Back later ;-)
Okay, it’s really me & Amk, but I had to hurry.
Congratulations vc! You and amk have been on a roll lately and having fun too! :-)
Thanks, GG; our relay team seems to be hitting its stride. At least, that’s what I want to believe. Of course I also want others to share in the first place euphoria, so I’m somewhat conflicted.
Don’t be conflicted. We all have a shot and it’s fun trying and seeing who actually gets “First”.
Yeah, you’re right! I’m thoroughly enjoying the fun part of it, even the whining when I don’t make it. ;)
LOL! your whining entertains us too.
Re: Iowa. My OFA group was tasked last weekend for calling Iowa supporters and getting them signed up to go to the events.
Same here. California pitched into for the turnout. SO glad it was a great showing.
The Kochsters have money. We have people. People will win.
Love your attitude, LL!!
As I told the wonderful person from Guatemala with whom I had a Twitter exchange yesterday, there’s a constant battle in me between optimism and pessimism. Optimism is the harder path, but ultimately the most rewarding.
Couldn’t agree with you more. It’s a constant lesson, but HOPE wins out.
Yup. Hope and Optimism is always the better side. They win in the end.
Thanks LL & Meta & all those who participated in calling. What a nice reward to see the results of your combined efforts! And yes LL it’s that last thought that HELPS to keep me from despair when I hear how much money so and so spent on negative ads. ‘People will win’!.
My teams made calls Tues & Wed and we had a lot of positive responses from the people in Iowa so I’m very happy to see the smiling faces in the pictures!
Way to go, GG! TY. I absolutely refuse to believe the MAJORITY of Americans will vote for the opposition. They have a lousy record, have nothing new to offer and are quite uniformly unpleasant. The majority of Americans cannot be so deluded again!
You are so right vc.
I’m sure about very little in this world except one thing. PBO will win re-election by a much much wider margin than he did his first term. The House will turn BLUE with 300 Dems/Progressives and the Senate will turn BLUER with 65-70 DEM seats. This is the GOP’s last hurrah. They will never regain the WH, the House, and Senate because this country is turning all shades of brown. We need to keep doing what we’re doing though – providing visible support for PBO and a BLUE Congress. Keep in mind, we are a VERY DIVERSE CONSUMER SOCIETY. WE ARE THE JOB CREATORS. People who are growing their wealth on our backs understand this. What you are seeing with the namecalling, hate mongering, and lying about PBO’s character and policies is the white noise. This type of noise usually dissipates following the DEM convention. Then it will disappear altogether by August. Don’t forget the GOP is doing this to a President who pursued BIN LADEN like a supervirus and laid in wait for those pirates off the Somali coast who AMerican captain hostage. PBO has the patience of JOB so don’t let his approach fool you. LYIN MITT is the cowardly lion who roared and roared until someone roared back. Then he went and hid under the nearest skirt with his tail between his legs.
Great confidence. You are right: the man who became President (son of single mom, biracial, from Hawaii, named Obama) who had the patience and fortitude to get bin Laden, surely has the stamina and sagacity and charisma to get Romney. And, as does President Obama, I firmly believe in the core decency of the majority of the American people. We do support taking care of one another and the principle of a fair shot for everyone and everyone playing by the rules and paying his/her fair share.
RIGHT ON…RIGHT ON…..
THE PEOPLE UNITED CAN NEVER BE DEFEATED!!!!!!!!
That’s the Truth. LL! Money is supposed to be the milk of politics, but money isn’t everything if you have people on your side.

Good Afternoon, Chips! Haven’t seen you since yesterday. ;) I love the pictures. [psst! You might want to remove one of those pictures before SnarkK notices that the President appears to have blurred the lines between politics and religion by blessing that smiling little girl.]
Photos from PBO events are always so sweet and heartwarming. Nothing like it to compare. It’s just simple and pure love and respect.
I was just thinking of all I see in the faces…love, respect, admiration, hope, joy, pride, gratitude, and an element of being transported to a better place.
Good west coast morning Chipsticks and TOD family :-)
Yes, my SoCal OFA Team made calls last week to Iowa also and I’m happy to see the nice crowd that turned out to see POTUS.
Good day TODers

Good ad. However there’s an unfortunate typo in the very end of the ad. Says “honor’s” instead of “honors”. :(
You saw that too, eh? Nevertheless I sneaked a tweet of it too.

