Helloooooooooooo taiping1
Okay then.
Congrats taiping, but Mr. President is really looking and smiling at moi in that pic.
Hahaha. In your dreams.
Ay yi yi. That one is suitable for framing. Wonder if Mr. dotster would go along with this one above our fireplace, poster sized and elegantly framed of course.
Poor Mr Dotster – have all his photos been taken down?
DAMN.
Are you okay there TrumpDog?
This will last me for weeks. Thanks!!!
Hi
POTUS is looking great
First? first!!! Good day with TOD and OFA chugging a long. The little train of ordinary people who won’t be stopped, not even by Rive and Koch billions. The power of hope over fear, community vs YOYOECONOMICS.
Congrats taiping1!!!!!
Wow, congrats, how fast that gray hair has been appearing with PO…shocking to see him without! We all should never forget 2010, get Congress back, then rapidly repair, then PRESS ON.
Ordinary people, and, yet, so FABULOUS!
Obama-Biden 2012!
… and congrats on first!
The campaign event coverage will probably be on CSPAN. They’re usually good about covering those events.
Sixth?
Speech!! Speech!!
It is with true humbleness that I come before you today. and so on and so on.
They are laughing at me! Is my zipper unzipped? Am I a Romney?
I don’t think they’re laughing at you Japa (although, yes, your zipper is unzipped – get it sorted). I like to think they’re applauding your refusal to give up even though it looks like you’re doomed to always finish around sixth. Everyone loves a trier, this is why these people – and us – love you very much.
enthusiasm gap ! sorry japa, you lose.
Bravo, japa21, etcetera.
Looking GOOD Mr. President! I think he may have picked up a few pounds recently? Wearing it well. I’m trusting that he’ll get plenty of love in the sunshine state today.
Once again, I have written a comment on a thread only to find out, as soon as I post it, that Chips has a new post up. So, since I am love with seeing my words put into a place where millions will read them, I repeat them here.
And a warning to Chips, I may be sending you something later that will expand on one of the things I say here.
Yes, the numbers look good. Yet the campaign is anything but complacent. They know the Republican nominee is going in with 45% of the vote, no matter what. The only thing that would reduce that number is if two things happen. The first is that the Republican base is so demoralized they don’t vote. The second is that Dem voters come out in historic numbers.
Conversely, if the Republican base does get out there and vote and enough Dems figure PBO doesn’t need their votes as he is going to win any way, that 45% goes up, perhaps sufficiently enough to change the results.
I think it is important that we work on the “be part of history” by casting a vote for PBO and all down ticket Dems. Let’s face it, even if PBO wins but the Dems don’t take back the House and maintain the Senate, nothing will get done for at least 2 years.
Also, the only way to undo so much that has been done at the state level is by getrting those legislatures back in the hands of Dems. Turnout will be crucial up and down the line.
Dems have a chance to make the Republicans basically irrelevant for decades if they come out strong this fall.
Let’s help make that happen. Having the President’s back means more that getting him re-elected. It aslo means giving him a Congress and state legislatures to make good things happen, not just prevent bad things from happening.
New post everyone.
Kidding.
This is the bit that scares me: “if the Republican base does get out there and vote and enough Dems figure PBO doesn’t need their votes as he is going to win any way, that 45% goes up, perhaps sufficiently enough to change the results.”
But I’ll just trust – hope – that come November everyone will know what’s at stake and will get out there to vote. That’s why I liked that ‘Guard the Change’ line PBO used a while back, I still think it should be used often, so much good work would be undone if these people got their hands on the White House, held on to the House and/or won the Senate. It’s a terrifying thought.
Looking forward to your email Japa.
Amen to that! We have to make sure people understand how much they have benefitted from PBO’s initiatives and how much worse EVERYTHING will be if he is not elected with a solid Congress behind him. Even people who are so ‘disappointed’ are going to have to be persuaded that at least they need to think about SCOTUS and who they want nominating the next vacancies.
I’m with you 1000%. I think there are enough down ticket votes at the local and state levels that Dems know they have to win. Many of the things that have outraged us in the last few years – women’s rights, gun laws, senior and indigent protections – have illustrated that.
I just saw the national OFA volunteer leaderboards for all the dimensions of volunteer work and they are astounding. Believe me, nobody is going to let this thing slip away. We have boots on the ground and they are working very, very hard registering voters, engaging volunteers and putting them to work. It’s very, very impressive.
It is astonishing to go into a local OFA office on a Saturday afternoon and see how laser focused those volunteers are at building support for this years elections. They don’t follow and can care less about the hair-on-fire episodes of cable tv. Instead they work like there is no tomorrow on re-electing PBO as well as the local Democratic elections. I wish I could spend more time helping out but since I still need to eat and keep a roof over my head I’ll just have to do what I can when I can.
Every single effort helps tremendously because it’s contagious. There’s a lot of grunt work to do. The blue states are making inroads into the red states. The momentum is building and I think it will only get better as time goes on. This last RW idiotic doofus move to slime women really hit a nerve. People like Ryan and Rubio are energizing Dem Latinos and seniors and the horrific Trayvon tragedy is reminding all of us that we must remove the most egregious people and practices at the local level who let this sort of travesty happen. Voter suppression tactics is infuriating all who know how long it took to achieve these rights. We are not going to stand by and watch this country go down that path.
The numbers right noe are almost meaningless IMO. Fair or not, this is still 90% about the economy, and god knows this country is stupid enough to fall for Romney. We should not ignore the worrying economic signs of the last couple of weeks and should stay highly focused on GOTV.
Right noe?
Okay.
For Dr. King, the right to vote was sacrosanct and foundational.
So long as I do not firmly and irrevocably possess the right to vote I do not possess myself. I cannot make up my mind — it is made up for me. I cannot live as a democratic citizen, observing the laws I have helped to enact — I can only submit to the edict of others.”
For Dr. King, the right to vote was sacrosanct and foundational.
It is the very essence of our social contract. Free elections create legitimacy. They imply the consent of the governed. He knew that unfair elections laws did not just hurt minorities or the working poor, they rendered hollow the very essence of American government.
It’s a message that’s as true today as it was then. The 47-year old Voting Rights Act has stood the test of time, but there are new obstacles to the ballot springing up in today’s America.

