“I ran against him in ‘07 and ‘08, I have never seen a guy change his positions on so many things, so fast, on a dime, everything.”
“What will Barack Obama do to that? ….. This is a man (Mitt Romney) without a core, this a man without a substance, this is a man who will say anything to become President of the United States. I think that is a great vulnerability.”
Today?
Guiliani endorsed Romney.

Already?
A new post already? I can’t believe it!
Congrats vcprezfan2!
VC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you, all!
Chips, wouldn’t you know, I entered my comment and before I could really start to assimilate my victory, the phone rang. I keep telling you my phone is triggered by your posting mechanism when I’m online, and you don’t believe me.
It was actually a syner-call for me to work on May 10th. You’d think they would time it better!
Love my combination prize! Thanks!
“I keep telling you my phone is triggered by your posting mechanism when I’m online”
Hmm…………………
‘Hmmm’ is right. I FEAR it’s a tactic you’ve devised to try to keep me from the podium, but you shan’t … (Oooo, where did THAT word come from? I haven’t seen that in ages! I do believe my mind is regressing, but that’s another story) …prevail.
Hello TOD Family. Cam’t believe I’m first.
Hey I can’t believe there’s another post already lol……….good for you joyfulmeme.
I’ll share with you, JM., by letting you choose a part of my prize.
The buttons are baaaack! Thanks, Chip!
Really Hachikō?! I can’t claim I fixed anything, I went to the WordPress Support forum and there were lots of angry people complaining about missing like and share buttons. Looks like the techies got it fixed. Phew. Thanks Hachikō!
Although in the last two posts of your diary.. when I tweeted the link, it only showed ‘wordpress’ not The Obama Diary.. I just added The Obama Diary to the tweet.
And what does it say about Giuliani that he would then turn around endorse someone who has no core. He would have been better served to no endorse at all.
Exactly! Guiliani’s endorsement reveals HIS core, I guess.
Excellent point!
Hey Theo, sent you a DM a minute or two ago.
Just saw it and responded – sorry, I was in transit.
My first thought..What does that make rudy ghouliani? CORELESS TO THE MARROW.
A noun, a verb then 911.
Can someone tell me how PBO’s college transcripts are relevant to any discussion? They are some trolls harassing me in my twitter mentions.
We know the ‘thinking’ on this, Collegekay.
PBO isn’t really that bright, he was an affirmative action baby, he’s actually pretty stupid, the proof is in his skin color.
That’s what that line is all about.
Tell them and their racist asses to go **** themselves.
Seriously, has any other Presidential candidate released their academic transcript?
Ask them for Bush’s transcripts.
Ask them for the last 10 years of Romney taxes – which are a lot more RELEVANT to our knowledge of what his presidential economic priorities will be.
Scratch that…he did release his undergrad transcript from Yale…C average…probably did it to make people feel like he the kind of smart that intimidates stupid people.
In fairness, CollegeKay, GWB released his – very impressive and authentic it was too:
/falls out
Collegekay, if I were you, I would us this very “transcript” that Ms Chips has provided to you and tweet it out to those racially-challenged people bothering you about PBO’s academic records
I think they also believe he was a foreign student. LOLz.
Is that the same as having sex with yourself?
In many ways, yes, entirely
Okay, let every college transcripts of pass Presidents be release, and let their tax returns be release also. Birth certificates too. These people who are talking about college transcripts are crazy, they know Mitt Romney is hiding something about his tax returns, so they are trying to destract us.
Willful ignorance like that deserves no defense..they need to be the recipients of a Good Offense! They’re as Ignorant as the rw brainwashers want them to be.
Guilliani just admitted he’s lacking as much as Romney.. how does he justify putting someone “with no core” into the Presidency? As long as its a repub and not Barack Obama, these people care nothing about our country.
I DO BELIEVE THE AMERICAN PEOPOLE ARE QUITE LATE WAKING UP TO THIS FACT…THOSE AGAINST THIS PRESIDENT ARE STRICTLY OUT TO REMOVE HIM AT ALL COST…EVEN THEIR OWN…SHAMEFUL…IGNORANCE IS NOT BLISS!
Oh, I just tweeted the same sentiment before seeing you had already said it. We’re on the team wavelength.
GOP talk a lot about American exceptionalism, point out Romney’s 100s of undeniable faults, yet expect the country to embrace him. How exceptional is it to settle for a mediocre candidate about whom even his staunchest supporters think very little? These guys have no logic.
Mitt Romney & Rudy Giuliani: A match made in heaven…
These guys and gals truly do not have any comprehension of the 21st Century ….
#PRESSON
#PRESSON
Sorry, Chips, that link was supposed to be to a tweet not the vid!!
#PRESSON
Ooooooh, you being Bobfr, I think I’ll forgive you. Love ya, you magnificent warrior
Thank you dear Chips!! Onward!!
Yes We Can … DO More Together!
BTW, you have created an exceptionally positive and important community that will definitely be one of the reasons Barack H Obama is re-elected President of the United States on 6 Nov 2012.
Thank you Chips!
‘The GOP thinks we are all fools.
SO you’ll all have to disabuse them of the idea on Nov. 6th! Together. We. Can.
Ugh..Giuliani is FUGLY. Inside and out. He has done the exact thing he accused Willard of – flip-flopping. Birds of a feather flock together!
Yes, Romney is a man without a core but the real question should be what does that make Guiliani and McCain who know the real Romney yet turn around and endorse him?
Ben LaBolt! oooooh…la…la. The things I would do. The Democratic party has some very very very very HOT men.
Starting with from the top of the ticket going right down to the assistant deputy aide!
You saying HOT men have a liberal bias?? {Okay, sorry UTAL. I know I shouldn’t encourage you to add anything that might get you to the naughty mat, but the temptation was great! I confess that your comments sometimes leave me speechless.}
Of course we do.
I’m excited for PBO’s visits to the college campuses. I love it when he’s amongst the youngins.
Do you know when exactly he’s giving the speech tomorrow? I think depending on the time I will miss it, unhappily.
10:05 AM: PBO honors 2012 National Teacher of the Year and finalists at the W.H.
10:35: Departs the W.H. for Andrews Joint Air Force Base.
10:50: Departs Andrews Air Force Base for Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
11:50: Arrives in North Carolina.
1:00: Michelle Obama delivers the keynote address at Girls Inc. of Omaha’s 12th annual lunch.
1:15: PBO delivers remarks on student loans.
2:20: PBO is interviewed for “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.”
3:40 Departs North Carolina for Colorado.
6:00: Michelle Obama meets with Obama campaign volunteers from the Des Moines area.
7:10: PBO arrives in Colorado.
8:45: PBO delivers remarks at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Damn! I’m gonna miss the 1pm speech. I’ll see the 8pm one though.
See? Young people. No commitment. Oh well.
Yeah, he’s really lost the Yutes, as Joe Pesci would say.
(BTW, has Joe Pesci fallen off the face of the earth? For a while he was in every single damned movie.)
Joe Pesci has a pretty funny Snickers commercial that gets some rotation, that’s about it. Loved him in Goodfellas and Lethal Weapon 2 though.
CK, don’t you just hate how classes and work and life in general interfere in our ability to follow this president around? I do. It’s sooo ‘unfair’
Thanks Chips for this extensive schedule! I will also have to miss the 1PM speech but I will see the 8:45PM speech. I will set my DVR for Jimmy Fallon at 12:35AM on Wed
Good evening Chips and TOD family!!!! It’s been a beautiful sunny spring day here in MT. I have very busy today come by this evening and I am many posts behind. Much has gone on today so I have lots of reading to do.
For Rudy to support Willard is a real flip flop. A man with no core!
I wouldn’t expect any less from Giuliani. I’m sure he sees a kindred spirit in his core-less brother. Small spirits, small minds.
Thought it was kinda funny—-I mean, real funny—–that Mn. GOP kicked out of their headquarters for non-payment of rent—–$100,000 worth. And that seems to just be a small segment of their financial woes—owe over a mill on credit card plus other grave financial difficulties. Too bad, so sad.
*evil laughter* They spent all the money on recounts…..and lost.. Bwaaaaaaaahaaaaaahaaaaaa!
http://www.tvnewslies.com/tvnl/index.php/news/politics/23602-minnesota-gop-served-with-eviction-papers-for-nonpayment-of-rent.html
I told you all God has a sense of humor
And they have the nerve to talk against President Obama and the economy and can’t even manage their own financial things. Boy oh boy.
I think back to 2008. Although there was the PUMA action going on that got silly and sometimes ugly, I can’t remember any of the candidates themselves having such nasty things to say about each other. It’s clear, though, that even though they’re circling the wagons now, almost all of Willard’s fellow republicans simply dislike the man. His opponents in 2008 also hated his guts. Never seen anything like it.
PJ, I started to say this very thing earlier, then shrugged and erased it. I could remember them generally trying to point out weaknesses in ideas and approach, but can’t remember such heavy assaults on personal characteristics. Then again, we had a better calibre of candidates.
This is the perfect thread to repost this scathing article about Mitt and his presidential rivals in 2008.
The ‘I Hate Romney’ Club
By Ana Marie Cox – Sunday, Feb. 03, 2008
—————————–
But this week it was Giuliani who dropped out of the race and endorsed McCain, praising him as an “American hero.”
The endorsement was a reflection of the authentic respect McCain and Giuliani have for each other. But that’s not all the two candidates share. The endorsement deal was solidifed when both campaigns stayed at the Deerfield Hilton in Florida, following the Republican debate in Boca Raton on January 24. The two campaigns’ staff mingled easily over drinks. Acknowledging that his candidate was not likely to survive a defeat in Florida, a Giuliani aide approached one of the McCain senior staffers. Come Wednesday, he said, “Just tell us what want us to do — we’ve got to stop him.”
“Him,” of course, is Mitt Romney, the candidate who seems to be uniting his Republican rivals almost as much as Hillary Clinton.

