GM folks. vc/amk team wins. Again
Lucky break. Just got back from visiting one of son’s potential future colleges. Logged in. Bingo.
Congrats amk. How did the visit go?
Son liked it. Big campus. Good faculty. Great messhalls (saw it with my own eyes.) Apparently very strict code of conduct.
Will be doing another round of colleges next week…. Here I thought my parental duties were done.
Note to self. Never have kids. Go directly to having grandkids.
Told you, darlin’…the fun is not over yet:) Just about to start! Have kids….the grandkids can wait. Yes…as the mother of a daughter…the grandkids can wait. Maybe in another 10 years…..I wouldn’t trade these times with my kiddos for all the money in the world….the good AND the not so good. They made me a better person:)
This goes for me too, df, I am thrilled that Denea is having such an enormous single, pre-family life! Some of her cousins close in age have children already.. Plus I am in NO hurry to be a grandmother….
Morning Pamela, aren’t you supposed to be out of town? Messing with my mind, you are.
I am out of town, I am out of Seattle, now in the DC area. I thought it was YOU messing with MY mind… Still on Seattle time, but it is working better that way… It’s nice to be here, except the weather is a little too warm for us Pacific NW types!
Morning, Df, how was graduation? It wasn’t like one of those unending ones like we have here, was it?
Hi, vc:) Graduation was incredible! Evening was nice, great little breeze….especially helpful in the desert so we weren’t sweltering. The kids in his graduating class were some of the greatest kids. He really has a great class…I know so many of them from seeing them in elementary school where I teach.
It hasn’t sunken in to my son that he’s really done with high school. I think that may take awhile. The security of knowing “what comes next” has thrown him for a little loop. The realization that his life path is in front of him, and it is his choices now that will matter…is intimidating to him. He knows that he wants to go to community college for 1 year, play lacrosse, and get the feel of college…while getting the difficult classes out of the way in a smaller classroom…then transferring to a university and doing Navy ROTC and having the Navy pay for school (right now, he wants to be a psychologist). He’ll have to give the Navy his summers and 6 years of time….but he says that’s a fair trade if school is paid for and he gets to serve his country.I have no doubt that he will BE someone special and make his way in the world. If I could clone him, I would. He’s such an incredible guy…I’m so proud of him.
And no…the graduation wasn’t too long. Once they got past the speeches, and started calling the graduates, it went pretty quickly. It helped that the weather was enjoyable. Last year at graduation, it was 114 degrees.5 minutes worth of graduation would have been too long that night!
Congratulations on your son’s graduation! I have a son like yours, only he was Canadian when he came to CA, and is now an American living in Philadelphia. He’s also a highly responsible guy. Awesome isn’t it?
Thanks,Betsy:) Yes….VERY awesome, indeed!
The speeches do ME in every time…except when it’s POTUS or FLOTUS!
Your son is at an exciting point and it’s good to see he knows he has options. There’s no rush after all. Sounds like you have a ‘jewel’ in the desert, and you already recognize his worth. Kudos to you, hubby and grandparents for the nurturing over the years.
He IS a jewel! I remember is preschool graduation, and his teacher then, telling me that he was very special…that he was going to make his mark on the world and BE somebody.Stuck with me all these many years.
Congrats again, df. Best wishes for your son. He seems to have a mature head on his young shoulders.
Thank you, amk….to you as well. For a 17 year old, he’s pretty smart. I don’t worry about him. He usually makes good choices, though I wish that he would listen to my guidance just a little more:) That said, he seems to do fine without me….maybe I hold on just a little too tightly….he will always be “my baby”.
Oh, amk, being the mother of a 43-y/o son who keeps insisting, with a wink, that I must have more parental duties inside me to offer him, he’s hoping, along with all of the privileges that the wonderful grandkids give me, I laughed at your comment! I keep telling my son that the goal for me was to cover “the first 18 years,” and then he laughs. But we love them all, right?
Morning Chips & TOD! Congrats amk on #1!
Thx hf. Where you been past coupla days ?
