I’m listening to a tech that’s on site and a roar went up in Carmichael when it flashed across the big screens – can hear the crowd over a walkie talkie!
He’s on the way – I40 is closed! So wish I were able to go see him!
The guy’s ability to bring out genuine smiles around him is amazing.
I know he’s usually in a good mood, but I don’t think I’ve seen him chirpier than he is today – maybe he’s seen some private polling
I think you’re both right. WOOT!!
hot dag, I would love to see FLOTUS this morning. See what kind of mood she is in.
I was trying to behave Japa, you’ve lowered the tone!
Exactly amk. At least the ladies around here don’t have one-track minds. Oh, well, wait……
pot, kettle, names.
Speak for yourself!!
Japa, you and your FLOTUS :-).
I sure hope so.
And off he goes!! I love seeing my President at the top of the day!!
He’s particularly chirpy and smiley this morning. Must be looking forward to hanging with the college crowd. I hear Stephen Colbert might also be at UNC.
rumor has it that Colbert is on campus (?!)
One for Pooches for PBO:
There once was a dog named Seamus
Whose cuteness came along to claim us
Then Mitt strapped him on the roof
To never again cry Woof
But Obama voters made him famous
Outstanding!!!!!!!!!!!! Jacqueline, I appoint you TOD’s poet laureate!
You are sweet, Chips!
Keep them coming.
There once was a dog named Seamus.

BTW, your cute lyrics are being retweeted like no tomorrow.
Jodi Cantor on Alex Gagner Show! Again?
Why? What is the reason to have that thing Cantor on her show?
And she actually said that she’d been hanging out at Mittens headquarters. Now, do you think anyone with an ounce of objectivity could get that close?
She’s probably feeding them lies to use against POTUS and FLOTUS. They are a nasty bunch in the Mittens camp.

Have I not told you all that she is LITERALLY MISS ANN:
Ann Romney: ‘I Love The Fact That There Are Women Out There Who Don’t Have A Choice’ And ‘Must Go To Work’
By Alex Seitz-Wald on Apr 24, 2012 at 9:49 am
In an emotional speech about the difficulty of motherhood and life on the campaign trail, Ann Romney used an odd choice of words to discuss mothers who are forced to work while raising their children.
Ann Romney was at the center of a national discussion recently after a Democratic consultant charged that the would-be future first lady couldn’t possibly understand the plight of working mothers because she had the luxury to stay home and devote herself full time to raising her kids. The Romney campaign fired back, accusing Democrats of lacking respect for stay at home moms.
The issue was largely dismissed after a few days as a ginned-up “silly season” controversy, but Ann Romney’s comments last night at the Connecticut Republican Party’s Prescott Bush Awards Dinner could potentially reignite the issue. After discussing how she understands the challenges mothers face, Romney said, according to BuzzFeed:
Romney alluded to the fact that not all women can stay at home saying, “I love the fact that there are women out there who don’t have a choice and they must go to work and they still have to raise the kids. Thank goodness that we value those people too. And sometimes life isn’t easy for any of us.”
It seems Romney was trying to express empathy for women who don’t have the option to stay at home, as she did. But the comment that she “love[s]” that some women “don’t have a choice” and must work is unusual, to say the least, and could lead to a new round of charges that the Romneys don’t understand average Americans, given their enormous wealth.
‘could lead to a new round of charges that the Romneys don’t understand average Americans, given their enormous wealth.’
I would say they both do not understand that ENGLISH is a nuanced language! Wonder what is their first language? (tongue in cheek)
She’s love me then. I had to go back to work when my daughter was six weeks old. I had to leave my son when he was five weeks old. Miss Ann cannot relate to millions of women that have to work because they have no choice. Speak on Miss Ann. Keep putting your foot in your mouth.
More like “wanna-be first lady”….

As Romney tries to get right on stud loans after suppt'ing Ryan bdgt, a timely new IOP poll: Obama leads by 17 w/youth hvrd.me/I86wPP— Stephanie Cutter (@stefcutter) April 24, 2012
From above poll-
New York, N.Y. – A new national poll of America’s 18- to 29- year-olds by Harvard’s Institute of Politics (IOP), located at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, finds President Barack Obama has widened the gap between likely general election opponent Mitt Romney and himself. Obama now leads Romney by a seventeen point margin, a gain of six percentage points over the eleven-point lead the President held in late November IOP polling.
In God’s Holy Word found in Matthew 23:12 the scripture tells us, For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will exalted. It is clear that President Obama recoils at people honoring him. Just in that one little clip I saw it. This gentleman is so humble, I never seen anything like it in politics. I remember the Charlie Rose special during Presidents Day when he had a roundtable of brilliant, beautiful Presidential historians. They talked about all our Presidents, one historian in particular said that when they met President Obama they were saying what a wonderful individual he was and President Obama was kind of taken aback with all the good things the historians were saying about him. One more reason to love 44 and make sure he get 4 more.
Yes – he never wants to be lifted up too high. I was glad that he was honored with the Nobel Peace Prize for a lifetime of work at nuclear non-proliferation, community work and his general attitude of reaching a peaceful conclusion to contentious situations. When he received that extended applause, he finally seemed to savour the moment, but then after a few seconds, he started chit-chatting with the person next to him to try and get it to stop. But, when he was on the balcony with Michelle, it was like he really took that moment for himself and allowed himself to enjoy it. It was a personal accomplishment – not an honor to a president, but to the man.