What is the date of the fundraisers Warren Buffet will be holding for President Obama?
Unknown, not decided yet!
http://motherjones.com/mojo/2012/04/warren-buffett-barack-obama-fundraiser-omaha
Warren Buffett, the billionaire investor and philanthropist who lent his name to President Barack Obama’s proposal to raise the tax rate on the wealthy, will host a fundraiser for the president on Tuesday at the Omaha Hilton. First Lady Michelle Obama is scheduled to attend, as is Susie Buffett, Warren’s daughter and a prominent philanthropist.
A Obama campaign official told Mother Jones that approximately 200 people are slated to attend the event. Despite Buffett’s standing as one of the world’s richest persons, the event is not for only the top 1-percenters. Tickets start at $250 a person. The money raised will go to the Obama Victory Fund, the president’s main re-election war chest.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Piers Morgan. Let the fireworks begin.
Oh, thank you! Off to catch him!
The final version of a strategic partnership deal being drafted between the U.S. and Afghanistan will not include any funding guarantees for Afghan security forces, according to a Pentagon official.
Washington and Kabul agreed to a draft version of the deal on Sunday that sets the “strategic parameters” for future U.S. involvement in Afghanistan for the next 10 years, beginning in 2014, DOD spokesman Capt. John Kirby said Monday.
All U.S. troops are scheduled to leave Afghanistan by 2014. Roughly 23,000 American soldiers are set to rotate back to the United States this summer.

