Thanks Chips, have a great evening.
That’s right! I’ve got those pins from 2008, just sent a few to my sister-in-law! Thanks, you know I love that picture, I’ve got to get a poster made. If not for Lily & others like her, where would we be?
USA – @MittRomney @RepPaulRyan @AnnDRomney all support Fed & State legislation that is HARMFUL to WOMEN & CHILDREN. That's the issue. #OBAMA— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) April 12, 2012
Moreover, these are the types of questions Ms Ann D Romney should be being asked:
Hi, @AnnDRomney – wondering if you support State-sanctioned RAPE of pregnant women given that that is now a Republican Family Value?— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) April 12, 2012
Hi, @AnnDRomney, your husband supports @RepPaulRyan proposed legislation that drastically reduces food assistance to children. Do U Dig it?— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) April 12, 2012
Hi, @AnnDRomney, demand Rush Limbaugh & Fox #NEWSTAINERS apologize to First Lady Obama for their racist hateful insults & btw, how's Seamus?— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) April 12, 2012
Dang Bob, Seamus too? Lol! :-).
NOT okay, Bobfr. This is a divisive issue that pits women on women: DO NOT FALL PREY. Just leave Ann Romney out of it and focus, FOcus, FOCUS on the policies that Romney and his party espouses that hurt women. FLOTUS, herself gave us the template on how to address this issue.
Re-posting my reply from the last thread:
And Thank YOU, pamelabrown53! You hit the nail on the head: they are trying to divide women. PBO’s big lead among women scares the bejeezus out of the Romney camp, and they and MSM are trying mightily to drive a wedge into that consensus group.
It’s not about Ann Romney at all, not really. It doesn’t matter that she’s not your typical stay-at-home mom and has no idea of what it really means to struggle. It’s about pitting “career women” vs “stay-at-home moms.” Let’s not help them!
Ex-fuckinglootly-spot on, a night owl. This is NOT about Ann Romney but the ability of the repubs to USE Ann as a poster woman to divide and peel off women voters. I say we remain focused on the big picture. “Carreer women” vs. “stay at home moms” is THE wedge the wingers and their MSM accomplices are aspiring.
I have to disagree. Ann Romney herself, along with many of the GOP women – Ann Coulter, Bitch Malkin, et al, ALREADY began the Femme v Femme insanity YEARS AGO.
Ann Romney & her Tweet is just pushing it further.
Ann Romney have ZERO idea how fucking fortunate they are to EVEN HAVE THE CHOICE to be a one-paycheck family. Not to even mention the ease with which Ann got to do her “mothering/stay at home” thing with her STAFF at all her HOMES.
Mitt & Ann are incapable of having ANY CONCEPT of what it’s like to be poor, homeless, w/out healthcare, hungry, w/out retirement savings, or even living paycheck2paycheck? NONE. They strapped their DOG TO THEIR CAR ROOF. These people are missing EMPATHY DNA.
That’s how I see it, Tally.
Look , this is not about being right and fighting in a cage match, I AGREE with Tally’s last paragraph…so what? It’s an emotional response that doesn’t consider the cleavige of woman against woman,. This piece of shit kerfluffle hurts us. We’re assisting the repubs. with following the shiny object down an alleyway.
The main road has nothing to do with Miss Ann or Miss Becky. The main road is keeping the women coalition together.
the dividing women thing isn’t gonna work and it’s a dumb and unrealistic idea given all the shit Reptards have done to women. I think we are all looking at this myopically. One woman said something snide( no matter how much we agree with said statements) about another. PBO’s campaign rightly rebuked it and Miche threw ice water on it by saying “all mothers work hard and all women deserve respect.” Elizabeth Asshat from The View can get as upset as she likes and so can all the other idiot reptard women, it won’t make a difference. This is tabloid news now, the real world is still happening outside my window. This shit will blow over by next week.
Lisa, it seems to me lately that the R’s seem to be playing their songs off-key, like old tinny pianos that haven’t been tuned. This so-called battle between between working moms and stay at homes is a chestnut so old it smells. Women today (heck even in my day) don’t have abstract choices about home or work, they have bills to pay and that means work or starve. Sure women get torn up inside about the pressure to do right by their families as well as their jobs, as PBO said about Michelle. This is a fact of life and most women simply knock themselves out giving everything they have. As you said, this is the real world outside your window.
The R’s have deluded themselves that women who are working and raising families or dealing with young children have the time and luxury to resent each other. I think most women rushing home from work to make dinner or worn out from a screaming toddler would simply say , Who cares? to this whole issue. You have to have a pretty elitist world view to think you could stir women up over a topiclike this. It just misses the mark by a mile and sounds like something a bunch of men thought up in a windowless room.
It will blow over for sure. And then they will try something else and then something else until November. But Ann R has never had it hard. Never had to go back to work before the 6 week check-up. Never had to try to find a baby sitter at the last minute and have to take your son to work and leave him in the olunge with his toy trucks. Never had to work Christmas and every holiday because you needed the overtime. So she can’t relate to women struggling to make it from one paycheck to the next. Using her cancer and MS is a cop out. Lots of women had to go without medical care and died from those diseases. She got t he best care available.
Suggest you re-read the tweets.
