On the right?
Wow, soooo envious :)
But this is so freaking awesome. You´ll have to give us ALL the details as soon as you´re back, Collegekay.
Yes she’s back and she did – click here for the details :)

Not only did she get to meet First Family in person, she might be talking to PBO on the phone soon! :)
collegekay, collegekay, collegekay!

Ooh..she’s going to be the world’s proudest mom!
Yay!!!!! It’s CK. Read your story and now you’re in the video next to FLOTUS. We have a star in our midst! :D
Mitt Romney is the Most Cynical Republican Candidate Ever
Romney is easily the most jaded, cynical presidential politician since Richard Nixon. He operates with the hubristic attitude that voters expect him to be shifty, and therefore he’s allowed to be shifty. The expectation gives him permission to be that caricature.
Romney has entirely broken down any facade of having a core set of, well, anything. He doesn’t need core values. Core values are an abandoned genetic trait — a worthless vestigial organ — lost in the, ahem, evolution of the party. Mitt Romney is The Modern Republican. He’s an empty suit who has streamlined Republican campaigning down to an even thinner and more corrosive process than Lee Atwater, Karl Rove or Ed Rollins could have ever envisioned.
And it’s helping an already thin, sketchy, marginalized Republican Party become even more anemic, and anyone can see where the trend line is heading. The Republicans, even though they had few accomplishments to ballyhoo after the Bush years, at least claimed some sort of core beliefs. Romney is making that unnecessary. And who cares? People expect politicians to be rudderless automatons. So why struggle against that? This is the height of political cynicism and it’s the centerpiece of the Romney campaign strategy.
(h/t Bob Cesca)
This is completely true. Didn’t we hear Grover Norquist saying that their criteria for a President is that he can hold a pen and sign his name? They’ll tell him what to do, how to think. In that case, Romney’s their ideal candidate. GOP are willing to abdicate their rights to a functioning democracy that truly represents the people.
Not only does Mitt make no effort to hide his cynicism, any notion of post-racial or acceptance of equal status for women in America are now exposed to be far, far from reality.
Those of us who’ve been paying attention knew when Nixon emerged that a few very wealthy white folk were not about to allow their control over finance and governmnet to ever go further in the direction set in motion by FDR and significantly boosted by the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts. No matter how it might have appeared, since 1968 they have been on an inexorable path to ensure that a white plutocracy persisted.
When Glass-Steagall could be repealed under a Democratic President you knew they were playing for keeps.
They literally stole an Election, via their narrow control of SCOTUS, and ushered 8 years of absolutely unvarnished government of, by and for the wealthy few. They made sure their control of SCOTUS was solid and thought they had the perfect way to purchase elections by engineering Citizens Unitied.
A big chunk of that transfer of wealth being enabled by their launching an illegal war and charging it to future generations of the majority of Americans to pay. The few not paying, of course, are the ones who now, because of avariciouos tax breaks and loop-holes, gained enormous wealth and had the ability to extract an oath that is a total violation of the Oath of Office of members of Congress and candidates for President.
What they did not anticipate was Barack Obama and the social netowrking power that the Internet enabled.
However, their cynicism being so totally infused with racism, they perceived in his Presidency an opportunity for rolling back America to pre-1932. What they thought would be their greatest opportunity ever to drive the final nails into the casket of the Promise of America is also what reveals their inbred, fatal flaws – racism & avarice.
You see, they thought that they could actually effect so much damage to the American economy, with a ‘n….’ as President that they’d be able to destroy Medicare, Social Security, public education, voting rights and an equitable tax structure all in a period of four years by intentionally preventing the economy to recover and that the anger among the sizable number of racists and misogynists would be such that before folk realized what they’d actually done, their deeds would be irrevocable. The net result would be a minimum wage (at best) work force, a really abundant and cheap supply of military recruits, zero regulation of financial markets, subjugation of women, and unrestricted access to national lands and resources to be exploited with zero regulation of toxic and climatic hazards.
What they didn’t anticipate was just how smart President Obama is and how increasingly aware the majority of Americans are to their scheme. The Kochs, ALEC, and their ilk certainly never anticipated the bright lights that are now being shined on them.
In their cynicism, championed by hate-monger extraordinare Rush Limbaugh, they didn’t think women were paying attention to the massive efforts to enslave them. Their cynicisim is so unbounded that for the past 3+ years they are not even trying to hide it their war on women. The same applies to their exceptionally transparent and destructive policies and practices directed at Hispanics. And, of course they hate black people – always have and always will – and denying them the ability to vote, massive efforts to disrupt public education, accelerated foreclosure of homes all share the same core objective – ‘put blacks in their place.’
Now they are beginning to get a hint that they’ve miscalculated and that more and more Americans actually like President Obama for the person he is. But, that other fatal flaw – avarice – has them thinking that others value money as much as they do and they’ll be able to buy the outcome. They think that with Citizens United all they need to do is pour a bunch of money into hateful advertising on their totally owned propaganda networks and disrupt voting rights and they will prevail. What they failed to realize is that Citizens United also enables Unions and rich folk whom don’t happen to be greedy bigots to participate, big time and in ways, for the Unions, that had been restricted.
