DEBUNKING THE LIES IS A 24X7 UNDERTAKING (It’s endless)
The Republican Party motto should be “LIARS R US”. Because “DISHONESTY” is the thread that runs through all of the Republican Party political discourse. Whether it’s cable/network interviews, op-eds, speeches, ads, town halls, right wing radio, or Fox the lies just flow with ease. There is absolutely no regard for the facts. Their stock-in-trade is tricks, traps, lies, distorions, doublespeak, and spin. Since they have no agenda, they are trying to use lies as a way to confuse the public. Sadly, the lazy and feckless media is a willing accomplice in this endeavor. It makes sense that the GOP nominee Mitt “Say Anything” Romney resembles the “jon Lovitz” character from SNL.
Precisely, Lh, but what they all did not even begin to understand are US – and our powers to reveal their lies to even the most disengaged, ‘feckless’ citizen, and we are!
Moreover, those of us who’ve been paying attention knew when Nixon emerged that a few very wealthy white folk were not about to allow their control over finance and governmnet to ever go further in the direction set in motion by FDR and significantly boosted by the Civil Rights and Voting Rights Acts. No matter how it might have appeared, since 1968 they have been on an inexorable path to ensure that a white plutocracy persisted.
When Glass-Steagall could be repealed under a Democratic President you knew they were playing for keeps.
They literally stole an Election, via their narrow control of SCOTUS, and ushered 8 years of absolutely unvarnished government of, by and for the wealthy few. They made sure their control of SCOTUS was solid and thought they had the perfect way to purchase elections by engineering Citizens Unitied.
A big chunk of that transfer of wealth being enabled by their launching an illegal war and charging it to future generations of the majority of Americans to pay. The few not paying, of course, are the ones who now, because of avariciouos tax breaks and loop-holes, gained enormous wealth and had the ability to extract an oath that is a total violation of the Oath of Office of members of Congress and candidates for President.
What they did not anticipate was Barack Obama and the social netowrking power that the Internet enabled.
However, their cynicism being so totally infused with racism, they perceived in his Presidency an opportunity for rolling back America to pre-1932. What they thought would be their greatest opportunity ever to drive the final nails into the casket of the Promise of America is also what reveals their inbred, fatal flaws – racism & avarice.
You see, they thought that they could actually effect so much damage to the American economy, with a ‘n….’ as President that they’d be able to destroy Medicare, Social Security, public education, voting rights and an equitable tax structure all in a period of four years by intentionally preventing the economy to recover and that the anger among the sizable number of racists and misogynists would be such that before folk realized what they’d actually done, their deeds would be irrevocable. The net result would be a minimum wage (at best) work force, a really abundant and cheap supply of military recruits, zero regulation of financial markets, subjugation of women, and unrestricted access to national lands and resources to be exploited with zero regulation of toxic and climatic hazards.
What they didn’t anticipate was just how smart President Obama is and how increasingly aware the majority of Americans are to their scheme. The Kochs, ALEC, and their ilk certainly never anticipated the bright lights that are now being shined on them.
In their cynicism, championed by hate-monger extraordinare Rush Limbaugh, they didn’t think women were paying attention to the massive efforts to enslave them. Their cynicisim is so unbounded that for the past 3+ years they are not even trying to hide it their war on women. The same applies to their exceptionally transparent and destructive policies and practices directed at Hispanics. And, of course they hate black people – always have and always will – and denying them the ability to vote, massive efforts to disrupt public education, accelerated foreclosure of homes all share the same core objective – ‘put blacks in their place.’
Now they are beginning to get a hint that they’ve miscalculated and that more and more Americans actually like President Obama for the person he is.
But, that other fatal flaw – avarice – has them thinking that others value money as much as they do and they’ll be able to buy the outcome. They think that with Citizens United all they need to do is pour a bunch of money into hateful advertising on their totally owned propaganda networks and disrupt voting rights and they will prevail. What they failed to realize is that Citizens United also enables Unions and rich folk whom don’t happen to be greedy bigots to participate, big time and in ways, for the Unions, that had been restricted.
What they didn’t get is that WE would realize that that’s all they’ve got – money and a few broadcast channels of hate which we have the ability to completely circumvent. That’s how weak they actually are. They are no match for us if we all recognize, FOR REAL, that we are now the final line of defense between all that is good about each other and our America and these few, actually rather lame, totally dishonest, plutocrats and the #NEWSTAINERS & #KOCHSTERS whom they own.
On 6 Nov 2012, we are going to deliver them a message they should have gotten the last time they tried this stunt, in the 1920s, and this time we are not going to stop until they do not have the ability to destroy America and our planet.
Bravo, Bob. You are the Henry V of our day, able to stir hearts and motivate troops. And above all, you speak the truth that people need to hear. I wish the whole world could read you posts and tweets
WOW! Bobfr, you have written everything that my feeble mind has tried to express. Thank you for this. it is true and one ” righteous ” piece of writing.
I plan to copy, paste, and save for posterity. Thanks again. You have spoken for many.
Well, bobfr, I cannot miss out on this…. Love those Persian rugs… Let’s see, I don’t tweet, so can’t DM, and don’t have a spare 50K as my taxes @35% went put of my account early this morning, but maybe I could put my name into a TOD lottery, and carry the bags from the airport for one of the winners? Just askin’….
And a fine inauguration it will be, Bob. You like Romney, in his fevered imagination, will sit on the peacock throne, receive the golden crown and have dozens of “serving girls” feeding you sweetmeats. Romney’s probably wishing they would start forging the golden corona right now–swearing on an old bible is so yesterday when presidents were mere servants of the people. In his kingdom, people know their proper place.
Romneys Unzipped: They Are Who We Thought They Were
By Angry Black Lady
————————————-
This should come as no surprise to anyone reading this blog. The Romneys are who we thought they were. They are privileged one percenters who don’t give a rat’s ass about average Americans, but who will say and do anything as they attempt to grab the presidential brass ring.
Mitt Romney is a liar. He is a lying liar to whom pathological liars pay tribute so that they might drink from Romney’s Fountain of Lies and thus be blessed with the power to lie as mightily as Mitt Romney. All hail Mitt the Liar!
The following is what will immediately come to mind each and every time Mitt Romney opens his trap:
***Seriously, y’all — Mittens lies so much that Steven Benen over at Maddow Blog has compiled thirteen volumes of Mitt’s lies. Reading through the thirteen volumes is somewhat appalling, actually. Mitt lies. A LOT. Shamelessly.
I’m bringing this over from the other thread.. its a Reuters article that pretty much completely trashes President Obama efforts at the Summit of The Americas this weekend. I’ve already sent it to Attack Watch.. but thought you all should read it, as no doubt it will be a part of the daily tv news spin: http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/04/16/us-americas-summit-obama-idUSBRE83F0UD20120416
Though many of the foreign leaders have different goals than the US I thought the piece was positive towards PBO, especially from the President of Mexico. PBO seems to realize we cannot force our way on Latin America and was listening. This attitude is long over due on the part of the US.
Well, it was fairly comprehensive coverage for a change. With all the differences in agenda coming from the various countries, I expect it makes for difficulty in covering every aspect. But it does present a consistently negative picture for President Obama which may be fairly accurate. It’s kind of like being the most successful in a quarrelsome family who all sort of want to be like you, but know they probably can’t be and push a different agenda.
President Santos of Colombia at the CEO event pushed the idea of the Americas speaking as one voice. Good luck with that. Besides the fact that neither the US, nor Canada and probably Mexico would reject anyone else speaking for them, they’d have a hard time finding a singular voice amongst them save for wanting Cuba to be a member. Rising Brazil has gotten all pouty because they feel they are not being recognized enough. (Wonder if Brazil’s president’s past as a revolutionary fighter might dampen a lusty voice out by the US in an election year.) Argentina is all bent out of shape over the Falklands. And then we have the extreme leftist in Bolivia and Venezuela. Hard bunch to unify.
Re “Romney is facing larger problem with female voters,” April 13
We need to get real about Democratic strategist Hilary Rosen’s comment that Ann Romney “never worked a day in her life.”
Rosen wasn’t saying anything derogatory about stay-at-home moms; she was speaking the truth that Ann Romney has never had to worry about paying the bills, putting food on the table, buying clothes and the cost and quality of her kids’ day care.
Mitt and Ann Romney are in the lucky percentage of Americans who don’t know how hard many in the working class have it. They are clueless as to how financially-strapped families are dealing with today’s crisis.
Hi, @AnnDRomney so you are no different than your phony husband. We sorta thought so but it's good of you to expose your cynicism, as well.— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) April 16, 2012
Ms Armstrong is on target. Ms Romney is not a ‘private person, private family member’ she is a hack, shill, liar, cynic, plutocrat of the first order and couldn’t be more public. As you, Tally, and others noted, it’s perfectly fine for the President and his advisors to take the high ground, but the rest of us need to hold the Romney’s to a searing heat of truth and unrestrained denunciation of absolutely everything they are.
I don’t know what this new mumbo jumbo, trumped up outrage is, but it’s phony. At this point, I not only dislike Mitt’s policies, but I find both him and now, his wife, to be highly unlikeable.
When my children were still young, I would have been “delighted” to have been able to stay at home with them, too — to be there when they came home from school, to feel free to stay home with a sick child without worrying about getting the boot because I was one of those office workers who were, at that time, working mothers. Management was constantly being warned to watch out for them —mothers who will screw up the entire office when they took off work at the drop of a hat if their kids get sick.
This was the 50s and 60s. It was a bit of a disgrace to be a mother and working.
Been there, done that too & have a few T-shirts to prove it. I also remember when working women, married or not, hid a pregnancy as long as possible in order not to be fired from a desperately needed job. I remember in 1966 when I got a new job while my military Hubby was deployed & my new boss said: “Oh good, that means you won’t be getting pregnant on us.” I guess he figured I would not cheat on my husband, a**hole!
Wow; these stories make me more determined than ever that we not turn back the clock on women’s rights. It’s hard for me to fathom why anyone, male or female, would want this country to go back there.
This type of crap went on and still happens to this day but not as blatent due to laws that the GOP are trying to turn back. This lady told me that back in the 80′s as a working couple trying to buy a home in a very good location, the bank made her sign an affidavit that she would not get pregnant in order for them to get a mortgage (she was hispanic he was white). She did get pregnant, worked the whole time and never missed a mortgage payment.
Thanks for going through what you went through so that women like me could have it so much better, Joan (not to mention, opening the world to concepts such as paternal leave so that fathers could re-enter the home, chores, and hands-on parenting as well). I totally agree: we need to keep working towards a world in which all parents have the *choice* which the Romneys had, of one parent being able to parent full-time if that is what the couple so desires.
What I resent about both of them is that they attempt to co-opt the concept of “struggling,” and water it down to some sort of romantic period of “slumming it” without a worry in the world (because if there would have been a major catastrophe, the rich relatives would have stepped up in a heartbeat).
I’m happy that this backfired on Ann Romney, that her phony outrage has been exposed, AND that her opulent lifestyle has been the topic of discussion for days. Because it reminds the country that the issue is not with people being rich: it’s with unacknowledged privilege and how those with that unacknowledged privilege can hurt others (ex: “I’m self-made; you can do it too” when in fact the Romneys are anything but self-made and no one can or should try to do it alone).

