You can’t beat him!
Has there ever been such a contrat in Pres candidates? Mr Charisma vs The Stiff. Even McCain came across better as the opponent. Does Mitt even do colleges?
Only if he can buy them and jack up the tuition.
LL, don’t forget also, “Only if he can teach a class call, “The Flipping and Flopping of History”, and “Liars 101″ for students dreaming of running for POTUS one day,HZ
North Carolina Tarheels and President Barack Obama, an unbeatable team. Go Obama/ Biden 2012
First?!! Not bad for being at work.
Go Taiping!
Bringing this comment over from the other thread.
I think what we’re seeing between PBO’s stellar poll numbers, the Socialist winning in France promising growth, and the Dutch government collapsing because of austerity is a turn by the populace of the Western democracies against drastic cuts in their social safety nets and the valuation of deficit reduction over everything. The IMF says that it’s possible to have both deficit reduction and growth policies. If so, would they be so kind as to lay out a blueprint? Because so far no one’s figured out how to do it. The deficit reduction that the US experienced under Clinton was a result of higher tax rates and economic growth, not austerity. Grow the economy and collect more taxes and deficits will go down. That’s all that’s ever worked.
Would you like to be the new head of the EU? Merkel is going to go down in flames eventually. Ireland is in revolt on 3 new taxes with no jobs plan. Kenny doesn’t seem to get it and his government is dropping fast in the polls.
By the way, sorry to see Carmichael Auditorium so empty! Hah!
James Murdoch testified today and got Jeremy Hunt in big trouble along with Hunt’s own e-mails. Hunt is frantic and waits to move up his testimony. Hunt was the head of the committee that would have had to approve the Murdoch’s buying more of BskyB before they backed off. I think Hunt is not so smart. James said Hunt was their cheerleader. That hurts.
Ok, I so don’t believe in any of the Mayan Doomsday crap, but 2012 is turning out to be quite, how shall we say, interesting. There’s a perfect storm coalescing, where people have two very stark choices before them. Europeans are revolting against austerity, and I doubt that any government that continues to push that line will have a mandate for much longer. (I’m looking at you, Spain and Germany.) Americans don’t want austerity to begin with, and that’s being reflected in the dismal polling numbers for the GOP. There is, dare I say, a cosmic choice to be made throughout this year.
It will get even more interesting. You will not see the Irish in the streets yet; we are doing a quiet boycott of the new taxes. The Household tax went in, a very unfair flat tax, the same amount for those in poverty and millionaires. Almost half the population is refusing to pay it. The septic tank tax was to go in and suddenly was reduced from €50 to €5 just to get people with tanks to register them. Fat chance of that happening. Now the new water tax, again unfair, and a disaster in the making. Few are registering anything so the government doesn’t know who to tax for what. Oh, well. Now it appears the Referendum is going to have to be postponed because of the Dutch. Tch. Tch. Yes, cosmic choices are coming.
And, this needs to be repeated: it all began with a skinny black guy with a funny name thinking he could run for and win the Presidency. Hollande’s campaign is based on Obama 2008.
Hollande, yes., and he is very rapidly moving to the center. Neither other candidate can do that without losing votes. Hollande will gain them.
The center has a well-known liberal bias.
No ,gcwp1, the only time that even came close to this was when JFK ran against Nixon. But much as I loved JFK and as exciting as he was, he came across as very patrician. Not in his heart, because he really cared about people, but in a little standoffishness of manner. PBO is so utterly natural with people, he seems to be related to you, no matter who you are. That kind of charisma is a rare gift from God that comes along once in a century, if that. NIxon, of course, could never unbend and he looked so uncomfortable in his skin, you really thought it was an effort for him to reach out to people. But he was Mr. Sociability himself compared to Mitt Romney. And unlike Mitt, Nixon was very, very smart.
LL, I hope your trend spotting is correct. If the western world and the US are finally moving back to sanity, then that’s worth bringing out the champagne.