What they didn’t get is that WE would realize that that’s all they’ve got – money and a few broadcast channels of hate which we have the ability to completely circumvent. That’s how weak they actually are. They are no match for us if we all recognize, FOR REAL, that we are now the final line of defense between all that is good about each other and our America and these few, actually rather lame, plutocrats and the #NEWSTAINERS & #KOCHSTERS whom they own.
On 6 Nov 2012, we are going to deliver them a message they should have gotten the last time they tried this stunt, in the 1920s, and this time we are not going to stop until they do not have the ability to destroy America and our planet.
Bobfr, this is excellent. I wish this could be a Word from Bobfr featured. Thank you so much. I hope everyone will read this piece. Excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!! HZ
Thank you HZ so much. Happy for folk to spread it any way they’d like. I had a 15 min break this afternoon so I thought I’d jot more than my typical 140 character tweet :)
this was superb
Bob, this is so real and so true that it sends shivers down my spine. We are confronting a decades long attempt by the rich and big corporations to derail democracy and funnel all of the nation’s resources into their own pockets. It’s the biggest and most frightful attempt to overthrow our system of government in American history.
Thank you rikyrah & jackie,
Jackie, you are correct. That is exactly what they are attempting to achieve after an unrelenting pursuit since the day Nixon was sworn to the Office of the President. It is also what both FDR and Eisenhower warned us would happen – both from positions of total purview of the powerful white few.
If you don’t know your enemy – if you fail to bring your enemy fully into view and comprehend every aspect of their objective and strategy you will LOSE, ALWAYS.
President Obama knows this and he knows that it is ONLY through ALL OF US that we can prevail.
It is not a rhetorical tool that, since 2007, he has relentlessy stated ‘this campaign is not about me it is about YOU.’
If the vast majority of us are not willing to recognize how truly brittle, fragile, vapid and evil the several HUNDRED wealthy WHITE few are and are not able to take them down hard and permenantly then we deserve the outcome.
We know the enemy. The enemy is actually very afraid of us. The enemy has ‘everything to lose’ because they base all their sense of value on money. They cannot stop us if we mobilize, solidify, focus and deliver the most overwhelming victory for democracy this Nation and the world has ever witnessed.
We can deliver that outcome on 6 Nov 2012 if we decide to let nothing stop us.
Yes We Can … DO More Together
Attempting to be crystal clear on just how real the #WarOnWomen is in the context of the total lack of real freedom these #KOCHSTER minions are:

Moreover, the lesson plan for the next 7 months needs to bring as many of these folk to the realization that President Obama is fine with them keeping their gun, but would also like them to have health care, the right to organize for fair work conditions, as well as their wife, daughter, mother, sister …. being treated with the dignity and equality every person deserves.

Terrific, Bob. The concerted actions against women makes me so angry I see red. I’m taking to the streets for the March 28 march in Harrisburg, PA. Anybody have an idea for a pithy poster I can make?
Jackie! I will be there too! Just lurking here tonight and read your comment. I hope we have a great crowd and decent weather! ONWARD!
CHART: Enacted Abortion Restrictions By Year
States Enact Record Number of Abortion Restrictions in 2011
January 5, 2012
By almost any measure, issues related to reproductive health and rights at the state level received unprecedented attention in 2011. In the 50 states combined, legislators introduced more than 1,100 reproductive health and rights-related provisions, a sharp increase from the 950 introduced in 2010. By year’s end, 135 of these provisions had been enacted in 36 states, an increase from the 89 enacted in 2010 and the 77 enacted in 2009. (Note: This analysis refers to reproductive health and rights-related “provisions,” rather than bills or laws, since bills introduced and eventually enacted in the states contain multiple relevant provisions.)
Fully 68% of these new provisions—92 in 24 states—-restrict access to abortion services, a striking increase from last year, when 26% of new provisions restricted abortion. The 92 new abortion restrictions enacted in 2011 shattered the previous record of 34 adopted in 2005.
Wow oh wow! Congrats, Collegekay, you go! :)
Collegekay, you’re in the background in this one too, from about 0:28:
wow thanks chips… i’m trying to find more
btw Pete Souza was there (of course) so I’m sure he got some cool pics
it’s like the “where’s waldo?” game!
Hi Chips and TOD Family. I am so excited. I just placed a call to the Chicago office to have a correction to something to do with my personal information, and I had the most beautiful young man, Adam take my call. He was so attentive to my call in that he was very up, and very much into what and who he represents. It is a joy to hear these young and older people be so mindful of the fact that they represent not only the campaign, But The President of the United States of America. Adam did just that.
We were talking as he was very professionally taking care to get everything correct for me, and you all know me, I got on the topic of our beautiful site, TOD. I asked him if he knew of our site, and he did not, but he was so gracious with his time and allowed me to share who we are and what Chips is doing with her blog. I gave Adam the name again. Shared how we are not just ‘any’ blog, and told him how Chipsticks runs a tight ship. He was very impressed.