Hello TODville, happy Saturday to my fellow TOD citizens… WTG VC!!!! Back to lurking mode…Wishing you all a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. A universal bow to all the men and women of the USAF! And a prayer to all the families of those men and women.
A blessed Pfingsten/Pentecost/Whitsunday!
Thanks, and a very good evening to you, CJ! Isn’t living grand? ;)
Here is one surefire reason that President Obama is re-elected–people just cannot get enough of him. This includes not only the general pubic the way that they throng him everywhere he goes but this includes the silly media. The American public cannot get enough of him in a good way while the silly media cannot get enough of him in an obsessed way.
yes, I’ve often wondered why the media has turned on PBO – probably to push him around cause they know that he doesn’t really think very much of most of them. I mean they’re really quite stupid most of them. You can tell when he gets a rare, intelligent question (usually from a member of the foreign press) that he is relieved not to be wasting time having to answer some moron like Ed Henry or Chuck Todd. But say they vote in Romney – who is a massive bore – what will happen to ratings and print media etc. I live OS and even here they breathlessly report on most things PBO – if we’re talking money PBO is good for the media business – not to mention that he is far superior in every way and absolutely deserves another term.
The media was never with PBO, so they haven’t “turned on” him. They are continuing the obsessive scrutiny that started since 2007. While they resent him, he’s an interesting person on so many levels and a ratings getter. So they are fascinated but resentful at the time – hence the obsession.
well-said; about sums it up–the media
The media is never with ANY Democrat. I can’t honestly recall any Democratic candidate for president or any Democratic president who did not face a press corps that leaned to the Republican side. The older generation of reporters were better at appearing more balanced. The media was far less consolidated and they had to adhere to a code that “seemed” fair. Today they just let all their prejudices hang out for the world to see. And it ain’t pretty.
I was born and raised in Iowa, my Grandfather, a Democrat, studied politics, voted in every election all of his 94 years. If he were alive he would be first in line to meet PBO, support him, I just know that to be true. Of course, I would have to be there to push his wheelchair. I am a reader, not a contributor to TOD, don’t know how found you, am ever so glad I did. I tell all I talk politics with, go to TOD for the real information, great minds, referrals to great information. You TOD got me fired up to volunteer to join group, to make phone calls and be actively involved to get our Great President reelected. Everyone THANK YOU and have a great holiday weekend.

A very happy birthday to Eliyahson, who is spending his ninth in our Lansing field office!
Happy Birthday Eliyahson! Thank you for helping all the folk at @OFA_MI
Multiple choice; LOL
Mitt is so twisted. He will say and do anything. He has a gazillion dollars. Al he wants is power now Come November he will be riding into the sunset on his Missouri Fox Trotter horse!
The weird part to me is he seems astonishingly oblivious to the fact it’s all documented.

CHRONICLING MITT’S MENDACITY, VOL. XIX
By Steve Benen (Steve has more than enough material for a book deal.)
1. In an interview with Mark Halperin, Romney argued about President Obama, “Did he hold unemployment below 8%? It’s been, what, 39 months now. That hasn’t happened. He promised it would happen by virtue of his stimulus.”
As Romney surely knows by now, that’s simply not true.
2. In the same interview, Romney asked, “Are people happy with … the level of foreclosures?”
Romney was trying to attack the administration, but he’s on record supporting more foreclosures, making this, at a minimum, wildly misleading.
3. Romney added, in reference to the president, ” Look at him right now. He just doesn’t have a clue what to do to get this economy going. I do.”
Actually, Obama’s jobs agenda, unveiled in September, included specific policy proposals that Romney had previously endorsed. If the president “doesn’t have a clue,” then Romney doesn’t have a clue.
4. Romney went on to say, “I actually lay out a plan to get us to a balanced budget within eight years.”
That’s plainly false. Romney says his plan “can’t be scored,” but independent budget analysts have found his agenda would make the deficit bigger, not smaller, and add trillions to the national debt.
CBS News Claims Obama’s Bain Attacks ‘Not Sticking’ Based On…Nothing
Like gullible hicks painting Tom Sawyer’s fence, everybody is getting in on the effort to defend Mitt Romney and Bain Capital from the candidate’s own discredited claims of job creation.
Aside from weak-tummied Democrats, the mainstream media has abetted Romney in his effort to make the whole mess go away, as best exemplified by a CBS News piece that claims the attacks aren’t resonating, without any real evidence to support that claim.
If it wasn’t sticking as they claimed, they would not freak out like this.
That must be why Team Obama is stepping up the attacks because they aren’t working. Dream on CBS.
If it wasn’t working, then why are the Romney camp so afraid of the ads? Why are they making such a big deal of the ads being shown? CBS is just like all the other media, full of alot of B.S.
Exactly AB. The reason everybody is having a cow over the ads is because they have been effective. Real people talking about how Bain impacted their lives. Not to mention that masterful response that President Obama gave at the NATO press conference. You can always tell when PBO has hit a nerve. The media gets very cranky. They just don’t like it when President Obama makes the Republican Party look bad. They are criticizing the ads because they want them to stop.
Romney says look at my time at Bain as his main qualification for being president. When you investigate his time at Bain, you are accused of attacking him and capitalism. I have never seen this much whining and crying from a politician. Talk about thin skinned. Romney makes it seem like there is some special one to one mapping of his Bain experience and running the country. It’s an absurd notion. That alone should disqualify him. He has gone through unbelievable contortions to turn making money for investors into creating jobs. You can’t put that square peg into a round hole.
President Obama already gave Romney the 411 on the real job description of the President of the United States. PBO has already demonstrated that a MBA is not a prerequisite being president. President George W. Bush was the first MBA president, and we all know how that turned out.
Great comment, Ladyhawke! Hope you don’t mind–I copied and pasted it, and sent it to a few people on my email list. I told them I “saw this comment from someone on “the obama diary”, and that “I couldn’t have said it better myself”. ;-) I frequently send the main posts from this blog to people on my email list (I signed up for emails from chipsticks long ago), so they’re very much familiar with it. I’m not on facebook (I just refuse, lol…even though my family and friends are constantly nagging me to get on there–and, I just say “I know, I know”; although, I think they’re finally giving up on me with that). But, my father posts some of the things I send him from here once and while on his facebook page. It gives it a chance for some of my parent’s “conservative” friends (particularly from church) to see outside of their box, too.
And, not only that, but even some in the “black media” have gotten in on the complaining–Earl Ofari Hutchinson posted something, I think, on eurweb.com (that’s “electronic urban report”) entitled something like “President Obama should stop attacking Bain and focus on his own record”. Even though he is already touting his record as well. And, besides, I think he needs to do both. Why should Romney get a free pass? Especially when he’s already getting one from the media anyway?
Tweeting your last line Lh.
I sent CBS News a email and ask them what kind of proof do they have in order to say that the Bain ads are not resonating. I ask them to show the proof they have.
Of course, the Bain ads are “not resonating with CBS” The general public on the other hand think differently. That’s why everyone is freaking out. How dare a democrat attack a GOP candidate “it’s just not done” in the village bubble.
I would bet you money that the Obama campaign’s inside polls tell a different story from the media. I am so glad that they are going to double down on Bain.
If they can’t handle Bain, how are they going handle his record as Governor, his offshore cash, and his tax records? The guy has been running for Six years now, you would think he have a ready answer.
I’m going to tweet that Margie, it’s too good…..,,,,,,
So true, Mitt has been a peptuual campaigner; yet, let the RWNJ’s our President is always campaigning.

