Love my Prez
Love your Prez too – and congrats on #1!
Alright Donnaaaaa!! Do it GURL!!!
Congrats donna!!! :)
Love my PBO, too!!
Oh my goodness…this is HAWT.
Deep breaths Hopefruit, deep breaths
I’m trying..I’m trying..
Woah!! You just ensured me sweet dreams tonight
He kinda looks like Malcolm X with shades here…but nevertheless, HAWT.
I made a t-shirt of this photo and everyone who sees it wants it. :-)
Hi africa. So good to see you here. Missed you. ((((((( Hope life is good to you))))))))))HZ
You are so cute! :-)
They love Stevie.
Their common love for his music brought them together.
In picture number 11 is that FLOTUS standing up cheering for Stevie Wonder?
Stevie’s ALWAYS at the White House! He must have a lifetime pass.
If I were President I would give him a lifetime pass at my WH!!! :)
I know, right?
Wow, 4 way tie @ 10:27pm, but I win because it’s only 7:30 in California!!!!! :D
Clever. On Chips’ behalf, I say scroll up for your prize: A hhhhhot pic of PBO emerging from The Beast, looking oh-so-saxay!!
My exhausted POTUS! Love him so much!
CTCirl, he does look tired, and then to have three fundraiser tomorrow. All of us say a prayer for POTUS please.
Is the fundraiser with George Clooney tomorrow?
Yes. He’ll be in Beverly Hills, CA .
Anniebella and CTGirl, I have my candles burning and Aretha is taking bring it home. Feel peace. Did my prayers and meditations. I just feel a sweet spirit within our space. We are going to be fine, TOD Family. (((((((((((((((((FOWARD)))))))))))))) Nov. 6,2012 with victory.
That 7th pic from the top nearly made me jump out my chair! It’s scary how stressed our Prez looks.
I don’t think he looks stressed. He seems to have lost weight and I think it shows in his face. Once he starts campaigning even more, I think he will pick up weight again – eating all the junk food on the road :)
I think this issue was on his shoulders for a long time in his heart he knew this is the right time to
show the world that He cares about people, This is a human right and civil rights issue. I still remember
his speech on race on 2008 it made me cry, PBO has to be one of the greates leaders of all times.
Mel, you hit the nail on the head. He remembered that as well as he made the decision to speak those words today, I am sure. That is another reason why we love our POTUS so much. HZ
I think his rides on Air Force One relax him. He always comes off that plane with a spring in his step. Hopefully it is a quiet, relaxing, restful place for him. If he didn’t look stressed after this past week, he would be a robot, and he is definitely not. I bet tonight was fun and relaxing too. He loves music.
Remember, music soothes his heart and mind. He had the opportunity to relax a little and enjoy one of the greatest gifts to man, “Music.”HZ
Ah, Chips. I can’t win for losing. I’m always slow on the uptake. :(
“Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgement that something else is more important than fear.” I’d say that this quote sums up President Obama’s actions today.
The Right is going to throw the kitchen and bathroom sinks at our President over the stance he took today.
Help him remain well armed to fight back with a small donation tonight to his re-election.
Ok everyone, these next few days will be the tell, as everyone and their mother does polling. I’m not ashamed to say that I’m more than a bit nervous.
Take a few deep breaths, sip some nice wine. The ride may be a little bumpy, but it’s gonna be alright.
Yep. All we can do is buckle up.
I fully expect there will be increased numbers of GOP voters in the polls to further enhance the “tightness” of the issue.
LL, I am also, but it is a sweet nerve pant. I just walked down to get a small glass of wine, and I felt a “good nerve panting.” but I ended it with, “But he is going to be just fine, right Divine Space Holder of our Gentle Spirits.” I truly feel that. LL. HZ
The inimitable vocals of Dionne Warwick and the musical stylings of composer, pianist and conductor, Burt Bacharach – “What the world needs now” & “Alfie” (the audio quality could be better, but wow!! what a combo!!
