Here’s a preview of my new piece on TPV, which should be up tomorrow morning.
In the Roman Forum once stood the Temple of Janus. Janus is the two-faced god—one facing forwards, one backwards—from which we get the word “January”. This temple was central to the ideology of the Roman Empire. During times of war, the doors to the temple stood open; during times of peace, they were shut. From the time of the semi-legendary King Numa, who built the temple, until the reign of Augustus, Rome’s first emperor, the doors to the temple were shut only twice. The Roman state was in a condition of perpetual war. From the time of Augustus until the adoption of Christianity and the abeyance of the ritual, the gates of Janus were shut only a handful of times more. Almost-constant war was the natural state of the empire.
I recall this almost-forgotten part of Roman history as our 11-year-long Afghan War claims more innocent victims. In the class of “victim” I include the accused soldier. The investigation will provide more information, but we have to wonder how many tours of duty he’s served, how long he’d been close to the breaking point, and what finally drove him over the edge into psychosis and murder. Every soldier who returns wounded, mentally as well as physically, is a victim of our own version of perpetual war.
From various reports appears he had 3 tours in Iraq & 1 in Afghanistan.
What Bush, Cheney & the other #NEOCONSTERS did to our Republic is so vastly harmful that it will decades if not longer to recover – and then only if no future American President starts an illegal war, totally unnecessary war.
This is brilliant, LL. Perpetual war saps a nation’s every strength, including– finally–it’s sanity. We don’t have a vast Roman empire from which to recruit and conscript an endless army of soldiers. We ask the same people to go to war over and over and over again until they have nothing left to give. Our president will steer us toward a gradual withdrawal, beginning early this summer. He knows the cost of war and feels every casualty, every loss of life and every calamity deeply in his heart. He’s our last and best defense against the cries of war from every corner about Iran.
NEED TO KNOW: Who at TOD lives in Georgia, besides me? I really want to go to an OFA EVENT, but can’t find one in my area. I have gone the OFA website, but of the two showing activity in my area, one was a dud, the other is a private residence. I am looking for an OBAMA office like the one in LA.
I Have tried to contact the one in Atlanta several times, and have received no response.
Hi Eveingeorgia,
I live in Carrollton–about 45 minutes west of downtown Atlanta. I believe Dudette also lives in Georgia. I think somewhere around North Metro and and Magii (sp) who I believe lives near or around Macon. I lurk more than I write, but like you I have searched for volunteer offices–Let me know what you discover.
I know!! I was lurking here around MLK day and saw your info about your aunt being in the MLK parade. My daughter is a reporter for the local paper and covered the parade. I told her to look for your Aunt and do a write up about her. Unfortunately the photographer did not get a photo but I believe my daughter did meet her. Had there been a photo article, I had planned to surprize you with the link to the paper.
OMGoodness! I go there every year at Labor Day for a week vacation and I’ve placed several birthday greetings for my Aunt in the Carrollton-Georgia Times!!!
That was kind of you to think of us – thank you Diane
Evening all… On FaceTime with daughter in Philippines…. These photos of PBO tear my heart. I love him so much, votives burning, prayers in continuous motion. Thank you everyone. Thank you, Chips.
Wait up now. E’erbody placin’ orders makes me think we got some hungries out there. I ain’t got no salmon or cheese or any other such as that. You get salt, pepper, and a pat o’ butter. If you’re nice I might do ham and red-eye gravy.
Yardarm, that’ll work nicely, sir. Thank you very much. Hey, in my house growing up, grits with sugar, butter and milk was breakfast on many a day. Grits with salt, pepper red eye gravy made a side dish for dinner. And yes, I’ve even had grits and a hotdog for lunch.
Father, thank You again, for guiding, guarding and protecting President Barack Obama. Thank You for keeping his mind steady and his heart strong. Thank You for protecting that wonderful spirit of his. Thank You for giving him continued wisdom in everything that he is doing for our great country. And lastly, Sir, thank You in advance for is reelection. In JesuName. Amen.
vitaminlover, Let me say Amen also, and might I add, thank you Heavenly Father for watching over the President’s family , keeping them safe and sound and there for each other. Amen.
Yes, cheese grits are popular, but remember Robney said “cheesy” grits, he doesn’t know, and those aren’t cheesy.
I love that picture of the President at the top. He knows how to find that inner center and eliminate all the noise and clutter. One reason I admire him so much. He is a whole person…..one who is completely integrated and together. Perfect example of Maslow “self-actuated” person if ever I saw one!
He is in prayer and deep meditation, despite people all around him, no privacy. He is asking for guidance, strength and help to do what is right and just. In the trailer when VPBiden said it dawned on him that PBO was all alone, then they showed him standing at the window of the Oval Office, I thought, yes, he is, but our love and support are all around him, and I believe on some level he knows that. I believe he draws strength from us. So, we keep him in our thoughts and prayers, and we help him in that way. It is a lot of force for good.
If I said I have never actually eaten grits, despite being born and raised in Maryland, would you guys all boycott my presence on TOD? You wouldn’t let them do that, would you Chips? Yikes, what am I saying?? Still, reading all a y’all’s comments, I think maybe I have been missing out all my life! My parents were Yankees.
