WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush says he’d consider running as vice president with Mitt Romney, but doubts he’ll ever be asked.

Bush tells the conservative website Newsmax that Florida Sen. Marco Rubio is “probably the best” choice to share the ticket with Romney, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee. Bush said he hopes the freshman senator is offered the No. 2 slot and accepts it.

Rubio has said repeatedly that he isn’t interested in leaving the Senate.

Bush said he’d consider running if Romney were to ask him. But the former governor added that he’s not sure running for vice president is the right thing for him and said he’s doubtful he’d even receive the call.

    Wow…. Did he say Yes…or No ?

I’ve been seeing it on twitter. I don’t think he’ll be asked. It would allow the Bush Admin to receive more scrutiny. I doubt America wants another Bush in the WH.

      But who knows…

Jeb would be a good pick if Romney hadn’t gone so far right. It would be too conflicting on immigration.

“Jeb would be a good pick”

aaahhhh no. My memory is not that short where I would forget the state of the country after the last Bush was in office.
Two wars, weapons of mass destruction, economic collapse . . . not only no but heck no.

You guys misunderstand me when i say good. I don’t mean good for the nation i mean it would have given Romney a better chance at winning. You have to admit in a pure political way he’s a sane pick based on credentials. I don’t like Jeb but I’m not scared of him like i am Romney, Palin, McCain, Scott, Walker, Brewer, etc. He would also help with Latino vote (he speaks Spanish) but he’s getting picked.

            April 20, 2012 at 6:56 pm

I’m sorry, Jeb would add NOTHING to a Romney ticket except memories of W, especially with the last name of “Bush.” Do you really think adding anyone with the last name Bush would help, especially Romney, whose already done enough to sink his ship?

Also Jeb has plenty of skeletons in his closet… remember the Terry Schiavo fiasco? Then there’s the Stand Your Ground BS that HE signed into law.

Sorry Jessica, Jeb adds nothing but MORE baggage for Romney to have to deal with, PERIOD!

            • 33 Jessica
              April 20, 2012 at 7:37 pm

I think Jeb is the best chance he’s got unless he picks the governor of New Mexico. I forgot her name.

              Just my opinion.

                April 20, 2012 at 7:48 pm

I’m just not seeing it, unless Zimmerman is acquitted… then there’s the Terry Schiavo fiasco and the fact that he said the Republican Party has gone too far right, and we still have the 2000 election fiasco.

Susanna Martinez is the NM governor, and she’s already said she wouldn’t take VP, and she’s too inexperienced as governor… a smart Sarah Palin. My thought is that Romney will pick someone unknown in hopes that the WOW factor will work in his favor, as was the Palin pick for McCain before she opened her mouth and the wheels fell off.

          • 35 nospin
            April 20, 2012 at 6:57 pm

Being the sane one isn’t enough. Nor do I believe Jeb would help secure the Latino vote because he speaks the language.

My response was based on the horrific notion that anyone would consider allowing another Bush to get near the WH.

            • 36 Jessica
              April 20, 2012 at 7:41 pm

i don’t think it would secure it just close the gap a bit. I think Romney needs a wing and a prayer to get through this election and needs someone to help him with Latinos and women whoever that might be.

Let’s make it clear. we do not vote for VP”s , and we hispanic are NOT stupid to see what the GOP has
done against the hispanic cpmmunity we do NOT trust the GOP, and by thw way the Hispanics we are
extremely independing on our own thinking so Jeb Bush or Marco Rubio will NOT be able to convince we
Hispanis to VOTE Republican and the last I checked with the Hispanic members of congress they all are
with PBO, so ther is a lot of hot Air by the MSM regarding the Hispanic Votes, and the mayority are with
PBO so I.am not Fucking worried about my brothers and sisters on a full support for PBO.

    • April 20, 2012 at 6:15 pm

I think he said, “I’m waiting for 2016.” It all seems so odd. I’ve been wondering for a long time now if they are trying to throw this election so they can make a run for 2016. I just don’t think anyone has mentioned it to Mitt. I really believe they want a Bush/Rubio or possibly Rubio/Bush ticket for 2016.

      • 44 hopefruit2
        April 20, 2012 at 6:21 pm

If they were trying to “throw” the election why would they be spending all this money? I think more likely they are being realistic about Romney’s chances of beating Obama which are probably lower than the MSM wants you to think for ratings sake.