Ahhhh….crap I’m going to miss the 1:15PM speech. Why do I have to attend classes again? Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy……….
Because you eventually want to pay back your student loans?
Whaaaaaat?????!!!!?????? You mean I have to pay back my student loans?
That’s what I said.
Piers just asked Rahm to give Pres. Obama a school report and grade on his first term in office. Rahm’s WTF expression was priceless.
Piers’ questioning skills are SOOO weak! Has he asked Rahm yet what he thinks of the President?
Well, Piers IS an Arsenal supporter. That says it all about his judgment right there.
True, anyone who would support a London club needs to be exterminated. Cough.
If I had world enough and time—and money—I’d split my time between L.A. and London. Some day. *le sigh*
Poor judgement all around, eh? It sure shows. Though I’m football challenged, I can infer that Arsenal does not rank with Chelsea, Man. United or Barcelona (?). By the time you, UTAL, Tally & CC are finished with me I’ll be a pseudo-expert on the European football teams; I might even know the names of the HOT players!
This is why I always loved Rahm. He isn’t scared of telling you you’re full of shit, regardless of party affiliation.
Piers Morgan VS Martin Bashir? my money is on Mr Bashir on an intellectual level.
NASA is planning to fly its retiring space shuttle Enterprise from Washington to New York on Wednesday, officials said Monday.
The agency’s flight of it space shuttle Discovery from the Kennedy Space Center to the National Air and Space Museum’s Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center at Dulles Airport in northern Virginia captivated officials in Washington last week.
The agency is now planning to fly the shuttle Discovery is replacing, Enterprise, to New York to be housed at Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum, providing another opportunity for shuttle watchers to view one of the vehicles atop a 747 airplane.
NASA said Monday that Enterprise’s flight plan is dependent on a weather briefing Tuedsay morning. The agency said the shuttle will be flown at a low altitude over New York as Discovery was over Washington to allow residents to get better view.

Another one!
The Senate on Monday night advanced a Democratic bill that would reauthorize the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), and is expected to take up that bill as early as Wednesday.
By unanimous consent, members approved the motion to proceed to the Violence Against Women Reauthorization act, S. 1925, which will let the Senate immediately start debate on that bill as soon as it finishes work on the postal reform bill. The Senate is hoping to complete work on the postal bill, S. 1789, on Tuesday.
Senate Democrats are eager to push ahead with their bill to reauthorize VAWA, while Republicans are looking to advance their own version that does not increase the deficit and fixes elements that the GOP sees as problems under the current program.

Future News: Barcelona petition FIFA to declare possession more important than goals.
I really shouldn’t be LOLing at the reference desk. It’s unprofessional.
Rahm is on fire! He’s ticking off accomplishment after accomplishment wrought by PBO. Man oh man are they impressive.
OOOh…Chips can you post this segment with Rahm on Piers if at all possible? Thanks so much in advance!
That’s one thing I love about Rahm. He has always been in President Obama’s corner. They go waaaaaay back.
NOW Willard says he backs lower student loan rates? Interesting timing there, Ike—-I mean, Willard. And he’s now speaking everywhere behind a “Obama’s Not Working” double meaning sign? Disgusting.
http://2012.talkingpointsmemo.com/2012/04/romney-blunts-obama-attack-by-backing-lower-student-loan-rates.php?ref=fpnewsfeed
Giuliani, said that Mitt Romney is a man without a core.
Willard wants the for-profit college industry campaign donations.
The Senate confirmed the nomination of Brian Wimes as U.S. District Judge for the eastern and western districts of Missouri on Monday.
Wimes was confirmed in a vote of 91-1. Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) was the nay vote.
The confirmation is part of a deal reached by Senate Democrats and Republicans to confirm 14 of President Obama’s 17 judicial nominees by May 7th. A week earlier the Senate confirmed the nomination of Stephanie Dawn Thacker as United States Circuit judge for the Fourth Circuit.

