    I remember this event. PBO was shying away from the digging and FLOTUS basically told him to get his ass to work. It was so cute. His shoes were ruined at the end of the day but it was so much fun to watch he and FLOTUS’s interaction and his interaction with the other volunteers.

      Saul said Romney backs the Arizona law, known as SB1070, just not as a model for the country.

      “Gov. Romney supports the right of states to craft laws that assist the federal government in enforcing immigration laws, particularly when the federal government has failed in its duty to enforce those laws,” Saul said.

      In a videotaped interview posted on the Christian Broadcasting Network’s web site on September 15, 2011, Romney does state his support for the Arizona law.

      “Well, I support the Arizona law by recognizing what Arizona has done – underscored the failure of the federal government to do its job,” Romney said in the interview.

      Kobach sees only clarity in Romney’s position on the law.

      “He stated very publicly that Arizona’s law should be a model for how the federal government enforces its immigration laws. And he’s correct there too,” Kobach said.

      Not going to fly! The Feds have done more on immigration issues than ANY President for years! Some of whwat they have done, I wasn’t happy with….they have since stopped doing those.
      This guy has more positions than Karma Sutra. Lies beget lies, beget lies……

      This is a real problem in our area where everything is built around the convenience of cars. Since Republicans take all the local elective offices, we can never get any consideration for bike and walking paths. My husband and I try to walk wherever we can and there are just so many times when we just can’t get there from here because the roads are too dangerous for pedestrians. I hope this movement catches on big time.

    Just a short list of the “problems” the media said that Barack Obama had during the 2008 campaign. Never in all my years did I see a candidate saddled with so many so called problems. If they world lie about something so small and trivial, he had to know what they would do about the stuff that actually mattered. So, no phony barbecues and Georgetown salons.     In a press release on NASCAR’s official webpage, details were released on how the sport plans to make awareness on eco friendly programs. All weekend long NASCAR has several activities programed around the track.

        LH, Romney always starts from the premise that people are stupid and if he spends enough money he can sell the anything like a conman . He starts from this position because he has no respect for people and therefore thinks he can use them like so many pieces of tissue. He could truly care less what happens to Hispanics as long as he keeps his corporate bosses and rich friends happy. Because he does not see groups of people as even human, he’s assuming that getting their acquiescence to voting for him will be easy and then he can just toss them aside. But most people are on to his game and have no desire to be played and less than zero interest in promoting his sorry rear.

I was listening to an interview with David Corn yesterday and he iterated how PBO would wait, while too many thought he was being soft, until the rethugs showed their hand, time and again, and he would come up with a killer plan. PBO has always said he is a good counter-puncher. Remember the video where he says “I’ll knock you out” ? So let them parade Bozo around for all to hear and see.     OT but was just moved to tears about a segment on CNN——about that high school kid with Down’s Syndrome in a small town in northern Mi. —-was on the basketball team, usually got to play in the final seconds. Last year he made the most of it in a playoff game, shot and made a 3 pointer and both sides of the stadium stood and cheered—-the story got national exposure. This year he made an extra point during a football game, was carried off the field, stadium cheered. Parents were so moved, kid seemed so proud. And now here’s the problem. Because he was held back a year in elem. school because of his Down’s Syndrome, he will be 19 during his sr. year and has been declared ineligible to participate in h.s. sports. Doesn’t this seem a perfect time when an outdated and inappropriate rule could be amended to allow the decent thing? So far, parents’ appeals have been turned down twice.

      That’s exactly right Jovie. The media has tried to snatch the bully pulpit from this president in several ways. Apart from the GOP weekly address, we have Meet the Republicans Sunday. Every time the President gives a speech or address to the nation, we have this panel of RW water carriers known as “pundiots” to blunt and distort the President’s message under the guise of “analysis” and “grading.” Even before he speaks they attempt to undermine the effectiveness of his message with constant “advice” about what he should and shouldn’t say, and how this will be his make or break speech. It’s sickening. I’m just optimistic that the American people will send one swift STFU message to the media on Nov 6th.

