    CONGRATS on first, Andogriff!

Watching The Ed show with the guy that was charged with rape! He spent five years in jail and was exonerated today. But why isn’t the girl charged with false testimony (or pulling a Mitt Romney – LYING)!.

What I love is the fact that even though she’s looking at him in that accusatory ‘Did I give you permission to write on my picture’ way, her expression is not of the ‘Get away from me’ type. Her expression reminds me somewhat of the babies at the window watching PBO picture. I admit I have an ongoing fascination with the way children react to the President and the First Lady.

          May 25, 2012 at 8:47 pm

THEY actually like children and find babies adorable. Mittens’ fake smiles don’t fool kids. Babies take one look at that puss and immediately start to bawl.

That’s part of what fascinates me; children actively interact with them, even children who don’t speak. The connection at times, particularly with the president, often seem almost electric IMO. We have a genuinely GOOD man at the helm!

Secretary Geitner on risk and heat….presented by Smartypants

    http://immasmartypants.blogspot.com/2012/05/secretary-geithner-on-risk-and-heat.html

    ***********************************************

In economic policy, your job is to try to relax the political constraints on policy, not simply to resign yourself to live within them. But still, you have to govern with knowledge of the possible, and to be able to choose among the feasible alternatives, not be caught too long in the search of the theoretical ideal.

That is a great piece about Geithner. I always felt he was better than what all the pundits and lefties felt. The things that we don’t understand, they have to deal with. I do trust our President!

    • 44 theo67
      May 26, 2012 at 1:10 am

I’ve always supported Secretary Geithner. He had the second toughest job in the White House, next to President Obama – and he was in the hot seat from the beginning, and he stuck to it, despite not having any staff for a large part of it. and he’s pretty sexy and cool, too. (Plus, he’s the same age as President Obama – seems to share a lot of the same values, including the motivation that made him choose to work in public service his entire life).

every time I see PBO with a little girl, I think of him saying about Malia: “She’s 5 foot 9″ but she’s still my baby.”— I think that was in 2010. I wonder what her height is now? Poor PBO, his babies just keep growing up. :(

I saw a picture of FLOTUS, Malia and Sasha at this year’s Easter Egg Hunt. Malia looked taller than Mrs O. And the top of Sasha’s head came up to Mrs. O’s mouth. A very statuesque family to say the least.

I posted the picture of this beautiful little girl on my facebook page and one of my FB friends just left me this comment.

“Ok, I have to tell you my favorite story about kids from the 2007-8 campaign. I spent a lot of time canvassing/making calls in NH out of the Portsmouth office. One day a little girl (she was a 1st grader) and her mom went into the office to get some handouts because the little girl was writing a paper for school. While she was there, the President came in to thank all of us for volunteering. When the little girl saw him she started crying because she wasn’t dressed up to meet him. So with the cameras all flashing and people cheering he stopped everything and kneeled down to talk to her. She showed him the paper she was working on and he took it, read it very carefully, asked her questions, and then wrote A+ on the first page and signed it. He then gave her a hug and she was all smiles–but the rest of us were crying.”

    Priceless!!

            • May 26, 2012 at 3:16 am

So sad to hear that. I remember the thrill we all had getting her the computer; we were so proud of her; it is hard to see her going for ron paul; she seemed so sensible. What happened to JR; remember the money bombs at 11pm Fridays? I couldn’t contribute as I am Canadian, but the cheering! wow!
How is Marytnurse? I thought about her yesterday when PBO was in Iowa.

              • 58 donna dem 4 obama
                May 26, 2012 at 12:45 pm

                Hi Barb!

Marytnurse is doing very well. She is very active in Iowa with the Presidents reelection. Lace is a Libertarian but claims she doesn’t like Ron Paul but is not a supporter of the President either so I’m not sure where her head is. Joe Ruwe to my surprise is a 911 truther. He believes 911 was an inside job by Bush and he hates ALL war. So when the President escalated the war in Afghanistan a few months after he took office Joe went silent and now NEVER discusses the President.

Vero is still around but unfortunately she was blocked from this site because of a conversation she had here during the contraception situation earlier this year. She is very active in Virginia working to replace Eric Cantor.

Thanks dear friend for always being here to support our efforts.

And you can be sure he would have done the same. exact. thing. even if there were no cameras around.

This beautiful story is just one among numerous examples that demonstrate what kind of man Barack Obama is. There is a generosity of heart in him that is very rare in politicians. An empathy for every other human being. And you know, sometimes I feel so much compassion for him, because I just know in my heart that since he cares so much for people, each political setback is much more frustrating and heartbreaking for him. He didn’t go into politics to achieve personal glory; he went to HELP people and make the world a better place.

He needs all our prayers so he keeps his spirit and his courage.