I retweeted them all. It’s time we stopped ceding memes to Republicans. To frame tbe issue in terms of how many women do not have the luxury of the ‘choice ‘ Ann Romney had is precisely the point. I don’t agree with the knee jerk response from the campaign
I see why the PBO campaign had to take the High Ground. Absolutely. Doesn’t mean we have to. Fuck that!
I read the issues you covered twice and retweeted to all my friends.
I agree….The First Lady’s tweet…did just that…
you gooo Bob !
Nice Bob!! Yes rising 5 children is very hard my wife and I had 5 as well i would have loved for my wife to stay
home , but it was very hard, and impossible so my wife had to work as well Ann Romney had 5 children and she
stayed at home , but that was her choise, BUT i am sure that Ann Romney had Nannies, gardeners, drivers. and many
maids and all the money in the world. So Mit and Ann how they can possible understand? that people that do
not have TONS of$$$ as to the people that have to really work hard for a living? and NO we do not envy Ann Romney
for having a lots af money.
Totally correct, Mel.
Moreover, the point of my tweets was not about whether Ms Romney stayed home with her children or with her wealth, as I’m sure you and others realize.
1. Are you in favor of State-sanctioned rape of pregnant women;
2. Are you in favor of denying hungry/starving children and their parent/parents nutrition;
3. Are you in favor of the endless racist, hateful slandering of the First Lady of the United States;
4. Are you in favor of animal abuse;
5. …. etc …
Are legitmate questions for ANY spouse of ANY elected official at the Federal, State, County and City level because those are current, real issues in the United States of America circa 2012.
Ms Romney is actively campaigning for a Presidential candidate who has unequivocally supported the most horrid social policies one can imagine and has evidenced his cruelty to not just any animal but the family pet.
If she is not prepared to answer those questions, she should stay home (and, yes, she is fortunate to have several options), do as much dressage as she wants, and enjoy her life.
But, the moment she opens her mouth, or tweets or in any way participates in the campaign she is responsible for ever word that comes out of her mouth and ever act she performs because she is actively attempting to influence Americans to support her and her husband’s (totally distorted and enormously unfair) view of what America is and what they intend to do to make America a plutocracy that exists solely to expand and protect her’s and her family’s wealth and the wealth of their ‘friends.’
Those are Romney/Ryan/Koch/Norquist/Bush values and the evidence is vast that that is an accurate statement.
USA – @AnnDRomney staying home with the kids is NOT an issue. The issue is she is CAMPAIGNING for a PLUTOCRAT & avowed #WarriorOnWomen #Mitt— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) April 12, 2012
Bobfr, I retweeted each one of your tweets because I totally got what you wrote and ms. ann put herself in the public discussion by not only making that remark but actively campaigning for her husband whose policies are detrimental to everyone beneath his wealth radar. If she can’t stand the heat, stay out of the chef’s kitchen. I appreciate President and First Lady Obama addressing the non-issue of Hillary Rosen, even though they should NOT have had to do it. Now if willard and ann had the same class they would TELL the media, their super pacs and surrogates that family members are off limits and to respect the First Family in the same way….never happen though.
You’re right, Bob. Whatever role Ann Romney chose to play in her life is her business and I personally don’t find her interesting enough to care about her choices or her wealth. Presidential campaigns throughout history have been littered with wives of wealth and privilege and nobody thought a thing about it. But it is and always has been an issue of character. A gracious women would have acknowledged Michelle’s statement, just as Michelle acknowledged Laura Bush when she supported our FLOTUS during the days when the press when jumping on everything Michelle said. Women are being mistreated, abused and marginalized by Republican politicians across the country, including her husband. That she has never uttered a world of sympathy for women or expressed one gracious comment says more about her than all the reams of assets in her husband’s many bank accounts.
Precisely, Jackie, precisely!
So true. Money doesn’t buy happiness.
Where did everyone go?
Hey, you’re first!!!
Congrats. I’m sure a wonderful reward will soon be gifted to you by dear Chips :)
Thanks, & thanks for the picture Chips. Win 2012 & fix this war on women, what is th world are they doing? I just feel something bigger is brewing.
Still on the old thread I’m guessing. Congrats on #1!
Thanks hopefruit2 (what’s the picture of?) Have a great afternoon!

I think that is the best idea I have heard all day!
Yeah – two mid 1990s old cars here – one of them loaned to the OR State director of OFA for the campaign…
Well done, Judith!! Am sure the OR OFA folk are very grateful for your generosity.
I checked in with the everibbon site just now, and it looks like they’ve already exceeded their goal of $3,000 toward Hachiko’s trip to Maine!
Hi Joan.. I checked it late yesterday afternoon & it was gone, so I figured we hit the mark earlier in the day :) So happy for Hachiko!
I got an email from Trayvon’s family thanking me for signing a petition asking for Zimmerman’s arrest. Here is the good new–2 million people had signed the petition, now that speaks well for our country!
I got one too. Yes, even the international community is on board with this.

Oh STFU ..close your pie hole and go sit down one side.
Ok I give up, Twitter doesn’t work for me today, I tried this morning, tried just now….I always have the same message.”twitter is loading slowly”.
Can someone please send a tweet for me? I’m fuming after reading the tweet from the Catholic League that Gobrooklyn posted in the other thread:
A tweet from the Catholic League:
“Lesbian Dem Hilary Rosen tells Ann Romney she never worked a day in her life. Unlike Rosen, who had to adopt kids, Ann raised 5 of her own.”