Seeing how Robney slogan is, Obama is not Working.
I think the Obama Camps slogan should be, Robney is an asshole.
Jovie, POTUS can’t say that.
Hahahahahahahahahaha. PBO can’t say it but hell yeah, I’m all on board. I’m so tweeting this.
Here you go Jovie.
Romney's campaign slogan is "Obama Isn't Working" That's disingenuous because it really should be "Romney Is An Asshole"— (@utaustinliberal) April 24, 2012
Maybe we should brainstorm a more subtle synonym of the ‘a’ word for future framing? Romney is a ………………………….
a stiff? His wife said he wasn’t but I think he is.
That could work, both in its ‘positive’ and negative connotation.
You’re on a roll today. Aren’t you? Did somebody steal your Wheaties or what?
Or maybe using the same frame. “Romney is not thinking (about anyone but himself)”
Zombey is a Lying Asshole.
Just seeing these pics of President Obama with the teachers says more about Romney than anything! Did you notice that EVERYONE is smiling and having a good time? Our President has such a way with people – I can’t imagine anyone else in the job!
“I couldn’t be prouder that you are my president” – teacher of the year /Take that Matt Damoneister!
Teacher of the Year is from BURBANK!!! MY HOOD!!
It is amazing to see how different it is outside the wretched bubble of the main stream media. Thanks to Chips, we have a place to witness how folks outside of that bubble really feel about our president. Yesterday morning, we saw a Holocaust survivor warmly embrace our president, going so far as to promise him his vote Later in the afternoon, we saw the Air Force Academy football team tell our president “you’re the man” along with that fun request for him to strike the Heisman pose. Now, today, the 2012 National Teacher of the Year told him “I couldn’t be prouder that you’re my President”. Wow! It’s just wonderful to have this place. How great it would be if the main stream media actually covered these stories
Thank you Chips!
X 2 Ctgirl
I like the way you’ve brought those instances together for a total picture that very aptly portrays our well-rounded President. Thank you for this haven too, Ms Chips. I’m so happily cocooned, and occupied, here that I often forget to visit my friendly neighbours.
I would like to add my thanks also Chips. I thoroughly enjoyed being able to see this gathering and hear the speeches. Without you it would not be possible. Thanks,
oooo here’s some lovely Steve Benen goodness:
I so agree ctgirl7. this is the stuff we should be tweeting, forwarding and talking about all day. unfortunately hard to do at work and on my tiny android keyboard it takes forever
I listen to the View this morning and as always that Elisabeth said something that piss me off, and I sent her a email too. They were talking about ann Romey and Barbara were praising her like crazy. As they were talking about women vote, Joy said this is about the policies, Eslisabeth said women want someone who can get them a job, etc., etc., I told her that yes women are concern about jobs, but they are also very concern about the anti-women policies Mitt Romney is supporting. I told her that a decision to have a abortion or not is that woman and her family, not some bunch of white Republican men. Same with birth control. Finally I told Miss Eslisabeth, there is a war on women and we will not forget who’s side Mitt Romney is on. And it’s not the women’s side.
WHAT LOVELY, PICTURES FILLED WITH SUCH EMOTION…as usual!
IMO, if we could package the videos of all the LAUGHING, SMILING, ENTHUSIASTIC, INTERESTED, HAPPY, RELAXED, MOURNING/HURTING, HUGGY PEOPLE interacting WITH the President, and distribute them widely to the voting public, we would have no need of traditional campaign ads.
US has the. BEST .PRESIDENT. EVER!!!
I love that Colbert is there. If anyone has the time watch his WHCD from Bush’s last year in office. Talk about skewered! I laughed so hard but the audience was mostly quiet. I kept expecting a gong or big hook to drag him offstage. I almost felt bad for Bush. But only almost.
LunarSea, Colbert’s appearance at the WHCD will go down in history as the funniest speaking truth to power moment in American History. It was brilliant on so many different levels.
AJ you are so right. When he spoke no one in the media was doing their job. All were silent–He took the media to the woodshed, and they were stunned. I remember watching in awe with goosebumps that he had the gonads to say what he said. He was courage in action and yes, he did it with a smile. Colbert rocks!
Watching C-SPAN the place is packed.
You’re being way too kind, CTGirl!
Amen Chips. Assholes serve a purpose. Try living without one!
For those of you involved with the boycott of Rush Limbaugh’s advertisers, you might find the following article interesting…
Netflix Posts First Loss Since 2005, Shares Plunge
Granted, the article is offering an analysis that the costs of overseas expansion is offsetting U.S. profits, but it seems telling that Netflix didn’t even post a loss during the 2008 economic meltdown, but it is now.
Whether or not the boycott was the only factor, I would assume that it was a significant one.
Consider, of all the companies frequented by the highly plugged-in participants on Twitter, an online content service is one of the fastest things you can cancel — and one of the easiest things you can offer an alternative to. While the expiration of their Starz deal might impact streaming movies, having this controversy at a time when DVD sales were falling was a very bad idea — because DVD sales are a discretionary and deliberate purchasing decision, someone buying a DVD or streaming film can choose to go elsewhere when browsing content, as opposed to having a subscription unconsciously delivered to their screen.
Having a bunch of tweets with links to their competitors flashing before the eyes of outraged customers who wanted to make an immediate statement was… unfortunate.
Whatever your position on the boycott, I think this is a fascinating business and public-relations story as well, and shows just how sensitive online businesses in particular can be to a major social-media movement.
Saw a pic of Carmichael (at UNC) from friend’s facebook page and it is CRAMMED and BUZZING