      • 63 theo67
        May 26, 2012 at 1:15 am

So true. In the PBS documentary, “The President’s Photographer”, President Obama said he didn’t run for office to BE something; he ran for office to DO something”. I’ve always remembered that sentiment. He also said in one of his town halls that it’s heartbreaking reading some of the letters because he often wants to pick up the phone and just start working the case himself. I think you’re absolutely right about his reaction to each political setback – which makes him all the more astounding that he gets up every time, in the face of racism and sheer obstruction, stupidity and hate being hurled at him, and he just rolls up his sleeves and works even harder. He’s a gift.

Donna, I am crying now. Just read your comment. Yes, we have such a gift in POB. That precious little girl will never forget what that day meant to her. He is touching so many precious little ones as well as us Big ones. I love my president., and I pray each day for continued blessings and granted wisdom. We will make it through with much grace and many blessings., I have to trust in this prayer.

I just also want to say, we also have a beautiful gift in our Chipsticks. I am constantly giving up thanks for Chips and this beautiful TOD family. You all must know how so many of the seniors here love you for working so hard, encouraging us to support you, and doing our best to help in all ways possible.

My sibling sent me a text yesterday and shared how proud he was elated to see me still moving and working with young people and people in general. He said that of course, it is not in my DNA to just sit and not get involved in a positive manner with great causes because that is not what our mother taught us. Because I’m in constant pain, one would think that I would give in to that pain and just stand still, but I can’t, I just can’t. So when I come here and see how my precious Chips keep us going each day, I am totally grateful. (((((((((((( Thanks for our gift in Chips))))))))))))) And (((((Thanks for our gift in our POTUS)))))))))) I love you all so much.HZ

do you think that the President should come to WI to campaign for Barnett……

    • 74 lisalovesobama
      May 25, 2012 at 8:12 pm

No. I heard Nicole Whatsit’sface on Randi today mentioning that. My answer is NO. If the people of WI can’t do what’s necessary for their own good, then it’s on them. Voters need to take personal responsibility for their votes. Perhaps if they spent time educating themselves in the beginning, they wouldn’t have had a Scott Walker to begin with. PBO can’t save everyone from themselves. This is what being a responsible citizen is about. So NO. PBO should work on getting his message across to the whole country, not meddling in one stubborn state’s election.

        • 83 Chi
          May 26, 2012 at 5:14 am

Rather ironic that Nicole I forget her last name, was one of those who told people to stay home in 2010 to stick it to President Obama…

She, a strong John Edwards groupie who still can’t seem to find it in her to support President Obama and will jump at any opportunity to criticize and badmouth him while still romanticizing an Edwards presidency that might have been but for President Obama…

That is the extent of Nicole’s judgement and should tell any thinking person all they need to know about her…

I quite loathe her and I don’t listen when she subs for Randi…but one doesn’t miss much since all she really does is quote from a few blog posts from her heroes like Glen Greenwald, Adam Green, David Sirota and other hate-President Obama purveyors…

She then proceeds to whine and rage about the Obama sin de jour per her masters…

And what a lazy host…does absolutely no independent research of her own and fails to even know how to wing it…relying instead on her fellow mediocre bloggers and the 6 or so fans who always call in when she subs, to help push her misinformation and angst…

Funny how quickly she folded once Alan West had her hurled off to jail…she seemed to forget that she wasn’t dealing with our dignified, patient, kind President who indulges and transcends their attacks and silliness…

As much as I detest Alan West, I actually got a teeny bit of satisfaction from that whole episode with Nicole Sanders(?)…

It was one of those wickedly gratifying moments…sadly…

          • 84 theo67
            May 26, 2012 at 11:01 pm

You are living in my head! I agreed with everything you wrote, and have muttered much of the same to myself when I’ve tried to listen to her for more than just a few minutes (as an ode to Randi). She’s very juvenile in her thinking. And just like Ed, she helped to create the situation in Wisconsin, and now holds President Obama’s re-election hostage for the outcome of the recall. So, I guess they’ll get what they want with a “President Romney”…

PBO went to WI aty least twice before the 2010 election and in front of a huge crowd, he told everyone not to give the keys back to the republicans, while Ed and other PL were whining and telling folks to stay at home because they were not getting what they want. What can he do now? If the Dems do not vote to get Walker out after all of their enthusiasm in getting signatures for the recall, I don’t see anything that PBO can do now.

Exactly, I never forgave Ed Shultz for that….he had Adam Green on often and they used to bash the President non stop and when he said to people to stay home, I lost it……. I have to admit that Ed Shultz has definitely changed his tune,…but still….

I saw a good comment on Twitter from LP…

@edshow It shouldn’t take a penny to get these folks to vote against Walker.

That’s it…..if they need a gazillion to fight Walker…..what is there to do? They have amnesia? They don’t know what he did?