        • April 20, 2012 at 6:31 pm

I don’t disagree with that. I’m also not saying we should let our guard down. I’ve just never seen such tepid Republican support for a candidate .Certainly not in recent history. Even Bob Dole was better received. As for the money, the SuperPACs have a ton more they haven’t committed to advertising. Maybe they’re waiting for closer to the election? I don’t know. But I wonder what they’re really up to.

Republicans want to win this election and in 2016. They are taking this election very seriously, which is why they started passing those id laws about two years ago in states. These laws and the millions that are behind Mitt is an example of how much they want to win this year. I do think that Jeb Bush will run in 2016, and Mitt will choose a women VP who is either white or a minority.

The President’s smile just seems to tap directly into whatever part of the human brain or nervous system it is that responds to positive stimuli. I mean, even when he’s soaking wet from the rain, when most of us would look bedraggled, he beams like the sun, and everything is good!

Romney, on the other hand, has a creepy smile, especially around the eyes. I notice he tends to squint them, like someone at some point told him (programmed him?) to do do that, because people’s eyes normally tend to crinkle or something when they smile. And that’s his best attempt at replicating that. But it’s mechanical and soulless.

    * Lawsuit follows rejection of CEO Pandit’s pay package

    * Directors accused of breach of fiduciary duties

April 20 (Reuters) – Days after being rebuked by shareholders, Citigroup Inc Chief Executive Vikram Pandit and the bank’s directors have been sued for allegedly awarding outsized pay to top executives.

The complaint filed Thursday in Manhattan federal court accuses directors of breaching their fiduciary duties by awarding more than $54 million of compensation in 2011 to the executives, including $15 million to Pandit, though the bank’s performance did not necessarily justify it.

At Citigroup’s annual meeting on Tuesday, about 55 percent of shareholders participating in an advisory vote rejected Pandit’s pay package. That marked the first time that investors had rejected a compensation plan at a major U.S. bank.

That vote “has cast doubt on the board’s decision-making process, as well as the accuracy and truthfulness of its public statements,” the complaint said. “Absent this (lawsuit), the majority will of the company’s stockholders shall be rendered meaningless.”

Spokeswomen for Citigroup did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

George Zimmerman is such a big phony. He could have apologized through the media. The Martin family attorney said on Rev AL a few mintues ago usually the father is comforting the mother. Today it was the mother who comforted the father who had tears running down his eyes. On his facebook page he said he would say everything relevant; yet Zimmerman never had an apology listed.

    WITH FRIENDS LIKE THESE

    By Steve Benen

    ——————————————–

Gov. Mitch Daniels of Indiana endorsed Mitt Romney for president on Wednesday — then criticized him a day later in an interview with The Indianapolis Star. [...]

“You have to campaign to govern, not just to win,” Mr. Daniels told Matthew Tully of The Indianapolis Star. “Spend the precious time and dollars explaining what’s at stake and a constructive program to make life better. And as I say, look at everything through the lens of folks who have yet to achieve.”

According to Mr. Tully, “after a pause, Daniels added with disappointment, ‘Romney doesn’t talk that way.’ ”

Daniels went on to urge Romney to talk with voters “with some specificity” about his agenda, with the implication being that the presumptive Republican nominee has not yet done so thus far.

I’m starting to believe this whole Secret Service BS was released by the right wing in a feeble attempt to bring President Obama’s approval ratings down. The Fast and Furious and Solyndra witch hunts weren’t going anywhere, so why not release all this BS about the President’s Secret Service detail banging random hookers as opposed to protecting the President like they were hired to do. Unfortunately for the right wing, this SS BS involves quite a few Republicans as well.

  24. 103 nintendowii10
    April 20, 2012 at 7:12 pm

I also want to note how a lot of the right wing aren’t even hiding their racism anymore. For example, on the Trayvon Martin/George Zimmerman story, a commenter on Media Matters website posted that they went over to Brietboob site and read a comment that read along the lines of Martin being ‘a colored savage who got what he deserved’. And this is the same right wing that complains about their racism being pointed out as “duh libz playing duh race card.”

