FLOTUS looks lovely today. Who’s that guy in the picture with FLOTUS? You can cut that guy out of the picture. I’m not a soccer fan.
Anniebella, you really don’t know what you are missing! I played soccer in college, I think it’s the most exciting sport. Besides, It’s the most universal! I am so glad the U.S. finally joined the rest of the world. That guy in the picture with our lovely First Lady is one of the best soccer players in the world. Soccer players are some of the most physically fit Athletes. It’s no wonder that FLOTUS, our champion of health and fitness, is delighted to host the LA Glaxy Champions. Open your mind and live a little and try enjoying some Soccer. You will not regret it.
Like I posted in the previous thread, Mitt must have told his handlers in the media to kiss his ass. It’s nothing BUT kiss Mitt’s Ass on every network.
The thing is Mitt has NO grassroots organization. You don’t see signs or bumper stickers for Mitt. All it looks like he is capable of doing is buying ads.
On the flip side, team Obama is hitting Mitt hard with the Bain stuff, and the right are whining. But they should be complaining to Rick Perry and Newt Gingrich, they are the ones who began the Bain Bombshell back in February. Add that in with the Bush endorsement of Romney, and Romney’s ship will sink fast, and the media will have to accept it.
Not a freak out, just expressing my anger at the media. Even Martin Bashir having Ron Christie on to kiss Mitt’s ass has angered me.
I think Bashir has on those occasional rt. wing guests to put their twisted thinking on display for all to see—–and to run away from.
I’m working from home today and caught Martin Bashir live. I was livid, too. Ron Christie is a fool.
PBO doomed in MSM “toss-up state” New Hampshire by gay marriage -just out- up by 12: Obama leads Romney 53-41 in New Hampshire. Big change compared to last July when we had Romney up 2 there: http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/main/2012/05/obama-up-big-in-new-hampshire.html

If there’s any lingering doubt about whether rapper Jay-Z is an Obama supporter, as he was in 2008, the hip-hop megastar dispelled it today.
In an interview with CNN, Jay-Z said President Obama is a better choice for the country than Mitt Romney “by leaps and bounds.”
The rapper praised Obama’s recent support for same-sex marriage, saying the issue “is still holding the country back.”
“You can chose to love whoever you love; that’s your business,” Jay-Z, 42, said. “It’s no different than discrimination against blacks. It’s discrimination plain and simple.”
OMG!!! THANK YOU JAY-Z!!!!