Be nice if he got all those vacancy Judges in, before Election. About 85 more to go!
Ron Paul won Iowa??
WTH!!!
At this point I don’t quite know what to believe with regard to the any of the GOP primaries. They are all corrupt! Willard was the designated nominee and regardless of who actually won what, Willard was going to be declared the winner.
Huh??
Say it again? First, Robney won, 1 mobth adter that- Santorum won,, four months later- Paul wins!
Next year, they will find out that Guiliani won Iowa.
Mary and Joseph!
Are you kidding? Ron Paul won Iowa. I turn to Rachel and saw her saying something about Paul winning Minnesota. My, my, my, this Republican primary has been a disaster. If this doesn’t show America that the only choice, the right choice, Nov. 6th is President Barack Obama.
That is Rachels candidate- Ron Paul, she loves him!
Wait, WHAT!? Where?
I just heard Rachel say that Ron Paul won Iowa. Also, would someone please tell me why 4k people stood in the rain to see Paul in PA this past weekend?
4k, as in 4,000 people. Fanatics, maybe. Hell, the man could open up a school, but fuck winning a campaign.
Yes, Rachel said 4k in the rain.
Shocker.
Elizabeth Warren won the endorsement of the League of Conservation Voters Monday in her bid to unseat incumbent Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.).
The news, while not a surprise, officially aligns the environmental movement’s two biggest political campaign operations with Warren’s election bid. The Sierra Club, the green movement’s other political powerhouse, endorsed Warren earlier this month.
“LCV Action Fund is proud to endorse Elizabeth Warren for Senate because she understands that the policies needed to bring jobs to Massachusetts and keep America’s competitive edge are the same policies that will reduce our dependence on oil and curb harmful pollution,” LCV Action Fund President Gene Karpinski said in a statement.

Rahm is just great on Piers Morgan right now.
Piers Morgan met his match tonight. Rahm was not in the mood for his doom and gloom BS. He ticked off PBO’s accomplishments, ticked off PBO’s vision for America, and spurned Romney’s vision for America. Good TV. Most definitely, good TV!
I’m going to break my rule about Pierce Morgan and actually watch tonight. I’m in the mood for a smackdown viewing.
Sean Penn is saying some very nice things about the President!
Awesome! Wish Sean would take matt damon & cusack to school.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-partisan/post/be-ready-for-goofy-polls/2012/04/23/gIQAEqabcT_blog.html
You’ve heard this from me before, and you’re going to hear it from me again: we’re going to see more oddball polling results this year. Don’t be fooled by them.
snip/
The bottom line is that all the data help us know more about what’s going on, as long as we use it well – which means focusing on the averages, and not individual, anomalous readings. Remind yourself: we’re expecting a lot of those anomalies. In both directions. Just get ready to ignore them.
For all the nail biters here….
thanks a lot for the feedback on Sean Penn. He definitely understands the challenges that PBO faced and still faces and is willing to acknowledge the progress achieved
Morgan should not have asked Sean Penn stupid questions that man don’t take no mess. He truly stands by his convictions, always consistent.
Sean Penn has conviction, Matt Damon doesn’t. We have to remind people what this President has had to deal with. Let people know that this wasn’t just the President’s job to fix things, it was up to Congress and the Senate to help him. But what did the Republicans do? Obstruct, filibuster, block, anything which could have help the economy and put people back to work. Remember the President’s job bill the Republicans block. A bill which would have help put teachers, firefighters, policemen, and construction workers back to work. The Republicans were more concern about winning in November, then people struggling. They put their party ahead of the country, they should have been working with the President in trying to get this country back on the right track, but they didn’t.
I forgot about that Cusacki guy, he ain’t sh*t either. He was on the View last week and I did not watch him.
When it comes to these celebrities, I only take seriously the ones who’ve actually put some energy into making difficult things happen, because they know how hard it is to change things or make things better. Sean Penn actually lived in Haiti to help people out there. George Clooney has risked his life and his money to help the people of Darfur. Brad Pitt moved to Louisiana to build (green) homes for people out there. I don’t know what they’re like in real life, but at least they have credibility for commenting about someone doing a very hard job in very difficult circumstances to help people. Matt Damon – I know he’s been associated with some important charitable works, but I have to question how much he actually did himself to make progress, if he can attack the President and claim he’s done nothing. Only a person who has never tried something difficult can look at someone who has tried and succeeded and call it a failure.
Thanks, UT! I feel he’s talking Directly to Damon & Cusacki.
Love Sean Penn..thank goodness he knows how to use his brain.
Great tweets UT! You’re on fire! I’m dying to see the video with the two of them.
Wow. That’s an excellent string of tweets UT. Re-tweeting like crazy here!

I thought the WHCD was normally only carried by CSPAN? Now I see that MSNBC is advertising that they will be also carrying this year’s dinner…hmmm….
MSNBC covered it last year which is where I watched it.
Okay
If anyone is planning to attend the inauguration in January to witness President Obama being sworn in, heads up – hotels are already selling out. When I called, there were only two hotels in the vicinity with decent prices (i.e. $360/night for double room), and air tickets are already starting to skyrocket. Apartment/condo/townhouse rentals on sites like “HomeAway.com” look like they’re filled already with a lot of the usual providers. If you are planning to be there, book at least your hotel now! You can usually cancel up to the day before. A good site which will search all the local hotels with you over the phone is dcluxuryhotels.com – good luck! A couple of us have already booked.
Ya Luckies! Good on ya! I know Chips was there last time~
My plan is to do what I did in ’08. Treat myself to 1st class Acela Amtrak accommodations and ride back home on the train. Once he’s sworn in, that’s all the party I need!!!
Excellent idea – we can still all try and connect while we’re out there. I live in California, so doing a day trip won’t make much sense.
Isonnnnn,,,
I will be on that train with you……
Anybody from NYC want to take Amtrak early that morning and come back that evening? We could meet up and maybe meet the others in DC.
SOUNDS LIKE A PLAN TO ME
Good for those Nuns.
Bravissima! Are they risking ex-communication?
Is Andrea Saul related to Rudy?
http://maddowblog.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/04/23/11356676-a-wheeling-and-dealing-miami-lobbyist?lite
what Saul used to to say about Rubio, just a couple of years ago.
* “Rubio has proved he is just another typical politician who uses his public office for personal gain and only comes clean once caught.”
* “With each passing day, voters are beginning to see the real Speaker Rubio, a tax raising Miami lobbyist-politician who has used public office for personal gain and political donations as a personal slush fund.”
* “This Marco Rubio is a wheeling and dealing Miami lobbyist and politician, always trying to scam the system for his personal benefit.”
* “Instead of answering all of the many questions surrounding his questionable spending habits, Speaker Rubio instead continues to do the Rubio hustle and refuses to release his tax returns in a timely manner.”

