Oh Chips your little face below the photo of “Demo” and his owner’s attempt to give him to POTUS as a gift. .. cracked me up. Truly gotta love our fellow Obots around the world. I can just see Demo at the White House helping FLOTUS in the garden ;)

    • April 14, 2012 at 3:19 pm

Sherijr, I’m beginning to have this vision of PBO, having been emotionally blackmailed, arriving back at the White House on Marine One tomorrow night accompanied by the donkey – and Bo greeting them with a kind of a ‘WTF?’ face. And Michelle saying: “You’re kidding, right?” And PBO saying: “What could I do?”

      “helping FLOTUS in the garden”
——- more like eating FLOTUS’ garden! The other day I was watching that episode of Leave It To Beaver where Beaver and his two idiot friends see a baby donkey and decide to buy by splitting the cost three ways. They took turns keeping the baby who broke June’s trellis and ate up her plants. Hilarious!

he’s soooo cute! Too bad PBO really can’t take him. He’d be a good anniversary gift for First Dog Bo. Can you image the sight of Bo and Demo ambling along the WH grounds, getting into hijinks and such? Chewing up the ‘reporter’s’ microphones and biting them on the ass? Oh, I wish PBO would take Demo the Donkey!!!! Oh what fun that would be!!!

Colombian attorney Silvio Carrasquilla is stopped along with friends and his pet donkey, Demo, who he dressed as the mascot of the U.S. Democratic Party, from approaching the convention center where U.S. President Barack Obama was in Cartagena April 14. Obama vowed in an interview with Univision to pursue comprehensive immigration reform and attacked Romney and GOP lawmakers, saying they would oppose his efforts.

President Obama promised to pursue immigration reform in his second term, but said Republicans in Congress may keep him from succeeding.

“I can promise that I will try to do it in the first year of my second term,” Obama said in an interview with Univision set to air on Sunday. “I want to try this year. The challenge we’ve got on immigration reform is very simple. I’ve got a majority of Democrats who are prepared to vote for it, and I’ve got no Republicans who are prepared to vote for it.”

CARTAGENA, Colombia — Close your eyes, ignore the language difference, and you could be forgiven for thinking that the U.S. presidential campaign had come to this antique walled city on the Caribbean.

Or, more accurately, that the U.S. presidential campaign had caught up with an economic debate that has roiled this region for decades — over the merits of national wealth, the role of government in alleviating poverty and the fate of the middle class.

I would say that CNN has spent a good 85% of their entire reportage for the day on the SS detail issue – repeating the same damn thing over and over. During the Press briefing they were only interested in what Jay had to say about SS detail, and immediately cut off the briefing once a reporter asked a question about the substantive aspect of PBO’s visit.

CNN is a worthless piece of crap.

ISTANBUL (Reuters) – Iran and world powers discussed Tehran’s controversial nuclear programme for the first time in over a year on Saturday and, in what Western diplomats called a constructive development given their low expectations, agreed to meet again next month.

Catherine Ashton, the European Union’s foreign policy chief who has headed negotiations for the six international powers including the United States and Russia, told a news conference after a day of talks in Istanbul that they had arranged to meet the Iranian delegation again in Baghdad on May 23.

Saeed Jalili, the chief Iranian negotiator, told a news conference there had been differences of opinion but that some important points had been agreed and that the next talks should focus on arranging measures to build mutual confidence. Iran has been hit by new waves of Western economic sanctions this year.

    PAC TRACK

What and Where are the Super PACs Spending?

    ———————————————–

By Al Shaw and Kim Barker, ProPublica. Updated April 14, 2012, 4:00 p.m. EST

Two federal court rulings in 2010 paved the way for the ascent of “super PACs,” political action committees that can raise and spend unlimited amounts of money on political races, as long as they don’t coordinate with a specific candidate. And so far, they’re spending heavily on the Republican race. This app, part of our long-term investigation into “dark money,” keeps track of where super PACs are spending and raising their cash to influence the presidential race.

The way that Latina women, like Maria Clemencia Roderiguez, keep their names is actually a big advantage when they vote. Under the new photo ID laws, married women whose names don’t match their birth certificate have to bring a marriage license and possibly a death or divorce certificate if they’ve been married more more than once, which is, needless to say, a big hassle. Spanish women don’t have that problem, which will actually make it easier to register Hispanic women. Also those that have families in their native countries usually have US issued passports; those from Puerto Rico almost always have birth certificates because voters are required to show them each time they vote in PR. It will make the Rs sick to learn that some of the people they wanted most to disenfranchise will be able to vote easily. Those having a harder time are the elderly who no longer drive and can’t easily get to a DMV. Irony of ironies is most of this elderly population votes R in my area. Sometimes those unintended consequences can bite you in the rear.