Hesitate to wade into SS problem before all facts known, but it is disturbing, as Michael Isikoff reported, that some of those recalled were part of the counter-assault team, those who need to spring into action if there was any pending danger to President Obama’s safety. And also very troubling that Obama’s non-public schedules were found in all the rooms, out in the open, details of his every movement, which is just reckless in my mind. I don’t want those charged with President Obama’s safety out partying all night. We need them to be alert and responsible at all times.
Something similar to this happened before when PBO was in Australia, i.e. his private appearance schedule. This is scarier than I thought; especially with all of the drug cartels in Latin America. (No offense to anyone)
I hope this causes a major crackdown and a more disciplined SS corps. Maybe they’ll get their act together now because the reputation of the whole SS is a stake and hardworking agents won’t like that. Be willing to bet that the presidential detail is run like a tight ship from now on.
This has disturbed me a whole lot. Our Secret Service has stood on a sterling reputation of “I will gladly take a bullet for my President, no matter who that President is.” They have respect & a professional reputation second to none. The behavior of these bad apples has tarnished the whole barrel. These bad actors need to be culled & punished for the sake of all our excellent Secret Service agents who guard our Prez and his family every day.
I would just bet that some of our good SS would like a few moments alone with the jerks who have besmirched the history & reputation of that proud organization. Our SS can’t say: “Semper Fi, Mr President” because that phrase belongs to the Marines but I am thinking that the good ones are thinking that in their hearts.
Those are two powerful Ads. The “What’s Mitt Hiding?” Ad just draws one in and makes one wonder why the hell doesn’t he just release the darn tax returns. His dad released multiple years, President Obama and VP Biden released multiple years. What is he hiding? Excellent Ad.
#ItsTheLiesAmerica FOCUS: McCain saw 23 yrs of @MittRomney tax returns and, TA DA, Googled Palin and chose her – the 'white supremacist'!— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) April 16, 2012
More of Ann Romney’s greatest hits from the 1994 interview she gave to the Boston Globe:
On hers and Mitt’s “struggling” college years:
“Neither one of us had a job, because Mitt had enough of an investment from stock that we could sell off a little at a time…”
“Another son came along 18 months later, although we waited four years to have the third, because Mitt was still in school and we had no income except the stock we were chipping away at. We were living on the edge, not entertaining. No, I did not work. Mitt thought it was important for me to stay home with the children, and I was delighted.”
oh yes….the average everyday joe made it through college selling stock.
Say it aint so: family planning, likely with the use of contraceptives, that the Romneys would like to deprive other women of via Mitt’s plans to take funds away from Planned Parenthood. These people just get better and better.
Mitt and Ann Romney is so out of touch with the everyday middle class people. He is so rich this is how he can say so easy that he don’t care about the poor, he don’t.
Why am I not weeping for all their “sacrifices” as “struggling students?” Maybe because if one of those children needed surgery & they had no insurance, their rich families would have flocked to the rescue. Bite the big Cactus, Ann Robme! You have no real clue what struggling is at all!
Sounds like the Romneys were “slumming it”–a romantic facsimile of hard times which tends to infuriate people who really are poor and don’t see the fun in being poor. Ann Romney should take a cue from the First Lady: she never whines or plays the victim, and she’s ALWAYS quick to acknowledge how lucky, blessed, and privileged her family is.
Blame it on the media embrace of false equivalency.
By David Corn
—————————————————————–
At the start of his remarks, Romney praised the media—while noting he was sometimes irked by coverage of his campaign—and nobly observed that voters will be “informed by your coverage” and will “hopefully…have an accurate understanding” of the 2012 race and the choice at hand, due to hard-working journalists chronicling the contest. But then Romney went on to hurl a series of utterly untrue remarks.
.
.
Romney stood before a gathering of journalists. He made a series of incorrect and dishonest accusations. And he was not hooted out of the room. He faced no penalty for this—just a few slaps from those pesky, fact-checking schoolmarms. He will not be banned from similar forums. The politerati is not up in arms. His campaign rolled on. And this may well sum up one of the fundamental problems with American politics.
I agree anniebella, the title of the article should be “HOW MITT ROMNEY LIES” not “HOW MITT ROMNEY FIBS”. I don’t get the aversion to calling a lie a lie. It’s really silly.
Once again goes back to the corporatemedia “reporters” who are lazy and non confrontational except when it comes to our Esteemed President. Showing themselves for the lowlife they’ve become. Can’t imagine Walter Cronkite putting up with mitt’s shite.
This poor little kid, but I predict we will see this exact same reaction from Myth Robney following the very first debate with PBO, on the world stage. He will be screaming for a place to hide… Until he drops his bag of illusions that he is going to be the next president.
The former SS agent Ron Kessler said the entire agency needs a thorough cleaning out and a new outside director. From what we’ve read that is true! If those agents can’t or won’t to correctly protect this president, they should NOT be SS agents. Get rid of all of them! There are plenty of upright, honest people who could take those jobs! This is not a game……It’s a good thing this was all brought to light before something terrible happened! The agent’s arrogance made him feel he didn’t have to pay….I say bravo to the woman for going to the police! Hubris will bring down people every time!
totally agree carolyn. There should be ZERO TOLERANCE for this crap. I am furious about this. Every American should be outraged. This needs to be fixed immediately. I have so much respect for the Secret Service and the duties they perform. But any SS who can’t live up to the code of ethics expected of them should be shown the door. Period. Full Stop. They can seek employment elsewhere.
Something about all of this, especially after the situation in Canberra, that has me scratching my head … just too bizarre … I have a very hard time thinking the Secret Service is that incompetent …
Very disturbing particularly with all the open threats against the President far less those not stated. See one of the latest:
REALLY? Disturbing – RT @RightWingWatch Ted Nugent @ NRA: If Obama reelected, "I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year."— Carlene L. Black (@CarleneLBlack) April 16, 2012
Is there any evidence that these SS agents don’t like PBO, or don’t care about protecting him? Has this been going on for a long time, or is it just because PBO is president. You’ve gotta think PBO must be very concerned about this for his family. I would be.
Chips, my organisation block Youtube during the day. I remember I could watch videos from another format you usually use, but I am not seeing it anymore. Is it possible for you to also use another format to show videos?
I feel so left out when I can not see what everyone is commenting on.
To be sure, the candidates’ staffs do seem to have bonded in their dislike of Romney. “It was very common for e-mails to be flying around between the Thompson, McCain and Giuliani campaigns,” says the former Thompson staffer, “Saying, ‘No matter what happens with us, we all need to make sure it’s not him.’” The staffer says that campaigns would share opposition research on Romney and offer each other tips on how best to undermine him: “Like, ‘Hey, I saw you hit Mitt on immigration — have you thought about going after him on this issue?” In some cases, the attitude even extends to the top of the campaigns. The night of the Iowa caucuses, after getting a congratulatory call from McCain, Huckabee told the candidate, according to aides: “Now it’s your turn to kick his butt.”
.
.
But such jibes mask more substantive complaints that many of the candidates have about Romney. “What Romney has done,” says a Huckabee adviser, “he’s attacked people for positions he once held. That annoys people. And he uses his own money to do it, which rubs it in.” He’s gone after McCain on campaign finance reform (which he once supported), Huckabee on tax increases (Huckabee countered that Romney’s raised “fees” amounted to the same thing), and nearly all the candidates on immigration.
I would like very much if this type of info could be used to demoralize republicans, especially tea partiers. Especially during and after the Conventions this fall.
I think I’ve discovered the GOP KEY to their campaign: LIE ABOUT EVERYTHING.
- GOP War on Women = “Obama hates women”
- GOP votes to keep GITMO open forever = “Obama fails to close GITMO”
- GOP wants to end Medicare = “Obama hates Medicare”
- President Obama and the ACA give $$ Medicare and to seniors, and closes the Medicare doughnut hole = “Obama defunds Medicare”
- GOP refuses to fund teachers, police, fire, and other public sector jobs including the military = “Obama lays off Americans & guts the military”
- Obama kills Bin Laden = “Bush killed Bin Laden”
- GOP doesn’t believe in women getting equal pay (Lily Ledbetter Act) – “Obama hates women (remember?)”
- The economy is recovering = Obama is destroying the economy
- President Obama has done zero about gun control = “Obama wants to take away your guns”
- Obamacare saves the economy billions & lowers the debt = “Obamacare adds billions to the debt.”
I wish the Obama campaign and the fucking dem surrogates would point out these things boldly and bluntly instead of fucking pussyfooting around it and soft peddling it. Go for fucking broke against this insanity since the fucking media is going to be shills for fucking mehmney till November.
The GOP birthers, baggers and blowhards are so terrified of the “real” President Obama and all of his accomplished that they have had to resort to creating an “imaginary” PBO to run against. It’s full speed down the rabbit hole. They got nothin.
Today Martin Bashir was on fire he had a GOP strategist that worked under Dick Cheney and today Martin asked
her about the comment from Dick about pbo ans she was so full of shit, and Martin did not want any of her BS and told her
what Dick and Gw did when they were on power she looked so pathetic.Just watch the vidio if you can.
@SenatorReid Please ask @SenJohnMcCain what #Mitt's hiding in the 23 yrs of tax returns, you know, the ones that caused McCain to pick Palin— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) April 16, 2012
Hidee Ho O’s!!! Once again, Chicago lives up to it’s name on this great gettin up day, a VERY windy city indeed.
Sooo, when Mitt names his VP, will s/he release her tax returns? How many years? Will s/he say, “after you itty, bitty, pithy, Mitty”
Why are Democrats even talking about her? Whether praising her or trashing her, it’s a complete distraction from the campaign and only gives her more power over the conversation. I’m topped out on her already.
I seem to remember Gallup reporting that the Feb. unemployment numbers were 9.1%, when they were actually 8.3%. I’d take anything Gallup says with a pound or two of salt.
Romney is not leading in ANY poll. That’s why he and the MSM are so desperate. By now you should be well aware that the weekly gyrations of Gallup are to be taken with the appropriate amount of salt.
Indeed. But the most relevant poll will be the one on November 6. And PBO will also be leading in that poll. So from now till then, regardless of the gyrations of the various polls, just keep ya head up and PRESS ON!
Martin Bashir is on the case! I adore his brain and his search for truth and his intense focus on exposing Romney’s and the GOP’s lies. He tore Romney a new one about his open mic moment where he told donors at a private fundraiser that he will destroy the Dept. of Housing and Urban Development, he’ll scale back on the Dept. of Education so he can offer more tax breaks to the 1%. He also tore Romney a new one about his disparaging comments against stay at home moms who are not the 1%. He then tore Ann Romney a new one – in a very sophisticated but blunt manner – about over playing the role of victim in terms of Hilary Rosen’s comments but privately yukking it up with donors about how that was an early birthday present.
Welcome back from the weekend Martin. He’s the BEST.
Yesss and I hope this person trying to give Cheney a heart is paid very well. She’s just gotten several big check marks next to her name in the big book upstairs.
Juleanna Glover who worked for Dick Cheney was just on Martin Bashir and my goodness she’s hateful. Just a hateful morally bankrupt person. Her disdain for Pres. Obama wasn’t political or based on ideology, it was disturbingly personal. Very nasty and very personal. She agreed with Cheney that PBO was an “unmitigated disaster” over and over she kept calling him Obama this, Obama that in this nasty tone. Definitely raised Bashir’s, Krystal Ball’s and Prof. Dyson’s eyebrows. Bashir was disgusted with her and cut her off when she tried to get personal for the 3rd time in a row. He told her point blank that Pres. Obama is and has never been an unmitigated disaster, that 4 million jobs isn’t an unmitigated disaster, saving GM isn’t an unmitigated disaster, ACA isn’t an unmitigated disaster, the growing economy isn’t an unmitigated disaster. He shut her down and left her stammering so badly she made a Freudian slip and compared Romney to Cheney. Good on Martin! He takes no guff and calls out GOP lies faster than one can say Jack.
Chips when the video comes out you’ve got to totally put it up. And also the video today where Martin decimated Romney for his lies about stay at home moms and his open mic moment at a private fundraiser where he said he’ll eliminate the Dept. of Housing and Urban Development and scale back on the Dept. of Education.
She got so flustered and overcome with her hate she was mostly babbling half the time, stumbling over words and names. I thought Krystal Ball was also excellent in retort, making clear that all they have is hate for Obama—–no vision for the country, unless you count getting rid of all govt. agencies—–just hate.
Romney Book: ‘Nonworking Parents’ Produce ‘Indolent And Unproductive’ Children
———————————-
As the presidential campaign has become embroiled in “mommy wars,” a passage from Mitt Romney’s autobiography sheds more light on what seems to be his bifurcated prescription for mothers.
For most women, Romney maintains that a choice to work or to stay at home with the kids should be regarded as equally valid, his campaign made clear last week. But for poor women who receive government assistance, staying home is not an option — they should work. Video recovered yesterday shows that Romney said in January that he wants to “increase the work requirement” for mothers who receive welfare. “Those parents [need] to go back to work,” he explained.
A passage from Romney’s book, No Apology: The Case For American Greatness, elaborates on this. In it, he argues that children of “nonworking parents” will be conditioned to have “an indolent and unproductive life:”
I, also, was on the conference call with FLOTUS. She was great. Got some good questions, and told us what we can say in talking to voters about the true facts of the ACA and his other policies.
Do not think for a moment that this man is a moderate. He is a devout believer in a deeply patriarchal religion and will carry his beliefs into his politics.
Simply because he is skilled at flip-flopping and giving the appearance of not having a spine when it comes to commiting himself to a position…do not be fooled. From a very young age, Willard Mitt Romney was deemed the most likely candidate in the Mormon faith to achieve the Presidency. His Patriarchal Blessing eluded to this divine prophecy – known in the Mormon faith as the White Horse Prophecy.
A passage from Romney’s book, No Apology: The Case For American Greatness, elaborates on this. In it, he argues that children of “nonworking parents” will be conditioned to have “an indolent and unproductive life:”
In some quarters, however, the American work ethic is waning. Some people devote themselves to find ways not to work. Some seem to take a perverse kind of pride in being slipshod or lackadaisical. In many cases, where our work culture has deteriorated, shortsighted government policies share a good part of the blame.
Welfare without work erodes the spirit and the sense of self-worth of the recipient. And it conditions the children of nonworking parents to an indolent and unproductive life. Hardworking parents raise hardworking kids; we should recognize that the opposite is also true. The influence of the work habits of our parents and other adults around us as we grow up has lasting impact.
Wonder what happened to “all mom’s are working mom’s” Jackass
The President’s mom had to use food stamps. Is Romney saying the President of the United States is indolent and unproductive? Romney, who was born into wealth and hasn’t had a job in ten years?
The New CNN poll has Obama up 9 over Robmey.
That us an 11 point difference from Gallup and Fox news poll.
The internals are amazing for the President. Wolfe can’t believe it! Lol!
52-43!!!
Is it really an attack if it’s true? I’m just pointing out the irony of you accusing the media of breathlessly reporting negative numbers when you do the same thing.
The American People don’t like people they can’t trust or relate to. Say what you want about President Obama, like his policies or not, I truly believe 95% of America truly likes him and another 85% trust him; only 52% will vote for him in November, though. No one TRUST WILLARD, not even his own Party.
I completely agree! I was shocked at Mrs. Romney’s comments about Rosen. The American people can also figure out a phoney. Willard’s goose is cooked. The only way he wins is if Christ’s second coming occurs first and he wins only because he is spare the Electoral Landslide that President Obama is going to put on him.
I think the bi-racial factor is greater. The racists will not vote for PBO under any circumstances. Many of the Bible thumpers will hold their noses and vote for Willard simply to be voting against PBO, particularly in the south and midwest.
In an interview with Mitt and Ann Romney Monday by ABC News’ Diane Sawyer, Mitt Romney had two words for President Obama: “start packing.” After that quip, Romney explained that Obama’s “policies have not helped the American people.”
The full interview will air Monday at 6:30 p.m. ET on “World News With Diane Sawyer” and 11:30 p.m. ET on “Nightline.”
LH, I think if you scratch any Republican politician, you find a mean sob. None of them could care less about anyone by themselves and their corporate overlords. They were all born without an empathy gene.
It would have shown alittle class if Mitt Romney had said I won’t answer that. But you can’t show what you don’t have and one thing the Romneys have shown us all that having lots of money doesn’t mean you have class. If Sawyer had asked President Obama a question like that, he would have shown grace, class and not answer it. But oh how I would love to tell Ann and Mitt that President Obama and Michelle Obama will not be packing to leave the White House till 2016.

