It’s been a FUN evening!! Glamorous, bright, glitzy, and hilarious!!
GOOD NIGHT ALL !!!
Nice photo summary of the day! Chips is da best! Now I have to go delete 180 new TOD email alerts. Anyone know how I stop this newly arrived craziness—-since I had to re-log in?
Boy Chips, I can’t keep up with you. I have posted 3 comments and they all have ended up right after I find out there is a new post. It’s been a long day for everyone. Am going to try to catch up on all the posts.
Worth a repeat, FLOTUS is stunning and George is beautiful.
I love the anticipation on the faces of the children.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameron discussed the possibility of releasing emergency oil reserves during a meeting on Wednesday, two sources familiar with the talks said, the first sign that Obama is starting to test global support for an effort to knock back near-record fuel prices.
Obama raised the issue during a broad bilateral meeting at the White House, according to a UK official with knowledge of the discussion.
Asked about the talks, a senior Obama administration official said: “No agreement was reached. We will continue to work together to address energy security and oil price issues.”
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The Marine Corps said on Wednesday it would cut four infantry battalions and 12 flying squadrons over the next five years as it shrinks by 20,000 personnel to meet budget constraints and peacetime needs after more than a decade of war.
The biggest cuts would fall on Marine Corps bases in North Carolina, with Camp Lejeune and the adjacent New River air base losing 5,800 personnel and Cherry Point air base losing another 2,100. Three California Marine bases – Camp Pendleton, 29 Palms and Miramar – would lose a total of 6,000 personnel.
Lieutenant General Richard Mills, head of the Combat Development Command, said the reductions would take place over five years “on a slope as opposed to a cliff” and would take place through “natural attrition,” giving Marines a chance to serve out the terms of their contracts.
Bad news for John McCain.
Well let me see, bad news for John McCain. Tell him we are paying him back for the bad news he leash on us, ……Sarah Palin.
Our First Couple are the ‘Hosts With The Mostest.’
Chips, I hope you get a breather tomorrow. You have been awesome in giving us such positive news! We are seeing “The Road We’ve Traveled” on the big screen in Portland (Mission Theater) tomorrrow. So psyched! Hope we get lots of new OFA volunteers for our neighborhood team afterward.
Ms. Chips, Thank you so very, very much for your OUTSTANDING coverage of the Prime Minister’s visit. Really way above and beyond. Just when I think you can’t top yourself, you do! Keep raising the bar girl! You leave the lamestream MEE-DEE-YA in the dust….

Though it’s been widely reported in the Korean press that President Obama is headed to Seoul later this month, it wasn’t until the White House offered a readout of a call to his counterpart there that the White House put it on the record.
Obama called South Korean President Lee Myung-bak on Wednesday to mark the start of the U.S.-Korea Free Trade Agreement at midnight Thursday, the White House said, and he also “said he is looking forward to his upcoming March 25-27 trip to Korea and anticipates a successful Nuclear Security Summit.”
Obama hosted the first-ever Nuclear Security Summit in Washington in 2010.
Korean reports have indicated that Obama is expected to visit the demilitarized zone between North Korea and South Korea, though White House press secretary Jay Carney wouldn’t confirm it. A visit to the site “would be reflective of the president’s commitment to both security on the Korean peninsula and the need for North Korea to live up to its international obligations, give up its nuclear program, and return to the community of nations,” Carney told reporters on Tuesday.
Fantastic news! Another trip!!
Chips I want to thank you for all that you have done today! I feel as though I attended the dinner. The photos were wonderful and timely. The conversation lively. This is a wonderful place and I am so thankful that you give so much of your time and talent to make it so nice. The positive outlook, the knowledge and hilarious comments of the TODers is fantastic. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Everything Diane said. You do so much for us and we are extremely grateful. Thank you!
Great coverage, Chips.
Any news on Feb fund raising ?
The new login system from WP is irritating. Now I have a permanent WP toolbar at the top of the page, which is annoying.
You get used to it after awhile. I’ve had it all along and don’t even notice it anymore. I just love that thing that shows when people have responded to my posts.
Thank you, Chipsticks. What a lovely evening.
Yes, Thanks so much Chips. I am giddy tired. Just came into the bedroom, off with the high heels, zipped the long lovely black gown down, and off it goes to the hanger. Rings, earrings off, purse thrown on the chaise, off to choose something comfortable to relax and unwind after such a lovely evening at the WH with our beautiful First Lady and handsome President. An elegant evening indeed.!!!!!
Saw Dr. Jill Biden and our sweetheart Joe looking as lovely as ever. Dr. Biden was so sexy in that beautiful white. Very becoming for her.
Do not even mention George Clooney sitting next to FLOTUS. Oh, Lord have mercy. And to see the lovely AG with his gorgeous wife, mercy, mercy. Loved talking with Richard Wolffe and tapping Gov. O’Malley on the shoulders. What a handsome man. The setting was just beautiful. What can I say about the food. Oh, my goodness. What an evening. Chips, you are the best in the world.
