If you have any problems with the video you can see it at Mediaite – from 2:0 in
beautiful, thanks Chips!
I have always been fond of letterman.
I have too, but I love him for asking that in the video, what more? And why can we not give this President the credit he deserves, not just for getting Bin Laden, but for ACA, for supporting women’s rights, for a plan to restore, renew the infrastructure of this country, for a plan that moves us forward in education, technology, jobs …. and will move us forward in spirit, restoring and renewing our pride in our country and our desire to make it forever the best it can be.
Great post. I shared it with my facebook friends and family.
no s__t. that was awesome.
Congrats on first. Too busy watching video to post anything,
Third! I can’t think of anything our President hasn’t tried to do for us.
Alas, no. Now it’s above my math skills.
Me too. I guess we were tied for fourth.
I can’t get the video to play. Can someone quickly summarize?
Just like the Title says, “What more can this man do for us, my G-D?”
Yikes, is the video working for anyone??
You can see it here 57, from about 2:05 in:
Watching it right now…no problem.
Phew, thanks Pugeretto.
I had no problem with it, either, Chips!
Some of us at work have systems which block videos.
Ah, okay, I just thought there might be a problem with the video itself. Thanks Japa.
Working fine for me.
“and there you have it!”
Gooooooood morning everyone!
Outstanding. I’m passing this on and on and on!
Thank you David Letterman. Well said.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Dave Letterman!! I hope President Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama and the Bidens all go on his show. He is committed and brilliant – as evidenced by the video. Remember how he EVISCERATED John McCain for blowing him off only to go onto another show in 2008 – it was brutal and he just pounded McCain.
President Obama, you’d find a welcoming and warm, funny time on Letterman’s show – we’d love to see you there!
Congratulations lovingandlaughing on being first!!
Mrs. Obama was on Dave Letterman’s show a few weeks ago.
Amen! It occurred to me that what we have in Barack Hussein Obama is “The Soul in Action”. He is doing what we ALL should and can be doing, he is just so far ahead of human evolution, those who will not see a bright future for our race are simply blind. That may change. God Bless and Keep our President, and his family on whom he dotes for his strength and ability to persevere.
Pamela, you have said it all in these three lines. Thanks.
Amen to you, Pamela. Beautifully said.
Beautifully said, madam!
Love Letterman because he tells it like it is.
I was watching this last night and applauding along with the studio crowd. Letterman has been great in supportive comments about PBO and getting in a lot of nightly zingers on Willard. And, yes, what more do we want Obama to do for us, honest to God? Letterman spoke for a lot of us with that key question.
JPMorgan Chase & Co was the target of two separate lawsuits by shareholders on Wednesday, accusing the bank and its management of excessive risk that led to trading losses of $2 billion or more announced last week.
A spokesman for JPMorgan Chase declined to comment on the two lawsuits, which were filed in U.S. District Court in Manhattan.
I hope that bastard demon “Dimon” goes down. Just on MTP he was whining about too much regulation and how unfriendly this administration was and he wasn’t going to support the democrats…..F#$K You.
On the other hand, him whining about unfriendly the Obama administration has been to banks is a GOOD thing.
If the twit had embraced these reforms then he wouldn’t have to go before stakeholders and explain how he loss 2 billion dollars and plead to keep his job.
Good Morning TOD Family
Kudos to David Letterman for saying what NO ONE IN/ON THE MSM has the courage to say, “WHAT THE F@#K MORE DO YOU WANT THIS PRESIDENT TO DO”?
The American people allowed the Republicans eight years to f@#k-up this country and only gave the Democrats ONE F@#king chance to un-do the crap they did, then re-elected the rethugs again because the dems didn’t turn things around fast enough and now Robme and his media is pushing the same meme, “You didn’t clean up our mess fast enough without our help”, so step aside and let us mess it up again.
If I could kiss David Letterman I would plant a great big wet one on him. Because he spoke the truth, nothing but the truth. “What more do we want this man to do for us.” When I heard Letterman say those words, I said clap my hands and said right on Mr. Letterman. We have a dam good President in office right now now, who has had to deal with some very difficult situation, and he has dealt with them, he has brought this country back from falling off a cliff, and people are complaining he hasn’t done it quick enough. The economy is better, no it’s not like we want it to be, but just imagine if President Obama had had help from the Republicans, instead of the Republicans sabotaging everything, and flat out doing nothing. Hoping, wanting the economy to fail, not to improve so election time they could let their two bit lying candidate blame President Obama.