As Karl’s report concluded, “[S]ome of the harshest things you will find said about Marco Rubio in the public record were said by the person who now speaks for Mitt Romney.”
Curious. Why would any republcon mouthpiece say anything so true about another repub who wasn’t in the primaries?

the067: what hotel would you recommend?
A few of us are staying at the Donovan Hotel – still close enough to the action. But, if you call the number on dcluxuryhotels.com, they will work with your price range and preferences and give you some options. They had more expensive options and there are others that I’m sure are maybe less expensive, but not be walking distance to all the action. I’ve worked with this team many times on visits to DC, and they’ve never let me down. Also, you can book with your credit care (no charge), and cancel up to the day before. Good luck – let me know if you decide to book, and we can make arrangements to meet up closer to the time during the festivities.
craziness.
http://www.opensecrets.org/news/2012/04/very-wealthy-conservative-individua.html
a few years back i slogged through opensecrets.org data and found that total union lobbying, that means every penny spent by every union in america spent lobbying congress, totaled 1-2% of all lobbying combined. yes, combined. unions do focus a little more on advertising rather than lobbying, but as the link above shows it’s still in the single digits of total ad spending, even with the recent uptick. i did like to see afl-cio focusing in on voter registration! knowing these facts, it shows that genius that PBO once again, in that he knew he couldn’t beat them at this game any time in the near future, so he chose to beat them in an old fashioned way called community organizing. democrats 2012!!!
A Conservative Super PAC is spending 2 million in Ohio and Florida, on the GSA scandal and targeting the President.
How is this, his fault?
Let them spend their money. Those who buy into that nonsense probably aren’t planning to vote for President Obama. Grassroots folks need to stay focused and keep reaching those who can be reached.
The previous amounts spent on such “scandals” in Ohio have not made a difference – we see them, we click to the next.
The GOP has tried this for the past month with different focuses (solar energy, gas prices etc) but all have not made a dent
People would be more upset if the story really involved something President Obama himself did but this attaching of misdeeds by public servants to PBO just makes people tune out.
Besides, how many people in America have ever heard of the GSA??
WTF is WRONG with these people???????????????????

How Michelle Obama Ended Hollywood’s Ratchet Ways
Change we can believe in. Who knows, maybe since we got “Change” in the White House we can finally get change in Hollywood.
Case in point: the first black actress to be nominated for an Oscar played a maid, and the last black actress to be nominated for an Oscar played a maid.
But times are changing and I think it has a lot to do with our First Lady Michelle Obama. For the first time in history, American women are represented by a black female in the White House. Michelle is powerful, but doesn’t have the stigma of being an “angry black woman.” She shops at J. Crew, started a Garden in the White House, reads to kids and doesn’t want children to be fat.
Michelle shined a new light on black women as a whole, and has possibly opened a lot more doors in the world of entertainment. Since Michelle and Barack are in the White House now, I feel like mainstream America is more likely to see a black film.

A pro-Israeli, neocon WaPo hack. Loves Netanyahu
She’s a nutjob – an offensive one. I’m not sure she’s worth the bother – she seems thoroughly unhinged in her hatred for President Obama. And anyone who’s still taking her seriously is just as unhinged. She’s absolutely vile.
BBC political correspondent Rob Watson says these promise to be the most dramatic few days in the Leveson Inquiry to date.
Many politicians will not be looking forward to a very public discussion of how close they became to Rupert Murdoch and his newspapers, our correspondent adds.
The Leveson Inquiry is now turning its attention to the relationship between the press and prominent politicians as part of its examination of the ethics, culture and practices of the UK’s newspapers.
Pardon my French, but this is just fucking cool.

