Charles Pierce: Is anyone taking seriously the complaints now coming about how the president’s re-election campaign is using the decision to kill Osama bin Laden to its own advantage? I think the killing of the author of the 9/11 atrocities, and a considerable international murderer even beyond that particular crime, is something that a president who wants to be president again is within his rights to use…..
…. it’s no more or less “fair” on the merits than is Romney’s constant refrain that the president “doesn’t understand how the economy works” because he’s never been a vulture capitalist.
….. demonstrating the pure class and raw political courage that has marked his entire political career by throwing a cheap shot at someone who wasn’t in the room, Romney said that, “Even Jimmy Carter would have given that order.” This from a man whose toughest decision in his life has been which house to sleep in.
…. every time he talks about foreign policy, Romney is a blindfolded man in a yard full of rakes. He wrote a Washington Post op-ed about arms control that proved Romney didn’t know enough about the subject to feed to his fish. He flirted with advocating a trade war with China, and he and his advisors occasionally slip and call Russia “the Soviet Union.” Of course, he did make the bobsleds run on time, so there’s that.

Washington Post (Chris Cillizza and Rachel Weiner): The one-year anniversary of the killing of Osama bin Laden has occasioned a fierce political debate about the appropriateness of President Obama’s reelection campaign touting the death for their partisan benefit.
It shouldn’t. Here’s why …. simply because the death of bin Laden bolsters Obama’s case for reelection doesn’t mean that it is out of bounds. What’s good for the political goose is good for the political gander.
In case you need a little more convincing, remember that President George W. Bush stoked considerable controversy when just one day after formally announcing for reelection, he launched TV ads that prominently featured imagery from Sept. 11, 2001. “Sept. 11 changed the equation in our public policy,” White House spokesman Scott McClellan said at the time, defending the ads. “The president’s steady leadership is vital to how we wage war on terrorism.”
That’s, in essence, the same argument that Obama and his team are making about the use of bin-Laden in two web videos released by the campaign over the last 96 hours. If the American public needs to make a judgment on Obama’s first term decision-making, then it doesn’t make sense to ignore one of the major moments of those four years….

Charles Pierce: Good on the Obama people for taking on the current national campaign of voter-suppression at the local level. Back in Mississippi during the Freedom Summer, volunteers were deeply schooled in the various regulations and tactics used to deprive African Americans of their right to vote ….
The new Florida rules … were the centerpiece of a training effort over the weekend by the Obama for America staff in the state. All volunteers and staff members in Florida are required to attend a mandatory session on the new laws … Those who go through the training must pass a quiz administered by the campaign before they can attempt to register voters on the president’s behalf.
This is absolutely the same thing that those people did in Mississippi 50 years ago, and it’s become necessary to do it again because the same foul impulses that brought us literacy tests and the poll tax is bringing us these latest attempts to make difficult what should be the easiest right for us to exercise. And, not for nothing, but Greg Palast brings our attention back to 2000 again, and the effect that what looks today like a rudimentary exercise in voter-suppression had on our history.

The Fact Checker (Washington Post): Two well-funded Republican groups began running hard-hitting ads against President Obama last week, aiming to spend an estimated $8 million in key battleground states. The spots hit similar themes, attacking Obama on green-energy investments, and even cite similar sources.
Watching these ads is a depressing duty for The Fact Checker, because many of their claims – regarding “billions” of stimulus dollars going overseas – had been debunked two years ago by our colleagues at PolitiFact and Factcheck.org. Yet here the erroneous assertions emerge yet again, without any shame, labeled as “the truth” or “fact.”
….. One can certainly raise questions about how stimulus funding was used and whether it was effective. But there is no excuse for these kinds of ads, which take facts out of context or simply invent them. These groups should be especially ashamed, given that these claims have been previously debunked, or, in the case of the erroneous ABC report, withdrawn.