Pressssssssssssssss On!
Any news on march fund raising numbers? Jovie is a wash-out on this.
Hello TOD. I have been too pre-occupied to read and comment, and from the looks of the threads, it would take me a few days to catch up. I did glance at Hachiko’s recent comment, so would someone advise me if the site for donating to her cause is still in effect, and thank you in advance. Had to pay a couple unexpected expenses but I can donate now, preferably via my credit card and not my debit.

Thank you kindly

And thank you kindly as well
Red state, Mississippi is number 1 in teen births. Not a surprise.
Just a quick thought. It appears that sometime in the next few days Chips will get her 9 millionth hit. I suggest we have a little pool to pick the exact day and time, and the person who gets closest gets a prize. As to the prizwe, well, since collegekay has already had the fantastic opportunity of meeting FLOTUS and the girls and actually speaking to PBO and (from my view the most important) being hugged by FLOTUS, the phone call she is going to receive from PBO should instead go to the winner.
I don’t think so….. We can find some other prize.
Agree. After collegekay talks with PBO, she may go off to change the world! She’s already on her way. Let’s back her chance – she earned it! Congrats again, ck!
You do realize I said that as a joke.. you do don’t you.
I was looking for the smiley face and there wasn’t any so I wasn’t sure. Plz forgive me for ever having any doubt.
I am in. Friday, the 13th.
If I win, PBO better call me on ISD.
I’m sure collegekay won’t have a problem at all with you unilaterally giving away her phone call.
lolololol
PBO arriving in West Palm Beach: http://www.wpbf.com/news/south-florida/Palm-Beach-County-News/Watch-Live-President-Obama-lands-in-WPB/-/8815578/9258880/-/y2m9d0z/-/index.html
Thanks JER, you’re a master at finding these live links!
You are very welcome.
JER comes through again.
A thought occurred to me this morning after listening to news radio. This is regarding the economy. I saw that orange-glo negatively blamed PBO for his policies, yet gave no credit when jobs numbers were doing better. I don’t tweet, but for those of you who do, the absolute main response to any rethug who impugns PBO on the economy should never, ever, ever let them get away with the fact that they “promised” jobs as their main agenda in 2010, but have thwarted most efforts for a healthy recovery. Why is so much time spent arguing about these freaks except for their abysmal non-record on job creation? Everybody knows, historically, where they are on social issues and ideology (though in their case I call it idiotology). There should be a drum beat so loud, and as consistent as the beating of our hearts and the breaths we take, in an incessant call for jobs. It’s on their doorstep, because PBO has performed brilliantly thus far, and they staked their elections on it. Never let them forget.
I HEARD AN INTERESTING STATEMENT TODAY IN BIBLE CLASS…THAT ‘GOD HAS ALLOWED SATAN TO COME TO AMERICA.’ I FIND THAT INTERESTING SINCE SATAN HAS ALWAYS BEEN HERE IN ONE FORM OR ANOTHER…OR DO I NEED TO RECOUNT ALL OF THE EPISODES OF SLAVERY,GREED,RACISM AND MATERIALSM THAT HAVE ENJOYED THEIR HAPPY HAUNTS HERE. OR IS THAT STATEMENT POINTING TO MY PRESIDENT…I HOPE NOT…THE BUSY AND BAD PLAYGROUND WAS IN BUSINESS LONG BEFORE HE GOT HERE. FUNNY…HOW PEOPLE USE OTHERS FOR CONVENIENT SCAPEGOATS WHEN THERE IS A CULMINATION OF CAUSES FOR AMERICA’S PROBLEMS AT THIS TIME. FRANKLY, I FIND IT TO BE QUITE SAD.
AM OFF SOON FOR TRAINING FOR OUR HOMELESS MEDICAL CLINIC TO OPEN TOMORROW. WE EXPECT AT LEAST 1,000 HOMELESS TO UTILIZE SERVICES THROUGHOUT THE DAY. PLEASE PRAY FOR STRENGTH FOR SUE…THIS IS GOING TO BE A LONG ONE…:)
Sue, I hope you voice what you just said to the class.