During another typically intelligent panel discussion on Chris Hayes’ show on MSNBC this Sunday on the Republicans and Mitt Romney out there demagoguing President Obama asking Congress to pass the “Buffett Rule” so that millionaires and billionaires are not exploiting tax loopholes that allow them to pay far less of a percentage of their income in taxes compared to average working class citizens out there, David Cay Johnston brought up something I apparently missed earlier this year that he had reported on in January — the fact that Mitt Romney was allowed to give his sons $100 million as a gift tax free, thanks to a tax loophole on “carried interest.”
.
.
As he noted, “Welcome to the wonderful world of estate planning for the super wealthy.” The segment above from Up With Chris Hayes showed Romney out on the campaign trail saying President Obama was trying to “divide America” by asking that the rich like himself pay their fair share in taxes. As their panel of David Cay Johnston, Betsey Stevenson, Tom Perriello and Heather McGhee noted later in the program, that division does not have a fifty/fifty split, since the ones Romney is carrying water for are only the super rich in America and the upper 1 percent.
“That remark may have little long-term effect on women voters,” says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. “By a two-to-one margin, the women surveyed saw President Obama as more in touch with the problems facing American women today.”
Eugene Robinson is a much better writer than he is a talker…i have not seen him live so i cannot say how his presence comes across…
my understanding that it was not The Huff…but one of their columnists who wrote a 10-part series on disabled veterans and their heroic struggles to overcome….
Robney has a big problem, most of his donations are big time Wall street figureheads, especially his Super PAC.
He is the candidate of Wall street not Republicans!
Hahahaha. The CNN/ORC poll was conducted after Hilary Rosen’s comments and Pres. Obama is still decimating Romney. If the election were held today 52% would vote for PBO 43% would vote for Romney. Women even after hearing Rosen’s comments still overwhelmingly support PBO. He leads Romney 55%-39% amongst women voters. Pres. Obama’s likability numbers are still high whilst Romney’s numbers are tanking. Hahaha. A majority of voters say that Pres. Obama stands up for what he believes, only 29% say the same about Romney.
They seem to think women are idiots. Why would a thinking person punish PBO for a random but true statement by some random Democrat. Someone needs to tell Williard and his ridiculous wife it’s the policies, stupid.
Here’s his wikipedia page. I was just trying to find out too. He’s the one who broke the story of the SS scandal. He’s really trying to get rid of this Sullivan who heads the SS now. He’s a conservative writer with Newsmax etc. What set off alarms with me was when he said there very well could be an assassination of President Obama if the leadership is not changed——using shock statements—-wants SS removed from Homeland Security. Not sure what his deal is, but troubling— http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronald_Kessler
Why is Trumka bashing PBO, again? I swear if Dems aren’t forever shooting themselves in the foot! Oh, this is from an article by Greg Sargeant at WP today. Check it out, if you feel like it.
I am too emotionally invested in this election. If it weren’t for Chips, Martin, Smartypants, Benen, I don’t think I could get through a day of this election season.
So what I am about to write comes from my perspective as a Christian and as a minister….ordained Presbyterian. Forgive me, but I ‘VE got to get this off my chest.
Nothing is right, nothing makes sense. How can double digit leads for Obama suddenly become a two point lead for Romney, a la Gallup? It doesn’t ‘t make sense.
Why is this lapse in SS behavior not a national outrage? Is President Obama really in good hands with our own SS? Who is asking these questions; if they are not being asked, why not? There were several copies of PBO’s schedule out in the open with these SS folk. Is our president safe ANYWHERE? This would not be tolerated at all for any other president. Everybody would be raising hell!
My rant for today.
Nothing makes sense. How does Gallup have PBO two below Romney, when all other polls last week give PBO DOUBLE DIGIT LEADS?
Why are so many lies tolerated in our political discourse? Why did Michelle Bachmann get so much time to spew her foolishness on national T.V.? Why is David Gregory even on T. V.? How can the disastrous Dick Cheney given any kind of platform to call PBO’S administration
“an unmitigated disaster”? How many pundits and thinkers, besides MARTIN, will have the courage or conviction to roundly denounce this statement.
Why is the ACA in jeopardy, if we are a “Christian” nation?
I’m a Christian, and nothing that I’ve heard from this Republican party sounds Christian to me. The party’s views, Paul Ryan’s Ayn Rand based budget, the Catholic Bishop’s Who cover for the pedophiles in their church and then turn and bash President Obama – they offend me. They all make a mockery of what it means to be Christian.
The malignant hatred and demonization of a man -PBO- who literally turns himself inside-out to look out for ALL the people Is what horrifies me and makes me weep with indignation and helpless outrage.
Is this country actually considering giving the presidency to a man – Mitt Romney-who has no redeeming political quality other than his health-care law which he has forsaken for political expediency?
Is this country seriously going to elect a man – Mitt Romney-based on lies, hatred and a callous disregard for women, immigrants, the poor, the elderly, brown and black- skinned people and 99% of all Americans.
Have greed and racial hatred, hypocrisy and mendacity finally and completely won the day in this country? Have honor and fair play, honesty, compassion and truth, concern for all people been totally obscured by hatred and greed.
Nothing makes sense anymore. The MSM can’t be trusted, an entire political party has lost it’s collective mind, the other party weakens itself with it’s constant internal bickering.
And one man constantly speaks to what good there is left in this country. Time and again he reminds us about being our brothers’ and sisters’ keepers. Time and again he speaks to what is good in his allies and his foes. He is gracious, compassionate, realistic, tough and tender. He doesn’t lie to make a point. He tries to give every man his due respect. He does what he has to to protect his country.
He attacks no man personally. He stands up for the wives and children of those who are attacked. He is hated because he wants all people to have healthcare, because he wants the rich to do their part to help the rest of the country. He is criticized for saving the auto industry, mocked for being black, his accomplishments minimized or overlooked. He is painted as other, dangerous, in over his head, and a whole lot of other preposterous crap. This man who has accomplished so much even in the face of such onerous and deplorable opposition. This is the man who has created more jobs in three years than Bush did in eight, the man who got Bin Laden, who forced BP to pony up, who got rid of Ghadaffi without the loss of one American life, who makes other nations smile upon the U.S. Again.
I am not politically astute enough to know where PBO made mistakes. I am sure he has; he’d be God if he had not. I already have a God, so I don ‘t need for PBO to be another one for me. Furthermore, as a human being, he is entitled to mistakes as I am.
But he has been and continues to be the single most effective representative of what it means to be a Christian in public life. He
does it without claiming to. He doesn’t go around toting his bible, for men to see. He is inclusive and isolates no one. He does not slander or put people down, not even his enemies. You can’t do much better than that.
The man who leads like a Christian, thinks like a Christian, loves like a Christian, and suffers like a Christian. This is the man that our
“Christian” nation wants to unseat?
I sincerely pray that love conquers hate in the election of 2012, for in reality those are the only two choices we have.
It doesn’t make sense. And, God help us, if he is unseated, we will all pay a terrible price, even most of those who will cheer at his defeat. The prospect of that defeat is too sad and demoralizing, not for me but for America.
We should pray that love conquers hate in the election of 2012. Because in the final analysis those are the only two choices facing us in 2012.
Eve, wonderful post. Thank you. I am asking many of the same questions. If I had had a Presbyterian minister like you I possibly would have never left the church.
I can’t express my specific choice for a candidate at church, but I can and do address the values as I understand them. There are many far better ministers than I, trust me. All we can do is what we can do. In the meantime, thanks for the confirmation that I am not alone in my thoughts. Your reply means a lot.
Dear eveingeorgia… you are no way alone in your outrage on the behavior from everyone from Secret Service judgement/ professionalism to the media republican bias.. it is discouraging and very hard to swallow somedays.. but I believe most of us see it and recognize the BS from the facts. I’m an atheist.. and I’m right with you. We will win. Love & truth will outweigh hate and racism.. we will all do our part to make it so.
Thanks, Sheriji! Some days I take all this stuff rather personally. I ‘m afraid I don’t possess PBO’s calm demeanor. it feels so good to come here and share my thoughts and not be lambasted for how I feel. And yes, we will fight for what is right. Obama/Biden 2012
eve, I take it very personally too.. I despise the lies and the derogatory commentary. I do not watch pundits because I literally yell at them from my living room and they never listen to me ! We’ll get through this….as long as POTUS can take it.. I’ve decided I can too.. and so can you. We’re stronger together~
Eve, a beautiful statement. Thank you. The hatred in this country has been deliberately stoked by the GOP for decades. We have to rise up and say NO in the loudest voice ever or this country will not have another chance. Like you, I will work and pray that love overcomes hate.
I am a Presbyterian myself, and I have had a great struggle of faith for the past year or so having the same questions you raise. It is so hard for me to understand what God is doing or allowing in all of this. I just don’t get the hate from these “Christians”. I find it scary.
Betsy, I am no biblical scholar, not by a long shot, but I do remember a verse that says something like “No weapon formed against us shall prosper” The other that comes to mind is “we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
Not to just cite platitudes and bible verses, but I have to remember that this has never really been a peaceful country. We’ve been spared a full-fledged war on our land, but have been attacked for doing vicious things to other nations. We have a nasty habit of killing (or trying to…) political leaders with whom we disagree. We have systematically discriminated against people of African descent, African Americans and anyone who appeared even a little bit “sympathetic” to black people, we’ve banned women from owning property and voting, we’ve locked up Chinese and other ethnic Asians just for being Chinese. Hell, WE STOLE A COUNTRY from Native Americans and told them where to live on their own land.
As a country America is not nice to people. For some reason though, there are those of us we still prevail. We keep striving, we keep marching, we keep pushing. We have the audacity to believe that we CAN live up to the goals of our slave-owning, not all that religious founding fathers.
So, I’ll end this rant with a quote often attributed to Dr. Martin Luther King, that was actually said by 19th century abolitionist and Unitarian minister, Theodore Parker.
“I do not pretend to understand the moral universe; the arc is a long one, my eye reaches but little ways; I cannot calculate the curve and complete the figure by the experience of sight, I can divine it by conscience. And from what I see I am sure it bends towards justice.”
Betsy and Isonprize, there is nothing better than pulling up a chair and sharing thoughts and ideas, fears and concerns and general newbie-newbies at this place called TOD.
Betsy, I sympathize and empathize with your struggle. But like Isonprize we do have strong Words to guide us. Thanks, Isonprize for propping me up. I thank you for taking the time to remind me of what I have allowed myself to forget.
I love those words from MLK. THANKS so much isonprize for sharing this and to eveingeorgia for the initial post. I really appreciate your comments. I teach all this US past history to 8th graders, and then in the summer to 11th graders, but this seems more personal to me. The attacks on PBO seem very full of personal hatred, but then it was that way for JFK too. I find it hard to find an equivalence for any Republican candidate that Democrats have hated after Nixon’s Southern Strategy. It does feel good to write how I’m feeling and I really appreciate this back and forth discussion and your ideas. It is a real help. Thanks.
Any time! And thank you for teaching the children. THAT’S where it all start. Either way, either love or hate, it starts with the children. You teach love and love WILL prevail. I have to believe that. Seriously.
What you do is so very important. THANK YOU FOR TEACHING THE CHILDREN!!!!
I love it; they love it when I literally preach about fairness, the American ideals about everyone being the same no matter the race, color, etc. The kids often tell me I should run for president, but as I was born in Holland, grew up in Canada, I reminded them I couldn’t run, then they tell me to run for Congress, but then I tell them I’m too old, and I want them to run in my place. I also urge them to be voters and if they don’t, I will come back to haunt them, LOL. I really feel that this is where I can be the most use in my life. If I can inspire one kid to believe in these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal..”, and run for Congress to make laws more equal for all Americans, I would feel so happy.
Thank you Eve. You are definitely not alone. It sometimes feels like we are living in upside-down world, where right is wrong and wrong is considered right. It’s hard to believe that so many can be so misled and I feel sorry for them. I suspect the answer to many of your questions is that we are all victims of the divide and conquer technique. I don’t attend church but I do offer up prayers that good will triumph over evil. It’s comforting to know that there are people of faith like yourself who follow and teach true Christianity.
Even – you expressed everything that I have felt or shouted at the lowest moments. But what keeps me going is knowing that there are billions of people in this world who are rooting for good to overcome evil in this election, and specifically, that President Obama wins in 2012 and can continue his important work rebuilding this nation and banishing the dark forces that have been working against the people of this country and the world for generations now. It does seem like the monster of the GOP is just too large, too insidious, too crazy. Two stories keep me calm when I feel I’m going to lose it.
1. Goliath must have appeared that way to David and all who watched that battle. And yet David quite calmly took the tool he had, which appeared all too inadequate, and was able to vanquish that monster.
2. When all were losing their minds with a squabble over “justice” and going crazy, Jesus quietly drew some figures in the sand and the uttered words of wisdom that squashed all those who knew better or were ranting and raving.
President Obama is a human being, and he has said in the past that he has doubts and he has low points, too. But he gathers himself, puts his head down, keeps his eye on the prize and comes out the victor – even when he loses the battle. This is a battle of the magnitude that hasn’t been seen for a long time. As the President once quoted: “Power never concedes without a fight”, and these money-people are clinging to their last vestiges of power with their fingernails. We have to keep fighting. We have to. And while we can let ourselves acknowledge how unfair this situation is, and how stupid so many millions of people are behaving, we have to keep our eyes on the prize and just calmly go about our business to re-elect President Obama.
Details of the settlements reached between BP and the committee of plaintiff attorneys leading the litigation over the 2010 oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico are expected to be filed in federal court today.
On March 2, BP, the leaseholder on the ill-fated Macondo well, and the Plaintiffs Steering Committee reached agreements to settle claims over private economic losses and any health problems resulting from the spill.
But the two documents were only agreements in principle, and few details have been available. Over the past six weeks, attorneys for both sides have been working out the finer points of the agreements, which are expected to spell out what types of claimants will benefit and how they will be compensated.
It is not known how early in the day the settlement agreements will be filed in court.
That is so cool. The people here just freakin’ ROCK. I’m so proud of everyone who jumped in no-questions-asked to help this amazing woman and her dog. Democrats Rule.
Got a text at ten after six with one word “Maine” hope it means she has arrived safely. Will stay up till she texts me again just to make sure she’s there safely.
Does anyone remember Senator Barack Obama telling Pres Bush to “start packing”.. at any point? Didn’t he just talk about Bush’s policies, his wars- the harm he’d literally done to this country and to other countres.. didn’t he always stay professional and leave the personal attacks to the republican fools? Do we remember Senator Obama attacking Sarah Palin as a white racist ignorant fluff? Yeah me, neither.. but here we have Mitt Money being interviewed by Diane Sawyer and telling “Obama” to “start packing”.
You’ve nailed it, Sherijr. Every day Mitt and his wife prove themselves be be ungracious louts. For all the money in the world, they could not buy class and it tells in everything they do and say. What they project is ruthlessness and a core of cruelty and I hope it causes people to recoil in horror. Not only did then Senator Obama never engage in this kind of crude language, he never will. I don’t know what Willard thinks he’s accomplishing with this, but all he’s showing is that our president is a far, far better man than he.
Exactly, what a lout he is. I cannot wait to beat him at the voting booth.. I want to see his arrogance crumble… and all his little surrogates along with him. I want to see the entire republican party demolished in this election.
Especially after the Obamas were so gracious in their comments about the faux-outrage this weekend re: Ann Romney. President Obama and Michelle Obama are leagues ahead of these two grifters in class and integrity.
That is EXTREMELY unprofessional to say the very least. It’s beyond partisian, it’s just plain crass. I would expect something like this from Snoop Dog or Chuck Norris. Not from a Presidential candidate.
I remember when President Obama gave his speech about the Romney-Ryan budget everybody had a cow over the “TONE”. Spare me. This crap drives me crazy. Any time President Obama gives the Republican a bit of truth they squeal like stuck pigs. Their whining and moaning is insufferable. They just don’t like it when he circumvents the media firewall and get the facts out about how extreme they are. They say President Obama was mean. He poisoned the well. Meanwhile, they can never point to anything he got wrong. And of course, the lazy and feckless media will carry this water and ask the same stupid questions about TONE. Chris Wallace did it this weekend when he interviewed David Axelrod.
So I want to see how many gasbags (I’m looking at you Howard Fineman) will harp on the TONE of Mitt Romney’s START PACKING comment. How very presidential of him. What a joke.
Excellent point Ladyhawke.. they cry and carry on if POTUS blinks in their direction but any and all republicans are allowed to go on tv and screech the most foul untruths and rhetoric w/ nary a finger wave from the media or even from some dems. Look at the Rosen curfluffle.
Exactly. The Republican Party has had right wing radio and Fox providing 24X7 negative coverage of President Obama from day one. And on top of that the jackals and the mainstream media bend over backwards to ensure every story fits the “both sides do it” meme. So when the start with the tone nonsense, I say talk to the hand.
sherijr, as I said money doesn’t make you have class. And Ann and Mitt Romney doesn’t have an ounce of class, yes they have money, but no class. And think about what President Obama and First Lady Obama would have said if that question were ask of them four years ago.
I seem to remember then President-elect Obama having to remind people all the time that “we only have one President at a time”. And even when he criticized President Bush’s policies, he never disrespected the man. Never.
“Mitt Romney, speaking behind closed-doors to high-dollar campaign donors last night in Florida:
The candidate said he didn’t expect a fair fight in the media, saying he believed many commentators on television were liberals. He also said CNN reporter and host Wolf Blitzer was a good interviewer, and said Fox News had been good to him. Fox News is owned by News Corp., which also owns The Wall Street Journal.
Fox is watched by the true believers,” Mr. Romney said. “We need to get the independents and the women.”
“We need to get the independents and the women,” this signifies he is about to change his proposed policies and beliefs on many issues that he had earlier in the campaign, let the pandering begin.
saw him and his geriatric school-girl wife. Did you see how they giggled when WIllard said “start packing”? Really? My thing is, let him talk. Let him brag as much as he wants, spouting lies and repug fiction. If he thinks that his opposition info isn’t part of PBO’s nightly reading, he’s more delusional than I thought.
Forgive me this tangent but it strikes me: the Justice For Trayvon movement should have shown the netroots/ows crowd a real-life example of geographically disparate activists (many of whom are in high school and wouldn’t even recognize themselves as such): (a) using social media to organize peaceful protests and agitate against an establishment which was stonewalling around an unjust outcome; (b) creating a set of clear and attainable goals; and (c) manifesting those goals. I guess the lessons have gone right over their heads.
This is such a good comment. In over a year, OWS has accomplished pepper spraying, lost jobs, name-calling, ridicule. Not one of their stated goals has been achieved – whatever we were able to pull out of them to understand what they wanted. Now, they say they’re planning to destroy Bank of America.
The kids who demanded justice for Trayvon Martin got an arrest, and the wheels of justice are turning.