My Lord! Wolfe starts out with that Poll, and then says is it time fit Democrats to panic?
He will ask DWS just that, in a few.
I hope DWS puts him in his place.
Ny Times certainly got the attention the so desired! Check!
My anger for the media is justified. They’ve all been instructed to Kiss Mitt’s Ass and play up the Doom and Gloom for Obama drama.
This is called lobbying the media. And promises made!
I don’t know how you can watch that stuff….
jovie141, it is going to be so sweet when November 6th President Obama is re-elected and the sorry ass media will be trying to explain how and why. When Romney was trailing did you ever hear Wolf say that the Republicans should panic? It is May, and hell no the Dems shouldn’t panic. I can’t take these people like Wolf, that is why I refuse to watch them.
I am going to back away from all of the media, pundits, political shows. I need a break.
As soon as Romney stated that Wolfe was one of the only fair media where he was concerned, I vowed not to watch Wolfe anymore. Immediately after that, Wolfe insulted Hilary Rosen on his show. Anything Wolfe says from this point forward has no shred of credibility.
Go Tweety go!
He let her get the last word.
Rep. McMorris Rodgers graduated from Pensacola Christian College, an unaccredited fundamentalist Independant Baptist college in Pensacola, FL. according to Wikipedia. Her education may be lacking, and fundamentalists seem to consider women second class. She is a good mouthpiece for Republicans on women issues.
It’s interesting that the GOP are finally letting her speak (even if it’s to stab women in the back). They usually just drag her out to stand next to them at the podium as they speak, to extend the charade that there are women in the GOP who actually have any clout.
FUCK THOSE JP MORGAN SHAREHOLDERS. SERIOUSLY. I hope the FBI goes after them too! reuters.com/article/2012/0…— Tally Briggs (@bardgal) May 15, 2012
CNN has round table on PBO losing women and young, In NH he’s up +12 (53 Obama -41 Romney) Women Obama up 58-35 with women (Obama +20), 59-29 with young voters (Obama +20) in NH. PPP- “Those groups continue to be big problem for GOP”: http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/main/2012/05/obama-up-big-in-new-hampshire.html
Didn’t CNN have a poll which said President lead Romney by 16 with women. Now all of a sudden CNN is having a round table. So the reason the President is losing women votes is why? According to the anti-Obama media.
Women can like Ann Romney, respect her, but it is all about her husband policies, and how he supports all these anti-women policies. The women who are against Planned Parenthood being closed, the women who are against their birth control being taken away, the women who does not support all the laws passed to prevent them from having a abortion, these women who was pissed off with Limbaugh attack on Ms. Fluke, the Blunt Amendment, not passing the violence against women law, all these things and more are the Republicans policies and Romney supports these policies. So women have a President who stands up for them, who fight for them, and they are leaving that President for what.
Because CNN beltwayboyz are a pack of weasels, slightly more corrupted than the average MSM.
Two suspected U.S. drone strikes killed seven al Qaeda militants and eight civilians in the southern part of Yemen on Tuesday, three Yemeni security officials said.
It was the latest of several U.S. strikes in Yemen, which is home to al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, described by U.S. officials as the al Qaeda affiliate that poses the most serious threat to the United States.
At least seven civilians were injured in the Tuesday strikes, the officials said.
Across Yemen, at least 35 people were killed, including 24 militants, officials said.
The United States has increased the pace of airstrikes in Yemen in the last few years. At least 24 of 31 such strikes conducted since 2002 have happened in the last two years, according to the Long War Journal, which analyzes how the U.S. conducts its fight against terrorism.
According to the security officials, one of Tuesday’s strikes targeted a militant hideout in Jaar district, a militant stronghold. Another strike targeted a home believed to be harboring militants in the same district.
Three senior al Qaeda leaders were among those killed, the officials said.
But but but but drone strikes BAD, Ron Paul said so!
Poll: Voters think Obama will win
By BYRON TAU | 5/15/12 3:02 PM EDT
A new survey shows that a clear majority of Americans believe that President Obama will win reelection — even if many would prefer he didn’t.
A Gallup survey released Tuesday shows that 56 percent of voters believe Obama will win, versus just 36 percent who believe Romney will win. That includes 58 percent of independents, and 81 percent of Democrats.
Gallup’s head-to-head voter matchup shows Romney and Obama essentially tied, so it’s unclear why voters give Obama a 20-point advantage over Romney. Gallup reports that a similar preference vs. expected win gap showed up in 2004, when voters expected George W. Bush to be reelected by a 10-point margin even as the electorate split evenly on whether he deserved it.
But CNN CNN…
Therein lies the problem. PBO’s supporters are enthusiastic, confident, and most importantly, we actually like our candidate. MSM is all about narrowing the enthusiasm gap btwn the dems and the reps. Good luck polishing the POS, known as MItt Romney MSM.
Franciscan University Drops Entire Student Health Insurance Plan Over Birth Control Mandate
Franciscan University of Steubenville, a Catholic institution in Ohio, has decided to drop its entire student health insurance plan as of the fall semester 2012 because of the new federal rule requiring contraception coverage under most employee and student health policies. While a number of religious colleges have filed lawsuits over the birth control requirement, Franciscan is the first to get rid of its student health plan.
“The Obama Administration has mandated that all health insurance plans must cover ‘women’s health services’ including contraception, sterilization, and abortion-causing medications as part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA),” the school announced on its website. “Up to this time, Franciscan University has specifically excluded these services and products from its student health insurance policy, and we will not participate in a plan that requires us to violate the consistent teachings of the Catholic Church on the sacredness of human life.”
How Christian of them.
No problem, if Franciscan University wants to play that game go ahead. I’m sure they’re receiving some sort of Federal assistance, and if they are maybe the Feds should take that assistance away, we don’t want to pollute Franciscan with icky Federal assistance now do we?
This particular Catholic university is “owned” by the fundamentalist right in the Roman Catholic Church. Totally devoted to Opus Dei and the Vatican.
the majority of Catholic Women use Birth control…..the majority….why does this farce continue…
That Katherine Archuleta is a fantastic spokesperson. She had me in tears over her story about her daughter. I hope she’s given many chances to speak on behalf of healthcare. She’s so real.

