Morning everyone ;-)
Good morning all.
Morning Suzette, morning everyone ;-)
Nice. I am looking forward to tonight’s event.
This picture makes me even more stoked for tonight’s nerd prom.
“Nerd prom” love it!
Happy Saturday Chips!
Please consider featuring this truly special comment by HZ:
oh wow. thanks for bringing that over here, bob. highly recommended for sure!
Thank you 4morefor44!
Good morning everyone
Good morning Cheryllou. We are seconds apart.
Yes that’s nice. I’m so excited about tonight that I hardly got any sleep. My husband told me I’m obsessed with the President and I said, “so, are you jealous?” he just laughed and shake his head. LOL
I hear the same thing around here—-that I’m obsessed with President Obama—–and I respond “guilty as charged” and then add, “Hey, you really look cute today”—–which makes him a little happier and seems to take the edge off the jealousy. :)
        A big hello to the cute Mr Dotster!
I tell you it’s the same here. There are many husbands who will breath a sigh of relief come Jan 20, 2017 just cuz they can finally get their wives back after a decade long partial loss. I too am guilty as charged
Good Morning everyone
Good Morning T.O.D family! Today is a blessed day because President Obama is our commander-in-chief.
I do not believe this, the first four post have the same time.
Chips is this a first?
Ah wow, really Suzette?! That’s definitely a record, I think! :-)
Good Morning! I’m always snickering when I see comments about people posting at the “same time” — the thing is the page only shows hours and minutes, seconds are omitted. Hellooooo. :-)
Beautiful to see such great headlines in South Carolina! How can people not love our beautiful PBO and FLOTUS. It’s almost as if you have to go against human nature not to see how special they are. The Cagle “core convictions ” cartoon cracked me up and Cory Borker–wow, spot on. What a terrific way to start a Saturday.
Good morning from the west coast, everyone!
Cory Booker needs to kick Chris Christie out of the Governor’s office. Free him up for his 2016 already doomed run for President (if he feels he’s ready by then).
I love Cory Booker…I like that “the christian left”. People don’t think of liberals as christians but the type of right wing christians out there, I’d take a kind, compassionate atheist over a mean spirited rw christian any day.
Rise and Shine! It’s nerd prom day. Can’t wait for Pres. Obama to kick major ass!
Can’t wait to see POTUS and FLOTUS tonight. The only reason I will watch the WHCD.
Chips, thanks for bringing back the past Correspondent’s Dinners.
I love to see PBO giggle. It makes me giggle.
Looking forward to him wiping the floor with Mitt tonight.
It’s going to be tough topping last year’s performance by President Obama—–which was a thing of beauty and a joy forever. The Trump takedown was so delicious!
Never underestimate Barack Obama, right, dotster3? I’m sure he is primed and rarin’ to go! For one night he gets to put it in their faces! And he loves it!
Good morning, TOD, Chips, fantastic array of reading, DD4O, we’ll get you there! Have a great day all! ;)
Good Morning Ms Chips , TODville, & TODville ShyOnes! The sun is shining and the world is a beautiful place! If not yet, it will be more beautiful once we let PBO loose for four more years!  Wishing everyone a meaningful and enjoyable Saturday!
Hey, vc, here we are in the early morning lineup! How ya’ goin’, my dear friend? :)
Fine, Pamela, though I’m trying to keep my eyes open. Can’t understand why I feel so sleepy this morning. What’s cooking in your corner? Are you off today, or just getting ready to go?
Finishing my tea, covering DD4O while she registers voters, out to clean the birdbaths, then HiHo HiHo, off to work I go! But next Friday and Saturday, OFF for Two in a Row! Then I shall sleep! (maybe…) :) :) :)
Sounds good to me. Next time you throw a cover DD4O’s way, would you add a little corner of it with me in mind? Though I understand perfectly why ‘furriners’ should not be allowed to mess the pot financially, in only the PBO case, ;) I find it frustrating. However, I KNOW PBO will be successful without all the KOCH-type helpers fawning over the other guy. As for next week-end’s time off, from the little I know of you, i can just see you FINDING things to do. As well, I feel sure I can count on Pres O being too active for YOU to sleep in! Nevertheless, during this week do enjoy the anticipation of ‘Two in a Row’!
Hey, of course I will, with you in mind, I mean! (VC, are you saying you ‘need’ some cool stuff from the Store, cause, if you DO, I AM your girl, you know that, right!.)(no doubt you are right on in me finding too much to do next weekend, by it will be glorious to have the time! And just stay in my trackies for two days, no makeup, no jewelry…bliss!) I’ll be in DC fir Memorial Day weekend, family reunion, but I only have the weekend, and very lengthy list of things to do! It will be massive fun to see the family after 12 years when I made it to the last one!
PAMELA, you have a regular family reunion thingy? Lucky you!  Have a great fun time when MD weekend rolls around! My family has too, too many lethargic people to plan a reunion and follow through. It’s always ‘we should plan a family reunion’, ‘Yeah, we should’, muttered generally at a funeral when you can count on attendance, and when you meet all these cousins etc you’d never seen before. I confess that my side of the family is the worst, so I gave up on trying to coerce my siblings. Thanksgiving alone is a ‘pain’ which I washed my hands of a couple years ago when Offspring got old enough to understand that getting even two other families – who live nearby – together was like pulling teeth. You are so lucky! Of course, I’m not in tears or anything because I enjoy my own company enormously as long as I have something to read, and in the last couple of years TODville has filled the bill quite well! ;) No, no, I wasn’t sending any message about the Store, just sharing a little jealousy that I couldn’t really participate in the presidency of my MOST FAVOURITEST president. I’m planning to come for the Inauguration, if all goes well, so I’m going to try and buy something AUTHENTIC closer to that time.
Yeah, the East Coast family manage a summer get together and often something around Christmas or New Years, but I can’t get to those so easily! I never imagined you were hinting anything about the Store, VC, but as I told CanuckJoyce, I LOVE to have you so-called furriner types properly decked out with OFA gear, as your enthusiasm adds so much to the effort! We all love and appreciate Obots all over the world, and we wish you all could vote, no guessing for whom! If you change your kind, you WILL let me know, okay? Have a great day! Byeeeeee!
Mooooooooooooooooooooooorning VC, morning everyone!
  That smile of yours perked me right up!
This is Great ! How excited are young voters ?
More truth there than what is going on in our illustrious news media on the subject. All are seemingly taking the Rove ad as a cue and as the gospel truth and are seriously attempting to advance the case that Obama is “too cool” for the electorate. Tweety was cooperating and pushing that theme on Weekend Today. This “celebrity” charge was attempted in ’08, to no avail, but they’re giving it another go.
What’s wrong with being “cool”? President Obama also has a caring heart. When he graduated from college he could have done what Mitt “the liar” Romney did. Barack Obama could have focus only on making money, but he became a community organizer, he went to try to help people who needed help.
One of the stories that came out after the election that showed PBO has a kind heart was the story of how this young man standing behind a woman in line at the airport helped her out. She was flying to join her husband who had gone ahead, I believe he might have been in the service but do not remember that part for sure. She did not have enough money to cover her overweight baggage fee and the young man behind her loaned her $100 to cover the charge. She lives in Europe today and when she saw the information about the newly elected President she went into her box for mementoes and dug out this man’s Chicago address and name and saw it fit the newly elected US President. The hometown newspaper printed her story and the paper with our Presidents’ written info on it. I always thought that act showed his kind heart and was glad the story came out.
Quit Insulting US in the Electorate, Twee-TY!
Chips, I do not want to aid in making your (and our) thoughts more “naughty-mat-worth” than you have already earned on your own. But at some point, I suspect that your “innocent” creativity will lead you to make a poster combining the “wet one” of PBO and that of Mayor Cory Booker in the above post. Two men each with an emphatic heart and gorgeous exterior
As in ‘just sayin’…. Already posted that one on my FB pages! Whoa!
Linda, I’d be afraid to produce a poster with both those pics, I’m not sure the hearts around here could take it. Oh, go on then….
