I’m not sure why they’re releasing all his personal information. As a Secret Service agent, he still had access to secured information, so isn’t it dangerous to release his name and home town – including the number of children, etc.?
The guy does not hold elected office. I understand what he did was wrong, as a married man, and also reflected poorly on the United States–but this is tabloid journalism at is finest/worst. This couple has now put their house up and sale. Imagine, if everyone who cheated on their spouse, were outed by CNN. I’m not surprised…when Piers Morgan still holds a job at CNN after his name being batted around in the phone hacking scandal—I can’t really say I’m surprised.
Yeah – the poor quality and ethical standards of journalism today is shocking! They don’t even stop to think of the ramifications of their actions to score a sensational point – and then they move on to the next victim tomorrow.
It’s stuff like this that really makes you value the high standard to which President Obama and his people have held themselves. The media (and GOP) are like vultures. They pounce on anything and never hold themselves accountable. This is why Romney’s whining at any criticism or fact checking sent in his direction is ultra-pathetic. He won’t stand up to the rigors of the Presidency – or even just the Presidential campaign. I heard someone this morning say that Romney’s been playing in the AAA league, and now he’s in the major leagues.

Well today I joined the Harrisburg, PA segment of the national ‘ war on women march’ and it was great, even though the weather was cold and blustery. Every speech, every sign was about VOTING to get Republicans out of the state house and the Congress. Everybody was on point with that one central message and there were tons of Obama buttons. A state democratic senator excoriated Romney for telling a young woman that the poor could just shop around for health care once Republicans succeed in defunding Planned Parenthood. The anti-Romney boos were deafening as they were anytime Boehner’s name was mentioned. Gov Corbett is not going to live down his ‘Close Your Eyes’ statement any time soon and it’s going to haunt him into 2014, I’m happy to say. One of the speakers said that women actually make up 54 percent of the potential electorate and if they all come out and vote in a united effort, they can’t be stopped. I like the fact that people weren’t just expressing rage and anger, they were focusing on what needs to happen in November and when asked if they were fired up, the response was a huge YES. Women are royally outraged by the demeaning, ugly, intrusion legislation that’s being passed in this country and as the list of laws was read off from state to state, it all looked like a deliberate onslaught against our rights as full human beings. The 31 male R’s who voted no to the Violence Against Women Act were booed and I hope that act of cowardice lives to haunt them all their days. Our job is to harness this energy–make sure everyone is registered, make sure they focus on the enemy and make sure they get out to vote. As someone said today, we saw what happened in 2010, so NO EXCUSES for not voting in 2012.

A poll conducted for the North Dakota Democratic Party gives Democrat Heidi Heitkamp a 5-point lead in the state’s Senate race.
Heitkamp takes 49 percent in the poll, compared with 44 percent for Republican Rick Berg. That’s a small gain from December, when the two candidates were within one point of each other.
That lead for Heitkamp is in spite of negative views of the Democratic Party within the state: 48 percent of those surveyed had an unfavorable view of the Democrats, compared with just 34 percent who approve. Those numbers are practically flipped for the Republican Party: 53 percent viewed Republicans favorably, compared with 31 who viewed them unfavorably.
On the presidential level, Mitt Romney has a big advantage over President Obama: 51 percent of those surveyed said they’d choose Romney, compared to 32 percent who chose Obama. And a full 62 percent said they think the country is headed in the wrong direction, another figure that’s not great news for Obama.
Not that important at this stage of the game, Jovie. We already know that 43% of the country was willing to vote for McCain and Palin, so they’re already suspect. Plus, enough people voted for Republicans in 2010 after seeing them actively work to obstruct any effort to recover from the recession they caused. Some states are going to be fully Republican states, despite evidence that they’re voting against their interests. There are just some states that will get the message, but will be serving a different purpose and a different master. We have to focus on the states we can win, and reaching out to people in our own networks who may be swayed by information they might not have seen before.