So watching Rev Al and he showed the clip of Willard saying that PBO should “start packing” with Mrs. Money right beside him giggling like a geriatric school girl. what asses I was so turned off by him saying that, because Diane asked: ” what would you say to PBO and Mrs. Obama?” and I thought, ‘why is she bringing Miche into this bullshit?!’ Apparently Mrs. Money’s response was something to the effect of “it’s our time/turn now.” I’ve never seen two bigger assholes.
OMG!!!!! thanks for that literary reference. it’s so apt!!!
“Out damned spot! Out I say!” Fuckers. I hope they lose all their money. I think that’s the worse thing I can wish for them.
I’m glad he said it. I hope he keeps using that line over and over at his empty stadium rallies. I hope she is right beside him every time he says it and laughs herself hoarse. It will make PBO’s victory that much sweeter. Mitt threw down a challenge. Good. Now it’s our job to make him eat those words letter by letter until they start packing and head back to wherever they came from.
She is so ridiculous! I think I almost hate her more than her heartless droopy-assed freakazoid of a husband. I read on one of the previous threads that in her 1++4 interview, she said something like Willard didn’t want her to work and she was quite happy not to. Assholes. Oh and that Willard was going to school and they had to scrape by–my term but basically what she meant– by selling stock and horrors of horrors!!!!—they couldn’t even entertain because they had stretch their millions to make it last. Fuckers. Can’t stand those entitled bastards. “Our turn” my fucking ass!
The thing about those Romneys is that it’s all about them. They could care less about the people or serving. They don’t know what service means. Ann Romney said it was her “early birthday present” to be criticized as a mom – doesn’t care about any other mothers, it was just about her. Someone else mentioned that it bugged them, too, when Romney talked about his good day when Santorum dropped out. They are all about themselves, what they want, what they deserve. Very entitled.
“John McCain released two years of tax return information. John Kerry released two years. We are going to follow their example,” Fehrnstrom said. Using these two as an example is so funny. They both lost.
Even his own Republican sheep have to wonder why he won’t release any tax returns from before he decided to throw his hat in the ring for the Presidency.
How much fun are we going to have rubbing their noses in that? Americans want this thing…Republican Congress votes it down…the stuff of which ads and mailers are made.
don’t know. All Rev said was that repukes blocked it but in the previous segment he’d said that repugs were in the minority but that it was expected that they would block it anyway.
just saw a damned ad with postal workers saying “Washington wanted to ” get rid off –or something or the sort– the post office. Not “Washington” dumbasses, repugs. Repugs want to demolish the PO so they can get their nasty greedy hands on your pensions.
Oh, we’re beating this muthafucker. It is on. I tried staying away from Ann Romney. I tried to hold the same respect I held for Laura Bush and Cindy McCain for her, but this shit ain’t happening anymore. That man, and that botox laden heifer can kiss the crevices of my black ass. Seriously, just dive in and get the juices. Thats how pissed off I am about this shit and I ain’t sugarcoating.
I never wanted to be cocky about this election nor am I a fool about Barack Obama’s chances in this nation. All the futile fights against people who believe all the silly shit and try to accuse this great man of horrendous treason on a nation he loves by his actions and heart be damned, he will be re-elected. I point blank REFUSE to believe these people would replace the gentility, sincerity and love of Barack and Michelle Obama for these careless, heartless, unfeeling cretins that Republicans are trying to peddle to us as a replacement for national and international representation.
I don’t EVER want to hear someone tell me about the lesser of two evils, because Barack Obama is not evil. No. I believe we’ve got this. We are running against an inept, soulless coward who’s campaign mirrors him in all ways. Its on now. Its on. I don’t just want Barack Obama to beat Mitt Romney, I want him to get his ass beat November 6th so hard, he will be in a self induced coma caused by drinking gallons of bourbon after his concession speech. I want Mrs. Romney to fill with so much rage at the love and adoration Michelle Obama receives that she ends up growing a hard white streak and a Marge Simpson honeycomb hairdo and HISSES everytime she hears her name, voice, or sees a smiling face beam at her.
BOOM! Nailed it Chris. After hearing them cackling and telling PBO and FL Michelle Obama to “start packing” something clicked in my mind. Game on motherfuckers. Game On!
Just watched the Diane Sawyer clip. Those two assholes remind me of every nasty wealthy couple I waited on back when I worked at East Lake Golf club in Atlanta. Horrible, horrible, people who inherited their wealth and think the world revolves around them. And as much as I DESPISE Mitt Romney, that bloated botoxed geriatric Barbie next to him needs to get her comeuppance even more than he does, smug asshole. At least Mitt has actually fucking worked for a living, no matter how foul his job was. These people are disgusting. They couldn’t be a greater contrast next to the graceful and warm Barack and Michelle Obama.
Ok, I’m beyond cranky, and Barney Frank isn’t making things easier. Can he just retire quietly and shut the fuck up? Now he’s saying that Dems shouldn’t have pushed health care, and of course the GOP is chortling in glee.
Beyond cranky adequately describes my mood today, as well. I’m blaming the barometric pressure. Actually, I’m kind of enjoying being in a snit for a change (usually I’m much more mellow), “but for” having to dwell on my targets – Romney and others – and hope to make it last until nightfall.
Might be a good time to try my hand at a little ol’ letter to some dimwit editor right about now. Dear Dimwit Editor … good start.
No what Dems should have done is stand tall and hailed ACA for the landmark achievement it was instead of running away from it like a bunch of whining sniveling cowards and thereby sabotaging any chance of holding onto the House.
First I was in a snit over Romney, and now I’m crossing my arms and tapping my foot over the Dems! Maybe it’s time to go play some music – Ha – to calm the savage beast in me! #PressOn
Without even going into the awfulness of members’ of the Secret Service not concentrating 100 percent of their efforts in another country toward the President’s security, this fiasco in Columbia will be felt in that service for years to come.
I remember after the Navy’s Tailhook Assn. ’91 convention, “where more than 100 Navy and Marine Corps aviation officers were alleged to have sexually assaulted at least 87 women, or otherwise engaged in ‘improper and indecent’ conduct in Las Vegas” (wiki reference), there was a huge impact which lasted intensely for YEARS and is still at issue. After that event, the entire Navy – military and civilian – had to have a standdown (usually reserved for some aircraft failure or similar catastrophe) to conduct a full day of prevention of sexual harassment training at shore activities, squadrons, etc. (It was part of my job then to plan and execute my organization’s standdown for all of its military + 750 civilians, off-site, so I remember it well.) It was a huge embarrassment to the Navy, but more importantly greatly interrupted military order and discipline, affected careers, and is still having its effect.
The good thing about what happened within the Navy is that the problem of sexual harassment, which obviously continues today in all its forms and may never be fully eradicated, made it to the forefront of consciousness at the highest levels. The same thing will eventually be of benefit to the Secret Service, but it’s a damn shame this happened. I hate the fact that it embarrassed the President, most of all, but thank God he’s safely back home.
I’m genuinely beginning to wonder if the Secret Service even cares that this happened. Honest question: do they think they are above reproach? Are they even the least bit embarrassed by this?
.@AnnDRomney CNNPoll: 59% of women voters say POTUS is in touch with problems facing women today vs. 23% for Mitt #HappyBirthdayMissAnn— PragmaticObotsUnite (@PragObots) April 16, 2012
It was blocked 51-45 in a filibuster vote. Republican Sen. Susan Collins of Maine and Democratic Sen. Mark Pryor of Arkansas were the only politicians to cross party lines.
Romneys had a turkey on the counter with a big dog like an Irish setter in the kitchen???!!! They are dumber every time they open their mouths! Our little poodle can stand on her hind legs and get meat on the counter if we don’t move it WAY back. But, we watch her! An Irish setter could reach the cabinets above! Don’t blame the dog!!! Blame your stupid selves. She thought that was an excuse?
Just watched the clip. What condescending SOBs these two are. They exude privilege and arrogance. Yes, let’s “return” to those wonderful policies that drove our economy into the ditch in the first place and hurt millions upon millions of Americans. Just because it’s “your turn”. If the American people vote this jerk into office I will toss my hands up in the air as living in the stupidest country in the world.
Amen to that. Last fall I thought he was the “best” of a bad pack but at this point I truly can’t stand him. He reminds me of Cheney. He is so utterly condescending to PBO it is mind boggling given the mess PBO walked in to and the mumber of crises he has faced since day one. The problem with people like Romney is you get the kind of decisions that we got under Bush/Cheney, not just on policy but because of their idiotic belief in their own superiority.
Can we come up with some snappy combacks against the arrogant romneys to see how we can fundrais for PBO? Please help me refine and twitt this:
Help Mitt the Pathological liar “Start Packing” to the Camany Island, donate to President Obama;
Hasten Mitt the Entitled Liar to start packing back to one of his 5 houses, donate to Obama/Biden 2012.
Hey guys there are so many of you with more creativity, we have to hit back at these enttiled 1 percenters!! So much disgust so little time to vent it all
Ann and Mitt proving class has nothing to do with how much money you have.
If this interview was supposed to “soften” Romney it sure as hell didn’t. I really disliked McCain and Palin, but I didn’t “hate” them. But ugh, I really dislike Mitt and Ann Romney more than I disliked Palin or McCain.
Can anyone imagine if in ’08 how wingnut head would have exploded if candidate Obama had said this when asked what he had to say to GWB? ugh, these people have no class.
.@ericfehrn did you get my email. Ted Nugent, @MittRomney surrogate, called the Obama Admin. evil. Will you and your boss condemn?— Brad Woodhouse (@woodhouseb) April 16, 2012
Ted Nugent can kiss my lily White ass! All they are doing, is really pissing off the Presidents base. Unwise!
Centerfold Scott is GAINING in the polls in Wisconsin… once again the fucking STUPID IDIOT UNIONS are snapping defeat from the jaws of victory!!!! That state DESERVES that idiot!!!
Yes, I did a little digging and posted this “Caffeinated Politics” link for the article about Pres. Bush v. Pres. Obama vacation days… I just posted it for information the article.
After having failed to move the Buffett Rule forward Tuesday evening, the Senate plans to take up a Postal Reform bill, S.1789, Tuesday morning when it resumes.
The chamber will resume consideration of the bill when it resumes at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Specifically, the Senate will consider a motion to end debate on a motion to proceed on the bill.
On Thursday, Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) called on Congress to try and avoid cuts to the U.S. Postal Service.
Republicans have called for some funding cuts for the service which would result in closing a number of offices around the country. Democrats, meanwhile, want to restructure the mail service to try and avoid as many cuts as possible.
When Sawyer asked Romney if he would have put Seamus on the car roof again, he said “Certainly Not With The Attention It’s Received.” Translation: I’m Running For President For Pete’s Sake. Can you believe his reasoning? His inhumane, morally bankrupt and the interview with Sawyer chilled me to the bone. He and his wife lack sensitivity and humanity. They are vile cretins. Vile. Especially Ann Romney. She’s like Lady Macbeth. Evil to the core.
Joan Walsh was all over Lady Mcbeth on the Ed Show concerning her “birthday present”. E.J. Dionne was still praising her, but the tide is turning against her.
So Mitt tells the President to start packing really, and then Ann says its their time seriously. Yes Ann it is your time: Time to turn in your taxes, time to tell the truth, time to kiss 2012 good bye.
I know he is the unofficial candidate, but he’s not the actual candidate. He still does not have the number of delegates promised he needs….this is the way he operates. His hubris is beyond anything I’ve ever seen. The “real” Mitt will come out for all to see…..so far he’s been talking nice to get votes, he doesn’t have to now. He can’t hold up in the glare of daily coverage. I predict a meltdown.
I can hardly believe how easy Mitt is making it for President Obama to defeat him. Mitt has demonstrated a huge lack in ability to connect to people, he has the lowest approvals of ANY presumptive candidate for President in a while, and he continues to put his feet in his mouth with gaffe after gaffe after gaffe.
I had a chance to look at Game Change, and saw how dysfuctional the McCain campaign got, especially after Palin came onboard. I can hardly imagine how dysfunctional the Romney campaign is, and this is WITHOUT a running mate on the ticket, and BEFORE he’s the official Republican nominee. I can only imagine they are going to go negative which means Reverend Wright, Bill Ayers, Derrick Bell, apologizer in chief, ALL OVER AGAIN!
WASHINGTON, DC – As part of President Obama’s all-of-the-above strategy to develop American energy, the Department of the Interior, the Department of the Army, and the Department of Energy have significantly advanced potential development of hydropower generation in the United States, according to a two-year progress report on the implementation of an interagency Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on hydropower.
Assistant Secretary of the Interior -Water and Science Anne Castle released the report today at the National Hydropower Association Conference meeting in Washington.
“Through collaboration and partnerships among federal agencies, the hydropower industry, the research community, and numerous stakeholders, we are succeeding in advancing the development of hydropower as a clean, reliable, cost-effective and sustainable energy source,” Castle told NHA conferees. “From assessing opportunities for new generation on existing Federal facilities to developing tools to get more energy from the same amount of water, we are working on many fronts to increase the potential of the largest source of renewable energy in the country.”