Where do you find the strength? You are an amazing woman.
1993:
This should come as NO surprise, but Huffyfluffy has emoprog Matt Taibbi’s article about how the JOBS act sucking as their big bold headline. I guess the news has been so positive for President Obama and bad for Republicans, that Arianna just HAD TO find an emprog oped on how President Obama is a sellout to banksters and to liberals.
You should look at the politics page and Howard Finemen’s article….it is also laughable…
Wow, one anti-PBO hit piece after another, the site is beginning to make Politico look balanced. No wonder I never visit any more, pitiful.
$10.00 says he will be on Hardball stuttering and stammering later today..blaming it on his ” Sources “
Why? Why do you go there and give her the click? I hate this b**** as much as I hate Romney.
I saw Taibbi on Countdown before it crashed and burned…..he said he want to be the ” Leader of the Occupy Movement”
I don’t care to hear anything Ryan have to say. No thank-you.
What did Bush say??
Media overhyping. He repeated that he believes in refraining from criticizing current administration, he sees himself as a “statesman”. Later on in the speech, without mentioning PBO by name, he expressed his support for tax cuts for the wealthy—the “Bush tax cuts”—-duh—the old “job creators” reason again, failed to mention that the “job creators” fail to create jobs.
I see George Clooney is hosting an Obama fundraiser at his LA home—-$40,000 will get you in the door, 150 guests expected.
Hay George, I’ll be right there.
I’m in! Oh, wait. How much? You go, George!
George W. Bush: ‘I Wish They Weren’t Called The Bush Tax Cuts’
Former President George W. Bush in a speech on Monday said he wishes his name weren’t attached to his administration’s broad-based tax cuts. “I wish they weren’t called the Bush tax cuts,” he said, according to CNN. “If they were called someone else’s tax cuts, they’d be less likely to be raised.”
Well it aint the poor peoples tax cuts since the majority of it is going to the very wealthy. He’s the one who wanted it and his party shoved it through sooooooo…..whether is it’s the Bush Tax Cuts or the GOP Tax Cuts, it wasn’t paid for and it increases the deficit.
If anyone is in or near DC, there is an event coming up with VP Biden on April 17th.
Tickets are starting at $44

Afternoon Chips and TODville!

Quite, quite magnificent!

This is SWEEET!!! All he needs is the new “NOT A REPUBLICAN” sticker!!
So, PPP polling NC has Robney ahead.
But, Brad Woodhouse said the sampling size for Indies, in that poll, was 10.
Again, why are these pollsters fucking with the sampling size?
Yesterday, it was the Michigan sampling size that was fucked with.
Interesting!
Was that also PPP?
Here’s a beach pictorial rebuttal—check it out

Chips please delete the link I just put up.. it has my info
The people on teevee are apoplectic over whether Santorum is going to withdraw from the race this afternoon. Who cares?
Seriously. I guess it deflects the spotlight from Mittens. They are in such deep denial.
Huh??
Insurance experts say there may be a misunderstanding about President Barack Obama’s health care law among members of the Supreme Court.
It could cloud the courts’ deliberations, leaving the impression that the law’s insurance mandate is more burdensome than it actually is.
The recent oral arguments left the impression that some of the justices and the lawyers appearing before them believe the law does not allow consumers to buy lower-cost, stripped-down coverage to satisfy its controversial requirement that most people carry health insurance.
In fact, the law provides for a “bronze” plan that costs less than comprehensive coverage. Several insurance experts said that the bronze plan is analogous to catastrophic insurance sold today.