Helloooooooooooooooo…….hot hot HOT!
Did that pic wipe the sleep from your eyes, UT??
It wiped it from mine!!!! Thanks Chips, that made my day! Good morning everyone!
My heart!! Can’t. Take. It….
Deep breaths Theo, deep breaths!!!
I’m still here. fanning myself… :)
Lawd have mercy, my heart did not take it. I had to take a heart pill, Chips. You are wiping me out with the wet ones. Oh, my goodness. I was not up and around this morning, because I wanted to be able to watch out fineeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee POTUS at the dinner, so the old lady had to stay near the bed.
So now I am trying to catch up and Lord, have mercy. I will be up all night on the West Coast.
Chips, we love you so very much. You bring so much love, brilliance of mind and a soul that is so full of goodness to all of us. I love our family and All that you do for us daily, Chips.
Just telling you how much I love you and my TOD Family(((((((((((((((( I am So Grateful To Be Here))))))))))))))))))))))) HZ
Wowee, Good Morning Ms Chips and the TOD family, all the way from sunny Trinidad. Goodness me, these two fine, articulate men, side-by-side,as well as their humane philosophies, is the strategy for upliftment this Saturday morn, not to mention the eye candy.
Chips, my medical bill is on the way to your inbox!
I had go through a “code blue” due to such a simple thing as breath! thank God I have a capable medical team on call otherwise Team Obama would be short of committed woman-power in a critical swing-state!
I hear you, GCL!!! HZ
Handsome Dudes Inside & out! Now all we need is for Gov Martin O’Malley to get caught in the, um, rain! lol. Mahalos Chips for your dedication. :)
Gcl, now see what you have caused…..;)
guilty as charged! Chips and the women of TODville have such an “innocent minds” (wink, wink)!
The ‘simplicity’ of the ‘Who’s he listening to’ ad is really powerful IMO. Ads like these should be quite effective in burying Mr. Self-centred Success really well. Gooooo Dems!
By the way, I noticed that YOU liked it so well, Chips, that you included it TWICE! ;)
The “PBO slow jams the news with Jimmy Fallon” from latenight is now at 4.3 million views on YouTube. This is not counting the other 10 or so identical YouTube videos with views ranging from 1 to 40K !
No wonder Mark Knoller, Karl Rove and the GOP were especially nasty all week long!
Of course jealousy and hate are their key motivators. Feel sorry for their sick souls!
Happy Saturday Everybody!
I got the email about the new post and althought I wasn’t planning to come hang out with my TOD family this morning. Tons of errands before going off to celebrte a friends birthday this evening. However, I was compelled to come in and comment about that awesome quote from Cory Booker. The Mayor has encapsulated something so powerful and profound – something so many people “of faith” often forget. I’ll be saying “Amen, amen, and amen” to this until my time is done… and I’ll forward a link to this quote TODAY. Thanks Tien! Thanks Chips!
I hope everyone has a lovely day today. See you later tonight.
Good Morning, Everyone :)
the cartoons are hilarious, Chips :)
Listening to the 2011 WHCD, I cannot do it without thinking that all the while PBO was looking normal and cracking jokes, he had simultaneously put his very Presidency on the line with the raid to find OBL he had ordered already at a point of no return!
with so much on the line that night, how did President Obama manage to keep a straight face when OBL’s name was mentioned in the comedy routine? PBO is really mister cool!
And when he was harpooning the Trumpster with his Celebrity Apprentice “big decisions”—–and said “Those are the kind of decisions that would really keep me up at night.” Even more poignant when we discovered the kind of decisions PBO had to make—-give the go signal for the OBL raid.
BOOM! I thought just heard Chuck Todd’s head explode as he read your comment….
Yes, this is my reaction as well. Our guy is made of some special earth.
I do not have cable. Where is the best place to see the WHCD tonight? Looking forward to gawking and blogging with you guys tonight.
Oh. Good morning to everyone.
I suspect that CSPAN.org will be livestreaming it.
Here’s the link: http://www.c-span.org/WHCD/
Thanks, guys. Will join everyone for the party. I am so excited!
Hopefruit is correct. http://www.c-span.org will begin livestreaming the event at 6:30PM ET.
Looking forward to checking out the WHCD. I’ll have to rely on recaps from TOD family and video clips. Have fun tonight everybody.
Bye bye for a while, back when I can! What a wonderful day! Hugs all around!
Lol @ noot wanting in as miitot’s veep.
Loved the comments from the kids who got to meet Michelle in Naples——“never forget this day”—-“so excited I felt like screaming”—-“was so nervous and then she hugged me and all the butterflies went away”—-“can’t wait to tell my mom”. Contrast with the nasty comments on the website by the nasty adults—–and once again I am reminded of the South Pacific song—–“They’ve got to be carefully taught…..”
Those nasty comments are Koch Trolls…
Remember, they own the Cato Institute. That is where they employ all these Trolls!
Btw- I am registering Voters today, me and three others. We just got here ( in front of Costco) and got five so far!
Good on you Jovie!!!!
God bless you Jovie.
Mahalos, Jovie! Costco seems like a great place to do that since they give to Blue Causes. I was in one yesterday.
My former millionaire boss retired to Naples….
I live in Naples and I can tell you that, surprisingly, the local media TV stations coverage of FLOTUS’ visit was mostly positive. The NBC affiliate did live coverage of all the events and a recap on the 11:00 news interviewing the children who met her at the airport. The local newspaper (Naples Daily News) however, had to close the comment sections on all the stories throughout the day. OBS (Obama Derangement Syndrome) is of epidemic proportions in this town. Lots and lots of 1% live here and really don’t have much to do all day. You know, sitting around counting their $$$$$! But we do have a very active Democratic party and just opened OofA office here last week. We are focusing on the hispanic vote and registration. So great to have FLOTUS in town. Busy working, so I was unable to get a personal glimpse. If POTUS ever comes, you can bet I will take the day off!
Thank you for all your hard work. It is going to take all of us doing what we can do!
To the decent people in Naples, thank you for the respect to our wonderful First Lady. To the racists bigots, with the racists comments, go straight to “H”. 4 More Years of POTUS and FLOTUS. We love them.
The more I think about last year’s Correspondence Dinner, the more I think about President Obama sitting up their smiling and cracking jokes after he’s just sent seal team six half way around the world to kill Osama bin Laden. Me, I start sweating whenever my boss gives me an assignment to complete before the day is out. Stones! Titanium Stones!
Good Morning TOD family. I am out the door to register voters this morning. I have to be at work by 1:00 so I may not be able to turn in more than 10 or so. Just wanted to say that, more and more I am seeing “Obama 2012″ bumper stickers on cars in my county of “Palm Beach” Florida. I have yet to see any for Romney or any other candidate. I hope to be home in time to see the correspondence dinner.
In the past week, I have gotten a promotion, a huge raise, free Pharmacy Tech Training, a job offer to temp in a dental office when ever I am available. Am I better off now than three years ago? You bet I am and so is my whole family. College for two with help from Scholarships, Stafford Loans and both have JOBS!
Peace and Love to all. I will be back on later tonight. I will post how the voter registrations are going.
I am so happy for you Proud. . . I remember at the OFA website and the down times you went through. If given the chance this would be a WONDERFUL America to live in today without the crap from the republicans (intentional with the lower case “r”)
This is what Change looks like! Well Done!
Mayor Booker’s quote is absolutely perfect. He expressed what I believe, so clearly and eloquently. To me that shouldn’t be “Left”…..that should be just plain Christian, and humane. However, as a member of the “left” as opposed to the “right” I’ll claim it and use it. Thank you Corey Booker.
Almost in shock about the Savannah headlines! Quite wonderful!
I love his quote too. I have copied the picture and sent it to many friends. I am definitly a member of the Christian Left!!
Perfect just perfect we like Cory he is a very smart person just like PBO !!!!!!!!
Mayor Booker’s quote is totally Perfect, carolyn! So Perfect it needs to GOVIRAL!
In the picture of PBO getting off Marine One….those people in the background…..is that the media stalkers ?
WHCD Friday night pre-party participants—-also brunch today—–remember it was televised last year, anyone know about this year?

