5:15 ET The President delivers remarks at a campaign event at the Paramount Theater, Seattle
CNN live streaming
CBS live streaming
I’m confused about the time of this, the WH site says 5:15 ET, but other places say 6:0, and the CBS link says 6:15 :???:
So, this might be a very early heads up.
Any more links?
Thanks pinkbunny and congrats on #2!
Winner!!! I know, I regularly post this pic …. but it can never be posted enough ;-)
Now you’re talkin’
You’re right Chipsticks – Never enough. Keep ‘em coming babe!
Folks tune in to Chris Matthews on Hardball now. he and Barney Frank are eating bigot Tony Perkins live. Wow!
Give us a blow by blow for those of us at work on the Left Coast!
Yes, they are. I am wanting to “fist pump”. Chris and Barney together are skewering Perkins. At one point, Perkins was denying something he said and made the comment he wished they had replay and low and behold, the replay appeared. :) :) :)
“Wish they had replay”??? It’s a fucking TV show! Of course they have replay, you turd!
Sometimes it’s not good to read a post upthread. I thought you were calling tnmtngirl a turd, and I was going to step in. Ha!
Tony Perkins is one of those phony holy roller.

Actually, Snark asking for a “source” is even more brilliant.
He’s exceedingly snarky today BWD
He is. He’s also pissed of. he’s having a reall bad day.

OMG, I almost choked on a piece of candy when I read that. Too funny.
Ok, it’s that famed “3 am” thingy here. Gunnite folks.
Had a great day of mittbot bootathon and that lady in yellows was icing on the cake, as maddow sez.
Perfect, even though I have no idea what your reference is!
have a good night amk~
Night amk. Sleep tight. Don’t let Willard bite.
Good night! ;-)
In 1965 George W. Bush chastised classmates for calling someone queer. In 1965 @MittRomney led an assault on a classmate presumed to be gay— Brad Woodhouse (@woodhouseb) May 10, 2012
Old Brad isn’t giving up! Yes!
So Rt’D. I love Brad. As Communication Director for the DNC, he’s fantastic!
RT’d him and added this …
@woodhouseb FOCUS: @MittRomney committed ASSAULT & BATTERY on John Lauber. He should have been indicted & prosecuted. Period. #BULLYMitt— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) May 10, 2012
Others have been so notified, as well.
I need to wash my brain with bleach. I just flashed on the preferability of Bush being drafted at the convention
I’m getting soooooo excited.
You see, I’ve been chosen as one of the OFA volunteers to stand along the motorcade route and wave as the President goes by.
It’s 3 hours away and I’m too excited to sit still !!!!!!!
:) :) :) :) :) Jealous….thrilled for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GGail – At first I thought you won the thingie with George Clooney, but this is great news, too! Please yell out that Jackie from Illinois said hi!
Ditto Jackie from PA.
All of us!
Just yell cookemom, he’ll no what it means.
Still the brat? Good!
You’ll have to be monitoring some of the upcoming events for us, from behind the curtain, like on OFA, once again!
And Jackie from Arizona says hi too!
We should all just go there with a big sign! (Be still, my heart.)
Slip him my phone number.
For a campaign consultation, of course.
Of course. Hadn’t thought of that. Mine, too.
Wow!! What an honor! :-)
I once was accidentally fortunate to see the motorcade pass by in LA, and I was screaming & jumping up and down :-)
I’m doing that already and I’m not even in Studio City – hahahahaha!!!!!!
I didn’t even try for the lunch thingy – too scurred that I would up-chuck in front of them both.
Yes, it is one of those things that you see on TV and ask yourself…..how did they get to do that? Well, now I know – volunteer, volunteer, volunteer!
GGail – that’s a terrific opportunity and I can just imagine how thrilled you must be! Please let us know how it went :)
Oh GGail how wonderful for you.. wave for all of us please… I’ve still yet to see him and really hope I get to someday. Have FUN :)
Ok, you guys are not calming me down!
you’ll be calm in 3 hours ;) put your Obama cool on.
Blow him a big kiss from all of us!!
If I don’t faint before my hand can wave.
What if he has the window down and I get to see his face?!!???!!!!!!!!
What?! I missed this! Are you waiting for the motorcade GGail?!
YES Chipsticks!!!! I’ve been chosen to be one of the volunteers to stand and wave as the motorcade drives by!!!!!
Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooot, fantastic GGail!!!! Give me a VERY large wave for us!
And I’m gonna wear my t-shirt with POTUS getting out of the Beast wearing his Ray-bans. Maybe I can make a sign that says “THE OBAMA DIARY LOVES YOU”
Girl, if he has the window down, jump in….
Sheesh Cookemom, don’t encourage her
Oh…..pleeze don’t temp me.
Well, folks…..I’m off…..see you on TV!!!!!
SEATTLE (Reuters) – President Barack Obama said on Thursday that Europe was still in a difficult place economically in part because it did not take some of the steps the United States did.
Addressing about 70 people at a fundraiser in Seattle, Obama said Europe’s troubles were among the factors that could affect U.S. growth, also mentioning high gasoline prices as a potential economic drag.
“We’ve still got headwinds. Europe is still … in a difficult state, partly because they didn’t take some of the decisive steps that we took early on in this recession,” Obama said at the event, which was held in a private home.
“Gas prices are still pinching a lot of folks. The housing market is still very weak across the country. But the good news is that we have weathered the storm,” he said.
Hi everyone. It feels good to be home from school after 5 months in DC. :D
@cookemom – your daughter emailed me, the t-shirt site looks fantastic!
thanks CK, glad you made it home ok.
On the first day of a two-day West Coast swing, President Obama will attend fundraisers expected to generate more than $17 million for his campaign.
The first Seattle event will bring in roughly $1.25 million, and the second $1.8 million. In Los Angeles, the $40,000 per head fundraiser at George Clooney’s house is expected to bring in another $6 million. That’s in addition to the millions generated by a campaign raffle, which will bring the total for the Clooney event over $14 million. From a campaign official, according to a pool report:
“President Obama will attend two fundraisers in Seattle, WA. In the afternoon, he will attend a fundraising brunch with 70 supporters at a private residence. Tickets for this event cost $17,900 per person. Later, he will deliver remarks at a fundraising reception with 1,800 people at the Paramount Theater that will feature a musical performance by Dave Matthews. Tickets for this event start at $1,000 per person.
Finally, Thursday evening, the President will travel to Los Angeles to attend a fundraising dinner at the home of actor George Clooney. There will be 150 supporters at this event, including grassroots supporters Beth Topinka and Karen Blutcher, who were selected to attend the event after donating online for the Dinner with Barack and Clooney contest. Beth is a science teacher from Manalapan, New Jersey and Karen is a communications coordinator for a local utility company from St. Augustine, Florida. Their husbands also attended the dinner. Tickets for the dinner cost $40,000 per person.”
I’ll bet Beth Topinka and Karen Blutcher are really sweating it about their clothes for the event with PBO and Clooney. I can”t imagine how you would dress to fit in with a $40,000 a plate Hollywood dinner catered by Wolfgang Puck. Plus shoes, handbag, hair, nails. I’m sure everyone will be super nice to them, but I would be so nervous I’d probably spill Wolfgang’s soup all over my new dress.
They have hugh tents set up on Clooney’s tennis court. I bet it’s beautiful on the grounds and inside his home. I can’t wait to get close
Cranbrook has opened a separate site to answer media questions about its famous student:
Now Robney will be searching for alumni and paying them to say something nice about him.
Hey, at least it’ll be a couple jobs he’s created.
Ha! Good one! :-)
Cranbrook. It sounds like something from a Dickens novel
Looks like it, too.
Seattle is definitely Obama country. Just like Portland, Oregon where the President had a record 85,000 at a speech on the waterfront in 2008.
I remember those images! Wow.
Everywhere is Obama country don’t forget the largest attended U.S. political rally was done in Missouri
My goddaughter was there. I still have the pictures she sent me from her camera phone.
Florida and NJ women win date with the President and clooney-
That’s why I couldn’t participate in these lotteries – because if I won I would make such a huge fool of myself that it would be the talk of the town for decades to come!!
Me neither hf, I’d forget everything my mama ever taught me, become a drooling idjit, and bring disgrace and dishonor to the family name. don’t get me wrong though, I’d have a blast doing it. I’d just feel sorry for whoever had to clean up after me.
I know, really. I have tried participated in all of these lotteries multiple times and never even come close.
ZOMG. A date with two of the hottest men in the U.S.
I hope they’ll be ok all night. I’d be a wreck.
I think if I won Clooney AND President Obama would take restraining orders out on me the day after.