Hey, g’day Chipsticks, and TOD family!
I love the faces on these children, that little girl holding FLOTUS’ arms, is in heaven!
In the not really important but looks goofy department, why is Mika in a hot pink strapless today?
Mika think she is Ms. America.
She’s trying to look like FLOTUS. Imitation is a form of flattery even if Mika does not know it.
Good morning Chips and TOD.
Good morning all.
New ad is getting attention:
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/la-pn-obama-campaign-romney-swiss-bank-ad-20120501,0,935954.story
I recommend to the GOP not to piss off this President any further with their ridiculous lack of reality… They know not what they are setting themselves up against. He IS serious about Change. He’s been saying it all along. They should shut up and listen.
This is freaking awesome!
This is now the 3rd installment of the WHCD under President Obama, and I start to think: Why do they need to engage a comedian ? The president can handle that party pretty much by himself, already !
Without a doubt!
He might have loved PBO. Anyone think Ryan Lizza’s “criticism” of PObama needs further comment? “The other presidents used the podium for self-deprecating humor and PO uses it to dig in the shiv”. That’s BECAUSE, RYAN.. the other presidents were incompetent and PBO isn’t but his enemies get full blown corporatemediawhore ATTENTION AND THIS IS PBO’S OPPORTUNITY TO FREAKIN’ REPLY TO THEIR LYINGA$$ES.
Finally see what Ryan Lizza looks like. Thanks for the clip, Chips~
hf…is this really happening? The article is from Nov. 2011.
Nice ad!
Jury duty for me today…perfect way to spend my day
Let the media monkeys and their monkey handlers go apeshit over obl. After this week’s faux poutrage is over, the only meme that will stick is that Obama nailed that terrorist and mittbot was pissed off about it.
Is anyone having the issue of site loading very slowly today ? I had to refresh many times to get the page.
The GOP is whining that PBO is hitting Romney under the belt.
Doesn’t Romney wear Magic Underwear to protect him ? What a crybaby
well, he does wear those jeans pretty high. If he get hits above the belt, he’ll cop it on the chin……hey now, that’s a thought
“I got bin Laden” is now being unfair to Mittens? Lying about PBO is FAIR???
This is mission accomplish for real and by the way PBO primised the Country in the debates with McCain
that if he knew where OBL was he will kill him wherever he might be hiding. and kept his promise. If OBL would
be still on the loose by NOW the PL and the GOP would attacking PBO asking where is OBL?.
But, they never whined that Willard was LYING HIS SOCIOPATHIC, PATHOLOGICAL HEAD OFF. So they’re FREAKIN NULL & VOID.
Philly area TOD’rs — anyone attending the following event this afternoon? If so, hope we’ll meet there!