Just want to add…Shrimp and Grits are da bomb! You can Google a bunch of recipes – small variations in how they season the shrimp, but the shrimp and some onion are the main thing on top of those grits!
Sandy1110, Yardarm756, Pamfrom Calif, and Pamela, we all will have to have a brunch on one of our ‘meet ups’ and have some grits. But yardarm756, I love my grits (rarely now) with lots of butter with eggs over easy all mixed together. Oh, my goodness, that is tasty.
You can buy them on the westcoast the Quick Grits and try to cook them in milk instead of water, and you will have them very creamy.
After all of my battery of tests, now I am going to have some grits, just a little.
Have I told you all how much I love you all lately. Well, here goes: (((( I Love My TOD Family soooooooooooooo much)))) HZ
Pamela – I had grits for the first time two years ago, and loved them! Tried them a second time, and not so much because they weren’t cooked very well. I’d try Yardarm’s grits, though. They sound delicious!
The challenge to President Barack Obama’s health care reform law will result in the court either upholding it — giving bragging rights to Obama and congressional Democrats — or finding major pieces of it unconstitutional, setting off a political earthquake that would vindicate Republicans and conservative groups.
Both sides will start to lay the groundwork for that ruling during six hours of oral arguments, which will spread over three days beginning March 26. And when that ruling comes down, probably in June, the winners will try to make it sound like the final word.
I can’t see that Republicans will be vindicated, especially when people start to see their benefits being taken away from them, and the deficit explodes. I don’t think the GOP have thought this through.
When the U.S. Supreme Court takes up the Affordable Care Act later this month, it will not be the first to consider its constitutionality.
Congress carefully weighed its authority in writing the law. And a majority of lower-court judges who have ruled on it, including some of the leading conservatives on the bench, have agreed that it’s constitutional. In fact, it was Reagan appointee Laurence Silberman who declared last year that challenges to the law have no support “in either the text of the Constitution or Supreme Court precedent.”
WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign is trying to make some bucks off March Madness with its own version of the NCAA Tournament office pool.
It’s called “The Obama Bracket Challenge.” Visitors to Obama’s campaign website, BarackObama.com, are invited to pick the winners of each tournament matchup.
They lost me on the first log in! I would help them lose, nothing more, nothing less! Best for me to pass on this one, but did buy up a lot more campaign stuff to hand out as I move along!
Totally OT…..but something light…..have you ever had the experience of buying one new item for your house…..or New to you, like from an estate or garage sale, bringing it m, then having to rearrange and clean everything for that one thing?????
I did this weekend….bought a beautiful hand needlepointed chair at an estate sale….then had to rearrange other pieces, actually took one piece to the garage which I will donate to a church thrift shop, then CLEANED!!! Felt really good, and the new piece is a jewel.
Oh, yes! Carolyn, this is a wonderful activity, and it is always creative.. Regenerative. Sometimes even inspires stuff that has been around for too long and lost its energy to leave the domicile! Last fall, right before I left for Australia, I found a beautiful bronze cast of the Tibetan Bodhisattva of Compassion, Avalokiteshvara. It was sitting high in a shelf, I only noticed it as I was about to pay, said WHOA, hang on! Ran around and lifted it down, it weighs 4.2lbs, stunning! $8.00. Took it home, did some research online, and while it is not an antique, or rare, it came to me, in a manner of speaking, and it seemed to be an affirmation of the work I am currently doing, I surely enjoyed rearranging everything and cleaning up all around to make a proper place for this statue. I wish I could show it to you all.
Carolyn, I know that feeling. Thanks for sharing with us. Allowing us to pause and appreciate what you just experienced in your space. I felt your joy just in reading your words, and as I was lying here looking at the pillows on two of the chaise lounges in my bedroom, I got up and moved a couple of pillows to another space. It actually lifted my spirits and to have the candles burning in that room brought on a peacefulness in my space. Thank you dear angel, Carolyn.
After seeing the photo that Chipstick posted of POB on front, I was moved to a quiet moment and into a prayerful space for him, so that is one reason the candles were lit.
Then I felt moving the pillows were like “a spiritual act” of trying to help him with my energy to move in the direction of God’s angels of peace, grace, wisdom, and faith to move with the intellect that God has given him. Being in thoughts of meditation, quiet thoughts with God,I asked God for the peaceful and humble energy to help POB make the right decisions for all in the situation, and that he will receive that peace. He will make it through all of this with all of our great energy of good thoughts.
I had just walked out of the music room after reading from scripture, Ps. 37 entirely. Those words gave me strength, hope, and promise in faith that we will get through all of this with POB. Goodnight, Chips and my beautiful TOD Family.((((((((Hugs and Strength coming our way))))))))HZ
Yep, HF, a Romney friendly county will be held until the last and then release votes that will put him over the top. The establishment has spoken and the others are being pushed out of the way.
Okay, my one day long weekend, shortened by the clock change, and having to do 2 weeks worth of housekeeping has plum wore me out. Now Yardarm has me hankering for grits, and I am too tired to do anything more. Up at 5, will check in, but methinks another long week is ahead! Still, I am blessed with work I love and have an aptitude for. Soo, thank you everyone, and goodnight. Sweet dreams. May God Bless our President and keep him safe, granting him restful sleep and clear vision when he wakes.