Liberal Librarina, thanks again for your great work. HZ
Happy, happy, joy, joy for another great getin up day in O town. How are all of you TOD bods? One thing we will never, ever, see from the Mitt campaign are camera angles of crowd shots at any of his indoor events. We will see him and maybe the first few rows. We’ll see tight angle shots of the people standing immediately around him. They’ll be a hand or two in the rope line, an occasional traumatized baby being held backwards, and/or a few sour-faced seniors waiting for the free lunch they were promised.
My political take for today is: When MItt loses, he should be watched closely in a secluded place so as not to do harm to himself. He’s invested too much time, money, and mental preparation for this self-ordained privilege of being the CEO of the USA America Corp.
You are absolutely right about that. Comparison–they can’t stand the thought but there will no way to avoid it.
I’ve been away for a couple of hours–went to the pool for first time this year. I scrolled through the rest of the last thread and I have to make one comment: The thing about J. Roberts messing up the oath and that it was likely planned–I have always thought that. I thought it the very second it happened and I knew I couldn’t be the only person who believed that way. Very sad!!
Not only that, but Cheney’s supposed back problem from lifting boxes that had him wheelchair bound, was to avoid having to stand for the next President of the United States of America. Cheney has probably never lifted a box in his entire political career.
Agree again. That man is pure evil and I don’t like saying that about anyone, but truth is truth.
Yeah, but in the process..all cheney did was come off as an impotent old orge. If desrespect was what he intended then it only went Blowback on him.
cookemom – I can’t begin to tell you how many times I’ve heard that same Cheney theory from a friend. I really try never to wish anyone any harm, but there’s nothing wrong in my book with just sitting back and watching how karma progresses. I also agree that Roberts did what he did on purpose.
Funny tnmtngirl, I thought the same thing when it happened. I also thought I was probably the only one thinking that way. Never mentioned it to anyone for fear of sounding like my one “conspiracy theory” relative who drives me crazy. Part of the RW de-legitimatizing of PBO? Roberts is Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States of America, and he cannot remember the oath of office at the Inauguration of the first African American President of the United States of America??? Suuuurrrreeee….
Interesting, lmrj. I never mentioned to another person either. Had kept that to myself all this time. lol
Tnmtngirl, I want you to know that you are not the only one who gave thought to the actions of Chief Justice Roberts on that historic day for our nation. POB is a brilliant mind, and Chief Justice is also, but not as brilliant as POB. Fact. However, why would Chief Justice Roberts and his buddies, not realize that the oath of the President of the United States would not be written in the brain of POB. POB is not a foolish man, and he knew those words inside and out, and most of all what they meant to speak them correctly. Verbs, adverbs, in right positions. That is the folly of ugly spirits, Chief Justice Roberts knew what he was doing, and I have never doubted that. Plain and simple.
Also, tnmtngirl and my dear family here, Mr. Cheney knew exactly what he was doing. That was such a fake. I said it when I saw it, and I still believe it. Cheney Never wanted to stand to honor POB and Never will, but he will pay for his ugly deeds. I Never brought that story either. I have asked God to forgive me, but I usually do not think ugly of people, and I do pause before I allow my thoughts to take root in my space and heart, but I have peace about those two actions about those two means. I am so happy that POB had the wisdom to make sure that his attorney had the wisdom as well to agree and POB had Roberts to come to the WhiteHouse and administer the Oath of Office for the President of the United States again and with witnesses. Brilliant POB.
We all know what we are up against, but I will stand by my spirit of goodness, my faith, and my hope for great and wonderful things to happen with our works for our beautiful president. Let us PRESSON and move FORWARD. We are going to make this one. Love you all so much. HZ
As usual, HZ, perfect thoughts and expressed the way I wish I could. Thank you. Yes, we know what we are up against and, like you, I believe hope and love and the goodness of the American people will win. I read a quote by VPB a few days ago and this is a paraphrase, but he said something like: Never, never have the American people let him down…….he believes they “get it” (definite paraphrase there) and he has complete faith in them.
Press on FORWARD!!!!!
HZ – I’m catching up reading today’s comments and your “That is the folly of ugly spirits” just hit me. So well said. Sad but true, I’m afraid. We will PRESS ON, move FORWARD, and prevail in November, to get our dear President re-elected for 4 MORE!
Just to add, everyone in my family (myself included) thought the exact same thing. And, btw, I have a “conspiracy theory” auntie too–I think she’s hilarious though :-)
Yes, well we thought the same thing about Roberts and Cheney. Sounds like we were raised not to hold hate in our hearts and that’s a good thing. I find it very difficult to wish anything bad to to happen to anyone. My husband doesn’t have that problem. He has a solution for all hateful Republicans – of which I cannot repeat here. Of course, I know he doesn’t really mean what he says, but he’s really disgusted with the way PBO has been treated from 2007 to this day.
I am with your husband and will say it. Kill’em all since they are cancerous to a sane society.
Sharing the link to an excerpt re PBO which I’m hooked reading as I have no intention of giving this guy the satisfaction of contributing to his book sales. Figured some of you might want to check it out too….. I’m off to finish it
Just like it was with Jodi Kantor book, I will be the same with this book coming out in June. It’s not for me. As I have said before, the only books I want to read about the Obamas, will be the one Barack and Michelle write anytime after 2017. Other than that I am not interested.
Annieb we are on the same wavelength on this, but since it didn’t cost me anything but time, I wanted to see what was being said here. I too am awaiting the Obamas own version or a version they endorse. In the meantime I’ll hang on to my hard-earned cash. I don’t intend to help enrich any of the parasites angling for their moment of fame and riches at the O’s expense.
Can’t no body tell a story like the people the story is about. When I say what I say I am not trying to influence anyone else, that is just how I feel.
‘I am not trying to influence anyone else’
Oh that I know Annieb. If there’s one thing I’ve learned about you it’s that you have very strong feelings on certain issues and you’re not hesitant to say what you think, whether others agree or not. I can handle that.
I don’t think its like Jodi Kantor’s at all. The level of research here is nothing like what she did.
He, unlike Jodi Kantor, was granted interviews with the President who commented on his own memoir and other issues.
Chips and all, 30 minutes to the Eurovision Song Contest Finals. The Russian Grannies will be singing again.
PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH, THE FIRST MBA PRESIDENT
Introducing America’s Second MBA President