Wish I could, Alycee, but I’ve got another meeting and could never get there in time. Bryn Mawr is my college campus so would love to see it again. Could you please sum up what Congresswoman Schwartz has to say? Have a great time.
Morning TOD. Alycee, I am at work until 5pm so, a no go for me. I try to keep my participation relegated for weekends, which causes me to miss some important events, but I do what I can.
TOD fam — thanks for your hugs & prayers last evening. On my way now to for final salute @ the VA Cemetery, then I’m going to do what my friend and mentor would want — get out here and work even harder to reelect the President!
LOVE YOU FOLKS!
Good for you, Alycee. Action is good medicine.
Love you back:)
Love you back!
Charlie Rose was really disappointing this morning. He basically lobbed softball questions at Romney, yukked it up with him, and didn’t question him about his statements regarding Bin Laden.
Romney was allowed to sit there and play the victim with Charlie nodding along. Romney was allowed to say Pres. Obama was politicizing the killing of OBL, and that PBO was taking all the credit and not acknowledging that he, Romney, gave him credit for getting OBL. He also was allowed to Etch-A-Sketch his comments where he said it was a waste of time spending resources going after one man.
Charlie was mostly interested in how cute the Romney’s looked – Ann Romney was also on the set – how right they looked, how complimentary they looked, how un-stiff Romney looked, how Ann could tell the world ad nauseam how wild and crazy Romney is, how people like him so so so so much.
It was just Ugh. Rose got a lot of push back on twitter. I’d like to see how he defends his crap interview.
Poor Charlie looked more enthusiastic in the interview than Mitt did. Mitt still has some explaining to do about those BIn Laden comments.
Right for what? A retirement home? A world cruise on their yacht? They’re certainly not right for the WH and there’s nothing about either them that qualifies as cute.
Charlie Rose is not a real journalist, he’s an entertainer.
IT’S TIME FOR ROMNEY’S KATIE COURIC INTERVIEW
It’s long past due for Mitt Romney to have his version of the “Katie Couric” interview. You know, an interview where the host has done their homework and will actually challenge outlandish claims and talking points responses. An interview where we get real, substantive questions asked that should illicit some idea of exactly where Romney stands on the issues.
So far, Romney ensures he is in the safe confines of right wing radio, FOX, and the likes of Diane Sawyer, Matt Lauer, and Charlie Rose.
These interviews could just as easily been on TMZ. Meanwhile, he has open invitations to appear on Meet The Republicans and Face The Republican Nation. So far he has not accepted. I doubt if either one would be that hard on him. So what’s taking so long? You want to be the leader of the free world and you can’t do these shows until some particular time?
If Romney really wants to prove he is ready for prime time, I would love to see him interviewed by Rachel Maddow, Lawrence O’Donnell, Rev Al, Fareed Zakaria, Martin Bashir or Bill Moyers. He will never do that because he wouldn’t be able to handle their questions.
He can run but he can’t hide. Sooner or later he has to meet the press and he has to debate the President. He should be reading up, studying up and learning all he can about foreign policy and the names of countries and their leaders.
He might go on FOX but from their last encounter I seriously doubt Romney wants any part of another go round with Chris Wallace. Or Bret Baier for that matter.
Good point derbingle. I forgot about those once in a blue moon interviews on Fox where tough questions are asked. The Bret Baier interview was just painful to watch. And I must say, I can’t figure out what gets into Chris Wallace every now and then when he actually asks a decent question with a follow-up. I still wish Romney had the courage to be interviewed by Rachel Maddow. That would be must see tv. But it’s not going to happen.
On the Toon thread, there wad a mention of the Bo ad, as in presidential pets… Has it been posted somewhere and I have missed it? Would love to see it! Have a terrific day, y’all, I am glad PBO has no public events today. I’m thinking he looks a little tired, I wish he could take a family break. Hugs all around, back later! HZ, you are just so lovely, thank you for bringing your Soul level consciousness to us each day! Xo
Is this the one? 28 More Years! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fOzAuRuRih8
Oh! Maybe that was it, I saw it the day before, loved it of course, then I thought there might have been another one! Thank you very much, Susan, have a good Obama~Biden day!
Chuck Todd is giving it to the Romney surrogate
I am shocked….what is he saying.???
Yea, I listened to it coming in. I think sane journalist are ticked off at the GOP trying to say President Obama is politicizing the death of bin laden after what President Bush did with Mission Accomplished and Cheney did to Senator Kerry by stating if he were elected we would get attacked again. People aren’t stupid, just the GOP.
No Way!? Dish! Por Favor!
Good morning everyone. Just have to get this thought down so I can move on to something else! Since I heard Romney’s comment yesterday about President Carter, it has run non-stop through my mind. Perhaps because I remember those terrible times when every night I watched Nightline after work to see the current status of the hostages. It remains one of the defining memories in my life.
Romney’s campaign can try to “humanize” him all they want but the bottom line–as evidenced by this comment and other unscripted remarks–is that this man is just plain MEAN. It is somewhat amazing given his supposed religioud dedication but there is obviously a mean streak that runs through him. For most politcians, I would assume that when it came to actually cutting things like food stamps, Pell grants, housing assistance, etc they would have second thoughts. For Romney, I don’t believe that for a second.
Yesterday my 22 year old daughter told me a story of her grandmother-in-law falling in a public park. She was fairly seriously injured and my daughter noted that three people walked right on by without stopping to offer to help. She asked me what is wrong with us a people that three people would walk by an 80+ year old woman who was obvioously injured without offering assistance. I too have pondered where we are a a society in terms of assistance, caring for others, helping where we can. I don’t have the answer but I believe that the current Republican party is a reflection of where we are as a society in terms of our values.
My dad was a life long Republican. But he raised us to always help others, care of those who were not as fortunate, and don’t complain about paying taxes if you make enough to pay a hefty sum. That attitude has completely disappeared from the current Republican party. The party’s blatent lies, lack of humanity and just plain meaness is a sad spectacle.
Regardless of what you think of President Carter, he made another courgeous tough call that failed. I have no doubt it was and remains the worst day of his life. To watch Romney so casually throw it out there is beyond sad and is truly “despicable”. So where is Ariana on this comment?
The contrast between PBO and Romney could not be more striking. One of these men has spent is entire life trying to make things better for those less fortunate at great financial sacrifice to himself. As a former lawyer in the large firm market, I am well aware of the huge amount of money PBO could have commanded upon his graduation from Harvard Law School had he chosen that route. Then there is Romney, who has spent his entire life furthering his own wealth and political ambitions. I have little doubt that he would be one of those who walked on by the 80 year old woman injured on the ground if he saw no benefit in it for himself. Which one of these men do we want leading this country?
Great comment, FoxfireTX! I think what your daughter saw at the park was the , “me, me, me” attitude on display in full force. That is not who we are, and it even pained and sickened me to read those words on your post. “I’m fine, FU” has been in full peacock display from the RW forever….look at everything do, and everything they DON’T DO.
You summed this up perfectly, now if you can go about your business and not think about this again, you’re amazing:) The cumulative effects of the RW and their dastardly deeds, keep me up at night, and the anger factor amped….will turn that into work for the President and congress so I won’t have to feel this feeling anymore come Nov. Great post:)
You’re so right, Foxfire. Romney wouldn’t want to get his hands dirty or suffer the inconvenience of helping someone. PBO would not only have stopped he would have waited until medical help came, tried to make her comfortable, made she she got home safely and called her that night to see if she was ok.
Great summary Firefox. I have seen similar behavior in so many who have risen to the top by stepping on others to get there. I chose President Obama without a doubt. I wish others would see Romney as the lowlife he is.
did you ever hear of this story, where 20 years ago PBO helped a stranger at miami airport? no doubt he’s been doing this kind of thing all his life:
http://www.zenmoments.org/the-kindness-of-a-stranger/
That was such a moving story we heard about during the last campaign and it was not President Obama that brought it up. He has ben kind and compassionate all his life. You either have it or you don’t and Romney does not.
Sorry Foxfire. Trying to correct on my iPad is not easy.