In latest polls, Romney has large lead over Obama in several critical areas: arrogance, deception, lying, negativity, and delusion.— eric resnick (@diggaduh) April 16, 2012
Why do polls show that last week's brouhaha didn't move the needle for Romney with women? Because it's about policies, not theatrics.— Brad Woodhouse (@woodhouseb) April 16, 2012
I see the president is meeting with Secretary Geithner. The secret service is under the Treasury dep’t………I wonder…..that could be an interesting meeting! Sec. Geithner also has to have SS protection…..this is going to upset a lot of people.
Michael Isikoff is investigating and was on Rev. Al. He’s not putting up with any double talk, which a former SS agent tried to snow him with. Isikoff loves digging into situations like this. The former SS agent tried to say that these miscreants were too far away from the president to be dangerous and that they didn’t have the “up to date” schedule. Isikoff would have none of that. These guys were the forward detail, of course they had accurate schedules…..maybe not last minute changes, but they are the ones who are supposed to prepare for “any eventuality” in the president’s appointments. Isikoff is not riding easy on this.
The SS agents have already been dismissed and their security clearances taken away from them. That is important. They will no longer have access to info. Having worked for the Navy dep’t, I know people treasure their security clearances. They feel power with those. These guys have lost power, and I bet a few lose marriages too.
Don’t worry – if they are found guilty and their security clearances are taken away from them, they won’t be able to do their jobs, and thus will have no jobs! Good riddance!
Actually the Secret Service is under Homeland Security..many people want it to go back under Treasury Dept. The transition was made back in March of 2003..Bush/Cheney mess again
HEADLINE: ABC Plays Distraction Politics While Ignoring the Real Issues of the Day
// …As a parent of an about-to-be University of California student, the costs frighten and frustrate me, and will mean some kind of change in our lifestyle to get her through college without piling up the student loans. Others are dealing with health crises, job insecurity, and other very real, deep issues of concern. But here’s what George Stephanopoulos wants to talk about:
STEPHANOPOULOS: Before we leave this [mommy wars] issue, I tend to agree with you all that this particular dispute is going to flare up and flame out, but, Melody, I wonder if the president has a — has a continuing problem with Bill Maher?…
Now last time I looked, Bill Maher was not an influencer in Democratic politics. He wasn’t someone who could just pick up the phone and get right through to the White House. But to George Stephanopoulos, this is so important he actually has to spend time on his show “wondering” whether the President should cut ties with Maher. What ties? Thank heavens for Katrina Vanden Heuvel and her level-headed, polite response. It was much nicer than I would have been…//
That was a pathetic discussion. Cokie Roberts says that Democrats are seen as “out of touch” and “elitist”, and the whole thing closes on a right winger saying no-one is trying to deny anyone from access to contraception and in the next breath, talking about religious freedom – with no-one speaking out to say that before the kerfuffle, religious institutions were already exempt, and that it’s those same religious institutions are the ones trying to deny women from birth control. Heaven help us all.