The Republican presidential nominee has an MBA from the prestigious Harvard Business School. He made millions in the private sector and earned notoriety for running a high-profile sports enterprise. The GOP’s man is promising massive tax cuts which would deliver the lion’s share of their benefits to the very richest Americans, himself and his family included. He nevertheless pledges to balance the budget even while boosting defense spending. And this latest scion of a proud Republican family would like to privatize Social Security and leave Americans to fend for themselves in the private health insurance marketplace.
If that profile sounds like Mitt Romney, that’s because it is. Then again, the same description also applied to America’s First MBA President*, George W. Bush. And we all know how well that worked out.
Last week, the RNC’s Alexandra Franceschi gave away the game when she explained that 2012 GOP economic platform would be the Bush program, “just updated.” If anything, she understated the disturbing similarities between the two men of Harvard.
A great afternoon to my beautiful TOD family! I’m looking forward to a romantic evening as I watch my cousin and her handsome Marine renew their wedding vows after 26 yrs of marriage. Couldn’t ask for a more gorgeous day here in VA. Love is in the air!
Hi Dudette, that’s sounds like it will be quite special. Have a wonderful time with your cousin, other family and friends, BUT do remember not to get too carried away yourself! ;)
Thanks vc! Too late though, I’m already verklempt! Ugly crying will commence as soon as I see groom in his uniform. By the time my dad walks bride down the aisle I’ll have gone thru half a case of tissues. :-)
In that case I might as well take back the warning and send a carton of tissues instead, and a request to at least keep the crying quiet – none of those loud sobs of joy, if you know what I mean. ;)
Indeed! I might need to keep the sunglasses handy too :-)
Amen to that! My husband was in the Navy for 20 years. Seeing him in his uniform, especially his dress uniform…OMG. BUT! My brother was a Marine. Hands down, a Marine in dress blues, makes me weak. And full of pride. Let the tears stream….! Congratulations to them after 26 years. Takes a special person to understand the needs and sacrifices a military family makes.Hugs and continued happiness to them.
Sho nuff df! I couldn’t be more proud of them!
Dudette, oh how lovely. You all are going to make me drink all of my bottles of wine in my rack. This little senior is going to become a little “wine mama.” Not really, but I enjoy love in the air. I am a hopeful romantic lover of those who find it, enjoy it, respect it, and love to the highest level while in it. So much happiness to you and your beautiful family today. Enjoy yourself, and wear the sunglasses, that is also a classic of mine as well. A few kleenex might help as well. But most of all, enjoy every moment of this beautiful celebration. I will lift a glass for your celebration. I just opened a lovely bottle of a new white that a friend brought over for me. Nice and mellow, so be as happy as you can. Love you, HZ
I made a new friend from Va. today. I’m visiting daughter and fam in Ct. and was at granddaughter’s soccer tourney this a.m. I moved my chair into the shade—-hot here—-and ended up sitting next to a visiting grandpa from Va. We found we had a lot in common—both were here to attend granddaughters’ orchestra concert the other night and both our granddaughters were on same soccer team. Found out he was a retired engineer, still teaches robotics in public schools, talked about schools, education, class sizes etc. etc. and danced around politics for a bit but eventually discovered we were both Obama voters. So had a nice little chat about that. He thinks PBO has a good chance to carry Va. again. I said I think he has a good chance to carry Illinois again. :) Saw some OBAMA bumper stickers in parking lots too with cars from all over the northeast. Have still not seen one bit of evidence anywhere that Romney is even in the running. Nothing anywhere. Heading back out to another game—-whew—–and starting long trek home to illinois tomorrow.
Am liking this report, thanks Dotster!
Agreed! Contrary to what the talking heads tell us, PBO has many supporters. As to no evidence Romney is running for anything, I have see Obama bumper stickers and Ron Paul. No Willard to be found.
Dotster, as I’ve mentioned many times, I am in the red portion of PA. I’ve seen a fair number of Obama signs, some for Ron Paul and even a few for Santorum. But I have not seen one sign or bumper sticker for Romney. He’s still the “generic” R that people referred to early on in the primary polls. People just don’t know who or what he is.
No one knows any thing about Romney, not enough info for anyone to think he is “better for the economy” and certainly not enough info for him to get any higher than 40% in any polls. In most of the country the only info on Romney comes from those silly “he said/she said AP articles. He’s only mentioned as the “former governor”, the only time I have seen Bain mentioned is when Newt was attacking him and Bain. The only other things anyone knows about him is that he put the dog on top of the car and that he is a bully. He is going to have to sell himself to voters, but it doesn’t look like he plans to do that. So we are down to POTUS and Ron Paul.
He doesn’t plan on having to sell himself to voters because he knows he can count on the media to do that for him.
The media and the negative ads.
I went to a two and a half hour Memorial Day parade in our Republican-leaning town–the biggest Memorial Day parade in the state. Because it’s so huge, every year the sitting governor marches in the parade along with a lot of other elected state officials. For years Ed Rendell came and, even though he was a Democrat, he got a lot of applause and people calling out (in good humor) and waving to him. I never thought much of Fast Eddie Rendell, but people responded to him. Today Corbett walked in the parade and I heard—nothing, No applause, no calls, and no waving. I thought I must have missed something. How could an R Governor walk the parade in the an R town and not get roars of acknowledgement. I asked our local and only Democratic Councilwoman if she had noticed the silence, too. She gave a little smile and a nod. This is the guy who won in a landslide in 2010 against a Democrat with common sense and an engaging personality. There’s definitely some shifting in the environment and a lot of tarnishing of the GOP brand in this state. That’s why the president’s campaign plans to make direct links between Corbett’s policies and Romney”s. Good strategy.
Nice to hear, jackie….nice to hear. Maybe they’re finally beginning to wake up from their stupor!
Thanks for that report Jackiegrumbacher. Times are changing. We will keep our hand, feet, heart, and mind focus on what we have to continue to do, get the message out. I believe that a strategy to focus on these GOP governors by DNC and the campaign is going to be a good one, especially as they link Romney with them and vice versa. PRESSON and move FORWARD. We will keep the prayers and good meditations on what this election means to millions of us, and I do believe we will have a victory for us on Nov. 6, 2012. ((((((((( We Have Your Back Mr. President))))
Thanks for report! Corbett is the worst Gov we’ve had in a very long time.
I’ve been talking to more and more republicans in my area who are startng to wake up. While most have not yet committed to voting for PBO, they have at least taken off the blinders and are now giving him a real look and listen.
yeah, when the policies they voted for start to affect them in their own homes, they tend to see things differently.