Thhanks to Letterman. I am glad that he talked over Williams who did not know what to say.
OMG, my keys are acting up on my laptop. :) “meant”.
I turned it off when it came time for BW to speak. I’d like for Letterman to get a hold of Tom Brokaw some night. lol
Gooooood west coast morning Chipsticks & TOD family.
I say 4 more years for David Letterman too!
Thank you Chipsticks for posting that video. It made my morning more Cherrier :D
Morning GGail! Loved, loved, loved the video, I thought Letterman was OUTSTANDING!
Shut up, Brian Williams. He thinks he’s so funny, but he’s not.
I got to give him credit for the as “we say in New Jersey Aboutabing”. That was pretty funny.
I have to say, Williams cracks me up a lot of the time, he can be a severely funny guy!
He does have a great sense of humor, and other than C. Todd’s reports on his nightly news programs, which is probably forced on him, Todd being the NBC political wizard and all—-what a horrible joke that is!—- he has been more objective in his reporting than most of the others. I think the Obama WH has noticed also, as they often give Williams the key interviews and access. Obama rewards good behavior.
He is super hilarious when he crashes The Daily Show.
We are not being served, we deserve better.
That was amazing. David Letterman puts the mainstream media to shame. He went right to the heart of the matter using facts and common sense. He ended the segment asking the logical question that no one in the mainstream media or the Republican Party has the courage to answer. “What More Do We Want This Man To Do For Us, Honest To God”. It’s a sad commentary when interviews on late night comedy shows are more informative and insightful than the mainstream media. Everyone should sign the “Americans For Ethics In Journalism Petition” that hopefruit2 provided in the early morning thread. This is important. Let’s do this.
AMERICANS FOR ETHICS IN JOURNALISM
I watch Stephanie Miller’s show in the morning. It was brought out that about 6 major corporations own 80% of the mainstream media. Dan Rather was on her show this morning. Remember when Dan Rather lost his job? It was because he reported a negative truth about GWB. The CEO of the corporation, who was a Republican, told Rather to step down or be fired. I’m not a fan of Rather but he spoke the truth when he said that CEO’s and management have every right to support whomever they wish. They do not have the right to tell news broadcasters to withhold information from the public because it might make their guy look bad.
“It was brought out that about 6 major corporations own 80% of the mainstream media”
You can thank Bill Clinton for this. It was moving that way when he took office but Clinton put it on the fast track and then provided the tools to make sure it would not be reversed.
Won’t know what all Letterman said until I can view the video later, but I love his wit and his support for the Prez, so I will say, “Go Dave!” on general principle.
Hi PJ, here’s a summary from Mediaite:
NBC News anchor Brian Williams appeared on CBS’ The Late Show with David Letterman on Tuesday night. Letterman discussed Williams’s special on Rock Center about the killing of Osama bin Laden and became agitated when describing President Barack Obama’s successes as compared to what he sees as President George W. Bush’s failures in the War on Terror. “What more do we want this man to do for us, honest to god,” asked Letterman.
…. Letterman drew applause from the audience when he said that he felt Obama had demonstrated “great courage and great intelligence” when he “gunned down” bin Laden and asked “what more do you want to lead your country?”
Williams said that most uniformed military personnel would tell him under the Bush administration that bin Laden himself was not a priority. “What you now find out, interviewing everyone in that picture, that of course it was a priority but it was a renewed priority when President Obama came into office,” said Williams. “He inherited a different set of circumstances – combat was winding down, arguably, at least the first if not the second.”
Letterman said that circumstances in Obama’s first term were worse than those for Bush, so “why didn’t he go after him?”
Williams outlines just how low the chances were that Obama could have been able to corner bin Laden where he was in Pakistan.
Letterman questioned why Obama should not be able to use the killing of bin Laden as a campaign tool when he believed Bush’s team would have done the same thing in that position. “Remember the Iraq war, “mission accomplished,” well holy ****, the mission was not accomplished,” said Letterman. “They put a banner up on the SS Lincoln, George flies up on the thing. He was very cute.”
“What more do we want this man to do for us, honest to god,” asked Letterman to applause.
“And there you have it,” responded Williams.
Thanks so much. Above and beyond, as always dear Chips.
This is vitally important media. What is so striking is seeing a comedy host do a better job of journalism than the entire MSM.
