Btw- the WH allowed the Press into the Room, when the President was caught on an open mic.
Hence, It might have been planned, as I don’t see josh Earnest messing up like that.
BTW, welcome back Chips. I agree Jovie. I beleive this is much ado about nothing. It won’t be the first time that the media has been lead down the wrong path when they thought they really had something.
Just saw Romney on CNN. Of course Blitzer, the drama queen was practically salivating while asking Romney what did he think of the President’s remarks on the open mic. Of course, Romeny, the drama queen, was wringing his hands and crying “SHAME, SHAME, SHAME!” “The President has already comprised our national security and now he’s in bed (paraphrase) with Russia and going to do something (???) without telling the American people if he is re-elected.
This wasn’t planned, let’s not kid ourselves. It’s an unforced error, very unusual for PBO to make. Let’s hope that by tomorrow it’ll go away. In the meantime, the media is smearing Trayvon and spitting Republicans ObamaCare lies.
I agree it wasn’t planned. It will go away, because this week is all about the HCR SCOTUS case. There is no oxygen left for this “gaffe” to make any news.
Plus it wasn’t anything that would bother anyone but voters who won’t be voting for POTUS anyway and just use any reason to confirm why they don’t like POTUS.
I’m bringing over my comment from A Word from Tally, just ‘cuz I feel I must share the quote from Charles Blow with the masses!
Bill Maher’s interview with NYT columnist Charles Blow (his articles get cited here every now and then)
I know, I know… it’s Bill Maher, just ignore him and listen to his guest, okay? Trust me…
My favorite line comes from the exchange where Maher asked him to comment on Geraldo Rivera’s saying wearing the hoodie was part of the blame for Trayvon Martin’s killing (around 7:20). “…It’s the rape defense “… she wore something that was too revealing and was looking for it.” There are no come-shoot-me-clothes!”
That is it. We always pick the brainy ones, remember Tally and Dudette. Love ourselves some brains, nice eyes, nice nose, fine teeth, and maybe a shaved head that is well groomed. Now that tis HOT!!!! Oh, do not forget the shoes. Must be nice and have a great shine.
It’s a damn shame how the idiots who pass for journalists have not covered Pres. Obama’s trip to Korea. I’ve had two pretty “with it” friends say “What? I didn’t even know that he was out of the country!” when I mentioned his visit to the DMZ. (By the way, I apologize for insulting idiots everywhere…) Of course, I referred them to TOD for up-to-date news. Damn shame…
Somebody on the earlier thread pointed out that the pool reporters may file stories, but it’s the editors back home who DECIDE what to broadcast/publish. Maybe we can cut the rank-in-file a little slack. It’s the decision-makers who need to get slammed hard.
Dudette, that was me that said that. I pointed out that there was a guy in the video of PBO at Camp Boniface in the DMZ who had the NBC peacock on his sleeve. It was obvious to me that he was working pretty hard to get PBO’s audio. So, in other words, there are media staff with PBO to cover his travels. It just pisses me off that the stories don’t make it back the the “Mainstream Media” for the everyday American to see.
That’s a good point, Dudette. The president, by default, gets covered. But if the editors back home don’t put him on tv or the front page, that’s not the reporters’ fault.
I tried to address this recently but wasn’t sure if I highlighted the correct person at CNN.
@CNN VP K. Green – 'consumers want to be informed. They are thirsting for knowledge and understanding' so you give them GOP drivel vs SKorea— Vick C. (@sonamie) March 25, 2012
After WWII we were taught that the big bad enemy used propaganda but the good USA had a free press to inform the public. We believed in truth and the American way they did not they lied. Even our newsreels reinforced that message.
We lost our way the truth was not a good tool to use to inform the public.
Dang, LL, now you got me thinking about firin’ up the Weber!! You also reminded me of when my daddy would barbecue iyear-round. In the winter, summer spring, fall!! Didn’t matter, he was SERIOUS about his ‘cue!! He had different kinds of wood that he would burn with charcoal to get certain flavors. He would collect the teeny, tiny branches and let them dry out for fire-starter wood, because ” only amateurs used lighter fluid.”
Oh yeah, and when he got in the mood, my mom was ready! She’d marinate meat, trim the chicken, season the chops, she even mixed cornbread batter. (Every main dish he ‘cued was one less she would make the rest of the week.) He figured out a way to make cornbread after the coals were on ‘simmer’ by close all the vents in the Weber and putting that domed top on it. That was some ” good eatin’!!”.
Sorry for my personal trip down Mem. La. Just reminiscing…
Smart Dad, yours, isonprize…. That firestarter crap is totally toxic, I can hardly breathe and have to close up my windows and doors when my neighbors fire up…. Carcinogen loaded, don’t want that on the food!