Your comment is spot on. The paragraph above touched me deeply. I was outraged to hear Mitt Romney make that flippant remark about President Carter. Sadly, it’s nothing new. As Congressman Barney Frank has said, there is a “MEANNESS” about Mitt Romney. And that was certainly displayed in that comment. But most importantly it was disrespectful, unseemly and unnecessary. You could tell he was poised and ready to deliver that response. It was disgusting.
Chris Matthews was incensed by the remark. And James Fallows was not pleased. You asked a good question. Where is the outrage from Arianna about this?
I like this comment.
Just plain MEAN is what got me to respond. Everything he says goes back to being mean. He has no empathy or sympathy for anyone who he considers beneath him.
Years ago I was crossing on 34th St near Macy’s in NYC and this elderly woman grabbed my coat and I realized she was holding on to me because she was fearful. I stopped, slowed my pace and held her hand and took her accross the street and helped her on to her bus. She told me that “your people” are the only ones that ever helped her to cross. She is white I am Black.
The same goes for an old lady in my son’s building. During the last hurricane watch my son gave her his radio and went to the store to get her food. He is Black, she is white. We have to get back to the time where people helped people.
Our President has brought out the best in some of us and he will continue to inspire us for the next four years and beyond.
I submit that romney has an evil spirit beyond mere meaness.
Thank for the post, FirefoxTX
http://jezebel.com/5875237/compassionate-mitt-romney-told-unmarried-woman-shed-go-to-hell-if-she-kept-her-baby
Peggie Hayes, 23-year-old divorced woman, found herself pregnant with her second child while she was a parishoner under Romney’s counsel in Massachusetts. One day, Romney came over to her house to offer her some religious counseling, and encouraged her to give up her child to the Church’s adoption agency after it was born, since the Mormon faith dictates that giving a baby up for adoption is preferable to single parenting. When Hayes balked at Romney’s suggestion, Mittens told her that unless she followed Church teachings, she could be excommunicated.
Romney clarified that Hayes’ excommunication would make her unable to enter Heaven, so, in short, Mitt Romney told a pregnant lady that unless she did what he said with her baby, she might end up going to hell.
REALLY?????????????????
Disgraceful.
Romney being Romney.
DF, I heard about this story and it horrified me. This shows a man without compassion, ruthless in his power. This was when Romney was a bishop of the church and he’s risen even higher now. There is no disguise this guy can put on that will hide the fact that he is a man with no heart or conscience. Not to overuse the word, but the man is despicable.
I think the story is in this MUST READ Vanity Fair article….
http://www.vanityfair.com/politics/2012/02/mitt-romney-201202 The Dark Side of Mitt Romney…..That’s the title:)
Had to weigh in on this one. You are NOT excommunicated for having a child out of wedlock. Social services are there to help moms who aren’t ready for whatever reasons to single parent, and allow them to pick out adoptive parents who desperately wants children. This is a personal experience in my daughter’s in-law family. One of the birth mothers still has personal contact, (I’ve met her). The process is a dignified and moving experience. I believe this is a tale that has aberration of the facts. Having a husband who has and is serving in the same roles as Romney also gives me some experience in dealing with situations.
If the mother wants to keep her child is she allowed that option? Not every woman can or wants to give up her child. I was a single mother and I cannot imagine giving up any of my two children and believe me I had a hard time raising them.
My daughter told me recently that I never complained, never gave up. Maybe the young woman he counseled just wanted someone to listen to her and give her encouragement.
She raised her son herself and they both are doing well so all is well that ends well.
Oh definitely! One of the young women in our ward(congregation) got pregnant, was given counsel to let the baby be adopted, and kept her child. The girl is 18 , a great girl, and her mom has since married (someone other than the dad, who she nearly married when the bay was a toddler) and had three more children with her husband. We all loved the baby and mom had our support. They are just fine. It is done all the time, no one is ostracized. Had a young unmarried of mom of 6 just baptized, it was so special. We welcomed them with open arms.
Romney is sooooo Freakin’ GOING TO MORMON HELL.
OK, I am a genius—-thought y’all would like to know that. See, a robin couple has set up housekeeping somewhere near the front of our house. And all day long the husband (or boyfriend) has been attacking our front windows——peck peck peck peck, all day long, on all our front windows—-irritating to the max. We could not figure out what was going on and so after a little research I learned that the husband robin sees his reflection in the windows and thinks it’s another guy robin trying to hit on his wife——(not that bright)—-and so he keeps charging at him (the window robin) to try to discourage him from trying to get in on his action. After reading all these complicated remedies, I came up with my own clever solution. I put some of my kids’ old stuffed animals on all the window sills——and voila!—-problem solved! (looks silly but windows are saved and annoying pecking has come to a halt) Even though that robin was trying to be all macho, turns out he is afraid of teddy bears!
LMAO, great story
Bird whisperer!
Hahahahahahahahahaha…….I needed that belly chuckle this morning.
That lady bird must be some hot mama. Doesn’t that sound like Romney? He sees his reflection in the presidential mirror and keeps clunking his noodle on it…too bad it doesn’t knock some sense into him. Ha ha, the true definition of insanity.
Am so proud of the Obama Team. They have put Romney on the defensive regarding Bin Laden & all there response is to cry like little babies.
Should Coulda Woulda scenarios from HELL.
Great stuff Chips. Thank you!
The real strategy behind pres. Obama’s stealth attack on Romney re: Osama bin Laden is because if he had not done so, the entire Repug cabal would have swarmed the airwaves on this First anniversary to steal the credit exactly as they did last year when OBL was killed and Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz et al all flooded the airwaves to take credit.
Now that Pres. Obama has asserted his alpha male territorial boundaries, they are left sputtering on the sidelines. And now Pres. Obama can mark the anniversary without pesky Repugs crowding the field. Genius!
Yes, zizi2, they HATE when he gets all alpha-male on ‘em!
That was one of the first things I noticed about Barack Obama — he has real qualities of empathy and compassion (e.g., the baby-whispering), but that is balanced by a very real alpha-maleness. Fully integrated and totally mature. Nice to have that in a leader.
Pop yo’ collar, Mr. President. Pop it!
You are so right, zizi.
brilliant observation
This is the way I took it. Some think it a campaign strategy. I view it as proactive counterattack. Shore up your creds lest someone else steal them.
IS PBO in Afghanistan?!?!?
Wow…could be….he had no events on his schedule today.
OMG. OMG Eat that SUCKERS.
Robney is in Newyork & PBO in Afghanistan? Will the REAL Commander in Chief please stand up!
False Report: The WH Denied it.
Holy Hannah, I wonder what’s going on.
That little girl holding on to the First Lady looks like Pepperann lol
She’s adorable.
And I notice Jan Brewer didn’t have the nerve to greet FL Michelle on the tarmac. I’d love to see that goat dare wag her finger in Michelle’s face…
Trumpdog – you know chickie thought about it for a hot second and changed her mind with the quickness.
http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entries/ann-romney-on-mitt-wild-crazy-man-inside
Well, Ann…THIS isn’t good either!
In a joint interview on CBS Tuesday morning, Ann Romney said that the biggest misperception about her husband is that he is viewed as “stiff.”
“He’s not. He’s funny,” she said. “There’s a wild and crazy man inside of there just waiting to come out.”
why would anyone want a wild, crazy man as their president ? The lies romney’s spew…. /smh.
As usual, they are OVER CORRECTING….I don’t know about anyone else, but I’s bet my right arm that no one wants a “wild and crazy man” for President!
Oh that wild and crazy guy has been out alright….ask Shamus.
Sorry Ann, Mitt is boring and stiff.
Is there a man inside of there that can tell the truth?
Is there a “man” inside?
Look at the last sentence..what’s taking him so long to come out? She stayed with a man for years that was dull and boring? She needs to learn how to articulate. I am sure that’s not what she really means.
What is he waiting for? Don’t his supporters need to see what wild and crazy things he will do if he is unleashed? And we need to get the nets ready! Come on Ann …. unleash him! Take a walk on the wild side!
Hi Everyone, just saw tweet about PBO now in Afghanistan….wow! https://twitter.com/#!/TOLOnews/status/197313463566090240
then another one from US Embassy, says the rumor is false….hmmmm…..where’s my PBO
“where’s my PBO”
Hahaha, I ask the same question after a time. We’ve seen so much of him the last few days, and begin to miss him when we don’t. I miss him right now. It’s sad really, because I don’t know what the heck will keep me entertained and rapt after he leaves office. Guess I’ll truly get on with all my dreams in full force
Paging Elizabeth Warren! Paging Elizabeth Warren!
http://thinkprogress.org/health/2012/05/01/474099/scott-brown-aca/
Sen. Scott Brown (R-MA) ran as the 41st vote against President Obama’s health care reform bill in a special election to replace the late Sen. Ted Kennedy and voted three times to repeal the law and take way health care coverage from the 30 million Americans who will benefit from the law by 2014 and the millions who are already taking advantage of its provisions.
But yesterday, this Tea Party champion and great opponent of Obamacare admitted something astonishing: his 23 year old daughter is one of the 2.5 million young Americans who are benefiting from a regulation that allows young people to stay on their parents’ health care plan until age 26:
“Of course I do,’’ the Massachusetts Republican told the Globe. Brown is insuring his daughter Ayla, a professional singer who is 23 years old, under a widely popular provision of the law requiring that family plans cover children up to age 26.
Brown said the extended use of his congressional coverage is not inconsistent with his criticism of the federal law, enacted over his objection after he won a special election in 2010, because the same coverage could be required by individual states.
Someone needs to explain to conservatives that being a “rugged individualist” is not the same thing as being a “selfish prick.”
The agency that oversees Medicare reports that reforms in the Affordable Care Act saved seniors a total of $3.4 billion in prescription drug costs in the two years since the law’s passage, with savings resulting from a combination of discounts on Medicare prescription drugs and rebates for seniors who fell under a coverage gap.
TP.
More proof of FAKE DEFICIT OUTRAGE:
Showing that they care more about tax cuts for the rich than balancing the budget, House Republicans say that they have no plans to offset an extension of the Bush tax cuts with spending cuts.
TP
Isn’t this sweet…
Mitt Romney’s advice to students was to borrow money from their parents, and that’s his own family’s way of doing things, it seems. The New York Times reports today that Tagg Romney launched a start up hedge fund with money from the donors to his father’s 2008 presidential campaign. Mitt Romney and his wife gave $10 million, and the start up raised a total of $244 million from 64 investors.
Is this even LEGAL??????????????????
Hey TOD, I know we all know that Pres. Obama saving the auto industry was a BFD but when you hear personal stories about how it drastically improved peoples lives, it makes his decision and his tenacity in fighting for people from all walks of life just that much more special.
Good great getting up morning all you O’s!!!!! This Robme campaign is imploding. Former Pres Carter made an excrutiating decision, that didn’t go too well, and he served in the military…yet Mitts find it necessary to criticize him? Anne is out there vying for the top spot on the ticket…wonder if she’ll schoose Mitts as her running mate? Mitts is too scared to talk with network media (will only appear on FAUX comedy channel)…can’t keep temper in check maybe? Either way, I bet the behind-the-scene activity in that campaign is full of gnashing of teeth, ulcers, and Pepto by the gallons.
A large proportion of the Asian-American vote is up for grabs in the 2012 election, according to a new poll. While President Obama leads Republican Mitt Romney by a wide margin — 59 percent to 13 percent — impressions of Romney remain largely unformed, and both Democrats and Republicans have work to do with this potentially important but often overlooked voting demographic.
Obama was strongest among Indian-American voters, leading Romney by a margin of 76 to 8 percent in the poll, and weakest among Filipino Americans, where the vote was 57 percent to 20 percent. Among Chinese Americans, it was 68 percent for Obama, 8 percent for Romney.
http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2012/05/asian-americans-2012s-stealth-swing-vote/256567/
I don’t get this. Are they saying that an overall lead of 59% to 13% bodes troublesome for PBO? In the six months remaining until the election that somehow PBO will lose enough support of this demographic to make a difference. What again is the problem for Democrats? That’s a wider gap than any other group except AA’s . This is no swing vote at all, imo.
Just another story about supposed trouble with a group that is already firmly standing with President Obama. I guess too many people have caught on with their lies about the Black, Latino, Jewish and gay communities .So now they’re trying to claim the Asian Americans are souring on POTUS. More msm nonsense.
Oh come on. You know they HAD to find another demographic that Pres. Obama is having trouble with after exhausting the gay/Black/young/small donor/big donor etc voters memes
Oue household is Asian-American. It is 100% Obama
Next poll-
Obama leads with insects 100-0, but it is close, within the margin of error.
Thanks for the laugh, Jovie
Almost choked on my apple.
Not only that- Asian Americans account for 2% of the popular vote.
Look it up!
Yes Asian Americans are often overlooked by the media because they probably AREN’T UP FOR GRABS! These folks are reaching for anything to make this a horserace.