    • 104 EDP4BHO
      April 20, 2012 at 7:31 pm

I believe all the outright display of racism makes one of my co-workers sad. Just a few years ago, he (Irish) and I had a conversation about baseball and the Negro Leagues, and I was saying I wish the League had remained intact, as it had great players who never made it big. Somehow, he thought that the racism in the country had basically disappeared, but I countered with the fact that, yes, racism indeed still exists in a big way. Of course, this was just before PBO began to run for election. He and I haven’t had that discussion since, and I am so wondering how he would handle acknowledging it. Such a shame- he’s a nice guy.

      • April 20, 2012 at 11:46 pm

EDP4BHO, you are so on point. POB’s faith will take him through this journey. He knows that with that faith, prayers, good meditations on his great gifts and that energy that is put forth daily by all of us who really do have his back will keep him going. He believes in us.

I just finished reading the article in Ebony where our First Lady is on the cover for the month of May, and she shared some beautiful comments about our President. Be encourage, we will get through this as well.

These vile, and wicked men and women are trying their best to try to bring him down, but there is power in goodness of those who believe in a higher power that is at the core of our souls that knows how to lift goodness in a man/woman up so their strength can be strengthen each moment of the way.

Chips has always told us to keep this place as a beautiful place to positively lift up and support President Obama. That is the first purpose of this site. To be that positive, sweet, compassionate, caring, and strong group of people who want the best for our nation, and want to see the best in people and support that. Yes, we get tired, weary, and upset, but we are human as well, but we have each other to regroup, refocus, and do what we need to do to get through this long and hard journey, but we will do it.

I read daily and cry more and more with my whole heart aching sometimes because I see all of the ugly, hatreful, and vile acts being brought against him, but I cry with hope and faith in those words that there are more people of goodness in this world who believe in POB and VP Joe Biden , and we will make it together. We just keep holding on and having faith to walk, run with the hope that is in our hearts.

Too many people are hurting for us to give in and up to the evil and wicked minds of these destroyers. Their day will come to pay up, and believe me, the paying the Maker will be fair and just. It may not seem like it, but just keep watch and keep your hope strong along with your hard work. We Can Make It. We Will Make It.

What a joy and blessing to be in the center of a good and decent man life who is our President. What a joy to help him daily to keep moving on no matter how many Karl Roves, Koch brothers etc., are in our paths., we will make it. I trust in God’s grace and power to do great and beautiful things through us all ,no matter where our spiritual beliefs may come together, and we respect that which is so beautiful. We know that there is a spirit within each of us to be better angels than what we see in this world today. So let us go on and show up and show off with God Almighty Creator of Goodness, Love, Light, Compassion, Caring, and Humbleness. That is who we are.HZ

I watched a bit of it and I think what I gathered I think she’s saying POTUS will be responsible for how the response is handled, and if that’s the case, she’s right. POTUS has to strike the right tone as to not destroy his credibility, and he has yet to destroy credibility with anyone else but the hard right wing.

As factory jobs return to US, the need for technical training grows

Offshoring manufacturing jobs to China looked like the perfect way to cut costs a decade ago, but now companies that produce everything from computers to car parts are returning to the United States in growing numbers. Labor economists say the country needs to invest in more vocational and technical training programs so millions of jobless factory workers are equipped with the skills to benefit from this trend.
According to a survey by the Boston Consulting Group of executives at 106 manufacturing companies with $1 billion or more in sales, 37 percent said they are planning or “actively considering” onshoring. Among companies with more than $10 billion in revenue, that percentage shot up to nearly half. Leading the movement were companies that make rubber and plastic products, industrial machinery and electronics and computer equipment.

‘Block the Vote’ Blowback: GOP photo ID voting laws have energized African-American activists.

This is great news! I heard from regular church goers in our local city that a lot of churches are participating in voter awareness, registration and Get Out the Vote in direct response to the voter suppression laws, so the movement includes progressive as well as primarily AA churches. The NAACP is also doing a magnificent job of educating people and helping them to get photo IDs. Elderly people are going to be very confused by this law and it’s yet to be determined how much this keeps this R leaning group away from the polls.

      • April 21, 2012 at 12:36 am

This is happening for sure. I can’t go into much, but trust me, they are doing a great job within the local communities where the others are trying to surpress the votes. The NAACP and many lawyers are giving their time to inform, and help.