THANK YOU.
And they’ve decided to voice this now? God.
I’m sure this is old news here, but so glad the Marine who posted anti-PBO sentiments on his Facebook page will receive an other-than-honorable discharge, which will follow him around the rest of his life:
http://articles.cnn.com/2012-04-06/justice/justice_marine-obama_1_facebook-page-gary-stein-illegal-orders?_s=PM:JUSTICE
Truly, I’d feel this way even if his current Commander-in-Chief were GWB.
Of all the things he this hateful birther posted on his Facebook page, this little gem:
In a January 26 post to the Armed Forces Tea Party Facebook page, Stein called Obama a liar. Two days later, he said the president is “the ‘Domestic Enemy’ our oath speaks about.”
Yes, and we all know it isn’t our President who’s hurting us domestically or in any other way! Arggggghhhhh.
obama 2012
I like the way you think
BOISE, Idaho — Idaho’s only black state lawmaker says she received a hand-addressed membership solicitation from a national Ku Klux Klan organization that she believes targeted her.
State Rep. Cherie Buckner-Webb says that childhood memories of a cross burning on her lawn were rekindled last week when she opened the application to join the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan.
The Boise Democrat says she was more surprised than disturbed.
Buckner-Webb served one term in the Idaho House before announcing her candidacy for an Idaho Senate seat. She says the mailing has bolstered her resolve to fight prejudice and intolerance in Idaho.

This country makes me sad…..
I haven’t been on line for several weeks – my Dad passed away almost two weeks ago and with funeral arrangements, travel back to Wisconsin and taking care of his financial details has left me too busy to check in. I found several letters to the editor of our local paper that my Dad wrote regarding his strong belief in liberalism and taking care of all to give each a better life. To the end he was a strong supporter of our President and was proud of being able to cast his vote for him. He definitely was not one of those elderly white guys who vote for the other team. I shall miss him so.
From a quick glance at the photos and articles, it appears that while I was not able to see current events or hear how PBO is doing, that he continues to show he’s working hard for all Americans and doing it with that wonderful smile and great grace.
Off to more paperwork – lots on my plate. Best to all TODers.
I’m very sorry for your sad loss. It sounds like he was a wise and wonderful dad.
Thoughts and prayers to you and your family during this difficult time. Stay strong and know that we are praying for the best for you.
Oh blongdegurl I am so sorry to read of your loss. My condolences to you and your family. Your Dad sounds like he was such a wonderful person.
Blondegrrl, I’m so sorry to hear about your Dad. I would frame those wonderful letters with a photo of your Dad, it would be a beautiful tribute to his memory and decency. Look after yourself.
I’m so sorry for your loss. He sounds like a man who is an inspiration to us all.
I’m so sorry to hear that, blondegrrl. Remember to breathe and put one foot in front of the other. You dad sounds like he was a wonderful man.
Oh blondegrrl, I so understand how you are feeling right now as I lost my dad March 9th, 2012. It aches so much, but I’m getting through it and you will do. It’s nice to focus on the good times, and your great story about your dad voting, is just the thing to help you do so. Thanks for sharing, and I am so sorry for your great loss.
Betsy – thank you so much for your kind words. I am so sorry for your loss as well – it’s hard to think we won’t have any more conversations with our Dads, but I know the memories we have of them will get us through this.
New post everyone:
http://theobamadiary.com/2012/04/10/palm-beach/
Good Morning all you O’s!!!! Another great gettin’ up really windy day in Chicag-O!! Santorum’s campaign is saying to stand by for an annoucement later this afternoon. The work to the media was to ‘be sure you have your pens ready’. Hmmm, wondering if they’re going to annouce that he’s staying in the race at the same momnet that PBO is scheduled to speak? If he was leaving the race it would seem that they wouldn’t preface news llike that with fanfare.
Is Santorum quitting?
Yup! It’s official! He is quitting!
Lol! Lmao! Now, if only Gingrich would quit, then the media could only concentrate on the President.
My goodness, all of the media pushed Santorum out, which was pushed by Robney advisers. Unreal!