As for Arianna, maybe the notion of Obama as a real politician—as opposed to some above-the-fray hopey-changey transformational post-partisan savior—has broken her idealistic heart. I’m sure there were plenty of people out there in 2008 who believed Obama would upend the politics as usual of Washington—that he would somehow get congressional Republicans to come to the bargaining table in a spirit of respectful cooperation and sensible compromise. I suspect some of them also cling to the belief that candy-colored unicorns will ultimately gallop in to save the day.
Is Team Obama’s ad a political punch to Romney’s magnificently chiseled jaw? Of course it is. It is harsh, exploitative, tacky even.
It is, in short, perfectly in keeping with today’s political climate.
A couple of weeks after Obama’s 2008 victory, then-House Financial Services chairman Barney Frank grumped to me that the president elect’s can’t-we-all-get-along message gave him “post-partisan depression” and predicted the GOP would quickly “dis-post-partisan” Obama.
Hardly seems sportsmanlike for Republicans to be complaining about their success in this matter.
Robney campaign-
But but but we wanted to kill Bin Laden! Not fair!
There you go!
Their goes the FBI keeping us safe again.
Anarchists ( probably from OWS) wanted to blow up a bridge in Cleveland, are under arrest.
Nice job!
Damn that govt intervention!
I think that group uses OWS as a cover.
Someone help me…this is bothering me. After OBL was killed, didn’t Boner say that he would NOT say a special thank you to the Navy Seals that killed OBL because then he would “have to thank everyone for everything they ever did” or something like that….I don’t think that I’m wrong on this, I just can’t find the source. Anyone?
He did not pass a resolution in the house saying that, they did in the senate!
Thanks, jovie…do you have a link to that?
Tweet worthy:)