Oh Haley — as Josh said to Charlie on “West Wing” — it doesn’t go away! I got to shake his hand the night before Election Day 2008 and I will never get over it. The only thing better? Getting to shake the president’s hand in Chapel Hill, the southern part of heaven!
Have to say, I just started watching this show and I am hooked. I can’t wait everyday to run home from work and start watching episode after episode, after episode, after…damn time for work again.
One of the best shows ever. I own the entire series, and if I get started watching it, I can’t stop. Enjoy.
West Wing is my favourite show of all times (doesn’t hurt that Santos’ character was fashioned after the writers met then-Senator Obama). And the real West Wing with President Obama is my current addiction.
OMZ, Haley Scott..you Lucky Dawg!
wow Haley, I am so excited for you! Congratulations
GO MR. PRESIDENT!!!
A friend of mine from HS (who moved there from CA) and his family were there!!! Can’t wait to hear about it.
Freaking sweet!

Great gettin’ up day in TODsville all you O’s!!! Well, I just heard PBO and my oh my what a guy!!! Now, I’m doing the happy dance, ain’t gonna let nobody turn me around…..
Just posted this at the bottom – sorry for the duplicate! I love this tweet!
You know why today feels different for me? I voted for Barack Obama. Seriously, clicking the button next to his name, made me feel really joyous! Because you had to be 21 to vote in the old days, the first president I could vote for was Lyndon Johnson’s first full term and I have voted ever since. But I never, ever felt as good as I did when I pressed the Obama button. Wow!
Congratulations, Jackie! I can imagine how you feel.
I got that same “tingle” today, jackie, here in Sharon Hill, PA.
I felt so empowered.
You got that right, Jimmy..ya cutie!
Heck yeah it does!
Republicans launch new effort to attract Black Voters!
What did they do, hire Tavis and Cornell?
LOL. When you’re bad, you’re really bad, jovie.
Oh really, these guys have nothing to sell that AA voters want to buy, unless they’re members of the elite 1 percent. My favorite bumpersticker: I’m not rich enough to be Republican!
Cain and Allen West? Sending Ron Christie to college campuses? That’ll work.
I see they’re using Rubio to connect with the young uns as he lists his fave hip hop artists. Cantor tried to be helpful to the youth cause too as he also jumped into the listing of his fave rappers. So sincere!!!??? Even tho Toure’ said he believes Rubio—–I don’t. Staged.
This is too pathetic for words. Let a whole party roll in the mud of racism, condone the most disgusting language and bigoted behavior in years, cut every advantage for minority groups in education, health, jobs and voting rights, defend the gunning down of an innocent teenager and smear and insult the first African American president. Then all you have to do is say you like hip hop and rap music and you’ve got it made. How insulting! How condescending! What utter disrespect!
This must be their new “fried chicken and watermelon” offer. Pathetic !!
Good luck with that.
That is funny! I know that’s money wasted. Look at the crowd. Diverse people, everybody happy. My heart is singing!
t sprayed ginger ale all over my screen after reading this. LMAO!

Saints accused of wiretapping other Teams:
Louisiana State Police, FBI investigating.
NOT GOOD!
Really nothing they can do. This occured, if it did occur, back in 2002-2004. Statute of limitations would have run out. Besides, they were pretty rotten back then, so if they were doing so, it certainly didn’t help them.
They will get sanctioned from NFL!
I was watching ESPN’s NFL show discussing this new revelation. NO actually had a worse record at home than away during that time, so it REALLY didn’t help.
Yes it is! The Saints deserve some serious sanctions against them.

A great speech by a great President at the greatest university in the country! Go Obama and Go Heels!!
Agree with your first two greats, vehemently disagree with the last.
Man, you just had to rub it in! :-!
Isn’t that just an awesome, joyful, hopeful photo? There will never be anything similar with Willard. Who in the world would ever want to reach out and touch that cold piece of hollow wood?
That was exactly my response to these photos, dotster3. The full on excitement and palpable joy amongst these young people is so inspiring! Gives me hope that they’ll come out in droves to vote for PBO as well!!
