I’m sure Beyonce is expressing her sincere thoughts as an African American woman. Especially since Michelle OBama is the FIRST African American First Lady. Her expressing those thoughts shouldn’t be ‘disliked’ in any way unless you walk in her shoes. Just my 2 cents.
I never said or implied that she’s not sincere. In fact I actually used the word “sincere” to describe her letter. The first sentence says more about me than it does about Beyonce. It’s MY opinion. I made that very clear.
I just wish she would have used YOU instead of U since it’s a hand-written note. I get the Twitter-Speak, and texting shortcuts… but this is a hand-written letter.
Tally, I agree. We need to get back to the fundamentals of letter writing. I love the fact that she took out the time to send a handwritten note instead of “tweeting”, but that “U” stuck out to me as well.
Late though I am, I don’t understand why so many think this is a letter TO FLOTUS… apart from tthe last paragraph, of course? I would have interpreted it as a letter/note to a third party, then out of the abundance of her heart B. just added some heartfelt thanks to MO. Seems to me MO is not the primary, intended audience. BTW, I agree with B (who might have been writing the letter to me).
For me that first line was too loaded with the use of ultimate and strong AA woman. Ultimate is too subjective and the term strong AA woman brings out too much crazy from wingnuts that troll sites like ours looking for something to get worked up about. But of course, this is my opinion, and like it’s been said: “everybody’s got an opinion and everybody’s got a butthole, and most of the time they both stink!” . No offense was intended.
Yep. Ann and the Rom team can milk it all they want but they will find it difficult to tie Rosen’s comments directly to the Obamas. They were smart to condemn the remark early on and I think beat the Rom team at their game.
you are too quick. I posted something in the last thread that I wanted people to see, but I’m not going to bring it up to this thread, cause in that comment, I was saying to Keep It moving, so I’m gonna just keep it moving.
Ok,
so I had my phone interview with the recruiter yesterday.
The call lasted about 22 minutes here are the topics we discussed.
1. how did you hear about the job/why did you choose…/why are you comtemplating leaving DFW.
2. what would you consider your best assets/where do you think you could improve
3. when/how did/would you handle a situation where: you had a disagreement with your super or mgr/ you had a disagreement with co-worker/had to help a doctor, nurse, patient with a problem that arose in the lab.
4. She asked about my certifications and my education, my licensure, my eligibilty to work in US, proof of citizenship, etc.
Her last question was if I had any minimum pay requirments and if ya’ll remember, I explained to her about wanting to make the same as I do in DFW or as close possible to what I make, but obviously only if there was an offer made.
she asked aobut my references, I told her I provided the requested 5 [(2 mgr: my lab manager when I was a student who is still a Lab Mgr, and my PRN lab mgr who was extremely happy to to a rec; my 3 other ref were from 1 current and 2 former co-worker who I am on great terms with (good friends actually).] I told her that I would be happy to provide ref from my current mgrs only if I am offered the position.
She asked me if I had any questions, and since pay was my biggest and she brought that up, I asked her when the position needed to be filled (she wasn’t sure, she just had basic info on the position, and had to confer with lab mgr for further info) and I asked her how long before I’d hear anything else. She said that she would forward my info to the lab management along with my answers and my minmum requirements and then from there the lab management would be contacting her if they wanted to take my application furthet.
she also mentioned that she “did not have a long applicant pool” for the position, but I couldnt’ understand if that meant that they would be looking for a larger pool or not and I’m not sure if not having a “long applicant pool” is a good thing or bad thing.
So all in all, IMHO the interview went pretty well. I think I did pretty good and she seemed to be engaged and not bored or skeptical of my answers.
So wish me luck and give me good vibes that everything falls into place and that the pay scale falls into place and that I am the best candidate for the job.
I’d like to thank everyone for their advice in the last 2 days too.
If Romney continues to put this upfront, then it just makes it more about Romney’s women problem that they will try to milk this for all it’s worth they only have about 1 more day to milk this but then they have to choose to continue to talk about job numbers, POTUS in Colombia or this non-treversy, which just puts Romney’s women problem front and center.
Ahhhhhhh! What a lovely note to our FLOTUS. It reminds me I’ve been meaning write and express my appreciation for the Obama/Biden agenda and our lovely FLOTUS AND SLOTUS too.
I’m sure as a new mother Beyonce spends a lot of time thinking about the world her little one will inherit. What better role model than Michelle Obama of hard work, dedication, compassion, courage, strength, grace and beauty! OK…I made myself stop with the alcolade. All of our ancestors are smiling.
If anyone asked me if there was anything I did not like about the letter (and no one did), it would not be use of “U” for “you”, that does not bother me. What I found confusing though is it opens with “Michelle”, so you would think she is writing to Michelle. Then she says “She is the Ultimate example etc. etc..and I get confused. The opening is to Michelle, then most of the letter is about Michelle and then in the final paragraph it is once again to Michelle. Having said that, I did like the content.
Beyonce’s letter is how most people think and write these days. They are always in “tweet” mode. The fact that she thought it not robbery to write when she could have tweet is so kind of her. It is so hard to sit at a dinner table and communicate even with grown folks let alone young people who have all this technology available to them at their disposal. I am not bragging or complaining…..I am jus saying, welcome to the 21st century is what they constantly feel the need to share this evolution with me. They are surprised to know that I am all for it.
I could kiss her for writing. It is hell trying to get young people to send a Thank You note to a relative or friends for graduation, birthdays and other special events. I am still waiting for two brides to acknowledge monetary gifts form last year. And when I do get a note of any kind, it is usually the Mother’s handwriting. What do I expect when there are e-mails invites being sent for parties and formal occasions.
Right about now, I would accept a pigeon express from those two thoughtless brides. P.S. the food was not that great!
Go Beyonce.
Lucky ba…rd.
LOL
I remember this pic. Big Beyonce fan here. Sweet note.
Love her, love him, love her shirt.
Congrats amk on #1!!
I don’t care for the first sentence – but otherwise a very supportive and sincere letter from one of PBO’s biggest fans
What’s wrong with the first sentence Hopefruit?
It’s too trite. But that’s just my humble opinion.