Miniature honeycomb ‘grows nerve’
A “miniature honeycomb” – or scaffold – could one day be used to encourage damaged nerves to grow and recover, according to an international group of researchers.
The scaffold can channel clusters of nerves through its honeycomb of holes, eventually healing a severed nerve.
The findings of their study on mouse nerves are published in the journal Biofabrication.
Academics hope to one day treat spinal cord injuries with the scaffold.
When nerves are severed, such as in car accidents, it can result in a loss of feeling and movement.
Repairing this damage can be a challenge – but nerves outside of the brain and spinal cord can repair themselves, if only over short distances
I love science!
Me too:)
Yep. Reported it here yesterday, but it was late enough I’m not sure if anyone read the article.
Speaking of which, you may want to re-post your message in the morning…

Ms Chips and the Team,
Today (tomorrow for some?) tuesday afternoon, President Obama visits the University of Colorado at Boulder. Based on the local reports, people are very excited and as usual a number spent some time camping overnight or waiting in very long lines.
For those of you who need a nice “Obama-fix”, here is a bunch of super-excited students and local population as reported by the Daily Camera website .
I hope you enjoy the write up, photos and videos – because I sure did!!!
Several thousand CU-Boulder students line up for Obama tickets
By Amy Bounds, Camera Staff Writer
Updated: 04/23/2012 09:41:25 AM MDT
University of Colorado at Boulder students stood in long lines today to snag tickets to hear President Barack Obama speak Tuesday on campus, including several students who got in line in the wee hours of the morning.
At noon, the line for student tickets wound past the University Memorial Center and around Euclid AutoPark. Altogether, there were about 4,500 free tickets available for students and another 1,000 available for faculty and staff members at the University Memorial Center.
“It’s a once in a lifetime thing,” said Katie McManus, an open option freshman who waited in line about an hour and a half. “It’s important to be politically aware and involved — and this is the President. It’s super exciting.”

House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) told Fox News that his party faces a “real challenge” in holding on to its majority in the House.
Said Boehner: “We have 50 of our members in tough races, 89 freshmen running for their first reelections and we have 32 districts that are in states where there is no presidential campaign going to be run, no big Senate race and we call these orphan districts. You take 18 of them, California, Illinois and New York, where you know we’re not likely to do well at the top of the ticket and those districts are frankly pretty vulnerable.”
He added: “I would say that there is a two in three chance that we win control of the House again but there’s a one in three chance that we could lose and I’m being myself, frank. We’ve got a big challenge and we’ve got work to do.”
from political wire
Boehner is delusional. Or else this country has a lot of idiots. Who in their right mind would vote for Republicans to own the House when they’ve brought this country to the brink on multiple occasions, nearly defaulted on the country’s debts, deemed and passed a disastrous budget, tried to pass a budget that will kill Medicare and Social Security, they’ve lied and backed out of deals with the President, and they’ve stalled this country’s progress – perhaps damaging the country for years/generations to come. He thinks the GOP have a two-thirds chance of retaining the House? People just can’t be that stupid.
We HOPE they’re not that stupid! Or hope the stupid ones stay home!
That’s what I tell myself, but somebody voted in Bush, twice. And now I’ll try to get that awful thought out of my head!
Seriously.
Oh, 45% of american voters are that stupid. No question about it.
We are a pathetic, embarrassing lot. American Exceptionalism. My dying ass. Nothing exceptional about that.
Yeah well it would have been nice if they worried about OUR jobs instead of just theirs…
Surely you jest:)
And there it is! TD, that’s an excellent tweeting point!
Can’t wait…

Obama Karma: Lessons on Living Inspired by the 44th President [Hardcover]
Russell Razzaque (Author)
President Barack Obama is one of the calmest, coolest and most compelling political figures in modern times. Dealt a grueling first term of wars, recession, and bitter partisan attacks, he has remained even-tempered, level-headed, and downright Zen.
Obama’s appeal runs even deeper than the revolution his ethnicity represents. His rare combination of inner peace and outer passion, his mix of realism and idealism, are qualities that have made him an iconic figure around the globe. Extraordinary emotional intelligence is perhaps the prime quality that has drawn Barack Obama’s supporters to him through thick and thin.
In Obama Karma, Russell Razzaque analyzes key moments in the life of our forty-fourth president that reveal his depth and self-awareness, especially when confronted with challenges. While temperament is largely inherited, emotional intelligence can be learned. Through simple exercises included in the book readers can learn to improve their own life skills and interpersonal relationships.
Finally, Obama Karma helps make the case for the re-election of Barack Obama on the basis of his extraordinary leadership in a singular time in history.
my strained budget does not allow many perks but this is a book I intend to buy.
tnks a lot for highlighting it!
Maybe the library would be a good place to check first…THEN buy it if you love it. Looked good to me though…