Please believe me when I say this is not to put a damper on all the positiveness after this speech. There is little doubt in my mind that PBO still has the youth vote, possibly higher now than in 2008. However, what is crucial is the overall size of the youth vote. IIRC, and please correct me if I am wrong, in 2008, despite all the talk about how enthusiastic the under 29 age group was for PBO, actual turnout in that demographic was only slightly higher than normal. It is a demographic which tends to have lower turnout that other demographics do.
What is important this year is that the turnout be much higher. This is going to be specially hard with some of the newer voter ID laws out there. College students, specially, if they are not going to be allowed to vote in the place where they go to school, need to be convinced to register in their home towns and vote absentee ballot.
If they can boost the turnout of that age group by even 5%, we will see a landslide.
I read you on this japa21 but some states won’t let students vote absentee unless they were home to cast a ballot in their last local election. I think that’s the way it is in MI. Someone out there verify please.
On UNC’s student paper online (www.dailytarheel.com) there was an article about running out of ballots for the NC primary elections which has drawn a high number of students to vote against Amendment 1 – I think that some may be waking up to the bad things that happened due to low turn out in the 2010 midterm elections…
http://www.dailytarheel.com/index.php/article/2012/04/early_voters_stalled_when_rams_head_site_runs_out_of_democratic_ballots
Japa, i agree. The voter ID laws do allow college photo IDs, but they must carry an expiration date. The OFA is encouraging students to get their universities to redo their cards or at least add a sticker. I personally went up the hierarchy of our local college and now even the college president knows what needs to be done. This will be a big issue this summer and I’m hoping there will be an amendment in the law because of the outcry. In the meantime, this is a very good tool for INCREASING turnout. People are never as indifferent to a right as when someone threatens to take it away from them. So I’m hoping to stoke a lot of outrage among students. The real problem is with 18-year old non drivers. They actually have to bring their parents to the DMV to verify their identify and address–a real problem with non English speaking parents who have trouble understanding what’s being asked of them.
If you’re in a state with voter ID laws, know them backwards and forwards. Then start bugging the colleges and universities to get IDs that allow students to vote.
Such a great speech to a great crowd; love the president.
Loved the hand-grid pic. Now kidz, move your asses on voting day and get counted, really counted.
The picture of hands reaching out to touch PBO has brought me to tears. Please do everything you can to re-elect him. We all need him.
Oh boy! Was he ever good! Quoted Virginia Foxx in her own state. Then asked something like, “Can you believe somebody would say that? “(My paraphrase)
”
I wanted him to do that, but I didn’t think he would! The man is amazing.
No youth vote, huh? It looks to me like the youth he may have lost are being replaced or added to by brand new ones!
Obama/Biden 2012
eveingeorgia, I bet you will hear from that old Foxx concerning what the President said.
I just love the way that the Obama machine keeps making the Republicans defend every piece of bad legislation out there. It’s like every three weeks or so the Republicans have to put out a fire.
Yup, make them own their votes. If only the other dems had his steely backbone…
Take that Ron Paul.
It is events like today with huge crowds showing their love for POTUS that scares the gop more than anything!!!
For those of you involved with the boycott of Rush Limbaugh’s advertisers, you might find the following article interesting…
Netflix Posts First Loss Since 2005, Shares Plunge
http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/entertainmentnewsbuzz/2012/04/netflix-posts-first-loss-since-2005-shares-plunge.html
Granted, the article is offering an analysis that the costs of overseas expansion is offsetting U.S. profits, but it seems telling that Netflix didn’t even post a loss during the 2008 economic meltdown, but it is now.
Whether or not the boycott was the only factor, I would assume that it was a significant one.
Consider, of all the companies frequented by the highly plugged-in participants on Twitter, an online content service is one of the fastest things you can cancel — and one of the easiest things you can offer an alternative to. While the expiration of their Starz deal might impact streaming movies, having this controversy at a time when DVD sales were falling was a very bad idea — because DVD sales are a discretionary and deliberate purchasing decision, someone buying a DVD or streaming film can choose to go elsewhere when browsing content, as opposed to having a subscription unconsciously delivered to their screen.