It is blowing the other sides minds, and that is one reason you see a lot of the vile stuff coming out. But not to worry, we will get this done. Trust, believe, and do what your calling is for you wherever you feel you are called to work.

The Air Force Two plane carrying Vice President Joe Biden was struck by birds in California on Thursday, a spokeswoman for his office said, but it landed without problem and the vice president, passengers and crew were safe at all times.

The incident occurred on Thursday night as Air Force Two was landing in Santa Barbara, California. A person familiar with the situation said the landing felt normal to people on board.

On May 1, Occupy plans to shut down the Golden Gate Bridge, according to SF Weekly. A daylong action leading to the occupation of the highway span connecting San Francisco and Marin counties during the morning commute hours will begin at 6 a.m., and is intended to “show the Golden Gate Bridge Highway and Transportation District that fair wages and benefits can not be ignored,” the newspaper reported.

Sorry, I’ve been incommuncado of late. Work has been kicking serious boot-ay lately, but it’s all good. A woman’s gotta do, what a woman’s gotta do.

Anyhoo, I’m freaking beside myself with envy that the students at my alma mater get to bask in the glow of My President when he’s in Chapel Hill to tape his Jimmy Fallon segment next Tuesday. Dang I wish I could take off work and roll on back up to Blue Heaven just to stand on the side of the road and wave. Guess I’ll just have to settle for a front-row couch seat that night. My son was born in the hospital on base. I’m so thrilled. We were so lucky to be stationed in such a beautiful place. I do not think there’s anybody who can imagine just what that man deals with over the course of a twenty-four hour period.. He is able to do it because he is physically and mentally sharp, so it’s a necessity.” First Lady, Michelle Obama from article in Ebony.

Good question LunarSea. I looked that up and see that he proclaimed two. One was the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands and the other is African Burial Grounds Monument in NYC. I guess I didn’t pay too much attention to Bush either but I do recall the Hawaiian Islands one now that I think about it.

Oh crap how could I forget the African Burial Grounds in NY? It was alongside a dutch settlement. It was from before slavery. It’s that old. It was really thriving also. It is a history worth reclaiming yet it is all but forgotten.

That was huge and a stinky fight because they found it while digging with big machinery with intent to build. Construction was help up for some time before they finally won the right to keep construction away. By declaring it a Nat Monument Shrub protected it forever.

Fancy that I could forget that. Maybe the one thing he did I agreed with.

Off to see what I can find on it and how it’s faring today.

Liberty’s choice of Romney leads to angry student response

Liberty University students and alumni are accusing the Christian school of violating its own teachings by asking Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints whose adherents are called Mormons, to deliver its 2012 commencement address.

By Friday morning, more than 700 comments had been posted on the school’s Facebook page about the Thursday announcement – a majority of them decidedly against the Chancellor Jerry Falwell Jr.’s invitation, citing that the school had taught them Mormonism isn’t part of the Christian faith.

“I can’t support Romney and I am happy I decided not to walk (in the commencement) this year,” wrote student Josh Bergmann. “Liberty University should have gotten a Christian to speak not someone who practices a cult. Shame on you Liberty University.”

Janet Loeffler, a 53-year-old freshman at Liberty, expressed her anger at the decision when contacted by CNN. She also sent a copy of the page of the freshman textbook “The Popular Encyclopedia of Apologetics” which includes the passage, “Mormon doctrine stands in stark contrast to Jewish and Christian monotheism, which teaches that there is only one true God and that every other ‘God’ is a false god.”…