The Rude Guide To Mitt [Kindle Edition]
Alex Pareene (Author)
Mitt Romney will be the Republican nominee for president in 2012 — but his alien weirdness makes him a very difficult candidate to get to know. Mitt not only thinks it’s perfectly fine to put a dog in a crate strapped to the top of a speeding car for a 12-hour nonstop trip, but he repeats the story years later with a chuckle. Millionaires, Mormons, unimpressive scions and ideologically fungible panderers have run for president before, in spades, but only Romney combines all those elements in one robotic package, topped off with appropriately immobile hair.
“The Rude Guide To Mitt” tells the true story of how:
Bain Capital didn’t actually do much venture capital work. Mitt Romney hates risk. Venture capital is very risky. Instead, Bain made its name, and made its investors’ fortunes, with leveraged buyouts: seizing control of companies with huge sums of borrowed money and flipping them a few years later for a massive profit.
Mitt Romney didn’t really save the Salt Lake City Olympics. He simply raised ticket prices 14 percent above the previous games and auctioned off the best tickets on the Internet. He promised Bank of America executives that they’d get paid back before taxpayers if they extended more credit. And most important, he lobbied Congress, at least until George Bush entered the White House and put Olympic spending right in his budget.
Mitt Romney did not save the Massachusetts state budget. Conventional wisdom has it that he inherited a massive budget deficit and turned it into a massive budget surplus without raising taxes. Romney did raise taxes, but he called them “fees”; the deficit ended up not being as big as projected; and half the supposed “surplus” was an accounting trick. He managed to cut 600 jobs from the sizable Massachusetts state government payroll, which he now paints as a massive and unprecedented reduction in the size of state government. (You’re allowed to brag about firing people when you fire public employees.)
Mitt Romney is very weird. He seems incapable of natural conversation and frequently uncomfortable in his own skin. He’s simultaneously dorkily earnest and ingratiatingly insincere. He suggests a brilliantly designed politician/android with an operating system still clearly in beta. All video of him attempting to interact with normal humans is cringe-inducing, as a cursory YouTube search quickly demonstrates. (Martin Luther King Day, Jacksonville, Fla., 2008: Mitt poses for a picture with some cheerful young parade attendees. As he squeezes in to the otherwise all-black group, he says, apropros of nothing, “Who let the dogs out? Woof, woof!”) He seems to have been told that “small talk” is mostly made up of cheerfully delivered non sequiturs.
Thought I’d look up that Jacksonville 2008 clip. First off, he’s kidding, right? Secondly, wtf are those folks THINKING???
It’s actually painful to watch.
It truly is. Cringe worthy.
OMG
(((cringe)))
I Know! Sick, huh? how are you TrumpDog? Seems like I haven’t seen you around much lately….

Shit Mitt Says:

Bullshit artists.
http://www.balloon-juice.com/2012/04/24/talk-is-cheaprepublican-bullshit-is-very-expensive/
So now our deficit hawks want to continue the Bush tax cuts, enact more tax cuts for the rich, expand our already bloated defense budget, and now they have even given up on their token issue to pretend they cared about spending:
Hypocrisy alert: House Republican freshmen are begging their leaders to bring back a certain type of earmark so that they can help companies back home in an election year.
In a letter to Speaker John Boehner and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, 65 House Republican freshmen — or roughly three-quarters of the class — asked that the House consider a miscellaneous tariff bill jam-packed with special provisions to suspend duties on various foreign goods, even though it runs counter to the earmark ban Republicans campaigned on in 2010 and instituted when they took power.
The push is a sign that freshmen who arrived in Washington talking up their anti-pork principles are now worried about what — if anything — they’ll have to show constituents when they hit the campaign trail. And, in typical Washington fashion, they think they’ve found a loophole that will get them past the ban.
Night all….if I’m talking to myself, must be bedtime!
Jeesh!
Seeking to capitalize on the successful restructuring of the U.S. auto industry, the Obama for America National Campaign announced Monday a tour of Ohio communities that it says benefited.

The president’s reelection campaign and the super PAC supporting him are poised to start new TV and radio ads today, keeping a pro-Obama presence on the air in at least three major 2012 swing states.
The Obama campaign has placed a series of small media buys in Florida, Colorado and Nevada, according to a source tracking the air war. That includes $3,720 on cable TV in Tampa, $1,485 on cable in Denver and $2,180 on cable in Las Vegas, as well as $1,090 on Orlando radio. The flights run April 24 to April 30.