Ha !…reading some of those tweets….Ed Henry is Star Struck…..This is a cool picture though
Woody Harrelson & Steve Schmidt
Woody Harrelson & Steve Schmidt #ganechange #WHCD http://t.co/c0WyskXj— Ed Henry (@edhenryTV) April 28, 2012
Why is Woody Harrison and Steve Schmidt is a cool picture?
Woody played Steve in Game Change on HBO
That’s the movie about that half term Governor person which I shall not name.
I haven’t seen the movie, don’t care too.
Melissa Harris Perry has officially lost her mind. She just said on her show that we should all retire the slogan: “War On Women.” She basically inferred that there is no GOP war on women. She is treating anti-women bills and laws as a cutesy byline on her show. She shamed a lot of women this morning. She’s getting a lot of push back from women and men on twitter who are horrified that someone so educated with such a grand platform would peddle such disgusting rhetoric.
She will only stop when the rating is low. But we are still watching, so there will not be any difference! I stopped watching her show shortly after she began. She has changed a lot. Cannot stand the obsession with the right when they are doing so much evil in the US.
Maybe Cornell West is correct about her…????
I won’t go that far.
Nah….I’m not going that far. Cornel West is way way way worse.
I stopped watching her show. She goes on the nightly shows and says one thing and then say another on her show. Melissa is just like Alex Wagner.
But she’s INTELLIGENT. She says so every other sentence.
The only time I hear Melissa H. Perry is when she is on Rev. Al show, other than that I refuse to watch her show. I rater watch cartoons or sports center, or no tv at all, anything other than MHP. And just because she said that the use of the words “War on Women” should be stop. It doesn’t mean anyone have to listen to her, who is she?
i suspect the network bosses have different criteria for daytime shows than they do for the nightly MSNBC line-up. MHP seems to be much more open and “liberal” when she guests and/or hosts on evening shows.
I watched her first few shows and quit after that. It was pretty obvious she was gonna play msm hack pretty early on. I haven’t watched her since. Getting outraged won’t change anything. Turn her off and quit giving her attention on Twitter. We’re actually making her relevant.
Yickes…what’s wrong with her? Nice to know she’s getting a lot of push back.
So it’s ok for the RWers to use the word ”WAR” for everything but not for the Democrats?
I seem to recall not to long ago their ”WAR on religion”.
I cannot watch her at all….even when she is a guest…I change the channel…..
I’ve never watched her show, have only read the comments here about her.. however, I did use to follow her on twitter, until she went after FLOTUS for going to see The Help. I thought what a small person to single out the First Lady for seeing this movie, that many people were curious about.. to write about her on Twitter and else where over a movie, I found it catty and unhelpful.
Well she just got a twitter pushback from me as well.
You mean like the Republicans retired the slogan “Death Panels” referring to ACA. Oh right, they didn’t. And it had an impact, even though it was a lie through and through. Well War on Women will have an impact BECAUSE it is true.
Thank you utaustinliberal.
I still tripping oon her continously bringing that Buddy Roemer chalemon on just about every Saturday morning. Is it that the MSNBC sponsors demand Roemer have a voice? dunno.
I think she like Maddow and others ‘play’ at being Democrats.. I’m more inclined to believe they’re likely libertarians or even non-party altogether. Thus its no skin off their noses to pump up the Ron Pauls and Buddy Roemers or talk about Gingrich or Romney with enthusiasm on some level. I really believe they consider themselves untouched by who’s in political power- that they’re above it all- the pundits.. they also appear to believe that they can change the narrative w/ their shows/chatter.. and again since they’ve got no real skin in the game.. why should they care?
Its no secret that I detest pundits, they lie, game and BS for a living.. how are they able to seperate how they make their living from how they vote, or the ideas they push on teevee? they’re not. Do we really believe that Rachel Maddow, Melissa H Perry and Chris Matthews want to pay more taxes? Do we know how they feel about anything for real? Matthews apparently changes his ‘thoughts’ and perspective from one show to the next.. MHP was/ is? a Professor who gave it up to put her face on teevee- fame & fortune are HUGE draws.. Rachel Maddow seems to feel strongly about rights for gays, and even about war.. but she too has sat in front of that camera and told bald face lies.. These aren’t people who want the story, or the politician or even the President to overshadow THEM. Pundits are all about their notoriety.. in my opinion. And I don’t for a sec believe that MHP doesn’t choose her words.. she’s there to get PAID, to make a name. Does she honestly care about women’s rights.. are HER rights in jeopardy? Or she living quite comfortably w/ her wealth, with her style of life. As I said, they don’t have skin in the game. Think Olbermann who doesn’t even vote.
But, what these pundits are not taking into account is their pushing the right wing agenda in dubious terms could possibly backfire. They say things under the guise of liberalism now. However, should the right wing take the White House (which I don’t they will so easily) these pundits wealth and possibly there jobs could go too. Unless, of course their positions will remain to encourage hope and change on TV as tokens of the MSM.
Should that happen, again I don’t think it will because I have more faith in the American people, it should put these pseudo pundits in quite a conundrum and might teach them that they are not as smart as they think they are.
I think if a repub won the WH, Rachel, Chris, MHP, et al would be just fine. In fact they’d probably prosper even more.. they’d attack all things republican, rile up the masses- and frankly probably enjoy their jobs even more than now. But lets not forget, that when Bush was POTUS- all the pundits sat on their hands and zipped their lips for the most part, helping him push his war agenda. These folks aren’t on a team imo. Maybe I see them short, but I honestly don’t think so, I think they are that cynical, that cutthroat. Maybe they’d lose something under a repub administration, but I actually think they’d all just move further right- to vie/ compete with the love of repubs life: Fox.
oops, typo: maybe I SELL them short.
now having said all that… I am keeping my eye on Martin Bashir.. I’m curious to see how having his obvious popularity growing- effects his style/integrity on ‘punditing’. Will he continue to be straight up.. or will he join his co-workers in playing both sides.
wow, your posts are spot on this morning.. I usually have her show on in the background while I am doing stuff. I am so tired of having to second guess everyone that is supposedly on my side. It is truly exhausting. :(
thank YOU.. what a very nice thing to say Renegade :) I’m blushing here !
sherijr. kicking ass and taking names. So clear, precise, no filters. Great commentary. Thanks for expressing exactly my thoughts on the pundocrity. Can’t trust any of them, after a while. Love of money is the spoiler of integrity.
well thank YOU ED :) I agree, we really can’t trust any of them about anything. I keep that in mind when they write/report about famous people/stars.. and even when they talk about republicans. Of Course republicans hurt themselves everytime they open their own mouths.
I don’t watch MHP
She sounds like Bill Mayer saying we should just accept limburger’s “apology”. What is she? A Stockolm Syndrome Victim.? I got a WAR for her..Women Against Republicons because of the REALITY of them WAGING WAR AGAINST WOMEN. Get a Freakng CLUE MHP. And, no, I don’t watch.
Sorry, I don’t know why I wrote “Mayer” instead of “Maher” for Bill.
Wow. The above few comments are the worst kind of eco-chamber. Those folks you mentioned are liberals, even if you don’t agree with them all the time. It seems like people are ignoring 95% of good stuff from these people and banging hard on the 5% misfire. Good job drumming liberals off TV. Fox will love you for it.
Good west coast morning Chipsticks!
Good west coast morning TOD family.
Looking forward to tonight’s WHCD – let the fun begin!
That Corey Booker is some kind of man. I believe he has a future…..as a model human being in politics.
Ummmmm – Corey and POTUS – yummy :-)
yep, I’m a big fan of Mr. Booker too.. he’s going places I’m sure of it.
He’s up there with POTUS in all good things. My thoughts would put me squarely on the naughty mat.
I’ll tell you a little something.. between us Jackie.. my eldest son looks a bit like Mr. Booker ;)
Sherijr–He must be really good looking.
Yes I have 3 not too shabby looking sons.. lots of girls have told me so ;) The eldest has put on a bit of weight.. and the other day when we skyped I noticed he looks more and more like this actor who’s name I can’t recall.. but that photo of Cory Booker really looks like him. Anyway, more importantly – he’s a good guy too :)