Don’t mean to be the Letter DIva but … come on!
Tally, I agree. We need to get back to the fundamentals of letter writing. I love the fact that she took out the time to send a handwritten note instead of “tweeting”, but that “U” stuck out to me as well.
Cosign, amk. What a delightful note. AND congrats on being first!
Congrats!! What a great letter from Beyonce.
And from start to finish
I love you FLOTUS!
Good west coast morning Chipsticks

Wow – a love letter from beyonce to FLOTUS

Good morning TOD fam! Hopefruit2, I agree with you, the first line, meh, but otherwise, a really cool supportative letter!
what is the problem with the first line,,,enlighten me
there is no problem with the first line.
For me that first line was too loaded with the use of ultimate and strong AA woman. I agree. Love FL Michelle!
I love it very well written! I couldn’t agree more.

Nice, love it.
Classy.
You betcha FLOTUS is classy.
SO love FLOTUS. All class.
And that should be the end of it. Retweet this far and wide and it will be on Miss Ann to make more of it and not come off badly doing so.
Yep. Ann and the Rom team can milk it all they want but they will find it difficult to tie Rosen’s comments directly to the Obamas. They were smart to condemn the remark early on and I think beat the Rom team at their game.
FLOTUS is graceful, and gratetful. Ms. Ann is a beotch. Can’t compare.
So true Mrs.Obama, so true.
So sweet. What a beautiful heart felt letter.
Dang chips,

That sounds great Lamh, the very very very very best of luck! Keep us posted.
I’m sending up prayers for you, Lamh
The “long applicant pool” remark sounds like they weren’t able to find enough qualified applicants for the job. So less competition for you.
Yeah, that was my thinking too.
WONDERFUL NOTE FROM BEYONCE’ AND FLOTUS DESERVES EVERY WORD OF IT!..SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!
Sweet note from Beyonce, in her honest expression. Needs no analysis, as it’s from the heart.
I just love the letter from Beyonce to FLOTUS. It is like I could have written it myself to FLOTUS.
Okay time to move on and end this nontroversy once and for all:

Love this message and agree with her 110%.

Just a beautiful note from Beyonce to our First Lady.

Beyonce is a doll. She is so sincere in her admiration for the Obamas.