Since taking control of the House, Republicans have pushed to offset the costs of everything from emergency disaster relief to unemployment benefits and tax cuts for the middle class. Their singular goal, they have said, is to cut the deficit and debt, and their willing to gut social safety net programs, including Medicare, to do it.
When it comes to the budget-busting Bush Tax Cuts, however, the story changes. Both the 2001 and 2003 versions of the Bush Tax Cuts expire at the end of 2012, and when the House GOP attempts to permanently extend the cuts later this year, they won’t offer a plan to pay for them, The Hill reports:
“Romney — like many Republicans — was hostile to requirements for elevators imposed by the Americans Disabilities Act (ADA). In two items flagged by a Democratic operative, Romney vetoed legislation that would have improved elevators for the disabled. On June 26, 2006 Romney vetoed an improvement project with the price tag of $40,000 with his line item veto. The project would have allocated the money to Woburn Development Authority for improvements to an elevator to meet the standards set in the ADA. Romney justified the cuts saying the programs along with others he vetoed “would be nice to have, but which we cannot justify paying for out of rainy day funds. A smaller number of these projects are just pure pork.”
As Governor, Romney kept a private elevator in the statehouse locked exclusively for his personal use. The elevator became a symbol of his distance from the press and the state legislature, as veteran lawmakers complained about a lack of access to the Governor. After Romney finished his term, the elevator was reopened.” http://www.buzzfeed.com/andrewkaczynski/mitt-romney-vetoed-human-elevator-bill
What a wild and crazy guy, huh Anne?
Ugh. He gets more assholey by the day.
US manufacturing grows at fastest pace since June
WASHINGTON (AP) — U.S. manufacturing grew last month at the fast pace in nearly a year. New orders, production and a measure of employment all rose.
The Institute for Supply Management, a trade group of purchasing managers, says its index of manufacturing activity increased to 54.8 in April. That’s the highest level since June and up from 53.4 the previous month. Readings above 50 indicate expansion.
The positive report helped the stock market turn positive