Granted I’m in a very blue state, but everywhere I go today people are talking about PBO with a huge smile. It goes from “It’s about time” to “he had to wait until now”, but people are just so proud of him. The one word that repeats all the time: Balls. Yep.
That’s why I have no fear that America will have our President’s back come November 2012.
that is good to hear~ I love that kind of news because being in a red state I have very few people to share my appreciation of his actions .
Even though voters may not agree about SSM I think they appreciate the vast difference between President Obama and Mitt Romney: one is a leader, courageous, committed to fairness and a fighter for the middle class whereas Romney is that smarmy, nasty, rich brat who will say anything to win some votes and has a core meanness. In the end I believe voters will go for decency.
My father, rest his soul, had a saying for someone strong and fearless. “Balls of a brass monkey.” I don’t even know where that came from.
Are there always this many gays in Seattle? Seem to be about 76,000 of them outside the Paramount, all chanting 'four more years'. F**k.— Snark Knoller (@SnarkKnoller) May 10, 2012
Snark is pizzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzed!
Poor, poor, Snarky Snark. :( The progressive shit you have to put up with in your quest for the truth! You deserve a pulitzer. You are a true patriot.
Snark Knoller: salt of the earth, man’s man, defender of the faith, good egg.
Amen. Lord love him.
That particular Snark Knoller Tweet is pretty funny!
‘Him’ … hmmmmm, whatever caused you to think the golden snark is a guy … the hat maybe ;)
Yes, there are!
Lawd, I been on the last thread just a chatting away. I saw Chips ‘very early heads up’, but I thought it meant to get ready for an announcement that PBO was getting ready to speak. Sheeze, time for some serious lessons on how to navigate this site.
“Lawd, I been on the last thread just a chatting away.”

You poor thing Cookemom, welcome back!
I did the same thing.
“I do not favor civil unions if they’re identical to marriage other than by name.”
Maybe I’m slow, but WTF does this mean?
He means if they offer the exact benefits and rights under the constitution as marriage, but are different in name only, then he’s NOT supportive of them.
He’s only supportive of them if the constitution recognizes them as something legally different than heterosexual marriage.
Ohhhhh. Thanks HF.
IOW, he’s for civil unions as long as they reinforce that gay people are icky.
Make a symbolic commitment but have no visitation or decision rights in a hospital or put the child that you love on your health insurance. It is heartless beyond words.
The entire Republican party is nothing but sociopaths. It’s Nazi Grrmany in its pathology. Terrifying.
I asked the same thing yesterday.
It means Willard is an idiot.
I thought PBO’s event was supposed to begin at 6:15PM ET.
Everywhere I look gives a different time, UT. :???:
They’re trying to confuse us!
It’s actually starting to get kinda weird. The WH always has their Ts crossed but the last couple of days things have really been out of sync. Hope everything is OK behind the scenes.
POTUS on @CNN now.
I was thinking the same thing. I’m sure Team Obama has done its homework concerning Mitt. It all seems too well orchestrated. PBO’s courageous stand concerning gay marriage and Mitt’s homophobic bullying past (and present day inability to own up to it) give voters a clear look at the character of the candidates. Polls have consistently shown that the American public likes leaders who are willing to stand up for what they believe, even when not personally agreeing with that leader’s stand (this was the case during GWB’s presidency, for example). PBO voiced his personal view regarding same sex marriage, while conceding that it is an issue for the states to resolve. His words seems to have united and galvanized PBO’s base (although I still don’t understand how any could view his record as anything other than “gay friendly”). His announcement also coincides with a big Hollywood fundraiser and will no doubt lead to a HUGE increase in donations. PBO is not a reckless politician or leader. Lawrence O’Donnell said last night that there are only 3 states left that have not resolved the gay marriage issue (Rove and GOP have already “milked that cow” on a state level). This will prevent the GOP from duplicating the North Carolina ballot initiatives in other states as I feared earlier on. Mitt is going to overreact and push for a Constituional Amendment, but that will alienate Independents.. Frankly, I am glad to be having this discussion in May as opposed to having it in September or October. Time will tell how things will play out, but I have learned to never doubt PBO’s political instincts or courage.
Except that WA is one of those States…they are trying to get one of those amend the constitution things put on our ballot for November. Sucks.
