(CNN) – Jay-Z may not be “a huge fan of the [political] system,” but the rapper remains a firm supporter of President Barack Obama.

The rapper said Monday in an interview with CNN’s Poppy Harlow he knows little of GOP contender Mitt Romney, and considers Obama’s announcement of support for states legalizing same-sex marriages to be a political plus.

It’s way past time for Senator Reid to pull the trigger …

Please encourage him to do so …

Hearing his righteousness of late is driving me crazy. As if he isn’t at all responsible for this mess after 2010. More worried about the day Dems are in the minority instead of dealing a blow to McConnell right now. As if the Republicans would EVER let Dems do to them what Harry Reid allowed them to do to us and PBO.

True. No Republican Leader would ever have tolerated it, especially if they had a Republican in the WH.

    Romney’s Fuzzy Jobs Math

”The Romney campaign responded that “Mitt Romney helped create more jobs in his private sector experience and more jobs as Governor of Massachusetts than President Obama has for the entire nation.”

When he ran against Ted Kennedy in 1994, Romney said he created 10,000 jobs while at Bain. During the 2012 presidential campaign, Romney’s campaign has claimed he created “over 100,000 new jobs,”

Romney is only counting gross, not net, jobs created, which is not how jobs are calculated in the real economy. “It is utterly ridiculous for Romney to cherry-pick three companies where jobs were gained and ignore other companies where there were job losses while he was at Bain,” says Michael Linden, director for tax and budget policy at the Center for American Progress. “If you applied that same standard to Obama, you would have millions—if not tens of millions—of new jobs created during Obama’s term.”

    _______

I learned something new today, now I see the way they play with the numbers….the difference between gross jobs and net jobs….

I saw on Hardball that the campaign will only air the ad once?…..I hope not, it’s powerful and factual…that’s why they’re freaking out today…and the media as well….

Found this video on youtube by following a number of links from Politico. It’s of a sound guy at Barnard commencement covering and then recovering his ears while President Obama enters because the cheering is so loud.

Just a little reminder. Tweety is on Fire again today. Took down a GOP woman so long she began to stutter. Watch Gibbs tonight with Chris on Jeopardy. I don’t get to see it much because of work but this week I am working earlier with only one double on the weekend. I usually play with my daughter. She amazes me how smart she is.

He wasn’t so much on fire earlier when he questioner how the President could possibly debate Romney on economy or something…Considering Romney’s expertise in business….something like that….it didn’t make sense anyway…..President Obama will crush that idiot

  17. May 14, 2012 at 5:47 pm

Who is this AA Bishop Harry Jackson on Tweety?——saying he voted for McCain and W, he can’t support PBO because of choice and same sex marriage support and said that lots of AAs will not vote because of these issues. How misguided. He’s influencing these people to take a stand which could make their lives worse. And wreck the country.

Not a surprise that Tweety and his ilk have dug up the AAs who will come on TV to bash the President and spread gloom and doom, but don’t have any examples of how the GOP will/have helped the AA community; and also don’t have any examples of how this attitude of hate has anything to do with spreading a message of love and tolerance. Oh well.

Just answered my own question—he’s sr. pastor of Hope Christian Church in D.C.! with a 3000 member congregation. Pretty amazing. I’m almost tempted to say ‘forgive them for they know not what they do’.

It’s interesting that the media can search far and wide for Republican pastors who oppose SSM, yet largely ignore much more INFLUENTIAL Black Democratic pastors, politicians and celebrities who support SSM,

I am willing to wager that ever single one of those 3000 people who voted for PBO in 2008, will do so in 2012. The “good” pastor admitted that he is a Bushite and voted for McCain in 2008. Yet did that affect the Black vote for PBO in 08? No it didn’t.

It will not affect the vote in 2012. That is the MSM’s way of trying to spread divisive propaganda.

dotster3, does it make sense to have someone up there talking who never supported President Obama before the same sex marriage announcement, and they are not supporting him now. That man is just hoping that blacks will not support the President. He doesn’t know that.

he isn’t influencing anyone. You just said he voted for McCain and Say Pay.

      How did that turn out?

    • May 14, 2012 at 10:36 pm

Bishop Jackson has never been an Obama supporter, dotster3. I’ve been following him for quite some time now through the site rightwingwatch. He is close to folks like Barber, Robertson, Barton, and the rest of the far right religious folk. He tried to rollback gay marriage in D.C. My opinion of him is that he doesn’t work for God so much as he works to advance his own name and recognition. Most I’d say that for most of us, voting for politicians goes way beyond single issue politics. Plus, we know how PBO has been treated, and whether we make a big fuss about it or not, we have a vested interest in contributing to his success. Tweety and the other media entertainers can dredge up whomever they want, but it won’t change the fact that when most AAs go to vote in November, we’ll be voting for PBO because there is no suitable alternative.

Marriage Equality Will Not Hurt Obama Among Black Voters At All

    To the polling data, Robin:

The opinions of whites largely reflect the population as a whole: 49% say Obama’s expression of support for gay marriage did not alter their opinion of the president. Among those who say it did, somewhat more say it made their view of him less favorable than more (29% vs. 20%).

Most African Americans, on the other hand, say the announcement did not alter their opinion of Obama. About twothirds (68%) say this, while about as many say it made them view Obama more favorably (16%) as less favorably (13%).

…I think Obama ultimately will lose roughly seven or eight votes because of his stand on marriage equality. As I said on Twitter, I think about two of those votes will be black people who claimed to support Obama, but never really did…

    • 63 lamh35
      May 14, 2012 at 6:06 pm

As of April, the gap between African-Americans and white support for gay marriage was eight points (39 percent of African-Americans support, while 47 percent of white support.) The gap between the same groups in terms of opposition was four points (47 percent of blacks oppose and 43 percent of whites opposed.)
