I think what most People are missing, that was part of their plan! To accrue Debt, thereby justifying cutting of Spending, on their terms.
Then, they turn around and say, it’s the Democrats fault. If it was not so sad, I would laugh!

Awwwww Huff-Puff has a sad this morning. Seems as though Lady Baroness Countess Arianna has a full on wedgie all because President Obama dared to talk about the killing of Bin Laden. I’m thinking maybe Arianna is still butt hurt from that smack down given to her from President Obama on Saturday night. This day has a strange feel to it, it’s like the Republicans finally figured it out that President Obama is about to get medieval on their asses.

    • 21 hopefruit2
      April 30, 2012 at 10:45 am

Arianna is one of those Republican “villionnaires” that David Corn is referring to. Why doesn’t she just endorse Mitt Romney already and we’ll all be happy. They all belong together in a waste basket.

    • April 30, 2012 at 10:46 am

But the really sad thing – off all – is that I just typed in “news.google.com” from my Dutch IP address – and I got Arianne’s “It’s despicable to use OBL catch” as a headline.

Perhaps Google can explain to us how this is all just arranged “using computer programs” ?

When they keep talking about it, it’s all sour grapes.
People love the fact bin laden is dead, accept for Glen Greenwald, that is!
Thus, if they keep bashing it, it’s a win/win for this President.
      Laugh- this is fun!

The President isnot boasting. He is just telling the truth and they can’t handle it. She picks out one item and ignore the rest. Nothing about jobs, health care. That’s all they saw on the video. Well, they haven’t seen anything yet. The President has put on his boxing gloves.

In advance of Mitt Romney’s appearance with New Hampshire’s freshman Sen. Kelly Ayotte, New Hampshire Democrats argued that Ayotte will not be Romney’s vice presidential pick.

The release cited polling from this year and last year showing Ayotte’s approval is down 10 points among women and down 8 points overall in the last year.

“Romney may need a life raft if he stands too close to Kelly Ayotte. Her sinking poll numbers could put him even further underwater in New Hampshire,” said Raymond Buckley, chairman of the New Hampshire Democratic Party.

Ayotte has been a surrogate for Romney, particularly as the former governor seeks to win over women voters.

Mitt Romney will campaign with former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani on Tuesday, the one-year anniversary of the death of Osama bin Laden, CNN confirmed.

Giuliani endorsed Romney last week after initially expressing support for Newt Gingrich. Romney and Giuliani were rivals in the 2008 GOP presidential primary.

THE REPUBLICANS AND THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA ARE THE PROBLEM

    ——————————–Thomas Mann and Norm Ornstein—————–

We understand the values of mainstream journalists, including the effort to report both sides of a story. But a balanced treatment of an unbalanced phenomenon distorts reality. If the political dynamics of Washington are unlikely to change anytime soon, at least we should change the way that reality is portrayed to the public.

Our advice to the press: Don’t seek professional safety through the even-handed, unfiltered presentation of opposing views. Which politician is telling the truth? Who is taking hostages, at what risks and to what ends?

Also, stop lending legitimacy to Senate filibusters by treating a 60-vote hurdle as routine. The framers certainly didn’t intend it to be. Report individual senators’ abusive use of holds and identify every time the minority party uses a filibuster to kill a bill or nomination with majority support.

PRESIDENT OBAMA AS MEDIA CRITIC – “FALSE EQUIVALENCE”

—————Speech to the American Society of Newspaper Editors (ASNE)————

I guess another way of thinking about this is — and this bears on your reporting. I think that there is often times the impulse to suggest that if the two parties are disagreeing, then they’re equally at fault and the truth lies somewhere in the middle, and an equivalence is presented — which reinforces I think people’s cynicism about Washington generally.

This [disagreement about the federal budget] is not one of those situations where there’s an equivalence. I’ve got some of the most liberal Democrats in Congress who were prepared to make significant changes to entitlements that go against their political interests, and who said they were willing to do it. And we couldn’t get a Republican to stand up and say, we’ll raise some revenue, or even to suggest that we won’t give more tax cuts to people who don’t need them. [He is referring to the famous moment in which all Republican candidates were asked if they would support a budget deal skewed 10/1 to spending cuts over tax increases. They all said No.]

And so I think it’s important to put the current debate in some historical context. It’s not just true, by the way, of the budget. It’s true of a lot of the debates that we’re having out here.
Cap and trade was originally proposed by conservatives and Republicans as a market- based solution to solving environmental problems. The first President to talk about cap and trade was George H.W. Bush. Now you’ve got the other party essentially saying we shouldn’t even be thinking about environmental protection; let’s gut the EPA.