My favorite is the theme to The Valley of the Dolls.
Snark is BACK!
F**k that gay shit, the historic news is that Obama is campaigning AGAIN tomorrow. THREE fundraisers, bringing total to to 36,372 in last wk— Snark Knoller (@SnarkKnoller) May 10, 2012
tsk tsk, Snark is feeling the pressure.
Wow that’s weird. We posted the exact same comment w/ the exact same tweet.
LOL! Isn’t it? Geez – at some point TODers start to think and behave alike :)
Snark is back!
Guess which is the photo of the day?
Sound quality MUCH better. They were so young. This was done in 2000. Wow, STILL PERFECT TOGETHER!!!

That was wonderful. Thank you Isonprize!
I love Dionne…have not seen her since Whitney’s funeral.
America made history today..that is how the News Network are reporting President Obama support of SSM here in Canada. Chipsticks and BWD thank you for all you do..
P.s so TOD don’t let the news pundit rob you of such an historic moment this your moment too.
Thanks Andy for your kind and encouraging words. I’m glad Canada is able to share in our joyous moment.
Thank you Andy46. I thank Chips and BWD also. I am so grateful because of all of the joy both of them have brought to so many of our lives. Thank you, thank you again, and again.
We just have to find a way to bring his moments like this into our space and embrace the hope that these historical and right moments are bringing to so many generations to come. I am (((((((((((((((((((((Hugging the moments we shared with him today))))))))))))))))))))))HZ
Thank you, Mr. President and our beautiful First Family. ((((((((((((((( Loving Angels of Wisdom Surrounding you now)))))))))))))))HZ
LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL
By Charles M. Blow
It is a natural impulse of all people to live freely in their own truth. President Obama yesterday lent his voice to affirming the basic humanity of gay and lesbian communities.
Standing up for what one truly believes is one of the greatest things a person can do. And, in the end, I believe that most Americans respect the courage of conviction and the pursuit of fairness, even if they have not come to accept same-sex marriage or even homosexuality.
Courage in politics isn’t always plentiful, and justice in the world isn’t always swift. Could Obama have moved more quickly? Maybe. But the important thing to remember is that he did move.
LOD has today’s clip from Shep Smith’s (yes, dude from Fox News) in tonight’s rewrite…
Smith says the President is on the right side of history. I’m sometimes amazed this guy still keeps his job on that Faux News Network. He must have some serious dirt on somebody over there.
LOL, Dudette.. When I saw your comment I waiting with anticipation to see what Shep was going to say about PBO’s interview today.. I have no idea how he stays on at fox when he’s 180 degrees from them on some interesting issues.
It’s a mystery. Dude sticks out like a sore thumb.
Is Shep gay? he is wishy washy I do not trust any body at FOX.
I'm so looking forward to Biden talking about pot. Smoke that jon stewart and stephen colbear.— (@amk4obama) May 10, 2012
How many shockwaves can we take in one week?
I don’t want this day to end. I feel Great, feels like a dream. History was made by President Obama. Yes we can. Yes we did. Yes we will in Nov. Obama/Biden 2012.
Thank you President Barack Obama. THANK YOU BARACK. Thank you for ALL you do Chipsticks. Thank you BWD. Thank you Tally for your great piece and all your other great pieces that I always agree with. THANK YOU TOD FAMILY.
OUR COUNTRY IS GREAT. But it’s never been easy and it’s usually not fast.
Chips, people might enjoy this picture from The Reid Report today:
I know I did..thanks, mary!

While small men squabble abt ways to deny liberty, great men seek ways to grant it. #Obama #ssm
Ladyhawke, he had several great tweets, and this was one, but I did not know how to bring it over. Great ones! Thanks for posting this one.HZ
I’m very pleased to see that Old Orange seems to be very supportive of our President’s decision – with very little, if any griping about “too little, too late” or “throwing us a bone” kind of talk and much more “Thank you Mr. President!” kind of talk.