I will, Diane, and thanks for the help, Snoopy. I have tried these. I’m beginning to think that Georgia is too red, therefore too dangerous for an official OFA office. Maybe I’m paranoid, but in my area, nobody outwardly talks about voting for PBO, they just do it.
I think we are all sensitive to the possibility of confrontation if we speak too loudly. Sometimes I hate the south.
I know exactly what you mean Eve. The day after I put my 2012 bumper sticker on my car, my car door was keyed! I wonder if Georgia has been written off too. I know that four years ago our “official” Obama leader in my area was pulled and sent to Florida in the last few months of the campaign. Florida is a more important state than Georgia (delegate count), and there are some huge nut jobs here–but there are many of us that love this President too. So take heart and know you aren’t alone I am here too.
Eve, there are lots of things you can do on your own, such as registering voters and making phone calls on line through OFA. Your local Democratic Party will have the list of Democrats in your precinct that you can contact to build enthusiasm and support. Sometimes Dems living in red areas just have to know there are others like them to feel empowered. Every local party will give you a walking list of Dems so you can canvass. Call the Georgia state Democratic Party and ask what you can do to help. In our area in 2008, we did not have a serious OFA presence until June. And then we went like gangbusters.
So. I was pretty down and depressed today because of the news from Afghanistan and have stayed very quiet. But to distract myself tonight I was searching for articles about gardening. Well, entirely by accident I came across this wonderful piece on Karen Washington who started a neighborhood urban garden in New York. So about halfway through the article she starts to talk about President Obama and how things were in Harlem on election night, and then she talks about going to meet Michelle Obama to be recognized for her work bringing food to urban areas. The way she talks about nature and the bees and summertime gave me a lazy sleepy peaceful feeling. And the whole piece was so delightful and unexpected, because I was really just looking for a display of potted plants. I had to bring it here. Now I am going to bed and I hope that some of you enjoy it like I did.
I wonder what wonderful thoughts are going on during his pensive moments? I hope , if only for a moment, he can have complete peace!!
God bless our wise, sensitive, thoughtful and highly intelligent President. He is thinking when we are all sleeping.
And Mississippi is Gingrich 33, Romney 31, Santorum 27, Paul 7. Looks like we might be in for a long night Tuesday…— PublicPolicyPolling (@ppppolls) March 12, 2012
I thought Santorum was allegedly supposed to win both States.
And now, Robney is winning? Oh, Tuesday is going to be the Crowning of Mutt Robney!
And btw all that pressure McSame and Graham puts on this President about Not leaving Afghanistan etc! It’s designed to intimidate him.
Apparently, the Republicans and the media ate mad at this President for even announcing a withdrawal date.
Now, they say that timetable is in jeopardy, as in, it’s going to be longer not shorter.
Good grief!
Beltway two step!
One week until I have my total knee replacement surgery. I’m really nervous about it as I have not had major surgery before. Anyway I like to think about all of you as family so please keep some positive thoughts and prayers for me on the 19th. Thanks
Let not your heart be troubled, Obama Grandmama, thank God that His Hand will be guiding that surgeon’s hand and that you come through with flying colors.
My sister had knee replacement surgery. Before the surgery she couldn’t walk without a lot of pain. She had to get a wheelchair at the airport. That did it for her. Now she’s fine. Just do your rehab, religiously.
All the best to you, Obama Grandmama! I’ve got a real good feeling about your surgery and healing and recovery. We’ll all be thinking about you, I’m sure.
Obama Grandmama, I have you in our “,TOD Family Prayer and Meditation Candle Room,” and that means prayers and good thoughts will be coming from my home to yours. Be gentle in your space with hope and healing thoughts.(((((Hugs)))))HZ
You have it, OG. I’m sure you’ll come through with flying colors and will walk better than ever in a short while. Remember when you go in for the surgery that a lot of people are pulling for you.
OG, I have known many people who have had successful knee replacement surgery. As Sabreen said, do the rehab faithfully, you will not regret your decision, and soon will be pain free. Will be thinking of you on the 19th!
Hello to all T.O.D. readers. My name is Luke from Portland and I am writing in behalf of my girlfriend Jo Ann who is an avid reader of this blog. See, while she reads The Obama Diaries faithfully every day and knows most of you (at least by name) she is hesitant to come on and post. Could everyone on the board please give a rousing hello and welcome to Jo Ann? It would make my day and would put a big smile on her face.
Hopefully she will then become a contributing member of your little community and leave me alone as she loves to keep me informed of all of the goings on, even though I don’t listen half of the time………just kidding honey.
hello Jo Ann from Portland, please come out of the “shadows” and join us.
Please declare your self publicly as your dear Luke has already outed you!! remember Jo Ann, President Obama could be reading your post and taking strength from it to keep his resolve and eye on the prize of World Peace and socio-economic equality for all
Hi Jo Ann from Portland!! Please feel free to share your ideas on the blog. And you may want to reintroduce yourself again tomorrow (or have your kind boyfriend do it again), when more people are online. I’m sure you’ll get a proper welcome then.
Luke – That was funny! Welcome, Jo Ann! Hope to see you here all year, until the election – okay, and then for four more years, if we’re lucky enough to keep Chips at the helm throughout “our” second term!
Hi Jo Ann from Portland. Welcome. Please join us. We are a great family as you can see. We love Chipsticks, and we also have total respect for each other as we share and support POB. I am hoping that you will come on and join us, we would love to have you.