Oh boy……. utterly vile hate-filled scum, that’s all they are.
Okay, let them thrash.. Babies are put up for adoption WHY? when a woman has no birth control choice, and for her own deeply personal reasons cannot face abortion option… does anyone with half a mind understand that while abortion may be a painful last decision, giving up a baby may be much much more agonizing… For life. Or having a baby and being a single mom, without help, low income, no health care, never being able to give your child the same opportunity as others with better meams can do? Let them thrash, they will tear themselves down through the exposure of how they really think. Love you guys, so so busy today.
As an adopted person who has recently found out a lot about my biological mom I understand the agony a woman goes through when making the excruciatingly tough decision to give up a child at birth. In most, if not all cases it is the most selfless and loving thing a woman can do for a child especially if their circumstances are dire and the prospects for the child would be unbelievably difficult. I have a huge amount of respect and love for the lady who gave me up all those years ago to two of the most amazing, loving people in the world who wanted a child more than anything. I am so very lucky to not only have two parents who I adore, even though we do have our differences at times, but I was born to one of the most selfless women in an extremely difficult situation and who loved me enough to give me the chance of a good life. She was very young and her family sent her across to England to a relative and was told not to return until the baby was ‘dealt with’. There is a lot more to this but some of it is too painful to go into.
Sorry for the long post, when I began commenting I had not intended it to be my ‘life story’ but to reiterate Pamela’s comment about the pain a woman goes through when choosing the agonizing option of putting up a child for adoption.
The comment above is Sam UK Obama Supporter, my user name has changed it’s self again!!
So glad you still love and respect your birth mother. Also glad you were lucky enough to have a loving supportive addoptive family. Every situation is different and most women make the best decision for themselves. God bless you.
OMG. Really? If so, this is typical right-wing-nut overreach. In their zeal to demonize, they’ve managed to turn Rosen into a sympathetic figure.
Someone needs to ask Willard if he agrees with the Catholic League. Does he think that lesbian mothers less loving and hard working? Are adoptive parents somehow less legitimate? I think he needs to weigh in.
So let’s see CNN and MSNBC demand that the Romney camp condemn the Catholic league for their full on display of bigotry.
Don’t hold your breath.
Think Progress as an article on it….
Conservatives Attack Hilary Rosen For Raising Children As A Lesbian
So let’s see, the Romney camp are saying that Hillary Rosen is an Obama adviser, which is a lie! Waiting for their reaction on that comment from the Catholic League….or the media?
Bunch of hypocrites, it works both ways.
I’m not. But voters are taking notes..
That is just a terrible and a disgusting condemnation of everyone who has opened their hearts and homes to adoptive kids, including my daughter and son-in-law. The Catholic League should be ashamed and shamed for this horrible, heartless statement.
I am telling you, my president will come back strong & hard when he defends Mrs 2 Cadillac’s right to choose between being a stay home mom, equal pay for equal work which her lying President Wannabe opposes. Willard you haven’t seen nothing yet, you are running way behind my President when he hasn’t landed a hand on your filthy Lying phony campaign. Good luck because you are going to need it.
Absolutely, Me4obama, the president will pick his venue to respect all women and focus on what Romney’s ploicies will do to hurt ALL women. The Romney camp, with the aid and abetting of the MSM and some of our own willingness to be sidetracked, has NO IDEA what a pro can do. Let them dig, froth and obvuscate: PBO will not be swiftboated.
By the time he’s done Ann Romney will be voting for him. Going around the house chanting “4 more years!”
hahahaha! From your lips to god’s ear!
lol it’s possible.
If that’s not proof that CNN operates at the behest of racist RWers, I don’t know what is:
Mark Nejame a #CNN analyst was contacted by zimmermans ppl for taking case but as an analyst he suggest OMara to Zimmerman family— (@lovelyladypa) April 12, 2012
Keep in mind that “Professional Black Friend” Joe Oliver was also once a CNN reporter.
Chips, thanks for the title of this current post! We need to get back to the real issues, not some manufactured bs from that statement Hilary Rosen said. I mean, Willard’s camp is so desperate!
From what I gather, even Ann Romney seems to be in agreement with what Hilary Rosen said. This right wing nontroversy will blow over by the weekend by the latest, possibly before then if Mitt makes yet another pathetic gaffe.
WASHINGTON — Ann Romney may believe that focusing exclusively on raising children counts as work, and the majority of Americans may agree with her, but that’s not how the federal government sees it.
As far as Uncle Sam is concerned, if you’re poor, deciding to stay at home and rear your children is not an option. Thanks to welfare reform, recipients of federal benefits must prove to a caseworker that they have performed, over the course of a week, a certain number of hours of “work activity.” That number changes from state to state, and each state has discretion as to how narrowly work is defined, but federal law lists 12 broad categories that are covered.
Raising children is not among them.
According to a 2006 Congressional Research Service report, the dozen activities that fulfill the work requirement are:
(1) unsubsidized employment
(2) subsidized private sector employment
(3) subsidized public sector employment
(4) work experience
(5) on-the-job training
(6) job search and job readiness assistance
(7) community services programs
(8) vocational educational training
(9) job skills training directly related to employment
(10) education directly related to employment (for those without a high school degree or equivalent)
(11) satisfactory attendance at a secondary school
(12) provision of child care to a participant of a community service program
The only child-care related activity on the list is the last one, which would allow someone to care for someone else’s child if that person were off volunteering. But lest beneficiaries get carried away with their charitable activity, it does not apply to married couples in some states. Connecticut, for instance, specifically prevents counting as “work” an instance in which one parent watches a child while the other parent volunteers.