And the toast given by PM Cameron to POB was out of this world. A lovely evening, Chips. Thanks for inviting me as your guest. You are the best!!!!! What a beautiful day for all of us. I am so relaxed and so grateful for our Mr. President for being in the WH. Blessings and goodnight to my TOD Family.HZ
Remember this name ladies and gents: “Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley” I see this man becoming more and more public in the coming years. I just recently became familiar with him and I really, really, like what I read and hear about him. Prepping for 2016 perhaps?? :)
Let there be no doubt.
Alright folks, time moor the vessel and turn-in. Lights out!
Successful Mayor of Baltimore
Successful Governor of Maryland
Successful DGA Chair
His wife is a judge
I can keep going on but his experience, charisma, and popularity will make him very appealing in 2016.
Look at the anticipation in those young faces! Sweet. Good night everyone!
WASHINGTON (AP) — Determined to show momentum in a war marred by setbacks, President Barack Obama and British Prime Minster David Cameron said for the first time Wednesday that NATO forces would hand over the lead combat role to Afghanistan forces next year as the U.S. and its allies aim to get out by the end of 2014.
Mahalos, Chips, for all the brilliant pics and vids of David Cameron’s visit to POTUS..and good morning since it’s 1:30 EST(only 7:30pm on Kaua’i) and no telling what it is in Dublin.
Happy Damn Day! http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2012/03/14/crew-asks-irs-to-investigate-americans-for-tax-reform/ They ought to throw that con artist/LIAR in jail. ASAP.
Chips, I just wanted to tell you what a great job you did here today. I didn’t have time to participate in all the festivities, but I looked at all the pretty pictures :) Lovely. Each and every one. Style and grace on display at the White House tonight! Would be a dream to go to a State Dinner like this….
The faces of America don’t look much different than those from around the world. And especially across the pond!LOL
Hello – welcome back!
Willy Geist of “liberal” MSNBC seemed to be making fun of the friendship developed between PBO nd PM Cameron. Would it be better for them to loath each other? The MSM is hopeless.
Reading your comment I thought how inadequate Willy Geist and his colleagues in the mainstream media must feel reporting on PBO. Clearly, they are intimated by the brilliance, charisma and character of President Obama. In their heart of hearts, they probably marvel at his political acumen. They are not used to seeing a politician so comfortable in his own skin. So how do they deal with their jealousy and insecurity? They use the most powerful weapon that they have and that’s the ability to set the narrative, to ask the snarky question, to focus on the negative angle of every story. But try as they might, President Obama is a force to be reckoned with. He doesn’t have to play games, he’s a natural. The country would benefit if the media just did their job of educating and informing the public with the facts. But unfortunately, that would just make PBO look good, and as far as the media is concerned we can’t have that.
Well said, Ladyhawke. At some point in our history PBO will be appreciated for the man and President he is. Until then we shall be forced to put up with the noise.
Ladywawke you are absolutely right. These guys HATE that PBO is so loved, admired and respected around the world, and that their opinions and punditry about him is becoming increasingly irrelevant.
Hey Chips the WH has put up PBO and PM Cameron’s toasts at last night’s State Dinner. For those who didn’t watch the toast LIVE, you have got to watch it. They – the speeches …….oh go on then…..and the men – were both beautiful and hilarious. PM Cameron’s speech was an insight into how many leaders whom PBO has worked with regard him. They regard him in the highest light possible and it was more than obvious last night that America is well represented here and overseas by President Barack Obama.
Here Here!!! Well said UT
Weekly claims down to 351 better than expected, business channels haz a sad!
i love, love the second photo from top – the one of the eager young faces!!!! it is an excellent composite of who makes up America and the world and the kids’ eyes are filled with wonder
Big speech for Joe today! He is going to slam the Republicans.
Will their be a media blackout?
Soledad has Tavis on! Time after time, we like certain personalities( like Soledad) but when they get their own Shows, it’s business as usual.
That is, it’s no different from the last Anti Show.
Friday, Tavis is coming on MJ to talk about his new poverty book!
That is all and good, but where was he during the Bush administration?
No where. First of all the media would never permit his sorry arse to come on TV and bash GWB. Many of these Johnny-come-lately media whores better pray that Obama gets re-elected so that their cash flow can continue. Because if Romney gets re-elected, there will be none of that coming on TV and bashing Romney!

That explains Karl roves op-Ed saying that we have an enthusiasm problem, that nobody is donating!
Whatever! I hate him more than anyone!
I chuckle when Karl Rove uses the BS billion dollar goal HE set to discourage our donors. Didn't work – 1.3 M donors, av contribution $55.— Ben LaBolt (@BenLaBolt) March 15, 2012
Thank you for posting both toasts! They were beautiful and heartfelt. Made me proud…..”strength, moral authority and wisdom” what ore could be said!
