Good Day all my O peeps!!!! Another great getting up day in the TOD universe!!! There was a Wisc poll that said repub men and women rated their issues as: men – deficit, spending, contraception and women – healthcare, economy, contraception. The announcer tried to make this as repubsdon’t really feel that this whole contraceptive thing is just not that big a deal for repubs of either sex. I’m thinking, ‘you numbnut, most women feel that contraceptive/birth control IS healthcare! Why else would repub women make healthcare their #1 issue and do we really think it’s their #1 issue because they don’t like ACA? I’ll say this once again, no matter how repub women vote in the primary, they are voting PBO in the general.

Florida shooter Zimmerman will turn himself in to authorities if charged in shooting death of Trayvon Martin, defense lawyer says – @Reuters— Breaking News (@BreakingNews) April 02, 2012
He has had a choice to date, alright, and if he turns himself in who knows what other choices he’ll have! Will he get his choice of bedroom, meals, etc? Look at that police video again and check how he was stepping aside for the police officer to go first, and how he was gently encouraged to go ahead. Look at his body language when he leaned against the wall. Look at how he was allowed to walk under his own steam without anyone yanking on his arms etc. Stand back and look again and see if you didn’t see 3 or 4 ‘equals’ standing in the garage and walking into the station, then tell me Georgie boy didn’t have choices; Trayvon, none.
If or when? He should have walked back into the police station the next day and tell them he wanted to confess. Daddy can help you but so much. There is no way he can help you if you commit murder.
Let them try to get him out of this one. I told my son when Bernard Getz gunned down those boys in the subway that if he ever went into the subway and bothered anyone and they gunned him down I wouldn’t support him.
I also told him that I wasn’t going to use my day off to jump on a bus and ride all the way to the Canadian border to visit him in prison and he knew I meant it too. So he towed the line and didn’t disappoint me. This judge or magistrate cuddled his boy, hence this result.
I don’t know Miss Pat, but I think this Daddy has already proven that he can help Georgie. I suspect that it’s daddy’s connections that kept him out of lock up in the first place, and I suspect that George would have gotten away with murder with Daddy’s help, if the details of the case had been mostly kept out of the public eye. I’m still not sure he and daddy won’t prevail. Do you doubt daddy has previously helped him to minimize other aggressive encounters? I don’t.
Well if Daddy get him out of th is one my faith in the justice system, what little I have lefet will be shattered. When I applied for insurance last time, I filled out the application online and was rejected in 20 minutes. I have controlled asthma, a little high blood pressure and some arthritis. No way I was getting insurance.
But because the law requires a signed, written rejection letter that I couldn’t get from this particular insurance company, I waited too long and now have to re-apply. It’s maddening. And God forbid that I forget a cortisone cream from four years ago for a little dermatitis. They consider that ‘fraud’. It’s insane.
It does sound insane to me, but then I’m in a country where I just go to the doctor when I’m sick; since I’ve been going there for ages I don’t even need to show my health card, just wave to the receptionist on arrival. My greatest expenses to date have been prescriptions, half of which I never fill, even though I have a drug plan, because I hate medications. It has always boggled my mind that an advanced country like the US makes such a fuss about having good healthcare for its citizens.

The insurance company denied the child a walker because they said since he couldn’t walk, he didn’t need a walker.

Onfe of my favorite PBO bad ass moments was when he invited Ryan, McConnell, et al to American University where he was to deliver a speech. They got the surprise of their lives when the president, proceeded to tell the audience everything that was wrong with the Ryan budget by drawing a stark contrast with his surgical approach to deficit reduction that will protect the social safety nets. Ryan had that deer-in the-headlights expression on his wimpy face. I love how PBO will tell anyone anywhere, to their faces, exactly what he thinks. It was a masterful take down. I cannot wait to see 2.0.