Having a bunch of tweets with links to their competitors flashing before the eyes of outraged customers who wanted to make an immediate statement was… unfortunate.
Whatever your position on the boycott, I think this is a fascinating business and public-relations story as well, and shows just how sensitive online businesses in particular can be to a major social-media movement.
Netflix is blaming this loss on piracy. This is why they created a PAC called FlixPac to get people elected to Congress who will pass anti-piracy laws that they want.
Please put Martin Bashir on in prime time or all time or 10 times a day. His program is a real gem. Did he just compare BMOC Obama to Romney emceeing an a capella choral concert? And Willard as Mr. Burns—-by accident–hahaha. Too good to be hidden away from view mid afternoon.
Dotster3, yes Martin did. I love Martin Bashir!! I let out laugh when I heard Martin say, “emceeing an a capella choral concert.” That is priceless.HZ
Robney is toast.
I knew there was a reason I like Josh.
Good looking and intelligent that’s a dangerous combination.
That sounds like PBO – “Good looking and intelligent..”
You GO, Josh Hartnett…and may your message extend beyond the borders of Minnesota!
If UNC is any barometer, I’d say it’s a done deal.
OMY! That made me a little Verklempt!! Beautiful Message from Josh Hartnett~ Light years more Brilliant than the mattdamons & johncusacks of the world.
A Big ALOHA & MAHALOS TO YOU, CHIPS FOR POSTING THIS VID AND ALL YOU DO.
I’ve always liked Josh Hartnett. Pretty talented. So glad he’s IN.
Thank you Josh we love you!!!!!
I am so happy that I lived long enough to see PBO. I remember Truman and I can’t think of anyone that has/had our Presidents intellect. The MAN is awesome!
I feel the same Yardarm, I’m blessed to be alive at this time, I’ll die happy.
Oh no! Die on your own time. You’re not through here yet.
LOL! That’s right Yard, we need Chips!
I feel the same way you do Chips and Yard. I don’t go back to Truman, but every time I think of how blessed I am to be living in the world, in this country at this time, tears come to my eyes. I just love our President and everything he is doing to help this country.
LOL. You’re right. All such dying plans have to be shelved to after November.
Oh thanks so much for that one Yardarm756. We will Not allow Chips to check out on us during ‘This Time’, Not now, Ms. Chips. We need to stay around for the books, the library, and the world travelling of the most exciting speaking tours we have ever seen in Presidential History. That is my prayer. Please angels, let me be able to see it , hear it, and Understand what I am seeing and hearing. Please, Please.
So regroup, Ms. Chips. We need you and we want to all meet up afterward all of this and sip tea, coffee, and a little delicious wine and share our stories, read all of the great books and live the life to the top of the mountain!!! HZ
LMAO! I agree! Both of you stop all this morbid talk of dying!
She started it.
Story from CT. Eight years ago, an elderly man was kept alive through dialysis. He wanted to see Bush lose. When he did not, the man asked to discontinue dialysis.
Oh dear.
I feel the exact same way, Yardarm. There is something about this man that makes me so grateful to have lived to experience his presidency. He catches hell, but he just hangs in there and keeps fighting. His dignity and resoluteness inspire me to no end.
I keep him prayed up. There’s no way he can inspire the way he does without being empowered by something larger than the cheers of a crowd.
May God protect him and keep directing him.
By the way, so glad you are back. I worry when I don’t see your posts.
You are more than kind. I didn’t go far, just went to the woods and the wi-fi was such that all I could do was lurk a bit.
Yardarm, not since Thomas Jefferson and even we weren’t around then.
The pics are hot. Good lookin’ folks in North Cakalak!
Oh, just look at their faces! Happy, happy, happy! Poor President Obama! He loves them back!
We’re getting excited for the PBO visit here in Iowa City tomorrow! If you can get into this link (don’t know if it’s just for us UI folks) – there’s some great photos of the line to get tickets for Wednesday’s visit. I especially like the last one, a wide-angle shot.
http://now.uiowa.edu/2012/04/lining-obama-tickets
I love that one of the pictures has a Fox News van right out front – they must be in a state of shock.