Gingrich says it’s wrong to identify with victimized blacks. But it’s fine to identify with victimized Christians.
By William Saletan
==================================
Newt Gingrich says it’s disgraceful of President Obama to express a feeling of kinship with Trayvon Martin. It’s wrong, according to Gingrich, because it divides Americans into groups and implies that Obama would be less sympathetic to a white victim. An argument for impartiality in the Martin case can legitimately be made. But it can’t be made by Gingrich, because he’s an enthusiastic practitioner of identity politics. It’s just that the victim group with whom he chooses to identify is Christians, not blacks.
.
.
Let’s recap Gingrich’s statements about Muslims over the last three months. We’re entitled to defend “our religion” against hostile Muslims. American judges are favoring “radical Islam over Christianity and Judaism.” Muslim immigrants are OK as long as they aren’t trying “to impose their civilization on ours.” Whenever and wherever churches are burned, “we” are owed an apology. Presidents should stop “apologizing for Islam” while “dissing Christianity.” The entertainment industry is hostile to Christianity but “protective of Islam.” And Obama is “more sensitive to radical Islamists who are killing young Americans than he is to the Catholic Church, to Baptists, to fundamentalists.”
And yet, after all these statements, Gingrich calls Obama disgracefully divisive for remarking on his resemblance to Trayvon Martin. He asks whether Obama is “suggesting that if it had been a white who had been shot, that would be OK.”
NEWT THE POOR LOSER KNOWS HE’S OUT OF THE PRESIDENTIAL RUN…HE’S JUST GOT TO KEEP THAT TONGUE FLAPPING AS LONG AS HE CAN IN FRONT OF THE CAMERAS WHEN HE GETS THE CHANCE. I am so sad Newt keeps saying exponentially stupider shit every damn day. I really wanted him to stay in this race as long as possible so their convention would be the most fucked up mess possible. But it seems as though Adelson’s money is causing him to self-immolate with higher degrees until he becomes the surface of the sun.

ROMNEY & KYL MAKE SKID MARKS TO THE FAINTING COUCH OVER “HOT MIC” COMMENTS
When presidents meet a ‘hot mic’
By Steve Benen
=========================
Mitt Romney is feigning outrage, and Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.), who’s often confused about U.S. policy in Russia but likes to pretend otherwise, is looking for the fainting couch, but Obama’s comments aren’t exactly scandalous.
The president believes the election season restricts his foreign policy options? Well, sure, but that isn’t exactly breaking news. The administration, if given a second term, plans to have additional talks with Russia on missile defense, and would like Russia to be patient until after the election? Yep, we knew that, too.
Ultimately, Obama didn’t say anything we didn’t already know, or echo remarks he’s already made publicly. He was a little more candid in his delivery with Medvedev in Seoul, but it’s not unusual for U.S. presidents to seek some election-season “space” from negotiating partners, especially when it’s an election year in both countries.
Once again, they have nothing, so they hop on the stupidest trifle to make it a big deal. Romney just speaks words with no meaning and Kyl is less important than the annoying vole in my backyard.
Right on, Jackie, at least the vole has a part to play in the natural world! Romney is a manufactured error which resists the delete button. But only for a little while longer, then he will be deleted forever. He wouldn’t dare run in 2016, would he? Even he cannot be that stupid…..But fools and their delusions are not easily parted. Hence the GOP still breathing, if barely.
Here is our dear and massively missed Chips, promising ‘a return to normalcy’ in a couple hours….. If only that were possible! Do you think mama knows what everyone got up to while she was on the Riveria?
Hey Chips! Hey TOD! Sending good vibes for a sane, positive ruling on the ACA. Maybe these justices that gave us the Bush v. Gore and Citizens United travesties will redeem themselves by doing the right thing on healthcare. A girl can hope.
He really does live in the 1950″s. Than again, he looks like he stepped out of a 50′s sitcom. He is at war with Russia, China, Iran, North Korea (a real oldie from the 50′s). The whole world must be terrified what will happen if the repugs get back into power.
Debz, your comment just gave me a brilliant idea. Since the US is a world leader, the whole world should be allowed a certain number of delegates for the presidential election. Not enough to overrule the wishes of the American people, but enough to be meaningful. – a small percentage of the current total delegate count maybe. What do you think? After all, the final decision greatly affects the lives of those outside the US almost as much as those inside.
I wish the American people realized how our elections affect the lives of everyone around the world. A lesson we all should have learned after W’s disaster of a Presidency.
Oh well, thanks for the heads up Willard. I thought it was them nasty turrists. Thanks for clearing that up.
Now go sit down and put your thumb back in your mouth., you big numbskull.
One Adam B is covering the arguments in the Supreme Court re the Affordable Care Act:
He says : ” Having read this morning’s argument transcript, I agree with the courtroom observers who believe that the Court will blow past this issue and resolve the constitutionality of the individual mandate on the merits. Justice Alito, and maybe the chief justice, do seem favorably inclined to the Anti Injunction Act (AIA) argument, but I don’t yet see five votes for it.
The AIA issue wasn’t pressed by either side of the case; the Court brought in outside counsel Robert Long to argue this point. While the transcript gets wonky at times, I want to focus on the Court’s discussion on whether the penalty constitutes a “tax.”
I love this! One of the best videos shared on the site. PBO’s love and appreciation for women, and theirs for him, is illustrated so beautifully here. I love the music also, one of my faves from high school.