Ok, I think the next time that someone out in the public asks me “So, how long will libraries be around?”, I’ll answer “Libraries and prostitutes will be around forever.”
Good West Coast morning everyone. I’ve been easy on the politics for the past few days. But I’ve signed up for another phonebanking as data entry in a couple of weeks, so yay me.
Oh, I was at the bank today making a deposit for the library, and the bank teller asked if I thought libraries would still be around in a few years. I have him the standard answer “Oh, yes, we’ll be around”. The “prostitute” part was something I added in my smart ass head, as librarianship is another of the world’s oldest professions.
No kidding Yardarm, I believe comic books (for the older than picture book crowd) are now called ‘graphic novels’ and they ARE more prevalent and acceptable in classrooms now than their predecessors ever were.

White House targeting women voters, also
By KIM HART | 4/2/12 11:31 AM EDT
The White House is playing up its advantage among women voters and adding a jobs twist.
On Friday, it will hold a White House Forum on Women in the Economy to tout how the administration “has helped create economic security for women and recognized that women are key to economic growth and competitiveness,” according to a White House official.
The USA Today/Gallup poll shows President Obama leading Mitt Romney by a 60-to-30 percent margin among women under 50 in battleground states, and Team Obama wants to continue its appeal to that key voting bloc.
At the forum, the White House will release a report highlighting how women’s economic security has been bolstered over the past three years. Valerie Jarrett will give opening remarks, MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski will moderate a panel and Obama will speak to audience of academics and business leaders. Senior administration officials, including Kathleen Sebelius, Hilda Solis and Cecilia Munoz, will lead breakout sessions on, for example, women at work and women entrepreneurship, according to the White House.
Well, amk, maybe they are hoping to draw in a wide cross section of women, including some from her Republican audience? Give them a view of how women ought to express themselves with confidence? Draw them in with a familiar face then give them the facts? Mika might surprise and actually moderate, or she will nod her head and smile and the stronger women on the panel will direct things around her, much as Joe does. Hey SHE might even learn something, poor docile and ‘abused’ soul. i don’t watch Joe, but I keep waiting to hear that she has simply told him on air not to speak to her the way he does.,
I remember Miss Mika when I used to watch Morning Joke. All she did was sit there acting like she was Miss America. I don’t ever recall her having anything of value to say. I gues that’s why Joe keep her there.
LAYING THE TRACKS: California’s High-Speed Rail Authority releases a revised 2012 business plan today at a press conference. The last plan was widely criticized by Republicans, who slammed its finding that the project will cost close to $100 billion. Soon thereafter, a poll found Californians regret approving a 2008 bond measure that provided $10 billion. The Sacramento Bee reports the new plan will peg the cost at $68 billion — $30 billion less than the last go-around (http://bit.ly/H7LdaQ). The CHSRA board takes up the new plan at an April 12 meeting. The presser starts at 10 a.m. in California (1 p.m. for us East Coasters). Ann Romney Says Campaign Will ‘Unzip’ the Real Mitt
By Emily Friedman
==========================
GREEN BAY, Wis. – Ann Romney defended her husband’s sense of humor today during a radio interview, explaining that if people think the candidate seems too stiff at times as the host suggested, she thinks “we better unzip him and let the real Mitt Romney out.”
.
.
Asked whether she is aware that she is considered by many as Romney’s “stabilizer,” or the campaign’s “secret weapon,” Ann said that she did.