I mentioned how we are not just a blog, but a ‘family blog’ who supports and respects POB. We are people of intellect, who share information of importance, tweet information, facebook, make calls to Congress (even before POB makes the request), make phone calls, and all the good stuff. He was so sweet and grateful. I told him how much we all appreciate what they are doing there in Chicago and that we support them for giving up their time especially those who are not paid, but are sacrificing so much.
While we were talking, he had navigated to our site. And he said,”I see it right here.” You guys are really doing it! I take it that he was so impressed. I asked him to visit and tell Mr. Messina, Axe, Stephanie and others to visit our site because they would not be disappointed. I also stressed that when a photo (s) (like today’s photos) of POB comes up, the ladies can get carried away and may have to go to the ‘naughty mat’ But we do it with All RESPECT to our President. He got a kick out of that. I also mentioned the men with our beautiful FLOTUS. I shared that because I told him that we have a lot of fun as well as being very, very serious about what we stand for on this blog.
He was such a delight. I bragged about our leader and all of our family members. He said, yes, I can see. He loved the photos, Chips. He said that he will spread the word, and have others check it out. I said tell David Axelrod, and Jim Messina and others to check us out because there is none like us.
We had a nice talk. I asked him if I could share his name, and he said that was just fine. He was so impressed and sooooooooo nice. He sounded like he was very cute as well. It was so much fun sharing with him. He asked if we knew each other, and I shared that some of us have met each other, but we feel so close that we feel like we all have met. However, after getting POB re-elected, hopefully we will be able to meet.
He was sooooooooooooooooooooooo nice, and sooooooooooooooooooooooooo IMPRESSED, Ms. Chips!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He loved the format of the site, Ms. Chips. So we may have some very special visitors(Again) coming to dinner!!! Love you all.HZ
This is excellent HZ! Thanks for informing him about TOD!
What a fun convo, HZ!! I’ve interacted three times with HQ and they are always very professional and sweet.
Ah, you’re lovely HZ, we really are going to have to start behaving in case any of them drop in
“We are people of intellect”…. you do us proud, HZ! I can imagine Chips surging well past 9,000,000,000, and straight onto 10 million +, during this very exciting week! VaHoo!
I volunteer to give YOU ‘behaving’ lessons, Ms Chips.
HZ, I love the way you described us! You are a great TOD ambassador. Well done!
“I volunteer to give YOU ‘behaving’ lessons, Ms Chips”
Jeez, as if my behaving wasn’t bad enough.
   CC, you have no idea how often you make me laugh out loud.
Fun phone call, HZ! Laughed and loved that you gave fair warning about the naughty stuff. Also thought it was “very cute” that you thought he sounded like he was “very cute”. Made me wonder if I sounded “very cute”. Probably not. Maybe just “slightly cute”. :) Sounds like you did a fine job describing this little oasis that chips has created, this sanity-saving meeting place of like-minded souls supportive of our most wonderful president and dedicated to his re-election. Good job!
I totally agree, well done HZ. I love that “we are people of intellect” line — you are so sweet! :-)
But gosh, Chips, does that mean no more Wet POTUS pictures for us to drool over? What if we drool calmly and quietly? ;-)
Our wet days are over for a bit, Dudette. For a while, there will be no photos at all, just discussions about budgetary matters, foreign policy, etc. Everyone must be fully clothed when they log on and must address each other as Mr or Ms, there’ll be no informal greetings like “Hellooooooooooooooooo”, “Hey dude!” and the like. Once we’re certain there’ll be no more visits from higher powers we can get back to normal, and post stuff like this:
Until then, though, we have to try to pretend we’re mature, serious people. Quite how VC, utaustinliberal, Donna, GGail and Hopefruit will manage I don’t know, I may have to put them in pending for a while. Do you think you can do it Dudette?
OMG HOW FUN!
Is that Kayla?! Awesome! I’m so happy for her! Our little family is going places! :-)
More importantly, how are YOU?
i’m good. Thanks to my TOD family, including you. :-) I miss Tucker, though. I’ve been banned from seeing him until it’s time for him to leave. I was all ready to go see him today, when they called me and yelled at me. Complained that he won’t stop crying and howling no matter what they do. They think my visiting him is aggravating the situation. I wish I could find a home for him to stay in until it’s time to leave. He’s going to make himself sick the longer he stays there.
Anyway, enough of me. I’m so happy you’re spending the day with the our wonderful first family. What a blessing. You’ll have those memories forever, Kay! Enjoy the day! :-)
Oh my :( poor Tucker. I hope you two can get reunited very soon.