Health care, which is in the news right now — there’s a reason why there’s a little bit of confusion in the Republican primary about health care and the individual mandate since it originated as a conservative idea to preserve the private marketplace in health care while still assuring that everybody got covered, in contrast to a single-payer plan. Now, suddenly, this is some socialist overreach.

So as all of you are doing your reporting, I think it’s important to remember that the positions I’m taking now on the budget and a host of other issues, if we had been having this discussion 20 years ago, or even 15 years ago, would have been considered squarely centrist positions. What’s changed is the center of the Republican Party. And that’s certainly true with the budget.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) will bring to the floor in coming weeks legislation to protect women from retaliation by employers if they inquire about salaries paid to male colleagues.

Great Read from Jon Meacham in TIME:

    Jon Meacham

    Why Obama Owns bin Laden
    ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————-

He learned it early. Barack Obama is many things; among them, he is a tough and even ferocious political warrior. In his book Dreams from My Father, Obama vividly describes how his stepfather taught him to box in Indonesia, and how he himself still remembers the feel and smell of the Everlast gloves they wore as he endured punches until he found the strength and the skill to land blows of his own

    Read more: http://ideas.time.com/2012/04/30/why-obama-owns-bin-laden/?iid=op-main-lede#ixzz1tXLRKj3z
    ————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

In this well reasoned, substantive, and deeply researched article, Jon basically asks the Republicans “U Mad Bro?”

    • 60 prettyfoot58
      April 30, 2012 at 1:28 pm

The ad’s theme is that Obama made a courageous and risky decision to send in the SEALs. Here the President has history and facts on his side: it was a courageous and risky call. Had the mission failed, had it been another Desert One, the very people now criticizing the President for trumpeting the achievement would be beginning their second year of excoriating Obama for weakness and fecklessness. And anyone weighing whether to re-elect the President should take the bin Laden operation into account: it is a powerful exhibit that Obama is a steely Commander in Chief — a critical test for many Americans…..

TAKING A HATCHET TO PRESIDENTIAL POWER

    =======================================

After obstructing, filibustering, sabotaging, hostage taking and delaying everything President Obama has tried to do for three and a half years, the GOP is essentially saying that voters should reward them because President Obama has not cleaned up the mess they created fast enough. Steve Benen wrote a terrific post on this phenomenon back in June 2011. The GOP ties President Obama’s hands, obstructs everything he tries to do for the good of the country and then blames him for the slow economic recovery. I am so glad that Robert Gibbs made this point yesterday on Meet The Republicans with David Gregory. Every Democrat that gets near a microphone should be saying the same thing. People get this.

Taking a hatchet to Presidential Power

By Steve Benen (June 20, 2011)

    ——————————–

And while we’re at it, let’s also not forget the ongoing scandal involving the Senate GOP refusing to allow votes on qualified administration nominees. While senators have “long exercised their constitutional prerogative to derail nominations,” the NYT explained today, the current “standoffs differ in at least one respect: Republicans have said they are not opposing a particular nominee but rather any nominee, whoever it may be.” A former Republican aide conceded, “This isn’t about any particular appointee — Ben Franklin could come back to life and [Senate Republicans] would oppose him.”

What I find remarkable about all of this is comparing the seriousness of the times and the severity of the GOP’s restrictions. In effect, President Obama is being told, “You have to fix the economy, win several wars, fix the housing crisis, respond to disasters, improve American energy policy, and keep the country safe, all while being fiscally responsible. But you can’t have a full team in place; you can’t enjoy the same powers your predecessors did; you can’t use the same tools your predecessors used; and you can’t expect the Senate to function by majority rule the way it used to. Good luck.”

Obama pictured next to swastika in Grand Rapids flyer that claims U.S. is becoming Nazi Germany

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – A flyer recently placed on parking meters in downtown Grand Rapids pictures President Barack Obama next to a Nazi swastika, threatening that a “Holocaust is coming.”

“Obama is a puppet,” reads the handout that decries the Affordable Care and the National Defense Authorization acts. “Hitler’s Nazi Germany has been revived in the U.S. and the target is Americans.”

The pamphlet disturbed 59-year-old Vern Jones when the Georgetown Township man parked his car along Campau Avenue NW before a meeting last week. Jones went to feed the meter and the flyer blocked the coin slot of his timer as well as others nearby.

Jones took the card off of two others, believing it was inappropriate to force an audience to see the printed rant that pairs Obama with an atrocity like the Holocaust.

“I certainly respect the right to an opinion, but this is a sick opinion,” said Jones. “People have a right to say what they want, print what they want and hand it out, but that gives me a chance to say no. It has gone too far when it’s put on public meters and to a captive audience without a choice.

“I know conservatives don’t like (Obama), but with the swastikas, it’s just too much for me.”