#AmericaThisIsNotATest

Oh, okay, wonder it the #74 to downtown will get me to the venue?
And a fine inauguration it will be, Bob. You like Romney, in his fevered imagination, will sit on the peacock throne, receive the golden crown and have dozens of “serving girls” feeding you sweetmeats. Romney’s probably wishing they would start forging the golden corona right now–swearing on an old bible is so yesterday when presidents were mere servants of the people. In his kingdom, people know their proper place.
Will Jake Gyllenhaal be there?

I agree with that aspect Bill.
Awesome letter at latimes.com today:
Bernadette Armstrong

#ItsTheLiesAmerica
Ms Armstrong is on target. Ms Romney is not a ‘private person, private family member’ she is a hack, shill, liar, cynic, plutocrat of the first order and couldn’t be more public. As you, Tally, and others noted, it’s perfectly fine for the President and his advisors to take the high ground, but the rest of us need to hold the Romney’s to a searing heat of truth and unrestrained denunciation of absolutely everything they are.
#PRESSON
Ann Romney has said in the past quite clearly that she. does. not. work:
“No, I did not work. Mitt thought it was important for me to stay home with the children, and I was delighted…” –Ann Romney, 1994
http://gothamist.com/2012/04/14/ann_romney_in_1994_mitt_thought_it.php#photo-1
I HATE BEING SICK!!!!!!!!! Woke up this morning, got 1ST on Rise & Shine, then fell back asleep while reading… Has been this way for a while now…

one candidate running to decrease taxes on himself. the other candidate and president running to raise taxes on himself. end of story.
I keep asking the question, what is Mitt Romney hiding? We know he is rich, so why not just release his tax returns?
Thisssssssssss
Hesitate to wade into SS problem before all facts known, but it is disturbing, as Michael Isikoff reported, that some of those recalled were part of the counter-assault team, those who need to spring into action if there was any pending danger to President Obama’s safety. And also very troubling that Obama’s non-public schedules were found in all the rooms, out in the open, details of his every movement, which is just reckless in my mind. I don’t want those charged with President Obama’s safety out partying all night. We need them to be alert and responsible at all times.
This concerns me very much. If you are going to hire a prostitute, for pete’s sake pay her. But as I said this concerns me.
And “I am running for office, for pete’s sake” don’t hire any undocumented workers to cut your grass. (Willard Romney)
Something similar to this happened before when PBO was in Australia, i.e. his private appearance schedule. This is scarier than I thought; especially with all of the drug cartels in Latin America. (No offense to anyone)
This kind of behavior by the Secret Service scares me even when POTUS is in the U.S.

Mitt thought it was important for me to stay home with the children, and I was delighted.”
oh yes….the average everyday joe made it through college selling stock.
http://www.samefacts.com/2012/01/income-distribution/mitt-romney-and-ann-the-students-struggling-so-much-that-they-had-to-sell-stock/
“…we waited four years to have the third…”
Say it aint so: family planning, likely with the use of contraceptives, that the Romneys would like to deprive other women of via Mitt’s plans to take funds away from Planned Parenthood. These people just get better and better.
Or maybe they didn’t have sex for four years. I know my brain would snap.
Maybe that’s the key to conservatives. Maybe if they all GOT LAID, their Empathy Meter would get fixed.
HAH!!! :-0 Too Damn Funny….and Too Damn TRUE!!!
Annie held an aspirin between her knees & maybe Mittster didn’t have a head ache? Just saying….
TOTALLY. I think Republicans are the most sex-starved people on the earth. They hate sex, except when they have to have it. Hypocrites.
Mitt and Ann Romney is so out of touch with the everyday middle class people. He is so rich this is how he can say so easy that he don’t care about the poor, he don’t.
So not entertaining is living on the edge?
Just how more out of touch can the Romneys get?

No, No, No, Mr. Corn, it is How Mitt Romney Lies.
I agree anniebella, the title of the article should be “HOW MITT ROMNEY LIES” not “HOW MITT ROMNEY FIBS”. I don’t get the aversion to calling a lie a lie. It’s really silly.
I’ll remind folks that Steve Benen of the Maddow Blog has a weekly column chronicling Willard’s LIES
I know! David Corn, FIBS are what you tell your Mama when she asks if you ate all the Cookies and you say “no”
He is pathologically mendatious.
OOPS! I mean mendacious! Fingers racing ahead of brain.
Once again goes back to the corporatemedia “reporters” who are lazy and non confrontational except when it comes to our Esteemed President. Showing themselves for the lowlife they’ve become. Can’t imagine Walter Cronkite putting up with mitt’s shite.
Like the ADs a lot.
Romney must be daft if he thinks just ignoring this will make it go away.
Unrelated…………poor kid but it’s
at the same time
This poor little kid, but I predict we will see this exact same reaction from Myth Robney following the very first debate with PBO, on the world stage. He will be screaming for a place to hide… Until he drops his bag of illusions that he is going to be the next president.
Where the heck were this child’s parents. That was not funny, the child was afraid.
I agree anniebella, this little guy was terrified!
LMAO @ how the audience booed when he said “maybe.”
#PRESSON
I agree Bobfr. It’s very troubling indeed.
You and me both Bob…
Something just doesn’t add up with this SS story…
Very disturbing particularly with all the open threats against the President far less those not stated. See one of the latest:
Poor pathetic nugent is already braindead.
amen to that, nugent is braindead.
FLASHBACK TO THE GOP 2008 CAMPAIGN
The ‘I Hate Romney’ Club
By Ana Marie Cox – Sunday, Feb. 03, 2008
——————————————————-
To be sure, the candidates’ staffs do seem to have bonded in their dislike of Romney.