THIS x INFINITY.
Last media poutrage was the Bishops!

RE: The Catholic League’s disparaging comment about Rosen. Taken from previous thread:
isn’t the Catholic League one overweight white guy living in his mother’s basement with his blow-up doll wife named ‘Mary’ aka Marishka shipped straight out of a Russian sweatshop?
Being a SAHM/D is fine. Most people don’t have a problem with it and most people would love to do it but can’t afford to. That’s the issue. Unless I marry a doctor I’m pretty much going to be a working mom and I’ve accepted that because that’s how it is. I just want to be doing something I love. My only beef so far with Ann Romney is that she’s fake (kind of a big one). She refuses to acknowledge just how privileged she is and continues to think she lives like the average American. News flash your slimey husband is worth 250 million dollars. And how creepy of her to say she wants to strangle one of the reporters, like really?!? And you want to be First Lady. GTFOHWTMFBS.
HAHAHAHA,,,i figured this one out….smilin
It’s often the case, though, that the cost of childcare prevents both partners in a relationship from working outside the home, so it’s not always a choice.
And in lots of cases mothers or fathers just want to raise their own children, rather than handing them over to minders – so they make sacrifices to make that possible.
Equally, there are lots of mothers and fathers who have no choice at all, both having to work outside the home to make ends meet, even if one or both would prefer to look after their kids themselves.
And in other cases, parents choose to work outside the home, they find it more fulfilling.
My only point in all of this is that we should respect whatever decisions people make, or have sympathy for them when they have no choice at all in how they live their lives.
More than anything, I just wish women would stop being their own worst enemies and stop attacking each other’s choices. I’m blessed, I have a job I like – but not in a gazillion years would I ever regard it as more important than raising and looking after kids. For me, women who do that full-time are the most selfless people on earth – and, often, they get nothing but contempt from other women who work outside the home.
Beautifully said. I wish I had your gift for the written word.
Well said Chipsticks. I come to this issue from both sides …. for the first 4 years of my son’s life and the first 6 months of my daughter’s, I got to be a stay-at-home Mom. Then our financial situation forced me to to go back into the workforce; I was still breastfeeding my daughter (and continued to do so – very difficult and creative). I so did not want to have to. But … and this is a big one, I was lucky in that my mother was living and she needed some extra income: she became my babysitter. To go off each morning and leave my children with their Grandmother made it so much easier. When other women talked to me about their childcare situations, I would tear up and tell them that I was sorry they had such hard choices to make and that I was lucky and I knew I was and I wished they could be so lucky. I would never disparage a woman for being a stay-at-home Mom. It is hard work. And having a job, or a career, then going home to meals, laundry, children’s baths, homework, PTA meetings, Little League ball …. all of those things are hard too. Even with the help of a wonderful, loving, caring Grandmother.
If Mrs. Obama had said anything with the word strangling in it you’d never hear the end of it.
Rosen Statement: ‘I Apologize To Ann Romney’
Hilary Rosen released the following statement ahead of an appearance on CNN Thursday afternoon, apologizing to Ann Romney and clarifiying her statements from Wednesday night:
“Let’s put the faux ‘war against stay at home moms’ to rest once and for all. As a mom, I know that raising children is the hardest job there is. As a pundit, I know my words on CNN last night were poorly chosen. In response to Mitt Romney on the campaign trail referring to his wife as a better person to answer questions about women than he is, I was discussing his poor record on the plight of women’s financial struggles …
“As a partner in a firm full of women who work outside of the home as well as stay-at-home mothers, all with plenty of children, gender equality is not a talking point for me. It is an issue I live every day. I apologize to Ann Romney and anyone else who was offended. Let’s declare peace in this phony war and go back to focus on the substance.”
very gracious on Ms. Rosen’s part.
In an ideal world, this would put a lid on this nontroversy. But I know better.
I like her response. I am sick of the word “faux” however. Let’s just say “false”. “Faux” is a cute wall treatment; it can even by trendy. “False” describes it exactly. It’s a false war against women.
Axelrod says congrats to Robney for the 1 year anniversary of Robneycare-

‘Poor’ for the Moneys would be, living in a palacial house without car elevators, having $249 million instead of $250 million, going to the doctors instead of having their doctors make home visits. ‘Going hungry’ for the Money’s is going to a 4 star restaurant instead of a 5 star one.
*****palatial****** yikes
Tally how could they? I do not think they hung around with poor people if ever, and we do nto dislike Ann Romney
or hate her because she is very rich we, dislike her husbands policies specially against women, children and poor
I dislike her for lying about knowing what it’s like to struggle like poor people do. She has NO FUCKING IDEA. Her “struggles” have no basis in reality in comparison with MOST people’s.
Exactly. He who feels it knows it. She has never known real struggle. Selling your stocks while you are a young couple is not struggling.

Like so many other flaps we’ve been through, this Ann Romney one will be gone and forgotten. Can all of you even remember the upsets we’ve hyperventilated about? I can remember only one…Jodi Kantor, and that is gone and forgotten, this one will be too.