That wide angle shot is great!! Hope you got your tickets.
Cool—-that’s my alma mater—–sweet fun memories! Will be watching tomorrow!
Not looking good across the pond. How the mighty are falling!
http://andrewsullivan.thedailybeast.com/2012/04/corruption-cameron-and-the-murdochs.html
It can’t come a day too soon. P.M. Cameron, although probably a nice person, has been a disaster for this country with his austerity and his party’s awful budget targeting the middle class and the poor.
Just listening to that young woman introduce “her” president brought tears to my eyes. The pride in her voice was unmistakeable. No one, ABSOLUTELY NO ONE, can get that kind of response from individuals like PBO. I actually dreamt of him and Michelle last night. In my dream I actually met the two of them and he held my hand and listened to what I had to say. I can only hope that my dream can come true. The man is so GREAT!! There are too many words that I would like to use to describe him but I will be typing for the rest of the day. All positive though. Please make sure that he is re-elected in November. Obama/Biden 2012! I got my sticker in the mail. WHOO HOO!!!
PBO WILL NEVER LOSE THE YOUTH OR ANYONE ELSE FOR THAT MATTER! WE HAVE THE GREATEST PRESIDENT AMERICA WILL EVER SEE IN ITS HISTORY RIGHT IN THE WHITE HOUSE! ACTUALLY..A FANTASTIC FIRST FAMILY AND DON’T FORGET ‘BO!’
Nice. (not sure if this will show up)
Labour has called for Culture Secretary Jeremy Hunt to resign after Leveson Inquiry evidence appeared to show his support for News Corp’s bid for BSkyB.
During evidence from James Murdoch, the inquiry discussed News Corp emails that appeared to show Mr Hunt had privately expressed support.
Labour leader Ed Miliband said Mr Hunt had acted as a “back channel” for the Murdochs and should step down.
Mr Hunt said he had “conducted this process with scrupulous fairness”.
He said he had asked Lord Justice Leveson to bring forward his appearance at the inquiry.
“Now is not a time for kneejerk reactions. We’ve heard one side of the story today but some of the evidence reported meetings and conversations that simply didn’t happen.”
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-17829360
So hunt is calling murdock a liar ? Shocking !!!
This has no political merit whatsoever – just my idea of a nightmare turned happy:
There once was a creature named Romney
Who scared me, as he came upon me
I said begone, Satan!
I’m not likin’ your hatin’
And pouf! no more ugly-ass Romney.
Great!
Ugh, Chelsea down 2-0. Now Xavi can stop his whining.
A bigger ugh: they just pulled a goal back.
As my comment downthread indicates. *sweet innocent smile*
Has Talking Points Memo gone Willard Myth?!!! They seem to be promoting this untruth-teller alot lately. BuzzFeed has a story up talking about Myth’s primary speech tonight will be another pivot to the General Election. I’m glad I will be at church tonight so I won’t have to listen to the lies that are going to come out of Myth’s month. Thank the Lord I will be back in time to see President Obama on Jimmy Fallon’s show tonight.
Yup. josh is all feeling tingly in his leg over mehmney’s ‘success’.
Did you see on TPM where the gop is saying they will get the youth vote back because of Willard’s “youthfulness?”
Huh? Do they realize he’s 15 years older than PBO and acts like he’s still living in the 70′s? There is no way any rational human being could look at Willard and consider him a person of the 21rst century. This is fantasy speaking.
Well, since the last nominee was 72, I guess that would make Willard seem young.
Is his youthfulness anything like his truthfulness? Eh.
lollololol
Good one.
Where the fark is UT????? RAMIRES!!! AWAY GOAL!!! CHELSEA!!!!!
Just got back in . Saw it was 2-1. What’s happening now?
Chelsea is through! Torres scored! 3-2 on aggregate.
Cool! This is going to be so fun—–Fallon tonight!