“Oh yes,” she said, laughing again. “Well you know, I think a lot of us in marriage know that you play different roles at different times. And Mitt can get VERY intense, and I can have the ability to kind of talk him off the rails sometimes and say, ‘Hey let’s look at what is really important and let’s do that now.’”
CRAPPPPP! Do we need her to keep Mitt’s mitts off the nuclear button! “NOW Mitt, step away from the nuclear code and calm down”. That would be a great compare and contrast – President Obama, calm cool and always thinking vs. Mitt Romney all tense and his wife calming him down….what a visual.
So basically she’s acknowledging in her own way that her hubby is a phony if she thinks the REAL him needs to be unzipped. This woman is as much a gaffe machine as her husband and yet we’re supposed to believe she’s competition for Michelle Obama? HAHA1
Joy-Ann Reid is doing a yeoman’s job at covering this case. Also, MSNBC is reporting that the FBI has been on scene today, questioning neighbors, from a civil-rights perspective.
Totally agree. Joy-Ann has been all over this story and doing exemplary reporting. I just missed her interview on Martin Bashir. Hopefully, I can catch it later today.
That’s real interesting since she did it last week and she’s not even from the Big Shot News Agencies. She’s the editor of The Grio. and is a some time contributor to MSNBC.
Yes, I first found The Grio – probably on TOD – because of Goldie Taylor, but I think Joy-Ann Reid is even better than Goldie, whom I still like (I follow both on Twitter). Joy-Ann is a very serious newsjournalist. Remember when they all were?
And about reports of Trayvon getting into trouble at school, including the suspension that led him to be in Sanford on the night of February 26th, Fulton said, “I just feel that no one has ever said he’s perfect. No teenager is perfect, but I will say he was very respectable, he didn’t do anything criminal. He didn’t do anything that was violent, most importantly, didn’t do anything to lead to him being murdered. Everything people are making up and saying about him has nothing to do with what happened on Feb 26th.”
She was on Martin Bashir show, she is doing a great reporting on Trayvon, and now the FBI are
on the case, I want to be believe that Trayvon will get justice, and by the way my grand kids toll me
that geraldo Rivera is a cripy loco man.
Trayvon, a 17 year old child, is dead. I could care less about any wound or bruise or red spot on Zimmerman’s head in some so-called “enhanced” video. If Zimmerman’s story was even remotely true, then if Trayvon was sitting on top of him when Zimmerman shot him point blank in the chest, Zimmerman would have been covered in Trayvon’s blood. Show us the enhanced video of that. It’s insulting for them to keep propping up a criminal/murderer and ignoring the fact that someone’s child is now dead after walking home from a run to the corner store on a weekend afternoon, and meeting up with a stalker with a loaded gun and a dubious motive.
Zimmerman may have had that ” injury” from before and that is why a proper medical examination should have been done so a credible medical report would be available.
And nobodies asking why Trayvon was a “John Doe”for three days. Why was that? I’ll bet they did that while they ran ‘tox’ screens on him to see what kind of drugs he might have used……Real sweethearts(asses)!
Absent all of the racial overtones, sterotypes, pictures of Trayvon Martin, rallies calling for justice, videos of Zimmerman, witness accounts, interviews, 911 calls, reenactments, suspicious and botched handling by the police, a shoot first ask questions later or never law – on and on. The only thing we can know with some amount of certainty is if George Zimmerman had simply followed the instructions of the dispatcher to stand down and let the police handle the situation, Trayvon Martin would be alive today. Why did George Zimmerman ignore the request of the dispatcher? Who’s fault was that? That’s the question that will/should haunt George Zimmerman.