Please do come on tomorrow as stated by Theo67, most of the family have retired for the evening, so please come in again tomorrow where you can get a great welcome for the TOD Family.
We love our beautiful site, and we would certainly welcome you. Thank you Luke for sharing with us.HZ
Welcome Luke and Jo Ann…so glad that you are lurking, learning, and loving the TOD. We look forward to you to making comments, letting us know what’s happening in Portland. Is that Portland, Oregon or Maine?
Hellooooooooooooooooooo Jo Ann. What a nice boyfriend you have to do this for you. Come on board Chica. The more Obamacrats/Obamabots we have, the better it is for conversation and dialogue. We’re curious to hear your opinions and we welcome you to the TOD family. Please reintroduce yourself when you finally decide to come onboard so we can give you another rousing welcome.
p.s. Luke, you’re more than welcome to come onboard too.
Good Morning Jo Ann and Luke,
I am also an addicted lurker here, and only occasionally post.
This is such an intelligent community, I rarely have anymore to contribute. However on the rare occasion that I do, the entire family here is warm and generous.
I’m going back to lurking now, but I just wanted to add my welcome.
Gamg, you have a lot to contribute because your opinion counts. Even if you think you don’t have anything earth shattering to say, we all draw comfort from each other and every contribution, no matter how tiny at first, makes us all feel better. Please, please comment.
Luke, you’re a kind and considerate boyfriend, but you might consider commenting here yourself as we’re in for an exciting year and this is the single best source of information on the web. I, for one, would love to hear from Jo Ann. If she comes here everyday, she must have a lot to say and I really look forward to hearing her opinion. Every voice is equal.
JoAnn, your Luke is a rascal! Little does he know that once you are done with the lurking phase, you will grow a new life (!) and before long h will be begging you to talk to him, to tell him what is going on, as in “honey why are you over there laughing hysterically, and when will I ever see you again?”. So, don’t wait too long, we embrace you, and Luke too, if he wants to keep up with what he started!
And the whole enchilada goes to MIttens, because that is how it’s been foredained. The GOP masters have spoken. By the way, has anyone heard whether Robmey has finished consulting his weather vanes and come up with a comment on Afghanistan? Guess he’s still focus testing it.
The bad news for Mitt Romney (and the media/Rove, etc know it) is that he’s only winning in states where Obama is already beating him by double digits. He’s losing in states where PBO does not expect to win, which means that Robney has his work cut out for him in the south. And to answer your question, no Robney hasn’t commented and won’t comment until the MSM gives him the green light on what to say and when he can say it.
two words on the photo: pure serenity!!!! oh and to add 4 other words: I LOVE this photo!!
when and where was this title photo of President Obama taken? I thought I has seen all his photos that are in public domain but this is a new one for me. simply deep
Best wishes to you. I had the surgery in ’07. I know many people who have it with great results. Wishing the best for you. The six weeks in rehab is okay. (Physical Therapy is not a picnic, but work with it. PT is what brings you back!
I read a lot. If I had had TOD back then, I would have been in heaven.
JoAnn from Portland, come on and join us. I’m sort of a lurker – I comment occasionally- but it’s a great family. You are treated real well here. Chips is the best!
Thank you again our beloved Chips. You always give us so much to be grateful for on our beautiful site. What a wonderful haven to come to.
I was able to let go of some of the pain because I was able to lie here and read today.
Chips, I thank you, love all of the hard work that you do for us here, and how you stay on top of everything to keep this a beautiful site to come to each day. You are such a beautiful spirit, Chips. (((((((Hugs to you))))))))HZ
Goodnight, TOD Family, and may each of you have a restful evening. Love you all back so very much.
Prepare for a ton of negative press tomorrow. Not only because of what happened in Afghanistan, but ABC/Washington Post just released their poll and Romney now beats Obama by two (after trailing by six last month) and Obama has a record high negative rating when it comes to handling the economy. It’s all tied to the gas prices.
The only poll that matters is the one on Nov 6, and if the American electorate isn’t prepared to overwhelmingly vote for President Obama, the only man actually qualified and dedicated to run this country and put the people of this country first, then God help America and the world.
Yep, the only poll that matters is the poll that is going to be the final poll. 2008 the line was long went; took us two hours to get in. This time I know it will take longer because more young people qualified to vote. Not worried at all.
well, qouting this negative poll has already started and fox headlines are screaming: ‘President Obama down in polls’ (like they have multiple numberss!!
Are you still giving any credibility to these propaganda polls? The media (and the Republicans) have not had a good past two weeks. Turnout at the Republican primaries have been low while the uncontested Dem primaries show DEM voters solidly behind president Obama. The jobs reports on Friday were great, the Breitbart “bombshell” video was a DUD, Rush Limbaugh saw his radio show lose advertisers faster than you can say “Rush,” John Boehner was made to look like a fool that he is and women (including moderate Republicans) have been leaving the GOP in droves.
So what does the MSM do? Well, it’s exactly what they normally do whenever President Obama has had a winning streak – that is to manufacture polls that put him in a negative light, or to use whatever event that occurs (e.g., Afghanistan shooting) to make it about him and what that means for his election.