President Obama during a taping of the “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” show at the Univ of NC – tune in tonight!
Can’t wait to see PBO slow-jam the news. Love when he and BriWi do it with The Roots——should be even better with our pres.
Dammit, now I’ll have to tape Jimmy Fallon. He’s on NBC, right?
At 12:35 in the morning!! I will have to set my DVR too. Can’t stay up that late. Have to be up early tomorrow.
You are quick Chips!!!! Love the photos, POTUS looks like he’s having a great time.
WOW – I didn’t get to see our President’s UNC speech but I’m now on a serious high just from reading all these beautiful, hopeful, inspired comments from my TOD community! Plus the video clips showing the introductory and concluding portions of the speech are just icing on that glorious cake
What a guy that PBO! America’s youth just LOVE their President. Even Dubbya’s girls where crazy for PBO – I’ve been told! I’m sure they still do. I’m so inspired by our young people, and I bet that PBO is too.
slacker.
HF, you are going to be mesmerized. I was drinking him in for what seemed like an hour. I could not take my eyes off of him. The speech was long and heavy on storytelling. The crowd showered him with love. It was electric. The speech was so down to earth and passionate. I don’t know how any American could not be moved by what he said today. PBO is showing what it means to be a leader and what it means to govern. And that is precisely what is freaking out the Republican Party. The American people were never supposed to be shown that smart and efficient government has a positive role to play in their lives. Alas, government is not the boogeyman the GO P claimed it to be. President Obama has spilled the beans. Oh dear …….
Hahahahahaha
But not his dog
His “rich” friends—-was the unspoken word there.
Oh, yes, there are volumes left unsaid in that comment, so subtle, in no way an insult, but a little fist in the gut. Subtext: friends are like him; he rewards rich friends; cares more about them than American people.
The subtlety in that answer is the reason why Romney is going to cry after the first debate, and threaten to cancel all others.
Yes, Mr. President, Mitt Romney cares about his friends, but he don’t give a dam about the poor and middle class.
Press conference from Google founders, James Cameron, other notables, on their newly announced asteroid-mining company which they say will bring trillions of dollars in wealth to the Earth over the next few decades…
http://gizmodo.com/5904727/how-the-space-miners-will-bring-trillions-of-dollars-to-earth
“They claim they will “add trillions of dollars to the global GDP” and “help ensure humanity’s prosperity” by mining asteroids for rare metals like gold and platinum.
“Their objective is to “harness resources from passing-by asteroids”. And they claim they are going to launch their first space prospecting ships within 24 months!”
I just can’t get enough of that story. The future is just rushing at us. This could be a major step in moving from an economy of scarcity to one of abundance.
Can someone tell me who Chelsea is? I’m always lost with that convo.
Bill and Hillary’s daughter!
Rolling on the floor!!!!!!!!!!
LOL
LOL. Chelsea Football Club, one of the major clubs of world football. UT and I are fervent fans. amk likes to pretend he’s not a supporter. Chips, love her as I do, has one major flaw in that she supports Manchester United, which is pretty much on a level of the Yankees and Red Sox rolled into one festering pile. Chelsea is currently engaged in a titanic struggle with Barcelona, the most sanctimonious club in world football, for the right to progress to the Champions League final in 3 weeks’ time. I have no doubt that Chips is making dark sacrifices as we speak to prevent Chelsea from advancing.
LOL thank you for explaining! I watch basketball so I know absolutely nothing about futbol. I need to widen the scope.
You’re welcome! My explanations are always great I’m told
Barcs are gonna kick blues’ lame asses and take the cup.Just watch.
psst, chips – need any help with those dark sacrifices ? chicken, goat, cow, a nubile virgin ? Anything ?Just call me.
Hahahahahahaha. Barcelona lost and Chelsea won. SUCK IT! Go BLUE!!!!!!!!!! #Chelsea
My my my my! We could hardly tell from the pics, Jimmy
Even Andrea Mitchell has a thrill up her leg.
*fans self*
can’t wait till’ tonight.