Didn’t NC Gov. Perdue say that NC already had a law on the books that governed this? When these issues are brought up, it often is a duplication of standing law and is intended to get activists out to turn out and vote for them. Seems like it has been overused in the past though.
Mitt is not used to being on the receiving end of the same attacks that he leveled on his primary opponents. Really, he hasn’t been on offense since Santorum left the race. PBO and company will make sure it stays that way. Mitt will soon be regulated to defending his choice of paint color in one of his mansions.
I love it when he’s rattled and apparently he’s rattled quite easily.
He does rattles easily. PBO can make him say some very nasty things during the debates. He’ll destroy him.
rattling easy, seems to be a bug going around
It’s the rocks in his head.
that’s why he’ll only go on FOX. Even then, he can get testy. The Sunday show TV hosts should close every week with, “We’ve invited Mitt Romney on the show, but have not been granted an interview with him. Our invitation remains open should he want to come on our show”. They need to smoke him out. By then they won’t even have to ask him a question. He’ll implode under the hot lights.
He can run, but he can’t hide. He’s gotta show his face sometime elsewhere than Fox or he’s really gonna get his hat brought to him.
Cookemom…. that was funny.
Now we know. This is what the Right is afraid of.
Santorum head is exploding…..hahahahahahaha.
Hi Chips & TODville! I is home!
And PBO better not have made any more heart-hugging announcements today without me being around. I’m still grinning at his latest home run while his adversaries are still trying to figure out what THEY should be doing.  I’m going to wander through the threads and take a peek at Twitter. Being away so much makes me feel bewildered almost all the time, except that it’s a happy bewilderment and I am greeted by the ‘magic’ in the air as soon as I open the gate into TODville. ;)
http://edition.cnn.com/video/flashLive/live.html?stream=4 Hes ON!
I hope someone at the WH looks into this idea of filing a supplemental brief on ACA:
I had read that once oral arguments are over the only briefs allowed must be requested by the court. It’s why oral arguments are important and our guy sucked. Now the issue may be covered in previous briefs. We just don’t know.
Are you guys watching Politics Nation?
Yes, I am. Drip, drip, drip. Big leagues now, Mitt.
What’s the drip, drip, drip??? Do tell.
Just the pretty complete story about his “prank.” Included what he did to a teacher who was nearly blind–the “tricks” he played on the teacher. The man is both evil and sick.
Thanks, tnmtngirl. He’s one sick dude. Even before I knew of the particulars of his past, I have always viewed him as weird and creepy. He’s just off.
I predict the gender gap widening.
Ok, I’m starting to get peeved at you non-Left Coasters! What’s Rev Al saying??
You’re missing out LL. Rev Al is on fire. He’s tackling the Romney gay assault issue. He has David Corn on the show and Professor Cynthia Tucker. David Corn said that Romney was disingenuous for calling what he did “a prank” Corn said what Romney did was an assault. He assaulted another human being in a vile manner.
Professor Tucker said that time after time Romney has shown that he is morally bankrupt. That this isn’t the first display of his meanness and cruelty. He also taunted another student who was gay, called him names and a did a host of other spiteful things to him which he labeled “pranks.”
They’re going hard against Romney. Rev is raking him over the coals for his non-apology and excoriating him for saying he doesn’t remember the incident. Asking how he can “apologize” for something he doesn’t seem to remember. He’s also calling him out for his lie that homophobia wasn’t an issue in the 1960s.
Now you owe me big for filling you in; you poor Left-Coaster. :D
p.s They also talked about the cruel tricks Romney played on a nearly blind teacher. Slamming the door so the door could hit the teacher, tripping him…etc.
Romney is sick. He’s a sick animal.
He would’ve done quite well as minor nobility in the middle ages, oppressing the peasants.
Come to my viewing party for the CL final. We’ll have cocktails and food ready!
Rev also had competing black ministers. Ends up the minister opposed to same sex marriage making a big deal about not supporting PBO didn’t support him in 2008 either. So who the hell cares?
I have it on in the background, listening with one ear, typing with one hand, eating with the other, and talking on the phone. No wonder I can’t get anything done. Never have been a proponent of multi-tasking, too many moving parts.
Yes I am. Rev Al is great. David Corn was 100% right when he said that Romney was disingenuous for calling what he did “a prank” Corn said what Romney did was an assault. He assaulted another human being in a vile manner.
The story I read quotes one of the boys that was involved. He is now a lawyer and he flat out called it an assault.