The people on those shows just have to have something to fill the time. They have to stir up controversy because they want viewers. This will happen up and down until October. Everything they say is speculation, not facts. This is their job…..who watches them but a few dedicated people? Of course President Obama hasn’t lost his lead with women in one week….that’s stupid. Now, that these “polls” say he’s down, the next ones will show him SLOWLY climbing to give the same people something to talk about. This is all a seesaw…..let Mittens have his time now…it won’t last.
I love President Obama’s attitude: “Anyone with the name Barack Obama is the underdog.” That’s how he faces all his races….no overconfidence with him. He and his committee love it when these polls say silly things. Gives them more motivation, and they know we get more motivated too. Imagine what it would be like if the polls all showed him leading like he probably is? We and the entire election committee would take it easy…..there’s none of that.
Do these far right religious fundamentalists realize that Barak is the name of a respected judge in the Old Testament? I bet they don’t….or if they’ve read it, they’ve denied it. His name has a long and honorable history.
Only problem is, right after last election, they had 3 or 4 polls per day! Slowly started showing the GOP with a lead, and then the self fulfilling prophecy set in.
These polls are manipulating, which is another reason why they do it! Psychology!

Allow me to bitch. WHY is California so different? In the rest of the country gas prices are going down. But here? Up up and up. And that’s always the case. God, it’s annoying.
It is pissing me off, too, LL.
And yet try to build public transportation or high speed rail and everybody freaks out.
If L.A. had decent public transport we’d ditch one of the cars. As it is, if I were to take the bus to work, it would take me 70 minutes, as opposed to 15 by driving. It’s ridiculous. And I live only 7 miles from work.
Why does it talk the bus so long to maneuver 7 miles?
There’s no direct bus from my house to work. I think I’d need two transfers.
Same here in Seattle, I live 5 miles from work, at present, it can take up to 25 minutes. But from my neighborhood it is a two or three bus transfer, over an hour and a half each way! However, our wonderful governor has given the go ahead on light rail, which is in progress and looking great, but won’t be running until 2016! It will make a huge difference tho!
Is Seattle relatively compact? That makes a big difference. L.A. is just a huge glop. I wish we still had the Red Cars from days of yore. They went everywhere. Instead, we ripped them up.
Yes, LA has its own special needs and it’s a real car culture. Unfortunately, I don’t think there will ever be a great solution. It’s also unfortunate from a clean air perspective.
When I was in slavery to the telecom industry, I worked downtown. First I took the train—Green Line to Blue Line. Took about 45 minutes, and I had to drive to the train station. Then I took a commuter bus; drove to the same train station, but didn’t have to transfer. But pretty much if you want to get anywhere besides downtown, you need a car.
Downtown is, but the burbs are spreading out far and wide. Some folks commute 1.5 hours in their CARS!
Because THEY HATE US. We in Cali are why they aren’t long for this Earth. We are the future. We are SOLAR, WIND, HYDRO, and hopefully soon, HEMP.
Hemp for Victory! Hemp would make the perfect biofuel, and it grows like, well, weeds.
YUP. You can’t smoke industrial hemp, and you can’t grow it anywhere near marijuana because the corps cross-pollinate and screw each other up.
Outlawing HEMP was the target when WR HEARST and the Lumber Lobby went after outlawing pot, so HEMP wouldn’t be grown for paper. Hemp paper is cheaper, takes up less space, grows faster, and grows damned near anywhere!
I know exactly what you mean LL! It’s so annoying how the oil companies take advantage of the fact that Californians are so reliant on their autos. May be the Oil companies are trying to force Californians to buy into increased off shore oil drilling.
We are up to $4.39 a gallon for regular today, not happy.
Breaking my radio silence.

The problem is that the “controversy” seems a bit one-sided…all the time it’s about bad news for PBO. There are so many other controversies that the media could find on the GOP and Willard, yet they seem to get bent out of shape searching far and wide to come up with contradictory polls, silly stories about normal things that PBO did 20-30 years ago, BS about PBO’s family or his cabinet, etc.
Tells me that this isn’t just controversy, they’re looking to undermine PBO and depress enthusiasm among his supporters with constant anti-Obama memes and distractions.
“Tells me that this isn’t just controversy, they’re looking to undermine PBO and depress enthusiasm among his supporters with constant anti-Obama memes and distractions.”
That is IT! The media KNOWS that Obama has a HUGE grassroots base, and they want the Doom and Gloom to be looped so much, that some of them will say “HE BETRAYED US AND IS A SELLOUT!”