It should shame the MSM when a comedian can provide more truth and facts in less than 10 minutes than any news network provides in 30 minutes of airtime. The American media is a massive failure in TV and print, but it has never occurred to the owners that the reason they’re having problems with increasing the number of viewers and subscribers is directly related to the accuracy of the information they report/print. I remember when CNN started, it was the #1 Go To Network for national and international news. Now, I never watch it. I had enough of Erick Erickson here in my city when he was on the city council, and every time I hear something stupid that Dana Loesch has said, I could just puke. I can do without shoddy journalism of this sort.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, CHIPS! :-P :-P :-P ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
I heart Dave even more. It takes greatness to recognize greatness.
Wow, thanks Chips!
Give David Letterman and CBS some positive Feedback. Go to Letterman’s website, scroll down to the bottom, click on FEEDBACK, pull down Late Show w/Letterman and leave your comments. Letterman deserves to hear “good job” from us. IMO
Done & done!
This David Letterman video has to be one of the best and most powerful campaign ads I have seen in a long time.
David Waldman @KagroX
Romney made his money by using borrowed cash to PREVENT smaller companies from using their money to create jobs.
I am so tweeting this.
Check out the rest of his tweets. There are so many good ones, it’s hard to pick which ones to post here. Like this one…..
Borrow $ to buy company. Make company borrow $ to pay 1st loan. Raid pensions to pay 2nd loan. Hand busted pensions to federal PBGC. Win!
I didn’t know about this guy. I’ll look at his other stuff and follow him for sure.
I retweet and tweet once in awhile. I barely understand twitter and wondered if there was any point in retweeting to my TOD friends, since we’re all on the same page. But it does extend outward.
ROMNEY & UNIONS (If this doesn’t seen a chill up your spine, I don’t know what will. This man is diabolical & dangerous.)
What Does Mitt Romney Think of Unions?
The International Union of Painters and Allied Trades released a video on Monday that gathers together all of Mitt Romney’s anti-union statements during the 2012 campaign. He covers a lot of ground. If elected, he said he would:
End preference for unionized companies in government contracting.
End project labor agreements.
Fight to repeal the Davis-Bacon Act.
Make sure that workers have a “secret ballot” (Something they already have, of course, but this is coded language for opposing the Employee Free Choice Act).
– more at link –
This video made my blood pressure rise. He is such a liar about PBO.
He’s there boy. In other words he’s going to continue the assault that Republicans have been practicing on the working class since Taft-Hartley.
Up and at ‘em you O’s!!! Well for me at least. It’s a great gettin’ up sunny but a tad cool day in Chi-town. Gonna finish clearing more brush today (unlike ‘W’ there are no photo-ops involved). I missed most of the morning shows today, but I did catch Ed Schultz on The Washington Journal. He was cool, calm, and collected. He stayed positive and informative. He didn’t rise to the bait to PBO bash.
If brush is cleared and there are no photo ops, does it really count?
A little nippy here but it’s a pretty day. Good for Ed. He has been supportive of PBO for awhile now.
The Obama administration announced yesterday that it would consider vetoing two bills put forth by the Republican-controlled House of Representatives, both of which contain anti-gay provisions. In its one Statement of Administration Policy,
the White House outlined numerous reasons it opposes the House version of the National Defense Authorization Act, which contains a military “license to bully” provision and restricts same-sex marriages or similar ceremonies from being held on military bases. The other Statement of Administration Policy addressed the Violence Against Women Act, from which House Republicans stripped all protections for minority groups:
Dave has never suffered fools gladly. I really don’t envy Brian Williams in this position, though..he has to at least appear neutral, but I am sure he agrees with Letterman’s every argument (he and Letterman have a mutual admiration going on, from what I read) If Brian had come out and said, “you’re absolutely right, Dave” at any point, it would have cost him his job.
Voting is open until the 20th: http://www.the-french-job.com/videos.php?show=4fb253e3f01c9 For my daughter!
Voted! Thanks, Pamela!
I voted too, Pamela. What a beautiful, accomplished daughter; you must be very proud!
Pamela, I just voted. What a terrific young lady. HZ
I just voted for your daughter. Best of luck!
Zowie! What more Indeed!
Man, I love Letterman! He’s just straight up righteous!
Just saw on CNN… medical reports for Zimmerman say he had broken nose, other injuries…
nintendowii10, so what’s the big deal if he did have that? I am assuming they have pictures. But what people don’t get is if Zimmerman had never been following Trayvon, there never would have been a fight. So it makes no different to me about what the medical reports are showing. When the 911 dispatcher told Zimmerman not to follow the 17 year old, he shouldn’t have follow him and chances are Trayvon would be alive and Zimmerman wouldn’t be in the mess he is in now.