The right wing has been trying to demonize Travon Martin (it’s always the other guys fault) but they conveniently overlook the fact that George Zimmerman made the decision to ignore the request to stand down. No amount of look at that shiny object noise and rhetoric can change that fact.
You are correct. That is the only thing that matters. Zimmerman can’t claim he was standing his ground or defending himself when he clearly initiated the confrontation. Martin, according to his girlfriend, knew he was being followed and was trying to get away from Zimmerman who chased him down.
It’s also way past time to arrest this guy and try the case in a court of law. No one is served well by this trial by conflicting media leaks. It seems to me there has been plenty of time to review all known facts, interview all parties and witnesses and take action on this case.
You can’t make this stuff up. Just now on The Martin Bashir Show, they showed a clip of Mitt Romney talking to voters and saying he wished his wife was there because she is talking to women around the country and they tell her that they are worried about “THE DEBT”. Let that sink in.
Maybe Ann Romney can donate some of her millions to these women and the country to help pay off the debt. She should avoid saying anything about debt or money. I think most people in the 99% category are worried about a job and putting food on the table. This shows that she is just as clueless as her husbaand. On the other hand, the women who attend her rallys may be worried about the Nat’l debt, because they have plenty of personal money and they don’t have to worry about jobs and putting food on the table.
Well she is just repeating what Willard and the GOP want her to say. in our comunity “THE DEBT”
the subject does not come anywhere close . we talk about Jobs, Education healchare, and security
four our children and the country.
Scroll across the MSNBC TV screen says that Secretary Clinton will NOT campaign for the President in 2012…getting older here. Has ANY sitting Secretary of State EVER campaigned for their boss?
This is why I don’t feel sorry for the people of Wisconsin, Ohio, and any of the other anti-union, anti-women states, and if we end up with President Romney we get what we deserve.
Wow…just wow, if his policies don’t hurt me, the hell with everyone else. Do they really think that if he’s re-elected Walker WON’t turn on them eventually? Are people really that stupid?
But, but those were the ONLY 2 unions that endorsed Walker when he Run in 2010 so this is
nothing to worried about, and remember they collected more signatures to re-call walker than expected
so Walker’s days are numbered.
It depends on how they decide who they will endorse, it the union leaders make the decision on their own, it doesn’t mean there is support for the endorsement, if the members vote on who to endorse, that means Walker will probably get votes from the majority.
WEEK AHEAD — Day of Action: On Wednesday a National Day of Action for Public Transportation will take place in cities like Boston, Denver, Chicago, Pittsburgh and Seattle. The date is linked to both a speech from Martin Luther King Jr. on the link between war and poverty in 1967 and his death a year later. “Dr. King called ‘urban transportation a true genuine civil right’ and that still rings true today as our nation faces a public transportation crisis. Transit systems across the nation are cutting service, raising fares and borrowing money to keep service on the street,” said ATU International President Larry Hanley. I heard this on NPR and could not believe it, so I googled it. Can you believe this in the 21st century, there are just as many AA males in the “system” as there were in slavery 1850. This was systematically designed since 1960′s and 70′s in my opinion.
Sigh …and now the pro left are coming out in favor of SCOTUS overturning ACA because they think it will lead to single payer. These people are so stupid. :-/