I’m heartened, indeed.
You mean no one has said but he didn’t fight for the “public option” yet?
That monkey will never get off their collective shoulders.
LOL! And I searched for “public option” comments but couldn’t find any!
Ive been very pleased. There is some whining but it gets shut down immediately. There is some concern but damn, I’m concerned some. Most important is the wave of supporr. It is heartening indeed.
I love this Bacharach medley by The Carpenters
I love the Ed Show’s caption for the segment PBO’s news today — “It Got Better”. Nice!! :-)
Cyndi Lauper on The Ed Show! Yay! Love her!!!
Cyndi Lauper said gay people pay taxes jus like streigh people and they should be able to be protected
15 million dollar Day Thursday.
I bet with, today’s announcement, it was a 5 million dollar day.
Total between 2 days=20 million Quid!
And Lt. Dan Choi? Needs a diaper change again or……does anyone know?
Fuck. Fuck Don Choi I dislike the dude with a passion, just to her his name makes me puke.
Apparently, Dan Choi celebrated the announcement earlier today. We at TOD gave it the appropriate reverence (Not!)

Yep, looks like that graphic needs some updating to add May 9, 2012.
Log Cabin Republicans stood up for a party that despises them today; which vows to send them back into the shadows and has sponsored laws in other countries that put people to death for being gay.
I wonder if those single issue Democrats will stop and consider that Log Cabin Republicans are supporting a candidate despite this issue, while they are considering abandoning the President because of this issue.
Obama Lets Go Of Fear
By Andrew Sullivan
I do not know how orchestrated this was; and I do not know how calculated it is. What I know is that, absorbing the news, I was uncharacteristically at a loss for words for a while, didn’t know what to write, and, like many Dish readers, there are tears in my eyes.
Today Obama did more than make a logical step. He let go of fear. He is clearly prepared to let the political chips fall as they may. That’s why we elected him. That’s the change we believed in. The contrast with a candidate who wants to abolish all rights for gay couples by amending the federal constitution, and who has donated to organizations that seek to “cure” gays, who bowed to pressure from bigots who demanded the head of a spokesman on foreign policy solely because he was gay: how much starker can it get?
My view politically is that this will help Obama. He will be looking to the future generations as his opponent panders to the past. The clearer the choice this year the likelier his victory. And after the darkness of last night, this feels like a widening dawn.
Come on no picture of FLOTUS, why? :(
This is special.
People write on a thank you card for President Barack Obama in San Francisco, California May 9, 2012.
If you're watching CNN, Obama just said he supports same-sex marriage. If you're watching FOX, he just made it mandatory.— John Fugelsang (@JohnFugelsang) May 10, 2012
Love Bacharach. His contribution to 20th century pop music is undeniable. Has anyone here ever heard the collaboration/covers album he did with Ronald Isley some years ago? If not, do yourself a favor and find it!
On an unrelated note (well, it is music-related), here’s another random singing Obama clip, this one from the last presidential campaign. En Espanol:
JamilaJP, thank you, thank you, thank you! I had no idea! Wow, what a different but fantastic interpretation. Burt Bacharach and Ron Isley. I would have never put those two together, and yet, how cool was that????
I just heard Roland Martin say that the Black ministers may be against this and John Kerry in 04 and polls in the next few Days and blah blah blah.
What a joke! Gee, was Eugene Robinson whispering in his Ear, at the time?
jovie141, the black ministers could very well disagree with the President, but that doesn’t mean they won’t support him. I do not support gay marriage, but I plan to work my butt off to get him re-elected President Obama..
You are a profile is courage anniebella. I was wondering if I have a kindred spirit on this board. Thank you for giving one. I do not support homosexual marriage either and President Obama affirmation give me pause. It took political courage for him to come out with his personal views, I’m glad however that he still realizes its a State issue. I hope this also puts to rest changing the Democratic Party’s plank.