Dear Tucker, hang in there little man, you and your mama will be together again soon. We can all surround him with Light, and maybe it will soften the time for him. Hachiko, when I was in Australia, my kitty utterly refused to acknowledge the cat sitter, never showed her face, sulked and isolated herself for three weeks! The poor lady was heartbroken, she had so wanted to play kitty games, brush her and have her sitting in her lap. For some animals, it’s just hard to be apart from the human they love! Hopefully you two will be reunited soon. We have you in our prayers. ((((((((:)))))))
how AWesomeeeeeeeee is this……hehehehe…Gooooooooooo girl……smilin big time
GOP: THE WORD “WAR” IS OFFENSIVE & UNPATRIOTIC WHEN USED BY DEMOCRATS
The RNC’s war on metaphors
“I find it offensive that the Democratic National Committee is using a term like that to describe policy differences,” said Sean Spicer, a spokesman for the Republican National Committee.
But we can go a little further with this. Poking around Mitt Romney’s campaign website, for example, we see the likely Republican nominee expressing concern about Obama waging a “war on the entire coal industry,” a “war on carbon dioxide,” and a “war on the Catholic Church.” Romney has also said the Obama administration has launched a “war on free enterprise” and a “war on religion.”
I’m curious, does the Republican National Committee believe this is “downright pathetic,” too? Or has Sean Spicer concluded that only one party’s patriotism deserves to be questioned, even when Republicans are using the identical metaphor?
ExxonMobil Fails To Block Shareholders From Advancing LGBT Employment Protections
That’s our Collegekay. You’re a Rock Star Girl. I’m glad I knew you when….. :)
I am brigning this oer from the previous thread because it is just so cool.
for folks who are struggling financially and can garden where they live, this is something to consider.
Urban Homestead – Using 1/5th of an Acre to support a family of 4 (ABC Nightline)
This is really an excellent idea. Families can grow quite a lot of vegetables in a small space with vertical gardening. I once saw a Depression era photo of a family that had its whole back fire escape twined with pole beans on strings. Some communities and even some churches offer garden plots for a really small fee. It’s amazing how much you can grow if you plan it right.
Enjoyed it, wow, on such a small piece of property. However, in Chicagoland, it would be hard in winter! You’de need to have lot of canning going on, etc. You’ve got to hand it to them, especially the father.
I saw a great program on PBS last week about urban gardens. It focused on NYC (rooftop gardens), Oakland, Ca (my hometown), Detriot (gardens built on vacant lots where houses once stood) and Milwaukee. Giving people with little or no access to supermarkets the ability to get fresh produce. Excellent and very exciting!
Thank you for posting that. I enjoyed it very much. Love my garden although it’s not a year round activity here in MN. I have my seedlings started now. In another month I can plant them outside. Nothing tastes as good as homegrown!
Oh neat! I bought my nephew a ball like that for Christmas! :-D
I think of it as my civic duty that I bring this video over to the new thread. It was a labor of love to do so but I didn’t want to deny you all the opportunity to see how “interactive” PBO was today at the Easter Egg Event. ;)
Donna, you are so incredibly selfless – thank you
PS That’s TOD’s back-up YouTube channel, I put videos there that are likely to get taken down. So far so good…. gulp.
A+, Donna. You have moved us closer to the ‘naughty mats.’ Thank you. We just have to get our POTUS re-elected on Nov. 6th.
What will we do without this brilliant, compassionate, loving husband, father, and President? Plus, Chips will have to sell those ‘naughty mats’ off to Newt. Did I say that? Shame on me. HZ
HZ, I have to confess to you and TOD – that I don’t know what I will do come 2017. I absolutely do not have a plan B as to how I will enjoy these events when our First Family is no longer in the WH. And as much as the media tries to pretend otherwise, they too are obsessed with this President and First Family, even when they report snarky stuff. Reuters has posted a gallery of today’s Easter Egg Roll.
Me either, Hopefruit, I guess I’ll move back to Australia to live near my daughter….. Or maybe we could all buy a big farm and set up a community of intellectuals… I helped my mom raise goats and chickens on our little farm when I was young, but it would be big enough for all of the TOD family!
Donna, glad to see you are so dedicated to doing your civic duty in taking the time to post this video. I can tell it took a lot from you to make this at all possible :)
She’s amazing, isn’t she Hopefruit? I know what a struggle it must have been for her to post that, she’s so courageous.
Well I hope to recover sometime before the night is over. ;)
I feel your pain Donna!
DD4O, I’ll just say a simple ‘thank you’. ;) ;)
This makes me *smile* RT @ppppolls: Obama doing exceptionally well on the Colorado poll we'll release tomorrow— K. Koz (@KKoz22) April 09, 2012
Michigan poll today had the President up 47-43 over Robney.
Strangely, Michigan is always close.
Me thinks, the President wins there by 6-8 points, it’s that close only because Of George Robney!
I have to question those 43% of people in Michigan, who would vote for a man who was fine with decimating their economy, ending their major industry, destroying local families and actually declared, “let Detroit go bankrupt”. What’s wrong with those people?
Theo67 we were writing and thinking the same thing. :)
“Great minds” and all that… :)
This is the state that went repub in 2010 after PBO saved the auto industry. Unfathomable.