So now some of the Democrats in Wisconsin are complaining that they need money to fight against Walker in the up coming elections, maybe if they would have listened to President Obama when he damn near lost his voice trying to tell the Wisconsin Democrats not to give Walker the keys to the car. They would not have to go out with hat in hand pleading for money.
I hope the CNN/CBS Poll is true, if we stupid enough to vote Romney into office, we deserve every and anything he sends our way.
I grew up in the black church, so my perspective is from that view. If there are any black preachers out there telling their congregations to sit this election out because of President Osama’s views on same sex marriage, well then that preacher should be run out of town.
Why does Elizabeth Hasselbeck always thinks she’s going to trip up President Obama with some silly ass question?
I am so sick of this bs. You obviously have no clue what is happening in Wisconsin.

Turns out health insurers will lose one trillion $ in revenue if the RW judges on the SCOTUS overturn it. Bad for business..
It’s a double edged sword for them….. Health Insurance will morph into boutique coverage, because no one with a functioning brain stem will stay with the commercial/private/FOR PROFIT carriers after the NON-PROFITS come online in 2014, who will offer BETTER PLANS for LESS MONEY because they won’t have $12million CEOs to pay and stocks to sell.
Those NON-PROFITS will be allowed to merge across state lines to offer larger risk pools, eventually merging nationwide, and *POOF* we have SINGLE PAYER.
The insurance companies who will lose big if the SCOTUS says it’s unconstitutional to REQUIRE someone to BUY INSURANCE, are all the legit insurance companies who sell AUTO, HOMEOWNERS, FIRE, FLOOD, EQ, etc etc etc…. Because ya see, if you aren’t REQUIRED to carry health insurance while ALIVE, then you shouldn’t be required to carry AUTO IF YOU DRIVE.
So why aren’t they out fighting FOR ObamaCare.
Hate clouds people’s judgment.
Because the HEALTH CARTELS along with PHARMA have more money than all the other REAL insurance companies COMBINED.
Athens – In a run on banks associated with recent elections and government economic insolvency, Greek depositors withdrew €700 million ($898 million) from local banks Monday.
President Karolos Papoulias warned Greek political leaders on Tuesday that banks were in trouble and that withdrawals plus buy orders received by Greek banks for German bonds totalled some 800 million, according to a Wall Street Journal report.
In a transcript, Mr. Papoulias said “the strength of banks is very weak right now;” The President cited a conversation he had with Greek Central Bank Governor George Provopoulos.

Um, holy shit? Yeah, I think that’s the appropriate response.
Why is no-one talking about this on the news, and instead focusing on lying Romney? Isn’t this the kind of world he wants to create – a second great depression where the citizens make a run on the banks to save their last dollars from the greedy few? This is bad news.
Interesting perspective on these latest “polls” :
From a post at Daily Kos:
“I know we all have a tendency to freak out when a poll comes out showing Romney beating Obama in a head-to-head national matchup. This is certainly the case with the new CBS/ New York Times poll that came out yesterday, showing Romney in the lead by several percentage points.
Well, you can come down off that ledge because I discovered that at this stage in the 2004 election, Kerry led G.W. Bush by 8 points, 49-41, in a CBS News poll conducted on 5/20-5/23, 2004.
Moreover, Bush’s job approval/disapproval numbers sat at 41/52, much worse than where Obama’s are now.
Plus, in the month of May that year, Kerry led in most of the polls, though not by as wide a margin as this one.

Tweet DWS, Steve Israel about the situation in WI. The polls are not looking good (another one today). Walker has been bombarding the airwaves with Koch bros and out of state money for months. Repubs also have a ground game. This recall will be considered a referendum about Democratic support for everything and everyone — well — Democratic. If you can send a few bucks to Barrett, that’s great. But I think the optics of the DNC supporting this recall is immensely important. If you read the diary you will see that those that have been working for this for over a year are demoralized and we cannot afford to let that happen.
I was born and raised in WI but it’s not about my home state. It’s about how Democrats will be viewed if they let this one slip by.