I hope people know that I do not dislike gay people, I want them to be treated fair. I do support civil unions. But I do admire what the President did today, he said what he believes, and I am just saying what I believe. The President and I disagree on this issue, but I dare anyone to get in my face and try to trash my President. He still has my support 100%.
Thank you again. I’m still a little miffed at President Obama affirmation and very concerned about November 6. I really wish President Obama would have made a statement about the Dream Act, than this one. But it is what it is.
Lorraine, it’s okay to be concern, I am too, but please keep the faith. This a good darn man we have in that White House. And we must fight to re-elect him.
This exchange between Lorraine and Anniebella is important, because it’s going on all around the country. People will disagree with this move by President Obama, but many will refuse to abandon the President because of a disagreement. It’s not important to be in lockstep. It is important to understand that this President stands true to himself and his values, and strives to do the right thing. He’s working hard for this country and we all deserve a second term of this amazing man to move this country (and world) forward. I’m glad you and Lorraine felt you could express yourselves here. We need all the supporters we can get! :)
Thank you theo67 for what you said. The fact is we don’t have to agree on everything, and I’m glad I can come here and voice my opinion without someone ripping into me for that opinion. The most important thing for people to know is this President still has my support. And if anyone comes to me talking about this same sex marriage issue, I will explain to them the best I know how about how I feel.I have talk to several family members , some agree with the President and some didn’t, but they have told me that he still has their vote. The right will talk about what the Bible says, homosexuality is a sin, but the Bible says adultery is a sin too.
All legal marriage is a civil union. Churches will not be forced to perform marriages although I expect the right wing to push this lie. I assume the campaign is ready for this.
One question for the Black ministers do they want the tea/Romney to be in control? have’nt they
seen the the GOP DO not give a SHIT about Blacks Latinos. poor people, seniors women. how
stupid is that if they Do not VOTE for THIS man then they deserve whay they got SORRY TOD people,
Martin Roland does not give a shit about his own comunity shame on this M@#$#r Fucker.
Anniebella and Lorraine, thank you. I just came in and I agree totally with both of you. I have been struggling with this all day. And I must say that I will continue to work even harder and fast and pray for this President and his family to get him re-elected.
I have friends and family members who are gay and I love them dearly. It has nothing to do with me evolving , it is my personal belief and my faith. I respect the President’s personal opinion and I know this must have weighed heavily upon his heart. I thank God that he and the First Lady are on one accord with his statement today.
He never had to prove himself to me and never will. I know his heart is sincere towards God ,that is enough for me. No other President has been held to such high standards, criticized, slandered, wait-and-see before I donate attitude as this man. If you voted in 2008 and believed in change then, the question is why would YOU change inspite of all the good things this man has done? That goes for all communities the Republicans have ignored for decades.
There are people I have spoken to tonight who voted in 2008 for POB who say they will not after tonight. I was very discouraged. I have my work cut out for me. An elderly AA woman must have sense the strain on my face and she encouraged me with just these simple words:
“God Is In Control.”
Mel, I hope that answers your question, also.
Not Mitt, Not POB. God is in control. That is the Peace beyond all understanding that will get me through November.
Those of you who believe in the power of prayer……you know what to do.
Sweet Sleep, everyone.
LDS, so these people are satisfied with Mitt Romney and the Republicans being in control. Tell these people that President Obama has only voice his opinion, but look at all the things the radical Republicans all over this country have done and will continue to do if given a chance. Who pass the voter ID laws, trying to suppress our rights to vote, who pass the “stand your ground” bills, who has pass these crazy abortion bills, who want to take women rights away, even their right to choose to make their own decision about their body, who want to destroy Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, who want to take from the poor and give to the rich, cut programs that help the poor and middle class, but give more tax cuts to the rich. Who don’t give a dam if people have healthcare, these radical Republicans sick and hateful plans to take our rights away, to take us back to the fifties or beyond.