What’s wrong with Michigan? PBO should be over “Let Detroit go bankrupt” by 15 points or so. Michigan voted that Gov. Snyder in office and I thought they were living to regret voting for any republican. George Robney is dead and gone and his son doesn’t seem to be anything like him.
First of all, there is nothing wrong with Michigan that isn’t wrong with any other battleground state. I can say as a lifelong Detroiter and Democrat that if Bush, Romney or any Republican had saved the auto industry as PBO did, I still would not vote for them because I am a Democrat and while I might appreciate that singular gesture, I do not agree with them on anything else. I can only assume that there are Republicans who may feel the same way about PBO. Also, that’s only one poll posted with Jovie’s usual flare for the dramatic. There are other recent polls that have PBO much further ahead than that. Most people in this state do not remember or care about George Romney. I’m 48 and all I remember is the name and pretty much nothing else about his terms as governor. I can assure you MI will be blue in November.
I’m thinking along the same lines as you are L3. I see absolutely no reason for the current angst where MI is concerned.
But, I have to ask this question: if one person actually saved the economy, saved the entire US manufacturing industry, saved the auto industry, took a huge gamble despite many voices screaming for the opposite – versus the other person who so callously was willing to let that all go to hell in a handbasekt… then why on earth would anyone not take that into consideration? I would have to ask what the purpose of voting is, then. Is it just to belong to a party, or is it to actually effect change; make people’s lives better; advance the goals of the country? I find it astounding that anyone wouldn’t take the consequences of a vote into consideration when making a voting decision.
This isn’t just about passing some bill to allow some minor event. This was a matter of dire consequence, with the future of the country hanging in the balance. The situation could not have been more serious, more uncertain, more ambiguous. And it bothers me to think that people would say “whatever” in those circumstances. That’s why the GOP are passing 1100 bills against women. Or why they are not hiding in shame after not lifting a finger in three years to help this country recover from one of the most severe economic collapses in our lifetimes. Because they can rest comfortably knowing that no matter what they do, or no matter the jeopardy in which they place this country, people will always vote for them – not thinking past that point to the consequences of their vote. That baffles me.
I agree with you but I can’t answer that. Thank God I don’t know very many Republicans personally and the one I do know very well we do not discuss politics. We’ve been friends for over twenty years and the first time we discussed politics was in 2008 and she left no doubt that she would not be voting for PBO. I did not press her and we have not had any political conversations since. If she has a question about PBO and or his policies I would be more than happy to provide an answer but I am strong in my views and she is strong in hers and unless that happens we won’t have any such conversation because I fear if we ever did we would no longer be friends and I don’t want to lose her friendship.
People are different they don’t see things the same way often times because they aren’t even operating with the same set of facts. She is a FOX news viewer. She may not even believe PBO saved the auto industry, considering her news source.
George Romney didn’t save the auto industry, did he? Michigan voters better turn out for POTUS.
Well, their is some reason the President is not running away with it in Michigan?
Jovie what is that reason? In your opinion, what is the reason?
I haven’t seen any polls out of Micigan lately, but that new right wing senior citizen group, and the oil companies run negative ads about our President 24/7 in Michigan.
Well I think it’s still early for the handwringing. Michigan will come around in time.
Collegekay, isn’t that you on the right? Grr, pity the quality of the photo isn’t good.
yep that’s me. second from the right… next to sasha
That’s an AP photo Collegekay, found it here:
Ahhh, we knew her when…. Way to go, Kayla! Brilliant.
Tis too true, Tien Le!~ It’s amazing how exciting it is even from my perspective to see a photo of CollegeKay right there so close and mingling with our Obamas!
I have a photo of the Obamas on my bookshelf that Michelle sent out to supporters that says..
Movements for real and lasting change are sustained by the relationships we build with one another.
Thank you for your support.” Michelle Obama
I’m really feeling some type of way about sasha being taller than me… and it wasn’t her shoes b/c we were both wearing converse. this is unfair lol
I noticed that. I wasn’t going to say anything – but now that you’ve mentioned it…. :)
CK you are adorable! Exactly how tall are you?
Don’t worry hon. Sasha is already tall for age. We just don’t notice how tall she is because she’s always photographed with her taller family members! And it appears that she’s just about to enter a major growth period…just look at her parents :)
How tall are you?
i’m about 5’3”… all of them are giants lol
You’re one inch taller than me, Collegekay, so I guess I can’t laugh quite so boldly, after all…
but…Gentle Giants
i hover somewhere between 5′ 2″ and 5′ 3″ so I feel your pain.
But, Ck, she does come from a family with tall DNA,,. I am sure she is thrilled not to be the shorty in her family, as some of us are!
Well, I am 5 feet even. So, I guess I might be the shortest of the bunch. Imagine me standing next to PBO or FLOTUS.
Someone has already made an animated GIF of our President reading “Where the Wild Things Are”
Obama camp slams Willard on taxes-
Obama pushes Congress to increase taxes on millionaires News DeskApril 1, 2012 00:50
Maybe on the stump, they can play this for the crowd before PBO even steps put on the stage! That would be awesome!