Simply priceless! This must be retweeted over and over again.
What does #FF on Twitter mean? Saw my name in a #FF list.
I think it means “Follow Friday” Each Friday tweets go out for others to follow. You have done great with Tweeting which caught the eyes of others! :)
Oh. Thanks for the explanation.
Maher made a parody of birtherism……
Bill Maher shredded the return of birtherism by becoming a wifer, and asking how many wives does Mitt Romney really have?
Maher said, “Mitt Romney comes from a Mormon background. I don’t know how many wives he has. I am not saying I believe in that. I am just saying he was born on a Mormon compound. I’m not a wifer, but for some reason he has never shown his original marriage certificate.”
I don’t like Maher, although I was glad when he gave 1 million to the campaign, he has a tendency to dismiss the President’s accomplishments, well one week he does, the next he doesn’t….he’s very inconsistent……but man, does he ever nail it on that one. It was like watching an anchor at Fox…..
When people say there’s no difference between parties, it angers me.
President Obama would never campaign with a ”wifer” if there was such a movement and would sharply condemn such attacks, the same as Democrats in power..
Jon Boehner once said about birtherism : Well I can’t control what people think.
Romney says: I ACCEPT that he was born in the US…..what is there to accept? …..but then raise money with a racist birther.
That’s the difference between both sides….
I thought he was funny last night with the ‘wifer’ new rules. He isn’t always funny but he does take shots at the GOP no matter who is on his panel. His personal opinion is not a secret and he’s entitled to it but he does seem to support the president overall.

