Vice President Joe Biden who was the original drafter of the bill asked a very simple and poignant question: Exactly what are we arguing about here? After 17 years of helping victims of violence why would there be any question about re-authorization?.
The reason why Senator Grassley and his colleagues are having a cow is that they have been exposed big time. The GOP war on women is real. Add yet another item to the list. Everything was fine as long as no one knew about their objections to a bill that should have been a no brainer. It’s just remarkable that the addition of LGBT, Native Americans and immigrants “victims” was so offensive to the GOP. Now they are saying the Democrats are playing politics.