And if President Obama would go there or had been there ….and Walker wins big!…Who’s going to be blame?…..it won’t be a local election anymore……and we know how the MSM work……

I’m going to watch the debate on CSpan.

      • 93 amk for obama
        May 25, 2012 at 8:39 pm

Bingo. He repeatedly asked them not to do it and they went ahead and did it anyway. So they can now own the result for their irresponsible voting/non-voting/voting for wlaker as Lisa says above. There is a reason why only adults are allowed to vote ? Fucking maturity and reasoning power?

If you recall, their earlier recalls of rethug state senators didn’t go that great either, what with a poor turnout despite the hype. That should have either given them the pause on walker or should have taught them on how to increase the turnout. Fuck, they couldn’t even be united, in their do or die moment, and put up one single candidate and had to waste precious money, time and effort in a stupid primary. And who did they choose ? The same guy who lost to walker last time around. Fucking unbelievable.

Every shit that happens gets blamed on Obama anyway. So, this loss (I hope it does not happen) will also be pinned on him. So who gives a fuck ?

And also let’s not forget the credit side. Assume Obama gets involved and walker is recalled. Do you think any of these whiners like ed shultz would give him credit ? No way. They will claim they did it all by themselves.

        Fuck WI. Fuck walker.

        /end of rant

          Spot on…

They are already mocking the money the DNC is raising on behalf of Barrett with the usual negative refrain…

And the finger-wagging and threats to once again boycott President Obama in November as punishment, does absolutely nothing to engender and sustain support… and only succeeds in annoying and alienating those of us who are pitching in to help…

It is all so tiresome the threats, demands and general lack of awareness and introspection…

Sometimes one just finds oneself becoming rather indifferent and sadly numb to the whipped up outrage and frenzied accusations that always manage to edit out their continued roles in this unfortunate situation that finds the good people of Wisconsin in this predicament…

But tell me…if 40% of Union homes in Wisconsin are willing to vote against their own best interests for whatever reason and in spite of loud pleas from Ed Schultz in his role as hunting, fishing, bowling, America-loving, everyman USA…then what exactly is President Obama supposed to do to bring around these people who clearly hate him more than they cherish their hard-won rights…

If PBO were to go to WI, then the recall will be all about PBO and not walker. our state fought the dirty koch money and won big because we were united in supporting the unions and focused on defeating the right wingers

I don’t think PBO needs to go but this is not just a local election. It has national implications and the dnc and the campaign needs to understand how emboldened Republicans will be by a defest. I’m from WI and I have friends on the ground there. There is a feeling of betrayal by the psrty and unfortunately PBO by extension. Support now will assure WI for PBO.

        • May 26, 2012 at 6:47 pm

President Obama is doing the correct thing by not going. Remember when we lost uncle Ted Kennedy’s seat, and some people were saying that POB did not make himself visible enough. Blah, blah, blan. POB is a brilliant man and a brilliant politician. I trust his judgement in this matter. Let the people of WI organize and win this one on their own. OFA is there on the ground, and Ed is trying to score his points. Let It Be, and We Will See. The Vote Rests with the Power of the People of WI. HZ

      • May 25, 2012 at 9:25 pm

Is that really Mahlia? I’m sorry, but even though it looks enough like her, there’s something strange about the pic to me. Then again, these eyeballs are so old, they can barely make it one full time around the socket. It just seems strange to me that she’s sitting there among kids and no SS in sight, unless it’s the wonan in the row in front of her.

It seems that Malia is covered by SS on the side of her, next to her, and behind her. I am glad she is able to enjoy herself and live as normal as possible. One thing, we do know for sure, Malia is covered. Her parents make sure of that. Remember our mothers would say:”Do not mess with my children, my husband, and my money, and in that order.” Well, well. And we do know when POB and FLOTUS hear or see otherwise, shit will fly. Oh, that is not a nice word, but it is the most fitting one in this case. Do not mess with the kids, plain and simple. HZ

You would think that the media was working for the Romney campaign, the way they help make a non story into a story. But yet this same sorry ass media, barely gives this racists birther issue any attention. Here you have Mitt Romney having a fundraiser with Donald Trump, a racists birther, and the media is not calling for Mitt Romney to distance himself from birther Trump. • 141 57andfemale
            May 25, 2012 at 11:45 pm

When RW radio hosts in WI say “they both did fine”, that means Barrett did great. When the best they can say is, “No knock-out punch” — that’s pundit-speak for Barrett did just fine. Pundits like fireworks. Barrett was extremely effective at bringing the John Doe investigation into focus. I’m sorry pundits weren’t sufficiently entertained — Barrett got the job done.

The Journal-Sentinel’s initial coverage is pro-Barrett, with a little reading between the lines. fact-checkers are calling out some Walker lies (everything Walker said was a lie). The “false” for Barrett was when he effectively said that Walker pulled his employment numbers out of his ass — I guess that wasn’t quite accurate because we don’t have the video.