Well damn, can’t get more direct than making a statement to the AP. No excuse for any misquotes. LOL.
I wonder if Paul Ryan will show up this time. Well maybe not. He’s still smarting from that last beat down the President gave him.
i missed that
And on the day of our Wisconsin primary! Smart Prez!
This is Vicky. I haven’t been able to log-in for a couple of weeks. And I can’t figure out how to “get in” as I had before.
Ahhhh I hadn’t thought of that but you are Right!
Will Ryan be sitting in the front row like he was last time?
donna, I am already to hear POTUS. What time?
A Chinese Proverb:
When Sleeping Women Wake….
Love that graphic and, of course, the truth being conveyed! Thank you Donna.

Ditto!
I like this one! Sooo true.
The conference with PBO and Mexico/Canada PMS has started!
Can’t believe how badly Harper mangles French.
We have an Anglo-Canadian working here. Her French is atrocious, probably worse than mine. Unless you’re going to live in Quebec, you don’t have to be fluently bilingual if you’re an English-speaker.
Canadian French is different from Parisian French.
Yay you, indeed! You go, LL!
So, where did this come from -“Libraries and prostitutes will be around forever.”?
Oh, I was at the bank today making a deposit for the library, and the bank teller asked if I thought libraries would still be around in a few years. I have him the standard answer “Oh, yes, we’ll be around”. The “prostitute” part was something I added in my smart ass head, as librarianship is another of the world’s oldest professions.
;lol:
Okay. I see TOD attracts more than one of us ‘smart ass head’ types.
It might require more picture/comic books if our childrens educational skills don’t advance.
No kidding Yardarm, I believe comic books (for the older than picture book crowd) are now called ‘graphic novels’ and they ARE more prevalent and acceptable in classrooms now than their predecessors ever were.
We’re in trouble.
PBO still confident about SCOTUS’ ruling in favor of ACA. Me too!! Not to mention, he has a plan B, if the justices are dumb enough not to do the right thing.
He smacked down that silly reporter GOOD.i
American reporter manages to quote Romney addressing the question to all three heads of state.
Canadian and Mexican reporters asking more serious, substantive questions.
Yes, it was a beautiful sight to see.
……and that, ladies and gentlemen was President Obama telling the Supreme Court what the deal is.
And Mexican president pushing America to adopt single payer–Canada has same deal.
Sierra Club endorses Liz Warren.
Did you see Steve Ratner bad mouthing her on Morning Joe today ?
Whoa….he is a Scott Brown fan….Yikes !
Ok, so I just finished blowing up this 75cm (92 inches circumference). I want to use it to sit on at my desk. It’s suppose to help develop your core muscles as you try for balance to stay on the thing. Well, here goes…….HELP!!!…oh never mind, I think I got it now…..oh wait….tlhis iss konda hiard tooooooo do….oomph….bee rigght baack

Do it again……
Ha ! You are funny……good luck with the ball….
I have one of those…. ( in my closet , covered with dust )
LOL! Someone gave us one of those as a gift. My Grandkiddos had a great time playing with it till they managed to pop it!
How do you pop an excersize ball?

They couldn’t anyone better than that twit ?
‘Mika Brzezinski will moderate a panel…’
Well, amk, maybe they are hoping to draw in a wide cross section of women, including some from her Republican audience? Give them a view of how women ought to express themselves with confidence? Draw them in with a familiar face then give them the facts? Mika might surprise and actually moderate, or she will nod her head and smile and the stronger women on the panel will direct things around her, much as Joe does. Hey SHE might even learn something, poor docile and ‘abused’ soul. i don’t watch Joe, but I keep waiting to hear that she has simply told him on air not to speak to her the way he does.,
Why Mika? She can only nod and shake her head on Morning Joe. Shoulda ask somebody elde. anybody but Mika.
I remember Miss Mika when I used to watch Morning Joke. All she did was sit there acting like she was Miss America. I don’t ever recall her having anything of value to say. I gues that’s why Joe keep her there.
I took French for 4 years in high school, even visited my junior year. Did he just say hello?

Watch it and access the new business plan: http://1.usa.gov/HdeH5w
THANKS. This has been a long, protracted battle but Brown wants to see it happen so maybe it will squeak through.
Ann Romney Says Campaign Will ‘Unzip’ the Real Mitt
By Emily Friedman
==========================

Ask Shamus how successful she is in talking him off the rails….she sure couldn’t get him to put the dog INSIDE the car.
I really have trouble thinking that Ann has any impact on Willard’s “intensity” (???) whatsoever.
BWAAHAHAHAA!! Keep talking, Ann.
Let me get this straight…she’s helping him?
I know, right. The woman’s an idiot. A talking version of Cindy McCain.
Pleaze, Ann! We already know he’s dick.
So, it is really Mrs. Myth Rmoney we would have sitting in the Oval Office? Pu-leese…… These people live in their own little universe, for sure.
So basically she’s acknowledging in her own way that her hubby is a phony if she thinks the REAL him needs to be unzipped. This woman is as much a gaffe machine as her husband and yet we’re supposed to believe she’s competition for Michelle Obama? HAHA1
She makes him sound like a puppet. Well, she should know.
Five wounded from a shooting at a religious university in Oakland Cali. No further info.
6 dead, 3 wounded—–way past time to do something about our insane gun laws in this country.
Trayvon Martin: a walk-through of the shooting scene
By Joy-Ann Reid
http://blog.reidreport.com/2012/03/trayvon-martin-a-walk-through-of-the-shooting-scene/
Luckily, I had Martin recorded – it was a great interview.