    Priorities USA, a super-PAC focused on reelecting President Obama, has asked former President Bill Clinton to help them pick up the pace on fundraising.
    Democratic donors have been resistant to giving to the group. This is partly because of liberals’ hesitation about super-PACs in general and partly because Sean Sweeney and Bill Burton, the two former White House staffers heading the group, aren’t as plugged in to the fundraising world as those helping some of the Republican groups, which include heavy-hitters like Karl Rove and Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour (R).

    A top Interior Department official marked the two-year anniversary of the BP oil spill Friday with pledges to continue enhancing offshore drilling safety standards.

    Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement Director James Watson penned a column that touts upcoming drilling and workplace safety requirements, which he says will build on standards that were toughened in the wake of the disaster.

    Watson, writing in The Houston Chronicle, says this will include measures to “usher in a new generation” of blowout preventers, which are failsafe devices that are supposed to contain undersea well ruptures. The blowout preventer on the Deepwater Horizon rig that was drilling BP’s Macondo well failed to deploy correctly.

    WE ARE DOING THIS and the ground game is the way to GET THIS DONE!!!!! WOO HOOO.

    Every one on this board should find a way to volunteer for your local Obama office. It a great work out, or make some phone calls. If you can’t make calls, help out around the office. Or take ‘em a coffee pot or some fresh fruit.

        I was out of town all day today (Sunday). I was in Wash DC where it poured all day long. It was cold and pretty nasty there. Was it a total washout in Phila? I know the fallback plan was to make calls if people didn’t want to canvass in the pouring rain.

        But, yes, I will be there election day.

          Thanks ck. It was a mixed blessing. I spent 2 weeks in the WI Dells listening to squirrel farts and grass growing. I was kinda amazed at the laid back ‘tudes of the voters in that state.
          Since it’s gonna take a day or two to catch up, be advised shipmates, that while I was on liberty I don’t take kindly to comments about my seamanship and ability to maintain a steady helm. Some of you are deserving of some brig time. :-(

    The suggestion that President Obama’s reelection team will try to use Mitt Romney’s Mormon faith against him is “utter nonsense,” the chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee said this week.

    “That is just preposterous,” Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz said in an interview with MSNBC on Wednesday when asked about recent comments from Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch, a Mormon himself, who suggested Tuesday that the president’s reelection team is “going to throw the Mormon church at [Romney] like you can’t believe.”

    “That suggestion is utter nonsense. Let’s remember that President Obama has had so many things hurled at him—birth certificate questions, whether he is or is not a Christian,” Wasserman continued (via Politico). “For them to suggest that religion will be injected [into the election] by President Obama and the Democratic Party, I mean, I think they need to take a look inward at the accusations that their party and their supporters have hurled before they take that step.”

      I love how whenever one door closes for this president, another one opens. The new door often offers wider, bigger opportunities and reward. When Chicago lost its bid for the Olympics and the msm tried to make it a commentary on PBO, he won the Nobel Peace Prize the same week; after the debacle of the mid-term elections, he still managed to outfox congress to save various programs and funding; whenever there was an environmental/weather disaster (BP oil spill, tornadoes, flooding), the msm has been waiting breathlessly for “Obama’s Katrina” but when the various agencies, especially FEMA, out-perform all expectations and no one is complaining, you never hear anything else about these events, it is as if they did not happen. After being called Obambi and not being strong and smart enough to answer the 3 am call, the president out performs as CIC, by getting public enemy #1 osama bin ladin (he deserves only lower case letters) And his lieutenants, ends the Iraqui war responsibiy. Because he treats other countries and their heads of state with respect, he is insulted by being called servile and un-American, but under his leadership the USA is respected and admired again, and our leader is welcome and applauded everywhere he goes (Bush and Cheney cannot leave the country). I could go on, but one of the major accomplishments is that he does all of this while “presidenting being Black.” The haters and racist have thrown everything at him and he presses on because he is the President of the United States for all of our citizens.