I am with you as well anniebella. Unlike you though I still haven’t pulled through yet. I am still on pause. You are right that there are a lot of others who are feeling the same way and I have the emails and saw the facebook posts to prove it. This is real so folks will need to step up to garner additional votes to supplement the ones that PO may possibly have lost.
They won’t vote for Romney but . . . there is reason for concern.
mebbe when roland loses that stupid ascot, he may gain some respect.
Co-sign. Talk about Thurston Howell-wannabes.
OMG! I guess it’s because of my age (I’ll blame it on that) but it just fries me when people don’t know a slimy bastard when they see one. I on the other hand can see one coming a mile away…!
International Mothers Hall of Fame Named 2012 International Mothers of the Year
Dang! I got all excited about this until I saw these people put Ann Romney in the same category with FLOTUS. Awww, hell naw!!
The International Mothers Hall of Fame Names Michelle Obama, Ann Romney, Holly Robinson-Peete, Lisa Belkin, Stephanie Decker, Summer Sanders, Reese Witherspoon, Meredith Olafson, Victoria Beckham, and Betty DeGeneres 2012 Mothers of the Year Award Winners
Waterford Crystal is pleased to join The International Mothers Hall of Fame (IMHOF) to honor the 2012 International Mothers of the Year recipients that will include: Michelle Obama, Ann Romney, Holly Robinson-Peete, Lisa Belkin, Stephanie Decker, Summer Sanders, Reese Witherspoon, Meredith Olafson, Victoria Beckham, and Betty DeGeneres.
These ten women chosen by the International Mothers Hall of Fame as the “2012 International Mothers of the Year” will each receive a Waterford Fleurology Rose, a stunning hand-crafted crystal flower to commemorate the award.
“We are thrilled to partner with Waterford to honor our Hall of Fame inductees,” says IMHOF Executive Director Mitch Mortimer. “The Waterford brand is synonymous with tradition, prestige, and timeless elegance and beauty, traits we feel embody the spirit of each of the deserving women we’ve recognized for their integral roles as mothers as well as for the significant contributions their tireless efforts make to the greater good of society.”
I swear, Ann Romney carries on like she’s got a 6th grader at home. Her “baby” is 32!! She is no longer raising children! Geez!
This award immediately loses credibility by putting this Romney woman in this category with First Lady Michelle Obama.
What has Ann Romney done?
She’s the spouse of the Republican guy running for President. So what has she done? Just asking the question.

I’m such an addict. Someone stop me… help! :-)
My gift to you…
Okay, last one:
Fuck that, this is the last one — amazing 3-D nail art:
He’s been saying this all along….
WhAT?? A “pro-choice Republican” (in THIS Congress!) who breaks GOP ranks on the subject of funding Planned Parenthood?
s another state has banned Planned Parenthood funding, Rep. Robert Dold (R-IL) introduced a bill to protect federal funds to Planned Parenthood. Dold, one of the few pro-choice Republicans in Congress, said today that he was pushing for the bill because of the importance of Title X family planning funds for women’s health:
We have seen several attempts to block funds and exclude health care providers from participating in the Title X program simply because they separately offer services beyond the scope of Title X. We should not discriminate against hospitals and organizations that provide access to basic, preventative, and in some cases life-saving services for so many underprivileged women through Title X.
Dold said he wants to “bring both sides together” in support of Planned Parenthood and health care for women, but it’s unclear how much support he will get. Rep. Cliff Stearns (R-FL), Energy and Commerce Oversight subcommittee chairman who launched an investigation into Planned Parenthood, told Politico that he did not understand why Dold’s bill was necessary because “there’s no discrimination against Planned Parenthood.”
Good for Dold I guess but be warned against Republican snakes. He has Mark Kirk’s old seat and he learned from the master how to pander to socially liberal wealthy constituents who don’t want their taxes raised. I don’t trust him.
Good day today. Time for me to retire to the regeneration chamber. Sweet dreams everyone.
Peace and love!! :-P
I’ve been thinking about your concerns. I am a minister, and I know this is difficult for many Christians.