Then PBO could say that the AGREES with Reagan….he was right! All those St. Ronnie lovers would absolutely crap. He could take THIS argument away from them, too :)
Desertflower, I love it when POB and his team show how brilliant they all are. I was thinking about his upcoming trip to FL., and Leader Reid bringing a vote to the floor on the “Buffet Rule” this week, and darn, how smart is all of this right at the final days of filing taxes.
We have a brilliant POTUS!!! Get the message out there and frame it around the closing(mostly for everyone) date, when most middle-class Americans will be thinking about taxes and how much they had to pay or are getting refunds, and then think of all of the Mittens etc., who are doing otherwise. Just makes great sense. I love my POTUS.
David Plouffe and POB are too much brains in one room. Lawd have mercy. But we love it. Not comlaining, Lord. Thank you for the measure of grace and brilliance. Now let’s go and make sure we have his back. We Got Your Back, Mr. President. HZ
Now this is fun. Some of us TODers loved it when PBO did some push ups. Most of the media got tingles up their leg to see him read “Where the wind things are!” :)
HEADLINE: President Obama Growling for 30 Seconds
// President Obama didn’t half-ass his reading of Where the Wild Things Are during the White House’s annual Easter extravaganza today. When the wild rumpus began, Obama proudly showed off his inestimable growling skills, which we’ve placed on a loop for your enjoyment. For those who can’t watch the video, here’s a rough transcript: //
I found the vid of me talking to them! chips can u make a video out of this so I can download it? pleaseee
It starts at 4:05.. or you can do the whole thing LOL
He shakes my hand at 4:58
I’m on it Collegekay!
You’re totally in the thick of it!!
Oh my goodness, ck! As I watched the video, I’m sitting here bouncing up and down in my chair, grinning and clapping with glee, as if I was right there with you! I’m so excited for you — what a moment!! Cherish this time in your life. This will be something you can share with family and friends all your life and it’s especially cool that there’s actual video to go along with your description of the experience.
Just wonderful! :-D

“This is a unique opportunity for those who can afford to take part in it,” said one Obama re-election campaign official during a conference call on April 5. “We all know on this call that Florida is the key to winning the re-election-all roads lead through Florida. And so if we all do our part, we can win this thing. That being said, this is an opportunity to ask your questions.
This fundraiser will come a little more than two months after Obama cited the repeal of the military’s ban on openly gay and lesbian servicemembers as his administration’s most important LGBT-specific accomplishments at a private fundraiser in Washington, D.C., that raised $1.4 million for his re-election campaign. The president also spoke to nearly 700 LGBT supporters in Manhattan on the eve of the passage of New York’s marriage equality bill last June.
Obama has faced increased pressure from a growing number of LGBT activists to publicly endorse marriage for same-sex couples and to issue an executive order that would ban employment discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity and expression. Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and 22 U.S. senators are among those who have backed a proposal that would add nuptials for gays and lesbians to the Democratic Party’s 2012 platform.
Houston Mayor Annise Parker and other Obama supporters are among those who have said they don’t expect the president to endorse marriage equality for same-sex couples before the general election.

What happened to the markets today? It’s all about that stupid jobs report?
That’s what they said—-since mkts closed on Fri., this is a delayed reaction.
The markets will be back up. I wouldn’t worry too much about it. ABC was only too happy to jump on this story. Notice no mention of polls now that PBO is doing well.
I’ve made it a habit over the last year to occasionally ask people who own various small businesses in my neighborhood or cab drivers, etc., “how’s business going?” They all have nothing but great things to say about this year. Except last week, a few said March and April are always kind of slow due to tax season. So this may be just a temporary seasonal blip.
I’m laughing because I do that all the time too——ask “How’s business?” ——to all the small store owners in my town etc. Once in a while I’ll get a “slow today”, but I almost always get an optimistic answer. I’m always observant everywhere I go too—–are the parking lots full—–at malls, restaurants, local stores— have new businesses moved into empty spaces—-etc. etc. Did that all the way to Florida and back to illinois too—-saw lots of positive signs—-it was busy everywhere.
Oh yeah, parking lots at malls and waiting lines at restaurants have been happening for years. There’s been positive news for years, and it’s only when it became undeniable that the media reluctantly started to report positive news, even though they still plug a little negative twist into all the positive news. I haven’t asked any businesses how they’re doing, but always noting how busy the malls and restaurants are.
BREAKING: Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation ends support for ALEC thkpr.gs/HtuN12— ThinkProgress (@thinkprogress) April 09, 2012
:) GOOD! Another one bites the dust! ALEC must be exposed for the democracy stealers that they are!
What were they doing supporting ALEC in the first place?! It’s not like the group has changed missions.
Eggsactly! I think a lot of donors are like rats jumping ship now that ALEC has come into the light. I’m not surprized that Bill Gates of Microsoft would be involved with an organization that seeks legislation friendly to their corporation. Microsoft has always titred to be a monopoly. Howevewr, non of these guys want people to know how the really operate.