One thing is obvious, however, from this hullabaloo: Ann Romney is very thinskinned, and if she is going to play in the big leagues…..she never has before, she is going to have to develop thick skin. I am sure many more things will be said about her, but I bet this is the last apology she gets. She’s out there now, she’ll have to get used to this. What if FLOTUS went on youtube or wherever and demanded apologies…..she’d be doing it all the time. So, all I can say is “Grow up Ann, get over it . You are lucky to have had the choice. Most of us didn’t.”
I had no opinion of Ann Romney before this. NONE.
Now I hate her for the insensitive, condescending c^nt she is. Her Tweet was insulting to 99% of women on the planet. Even the stay at home mom’s like mine. Period.
I totally get why the PBO Campaign and Hilary took the High Road. Absolutely. Nice job.
Doesn’t mean I have to. Doesn’t mean I have to pretend I like these monster scünts who continue to set my sex back to the Bronze Age EVERY SINGLE FUCKING DAY.
FUCK. THEM. And FUCK THIER LIE THAT THERE IS “NO WAR ON WOMEN.” FACTS DISAGREE WITH YOU.
I’m so upset I can’t even differentiate possessive from plural. DAMMIT.
LMAO… the right wing are now demanding that President Obama give Ann Romney a call because of what Hillary Rosen’s comments.
Unlike Rash Limbaugh, Rosen offered a genuine heartfelt apology, whereas Rash Limbaugh apologized for his “poor choice of words” towards Sandra Fluke and he doubled down on his sexist remarks. The right wing continue to demonstrate how thin skinned they truly are… this ends up being a win-win. Though I initally was upset at both Rosen’s word choice and Axelrod and Messina’s knee jerk reactions, this whole kerfuffle just ended up backfiring against the right wing. It just demonstrates how they are grasping for straws.
My hair is on fire.
Somebody please throw a bucket of cold water on Tally!
Sandra Fluke is a young student who is not running for office and did not thrust herself into any political campaign. Ann Romney is a 63 year old woman with the full support of her husband and all his wealth, all their super pacs, the RNC , Fox , CNN etc and the right wing echo chamber who is out campaigning. Grow up Mrs Romney.
Their circumstances are not comparable.
Which is why Axelrod’s and Messina’s reaction was good. It also set a bar for the future. I am not sure if the RNC would have blasted Donodue’s comments about Rosen if the campaign hadn’t come out last night.
Of course, in going after Donohue, the RNC put itself into a position of condoning a lesbian single mother of adopted children. Whereas, the campaign’s response put them in the position of defending all women.
The GOP are completely immune to any “bar.”
They are the epitome of “I know you are, but what am I?” toddler speak.
Romney campaign states that PBO will go after Romney’s MORMANISM, which has NEVER happened, EVER, while Romney himself goes after the POTUS’ religion, and the insane suggestion about wanting to “establish the religion of SECULARISM.”

The right wing can go have a whole stadium full of seats and enjoy a steaming cup of STFU.
Wolf Blitzer has Rosen on right now taking her to the woodshed for what she said. It’s appalling to watch. I’ve never seen anything like this. He’s talking to Rosen, a woman he’s worked with for years, like a bad child who’s being punished. I’m so pissed off right now. This whole situation is complete bullshit and everyone involved in this deserves a good ass kicking.
Wolf Blister is a Republican apologist, he’s only doing what his Republican bosses at CNN ordered him to do, and I bet CNN drops Rosen ASAP. CNN is becoming the new Fox News!
The way he was talking to her, you’d think Rosen got caught trying to put a hit out on Ann Romney! Like it was some grave matter and he had to pull out his tragic breaking news voice! Just crazy. I know cable news is some bullcrap, but this was one of the worst displays I’ve seen in a long time.
how do we quiet the firestorm…
It will die a painful death on its own.

Vice President Joe Biden said Thursday that he does not agree with Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen’s comments on Ann Romney.
“My response to that is that’s an outrageous assertion,” Biden said, according to a tweet from MSNBC host Ed Schultz. Schultz interviewed Biden on Thursday in New Hampshire, and the interview is set to air on “The Ed Show” Thursday night.
Biden also told Schultz that what’s been called the Republican Party’s “war on women” is real.
The Dems, especially the MEN saying ANYTHING regards to their perceived understanding of WOMEN, need to STFU.
Until they know the first thing about bleeding out of their genitals for 7 days out of every month for 40 years, they will NEVER HAVE A CLUE to know what it’s like. We have to deal with that while DOING EVERYTHING ELSE.
Michelle said it perfectly, without demeaning Rosen.
UPDATE: The Catholic League has responded to the controversy on Twitter: “Glad to know Hilary’s fans are in a state of apoplexy. You’d think she was outed by their hysterical reaction. Get over it and grow up.”
Apparently he considers the RNC to be one of Hilary’s fans.

Cardinal Dolan said on “Face the Nation” Sunday that the scandal was good for the Church because it was encouraging a better quality of men wishing to enter the priesthood in order to improve the Church. No one challenged the evil fool.
Oh, Dolan …. I’ll behave and say not-too-much. (What he meant, of course, is that they’ve learnt how to cover ‘things’ up a little better).
Fuck Dolan and his so call moral fucking authority, he is disgusting pig as Excatholic I am here to
tell Dolan to fuck himself…..