Rumsfield joins in the faux outrage.
Gosh, you’d think they want OBL to come alive again so that they can kill him.
The man that cannot leave the country is a crybaby ?
hahahhaaa
All these Bush people need to sit down and shut the fuck up.
Hey Ck I volunteered out in Va last night. We called supporters to inform them about the rally in Richmond and to get more volunteers for the campaign. They offered some of us VIP tickets to the Rally. I cannot go so I gave mine to one of the other volunteers that wanted to take her husband. That place is going to be rocking on Saturday.
Yeah! I’m glad. If I wasn’t swamped with work I wouldve came over to phone bank.
Can this moron even leave the country? He should be in jail.
It only helps POTUS that all the people criticizing him are despised by most Americans. Can’t wait for Dick Cheney and his evil spawn to weigh in, lol.
Chips if you get a chance please post an interview Chuck Todd did with Señor this Morning. Everyone needs to see it & send Chuckie some thank you Tweets. It was a complete smack down. Thank you.
Will look for it Me4O!
Can someone tell me why Mitt will only go on network news stations with his wife along side him? Has he given any interviews out side of Fox without Ms Ann in tow?
What a pathetic little man he is….
He’s too wild and crazy to go it alone. Anne is the Mitt whisperer.
Too bad for the zombeys that ann needs a whisperer too..and that wouldn’t be willard.
Donna don’t worry Princess Ann won’t be standing with him when PBO smacks his ass during the debates. he doesn’t get tough questions when his wife is besides him that’s his wimpy calcultion & soon the press will be called out for it.
Great points !!
Because, that is supposed to win him the Womens vote. Only problem is, she is not very smooth and puts her foot in her mouth, often!