Reporters covering Mitt Romney’s campaign sent out a volley of tweets on Wednesday, complaining that they had been prevented from asking the presumptive Republican nominee questions at an event in Florida.
Trouble between the campaign and the press apparently started at the beginning of the day. Sara Murray, a Wall Street Journal reporter, tweeted that journalists had been told they would not be asking any questions of Romney. “Isn’t that our decision?” a reporter asked.
Then, the press corps was told that Romney was having an off the record meeting with “middle class families.” Politico’s Ginger Gibson noted that they used to be able to see these meetings happen, but were now having their access cut off.
Things only deteriorated from there. A public event followed the private meeting, and campaign aides tried to physically prevent reporters from asking Romney questions at the rope line where he was greeting voters. The reporters “refused to leave,” in New York Times reporter Michael Barbaro’s words.
ABC’s Emily Friedman said that most journalists were able to get to the rope line, “despite USSS and campaign asking us to leave and stop,” but that Romney still refused to answer any questions.
“ABC’s Emily Friedman said that most journalists were able to get to the rope line, “despite USSS and campaign asking us to leave and stop,” but that Romney still refused to answer any questions.”
Sounds like Mitt is having his Sarah Palin moments. Remember when she refused to answer questions during rope lines, and how the media got fed up with her ignoring them. This summer, Mitt is going to have to do interviews outside of Fox, especially since he’s attempting to put on this front that he can relate to the average worker, which we KNOW is BS.
I am NOT surprised by this. Romney has no answers to any of our problems, so he either refuses to allow the press into his events, or he ignores them. I want him to keep shunning the press. Maybe then, people like Knoller, Tapper, and Rubin will stop carrying water for him. I think the problem is that Romney knows the heat is on and can’t stand it. We know he doesn’t like being challenged on anything he says. I read that he avoided answering a reporter’s question about Jamie Dimon and JP Morgan Chase at a campaign event in N.C. last week. He wants to get rid of Dodd/Frank, but he doesn’t want to answer any questions about JP Morgan Chase’s $2 Billion loss. Others have to answer questions, but not Romney. He knows that if he were POTUS, he would let Wall Street run wild again, and if they needed another bailout, he’d do everything to see that the bankers got it. Afterwards, he’d lie to the American people and say that the failure of WS banks was due to too much regulation. He’s a shameless liar and fraud who thinks that people should believe what he says simply because his name is Mitt Romney.
Oh my god!! David Letterman sounds just like me??? This makes me feel so great to see Letterman praise our hard working prez this way! Totally refreshing.
Bravo, Dave Letterman!!!
I agree BRAVO David! On the other hand.. Blech Brian Williams.
Wow. Go Letterman. What more do we want this man to do for us ? Honest to God, indeed.
brian, get a brain. Shrub just shrugged off the whole shite.
Just getting in and catching up; wanted to add my Amen to Letterman”s comment and my feelings of shared disgust that made him make the comment.
Letterman stated a fact that so many of us ask everyday. Thank you, Mr. Letterman for recognizing what POB has done and is continuing to do. We will win this. Stay focus, stay committed, and stay with POB in your prayers. FORWARD. HZ
http://www.prwatch.org/node/11508 CMD Special Report: New Documents Confirm Koch Was on ALEC Crime Task Force Led by NRA (Part One)
PART ONE: New documents show that Koch Industries had a seat on the controversial “Public Safety and Elections Task Force” of the American Legislative Exchange Council as of at least 2011. (Part two of this special report detailing the extent of the gun agenda over the past two decades is available here.)
ALEC announced it was dropping that task force in the wake of the controversy over the tragic shooting of Trayvon Martin and so-called “Stand Your Ground” (SYG) laws. However, the co-leader of that task force, Rep. Jerry Madden (R-TX), revealed ALEC’s announcement to be a PR maneuver when he reassured The Christian Post that his task force’s work would continue through other ALEC task forces.
Koch Industries has vigorously defended ALEC, and has assailed reporting that noted that the company, led by billionaire brothers Charles and David, is a long-time funder and leader of ALEC and that ALEC has long advanced the NRA agenda through “model” gun bills, including Florida’s controversial SYG law that was ratified by ALEC in 2005.
It turns out that Koch was a member of that ALEC task force in recent years, and that it was on the task force when the NRA was the private sector co-chair. Moreover, Koch Industries had not one but two employees who were listed as “members” present for ALEC’s “Public Safety and Elections” Task Force at the last annual task force summit.