This Hillary Rosen kerfuffle has demonstrated how classy our side is. Hillary Rosen fumbled the ball in wording her attacks on Ann Romney, thus why she apologized (and with more class than ANY of the Republicans who have offered “non-apologies), and IMO Messina and Axlerod fumbled the ball with their responses, condeming Rosen as opposed to publicly shaming Ann Romney who drives two Cadillacs and has to hire maids to raise those five kids. But I can understand why they went for the noble refutation.
Overall, the Democrats continue to demonstrate that they have more class and dignity than the Republicans do, and that when Democrats take the kid gloves off to bloddy the Republicans, they cry bloody murder. Heck it wasn’t even that long ago that Ann Coulter said that it’s time to attack the Obama children, and yet now the Republicans want to hide behind “Family is off limits…”
Eight more long months of this ugliness…
At the end of the day, this has NOT helped Ann or Willard with female voters – which was their hope in the first place.
And thus the bitter wingnut poutrage. Axelrod, Messina, and even Rosen herself deflated this nontroversy in less than 24 hours. The right wing will get back to attacking POTUS on the climb in jobless claims.
“Messina and Axlerod fumbled the ball with their responses”
I love ya nintendowii10, but we’ll never agree on this – I think their responses were perfect, I’m proud of them.
Exactly – they didn’t fumble. If anything, they succeeding in making Ann Romney seem even less sympathetic among ordinary female voters. As Tally said upthread, before this nontroversy, many women who were probably neutral towards Ms. Ann, now hate her with a passion. Thanks to the MSM blowing this up for us!! :)
As am I. As I said before, that is why the RNC responded to Donohue’s tweet like they did.
I think their responses were perfect as well, but I mean fumbled as in a missed opportunity to really shame the Romney campaign… pointing out how Ann needs to drive two Caddies and hire maids to take care of those five kids and really embarrass them. IMO, they should have responded with the tone of “We agree with Ann Romney’s stance on SAHM, but Rosen had a much bigger point… that Ann has never experienced what most SAHM’s have to experience across the country, being that Ann is extremely wealthy, has had to hire maids to take care of those five kids she cares about, and even herself said she doesn’t feel very wealthy. What’s the bigger issue, a CNN pundit’s comments, or the fact that Ann, just like her husband Mitt, continues to demonstrate that she is out of touch?” That to me would have been the much better response: it acknowledges Rosen’s comments, but put more focus on the fact that Ann Romney, like her husband, is out ot touch with and shames the both of them. That was my pet peeve about their responses, a missed opportunity.
Axelrod and Messina don’t need to “shame the Romney campaign.” Willard and Ms. Ann are doing a fantastic job of that all by themselves. And PBO and VP Biden will have numerous opportunities to engage in shaming – on the stump, during the debates, etc. Even today, VP Biden took a swipe at Romney when he asked the audience how many of them had Swiss accounts. We can’t be wasting time and energy lamenting a couple comments made by Axelrod and Messina 7 months before an election. We have better to do – like focus on educating and informing the American people on the President’s policies and plans to move the country forward.
It would be difficult to say families are off limits and then go on to shame Ann.
That’s what disappoints me, they had to take the politcal high road. I admire them for it though, now the right wing REALLY look desperate when they try to attack the Obama campaign for not having any class.
Okay, one more time: The Reptards wouldn’t know shame if it bitch slapped them in the face and kicked them in the ass.
Former Sen. Bob Kerrey (D-NE) has a new TV ad in his returning bid for the Nebraska Senate race. In the new spot, Kerrey pitches himself to voters in this deep-red state as a consensus-builder, who will work to bring together the better ideas of each of the two parties.
“The Democrats are right to cut taxes for working people, and raise them for high earners, while making health care more affordable,” Kerrey says. “The Republicans are right about the need to cut regulatory costs, and simplify the tax code, to promote economic growth.
“But nothing’s gonna get done, if Democrats won’t vote for good Republican ideas, and Republicans won’t vote for good Democratic ones. I’m Bob Kerrey. It’s good to be back. I sponsored this message, because I’m not afraid to do what’s right.
- Excuse ME! Democrats won’t vote for good Republican ideas? WE VOTE FOR THE BAD ONES JUST TO GET MOST OF OUR STUFF PASSED! What’s this clown talking about?
Kerrey is attempting to echo Obama’s bipartisan tone I believe… remember, he’s campaigning to win Ben Nelson’s seat in deep red Nebraska, so I wouldn’t demonize him by calling him a “clown.”
This is the false equivalence that Pres.Obam chastised the media for. Democrats have been willing to work with the GOP over and over and over and over again. This isn’t the same thing Pres.Obama has been saying.
Hey, we agree on something today.
KODIAK, Alaska (AP) — Two Coast Guard members were fatally shot at a communications station on an island off Alaska, officials said Thursday.
Officials said it remained unclear if the deaths at the Coast Guard Station on Kodiak Island were a double homicide or murder-suicide. Capt. Jesse Moore said it was “possible that the suspect remains at large.”
The communications station has 59 staff members and people who want to enter must show identification, said Coast Guard Petty Officer Charly Hengen.
“It is a secure facility,” she said.
The Guard said the identities of the victims would be released after family members were notified. They did not yet know whether the shootings took place Wednesday or earlier Thursday.