Which time is PBO’ smackdown of everyone tonight? I really don’t care about anything that happens in this pretty ugly even before that.
PBO’s smack down will probably be around 9PM ET or 10PM ET. I’m not so sure. But livestreaming on C-SPAN TV and online begins at 6:30PM ET.
Also going to be livestreamed on WHitehouse.gov from 8PM.
Happy Saturday! I went back and read the heartfelt thoughts that HZ so eloquently put into words…HZ, if you are reading this, you nailed it. Just like you always do. Music on the page, dear woman. You have a way with words, and I love you for that. Thank you so much for putting into words what we all feel.
Secondly, hey, guess what? The ACA is really popular….as they say, the devil is in the details:)
No wonder the RW hates this and wants to demonize it….as more and more people begin to see the benefits, more and more will love it…and we can’t have THAT now, can we?
More more thing….Cory Booker? Out of the park! Love him, and I hope that he decides to do big things on a national level…there was someone here awhile back that didn’t know who Cory Booker was….now you do.This is the measure of a man.
I hope PBO makes a joke about eating dog meat tonight…..maybe he can ask the press how they enjoyed their meal of dog meat marsala ?
Tastes like chicken! That would be hilarious…
Totally ruined chicken marsala for me, but, oh well, if it gets a laugh …
No I don’t think the President should mention eating dog meat when he was a child, might offend dog lovers.
Aggressive voter registration drive in Florida. What I don’t get is that there are 448,000 more active registered Dems in Fl. than Repubs—–Florida should be ripe for the taking, shouldn’t be a “toss-up”. GOTV efforts will be key again—-critical.
Actually, a lot of those registrations go back years and people haven’t changed them. They are true Reagan Democrats, which means Republicans. Of course, since the current Republican Party has thrown Reagan unbder the bus, they still shouldn’t vote Republican.
Of the last 10 polls Obama beats Romney in 8 and ties in 2. Is this a rerun of 2004 or 1996, with Romney playing Dole? bit.ly/cag7Cn— Gary Younge (@garyyounge) April 28, 2012
I do find it curious how no one is prostituting gallup now that it has the Prez leading by 7. And all this after he unpresidentially slow jammed the news!!!!!!!!!
I’d like to repost this from yesterday..I think it got buried. Must Read…looks like someone either GOT HONEST, or GOT A CLUE!
Let’s just say it: The Republicans are the problem.
That’s a great post, DF. It would be nice, if for the health of our democracy, the msm would take the advice of these writers, and start being honest in letting the American people know how extreme the repugs have become. Sadly it will be business as usual.
That was a great article and I loved how it challenged the feckless media to end their “both sides do it” nonsense. Apparently, the article was excerpted from a soon-to-be-released book. I’m hoping the authors get to appear on the political shows to promote and discuss their book. Maybe some of these so-called journalists will get a clue. After all, they are nothing but followers and now that someone has assumed leadership on this issue perhaps others will follow. I guess I can hope.
Inside the link from Desertflower is really powerful and frightening link within “Goodbye to All That: Reflections of a GOP Operative Who Left the Cult.”
Wow, Chips. You just put sun in a rainy day in central Illinois, with all those images. Well done! The headline from Savannah = priceless.
Certainly Bill Maher and his show can go off the rails, but it was out of the park last night. He had some libertarian on at the beginning (fast forward through that), but Paul Begala was kickass brilliant. I didn’t know he had it in him to be that smooth with not only ideologically smackdowns, woven skillfully with Romney’s record as governor. With humor, not just a flood of facts, but well-stated so the image would stick. Maher likes this S. C. Kupp as a guest, a Republican twit with an annoying voice that everyone shut up. It was a great show last night. Paul Begala was EXACTLY the kind of surrogate I want to see (and I’m not always his biggest fan but he was brilliant last night).
His ”new rule” was spot on….stupid media
Begala is an unpaid adviser for Priorities USA!
Begala…unpaid adviser for Priorities USA is great news, Jovie. His humor is wickedly funny and he’s so fast on his feet. I agree with 57, if anyone gets a chance to watch Bill Maher’s show last night it is well worth it. Funny thing is I almost didn’t watch it as I’d just about reached the conclusion that it wasn’t worth the cirrus.
I see who he has on and decide accordingly. My husband screens the ones I walk away from and lets me know if I should watch. The ease and effectiveness of Begala last night was trrrific.
I have to make a comment about Bill Maher last night. Paul Begala was really great. He shut S.E. Cupp down, thank God. She talks such nonsense. When Paul Reikoff (sp?) came out, I was very disappointed because he was talking about hot the military wasn’t being taken care of and NOBODY talked about all the President and Michelle and Jill Biden are doing for them. He talked about the high unemployment rate, not speaking to the fact that its gone down dramatically because of the First Lady’s and Jill Biden’s push for companies to hire vets and their families. He said nothing of all the good the President has done for the military. Just watching the President and First Lady in GA yesterday made me so proud and there was nothing said about anything they’ve done.
Although he was critical of the situation, I thought I heard him give some credit to this administration. I may be wrong, but usually I bristle like you do if someone doesn’t mention what the administration has done for veterans. I certainly could be wrong
Everyone have a nice day. Tonight’s the night. I can’t wait to see our intelligent , hip, cool, smart, handsome President and our beautiful First Lady on the White House Correspondent Dinner.
Unfortunately, I am not feeling so good. It’s rainy. I’m sore and stiff. I have to go to a funeral this afternoon. I’m not over funerals; I just buried my daughter a few months ago. Now it’s her friend who passed away from Cancer.
I’m going to DVD the White House Correspondent Dinner so when I come my spirits will be uplifted!!!
Sorry to hear about the loss of your daughter, and now her friend relellit! Our thoughts are with you. Hope the WHCD helps you feel a little bit better this evening!
I am sorry for your loss. My condolences to you, your family and the recently deceased family. I’ll be sending warm uplifting and comforting thoughts your way.
Oh dear relellit, I too am so sorry for your loss. Please know you are in my thoughts today and sending you many warming ((((hugs)))). Take care.
Thank you every one. I’m off to the” land of tears” now. Will check back later. I think of of all the people who don’t have insurance when I think of my daughter. Fortunately, she had disability due to her chronic respiratory disease; but what of all the millions of other people who don’t?
These republicans are enough to make anymore sick.
Sorry for being so depressing. I just get so angry at all the lies the GOP/ Tea party and their operatives advocates for their greed and power.
I’m have vowed to myself I will be going to an OFA office soon. I may not be able to walk all that well; but I’m sure the volunteer office will find something for me to do. I just can’t take these bast-turds and their operatives anymore.
Have a nice day everyone.
NO NEED FOR APOLOGIES, relelilt. You are having to endure the most unfathomable pain of outliving a child. I wish I had words to comfort but all I can do is is try to empathize with your pain knowing I fall short.
God Bless; I hold you in my heart.
God bless you with much comfort relellit. There’s almost nothing so hard as burying one of your children. You will be in my prayers. You didn’t depress any of us, I’m sure. Just brought out the compassion and the understanding. We’re all there with you.
Not expressing at all. I am just glad there is a site like this where you have compassionate ears and hearts that hear you and pray with you.
I am impressed with your determination to work in an OFA office. So many people need health insurance. I know that your daughter is proud of all the loving and caring that you generate. I certainly feel it.
My prayer for your con tined comfort and strength is going up right now…
I am so sorry for your loss. We are not supposed to outlive our children. Today is the 9th anniversary of my son’s death It doesn’t get easier, we just get better charishing their memory.
So very sorry to hear of these terrible losses. Will be thinking of you and sending positive thoughts.
My prayers are with you, relellit!!!! I can’t imagine how painful it is to bury your child and now her friend. Know that you are not alone!!!!
my condolences on your personal deep loss. hope you can find a way to press on … but it often takes a while to dull pain.
Our collegekay posted this pic of jam packed voter registration drive!
Do you know the location of collegekay’s twitpic? It is indeed “jam packed”. Very uplifting!
I believe it’s OFA in DC. They’re planning to go to VA to register voters!