    http://thinkprogress.org/special/2012/04/20/468833/romney-reclaims-kobach-1070/

As Mitt Romney pivots to the general election and tries to close his big deficit with Latino voters, his campaign spent this week apparently backtracking on two key aspects of its controversial immigration policy. But it now appears to have come back full circle to its original positions.
First, the campaign tried to distance itself from controversial immigration activist Kris Kobach, the author of Arizona and Alabama’s harsh anti-immigration laws. Romney had touted Kobach as an informal adviser, but this week said he was merely a “supporter” not an “adviser.” ThinkProgress and others spoke with Kobach, who disputed the claim and said he was still advising the campaign, but nonetheless Romney’s staff again stood by their initial statement.
But today, a spokesperson agreed in an email to CNN that Kobach is indeed an “informal adviser.”
Secondly, the Romney campaign asserted that when the presumed presidential nominee said during a Republican primary debate that Arizona is “a model,” he was referring to the state’s E-Verify law, not its anti-immigration law, the Kobach-backed SB-1070.
But newly-confirmed immigration adviser Kobach disputed this as well. “He stated very publicly that Arizona’s law should be a model for how the federal government enforces its immigration laws. And he’s correct there too,” Kobach told CNN of SB-1070. Indeed, Romney’s “self-deportation” policy shares the same basic approach as Arizona’s law.
Kobach went on to say that he doesn’t expect Romney — who had the harshest immigration policy of any Republican presidential candidate — to moderate his stances at all when facing President Obama. “I think it would be unusual for a national presidential candidate to back away from statements he’s made in debates and he hasn’t shown any sign of doing so,” Kobach said.
Indeed, it will be very hard for Romney, whose PAC was one of the largest donors to Kobach’s campaign for Kansas Secretary of State, to distance himself from his immigration adviser or the law in Arizona.

    He lied AGAIN??????????????

    What Would Michelle Do website

    <strong<Excerpt

    However does she do it?

How does First Lady Michelle Obama juggle the many hats she must don daily without ever breaking the proverbial sweat that would surely dismantle her perfectly coiffed bob?

Whether hula hooping in the front yard of the White House alongside schoolkids or wowing foreign dignitaries at an official state dinner, Michelle Obama approaches whatever situation she’s in with a steely calm and humble grace remarkably reminiscent of many of the iconic women who’ve come before her. This has ushered her into an elite club of women who need only be referenced by their first name to garner instant recognition and unyielding reverence. As vivid images of Michelle surface on television, on popular Web sites, and in fashion magazines, names like Grace, Audrey, and Jackie spring to mind. Michelle has joined the ranks of these fabulous women who all used their signature kitten-heel pumps to walk right into our hearts, leaving an indelible mark.

It seems like you could take a highlight reel from all of those and turn it into an advertisement and run it over and over again with video of HIM directly lying on camera. The hardest part would be figuring out how to make it short enough.

“I know how the economy works.” Nooo. How? When? What evidence is there? A horrible record in Massachusetts? He didn’t even run for re-election because he knew he would lose. His ONE laudable achievement was his heath care reform and he’s refusing to allow that it could be good for ALL Americans. Ok, gonna start spewing I’ll stop.

But some poll said that people thought we were going in the wrong direction. And why is it that MSNBC has to always talk about the NBC/WSJ poll, because it’s part of NBC. There are different polls which shows different things, some shows POTUS leading with the economy. But that is not mention.

“Seth Meyers killed Donald Trump”, and then President crushed his quivering carcass into the ground. Not to mention what he also did to Bin Laden.

What was that VPOTUS said about him? “Backbone like a ramrod” – wasn’t it? Yeh, that’s it!!

careful here, he may remember that if you can find waterways to get you up to the coastal towns such as Mombasa, you can row slowly until you get to one of those US Carriers guarding the shipping route against the pirates

Once again Mitt Romney is not telling the truth about the President’s record and it’s no surprise why. He is not only on the wrong side of every Hispanic voter priority, but also Hispanics stand to lose the most from Romney’s insistence on the same failed economic policies that created the economic crisis, including his plans to give massive tax breaks to millionaires and billionaires at the expensive of economic growth and the middle class, allow Wall Street write its own rules again, and even let foreclosures “hit the bottom.”  President Obama believes we should grow our economy and create jobs that reward hard work and responsibility, and we are seeing results.  Under the President’s leadership, we’ve seen 25 straight months of private-sector job growth, 2 million Hispanics have been kept out of poverty, taxes on small businesses have been cut 18 times and Hispanic unemployment has declined 2.1%.

By now it is clear to everyone that Mitt Romney is a bold face liar. Even some of the media are starting to see that.