The city of Newport Beach spent $35,043.04 on police officers when President Obama stopped in Corona del Mar in February for a campaign breakfast, and revenue officials have sent his campaign an invoice to recoup the costs.
City Manager Dave Kiff said the invoice was his idea.
“I think it is appropriate to treat it like a private event — if another private event that large and which required that much police presence occurred, we would bill the event sponsor,” he said in an email. “If the president was here on presidential business, we likely would not have billed for that.”
The invoice is dated May 10 and is due June 9.
The expenses include costs for a police lieutenant, sergeant, two officers, a reserve officer, a senior dispatch officer, a community service officer plus overtime.
The memo was sent from the city’s Revenue Department to the Obama for America office in Chicago. As of late Thursday, there had been no response or payment, said Newport Beach spokeswoman Tara Finnigan.
The Feb. 16 breakfast was held at the Shore Cliffs home of Jeff and Nancy Stack. Entrance cost $2,500 per person, with a $10,000 photo reception and breakfast option and a $35,800 “greet + breakfast” option, according to the invitation.
Newport Beach is a conservative, affluent city. The median income is estimated at $107,007 (California’s median income is $60,883) and registered Republicans outnumber Democrats three-to-one.
Pretty tacky and I wonder if a Republican would have been billed for a visit like Obama was.
They will probably pay it…but I wouldn’t….there is no statute on the books about this. Plus….don’t you have to actually have a signed agreement before you can bill for services ?
oh.. and another thing….he was there in Feb….why did they wait 3 months to do this?
Bush was in Irvine, CA and no one billed him….then who would go to see him.
I heard this on my local news and I was stunned until I found out where it was. Typical!
Interesting, Linda. Newport Beach at one time was a lovely place to visit, live, eat, and share in many lovely evenings of great music, but it has become one of those beach cities in Orange County that dems are very few, and the others are plenty and fierce in their ugly ways. I stop going there years ago after an encounter at Nordstrom and a lovely restaurant there. I do not spend my money or time in spaces where I detect ugly attitudes and ugly treatment. The Dems there are people with money, but lovely. I am sure POB and OFA will take care of …. oh, I better shut up now. We are going to be fine. Remember the ugly heads will continue to rise, so let us do what we have to do and be able to settle down a little and really try to enjoy our president in this his second term. Oh, what a joy this is going to be. Keep smiling, telling those off who need to be told off, and doing all that we are capable of doing to rise above this ugly and silly season. The goodness of our hearts and minds will Prevail.HZ
If i were a Democrat with a little extra dough I would step forward and say, ‘Here you unpatriotic dolts! Karma will get you soon enough.’
Newport Beach is beautiful city and sometimes it hosts Jazz musicians I like to listen to. But, after this tacky behavior, I am now adding it on to Arizona among places I will boycott.
Ok I have to post this tweet in TOD….it’s too funny
Tavis & West? ALLIES?! RT @politico: President Obama’s allies on the left say the poor need more of his attention
Hahahaha….DId you guys know that? With allies like this, who needs ennemies……….Politico is a joke.
Are these jokers STILL playing this song, or is that and old effort?
Scott just purged 180k democrats from the voter list…
Well, so much for registering voters, that is why he is doing it, because we give Him thousands of voters every week.
http://thinkprogress.org/justice/2012/05/25/490678/eligible-florida-voter-governor-rick-scott-purged/ Will make you angry. Hope the DOJ is all over this! That said, I talked to my father today about Scott…he said that Floridians are NOT HAPPY and that he will NOT be re elected. One can hope.
What’s infuriating is not what he’s doing, it’s that people voted for that criminal…….
I read that he is making people apply for unemployment ..on line….and they have to take a math and reading test…..
Anyone from Florida needs to fight against this purging outrage from Scott. Please call the Florida ACLU and ask for help in launching a suit against the government. Call every newspaper, radio or tv station in your area and keep calling them until they get information out on what Scott is doing. Make sure you call and keep calling the Florida Democratic Party and ask them to make as big a story about his as possible. The state party can hold a news conference. Send out people to the media. E-mail DWS and ask what the DNC is doing. Call all of your state reps and tell them you are furious with the governor’s disregard for democracy and you are fighting back. Both the Florida Democratic Party and OFA have access to voter date bases. They can find out exactly who has been purged and then they can organize ways to help these people. These anti-democracy state governments will push us as far as they can unless we fight back hard.
Chips, everyone, check the image in this tweet …. very touching and powerful …