ANY poll about PBO in March 2012 – whether he’s 2 points or 20 points down is NO cause for panic.
All tied to gas prices, forget everything that Mitt Romney stands for. Romney could stand for hanging woman who have a abortion, but because of gas prices people will vote for him. That makes no dam sense at all. Americans better used some dam sense, if they have any.
It doesn’t make sense because it’s manufactured garbage by the pollsters and their corporate masters who pay them to push those polls.
One of us (TODers – I believe it was dotster) posted here yesterday that this weekend they received a call from a polling outfit which immediately ended the call once they realized that he/she was a Democrat/Obama supporter. While the poster concluded that it may have had something to do with the GOP primaries, I’m not so sure. I do believe that they slant their sampling to give an intended result at various times. And right now they can get away with it and spin the results any which way they want (e.g., say it’s because of gas prices) because the elections are far off and no one will know that they were skewing the polls.
it is no secret that many in the political class and regular punditry think that they are better than President Obama and they need to bring him down because they believe he has refused to become one of them in the political elite.
the media also needs a close election in order to make a ton of money so they will do everything in their power to pump up the numbers of that serial liar romney
This is what I’m talking about. A week or so ago it was Gallup with some ridiculous poll number. Now it’s ABC’s turn. Romney beats The President based on what? How many Republicans did they have to stack the deck with to get that number?
Next week it will be Rasmussen’s turn. After that NBC etc, etc and then back to Gallup. They want a horse race. Not going to happen.
turned on ABC’s Good Morning America and guess what the first topic was – the President’s poll numbers from their one poll. Incredible that they put this ahead of the tragic incident from Afghanistan!!!! I promptly turned off this garbage.
I think this is one of those times when we can point out to the ABC media how ridiculous this is
Mika on Morning Joe also lead with a poll of how many Americans want to stay in Afghanistan or leave NOW!!!!! The media don’t seem to understand that this is not time for BS poll taking. A horrific tragedy occurred and all they see is how to get the best 30 second sound byte. Disgusting.
Everything that happens in framed in the media as to how it will affect PBO’s re-election in November. EVERYTHING. And it’s time we start calling them out and shaming them. I wrote about this poll yesterday and I predicted that’s exactly the MSM’s newest anti-Obama talking point – that we all want to get out of Afghanistan yesterday, while he’s keeping the troops there and forcing them to fight. Once I saw Newt Gingrich immediately put out a statement about getting out of Afghanistan while Romney kept silent (with no mention of him in the media), I realized what this was all about.
That’s why I kept saying to the people who were posting that “we should get out of Afghanistan ASAP” that they are just playing right into the hands of the GOPers and undermining the President with this nonsense. He cannot and will not “get out of Afghanistan ASAP.” There is a plan in place and he’s going to execute that plan.
And I don’t care who accuses me of RW conspiracies – I stand by everything I said yesterday. You should have seen some of the RW blog comments, cheering on the killings. I’m not going to post them here but they were just sickening, vile, disgusting. Rush Limbaugh’s hate speech is being aired daily on the AFR and people don’t want to consider the possibility that there may be connection? Oh please.
The time change messed me up today….Was Steve Schmidt on Morning Joe ? I thought I saw him at the table as they were going to commercial..but when it came back …Tina Brown was there.
I am curious to hear what he has to say about the movie…..To me…he came across as the worst one in the campaign for allowing it to go on with Palin as the VP choice by hiding her inability to learn anything.
Schmidt thought the movie was very accurate. To me his most significant comment was in response to a question by Mrs Greenspan if the half term governor was now qualified as a serious political figure. He said no because she has learned nothing and that her bitterness is too divisive for the country. He also commented that the John Edwards nomination as VP candidate was also a failure of our system. The interview with Schmidt was good.
i saw some of that interview before leaving for work this morning…i had not planned to watch game change….but i just might now….interesting is that Steve Schmidt seemed level headed to me…but the exerps from the movie show him as a lil eractic….that seemed to clash with his TV personna…as shown on MSNBC….so tell me Bill…did you think this as well…
Santorum may be the most disgusting, dishonest candidate ever. He is on the Today Show spouting lie after lie, every sentence more ridiculous than the last, as Ann Curry is carefully and respectfully calling him SENATOR Santorum. He said that President Obama’s reactions to the horrible incidents in Afghanistan make everything worse (after Koran burning) and that announcing a timeline for leaving is aiding the enemy. Is he accusing PBO of treason? All former war hawks are all of a sudden as dovey as can be and are all jumping in to say we need to get out of Afghan. now because they want to hang President Obama with the atrocities of this war. Santorum managed to link everything he said on every subject to a condemnation of President Obama. He has the character of a cockroach, if that.
This is what Robney says too, withdrawal, not so much.
It actually gives the President cover on the issue.
Msnbfox is all about leaving now! Disingenuous.
I guess the President needs to start the campaign earlier, because according to the latest poll, the Primary is actually helping Robney.
No Rhime or reason, just all Robney all the time.
People are being force fed!
So, Robney has 27% favorability numbers, and this Presudent has over 70 percent of people who like him, but yet Robney us ahead in the polls.
What dues this mean? Is their any rationale?
I don’t understand? You mean, the American public is going to give the election to the Republucans because of high gas prices???
Omg!!!