Don’t get yourself too overheated CK
Not to worry Debz, we’ll be on hand this evening with emergency ice coolers, popsicles, fans, cold packs to cool everyone right on down.
We will be needing Really Big Fans, and use the cold pack naughty mats.
LOTS of naughty mats!!
Oh gawd!! It would so over-the-top AWESOME to see that!!
Karma strikes again.
USDA says Mad cow disease in California, food supply not at risk.
This is good Government protecting it’s Citizens!
Oh Please, please, please, Chipstick, please record All of President Obama on Jimmy Fallon tonight and post it.
Please I am on my Knees. I’m begging you please and I ain’t too proud to beg.

Justice Dept. files BP oil spill charges
By BYRON TAU | 4/24/12 1:07 PM EDT
The Justice Department announced Tuesday the first arrest in the British Petroleum oil spill investigation, against a former employee accused of obstruction of justice.
Kurt Mix, a former engineer for BP, was arrested on charges of intentionally destroying evidence, according to the Justice Department. Mix is accused of deleting more than 300 text messages with a BP supervisor — some of which were later recovered by data specialists.
“The department has filed initial charges in its investigation into the Deepwater Horizon disaster against an individual for allegedly deleting records relating to the amount of oil flowing from the Macondo well after the explosion that led to the devastating tragedy in the Gulf of Mexico,” said Attorney General Holder in a statement. “The Deepwater Horizon Task Force is continuing its investigation into the explosion and will hold accountable those who violated the law in connection with the largest environmental disaster in U.S. history.”
Mix faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a potential fine of up to $250,000 as to each count.
Wait, I’m sorry, I must be having an episode. Did Byron “It’s not my fault I look like a Ferengi” Tau just do some actual reporting?
Oh Goodness! I love the slow-jam the news. Is PBO really gonna do one with Jimmie Fallon? My family will have to resuscitate me if he does!!!!
From Fallon’s tweets, I think he’s on oxygen right now. He seems to be as much a fan as the rest of us – probably signing up for a naughty mat, too.
Yup! He is almost half and half now!
Fallon is a cool guy, he really show the First Lady a lot of respect when he talked of going to the White House.
I’ve always liked Fallon – even before he revealed he was a true Obama fan!
Never saw this (slow-jam the news). I’ll have to set DVR to see it.
President Obama and the department of Justice. files criminal charges against BP for the oil spill. http://www.cnn.com/2012/04/24/us/gulf-oil-spill/index.html?eref=mrss_igoogle_cnn
Willard to slow jam the FOX 6PM news in 4..3..2…1..
I wouldn’t even be surprised.
Ok, I don’t want to think about Willard slow-jamming anything.
Just imagining that made my ears hurt.
Mitt is too stiff to da any slow jam. Please, that man has never slow jammed in his life. Fast jam yes, five times. Womder if he removed the magic baggy.
What does slow-jamming mean?
Oh Eve they are great. Brian William (of NBC News) does them with Jimmie Fallon and they are great. Somebody please post one from Youtube for Eve. I’m at work and they temporarily disabled our video access today otherwise I would post one for you.
The only one I found at Youtube was where they slam the tax compromise. Not posting that one here.
http://www.slowjamthenews.com/
It can mean anything. Dance, maybe. But askk somebody with a clean mind.
Sorry saw down thread what slow jamming meant and I really thought it was slow dancing and slow the other thing. Sorry.
Oh holy mother of God, 3 minutes of added time!
chelsea ties it up
Actually, Chelsea is ahead 3-2 on aggregate, with two away goals. Aw yeah.
TORRES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Chelsea on to the final
Damn you LL, you got mer following the darn game. I almost got as excited as you probably did when Torres scored. Sorry Chips.
Chips. amk. I adore you both. So know, this will hurt me more than it hurts you.
(I lied. Didn’t hurt me one bit. But I do love you both.)
Congrats. It was a well deserved win. Hope you guys make it.
Thanks amk!
As far as i’m concerned, Di Matteo has earned the manager’s job. He’s turned around their season.
He sure did.