So let me get this straight, these journalists are the same ones saying PBO is “too cool”….but they are clamoring to get autographs and pictures with the Hollywood elite? Words fail me.
Hypocrisy thy name is the mainstream media.
The media seems desperate. To me they’re even more hyper-excited about the WHCD than they used to be in the past. Like a bunch of Kindergarteners in Disneyland!
No, “they” are not saying the president is “too cool”. What they ARE doing is carrying GOP water because they’re terrified of being branded as “liberal media”
The irony is that it’s all for naught: if they utter a single fact/truth about PBO/dems, the right wing wurlitzer goes from high gear to blast furnace.
From Charles Blow…..what young people’s priorities are
And while some Catholic colleges have responded to the controversy by stripping contraception from their plans, Georgetown University — the nation’s first Catholic institution of higher learning — has announced that it will not adopt any changes to its health insurance policies and will continue to provide birth control coverage to its employees. In a letter obtained by ThinkProgress dated April 26, 2012, President John J. DeGioia informs the Georgetown community that the University will offer contraception “for students who require them for health reasons unrelated to birth control,” and will institute “no change to the University’s approach to contraceptive coverage for employees”:
I just watched to video of PBO vs Willard speeches to college students. 2 Questions, How many people were at Willards college rally? And WHY?
Williard’s rally was closed to the press…so we may never know how many attended. What a snob !
Must have been bad! :-)
my understanding is that Otterbein University is a private, institution affiliated with the United Methodist Church. He probably had some connections withe the Dean or the school administration and they probably made the students attend????
Whatever the reason, it worked for me because it gave us that awesome video with Romney droning on about the office supply industry and the intricacies of tax filing law and Dodd-Frank financial legislation.
I watched part of his speech on Martin Bashir’s program, and I noticed that the students didn’t seem very enthusiastic. I thought that they looked like they decided to attend because their professors had promised them extra credit for doing so!! LOL