Sarah Jones at PoliticusUSA has dead on .. “Romney, the Vicious Bully, who Never Grew Up.”
Obama now bragging about success of auto industry, crowd shout "Mitt, Mitt, Mitt". Credit where it's due.— Snark Knoller (@SnarkKnoller) May 10, 2012
oh well he’s already made me cry.. when talking about how we the people made business successful.. how it is we the people’s investments, hard work, etc.
I can see the Paramount from the deck of this apartment I work in.. Not much activity, but the Times said 3:00, and departure to CA in the afternoon. Have not seen any sign of the motorcade, but cannot spend the whole time out in the deck looking so might have missed. I do see where Pine Street is blocked by police cars, no foot traffic either. The Paramount is on Pine.
I see the police escort, the streets are closes now, looking for the motorcade! EeeeK!
Don’t faint! We already have GGail plotzing because she gets to wave at the motorcade in Studio City.
Here he comes! Oh my oh my!
This is fun! my doctor lady is sitting out here with me on the deck, almost front row seats!
The freeway entrance to head back to Boeing Field is less than a block from the retirement center building, pretty exciting now!
That’s it, he’s gone. I waved and blew kisses from my heart! Wonderful! I’ma happy TODObot! Hugs all around!
but wait.. isn’t he in Seattle right now?
Pam is in Seattle.
ohhhh, lol.. I thought she was in ca.. I need to pay better attention.
PAMELA is in Seattle! Overlooking downtown when I’m working (which is still 7 days a week for a while longer).
The motorcade just entered the freeway on the way to Boeing Field. Watched the procession with my very own eyes! 5 minutes ago! WooHoot!
Pamela that is so exciting, I’m very happy for you, glad you had the chance to see it :)
If you time it just right, you and your lady doctor could possibly get even closer. Make sure the beast is directly under you before you jump. Don’t mind those guys in the sunglasses. Tell them cookemom sent you.
She ain’t doin’ no more jumping after that sternal fracture! Believe me! Tomorrow is her 86th birthday, she won’t admit it but she was delighted to see the motorcade pass by almost under her penthouse floor deck! What a day! What a day!
There were plenty of people lined up all along the streets to wave, traffic is still trying to smooth out, but they left downtown just before peak hour, so that was well planned! He is so great.. Feels sadder already without him – he was only here for 4 hours!
You’ve had me laughing all day.
Good! I am happy to know that, it has been so much fun for me!
I’m fired up too Mr. President!!!
woohoo! He is soooo going to take this country by storm again.. yippee kayay~ I am so ready for this election :) Big Fire!
So Paul ‘Eddie Munster’ Ryan and his gang want to vote to cut food stamps and meal on wheels? Yet they refused a Dem plan to prohibit cuts to defense; but cut farm and oil subsidies instead, along with tax reform for millionaires.
Yep. You heard the same thing I did. Surely there is a place reserved for these creeps.
cookemom, that’s the heartless bastards the Republicans have become.
One of my dearest friends is WORKING the dinner at Clooney’s. He’s gets to be in the same air space as two of my favorite men!! Where is a gal’s Fairy Godmother when you need her?
Oh flippin’ crikey, where is my fainting pic when I need it?!?! I hope he doesn’t spill the drinks over PBO …. I would :???:
I am shaking after my phone call, and I’m not even GOING!
He said he was probably going to donate his tips tonight. CUZ MY FRIEND IS AWESOME. :D :D :D
WOWZER!!! Maybe he can snatch one of their chicken bones.
He should pull a Romney and see if he can get a lock of their hair.
And if he gets busted, he can just say it was a harmless prank and he doesn’t remember.
JEEBUS!! OK, girl. You have GOT to get the SCOOP. All of it. Holy crap!!
I know Wolfgang Puck had to sign a confidentiality agreement but come on, surely your friend will see EVERYTHING.
Lordy Lordy Lordy! I’ma gonna lose it if I think about THIS!
So we’ll get INside DISH?!!!! RFO!@
This was very nice.
I’m really digging this WH garden, and Sam Kass of course. I don’t want Willard and Ms. Ann setting foot near this garden.
“Live in our faith, not legislate with it” – guest on Rev Al show.
That was a great segment! :-). Now he is mocking Willard :-)
Catch Tweety’s repeat show from earlier… on now, if you can. Good stuff