But I do not think President Obama was justifying his belief about marriage, per se, according to biblical mandate.
I think he was talking about basic rights under the law. The constitution provides that every citizen has certain inalienable rights. What I heard him saying is that under law he does not feel it right to give that right to some and not to others. “That’s where the distinction is.”
Jesus would not let the woman caught in adultery be stoned, even though it was scriptural law. Why? Because which of them had not sinned.
Do unto others….
For so long we have been taught that homosexuality is a sin, but adultery is a sin, and greed is a sin, and pride is a sin….So if homosexuality is a sin and should be denied equal rights, then If I am an adulteress or controlled by greed, am I somehow a better sinner than the homosexual?
He was speaking as CIC. He must stand up for all the people. His hope would have been that civil unions would have been enough to protect and provide for the people involved. He did not advocate for churches to marry same-sex couples; he advocated government allowing because the constitution dictates that every person should have equal protection under the law.
He did what a serious, thoughtful leader should do: He stood up for all the people. Do unto others.
All I know is that what President Obama did today was one courageous act. I could never have called up that kind of courage.
What I believe is that he stood for people who have no rights, no recourse if things go wrong. He did not run away from them to protect his presidency.
If it costs him the presidency, it won’t cost him his soul. And if I ever needed a friend to have my back, I’d want it to be Baracjk Hussein Obama.
Thank you Lorraine. God Is In Control.
All is well.
Eveingeorgia: Thank you so much for your comments. I am lying here trying to calm much physical pain from my medical conditions while still in a calm and beautiful space for President Obama. I felt the same as he spoke, and I also came away with the same thoughts in my mind and in my soul as you. I am crying tears of peace, joy, and relief for millions and for our President tonight.
He gave so many another opportunity to trust in his leadership, his compassion, his empathy, his fearless attitude that leads him to carry out these actions such as he did today. I know our President weighed everything before he finally personally came to his decision. But he used weights of pure diginity for others, fair scales of justice for others, humbleless for the service of others to him as CIC, and he showed us a leader with a spine that carries the very fluids of life of love, happiness, liberty, and justice for all people. I heard that in his voice and saw it on his face.
If only two people vote for him on Nov. 6, 2012, his soul will be fine, That is who POB is. This is a man of true core values. It may take him time on certain issues, and it should, but he will stop and take that time, and then he will always come out and give you the truth. We cannot erase POB’s core. He will carry that to his grave with grace. I am grateful for his courage. I am thankful to be alive each day to see the blessings that come my way and that come to seniors, children, and families who have just waited so long to hear a leader of a country speak truth to and for them to those precious gifts of our Constitution that are so important in their lives as well. ( And by the way , our precious brothers and sisters do not want to always hear and see recitations from this Constitution or staged reading of it on the House floor; but they want to be able to enjoy living those words with dignity in their lives. POB today, did what great leaders do.
I am so grateful for your comments tonight. I am grateful for our space here and our Chips who keeps us focus, for the many gifted writers here, and for the intellect and courage and respect that we must continue to share with each other. That was one of many points that I shared with the Chicago office. They see us, they hear us, and they read us. Let us hear our POTUS, support him, trust him, and move FORWARD with him. So thank you Eveingeorgia so much for this word tonight/this morning.HZ
“But I do not think President Obama was justifying his belief about marriage, per se, according to biblical mandate.
I think he was talking about basic rights under the law. ”
Thank you for this eveingeorgia. That was at the core of my struggle. The bible does say “render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar and everything unto God the things that are God”. To me that clearly says separation of Church and State. I have never questioned the fact that discrimination under the law was wrong. Period.
Yesterday after his announcement the lines got blurred. Your post is critical and I will share it with family, friends and Church members with a slight edit. I will remove the point about homosexuality against adultery etc. Sin is Sin. So I don’t think most Christians rank one type against the other so that was not a factor on this one.
Everything else helped me.
Alright. I AM IN!
