getting into office by a consultant not PBO. Then when the administration actually got into office the figures they had been given earlier were wrong then readjusted to reflect a much worse scenario. It had to do with a 9 instead of a 3 that they had been told. Shows how much went over my head when I heard it explained by Ezra Klein on Rachel Maddow yesterday. The GOP have been condemning this administration ever since PBO took office over the comment of 8%. They also have been saying it as if PBO made the prediction himself. They infer that because the prediction was off the stimulus failed and the administration failed. Romney doesn’t even infer he straight out says it.
I have said it before and I will say it again, I have never seen a President take such a genuine interest in the things he is being shown when he visits a place, be it a plant, a laboratory, a school, a military installation, wherever. He really wants to learn about things. That is part of what drives the response of people when he comes. They can see this isn’t just a “I guess I have to do this” type of thing.
He’s not faking it. He’s genuinely interested in what people are doing. He’s not just “grits and y’all” – ing for the people’s vote.

Until Sunday. Hawaii doesn’t have Daylight Savings Time, so when we all jump ahead this weekend, it’ll be a 5 hour difference between the East Coast and Hawaii.
right now, it’s 12:10, so after daylight savings, the difference becomes 4 hours–or maybe my head will explode and it will be zero hour!

Virginia’s Ultrasound Bill Violates Medical Association’s Guidelines |
Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell signed an unnecessary bill into law yesterday that will require women to receive an ultrasound before having an abortion. The legislature passed an amended version that did not require invasive transvaginal ultrasounds, but it still seems the new law runs counter to guidelines from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG).
As Forbes’ Rick Ungar points out, “According to the ACOG, ultrasonography in pregnancy should be performed only when there is a valid medical indication.” But the Virginia law says an ultrasound is necessary to determine the fetus’ gestational age — not a listed reason from ACOG. Instead of leaving it up to a doctor, the state of Virginia’s new law now dictates what is a required procedure.

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) has set up a legal defense fund for the “John Doe” investigation of his time as Milwaukee county executive that has already ensnared several of his former staffers.
The “John Doe” investigation has already resulted in charges against six of Walker’s top aides. The probe by the Milwaukee County district attorney’s office is reportedly focusing on whether staffers who worked for Walker did political work with taxpayer money.
Wisconsin Democratic Party Chair Mike Tate responded by saying that Walker is the first governor to ever need a criminal defense fund.
Mitt Romney mocked the director of a documentary released by President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign this week.
Calling the film, which has a trailer narrated by Tom Hanks, a “17-minute infomercial,” Romney hit back at director Davis Guggenheim’s claims that he couldn’t find fault with the president. Guggenheim told Piers Morgan on Thursday that, “The negative for me was there were too many accomplishments. I have 17 minutes to put them all in there.”
“I’m in awe of him,” Guggenheim said of Obama.
“Well, I have some suggestions for the president and the producer,” Romney said at a rally. “First of all, talk to the 24 million Americans that are out of work or underemployed in this country. … I’ll tell you, I’ve got a long list of people for that producer to talk to, and I’ll tell you, if someone’s looking for things that the president’s done wrong, it’s a long, long, long list.”

Missouri House Advances Nondiscrimination Protections — For Gun Owners |
The state of Missouri has no laws that protect LGBT people from employment or housing discrimination, but yesterday the Missouri House advanced a new nondiscrimination bill that protects gun owners. Were the law to pass, it would ensure that anyone who legally carries a firearm cannot be fired, denied benefits, or otherwise discriminated against for that choice.
Rep. Mike Colona (D), who is openly gay, pointed out that “what this body has done is put protecting gun ownership above discriminating against somebody because of their sexual orientation, and I just don’t think that’s right.”

Oh great, Willard’s superpac buys close to a million bucks worth of ad time here in Illinois. We have been mostly lucky the last few years—-no one even bothered us the last election in Obama’s home state. Sickening—all this limitless amount of money spent on continuous negative ads. Not good for anything.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission on Friday authorized staff to issue beefed-up safety requirements for U.S. nuclear power plants, the first new rules issued in response to the disaster at Japan’s Fukushima Daiichi power plant.
NRC Chairman Gregory Jaczko praised the decision to issue three post-Fukushima orders, but warned that the commission most continue working to implement the entirety of the safety reforms put forward by a federal task force last year. The orders represent the “highest-priority” recommendations of the task force, according to the commission.
“The Commission has taken a significant step forward on our post-Fukushima efforts,” Jaczko said in a statement.
“These Orders reflect a tremendous effort on the part of the NRC staff to produce this comprehensive package in an expedited manner. As always, I continue to be thoroughly impressed by the staff’s dedication. Of course, there’s still a great deal of work ahead of us.”