Very good read. . . took this from the article:
8. I’ll vote for Obama because to me he isn’t the problem. He needs a Congress that wants to govern. He needs a party that supports his platform. He needs supporters who will stay engaged. I listen to the endless declarations about “disappointment” in the president and wonder how disappointed he is in his supporters who went homeand watched their hopes drown in “tea”.
I’m likin’ this.
I liked this post very much. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Must-read from the UK Guardian: Obama the college years
This is an unauthorized book by the same person who wrote an unauthorized biography of Bill Clinton. I imagine the book will have many readers. The pot smoking years, the girlfriend who didn’t get the “I Love You Too” response, and such is bound to captivate. I think I’ll wait for the next autobiography, written by the man himself. One thing’s for sure, PBO has made people more money and has stimulated the economy more than any other person.

In more ways than one!!!! I read the excerpt earlier but have no intention of buying it. I wanted to see the tone since it didn’t cost me anything. I must say I think he will get sales because his criticism is subtle, at least in the excerpt. He comes across as reasonably objective and if you don’t know the Pres like some of us do, you could be roped into buying it. I tell you, Pres O’s presidency has opened up my own eyes in so many different ways.
WTH is wrong with these people???? (That was a rhetorical question!)
Oh Good Lord, what ever happened to good old fashioned down on one knee, I love you proposals. Dang things are soo elaborate these days. IDC if it makes me an ole foggie (at 35), but I kinda hate today’s “let’s film everything with my smartphone and post it on youtube for all to see mentality”
Still this is cute.
Isaac’s Live Lip-Dub Proposal
On Wednesday, May 23rd, 2012, I told my girlfriend to meet me at my parent’s house for dinner. When she arrived I had stationed my brother to sit her in the back of an open Honda CRV and give her some headphones. He “wanted to play her a song”…
What she got instead was the world’s first Live Lip-Dub Proposal.

Big smile moment! Have to wonder if that would EVER happen here…good for them.
Dear Mayor Chips and TODvillagers, I am sorry to report that the Russian Grannies did not win the Eurovision Song Contest for 2012 :(
Don’t cry CJ. I would have been surprised if they’d won. Good Night and Sweet Dreams!
sorry about the disappointement. I only hope that they had some fun or the best times of their lives during the duration of the competition.

Interesting essay on Scott Walker:
The guy is simply rotten to the core.
Thank you so much for this, Bob. I’ve linked to it on my Facebook page.
You just wonder sometimes if they were all born into some secret cult or something, if you wanted to really think conspiracy, which I don’t. I really want to think about getting rid of all of these bad governors by voting them out.
something at the back of my mind nudges me into thinking that this slimebag walker will end up being indicted for corruption if he remains in public service – he may well end up in “the big house”
I hope everyone is having a Happy Memorial Day Weekend. I am reading all these positive entries. After reading what a creep Scott Walker is I thought I would bring this over from the rise and shine thread I posted this morning.
I’m so glad to hear Barret won the debate last night. I can’t stand that Koched up, lying, cheating, college drop out, crossed-eyed badger, Scott Brown.
WE ARE WISCONSIN ISSUES TV STATIONS CEASE AND DESIST LETTER ON RGA’S FALSE, MISLEADING ATTACK AD
May 25, 2012
“Given the obvious falsehoods perpetrated by unverifiable numbers fabricated by Scott Walker’s political appointees – all to create a smokescreen around Walker’s worst-in-the-nation jobs record – stations have an obligation to pull RGA ads parroting the same false and misleading statements in their own commercials.”
I sure hope they pull it. ED Schultz needs to S-T-F-U and get back in his fired up mode instead of trying to tell our President what to do. You’d think he’d realize he is giving FOX Noise and hateful RWNJ media more fodder.
“Scott Brown”? They both need to go from their respective states!

Just saw on the news the First Lady’s motorcade with Malia and Sasha in it as well as they have just arrived at Beyonce’s concert tonight. I bet the girls are excited that they have such a cool mom lol.
Obamacrat, I saw the same thing on the news, I can only imagine how excited the girls must be. I just hope FLOTUS is back time enough for POTUS to tuck her in, and she can tell him all about the show. :) Every time I think of the Obamas and Beyonce, I always think of the first couple first dance as Beyonce sung At Last. That was so special.
I am sure Beyonce’ is even moe excited. She absolutely adore the Obamas. I remember her tears during the inauguration. Of course I am sure we all had tears. :)
“Michelle Obama’s dream job? Being Beyonce” – Chicago Sun-Times:
Updated: May 26, 2012 2:10AM
Who would Michelle Obama be if she could be anyone? Beyonce.
“It looks like musicians just have the most fun,” Mrs. Obama explains in an interview with People magazine.
She admitted, though, that there’s one thing she’s lacking — being musically gifted.
The first lady also dished about a bedtime ritual with her husband, the president: He tucks her in at night.
“I’m usually in bed before anybody,” the first lady said. “He’ll come and turn the lights out and give me a kiss, and we’ll talk. He’s like, ‘Ready to be tucked?’ I’m like, ‘Yes, I am.’”
I just know that Chips will supply us with some terrific pictures. (No pressure here, Chips-smile)
That lazy bum. :)

With the war in Iraq over and combat operations winding down in Afghanistan, the United States can now shift focus to other national security priorities around the world, Vice President Biden said on Saturday.
“Winding down these longs wars has enabled us to replace and rebalance our foreign policy,” Biden said during his commencement speech at the U.S. Military Academy in West Point.