It’s all about turnout. While I agree with a lot of people who don’t understand why this isn’t a slam dunk (I don’t either and I was born, raised and went to college in WI) I also believe that winning this election will be a wind-at-our-back. A loss will be played up by Republicans like crazy and embolden Republican governors across the country. DWS was anemic today in more bracing for a defeat. I do not understand the position of the DNC on this race. I mean literally — I do not understand. Yeah, yeah I know that money was sent although there is some dispute. But there was no strong message from the party.

What is disturbing is that WI Democrats will feel betrayed by national Democrats and it will cool some PBO support. I’m hearing that this is a sentiment on the ground in WI — I have friends actively working there. I think some big name Dem’s should have been sent. Big gun Republicans are there. At this point if Biden were sent, it would be spun as desperation. I’m not pleased with how the party has handled it. OFA has been on the ground from the beginning. It should not stick to PBO but some of it will if Barrett does not win.

              They were baiting us.
The Unions should have taken over, and matched the outside money. They could have. So, why not???

                May 26, 2012 at 8:32 am

Unions are spending money for Barrett. Yes, they should have done so quicker than they have, but they are.

Let’s be clear – I DO NOT think PBO should go to WI. However, the optics of organized, unbridled support by Republicans gives Walker momentum. I’m talking to people who live in WI, never voted for Walker, have demonstrated, worked on the recall and are working on the election. These are not whiners who have sat in their chairs drinking beer complaining about their state. They did it all on their own to recall enough state senators to bring back balance to their state legislature. They’ve been working very, very hard and they feel that their party doesn’t care very much, when the RNC cares a whole lot. They’ve done this whole thing on their own. Do not shoot the messenger.

I’m a tad annoyed at this ‘they got what they deserved” when there are people in WI who have been working to fix this for a year and a half. A loss is WI makes our job more difficult November. IMO.

If the people of Wisconsin are going to emotionally boycott President Obama because he doesn’t correct the mistake THEY made, after he told them not to hand the keys back, then they’re a lost cause. They don’t actually understand the dire circumstances that they’ve brought onto themselves. This is not about the President. He’ll be fine. Over her eight terms as a Congresswoman from Maryland’s Eight District, Connie Morella earned a reputation one of the strongest voices for women’s rights and reproductive choice in the Republican Party. A bipartisan-minded moderate, she worked with members of both parties to shepherd the 2000 re-authorization of the Violence Against Women Act through the House with a 415 to 3 majority. Like former Sen. John Danforth (R-MO), she hardly recognizes her party today.

    ///

While she thinks the economy will be the biggest issue in the 2012 elections, she warns that if House Republicans insist on a Violence Against Women Act that says “except certain women,” it could hurt the party in November.

Morella says she’s disappointed with where the Republican Party has gone. “If I were there, I’d be one of the minorities voting against the party. There’s no big tent, not even a small tent. It collapsed.”

    From PBO’s speech yesterday:

“And the problem with our economy isn’t that the American people aren’t productive enough—you’re working harder than ever. Productivity is through the roof. It’s been going up consistently over the last decade. The challenge we face right now—the challenge we’ve faced for over a
decade—is that harder work hasn’t led to higher incomes. Bigger profits haven’t led to better jobs. And you can’t solve that problem if you can’t even see that it’s a problem. (Applause.)”

    Can I repeat this?

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama will meet with Philippine President Benigno Aquino III on June 8 at the White House.

The White House says Obama looks forward to discussing the strategic, economic and “people to people” ties between the U.S. and the Philippines and their cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region.

Obama has said the U.S. needs to deepen its engagement in the fast-growing Asia Pacific region, calling it critical to the nation’s security and economic prosperity. The Philippines is a longtime ally of the United States.

Btw- for everybody that is mad at the President for not going to Wisconsin, with His magic Hammer.
This whole recall was a trap. At the State level, the Koch brothers have targeted Wisconsin. And because of Citizens United, they could have dumped 100 million bucks into that race.
The 25 million that Walker has, is peanuts to what they could have done.
They were just waiting for the President and His Team, to spend Money there.
    It was a Trap.
Thus, Wisconsin is going to be Won, State Senate wise, city council wise, etc.
Start small and win back the Populace.
    Imho…

Nice one Jovie. People who swear they know politics (I’m looking at you Ed Schultz) didn’t see what was right in front of them. Walker and his ilk would have loved to turn this recall on its head and make it a referendum on PBO. Seems like The President and everyone on the ground knew the importance of keeping it local.

BTW how did Barrett do last night?

Of course, Chris Hayes has a black guy on slamming the President in his Race to the top program. Which he called just a different name fir no child left behind.
False. But not pushback, no Obama administration Person to defend Race to the Top.
    Ugh!