Priorities USA Action, a super PAC endorsed by President Barack Obama, reported its best fundraising month with a March haul of $2.5 million, according to a report filed Friday with the Federal Election Commission. The super PAC, run by former White House communications aide Bill Burton, had struggled to raise money while Republican super PACs raised huge sums until the president’s endorsement.
The super PAC’s money came from some unexpected sources. Unlike the Republican super PACs with their well-known donors, Priorities USA Action’s donor list does not read like a rock star list of Democratic donors. There is no George Soros, Peter Lewis, Haim Saban or Steve Bing. Instead, there are less-known individuals and, in what might become a trend, a high-profile, foul-mouthed comedian.
In March, the biggest donor to Priorities USA Action was Amy Goldman, with a $1 million contribution. Goldman, an author and activist based in upstate New York, has been called “perhaps the world’s premier vegetable gardener.” Last year, she gave $1 million to the super PAC run by Planned Parenthood.

That is 4.5 million in 2 months! Getting better!

some of these very rich Dem donors who gave to the Clintons in the past seem to have “checked out” and not done the same for PBO. I wonder WHY?

      • April 21, 2012 at 1:29 am

Hurt feelings! Also, the Obama camp does not know them!

I wouldn’t worry too much about those PUMA donors. Let them donate to Willard if they want and grapple with their nasty consciences when he LOSES in November. Remember, president Obama out-raised Hillary Clinton in 2007-08, even with her big donors.

On another note, I saw that the NYTimes has another false headline today “Obama Sees Steep Dropoff in Cash From Major Donors.” I didn’t even bother reading the article because I know it’s garbage. And I won’t link it here either. I know the article is BS. Just last year, the same NYTimes put out a hit piece on the President’s fundraising – that time claiming that Obama was in trouble with small individual donors. Now we know that was a ton of hogwash because a few weeks (or days) after article, the Obama camp released their numbers for that quarter, showing not just a a record-breaking haul for that quarter, but a huge increase in NEW small individual donors over and above their already impressive showing from the 2008 campaign.

The NYTimes to date has not posted ANYTHING negative about Romney’s fundraising -how weak he is in small donors relative to Obama; how the majority of his fundraising (more than 85%) comes from big corporations, rich individual donors. How he is mostly relying on SuperPacs to fuel his campaign based on lies, hate, bigotry, xenophobia, misogyny and duplicity. At a time when the country is still suffering the effects of the greed and abuses of the Bush administration, Republicans in congress, and large corporations and Wall Street, you would think that a presidential candidate relying primarily on those entities to fund his/her campaign would be a huge liability – something to be criticized and condemned, not something to be ignored or praised. Wasn’t that what OWS supposedly about in the first place? So why the utter and noticeable silence coming from the media on Romney’s failure to attract ordinary small donors? And conversely why does the media consider it a “problem” for Obama because much of his fundraising is now coming from small donors – when just a year ago, they were busy braying that his inability to attract small donors would be his “problem?”

Hi, Hopefruit, I get my first news of the day off of Google news and Google puts up a story and then shows several different headlines from different papers, but on the same subject. I saw the bs NY Times headline, which I already knew was false, but cracked up when I saw the other headlines under it saying the exact opposite. It made the Times look stupid.

Fuck ratzi, the nazi. You go Sisters. If they’re on twitter, we should support them like hell. (pun intended)

The leader of a group of US nuns the Vatican accuses of flouting Church teaching has rejected the claims.

“I’ve no idea what they’re talking about,” Sister Simone Campbell, head of Network, a Catholic social justice lobby, told the BBC.

“Our role is to live the gospel with those who live on the margins of society. That’s all we do.”

On Wednesday the Vatican announced a crackdown on US nuns long considered too liberal by the church hierarchy.

    ///
Sister Campbell suggested that her organisation’s vocal support for President Barack Obama’s healthcare bill was behind the slapdown.

“There’s a strong connection,” she said. “We didn’t split on faith, we split on politics.”

American Bishops saw the Obama administration’s Affordable Care Act as backing state-funded abortion. The nuns disagreed.

Commuter rail riders will be able to purchase and display tickets on their smartphones later this year, instead of fumbling with cash or fishing for prepaid paper tickets and passes, under an agreement signed Friday by the MBTA.

With an estimated two-thirds of riders carrying smartphones, the application could also make fare collection more efficient on crowded trains and reduce on-board cash transactions for the MBTA, which runs the nation’s fifth-busiest commuter rail network.

Mobile ticketing applications are widely used in England, but the T would be the first major US commuter rail to offer passengers an alternative to paper.