mittbot's book vs Obama's book http://t.co/XdltxOri— (@amk4obama) May 27, 2012
? ? ?
I think I get it now, but it wasn’t abundantly obvious to me when I first viewed it. Not an effective graphic if you have to struggle to understand what it means.
Well I got it straight away. And I think it’s pretty clever.
I got it immediately. Maybe the people that “don’t get it” don’t read OR understand what bookmarks are for:)
I read plenty…I don’t put sticky notes in books. I don’t know why other people do either. Sure don’t know why the President would since he has such a good memory.
It’s not about the president or mitt putting up the sticky notes. It’s the reader who puts them up (many do) where they find parts of the book interesting and want to come back and read them. That’s what that graphic is about.
I took it too literally. Sticky notes in books is a foreign concept to me. So is underlining and highlighting books. I’ve never understood why people do that. If something is interesting to me and I want to read it again, I read it again right then.
Well, at least the sticky notes don’t ruin a book.
A sign of a good book is the one where the reader bookmarks and goes back to read the interesting parts.
Sorry, Tien Le..as soon as I posted that,I realized that it may offend someone. amk is correct though. Even if you don’t use those to mark important, insightful or just plain well said parts of a book when you read, that’s what this means, and the fact that the PBO book had important things to say, and Mitt, well…………….not so much. That is all. forgive the comment. It was not right of me to say that.
No worries, sweetie.
US MENS vs SCOTLAND = 2 – 1 18:00
We just got back from a book reading in Iowa City of “My Two Moms” by Zach Wahls, my husband’s second cousin. Zach is the 19 year old student who spoke about being raised by his two lesbian moms during a public forum on House Joint Resolution 6 in the Iowa Legislature in February 2011. Anyhow, he’s become pretty famous for it – wrote a book, been on Lawrence O’Donnell, Jon Stewart, David Letterman, etc. And he’s very engaging to listen to. His mom Jackie is my husband’s cousin, so we were excited to go. Turns out he got to meet PBO in Newton on Thursday – just for a few minutes, but it sounded like PBO knew who he was. Somehow I was not surprised to hear that – PBO is on top of everything!
That is soooo Very Cool, muscatinegal! So happy for Zack Wahls getting to meet PBO, too!
I’m not posting any images, but you all should be aware of what is happening in Syria …
“In a massacre of unprecedented savagery that brings Syria close to civil war, some 32 children and 60 adults have been slaughtered in villages in the Houla area of central Syria. Anti-government militants blame pro-regime gunmen for carrying out the butchery in which children and their parents were hacked and shot to death.”
We are rapidly approaching a “Benghazi moment” in Syria.
Horrific. Just horrific.
I hate to say this, but the only thing that can save them is US boots on the ground.
But not in an election year. They are on their own! Sadly!
Also, this is what happens when you use the military as Police!
FACT: 80% of the money raised by Super PACs has gone to support GOP candidates thkpr.gs/JMxFln— ThinkProgress (@thinkprogress) May 27, 2012
this in NOT an unauthorised book. Unlike Kantor PBO sat down for a lengthy interview with the author who also wrote a book on Bill Clinton. I think PBO was okay with Maraniss writing this book otherwise all his friends wouldn’t have participated – they obviously got the green light. I have ordered the book and am looking forward to reading it. All the stories about how unhappy and wary the whitehouse are has been coming from Politico and other stupid news outlets are repeating the nonsense. And from what I have read the book is very sympathetic to PBO. As for the stories about teen drug taking, etc, I think they are endearing and the truth is they happened – I don’t think PBO likes to be a hypocrite and pretend otherwise. I think he takes responsibility for some of the silly things he may have done – most sensible people do.
Please share what you think. I really enjoyed reading the excerpt posted earlier. I’m leary but intrigued. I told my sister republican heads are going to SPIN, then explode! The president is a pretty introspective fellow, and he knows himself. He’s share the pot smoking, school sliding period in his life with us already.
It is hard though to have an image of your old self out there as represented through other eyes however. One can only hope folks are truthful and candid, but not viewing their past through a distorted lense. PBO as represented by the graphic from amk earlier is like a thick, meaty, complex, rich and nuanced book. Lots of interesting stuff to go back to , ge intrigued by and go back to again and again:smile:
Of course the other way I saw it was the “Obama and Mitt” books are a representation on both men’s approach to like. One simple, and hardly any depth of understanding or lessons learned. The other diving so deep in the depths, full of lessons learned, hard work and study. Full of thought and concurrant action. I’d love to see a reading list of President Obama’s most well read and loved books. Books that have shaped him and left life long impressions. Yeh the Barrack Obama summer reading list- not for the light weigh reader. Heavy lifting required!
I agree: the fact that the president sat down with him for an extensive interview and talked about questions raised from the authori’s interviews from other sources, suggests that this book is very different from the Kantor book. I confess to great interest in all the biographies. Loved Obama’s Brain, The Bridge, and the book on pragmatic liberalism.
So glad to find a positive, uplifting site. I enjoy DailyKos but sometimes peeps can go off the deep end and have you scratching your head. This site inspires with words, links, and photos. I think that I have found a new hone.