VIDEO: Trayvon’s mom: ‘He was a praying teenager’
By Joy-Ann Reid
=======================
Everything people are making up and saying about him has nothing to do with what happened on Feb 26th.”

http://www.thegrio.com/specials/trayvon-martin/trayvons-mom-he-was-a-praying-teen.php
She was on Martin Bashir show, she is doing a great reporting on Trayvon, and now the FBI are
on the case, I want to be believe that Trayvon will get justice, and by the way my grand kids toll me
that geraldo Rivera is a cripy loco man.
Did you see the enhanced video of the back of his head on ABC ? I am not sure what difference it makes…
http://abcnews.go.com/US/trayvon-martin-case-video-shows-injury-george-zimmermans/story?id=16055412#.T3n5ydl2PUV
I cannot find anything about his father being in the room when Zimmerman was being questioned…..
THIS!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks. I thought maybe I was by myself on this.
ANN ROMNEY SAYS WOMEN ARE WORRIED ABOUT THE DEBT
You can’t make this stuff up. Just now on The Martin Bashir Show, they showed a clip of Mitt Romney talking to voters and saying he wished his wife was there because she is talking to women around the country and they tell her that they are worried about “THE DEBT”. Let that sink in.
I would guess that he is once again lying….
The debt polls very low……all the time
Yep, she’s bullshiter.
Cha, I agree 100%.
Maybe Ann Romney can donate some of her millions to these women and the country to help pay off the debt. She should avoid saying anything about debt or money. I think most people in the 99% category are worried about a job and putting food on the table. This shows that she is just as clueless as her husbaand. On the other hand, the women who attend her rallys may be worried about the Nat’l debt, because they have plenty of personal money and they don’t have to worry about jobs and putting food on the table.
lol “She should donate her money” I’m a woman and I know lots of other women and the only debt any of us care about is paying our own bills.
I don’t think she can Campaing while she’s SOS. That goes for all the cabinet and ambassadors as well.
Anita you are correct SOS can’t campaign . however President Clinto will I’am pretty sure. and president
Clinton thinks that PBO will be re-ELECTED.
Not that I know of……
And the person who posted this know that no other SOS has campaigned for their boss. They are just trying to stir up some mess.
This is why I don’t feel sorry for the people of Wisconsin, Ohio, and any of the other anti-union, anti-women states, and if we end up with President Romney we get what we deserve.
http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entries/milwaukee-police-firefighter-unions-endorse-walker-again-in
Debz, I a speechless and shocked after reading this.
you and me, both!
Wow…just wow, if his policies don’t hurt me, the hell with everyone else. Do they really think that if he’s re-elected Walker WON’t turn on them eventually? Are people really that stupid?
I showed this to my husband, a retired police officer, and he asked the same question, “are they stupid?”
But, but those were the ONLY 2 unions that endorsed Walker when he Run in 2010 so this is
nothing to worried about, and remember they collected more signatures to re-call walker than expected
so Walker’s days are numbered.
Does than translates into the members voting for him ?
It depends on how they decide who they will endorse, it the union leaders make the decision on their own, it doesn’t mean there is support for the endorsement, if the members vote on who to endorse, that means Walker will probably get votes from the majority.
Weren’t they exempted from the union busting he did a few years back. I imagine this is just a case of I scratch your back, you scratch mine…
That’s correct.
The Hierarchy of the Police/Firefighters Union? Or was their a vote, like other Unions?

I suggest “The New Jim Crow” by Michelle Alexander.
Yeah, they were talking about that book during the program. Thanks.

Sigh …and now the pro left are coming out in favor of SCOTUS overturning ACA because they think it will lead to single payer. These people are so stupid. :-/