Wouldn’t be surprised if some of the same people were passing along the same information to Team Obama. The hatred for Mittens runs that deep.
Well done, Lh!
#PRESSON
Basically the Birther insanity on steroids.
the list is endless.
Excellent list, Tally… that is it, in a nutshell.
Outstanding!!
#PRESSON
I wish the Obama campaign and the fucking dem surrogates would point out these things boldly and bluntly instead of fucking pussyfooting around it and soft peddling it. Go for fucking broke against this insanity since the fucking media is going to be shills for fucking mehmney till November.
Pahdon my FF.
Good night.
The GOP birthers, baggers and blowhards are so terrified of the “real” President Obama and all of his accomplished that they have had to resort to creating an “imaginary” PBO to run against. It’s full speed down the rabbit hole. They got nothin.
BINGO. It’s been Opposite Day in the TeaOP since Inauguration Day 2008.
And they are aided and abetted by an unethical media that simply repeats these lies without challenging or correcting them.
I’m totally going to tweet this Tally.
Excellent. This is Rovian at its finest. Blame your opponent for that of which you are guilty.
The gop Weaklings can’t handle the Truth.
BREAKING: The Gallup US Job Creation Index, based on a 3 day rolling average, has posted its highest mark since before the Great Recession: +24

Now, Karen Finney is all about ST Anne!
Oh Brother, Democratic Women are caving to Ann!
Why are Democrats even talking about her? Whether praising her or trashing her, it’s a complete distraction from the campaign and only gives her more power over the conversation. I’m topped out on her already.
This.
I didn’t take it that way. Thought she was being sarcastic.
Jovie LOVES to exaggerate – particularly the negative stuff.
I watched Karen Finney on Martin Bashir show she is just fine, in fact she is excellent just watch the tape.
She absolutely was not caving to Anne. We are talking about Martin Bashir’s show right? Karen has been one of PBO’s biggest proponents.
No she was NOT caving to ANN yes she was on Martin bashir show she is always for PBO + she was
the DNC spoks person, Karen is very very good.
Randi Rhodes is on guys……

Gallup has it’s first head to head matchup,
Obama 49
Robney 45
They call it a statistical tie. Phooey!
My bad! They have Robney up 2! That was march poll that the President was up 2! This is BS!
This is to help the narrative so they can fix the elections and say no surprise if Romney wins.
I seem to remember Gallup reporting that the Feb. unemployment numbers were 9.1%, when they were actually 8.3%. I’d take anything Gallup says with a pound or two of salt.
Question- why is Robney so desperate if he is leading?
Romney is not leading in ANY poll. That’s why he and the MSM are so desperate. By now you should be well aware that the weekly gyrations of Gallup are to be taken with the appropriate amount of salt.
Hopefruit, the brand new CNN poll has the president up by 9 fucking points.
Yeehaw!
Indeed. But the most relevant poll will be the one on November 6. And PBO will also be leading in that poll. So from now till then, regardless of the gyrations of the various polls, just keep ya head up and PRESS ON!
Gullup is not to be thrusted they are misleadind all the fucking time!!!!!!
Do you trust Gallup? 99.9% says no…….1% says yes.
THIS
Great, all of those names are TOXIC. The chickens are coming home to roost. Welcome to the general election campaign Mitt.
Do you have a link to this Martin Bashir segment?
It hasn’t been posted yet.
Thanks for that.
The woman shill for Cheney being interviewed by Martin is even nastier than the typical Republican.
She was a total disaster….stuttering and stammering the whole time……I bet we never see her again.
teehee
Whenever Cheney is being discussed I wish it would be remembered that he once said “deficits don’t matter”.
I missed her Freudian slip that caused Martin and guests to chuckle. Did you catch it?
Yesss and I hope this person trying to give Cheney a heart is paid very well. She’s just gotten several big check marks next to her name in the big book upstairs.
Can we get the tape? I watched the show, but everybody should see it Martin is one of the best!!!
Thanks so much UT for filling us in! Martin is like an oasis in a desert filled with scorpions! I can’t wait to see the video.

Holy shit! Martin Bashir just destroyed Dick Cheney in his Clear The Air segment. It is definitely a must see for everyone.
I’m missing all the good stuff – thanks for the heads up, and I will surely watch the segment when it’s posted on the website
I’m on a conference call with First Lady Michelle, it’s about to start…too excited!!!
I, also, was on the conference call with FLOTUS. She was great. Got some good questions, and told us what we can say in talking to voters about the true facts of the ACA and his other policies.
Hi guys!
Some excllent articles not to be missed!
What is Mittens hiding? THIS:
——–
Do not think for a moment that this man is a moderate. He is a devout believer in a deeply patriarchal religion and will carry his beliefs into his politics.
Simply because he is skilled at flip-flopping and giving the appearance of not having a spine when it comes to commiting himself to a position…do not be fooled. From a very young age, Willard Mitt Romney was deemed the most likely candidate in the Mormon faith to achieve the Presidency. His Patriarchal Blessing eluded to this divine prophecy – known in the Mormon faith as the White Horse Prophecy.

FU Romney
http://thinkprogress.org/special/2012/04/16/465010/romney-nonworking-parents-indolent/
Wonder what happened to “all mom’s are working mom’s” Jackass
wow he is literally full of shit.. he evidently has zero knowledge of anyone who has been a recipient of welfare. What a pos.
The President’s mom had to use food stamps. Is Romney saying the President of the United States is indolent and unproductive? Romney, who was born into wealth and hasn’t had a job in ten years?
good point theo.. on POTUS’ mom.. will need to tweet old williard on his nonsense here.
The New CNN poll has Obama up 9 over Robmey.
That us an 11 point difference from Gallup and Fox news poll.
The internals are amazing for the President. Wolfe can’t believe it! Lol!
52-43!!!
But but but…
Men- Obama 49-46
Women- Obama 55-39.
Taken over the weekend so the War in moms had No effect with the women vote. Lol! Lmao!
Poor Wolfe Blitzer!
The Blitz can go back to lecturing Hilary Rosen.
Right! Now, which poll will be reported on breathlessly?
Gallup or CNN?
Why don’t you tell us which since you breathlessly reported them both.
Another personal attack.
Man alive!
By November Willard and Ann are going to be greatly disliked and running jokes.
That is true, also a racial factor.
So which one is more of a factor, the bi-racial race of President Obama or the Mormonism is not Christianity of Willard Romney?
I think the bi-racial factor is greater. The racists will not vote for PBO under any circumstances. Many of the Bible thumpers will hold their noses and vote for Willard simply to be voting against PBO, particularly in the south and midwest.
True.
That is true! Sadly, for both candidates, Americans are by and large insecure!
http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entries/romney-to-obama-start-packing
In an interview with Mitt and Ann Romney Monday by ABC News’ Diane Sawyer, Mitt Romney had two words for President Obama: “start packing.” After that quip, Romney explained that Obama’s “policies have not helped the American people.”
The full interview will air Monday at 6:30 p.m. ET on “World News With Diane Sawyer” and 11:30 p.m. ET on “Nightline.”

Barney Frank On Mitt Romney: “There Is A Meanness At His Core”
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2012/03/30/barney_frank_on_mitt_romney_there_is_a_meanness_at_his_core.html
I was at the supermarket today and the Ebony May issue is out with FLOTUS on the cover. I got my copy.
Mine came in the mail today, anniebella.
What an arrogant creep. He thinks he’s already won the election when all he’s doing is continuing to alienate more people every day.
No thank you desertflower. Not for me.
This item needs to get the TODville tweetment…….
David Cay Johnston: Romneys Were Able To Give Sons $100 Million Tax Free
———————————————————–

Okay, here is the new CNN poll-
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2012/04/16/cnn-poll-gender-gap-and-likeability-keep-obama-over-romney/
Poor poor Ann Robney, it did not work! Lol!
“That remark may have little long-term effect on women voters,” says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland. “By a two-to-one margin, the women surveyed saw President Obama as more in touch with the problems facing American women today.”
Oh well. She’s going to need another early birthday present.
And now we know Ann Romney to be as cold-blooded and opportunistic as her husband. It’s not going to wear well over time.
Worst News of the Day: HP wins a Pulitzer Prize
So I guess the Pulitzer Prize is not worth a dam if Huff Puff won one.
Very true, Anniebella. Eugene Robinson and Jon Meacham both have won one.
Meacham ? Good Grief
Eugene Robinson is a much better writer than he is a talker…i have not seen him live so i cannot say how his presence comes across…
my understanding that it was not The Huff…but one of their columnists who wrote a 10-part series on disabled veterans and their heroic struggles to overcome….
i might want to read that….
I didn’t know the Pulitzer had a poutrage category…
Isn’t is really about the reporter more so than where the series appeared ?
He would have won no matter what…..it was a 10 part series on veterans
You are right, but HP is not promoting it that way.
I am surprised they didn’t do one of their half page 1000 font headlines with the breaking news spinning globe.
No, Willard they are still not into you, nor your “policy” pronouncements, man!

Obama stands up for what he believes, only 29% say the same about Romney.
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2012/04/16/cnn-poll-gender-gap-and-likeability-keep-obama-over-romney/
The 29% figure is devastating.
What I wouldn’t give to see a 6 leading that women’s number instead of a 5….
They seem to think women are idiots. Why would a thinking person punish PBO for a random but true statement by some random Democrat. Someone needs to tell Williard and his ridiculous wife it’s the policies, stupid.
This is the video where Martin Bashir decimated former Dick Cheney staffer and morally bankrupt cretin Juleann Glover on his show today. Enjoy!

That Robert Kessler person on Hardball has an obvious agenda……Who is he ?
He has written books about the FBI and Secret Service. I have seen him on C-SPAN. He seems serious and fair.
You mean Ronald Kessler? He’s a jackass.
Not sure what his deal is, but troubling—
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ronald_Kessler
Romney told ABC that PBO should start packing. The campaign must fund a way to turn this into a motivating tool.
That son of a bitch.
My sentiments exactly BWD. Made me see red. Time to make another contribution!
This is the video where Martin Bashir decimated Dick Cheney. It’s his Clear The Air segment from today.

Bill,
I can’t express my specific choice for a candidate at church, but I can and do address the values as I understand them. There are many far better ministers than I, trust me. All we can do is what we can do. In the meantime, thanks for the confirmation that I am not alone in my thoughts. Your reply means a lot.
Dear Eve,
What an amazing and absolutely spot on post…
I intend to share this with every single person I know…
Thank you…
Dear eveingeorgia… you are no way alone in your outrage on the behavior from everyone from Secret Service judgement/ professionalism to the media republican bias.. it is discouraging and very hard to swallow somedays.. but I believe most of us see it and recognize the BS from the facts.
I do not watch pundits because I literally yell at them from my living room
and they never listen to me ! We’ll get through this….as long as POTUS can take it.. I’ve decided I can too.. and so can you. We’re stronger together~
Yes we are stronger today.
Eve, a beautiful statement. Thank you. The hatred in this country has been deliberately stoked by the GOP for decades. We have to rise up and say NO in the loudest voice ever or this country will not have another chance. Like you, I will work and pray that love overcomes hate.
Yes we will, Jackie. NO is the most positive thing we can say this time around.
So true.