I think you’re right. They do good things philanthropically, but when it comes to the bottom line, they’re all after the money and will do what it takes.
From TP: This is why:
The Gates Foundation said it supported ALEC on issues regarding “teacher effectiveness and school finance.” Lee Fang reports the funding could potentially have benefited “Microsoft as privatized charters adopt more technology in the classroom.”
Progressive Change Campaign Committee and Color of Change, among others, had targeted the Gates Foundation for giving more than $375,000 to ALEC over the past two years. PCCC garnered more than 28,000 signatures in a matter of hours.
ALEC is dangerous. I saw an article that said some of these organizations didn’t really understand what ALEC was doing and they thought it was just another lobbying group. I don’t believe it, because which billionaire company stakes their reputations on a group that they don’t fully understand? Anyway, I’m glad the word is getting out and they’re even having to appear on Fox to deny the allegations.
About frickin’ time.
Amazing! ALEC must be flagrantly bad.
CBS Affiliate Will Stop Airing Limbaugh |
Philadelphia CBS affiliate WPHT will no longer broadcast Rush Limbaugh’s show, replacing the hate radio host with the far more moderate talker Michael Smerconish. While “the move does not appear to be directly related to the recent ad boycott” against Limbaugh in the wake of his sexist attacks on Georgetown Law student Sandra Fluke, it’s latest sign that Limbaugh’s dominance in the talk radio world may be waning. Limbaugh will likely move to an AM station in the city.
Win! Good riddance.
Sooo as I’m walking into my local corner store.. theres a couple of guys at a little table posiitioned outside asking for donations to prevent teen suicide.. I said I could give $5. on my credit card as I never have cash.. so while they were warming up their machine it dawned on me that they may well be a religious group.. and yep when asked they said they were. I told the man- young college age- that I don’t give usually to religious stuff as it is generally rightwing. He said we’re Christians.. I said that doesn’t seem to mean the same thing to all of us.. I said that some Christians are out telling lies about my President, calling him filthy names. He says like what…? I tell him I think theres room for all religions, such as Muslim.. and then he goes and foolishly tells me that our nation was founded on “Christian principles” I said no our Founding Fathers believed in seperation of church and state. Now after saying that his was not a political organization- he then pulls out a Constitution book and to tell me to show him where exactly it says seperation of church and state. He then tells me my President is breaking the LAW.. and I tell him to show me in the Constituition where it shows my President is breaking the law?? he ignored that… finally I realized I’m still living in a rightwing town w/ a bunch of oil lovers.. and thus told the guy, since I’d promised the $5. to him I’d donate it.. but I disagreed with everything he believed in.. and as I was walking away they all laughed at me.. aww hurt my fweeelings ;) for about a minute.
I’m proud of you
I’m not.. I wish I’d thought of finding out who they were before I agree to the money ;) but thank you Joyce. I’m not good at arguing w/ these people because they’re so full of the propaganda they’re fed through their churces/organizations. I told him that too.. that you’ve been programmed prolly since birth to see only yourselves as what represents Christians. He was a true believer… and did it all with a smile on his young face. What bothered me more was the AA man standing next to me.. buying into his bs and preparing to give money too. These folks will take his money, but trust me they see him as a second class citizen at the same time.. same way they do me. I didn’t even get started on how much they’re probably against gays. It dawned later that they may well be driving kids to suicide if they push an anti-gay agenda too.
If you’re really upset over it, you could cancel the charge and just donate directly to that teen suicide hotline:The Trevor Project.
I thought of that… but I agreed to it and gave my word, so its okay. But I learned to make sure WHO/ What I’m really donating to before doing that again.
If you donated that money to the Trevor Project, you WOULD be keeping your word:) Just saying…
Don’t beat yourself up over it though :)
I will donate additional then to the Trevor Project.. going to check it out, thank you df :)
The fact that you support PBO, yet you still were generous enough to donate to their cause should weigh in on their conscience, whether they want to admit it or not. It will bother them…they may have laughed as you left, but it most likely was a nervous laugh. Their conscience is bothering them.
thanks hope.. thats a good thought and makes me feel way better too.
Sherijr, I’m proud of you for standing up to them but I wish you would have kept your money. Lord knows what they are actually doing with the donations but you done good Sweetie. Speaking out even when people may not be listening is important.
thanks aq.. appreciate that :)
I am proud of you too sherijr, you are also a person of your word and that counts a lot in this day and age. Those so-called-christians might have laughed at you but the laugh is on them when they are judged in the end by the almighty….bearing false witness against this president.
It’s a good forewarning story though to all who read of it. Teen suicides wouldn’t seem to be a priority to the Orwellian hypocriticla world of the gopropaganda Hate machine. Which tells lies about PBO.
I just read your last sentence, sherijr, and I thought the same thing before I started posting. It’s a real thing.