I know I did!
Guess he needs more time to practice Who Let the Dogs Out.
That’s exactly what I was gonna say jaquelineo’. In my mind Mitt’s lack of awareness of pop culture and what inspires the youth vote would lead him to another “Who Let the Dogs Out” major mockery.
So much for his bracketing…er, I mean, stalking.
I’m at a loss for words. (It’s a first!)
This should be reported everywhere:

Amen. The guy is dangerous to his country and the world.
I wonder if he’s had someone pull up a genealogy that traces his line back to King David, like a true Messiah.
Here is a link:
this much is clear.
On Veterans Day last year, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee did float a plan to privatize the veterans health care system but he was forced to back away from the proposal after swift condemnation from veterans groups.
Romney has also said he supports Rep. Paul Ryan’s (R-WI) budget proposal. That budget “would cut $11 billion from veterans spending.”
ThinkProgress asked the Romney campaign if the former Massachusetts governor has a detailed plan to address veterans issues but it did not respond before this post was published.
On the substance, it doesn’t seem like the Romney campaign has been paying much attention to what the Obama has been doing. CAP’s Lawrence Korb and Alex Rothman noted in February that “President Obama has made much progress in tackling veteran unemployment” while urging Congress to pass the president’s $6 billion vets jobs corps program. Last month, Obama announced a housing plan to help military vets who were victims of illegal foreclosures and First Lady Michelle Obama said earlier this month that companies had pledged 15,000 jobs for military spouses as part of the administration’s “Joining Forces” program.
Didn’t someone post yesterday that PBO won an honor (TWICE) because of the tremendous job he and his Administration have done on veterans issues…especially ending veteran homelessness? This is a classic case of Republicans using the military as a prop. They NEVER do anything to help veterans and their families. EVER!
Mitt and Ann has five children, all boys, from their marriage.