Rosa Parks and President Barack Obama are two iconic figures who changed the face of history with the understanding that greatness is never given. it must be earned. Each of these icons stands for the “journey of hope” in all of us and is connected through the many challenges we have faced. Their persistence, courage, and optimism have proved that progress continues to be made and we all have an obligation to stand up for what we believe in. – Carolyn L. Mazloomi, founder of Women of Color Quilters Network, in her Journey of Hope: Quilts Inspired by President Barack Obama (Voyageur Press, 2010)

The juxtaposition of these two in space and time is just mind-boggling and incredibly moving.
Thank you, Sen. Rockefeller.

Bin Laden’s Failure: How Islamists and the U.S. Ended His War With the West
In halting the global war on terror and engaging with Islamist political parties, Obama has helped create a world that the terrorist leader would hardly recognize.
Obama’s reorientation of strategy was simply an acknowledgement that there was really only one Islamist group that attacked the United States directly: al-Qaida. As I wrote back during the 2008 campaign, urging then-candidate Obama to abandon the GWOT: “Bush has gradually expanded his definition of the war on terror to include all Islamic ‘extremists’–among them Hezbollah, Hamas, and other radical political groups that have no ties to al-Qaida, ideological or otherwise. In doing so the president has plainly condemned us to a permanent war, for the simple reason that we will never be rid of all the terrorists. It is also a war that we will wage by ourselves, since no other nation agrees on such a broadly defined enemy. As Princeton scholar G. John Ikenberry has written, ‘It is perhaps a paradox–and one that is fitting for the strangeness of our current age–that we will need to end the war against terrorism because we cannot end terrorism.’”

Senor said, the “Bin Laden assassination” !!!! What??
Chuck Todd was surprisingly . . . better. I wish he had pushed back on assassination though.
Dan Senor is so Wrong that even Chuck Todd has to school him. That’s what happens when he’s so waterlogged from carrying too much for the gopropaganda machine.
CORRECTION: Rumsfeld or Rummy for short.

In a contract that NBCUniversal is calling a “groundbreaking multi-platform agreement” Ryan Seacrest, the longtime host of American Idol and E! Entertainment news will become, among other things, a reporter/analyst for NBC News during the 2012 election. The New York Times’ Brian Stelter reports that Seacrest’s new two year deal will make him a “special correspondent” for the Today Show and will include contributions to NBC’s Olympics coverage. Some sort of deal with Seacrest was long expected since he is viewed by many as one of the most versatile and well-liked hosts on television and Mediaite was first to report that NBC talked to Seacrest about hosting the Today Show if Matt Lauer left his perch as co-host.
Who would have thought that the skinny black guy with the funny name from Hawaii is in fact a cold blooded political assassin as evident by the Swiss Bank Account ad.
Okay..I keep getting conflicting reports about PBO’s whereabouts…is he or isn’t he?!?!?
We have Rummey and John Bolton coming out against President Obama, I’m sure the Administration is really upset with this turn of events. Just keep it up, these two are perfect samples of going Back to the Future, Mittens is in trouble and he knows it.
New post everyone:

i support the president’s re-election 100% and usually think the campaign puts together solid ads. this one, however, seems a bit catty and contains what seems like a major non-sequitur to me… failure to disclose something on one’s taxes is about either incompetence or fraud; exporting jobs is about cutthroat capitalism and policies that seek short-term gains over long-term national strength. i just don’t see the point of tagging on the swiss account line quickly at the end. the campaign seems better served, to me, by focusing on the policy of exporting of jobs in one ad, and then ronmey’s personal wealth, tax evasion and lack of transparency in another. just my .02.