Father, God, thank you for protecting President Obama’s life, his reputation, his family and his re-election. I pray now Lord that nothing that he is doing for this country is in vain. Thank You for keeping Your guidance upon him and thank you for having such great lovingkindness and great tender mercy upon this man. It is obvious, Lord, that You have chosen him so keep Your strong and powerful Hand on him. Thank you for continuing to give him such fantastic favor and blessings. Let his enemies continue to be confused and scatter them as far away as east is from the west. Show Your power through him, Lord in Jesus Name. Amen
Ok, reading this article on Yahoo’s baseball site about a once-promising pitcher’s descent into alcoholism and now a hit and run on a 72 year old motorcyclist. He was arrested on another, unrelated DUI charge in 2009. I’ll let the article speak for itself.
Video of the arrest on June 28, 2009 remains archived for posterity. Fox News anchor Rick Folbaum took great glee in recounting Bush’s fall from No. 1 overall pick in the 2004 Major League Baseball draft to wailing face down in a San Diego parking lot.
“Apparently,” Folbaum said, “there is crying in baseball.”
Stay classy, Fox, stay classy. No need to let a little human compassion soil your skivvies.
3 More Words And Phrases Democrats Should Start Universally Using — And — A Call To Action
By Jill W Klausen (3/26/12)
============================
2. Never, ever say “Gun Control laws” again. From now on, only talk about “Gun Responsibility laws.”
On the heels of the tragic slaying of Trayvon Martin, and headlines like these being splashed across the internet: “Gun sales soaring, boosted by gun laws, concerns about Obama,” gun responsibility will be a topical issue in this election cycle once again. And we’re going to have to get this narrative really, really right if we want to win on it this time around.
Let’s face facts: people — including Democrats! — resent having control taken away. But everyone recognizes the universal truth that people need to be responsible. Even gun owners who have been fighting the laws Democrats advocate to ensure public safety, refer to themselves as “responsible” gun owners.
We don’t think this needs much extrapolation — it’s actually just basic common sense. We need better Gun Responsibility laws that protect innocent people from potential gun violence while also affording responsible gun owners the protection they feel their guns provide them.
Kyl just said on the Senate floor that Congress is going to have to get involved with the Presidents open mic comment.
He says, the President is withholding information from the American people and wants to disarm America by making a deal with the Russians.
Wow!
That is not what he said, bit they are really twisting this open mic Thingy.
And then McCain said this is Obamas etch a sketch moment.
And seeing how this is the Only coverage the press gives the President, it tarnishes the whole Trip, because nobody(except us) know what he was doing in South Korea.
My take, the gas price attack is not working, the Suffolk poll came out today with the President up ten on Robney.
They (the gop)need to keep changing tactics, until they get something.
Again, the President is aware of this, but should proceed with caution, everything he does will be under a microscope. As, The Republicans are desperate.
The thing is, except for the 27% dead enders, this country has come to trust PBO when if comes to foreign affairs and diplomacy. This whole “He’s selling us out” tactic won’t work like it would have when the Republicans held all the foreign policy/national security cred.
If you’ve got the better part of an hour available to watch something online, may I recommend to you the first episode of Finding Your Roots with Henry Lewis Gates Jr. Featured are Cory Booker and Rep Lewis…very moving: http://video.pbs.org/video/2209169895
I heard Professor Gates’ interview with Tom Joyner about the show last week and forgot to tune in. I always LOVE his genealogy specials. Now he’s starting a new series. Everyone should see this!
Here are a couple of articles to whet everyone’s appetite until they can watch the show:
Just based on what I’m hearing – it sounds like the bill will move forward. Once Harry Reid votes “aye” it is a sign that they’re going to proceed. No filibuster.
Just heard most (missed the first 3-4 minutes) of a discussion about ACA/SC hearing. This was on our local 5:00 news show. I was blown away with the two medical reps they had on. They both said very good things about the ACA, all the positives, especially in terms of reducing health care costs, both in the short and long term. They both indicated they do not think it will be overturned, including the mandate. One guy even made the point that it is patterned after Romney’s plan in MA. Keep in mind this is in very red and rabid right-wing Knoxville.
The most impressive thing about the rally today at the Supreme Court were all the ‘white coats” that were there. Doctors came from all over the United States to support ACA. They were some of our strongest advocates outside that court today. So your comment falls right in line with what I saw today.