Robney has no minority support and is 17 points behind in the women vote.
But, the Press is telling us all, he is ahead of the President.
If that is true, he must be winning white makes by 75 points!!!
These are the constituencies that ABC/WaPo used to scream the headline about PBO’s poll numbers:
“The downshift is particularly notable among independents — 57 percent of whom now disapprove — and among white people without college degrees, with disapproval among this group now topping approval by a ratio of more than 2 to 1, at 66 versus 28 percent”
Scary, right? but wait!
At the end of the article, there is this:
“Obama’s team may take comfort, however, that, notwithstanding the tightness of the general-election race today, a majority of Americans now say they believe he will win reelection in November.
The general election gas not started yet, and OFA will start as planned, why should they bow to the media? It seems there is no repug candidate yet? Right?
Exactly. They are jumping the gun. Who is the President running against. For all you know anyone can jump ahead. Even Butterball G. or the purist S. Then Jeb of the Bush clan might parachute in at the convention and save the day. Bunch of poppy shows. Jamaican for puppet show!
Republican Congressman Walter Jones wants to impeach President Obama over his actions in Libya. House Concurrent Resolution 107 is his bill, which begins:
Expressing the sense of Congress that the use of offensive military force by a President without prior and clear authorization of an Act of Congress constitutes an impeachable high crime and misdemeanor under article II, section 4 of the Constitution.
And so it begins. Perhaps the resolution should be called the Sad Attempt To Get Republican Turnout Act. Obama Derangement Syndrome, America’s greatest untapped unnatural resource.
Some of you good people please drop by coldheartedtruth.com and help with the fight against the anti-Obamas there.
I (James-New-Leaf) and others need all the help we can get. Warning: Language not always nice.)
Good Evening everyone. Weekend zoomed by.

Hi Tally….where you been girl? Ah, I was so hoping you could join us. I will be on the westside due to a dental appointment I see Betsy will also be there. When the campagin heats up, I am hoping we can all meet, HZ has already suggested Pasadena…I am willing to host a gathering.
Hi JoJo,
I’ll be there on Thursday…….sooooo, what are we wearing?………:)
This picture is perfect. I trust my President.
So do I.
Yes, this is the President we’re so lucky to be living alongside these days.
Quietly, in stillness. Love to all of you.
Exactly. Hand wringing after all PBO has done to earn our vote, after all his accomplishments is a waste of my precious time.
Beautifully said, utaustinliberal! As usual!
So do I. I trust him to do the best he can with the crap sandwich he was served.
Good evening Ms Chips & friends,

Also, in support of our President …

Let’s Get It Done
We lost one of hr sleep today! Don’t worry friends – we will make it up the weekend after PBO’s re-election this year.
Evening everyone.
Here’s a preview of my new piece on TPV, which should be up tomorrow morning.
And congrats on first, GB!
LL, wow. Just that excerpt is outrageously thought provoking. Thanks for giving us your special sauce as food for thought.
Looking forward to reading the full essay, LL.
#PRESSON
Small world Diane, my 95 year old aunt and many of my cousins live in Carrollton!
Hi Eve and Diane,
I’m not from GA…
But, I hope this helps you. By the way, are you on Twitter and/or Facebook?

Phew! Fresh air. That last thread was a bit much. Howdy y’all. Anybody want some grits?
Got any salmon to go with ‘em? Love me some salmon and grits!
Yes, last thread was too much. I was lurking.
Me too, collegekay, last two threads… That one about the movie was intense…
I do yardarm as long as you add cheese – yumm!!!!
Yardarm’s Fresh Grits n Coffee Shop. I’ll have one order and a small coffee to go.
With a side of double smoked bacon, two eggs over easy and poached tomatoes and a mug of really strong coffee
#PRESSON
Don’t want much do you Swabbie.
Dag, Bobfr, you got a little hungry goin’ on there, eh?
Starving … long day … headed to the kitchen now to do something about it
I’m demanding an immediate withdrawal from all Southern-fried cooking…
Good luck with that. As I take another mouthful. Like I said a few threads back, I was damn near 13 before I found out grits wasn’t ice cream!
Yardarm, do you want “cheesy” grits?!!!!! I’ve never seen those on a menu in Oklahoma or Texas:-)
carolyn, when I visit my family in Carrollton, Georgia, it’s a staple every morning for breakfast. Ummmmm good!!!
That works for me. Don’t forget my small coffee – thanks.
My kinda ppl. However, I never do sugar or milk on mine. My favorite is catfish and grits with a touch of gravy and a biscuit or two.
And add some onions and you got a mighty fine breakfast there sir!
Amen.
Jesus Name.
Amen!
Amen
Amen
Amen
Amen.
Amen and amen.
Amen, Amen, Amen.
Thank you for this lovely prayer.
Amen
amen!!
Amen, and Amen. Thank you for that prayer. Amen.HZ
And the Father, who is in Heaven, said no weapon formed against him (President Obama) shall prosper. Amen
vitaminlover, Let me say Amen also, and might I add, thank you Heavenly Father for watching over the President’s family , keeping them safe and sound and there for each other. Amen.
Amen
Yes, cheese grits are popular, but remember Robney said “cheesy” grits, he doesn’t know, and those aren’t cheesy.