Joshua Romney (1975)

Among the five, Josh appears the most likely to follow in his father and grandfather’s footsteps, having served in a number of political positions in the past several years, most notably as an advisor to his father’s presidential campaign and Utah Governor’s Gary Herbert gubernatorial campaign.

These über-nerds give the über-wealthy a bad name, methinks. Other than the doctor, what have any of them ever done for humanity?
It’s insane how the MSM is almost wetting themselves on Twitter and breathlessly posting pics of themselves with celebrities, yet they mock PBO for being “too cool.”
Yup Yup.. And for the most part, let’s be honest, the majority of these are B List actors. Before Game Change, the last movie I saw Woody Harrelson in was White Men Can’t Jump.
Like the GOP, their criticisms of PBO is driven by personal jealousy and resentment.
I was just reading some on the #WHCD …kind of pathetic really.
G’day shipmates. Still winding down from the birthday thing but had to stop in for a bit o’ lurking. Does anyone know when the “nerd prom” starts and on what channel?

Thanks hopefruit. I see this info is also at the top of the thread which I skipped over to get to the comments A real dumb ass move.
Another take on why this piece was so important!
From PM Carpenter:
In “Let’s just say it: The Republicans are the problem,” the Brookings Institution’s Thomas Mann and the American Enterprise Institute’s Norman Ornstein let loose with a righteous fury that refreshes, mostly because their opening proposition–that Republicans are incontrovertibly “the problem”–ends with an admonitory and almost equally thematic swipe at the problem-children of mainstream journalism. “[A] balanced treatment of an unbalanced phenomenon distorts reality,” write Mann and Ornstein, hence journalism’s “even-handed, unfiltered presentation of opposing views” only invites more destructive distortion.
Wrap your head around that.
Ornstein was on Jennifer Granholm last night……talking about his book
The Broken Branch: How Congress Is Failing America and How to Get It Back on Track
If Ornstein is a token anti-RWNJ at AEI he’s awfully intelligent, substantive and fair. Ive been following him on and off for years.

First time I’ve seen Obama Diary. Wow. This is so cool, so wholesome, so American. Yet our President seems like an hallucination from the 60’s. Still, four years later. Romney Attacks Stimulus At College That Took Stimulus Funds
Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney campaigned with Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R), who presides over one of the least job-creating states in America, today at Otterbein College — a school that benefited from the passage of the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, commonly known as the stimulus.
Otterbein received a grant worth more than $80,000 for a federal work-study program in July 2009. Ignoring that fact, though, Romney proceeded to attack the stimulus in his speech to students:

US officials: Core al Qaeda ‘essentially gone’
// AP) WASHINGTON – A year after the Navy SEAL raid that killed Osama bin Laden, the al Qaeda that carried out the Sept. 11 attacks is essentially gone but its affiliates remain a threat to America, U.S. intelligence officials say.
Core al Qaeda’s new leader, Ayman al-Zawahri, still aspires to attack the U.S., but his Pakistan-based group is scrambling to survive, under fire from CIA drone strikes and laying low for fear of another U.S. raid. That has lessened the threat of another complex attack like a nuclear dirty bomb or a biological weapon, intelligence officials say. //

that is going to be so much fun, and a great way to push back against his republican propaganda. i’m so thankful to be alive during this time when we can fight back against the lies in such a direct way.
Somebody had to Snark Knoller! He was Begging for it!

BWD is calling out MHP on her BS about “diverse arrays of voices.”
@MHarrisPerry The problem is not the diverse array of voices, it's the diverse array of lies about Obama. There's enough of this all around.— BWD (@theonlyadult) April 28, 2012
Wow…just looked at MHP twitter page….she has a huge ego…..me…me…me…me… I…I…I….I….
So if we were debating what the Moon was made of and you have a group that says its made out of cheese, Melissa would invite those people on as a “diverse array of voices” instead of calling them a bunch of whackos?
Exactly – and hence my and others’ comments to her:

Yes. You’re exactly right and I just tweeted her on her twisted logic. This is not a graduate seminar with 10 students in the room. She is on the fricking tv with what appears to be an astonishing lack of real world experience or a sense of responsibility.
I love academic exercises. I really do. But we can get enthralled in a phrase of Shakespeare and not do justice to the substance and effect of the entire play. MHP takes no responsibility for the effect of her silence when lies are given the same respect as truth. I’m not saying she needs to cheerlead for our team (although I’m sick and tired that tv is almost devoid of some healthy cherrleading for our President) but nonsense is nonsense and is not deserving of respect. Is this what passes for liberal arts education these dsys? Is judgment and critical thinking out of thee equation?
Exactly, BWD! And if , MHP could possibly be a LITTLE LESS OBTUSE she wouldn’t need to be told that.
Excerpts from WHCD:
“Yes. The secret’s out–thanks Joe. I do have a big stick.”
“Unlike some people, my wife doesn’t make me wear her jeans.”
“Yesterday I was reading the papers and saw Mitt Romeny’s face on one of the pages. I put it down on the floor so Bo could get a better look and asked him what he thought of Willard. Bo gazed at it, walked in circles around the paper, stood still, nodded his head, sat down on the paper as if in great concentration, then he got up and left his remarks on Willard’s face. The WH butlers cleaned up the mess so unfortunately, there’s no room for Willard’s rebuttal.”
“Am I intimated by the awesomeness that is the Mitt Romney campaign? One word: NO.”
“A liar, a two-faced ingrate and core-less hack walk into a building. The security guard says: Hey Mitt.”
“Who’s a venal liar, too rich for his own good and will never be president of these United States?”
I love the second excerpt. Him and Favereu(sp) appear to have written an awesome speech. I cannot wait to hear it, and see what Michelle is wearing.
Um. I made those quotes up. These are my fake excerpts. They’re for sh¤±s and giggles. Everyone should come up with some funny things they’d like PBO to say.
You got me.
ewww….I don’t like those personal attacks….
That’s okay Linda. They’re personal cause I made them up. I was being snarky about the excerpts. They’re what I’d want him to say but that’s just me.