Hi, everyone! Oh, Chips…..thank you SO much for these fabulous photos of the President! Still have the “wet” one on my desktop, but these are running a close second:)

I just a had a great lunch with mtmarilyn and her daughter in law, at Z Tejas…she is WONDEFUL, and I’m so glad that I had the chance to meet a fellow TOD’er. Nice to be able to put a face with a name. They’re off stimulating the AZ economy now, buying things to take back from their family gathering in AZ. She is exactly as I pictured her in my mind to be…..and I know that we will always have a special friendship and we’ll keep in touch. I told her that she missed the CM embarrassment, and made her promise to check it out when she got home.

Time for a nap. It’s that kind of day. Cool and cloudy. I had to laugh. mtmarilyn thought it was funny that I had a big sweater on when I met them for lunch today. She wanted to know if I was cold:) YES! It’s freezing out….the only people walking around with shorts or no sweater on ….DON’T live here! My blood is thin:)

Crossroads GPS gave nearly $4 million to the National Federation of Independent Business, a plaintiff in the case seeking to overturn President Obama’s signature health care law.

The payment of $3.7 million to the National Federation of Independent Business was nearly a quarter of the roughly $16 million distributed to conservative groups by Crossroads, an organization co-founded by Karl Rove, according to the Washington Post.

Crossroads also gave $4 million to Grover Norquist’s Americans for Tax Reform and $2 million to the National Right to Life Committee, the Post reported.

The National Federation of Independent Business joined 26 states in challenging the health law’s constitutionality. A spokeswoman for the federation did not immediately return phone and email messages seeking more information about the Crossroads funding and whether it was used to help mount the lawsuit.

Damn Person Of Interest show! I’m never using my credit/bank/debit card to pay for anymore meals at restaurants where my card is gonna be taken from the table and swiped! What if the waiter/waitress had some type of card scanner to steal your ID or credit card info!!!!

      I love Person of Interest

yeah Person of Interest is a great show. I’ve come to really like it. Even though Jim Caviziel is a RW extreme religious nut there is a reason why he was willing to play Jesus for Mel Gibson. You should check out his wikipedia page. But the show is well-written and pretty exciting at times plus gotta love Taraji!

    Hello Chipsticks & TOD family
I’ve enjoyed viewing POTUS during his trip to Columbia.
That Donkey Dem is a hoot and garnered plenty of laughs here at TOD. And yes, it is a Donkey – not a goat :-)

CARTAGENA, Colombia — The U.S. military says five service members supporting the Secret Service in advance of President Barack Obama’s visit may have been involved in inappropriate conduct and have been confined to quarters. Obama is in Colombia for a Summit of the Americas.

White House spokesman Jay Carney said the incident with the military personnel stems from the same episode involving about a dozen members of the Secret Service who were called back to the U.S. for an investigation into possible misconduct.

Carney referred questions about the episode, which includes allegations that U.S. personnel procured prostitutes, to the Secret Service and to the military.

Carney said the president retains confidence in the Secret Service and said the incidents under investigation, which preceded Obama’s arrival, had no impact on presidential security.

And all the news programs are showing President Obama in Columbia as they report this story, as if it had any connection to him or he was responsible. That is all. No other info or purpose of trip reported.

Thank you Bobfr for all you do to get the word out. THE WAR ON TRUTH epitomizes what is wrong with politics in America today. Facts have taken a backseat to lies, distortions, spin and making stuff up. The absence of fact based reporting is shocking. The media firewall has produced an electorate that lacks the information they need to make informed choices. What is frustrating is that Mitt Romney is essentially basing his entire campaign on falsehoods. It’s really astonishing. The media is complicit in this dishonesty. They are accomplices in this charade. They seem to forget that their first and most important journalistic principle IS TO TELL THE TRUTH.

I wonder if it makes me a West Wing nerd to find it amusing on a very nerdy level that PBO is meeting with a president Santos…

  49. April 14, 2012 at 7:14 pm

Hi Chipsticks and everybody else :),

Just stopping by to say hi. I’ve been trying to catch up on all things PBO.

My Prime Minister is also attending the Summit of the Americas. The Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago that is.

So it’s good to know that we are present there.

Hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend.

I couldn’t leave without leaving something I stumbled uppon:

    Have a great night everyone.

Thank you so much for that Donnna. That’s our guy. He never ceases to amaze me.

I remember when PBO gave the speech on the Romney-Ryan budget he talked about the problem of reporters creating fake equivalence between the parties. And now this clip shows him giving Tweety a bit of truth about him and his colleagues here in the USA. You certainly get the feeling that PBO and his team are pretty fed up with the media penchant for controversy for controversy sake. I am sure the jackals tongues were flapping over this incident with Tweety. But they are more interested in reporting about the SS problem then reporting on the purpose of President Obama’s trip. Seriously, they should be ashamed of themselves.

Hiya Donna, hope all’s well with you. As ever – you’re the video queen. Thank you.

Ladies, I love that necklace that President Santos’ wife, Maria is wearing. I could turn some heads in the room with that one smartly draped on my glowing cocoa butter skin on a warm night on the West Coast with that someone special.

FLOTUS would look elegant with that piece as well. Lovely ladies.HZ