I love that picture of the President at the top. He knows how to find that inner center and eliminate all the noise and clutter. One reason I admire him so much. He is a whole person…..one who is completely integrated and together. Perfect example of Maslow “self-actuated” person if ever I saw one!
I suspect Mr. Myth used the word ‘cheesy’ as self-descriptive!
Pamela, this photo of PBO tears at my heart also. I lit several candles and said special prayers for him today.
We are truly blessed to have him.
Even with these TODObots slinging their grits all over the blog, still our President meditates!
‘cuse us Ms. Pamela. Leave our grits alone. We’ll have enough for you and the “Boss Man” if y’all want some.
Pamela; I haven’t tried grits either. Not very common on the West Coast. Next time I visit the South; I’ll try them.
Trader Joe’s stocks them, of course!
Good stuff. I’ve lived in WA state most of my life, but my parents were from the East and we had them many mornings.
I think you can get them pretty much anywhere – all our local stores out here have Albers Quick Grits in the cereal aisle next to the Cream of Wheat.
I mail-order the long-cooking version, yellow and white, from Carolina Plantation in NC.
HZ, having grits for brunch with this group of elevated Souls would be a step closer to heaven! Love ya’ back! Take care and have a good Monday!
Pamela – I had grits for the first time two years ago, and loved them! Tried them a second time, and not so much because they weren’t cooked very well. I’d try Yardarm’s grits, though. They sound delicious!
How lovely!
Amen….
I meant “self actualized”…..fingers got away from me.
He is at the top of that paramid isn’t he.
The star above the mast, he is to me.
–
2 weeks, huh?
I can’t see that Republicans will be vindicated, especially when people start to see their benefits being taken away from them, and the deficit explodes. I don’t think the GOP have thought this through.
By KATHLEEN SEBELIUS | 3/11/12 9:02 PM EDT

It’s called “The Obama Bracket Challenge.” Visitors to Obama’s campaign website, BarackObama.com, are invited to pick the winners of each tournament matchup.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/obama-campaign-hopes-to-pull-in-cash-through-its-own-ncaa-tournament-pool/2012/03/11/gIQAHdRF6R_story.html
Oh, definitely! We all have to play this! Are you all in?
They lost me on the first log in! I would help them lose, nothing more, nothing less! Best for me to pass on this one, but did buy up a lot more campaign stuff to hand out as I move along!
Nice!
That happened to me once with a rocking chair in the tv room. Had to move a couch three times. Oh my back.
Found some sliders that you put under each lef of your sofa and chair and slide them around. Bed Bath and Beyond has them.
And it’s a 3 way tie! WTF?
It’s rubbish, Jovie. Mitt Romney will emerge the “winner” as is the plan.
Yep, HF, a Romney friendly county will be held until the last and then release votes that will put him over the top. The establishment has spoken and the others are being pushed out of the way.
He looks so pensive.
The President and Cameron to do a joint interview during halftime, of the NCAA tournament Tuesday!
@Dianne and snoopy4eva2
Now I am going to bed and I hope that some of you enjoy it like I did.
http://ioby.org/blog/meet-vision-meet-karen-washington
Thank you
I wonder what wonderful thoughts are going on during his pensive moments? I hope , if only for a moment, he can have complete peace!!
God bless our wise, sensitive, thoughtful and highly intelligent President. He is thinking when we are all sleeping.
Yes, indeed.
truer words were never spoken! right on G!
Thanks
my thoughts and wishes for your successful surgery and speedy recovery. will keep you close as you go through this procedure
Best of luck Obama Grandmama. Do the rehab and you’ll be ready to dance after the election.
Hi Obama Grandmama. We will certainly be praying for peace and a speedy recovery for you. And I agree that rehab is key.
You have it, OG. I’m sure you’ll come through with flying colors and will walk better than ever in a short while. Remember when you go in for the surgery that a lot of people are pulling for you.
OG..
sending you positive spiritual vibes for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery….
Hopefully she will then become a contributing member of your little community and leave me alone as she loves to keep me informed of all of the goings on, even though I don’t listen half of the time………just kidding honey.
thanks!
LP
hello Jo Ann from Portland, please come out of the “shadows” and join us.
Please declare your self publicly as your dear Luke has already outed you!! remember Jo Ann, President Obama could be reading your post and taking strength from it to keep his resolve and eye on the prize of World Peace and socio-economic equality for all
Jump in Jo Ann the water is great
And Luke, you’re more than welcome, too!!!

Obama/Biden 2012
Gamg, you have a lot to contribute because your opinion counts. Even if you think you don’t have anything earth shattering to say, we all draw comfort from each other and every contribution, no matter how tiny at first, makes us all feel better. Please, please comment.
That’s very kind of you Jackie.
Thank you!
Grab a Mop Grace, I love your name!
Loving your moniker (Grab a Mop Grace). Nothing to it but to do it. Be an active part of the change.
Love it. Welcome welcome.
Good morning everyone. Welcome Jo Ann and Luke. Get comfortable and stay a while
Welcome Jo Ann – all supporters welcome….
Greetings Luke and JoAnn…
Welcome to the TOD fam….feel free to browse around, comment and participate….we can be a feisty bunch but always loving…..

Presssssssssssss ON!
Welcome Jo Ann, please post and join the family!