They just don’t get it. It’s going to be an interesting day when they finally bring about the Rapture, and the whole lot are wondering why they’re still on planet earth… I love that he pulled out his little Constitution – you should have asked him if he’d actually read it.
Should have asked if he’d read his Bible, too.
I did mention how folks in Texas were rewriting the Bible to suit what they liked and agree with.. and that is most likely the sort of education he’s been getting… to be fair- our exchange got kinda loud, but it was respectful and we both smiled throughout. There were several other people standing around which is when I realized I was just becoming a spectacle to them.
You know, some of those people may have actually heard what you said & did some thinking. You will never know. Ripples in a pond. I’m glad you spoke your truth to lies ♥
Thats a good attitude.. one never knows, I hope you’re right. I do believe strongly in speaking out.
The good thing is that you might have made one of those spectators think twice about blind allegiance. So, even if it got loud, sometimes we have to be loud to rise above the nonsense being shouted by the other side. They have a confidence that defies reason – and no shame at their ignorance.
boy did you nail it w/ their confidence level.. I was amazed at his belief in his ‘knowledge’ and certainty. I finally said.. look I’m 54 yrs old, I’ve read a lotta things and I had a pretty good education.. so please don’t pretend to think I haven’t read things or have some bevy of experience and education- that wasn’t all one sided.
oh theo, he was quite a smug little Christian soooo I’m sure he lives on the Bible.. the parts he agrees with.
Perhaps this will help you the next time! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Separation_of_church_and_state
Main article: Separation of church and state in the United States
In the United States, the term is an offshoot of the phrase, “wall of separation between church and state,” as written in Thomas Jefferson’s letter to the Danbury Baptist Association in 1802. The original text reads: “… I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should ‘make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,’ thus building a wall of separation between Church and State.” Jefferson reflected his frequent speaking theme that the government is not to interfere with religion. The phrase was quoted by the United States Supreme Court first in 1878, and then in a series of cases starting in 1947. The phrase “separation of church and state” itself does not appear in the United States Constitution. The First Amendment states that “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.” The Supreme Court did not consider the question of how this applied to the states until 1947; when they did, in Everson v. Board of Education, all nine justices agreed that there was a wall of separation between church and state, but a majority held that the present case (a local authority paying to transport parochial students to school), the benefits to the children outweighed the Constitutional objection.
Thank YOU.. going to hang on to this, and read it thoroughly, much appreciated geeja :)
What I’m learning is that these “Christian” groups use the needy, more helpless – to get their donations but mostly just as a part of their actual political agenda. It makes me hurt, because all I really cared to give to was some teens who might need support.
oh yes he said hes read it all of course.. also all the letters from the found fathers.. I swear he was 22 at the most. But of course well versed in all things Christian, Constitutional. I honestly never thought I’d have to revisit the Constitution everytime I disagree w/ someone. Its ridiculous.
For future reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Separation_of_church_and_state_in_the_United_States This makes you correct sherijr because you said our Founding Fathers, not the Constitution. Pretty sure Thomas Jefferson was a founding father.
thanks for that Tien! Much appreciated :)
Congrats, collegekay! What an experience for you, I’m green as Kermit with envy but so happy for you. BTW, you are a cutie with a great smile & you are an inch taller than me & I say that the very best things come in a small package!
Poll: Romney Not Doing Well Enough Among Men
// President Obama leads likely Republican nominee Mitt Romney in the latest IBD/TIPP poll, thanks to a gender gap. But Obama’s large margin among women may be less important than his slim edge among men. The poll shows Obama beating Romney, 46%-38%, with 10% undecided among eligible voters. Obama leads, 48%-35%, among women overall and a whopping 56%-25% among single women.
But Democrats have traditionally had an edge with the female vote. More striking is the fact that Obama narrowly leads Romney, 44%-42%, among men. Romney led this group, 47%-42%, in March, but Obama led, 45%-43%, in February, suggesting that Romney is vulnerable among male voters. //
I think a lot of men are shocked by this war on women, too. Plus, Romney is not trustworthy.
Men have sex too and I’m sure they would prefer not to have to worry about the risk of pregnancy with each encounter. The Republicans are dumb not to consider that. Given that a good number of them are engaged in affairs, you would think someone would have thought of that. Oh well, let’s hope it’s too late to correct.
So after going through all the photos and watching the vids of today’s EGR, I realized how much these girls have grown up. I wonder if PBO will be doing ‘Daddy-Daughter Dates’ with his girls and if so when? A friend of mine started going on Daddy-Daughter dates when she was 14. She said she loved them. They continued till she was 17 and went off to college but her dad would still take her out for special date nights once in a while.
That sounds so sweet.
oh oh oh….I know the answer to the question: For $100 Chips…Who is Collegekay?
Collegekay, I am SOOOOOOOOOO pleased for you. I watched the video and you looked amazing! What an experience meeting the wonderful Obamas, it is so amazing, and thank you for volunteering, these events could not happen without people like you.
Oh dear….maybe they should have investigated their choice for Neighborhood Watch captain a little more….