The FBI said agents were headed to Kodiak from Anchorage about 250 miles away.
Feel a little sorry for Ann Romney's struggles as a work-at-home mom, but cheered that Mitt will be there to help her after Nov 6th.— Goldy (@YouGiveMeFever7) April 12, 2012
Watch the MSM drop this issue like a hot potato once they realize that it’s not really helping Willard.
“Crooks and Liars” is reporting that Mrs. Willard will not tell Willard how many horses she has. How charming! If I remember correctly McCain did not know how many houses he owned. Things never change.
A CASE STUDY IN FALSE EQUIVALENCE
Thank you Steve Benen for your cleareyed analysis of this political uproar. The fake balance cunard is on full display. There is nothing about this incident that remotely resembles real journalism. The first principle of journalism is to tell the truth. Instead we get lazy reporting that obscures the facts.
Taking the false-equivalence fallacy to the extreme
By Steve Benen
Given the political uproar of the day, it seems like a good time to revisit the subject.
Mitt Romney was losing the so-called “war on women. Badly. Until Democratic operative Hilary Rosen appeared on CNN Wednesday night and seemingly derided his wife’s decision to stay at home and raise the couple’s five boys.
What much of the political world seems to be saying today is that the “war on women” now has two competing counterweights.
On the other hand, we have a media pundit with no connection to her party’s presidential campaign who said something about Mitt Romney’s wife professional background.
Don’t you see? Both sides clearly have a problem here. Republicans were losing the “war on women,” but not anymore.
Steve Benen is jumping the gun a bit here. He doesn’t have any evidence to back up his claim that Rosen’s comments have caused the Democrats to lose the war on women.
Women won’t suddenly come flocking to Willard UNLESS he can sincerely and convincingly articulate to them directly (not hiding behind Ms. Ann) how his policies will benefit them and not discriminate against them because they are female.
Exactly. If anything, the more Ann Romney says, the more out of touch they become.
Ann Romney: "I know what its like to struggle." Really? With what? Which Cadillac to drive today? I doubt it's how to afford your next meal.— Tally Briggs (@bardgal) April 12, 2012
I agree Hopefruit. These pundits are so myopic and feel the need to make these pronouncements without any proof whatsoever. They are not reliable sources of info because they thrive on DRAMA and CONTROVERSY (another ill caused by the 24 hour news cycle and news as entertainment). The statements issued by actual members of Team Obama should remove any steam this nonstory may have. If the MSM can attempt to tar and feather PBO with comments made by a TV pundit who is a democrat, I wonder when the MSM will attach the numerous anti-woman measures adopted by GOP governors and legislatures across the country to Mitt. When will Mitt be required to renounce or support these various GOP sponsored measures? I agree with Benen that this is another example of the false equivalency our MSM must engage in to help the GOP. It is also an example of the MSM mistaking reading GOP talking points for actual news reporting.
“Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. – Jupiter Democrat Patrick Murphy, a CPA and small businessman running in the newly drawn 18th congressional district against Rep. Allen West (R), announced today that he raised $350,000 during the first quarter of 2012. That brings the campaign’s total haul to nearly $1.7 million, with over $1 million in the bank for the November election against West. Murphy remains one of the top ten fundraising challengers in the country.”
Tally, my friend, I am retweeting everything you post on this issue.
Thanks babe. This shit really enrages me to no end!!
What a condescending dick.
Spicer is already walking back his comments, trying to clarify that he did not support same-sex adoption:
@drdigipol: Love it. RNC’s @SeanSpicer endorses #LGBT cple adoption in@HilaryR v Ann Romney debate. http://bit.ly/HM0eT6http://bit.ly/Ibup1H #p2 #tcot
@seanspicer: that is not what i said RT @drdigipol: Love it. RNC’s @SeanSpicer
Please stop. This is a site away from madness. We are playing on their turf now. Ann romney? Really?
When I don’t go straight to ofa, this is where I contribute to the campaign because it is a safe space psychologically….no one watches wolfe B. Please don’t do this by dragging us all back to the 80s. Please.
Not the ’80′s. This reminds me more of the faux poutrage from Karen Whats-her-name who was an advisor to Bush and gave issues like this legs. With the help of apologetic Democrats who fell all over themselves to be nice and fair when they were treated anything but. There’s a line to be drawn for sure but I would prefer we highlight the rest of Hilary Rosen’s comment in context about someone who has not worked is not the best example of someone who understands the struggles of the vast majority of American mothers or even gives a fuck to bother to understand.
We don’t need to emulate FLOTUS. Her position is quite different than ours. We need to fight the false equivalence. The entire sentence that Hilary Rosen said was not about criticizing stay-at-home moms, but about those who do not have the luxury of that choice. The context was Mitt’s saying that the information he gets from his [privileged] wife is good enough for him to foist anti-woman policies on the rest of the populace that he allegedly wants to lead.
I do NOT want to see a return to the wishy-washy Dem’s of 2000. We should know better now. The campaign obviously does not know better. They will not be rewarded for their fairness, but that fairness will be used as a club against them. Find a better way, guys.
Read Hilary Rosen’s ‘apology’. It was pitch perfect, apologetic where it needed to be but highlighting the point she was making to begin with.