Someone should sent that to Ed Schultz.
I live in Wisconsin and was rather disturbed about reports that the WI organizers were raising a row with the DNC. Did that originate with Schultz? I don’t watch cable news at all. But for me it directed my anger towards the WI organizers. They’ve worked so hard and accomplished so much. They knew Walker was traveling the country raising huge funds. Were they that short-sighted not to build in fundraising as well? Made me feel a bit discouraged. This tweet from DWS raises my spirits a bit.
I was wondering why this tweet was making the rounds on twitter earlier today. Are the WI organizers looking for a scapegoat, in case they can’t organize Walker out of the Governor’s seat? I thought someone tweeted over the weekend that OFA was now getting involved on the ground in Wisconsin? I saw Ed freaking out last night (on mute), and suspected something was up. This is very confusing, and totally counterproductive, if it’s not true.
What a difference a day makes:
Here’s the article I saw that probably got Schultz all riled up:
New one today has a bit of a rosier picture:
You just know that Ed will be taking credit for the change – even if there was no real change.
Ricky Martin loves his President So do we, Mr. Martin, so do we.
cbsn.ws/JxZUI0 With @BarackObama Such an honor!— Ricky Martin (@ricky_martin) May 14, 2012
I find Toure irritating.
I follow him somewhat on Twitter. Like his passion on some things, but I think he’s a bit immature.
He is a overrated punk , IMO
Can’t stand him either.
Me three. Annoying!
Used to like him. Way too impressed with himself. Not well reasoned in many of his opinions. Often too emotional and off base.
Finally watched part (the non-Ron Christie part – I cannot stand him) of Martin Bashir’s show. Martin is so humorous. He mentioned George W was caught by a reporter while getting onto an elevator, and said W responded – just as the elevator doors closed – with a quick “I support Mitt Romney.” Martin added, “Going down, sir?” Loved it!
CHART: Spending, Taxes, And Deficits Are All Lower Today Than When Obama Took Office
The fact is that Obama inherited a disaster of a federal budget. Eight years prior, when President George W. Bush took the oath of office, there was a $281 billion surplus. By the time Obama was sworn in, he was facing a $1.2 trillion deficit. Inconvenient though it may be for conservatives (especially those who are running for president), the truth is that spending, taxes and the deficit are all lower today than when President Obama took office.
LOL! I was just coming to post this, df. GMTA!!
I had an itchy finger….
Chips, if you’re out there, the chart in this article looks like a serious candidate for TOD front page.
Yes It Does!!!!!!
I seriously laughed out loud! Boner just doesn’t have the tools for his job. Out maneuvered yet again!
This is delicious karma for Boehner and their GOP cohorts.
Oh my goodness…….I would have loved to see Boehner’s face when Sec Geithner said that.
I just came over here to see if anyone had posted this yet. I don’t want this to be a drive-by post…this is way bigger than people realize. Taking Boehner’s leverage away from him to prevent the Bush tax cuts from expiring is HUGE.
Desertflower, you are incredible in finding some gem stories/news! This piece must be widely shared. Somebody should ask the Orange man what happened to his 98% he claimed to have won in last years debt ceiling negotiations with the President?
If Chuck Todd isn’t getting paid by the Romney campaign, he is wasting so much effort on his behalf. The report he gave on the Nightly News was the most skewed thing imaginable. Women now prefer Romney, here’s Obama on The View trying to win them back. Here’s the most nebulous cuts from his appearance on the View. I had to spend a lot of time cutting away all the remarkable and endearing moments and just show you these short little tidbits cut off before Obama got to the point of what he was saying. Here’s Romney giving his speech on the economy which he promises to save. Here he is downgrading Obama and his policies. I’m going to let this play for a while. Romney is a businessman and knows how to create jobs.
It was disgusting.
Chuck Todd is a fool. I’ve given up on all the traditional shows that were kind of balanced – Nightly news, NPR.
I don’t watch Chuck Todd, or any of that other garbage. That’s the only way I stay sane, I can’t put up with all this anti- Obama B.S. from the media.
Chuckie is the result of a damaged condom!
why so testy, Theo? We see you! 8)
Hey Dudette – I’m trying to stop the onslaught of comment notifications. Not working so far…
Oh, I thought someone came up with a solution for that a while back for the group.
Wish I could help, I’ve been lucky and not had to deal with that problem.
On the other hand, I’ve got more than my share of other “issues”.
I haven’t had the issue since the solution came up last week, but for some reason, it’s not working for me this time. I’ll keep trying.
Pres. Obama’s appearance on The View.