So, Ann Romney was in CT yesterday, still milking the Rosen comment!
Please everyone can see through that BS. The point of her speech was that she struggled to. I mean, she would do loads of laundry, only for the boys to get dirty, and her have to do laundry again !!!! The horror. Mitt would buy groceries and the boys would eat it up-and they would have to buy groceries again (GASP, *clutch my pearls*)…So that was her struggle, nothing financial, just the fact being a mom to 1 or 5 kids is repetitive business. My only comment is that if you found cleaning up after your kids hard, why did you continue to have them? I haz no pity for u lady.
I would love to ask Ann Romney, how about the Mom who can’t afford to stay at home. She has to go out side the house to work, then come home to work. So am I to feel sorry for some millionaire wife? By the way, I’m happy to hear that Ann never had maids, cooks, nannies, etc. She did it all herself.
Ann Romney plan on milking that stay at home fake Mom controversy to death. Let’s hear her talk about her husbands policies and how he want to make life better for all women. Mrs. Obama talks of how her husband want to make things better for women, she talks of the struggle Barack’s Mom went through, being on foodstamps, or his grandmother working at a bank, only able to go so high up the ladder.
Bingo. Enough about yourself, ann, let’s talk real policies.
Oh, anniebella, we all know moms who start the work Ann is talking about after they come home from a long day’s work and are doing laundry until well after midnight, then have to wake up early, get the kids ready and go off to work again. And there’s no Mitt to “bring home the groceries.” They also do that after work or in 24-hour grocery stores at odd hours. What did Ann Romney think would happen when she had kids–that they wouldn’t get dirty and need to eat? And guess what? Millions of women raised kids when laundry mean hand washing or wringer washers with clothes-line drying and making meals meant starting everything from scratch, including growing the food. So cry me a river, Ann.
My Grandmom went to work in the white folks home, cooking and cleaning for them, looking after their kids, getting paid hardly nothing, then she had to come home and take care of her family. No daycare back there in them days. You want to talk about hard work, let Ann Romney speak to some of these ladies. As I said let’s hear Ann Romney talk of her husband policies for women. Enough with her fake controversy.
– Military Times, “Vets health care exempt from sequestration cuts,” by Rick Maze: “Funding for veterans’ health care programs is not subject to sequestration, the White House budget office announced Monday, ending months of speculation about how across-the-board budget cuts could be applied early next year if Congress cannot find a way to avoid fiscal disaster.” http://bit.ly/Jsi93b
– AOL Defense, “First woman tapped to lead spy satellite agency”: “For the first time in its storied history, the secretive builder and operator of America’s spy satellites, the National Reconnaissance Office, will be run by a woman. In the best Washington tradition, the news went out just before 5 p.m on a Friday when the NRO’s director in waiting, Betty Sapp, sent an email to her colleagues. Sapp, currently principal deputy director at the spysat agency, will move up one slot and replace NRO Director Bruce Carlson.” http://bit.ly/I6JO8r
Okay, Glen Fucking Greenwald is at it again.
Saying that somebody is doing cyber attacks on Poor Irans Oil terminals, and he wonders, sarcastically, who it could be…
Question- is Glen Greenwald a double agent?
This Guy truly hates America! He is always on our enemies side! Seriously!
Glen Greenwald is about himself. Looking for a little attention again. For him any attention, even negative attention is good. He pulls stuff out is his tumba with little evidence and runs with it, most times accusing the president. He is a nincompoop.
Is Eugene Robinson a Troll?
Good morning TODers. The sun is trying to make a comeback here today, after the deluge that threatened to flood roads yesterday. The birds are singing and the rain made the leaves pop open. Ahhh spring in NE.
Gotta say after all the ways the RWNJs are being exposed, eg Gulliani above, how did they get to carry the mantle of ‘true partiots’ all this time? True patriots actually care about the country and don’t vote for the worst possible candidate the country has ever seen just because of party affiliation. That is so unpatriotic.
Love that Becham ad. There was another with him modelling underwear during the superbowl. ha ha ha I remember it well….. This one is too cute.
So much good news to go around. Please remember to not fall into the trap of helping the nutjobs push their narrative. It’s important to be more vocal of PBO & dem’s accomplishments, like Rham (sp?) did. Remember that article where a rethug strategist said they throw lies out there and by the time we are done debunking them, they are on to a new one. And they are correct. More posts and twitter comments are spent debunking their bs only to have new bs spring up.
It is my fervent hope that we all take at least one day to try and ignore EVERYTHING BS they spew and drive our own narrative. Just completely ignore them. Totally. Just focus on the positive posts. They so want the atttention.
A great place to start is pushing how PBO admin has saved funding for vet care from budget battle. Remind ppl how much the repugs obstructed passage of 9/11 1st responders bill, etc.
Yardarm, did get to say welcome home so “Welcome Home”. Poor AMK, LL and the rest of our male contingency really felt your absence.
(but in truth, we all did)
Have a great day all. Gotta run. Let’s go change the world. Aho!
Brilliant, LunarSea, it’s important that we not give oxygen to RW lies. You will notice that the president does a beautiful job of ignoring all but the most egregious lies and he handles those with devastating skill. Our job is to follow his lead. If he’s trying to debunk something, we support him with all we have. If he’s flicked the stupid stuff off his shoulders, then we don’t have to indulge our outrage, which just saps our strength and gives the liars more coverage. We just concentrate on the positive, making sure we have a firm narrative of PBO’s achievements in our head. Yesterday I talked to a woman who is a firm supporter of the president. She wants to deliver his message to voters, but she confessed that even she didn’t know all of the president’s accomplishments. So that’s our task:–educate, tell people about the accomplishments, show them how they affect their lives. Focus on the long goal–the president’s re-election and keep our eyes firmly on that prize.
LS, while I agree that we need to push positive news (aka truth), I am of two minds about not pushing back against their lies and poutrages. e.g. look at the false poutrage a la hilary rosen nontroversy and our resultant pushback which made the thugs back-off.
‘did’ s/b ‘did not’
I see this as a double edged sword. On the one hand it takes away rethugs talking point of how the brown people are killing teh awesome amurika. OTOH, it could piss off Latinos.
That shouldn’t piss Latinos, if you are coming over here legally, no problem. But jobs are hard to come by right now, maybe that’s the drop off. But the main problem is what to do with the Latinos over here now who are not legal. The President want them to come out of the shadows, and have a chance to become citizens. He wants to be fair, because we can not pack them up and ship them back.
Hi Chipsticks and gang.
Hope everyone is well. I haven’t been doing so good healthwise these days. At the moment I’m home because I have acute abdominal pains and have to go get an ultrasound this morning. I also had another health situation happen to me recently. My womb dropped and now I’m faced with health decisions. It’s all so scary but it could have been much worse.
On another note. I’ve been watching this joke for a show called Morning Joe. They’re talking about Jeb Bush for VP and I’m thinking that he’s the same person that endorsed the Stand Against law in Florida. And no one on the show is talking about this.
They make me sick…er.
Hi donna. Please get well soon!
Hope you get well soon, donna.
Hi donna. Sending healing thoughts your way. Get well soon.
Hi Donna, so sorry to hear you’ve been unwell, wishing you all the best, I hope you get back to full health very soon. Take care of yourself.
Thanks Guys,
You all are just so sweet. Thanks for all your well wishes.
please get well soon
