Steve Benen: After three consecutive weeks of discouraging news, today’s report from the Department of Labor on initial unemployment claims pointed to a sharp improvement in the data.
Indeed, the new numbers not only reverse the discouraging trend, they’re back to the level we saw in mid-March, which is near a four-year low.
…. It’s worth emphasizing that week-to-week results can vary widely, and it’s best not to read too much significance into any one report. Still, it’s generally heartening when the numbers are at least pointing in the right direction.

MSNBC: GM posted a profit of $1 billion in the first quarter, beating Wall Street expectations on strong demand in its key North American market.

Odd…no. According to many pundits his wife is his biggest asset. As they say, she humanizes him. He has no charm, character or soul and she supposedly gives him that. That’s what they say….

So when Mitt debates President Obama, I guess Ann will be standing up there by his side to help humanizes him and answer questions for him.
If a Democratic candidate for president had to have his wife with him for every event and interview, insults would rain down on him about mommy’s apron strings and every R pundit would be making unsubtle comments about his manhood. But if Rombot does it they just say it makes him more human. Translation: whatever he does is okay cause he’s Republican so if he needs a wife as a prop we won’t say out loud what we really think, we’ll say its cute.
She’s a crutch for him to lean on and a shield against “tough questions” by reporters. They are both too stupid to realize how emasculating these joint appearances are.
Also think he’s insecure without her. He needs her to hold his hand. And my suspicion is that she is the driving force behind his candicacy (ies). When he got into some trouble after one of his blunders, she said, “Maybe I should do all the talking from now on.”
At some point she cant be there talking for him unless Ann is planning on debating the President.

And, President Carter brokered a peace between Israel and Egypt that has lasted to this day. This would be another of President Carter’s accomplishments that Willard would be too afraid to try. He has already said he’ll defer to Bibi when it comes to U.S./Israel foreign policy, so we know NOT to expect much action on resolving the Israeli/Palestinian issue. He’s still pushing tax breaks for companies that ship jobs overseas,” said the advertisement which will run in the key States of Virginia, Ohio and Iowa.

Well, my manager and I just got told to “fuck off and die” by an irate patron that we’ve banned. So, in honor of the rather jocular mood I’m in, a little Twisted Sister for the congregation.

No, no, although he did come in as well. We’ve had trouble with this patron before. Basically, she hates people and hangs out in the fiction stacks. That’s annoying to begin with, but she eats back there, and makes a mess of things. My manager told her that if we caught her eating there again she’d be kicked out. I and one of the pages caught her yesterday. I kicked her out for the day, and my manager just banned her this afternoon after she snuck back in.
You seriously need a good, long weekend.
I need a good gimlet. Which I think I shall make this evening.

This is the fourth time watching Rock Center and I will watch it again. I am so amazed at all that our POTUS has been able to achieved since taken office.
To think how much more could be done if these repugs would stop fighting the civil war.