Congrats Blues. Torres said before the match that they could do it and he did it.
Of course, it was a painful victory. No Terry, Ivanovic, or Meireles for the final. David Luiz better get well soon.
North Carolina really welcome our POTUS. I was proud of them.
Okay, aside from my loved ones, I have three passions in life: writing, politics, and football (soccer). This year is going to be great for all three. Go Chels! G’Obama!
Isn’t it great when life is just “right”? Lucky you – nice that you count your blessings.
Chip, my love, this is an extraordinary collection of photos and videos. Such a spirit-lifting visuals. Thank you so much, for the 782754987438 time.
Seriously?!?! Oh, that wacky Willard!
Mark Knoller wants the American people to know:
How profound of Knoller….oink !
I know, right?
This about says it all:
This tweet from Charles Blow made me think of the movie “Network” and the famous line below from Howard Beale. It has an “Are you kidding me” ring to it:
So I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window. Open it, and stick your head out, and yell, ‘I’M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I’M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!’
Okay, because of you and the movie, now my neighbors think I’m crazy. jk
That’s hilarious jacqueline.
The networks are gearing up for this Saturday in anticipation…
Series of live tweets from someone who went to the show – looks like it was a great time!

Yep, we love them!
Debby Prescott of Ames, a 55-year-old nurse, was living in Ghana for two years (she worked in an orphanage), shortly after President Obama’s visit there. She bought commemorative material made in Ghana and had three shifts made before she left Africa. She wore the one she kept for herself today. ”I’m here with my volunteer staff from Ames,” Prescott said. “Right now we’re in the phone-call/door-to-door (phase).”
Prescott said Obama has succeeded “in spite of” his GOP critics. “I feel like he’s Prometheus, pushing that rock,” Prescott said. “…And yet he has made accomplishments that are taking our country in the right direction.”

On Hardball Chris Cilizza just said “Obama is cool. Romney is not cool.” Is that the understatement of the century? Ms. Henderson noted that young people would call it “swagger”. Obama’s got it. Willard does not.
Glad that dem surrogates are picking up PBO’s framing of the issues.

WASHINGTON — In a modest victory for labor groups, a rare measure that would have blocked new federal rules considered favorable to unions failed Tuesday in the Senate, with Republican lawmakers and business groups unable to bring Democrats on board.
The defeated measure was an unusual legislative strategy, known as a “resolution of disapproval.” Pushed by Sen. Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.), it would have scuttled rules proposed last year by the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) that streamline the union election process, likely making it easier for workers to join unions and harder for businesses to convince them not to. Strongly opposed by business groups and many conservative lawmakers, the new rules are set to go into effect later this month.
Enzi’s measure failed along party lines, 45 to 54.
I love it when POTUS was talking to the college kids about how he understand what they are facing. He and Michelle faced the college debt when they got out of college, and how they just finish paying off their debt about eight years ago.
New post everyone:

Gooooood Evening Everybody! Just popped in to say “hi”. I’m so THRILLED at reception that PBO received at my old stomping grounds. Gosh I wish I was there. Oh my goodness, oh my goodness, oh my GOODNESS!! The crowd was packed to the rafters! Of course, my Tarheels would show him deep, deep love!
Gotta head home from work. I’m gonna take a power nap so I can be online tonight while Jimmy Fallon’s show is airing. Hope to see some of you night owls still up with me. Wow, so much catching up to do.
Chips the pictures are perfection! You are on the ball as always. See ya later!
Nice. Bob Cesca’s take on PBO’s talk to UNC students today. I love my President. More and more, everyday.

That was so poignant, df..thank you. “President Obama isn’t someone who you wished you could have a beer with..he’s someone you did have a beer with”. BRILLIANT!
Did POTUS touchdown in Boulder yet?
Waiting for PBO, listening to Newt the Newt lying about PBO’s speech today on cpan live. Blamed the debt on him, calling him a flim-flam artist and such. All the while, his comments created an echo because the room is so empty. Ugh, back to PBO. Bozo on now. Click !!