Hachiko just posted this pic of her current stage in the journey from NYC to Maine
photo/1
That is so cool. The people here just freakin’ ROCK. I’m so proud of everyone who jumped in no-questions-asked to help this amazing woman and her dog. Democrats Rule.
Very cool! Hope you are near your destination with Tucker!
Nice!
Enjoy Maine, Hechiko! The New England area is my favorite place in the world!
Sorry, Hachiko! Just came in from mowing our never-ending lawn in a severely awful wind — my fingers are frozen.
Yeah me, neither.. but here we have Mitt Money being interviewed by Diane Sawyer and telling “Obama” to “start packing”.
http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/04/16/us-americas-summit-obama-idUSBRE83F0UD20120416
This is what makes republicans so detestable.. they have ZERO Class or conscience.. and they prove it every single day.
oh dang, sorry heres the correct link: http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/newsmakers/romney-tells-obama-to–start-packing–in-interview-with-diane-sawyer.html
Exactly.. I tweeted Romney and advised him to see Barack Obama on clues as to how a President behaves..
I seem to remember then President-elect Obama having to remind people all the time that “we only have one President at a time”. And even when he criticized President Bush’s policies, he never disrespected the man. Never.
No one wants Rubio.
i hope Willard puts him on the ticket anyway. either him or the Serial Killer.
..Except the media. And Puhlease Charismatic speaker my arse. HE only got to where he is by riding Jeb’s coattails.
They have Scott Walker up 5 over Barrett. Hmmmm!
From a Daily Kos post:
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/04/16/1083843/-Mitt-Romney-says-he-needs-a-new-plan-on-how-to-get-the-women-
“Mitt Romney, speaking behind closed-doors to high-dollar campaign donors last night in Florida:
The candidate said he didn’t expect a fair fight in the media, saying he believed many commentators on television were liberals. He also said CNN reporter and host Wolf Blitzer was a good interviewer, and said Fox News had been good to him. Fox News is owned by News Corp., which also owns The Wall Street Journal.
Fox is watched by the true believers,” Mr. Romney said. “We need to get the independents and the women.”
Good grief. Still using that tired argument. Has he even watched the news lately?
“We need to get the independents and the women,” this signifies he is about to change his proposed policies and beliefs on many issues that he had earlier in the campaign, let the pandering begin.
Yup.
shake shake >>etch-a-sketch<< shake shake
Hi,TODVILLE! It’s nice to be home to check on what you’ve all done today.
I’m pulling myself away from Rev. Al’s show for a minute … to let you know …
Although I’m not a violent woman, if somebody doesn’t knock that smug smile off Romney’s face, I will.
Good thing you can’t get arrested for your thoughts. (Can you?)
Later.
saw him and his geriatric school-girl wife. Did you see how they giggled when WIllard said “start packing”? Really?
My thing is, let him talk. Let him brag as much as he wants, spouting lies and repug fiction. If he thinks that his opposition info isn’t part of PBO’s nightly reading, he’s more delusional than I thought.
Moveon.org has paid Training for OWS rallies!
Ummm, what exactly does that entail?
Seems odd! Training?
Is Matt Taibbi involved by chance ?
Unknown! It is strange…
I don’t think those OWS folks will ever learn.

That’s one broken record I’d like to see played each day and every day. Music to our ears. Ha!
I’m with you!! A lot will change between now and election day, but let’s do everything we can to keep rolling in this direction.

So watching Rev Al and he showed the clip of Willard saying that PBO should “start packing” with Mrs. Money right beside him giggling like a geriatric school girl.
what asses
I was so turned off by him saying that, because Diane asked: ” what would you say to PBO and Mrs. Obama?” and I thought, ‘why is she bringing Miche into this bullshit?!’ Apparently Mrs. Money’s response was something to the effect of “it’s our time/turn now.”
I’ve never seen two bigger assholes.
GAH. They are INSUFFERABLE.
Seriously, so entitled, as if the WH should just be handed to them for shits and giggles. Both Romneys need to have a seat.
They reek of monied entitlement.
I am beginning to think of Mrs. Willard as Lady Macbeth, the evil behind a weak fool. However, “assholes” fits well too.
OMG!!!!! thanks for that literary reference. it’s so apt!!!
“Out damned spot! Out I say!” Fuckers. I hope they lose all their money. I think that’s the worse thing I can wish for them.
That is perfect Bill.
I keep thinking of Romney as the “Reggie” character from the old Archie, Veronica, and Betty comics I used to buy WAY-back-when!
Did Diane Sawyer ask them about what was caught on audio at the fundraiser yesterday ?
it hasn’t aired. Rev Al just showed the clip of Willard and Mrs. Money saying “start packing” and giggling like the fuckers they are.
If she doesn’t she is worthless.
Bring it on Mitt.
Ann has this sense of entitlement, which is not going to appeal to a lot of people.
The Buffett rule is being voted on now! Any bets that Manchin and Ben Nelson will vote No?
If Harry had 58 votes I might take that bet. But he won’t so yeah they’ll vote no.
They blocked it
They sure are anxious to return to being the minority party. PBO is going to make them regret this something terrible.
Repukes blocked the Buffett Rule.
How much fun are we going to have rubbing their noses in that? Americans want this thing…Republican Congress votes it down…the stuff of which ads and mailers are made.
I’m just amazed at how many times one party can keep walking into a trap.
What were the dems/pubs breakdown?
It was wonderful what Ellen and JC Penny did for those young ladies, and of course FLOTUS was wonderful too.
I always find something good about FLOTUS, specifically for you, Annibella!
Thank you Jovie.
That was a very sweet clip and a very nice promo for Joining Forces.
http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entries/romney-to-obama-start-packing
Or this.
It is ON!
BOOM! Nailed it Chris. After hearing them cackling and telling PBO and FL Michelle Obama to “start packing” something clicked in my mind. Game on motherfuckers. Game On!
I am going to try my hardest to stay on your good side. I wanted to laugh but I feel the same way. I have no respect for the woman and her husband.
!!!!!!!!!!
LOL!! Thanks for that.
No what Dems should have done is stand tall and hailed ACA for the landmark achievement it was instead of running away from it like a bunch of whining sniveling cowards and thereby sabotaging any chance of holding onto the House.
I need a vacation.
Please everyone if you are on twitter. Go there and tweet something/anything about the Buffet Rule defeat by Senate Republicans.
But, first, off to throw up.
(Seriously, a good idea, AnitaW!)
maybe Mrs. Money should up her game with the advice she’s giving Willard. Geriatric Dingdong.
Hopefruit2: 1
Miss Ann: 0
That’s why HF2 loves Tien Le!
Mrs Willard told Diane Sawyer that Seamus became sick on top of the car because he had eaten a turkey on the counter. Move over half term governor.
LOL! What comic relief
so why did he keep running away?
What a Dingdong.
What the dog ate the whole turkey, or was it a uncook turkey. This doesn’t explain why you would have a dog on top of a car.
Anniebelle, we need you to replace David Gregory on MTP. We might get some straight answers from the Republicans.
It was blocked 51-45 in a filibuster vote. Republican Sen. Susan Collins of Maine and Democratic Sen. Mark Pryor of Arkansas were the only politicians to cross party lines.
That will cost Scott brown- but, his donations come from the financial industry and bigwigs, so not surprising.
Warren should run an ad on this issue.
And you can Join me in Belize!
Just because you have money don’t mean you have class. Ann and Mitt Romney don’t have a ounce of class.
Can we come up with some snappy combacks against the arrogant romneys to see how we can fundrais for PBO? Please help me refine and twitt this:
Help Mitt the Pathological liar “Start Packing” to the Camany Island, donate to President Obama;
Romney To Obama: ‘Start Packing’
Can anyone imagine if in ’08 how wingnut head would have exploded if candidate Obama had said this when asked what he had to say to GWB? ugh, these people have no class.
Ann and Mitt have this sense that they are owed the Presidency.
That Question Sawyer asked was planted by the Robney advisers, for soundbite purposes.
Watch the clip again, Sawyer was smiling while asking question- they knew the question ahead of time.
Not fair!
What’s Mitt Hiding? CHICA!!! LET HER GO!! We need a NEW thread!!!
What’s Mitt Hiding? YARDARM!! Where is our always trusty, lovingly crusty sailor??
Ted Nugent can kiss my lily White ass! All they are doing, is really pissing off the Presidents base. Unwise!
Nugent is sick in the head.
10 military now caught up in the SS scandal—5 Special Forces Army, 2 Marines, 2 Navy and 1 A.F. Navy and AF part of explosive detection unit. Military spokesperson said their personnel were staying at the same hotel as SS and “somehow got caught up in the incident”, an interesting way of putting it.

Joint Chiefs are pissed!
Centerfold Scott is GAINING in the polls in Wisconsin… once again the fucking STUPID IDIOT UNIONS are snapping defeat from the jaws of victory!!!! That state DESERVES that idiot!!!
Luckily, the President is running uncontested, otherwise, me thinks that they would tear up the President- too.
Give it some time. The Dem nominee will not be elected until the first week or so in May. When Walker has a “known” opponent then the polls may shift.
Robney photo op today-
This does not help him, it only suggests that he knows the billionaire owner of the Patriots-

Isn’t this the same team that LOST the SuperBowl? Why does Mitt STAY losing?
Yes, I did a little digging and posted this “Caffeinated Politics” link for the article about Pres. Bush v. Pres. Obama vacation days… I just posted it for information the article.
Caffeinated Politics – President Bush And Reagan Used Far More Vacation Days Than President Obama
Mark Knoller needs to see this.

Compromise! Some cuts and restructure! Doh!
IOW, he wouldn’t do it again because he got caught. Like that’s some sort normal behavior for him but others didn’t approve. CRETIN.
Mrs. Ann is Sarah Palin, on steroids. By November 6, a majority of women will hate her guts.
Now, for some sick reason, COS, that made me laugh hysterically!
Joan Walsh was all over Lady Mcbeth on the Ed Show concerning her “birthday present”. E.J. Dionne was still praising her, but the tide is turning against her.
I love that Joan even called Ann Romney “that woman”. She deserves that.
So Mitt tells the President to start packing really, and then Ann says its their time seriously. Yes Ann it is your time: Time to turn in your taxes, time to tell the truth, time to kiss 2012 good bye.
“It’s our time.” is the wealthy version of “God told me to run.”
Thank you for the translation.
Classless!!!!!!
PBO released a statement on the Buffett Rule Senate vote:

Dear Barney Frank, STFU.
He is passive aggressive, because POTUS did not sign that executive order for the Gay Community. Predictable and Yawn!

kp gpt tp Maine safely. She is going to bed to get some rest. It’s 9: 30 NY time. So happy she made it!
Oh that’s wonderful news – glad she made it safely. Thanks miss pat for the update!
You are welcome.
Hachiko got to Maine…sorry. Keypad acting funny.
If found guilty of hookin’ (AND NOT PAYING THEM!!!), I would like the SS agents to lose their jobs. PERIOD.

Now what is Lawrence up to with this?
Did Gary Johnson somehow get elected while I was napping?