And if she had thought a little more before she spoke, she could have made her point much better. This is a tempest in a teacup. The White House spoke up just like we thought the GOP candidates should have spoken up when Rush Limbaugh attacked Sandra Fluke. They aren’t being weak, they didn’t apologize. Push back against the false equivalence by all means, but we need to do it by stating facts, not name calling.
Jason Linkin’s take on RosenGate (Yes, it’s Huffyfluffy, but his take is 100% right on):
Does anyone know when the President will do the interviews with the TV stations..
In one of the interviews he was forced to comment on Romney-Rosen Gate. As always he handled it beautifully.
Or have i missed it
President Obama strongly disagreed with Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen’s controversial comment about Ann Romney, saying today that “there’s no tougher job than being a mom.”
“Anybody who would argue otherwise, I think, probably needs to rethink their statement,” the president told KCRG-TV9′s Bruce Aune.
….. The president went a step further, suggesting candidates’ families should be off limits. “I don’t have a lot of patience for commentary about the spouses of political candidates,” he told Aune.
“My general view is those of us who are in the public life, we’re fair game. Our families are civilians,” he said. “I haven’t met Mrs. Romney, but she seems like a very nice woman who is supportive of her family and supportive of her husband. I don’t know if she necessarily volunteered for this job so, you know, we don’t need to be directing comments at them. I think me and Governor Romney are going to have more than enough to argue about during the course of this campaign.”
thanks…..Our President is truly amazing….
That’s MY President showering Ann praises. I can’t wait the day Romney defends Michrlle will be the end of his campaign. I love you Mr. President.
Yes, very classy. And think of this. Two things have occured here. Because Rosen said what she said Ann Romney has basically been neutralized. PBO will be able to discuss Romney’s wealth, luxuries and all of that without needing to mention Ann, but the message gets across. She lives in a different world than the rest of us.
Secondly, PBO has shown grace and class when presented with this situation, whereas Romney has never even been able to respond except with a “No we don’t you do” response, and that doesn’t wash.
Well the President has always advocated that families are off limits, but was this really necessary for him to acknowledge what Rosen said, already having Messina and Axelrod already refute it?
All this happening while Allan West accuses 80 Democrats in Congress of being Communists and no one dares to call HIM out on it… SIGH!
He was asked about it Nintendo, he responded – perfectly.
He was asked the question. What would you think would happen if he had not answered at all, or said there are more important things to talk about (which of course there are) or came across as if he only talks through his strategist? It’s the difference between POTUS and Romney. when Romney speaks for himself not through surrogates he’s a gaffe machine. It’s obvious he doesn’t come up with anything NOT focus-tested.
In fact doesn’t Romney when asked a question, just walk away and not answer or get’s his aides or surrogates to do so.
BTW, people are talking about Allen West, Hardball just had a segment about it.
Stop playing the Romney’s campaign’s game.
I don’t understand why he acknowledged her remarks either. I don’t get why they always feel that have to give remarks and apologies on everything in the media. I’m done with this topic now.
for God’s sake he was asked a darn question! That’s the diff between this POTUS an others, he doesn’t shy away from questions. If he answers one, it’s because he has a gr8 response for it.
No reporter of any salt today who had an interview with the POTUS would NOT have asked that question.
Heck look how much supporters are making as much of a big deal about Rosen as GOP/RW/R-Money.
Yeah, it was inartful, but the response was quick and decisive, but then Rosen decided to double down BEFORE she apologized!
Alot of supporter played right into R-Money’s game so yeah the reporter asked the question.
Compare this response of PBO to Willard’s response of Rush’s comments on Sandra Fluke. The character and grace of PBO is so above that of Willard’s.
He’s in a different league than these other clowns. PBO is a true gentleman.
I just love him so much.
If I were the Myth Robney I would be silent. Because every time President Obama gets to speak of so-called, “controversial” issues the American people’s trust in him grows, another likable moment for this 2 termer. This is why Myth can’t beat this gentleman, what comes from the heart reaches the heart. Thanks for posting, dear.
Did the President hear the rest of Hilary Rosen’s comment? families are off limits? When has Michelle been afforded the same courtesy?
Then Ann Romney should have come out to say that since POTUS and FLOTUS both respect the Romney’s choice, she also respects the Obamas’ choice and strongly condemns any insults to FLOTUS.
That’s the point though, 57, PBO was displaying a level of class on this issue that we’ll never see from the GOP. He’s not prepared to sink to their levels, which is one of the reasons why we respect him so.
President Obama chooses to lead by example. He refuses to engage in a “race to the bottom”. I commend our President for his grace, class and integrity. The President realizes, as most of us do sooner or later, that the only person one can control is him/her self. Don’t let the behavior of your inferiors make you adopt their deplorable behavior. To those who question why PBO answered the question, that is what he does, PBO has always been his own best spokesperson. In addition, as the swiftboating of John Kerry proved, Democratic presidential candidates must bat down these “controversies” because if they don’t, the MSM refuses to correct the record and will continue to serve as a microphone for GOP talking points.
57and fenmale, do you think the Romneys would do that? I don’t. It ain’t in them. This President and First Lady have never been given the respect do them from those racists from the right.
New post everyone:
Ann Robney trying to be the White version of FLOTUS.
Next thing you know, she will be telling everybody she grew up on the South side of Chicago, back in the Bad old Days, oh and her Dad had Multiple Sclerosis!
They are just trying to confuse the Public!