Plus it wasn’t anything that would bother anyone but voters who won’t be voting for POTUS anyway and just use any reason to confirm why they don’t like POTUS.
It’s nothing like the Romney “etch-a-sketch” gaffe because this is one case of “flexibility” but it’s just the truth reasonable people expect that Obama has to get re-elected before he has any idea what he can negotiate with.
There is no point negotiated some sort of anything when if GOP gets elected, the will probably not want to uphold Obama’s deal anyway.
The Senate voted 92-4 Monday to begin an election-year floor debate over Democratic legislation to repeal oil industry tax breaks, a plan that’s unlikely to ultimately pass but provides a platform for partisan warfare over gasoline prices.
The procedural vote advanced Sen. Robert Menendez’s (D-N.J.) plan that would raise billions of dollars by removing incentives for the largest oil-and-gas companies, and also extend several green energy and energy efficiency tax breaks.

He was a little more candid in his delivery with Medvedev in Seoul, but it’s not unusual for U.S. presidents to seek some election-season “space” from negotiating partners, especially when it’s an election year in both countries.

THERE IS NOTHING PBO SAID WE DIDN’T KNOW ALREADY! THESE MEDIA JERKS NEED A REAL JOB!
Sue, forgive me for what I’m about to say, the media is full of alot of Bull Sh*t.
She has her spies…*cough*Yardarm*cough*
There’s one in every crowd, LL.
Hey Chips! Hey TOD! Sending good vibes for a sane, positive ruling on the ACA. Maybe these justices that gave us the Bush v. Gore and Citizens United travesties will redeem themselves by doing the right thing on healthcare. A girl can hope.
Yes, PJ, a girl can hope, and sometimes those hopes get wings.
Robney said that Russia was our number one Foe.
Boy oh Boy!
Mr. Romney? Yes, it’s 1988 on the phone. We’d like to take our Cold War back. Thank you.
Six months from now Etch a Sketch will deny that he ever said such a thing.
Oh well, thanks for the heads up Willard. I thought it was them nasty turrists. Thanks for clearing that up.
Now go sit down and put your thumb back in your mouth., you big numbskull.
Ok, this is for my fellow football-heads, completely non-political, and kinda cool.

Some info I thought would be useful-
One Adam B is covering the arguments in the Supreme Court re the Affordable Care Act:

Amen
Amen.
Amen, Amen, Amen.

Ok, reading this article on Yahoo’s baseball site about a once-promising pitcher’s descent into alcoholism and now a hit and run on a 72 year old motorcyclist. He was arrested on another, unrelated DUI charge in 2009. I’ll let the article speak for itself.
Stay classy, Fox, stay classy. No need to let a little human compassion soil your skivvies.
Gohmert says, liberals should fear If Court upholds Mandate, you will have a Redneck President!
That is true, A redneck President would scare the shit out of me.
And hopefruit2 says, whether or not the Court upholds the Mandate, Gohmert is an arse.
Checkmate!!
Yup!
Why? Is his dumbass gonna run?

3 More Words And Phrases Democrats Should Start Universally Using — And — A Call To Action
By Jill W Klausen (3/26/12)
============================

5 Words And Phrases Democrats Should Never Say Again
By Jill W Klausen (3/18/12)

The point is “messaging” is REALLY important. It’s all in how you frame it.
This was a plan with the Prez and Medvedev.
If you’ve got the better part of an hour available to watch something online, may I recommend to you the first episode of Finding Your Roots with Henry Lewis Gates Jr. Featured are Cory Booker and Rep Lewis…very moving: http://video.pbs.org/video/2209169895
Oh, thank you, Tien!
I heard Professor Gates’ interview with Tom Joyner about the show last week and forgot to tune in. I always LOVE his genealogy specials. Now he’s starting a new series. Everyone should see this!
Here are a couple of articles to whet everyone’s appetite until they can watch the show:

I watched it last night. Very good program!
Today ‘s House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s Birthday! Having her in our House is one of the things I’m grateful for today!
Senate is now voting on whether to proceed with the bill that repeals tax breaks for big oil corporations.
http://www.c-span.org/Live-Video/C-SPAN2/
And then post office reform filing for cloture.
Just based on what I’m hearing – it sounds like the bill will move forward. Once Harry Reid votes “aye” it is a sign that they’re going to proceed. No filibuster.
Yea’s – 92
Nays – 4
Motion agreed to. Senate will move forward on bill.
I saw Landrieu vote NO….grrrrrrr…..
Seeing so many supporters was such a sweet sight. Finally!
Amen! Retweeted!
New post everyone:

Save our Postal Service!!!!!

They just want to debate this, not likely to pass!
