    * And she puts on her pundit hat*

I tell you, this is going to be a very close close race. The President is just not connecting with the heartland anymore. If he were to go into Iowa right now, he probably won’t be able to fill a conference room at Holiday Inn. He is just not as popular as he was with young people, african americans. And, the Ann Romney flap really moved women to the Romney camp in a big way. I talked to my cousin Edna in Jacobsburg, Missouri and she told me that although she was 96% sure she was going to vote for Romney, she is now 97% sure – just because of Hilary Rosen’s comments. The President is really doomed, I don’t know how else to say it.

Aw, Lil’ Barack is back. Hope he knows he’s a supastarrah on the internets!

I love how PBO is spotlighting the student loan issue. Lawd knows I could use some loan forgiveness right now! What also needs to be addressed is the COST of the education itself, not just the financing. The corrupt corporate model has invaded higher education and the price of a degree is bordering on criminal. It’s like we’re eating the young. I would like to see a comparison of how much a college degree (or even a graduate degree) has increased, as a portion of income, over, say, the past 30 years. I would wager it greatly outpaces the growth of income over that same time period. This is not sustainable.

      This may explain it:

Reports of an apparent rift were confirmed by a senior Israeli official, who spoke to AFP on condition of anonymity.

“General Gantz is only repeating publicly what military leaders, including his predecessor General Gabi Ashkenazi, have continuously told the politicians in the last few years,” he said.

“Ehud Barak has evolved and seems more moderate. And (Foreign Minister) Avigdor Lieberman recently told Israeli reporters it was necessary to give a chance to the economic sanctions and diplomatic pressure, that we must give it time and not hurry,” he said.

“In fact, the prime minister is somewhat isolated on Iran,” he said.

I wonder if the GOP are planning to make Romney seem effective by passing the stuff he decides to copy the President about and endorse (before he changes his mind). In that case, Dems should put forth their entire agenda – if Romney wants to “pivot” to the center, then he should be in alignment with everything the President supports. Then let the GOP voters drop the pretense and just vote on their real reason for opposing President Obama – not for policy differences, but because of the color of his skin.

WASHINGTON D.C. — As President Barack Obama was celebrating his inauguration at various balls, top Republican lawmakers and strategists were conjuring up ways to submarine his presidency at a private dinner in Washington, D.C.

The event — which provides a telling revelation for how quickly the post-election climate soured — serves as the prologue of Robert Draper’s much-discussed and heavily-reported new book, “Do Not Ask What Good We Do: Inside the U.S. House of Representatives.”

According to Draper, the guest list that night (which was just over 15 people in total) included Republican Reps. Eric Cantor (Va.), Kevin McCarthy (Calif.), Paul Ryan (Wis.), Pete Sessions (Texas), Jeb Hensarling (Texas), Pete Hoekstra (Mich.) and Dan Lungren (Calif.), along with Republican Sens. Jim DeMint (S.C.), Jon Kyl (Ariz.), Tom Coburn (Okla.), John Ensign (Nev.) and Bob Corker (Tenn.). The non-lawmakers present included Newt Gingrich, several years removed from his presidential campaign, and Frank Luntz, the long-time Republican wordsmith. Notably absent were Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) — who, Draper writes, had an acrimonious relationship with Luntz.

    http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-04-25/fed-officials-reduce-2012-unemployment-forecast-to-7-8-to-8-.html

Fed Officials Reduce 2012 Unemployment Forecast to 7.8% to 8%

Officials forecast the unemployment rate would average 7.8 percent to 8 percent in the final three months of this year versus a forecast of 8.2 percent to 8.5 percent in January, according to central tendency estimates. The new forecasts are still far above policy makers’ estimates for full employment, which range from 4.9 percent to 6 percent.

Unemployment is forecast at 7.3 percent to 7.7 percent next year and 6.7 percent to 7.4 percent in 2014. The gradual return of the jobless rate to a level Fed officials view as being in line with full employment may explain why the Federal Open Market Committee today restated its plan to pursue a zero- interest-rate policy for another two-and-a-half years.

The bored look in the candid shot, where the President is apparently waiting for the drone of somebody else’s idea to STOP? No, I think it’s the kick I get thinking of some futuristic extraterrestrial being who finds a time capsule from 2012 with photographs in it, and wonders why all earthlings hold their arms above their heads when they see their “leader,” clasping and clicking little boxes in their hands.

The trap Democrats are laying for Mitt Romney

    —————————

Dems are currently pushing votes on no less than three major issues, all of which are designed to force Romney to make difficult choices.

First up: The student loan rate extension. Romney has already committed to Barack Obama’s position on this one, but House Republicans are reluctant to go along.

Next: The Violence Against Women Act, where Republicans in Congress have objected to reauthorization if modest Democratic changes are included.

And after that, the Senate will be taking up the “Paycheck Fairness” bill, which covers discrimination against equal pay for women.

THE GOP WAR ON SEX (It’s come to this. Now Hugh Hefner is getting into the act.)

Hugh Hefner warns of GOP ‘war on sex’

      —————–

Hugh Hefner in an editorial for the May issue of Playboy magazine slammed the GOP presidential field as “repressed conservatives” who are “pounding on America’s bedroom door.”