Jo Ann stop lurking and jump right in. Everybody here is so nice. We runff the teabaggers and the naysayers off so you will feel safe.
how sweet are you Luke?
Hey Jo Ann – Luke deserves a bit of something “exta” for this act of loving kindness.
How lucky are you?
Welcome, welcome Jo Ann. Looking forward to seeing you post.
Howdy, JoAnn…the Great Northwest is well represented here, as you know. We love increasing our numbers…That is Portland, Oregon, right? Welcome.
According to PPP, Gingrich is looking good for Tuesday, but it’s a 3 way tie in both States.
Gingrich has a little advantage in Mississppi.
If Gingrich wind, then what? The South goes to The Grinch, the Midwest goes to little Pricky and the big states go to Mutt Robney.
I thought I has seen all his photos that are in public domain but this is a new one for me. simply deep
Yes, indeed, very deep and I love it too, global. He is not a shallow goofball wannabe president. He is our REAL DEAL President.
@Obamagrandmama
Nice try eveingeorgia, I suspect you are not considered a lurker anymore!

Well, I’m exhausted tonight, but I’m finally getting to stop in to TOD, to take a little look around!
Chips, that pensive pose in the photo of the President is to die for. Just the mood I was in, and there it was. Thank you, thank you.
I hope to be on the blog more this week, soaking up the goodness. Have a great week, everybody.
WONDERFUL PHOTO! Thanks once more Chips. You’re brilliant… and oh so appreciated!
I’m sure the media will pounce on this.
The only poll that matters is the one on Nov 6, and if the American electorate isn’t prepared to overwhelmingly vote for President Obama, the only man actually qualified and dedicated to run this country and put the people of this country first, then God help America and the world.
Amen to that theo67.
Yep, the only poll that matters is the poll that is going to be the final poll. 2008 the line was long went; took us two hours to get in. This time I know it will take longer because more young people qualified to vote. Not worried at all.
I agree. I’m not nervous yet. I think I’ll need to see more polls that align with this one before I panic.
I remember their January poll also had Romney up +2, even though most others were showing things differently. So…
well, qouting this negative poll has already started and fox headlines are screaming: ‘President Obama down in polls’ (like they have multiple numberss!!
ANY poll about PBO in March 2012 – whether he’s 2 points or 20 points down is NO cause for panic.
exactly theo67. the MSM will do what they do.
Fuggem
Bingo…
Oh please.
Why does George Snuffiluffagas go on Bill O’Reilly ?
Probably got a book coming out. Besides they all run in the same social and media circles.
Good Morning…..
Thanks Bill….I will watch it on line later.
GM …my TOD fam….
GM Bill….
i saw some of that interview before leaving for work this morning…i had not planned to watch game change….but i just might now….interesting is that Steve Schmidt seemed level headed to me…but the exerps from the movie show him as a lil eractic….that seemed to clash with his TV personna…as shown on MSNBC….so tell me Bill…did you think this as well…
DCCC Launches Website Chronicling Republican Scandals

I think this is a horrible idea and will just spawn the ” I know you are but what am I ” blow back…
Mika has her sad eyes this morning! Not one mention of Robney! Disingenuous!
Omg!!!
lollololol see Jovie, now why are you making sense? No one is falling for that hype.
So elitist.
Well do to the MSM what we did to Rush Limbaugh and Glen Beck.
Expose their wickedness and take them down.

Thanks Professor for this comprehensive contact list. I intend to make FULL use of it. I will also try to add the Twitter accounts to those that have them available.
Wow, thank you, professorx10, what a comprehensive list!
Robney has no minority support and is 17 points behind in the women vote.
But, the Press is telling us all, he is ahead of the President.
If that is true, he must be winning white makes by 75 points!!!
Listen up:
These are the constituencies that ABC/WaPo used to scream the headline about PBO’s poll numbers:
“The downshift is particularly notable among independents — 57 percent of whom now disapprove — and among white people without college degrees, with disapproval among this group now topping approval by a ratio of more than 2 to 1, at 66 versus 28 percent”
Scary, right? but wait!
At the end of the article, there is this:
“Obama’s team may take comfort, however, that, notwithstanding the tightness of the general-election race today, a majority of Americans now say they believe he will win reelection in November.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/gas-prices-sink-obamas-ratings-on-economy-bring-parity-to-race-for-white-house/2012/03/11/gIQAuhYO6R_story.html
For what its worth, the last I checked the InTrade odds for PBO are 60.6.
The Full Clinton
by Zandar
Via Alan Colmes this morning:
Republican Congressman Walter Jones wants to impeach President Obama over his actions in Libya. House Concurrent Resolution 107 is his bill, which begins:
Expressing the sense of Congress that the use of offensive military force by a President without prior and clear authorization of an Act of Congress constitutes an impeachable high crime and misdemeanor under article II, section 4 of the Constitution.
And so it begins. Perhaps the resolution should be called the Sad Attempt To Get Republican Turnout Act. Obama Derangement Syndrome, America’s greatest untapped unnatural resource.
http://www.balloon-juice.com/2012/03/12/the-full-clinton/
who is paying for this?
Some of you good people please drop by coldheartedtruth.com and help with the fight against the anti-Obamas there.
I (James-New-Leaf) and others need all the help we can get. Warning: Language not always nice.)