Dear Rightwing Nutbags,
Bo Obama should be charged with the unlawful use of tax payers dollars. Have you seen Bo? Laying around all day, traveling inside of The Beast (as opposed to on on top of it)
and flying around on AF1 –rather than strapped onto one of the wings?
He’s also been known to make secret visits to the oval office.
Who knows? His ancestry is Portuguese but he may be a Russian spy! He’s a danger to national security and he’s—horror of horrors!!!!—- cool!!!! And the last thing we want is a cool First Dog, known for palling around with other dogs well below the office of the First Dog.
In closing, Bo Obama is hazardous for America!
Another Rightwing skuzbag!
ps- I love you Snark, you are a cut above Mark Troller.
ROTFLMAO! I LOVE IT lisa!
well done Lisa.. good catch of Bo eavesdropping on POTUS there by the door..
Oh, thank you, Snark Knoller, for making your presence known. Yesterday, after BWD’s fabulous initial tweet to him, I found myself “bullying” Mark Knoller, like a teenage MEAN girl. Even went back last night and wished him good luck today pushing back the frontiers of journalism as a maiden voyage. Nasty. Felt a little guilty. I much prefer snark! I’m really a lot more sweet and feminine than how I was behaving half the day yesterday (I’ll get affidavits, if needed). :)
Couldn’t resist. Nice visual

I posted yesterday that PBO and FLOTUS received the highest award for Veteran advocacy. Little did I notice that the article stated that PBO was the FIRST person EVER to receive this award more than once!!!!!! This is a BFD folks :)
// The Obamas were chosen to get this year’s Jerald Washington Memorial Founders’ Award, according to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans (NCHV), and Barack Obama is the first person — in history — to receive the award more than once.”
I saw that article and the fact that President “Barack Obama is the first person in history to receive the award more than once.” stood out for me.
what a person we have leading this country
michelle obama and her beau will be out and about tonight, and that reminded me of one of their other evenings out that i’ll never forget –
the ending was especially amazing. one of the best “tribute” moments ever recorded, i think, and of course look who is right in the middle of it…the obamas, ‘natch!
Michelle has glasses on…. I have never seen her wearing glasses before.
oh heck ya! that was right outta my childhood :) Absolutely outstanding.. loved it, thanks so much for posting this :)
glad you liked it too. really special moment. i’ve never really liked steven tyler/aerosmith, but he was amazing that night and was so much fun to see his intense excitement and appreciation to be up there. i choke up every time i watch it.
4morefor44!! Thank you for posting this!! I would love to know who produced that segment. THAT WAS AWESOME!!
I have always loved the “Kennedy Center Honors” ceremonies. So well done, so balanced, excellent talent, even the ‘lesser known’ performers are always great!! Who ever produces it knows TALENT, not just shine and bling and popularity. Again, thanks for that video. That really was a tribute. And how cool is it to see your work done and appreciated by all present, including the President and FLOTUS!!??!! WAY COOL!!!
Hey TOD our team had a great day registering voters in Virginia. We got 4 NEW VA VOTERS and three were Obama supporters and one Ron Paul supporter who said if Paul doesn’t make it he’ll vote Obama. So needless to say we’ve got his vote as well. One young guy had moved to Va just two months ago from Texas and was glad to have us there to get him registered. There were so many of us volunteers in a small area of Va that we left and drove about a mile to the Pentagon Mall and had much better success. One young lady told us she was already registered and but thanked us for better out there doing what we were doing because she said it was so important that we reelect President Obama this year. That comment alone made standing out in the cold today well worth it.
I got to meet our Collegekay at the DNC before we left for Va and she is too cute. She is an inspiration to her generation. I’m so glad she is out there leading the way for our side. Senator Mark Warner rallied the volunteers at the Va OFA office and that fine Michael Blake (Deputy Operation Vote Director) got us Fired Up and Ready to go with, “In 2008 we changed the guard but in 2012 we guard the change”.
HF2, in that picture you posted upthread of us at the Virginia HDQ Kayla got a shot of my head in that picture. :)
Chips thank you so much for posting my fundraiser and thanks to all of you who donated. Now I’m off to take a nap before the WHCD.
“In 2008 we changed the guard but in 2012 we guard the change”.
That is a great line…. I will pass it forward.
Thank you so much for all your hard work, donna! A very good day, indeed:) I like the “In 2008 we changed the guard, but in 2012 we guard the change.” Perfect!
This is great news Donna! Thanks for all the hard work you’ve been doing and for sharing this with us. Yes, in 2012 we must “guard the change!”

New post everyone:
VP Biden. A BFD.
I don’t know why Tomasky has to bring John Kerry down to build up VP Biden’s speech. It stands on its own. And, his “Probably a stretch on reality” when refering to VP Biden’s description of PBO’s Focus irritates me too. Like Tomasky was there inside and knows just what happened better than Joe? Also bringing “penis” into the piece?! Zeus!
But, Yeah, VP Joe Biden gave a Stunning Foreign Policy Speech that was Earned from this Admin. PObama chose the best VP for his Admin.
Thanks for the link, df~
Well today I joined the Harrisburg, PA segment of the national ‘ war on women march’ and it was great, even though the weather was cold and blustery. Every speech, every sign was about VOTING to get Republicans out of the state house and the Congress. Everybody was on point with that one central message and there were tons of Obama buttons. A state democratic senator excoriated Romney for telling a young woman that the poor could just shop around for health care once Republicans succeed in defunding Planned Parenthood. The anti-Romney boos were deafening as they were anytime Boehner’s name was mentioned. Gov Corbett is not going to live down his ‘Close Your Eyes’ statement any time soon and it’s going to haunt him into 2014, I’m happy to say. One of the speakers said that women actually make up 54 percent of the potential electorate and if they all come out and vote in a united effort, they can’t be stopped. I like the fact that people weren’t just expressing rage and anger, they were focusing on what needs to happen in November and when asked if they were fired up, the response was a huge YES. Women are royally outraged by the demeaning, ugly, intrusion legislation that’s being passed in this country and as the list of laws was read off from state to state, it all looked like a deliberate onslaught against our rights as full human beings. The 31 male R’s who voted no to the Violence Against Women Act were booed and I hope that act of cowardice lives to haunt them all their days. Our job is to harness this energy–make sure everyone is registered, make sure they focus on the enemy and make sure they get out to vote. As someone said today, we saw what happened in 2010, so NO EXCUSES for not voting in 2012.