Hefner warned readers of his empire’s flagship magazine that members of the Republican Party are waging a “war on sex.”
      .
      .
“If these zealots have their way, our hard-won sexual liberation — women’s rights, reproductive rights and rights to privacy — lie in peril,” Hefner wrote.

“We won’t let that happen,” he continued. “Welcome to the new sexual revolution.”

Success! Romney only associate success with money, doesn’t matter how you made/make your money, what you did or do with it. If you’re rich, you’re a success…..I have a real problem with that definition.

WASHINGTON — With President Barack Obama pitching legislative proposals at campaign-style events, almost exclusively in swing states important in November’s presidential election, Republican groans have become notably louder, complaining he’s using taxpayer funds to pitch his re-election.

The Republican National Committee on Wednesday turned the groans into action, filing a complaint with the Government Accountability Office requesting a “formal inquiry into whether this pattern constitutes fraud.”

This is also on HuffPuff and guess who Sam Stein is quoting over there ?

CBS’s Mark Knoller, who keeps detailed notes on Obama’s travels, recently told The New York Times that since the president filed for re-election, he’s taken 60 domestic trips and 26 of them involved fundraisers.

According to Knoller, Obama has visited Ohio 20 times, Florida 16 times, Pennsylvania 15 times, Michigan 11 times, and North Carolina 10 times. Those are all swing states. In addition, Obama has visited New York 23 times and California 10 times -– each, ostensibly, to raise campaign funds.

The jackals have been asking questions on the visits to battleground states for some time now. It was obviously as a result of complaints from the Republican Party. The obvious implication being there is something nefarious going on. So I can’t say that I am surprised about the GOP filing a complaint. On April 19, 2012 Jake Tapper went to the well again with more questions and Jay Carney’s responses were great.

      —————————-

Q I have one other question. We’ve talked about this before in this room, about the President’s trips to battleground states in which he has an event and then he has a fundraiser. And I know you’ve talked more recently when Ann asked you about how the language in these different official versus campaign events are often quite similar. What is your message to taxpayers when they see the President flying on Air Force One, doing one official event, one campaign event, flying back, knowing that in a lot of ways, taxpayers are paying for the President to campaign?

MR. CARNEY: Well, they’re not, first of all, because as in other administrations, including our immediate predecessors, as you know, we follow all the rules and regulations to ensure that the DNC or other relevant political committee pays what is required for the President or First Lady to travel to political events. And this — we go absolutely by the book with regard to the payments according to — depending on which events are campaign or political and which are official.

The suggestion that there is something wrong with the fact that the President says the same thing about what his vision is and what his policies are and what his beliefs are in front of official audiences, non-political audiences as he does in front of audiences who are his supporters I think is kind of ridiculous. In fact, I think it is a testament to his absolute constancy and consistency that he — this goes back to Ann’s question — that, yes, when he stands before supporters who are donating to his campaign, who may be wealthy, and says, it is only appropriate that the wealthiest among us do our fair share so that everybody gets a fair shot — that’s the same message he has when he’s talking about the need to pass the Buffett Rule in the Senate. Totally — I think that’s absolutely the way it should be.

And again, with regards to the way every President who’s been running for reelection in our lifetimes deals with these matters, it is by the book, very carefully done and appropriately done. And as you know, Jake, the President is the President 24 hours a day and seven days a week, and he has to fly on Air Force One. He has to have security and communication. There are elements of his job that are always with him, regardless of whether he’s in a campaign event or an official event. And costs are apportioned accordingly.

I still don’t get what that idiot what saying….”There was a time when we were Americans”. So, since President Obama is in office, you guys don’t feel Americans?

    It doesn’t even make sense.

It’s code—–there was a time when our presidents were white Americans—–and there weren’t so many brown people here. It’s a continuation of the tea party cry of “I want my country back”.

They can have it back on January 20 2012. Hopefully another Democratic President will win. A gay man or a gay woman, brown or Black non christian and just as smart as our current President. Not going to happen. We can dream though. Be good to see the old white men burst a vein.

Oh sweet tiny baby Jesus….Romney is having a roundtable with seniors at college in Ohio. Can’t wait to compare and contrast those pics with these. —————————And this is the reason the Repubs will lose this year and in the coming years.

Exactly LOL–This is why I am glad that Romney is stalking PBO and going everywhere he goes. It makes it so easy to contrast the difference. One man loves the people as much as they love him and it shows. He draws huge crowds. The other man is just weird. After he speaks people shake their heads in wonder (wondering what the hell he meant). His audience is so white you can’t use a flash when taking their picture and so old that Lawrence Welk (if he were still living) would be the only band that could perform Mitt’s Slow Jam news. Truly pathetic.

And here they come: Fox News poll Obama, Romney tied at 46—— Fox, The last bastion of real American apple pie journalism, the network who decides where to place countries on maps (FCUK Wikepedia), the Peabody of inserting quotes into Democrats’ mouth, the esteemed panel of nitwits, braindeads, and Sarah Palin…

From Faux News Poll: Meanwhile, being a working mom is seen as tougher than being a stay-at-home mom by 49-29 percent. And being a stay-at-home mom is seen as a tougher job than being a political strategist by 60-25 percent.

      * That sound you just heard, was Ann (and Mitt) Romney clutching their pearls. *