I’m visiting family for the holiday weekend…so been in and out :)
have a blast.
Thanks! Will do :)
Congrats! Gooood morning everyone!

Good morning africa. How you doing my gal ?
Lazy Saturday, thankfully.

Good morning all. It is a bright and sunny morning in Jamaica.
Are you in Jamaica Jamaica or Jamaica New York? I am on my way to JamaicaJamaica next week. Keep it bright and sunny.
VIDEO: Trump on Romney: ‘He’d Buy Companies, He’d Close Companies, He’d Get Rid Of Jobs’
Among those who hate capitalism, apparently, is Donald Trump. Last April, Trump described Romney’s experience at Bain as follows: “He’d buy companies, he’d close companies, he’d get rid of jobs.” Watch it:
Even the Trumpster knows Romney’s agenda.
Yeah, but, the quack has a hate on PObama so he’ll pimp himself out for willard anyway.
Send this to Lis Smith Twitter.
Here is the YouTube:
Here’s a clip of a more real person to wipe out the image of that idiot (whom I didn’t watch by the way)
He is amazing.
And so very real, just like his CIC! Repubs currently have NO ONE TO COMPARE, which is why your poll numbers generally stagger me. HOW CAN THE POLLS BE SO CLOSE??!!
Someone made a point yesterday that it depends on how they call. Cell phone lovers are democrats, land lines, republicans
Maybe, BUT IMO polls shouldn’t be anywhere near ‘close’ because 2012 Repubs have nothing new to offer and the financial devastation that Bush left was partial to neither democrats nor republicans.
This from Joe B is so heartfelt. What a guy!
Wonder if the quack realizes how fuggin ugly he is?
:) Especially the mount! I do not look at him! Makes me sick!
Steve Benen linked to this:
THAT is a powerful read, which indirectly highlights what FLOTUS & Dr. Jill have been doing. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, Toon.
Wow, thank you for calling that to our attention Toon, makes you stop in your tracks to see these pictures.
FLASHBACK: GOP PRIMARY 2008 “WE’VE GOT TO STOP HIM”.
The ‘I Hate Romney’ Club
ANA MARIE COX – February 2, 2008
But this week it was Giuliani who dropped out of the race and endorsed McCain, praising him as an “American hero.”
The endorsement was a reflection of the authentic respect McCain and Giuliani have for each other. But that’s not all the two candidates share. The endorsement deal was solidifed when both campaigns stayed at the Deerfield Hilton in Florida, following the Republican debate in Boca Raton on January 24. The two campaigns’ staff mingled easily over drinks. Acknowledging that his candidate was not likely to survive a defeat in Florida, a Giuliani aide approached one of the McCain senior staffers. Come Wednesday, he said, “Just tell us what want us to do — we’ve got to stop him.”
“Him,” of course, is Mitt Romney, the candidate who seems to be uniting his Republican rivals almost as much as Hillary Clinton. “The degree to which campaigns’ personal dislike for Mitt Romney has played a part in this campaign cannot be underestimated,” says an adviser to one of those rival campaigns. While sharp words have been exchanged between practically every Republican candidate at one point or another on the campaign trail, the aversion to Romney seems to go beyond mere policy disagreements. It’s also a suspicion of what they see is his hypocrisy and essential phoniness — what one former staffer for Fred Thompson called Romney’s “wholesale reinvention.”
REP. BARNEY FRANK ON MITT ROMNEY – THERE IS A MEANNESS AT HIS CORE
VIDEO: Rep. Frank: Romney ‘unburdened by any commitment to any principle whatsoever’
There is literally not a public policy that he has not advocated one side of at one time and one side at the other,” Frank said. “I have never seen a major political figure so absolutely unburdened by any commitment to any principle whatsoever.”
Frank also accused Romney of having “a meanness at his core,” pointing to attack ads run by the Romney campaign against political opponents in previous races and the GOP primary.
“You will not find a more devoted practitioner of the vicious aspects of American politics than Mitt Romney,” Frank said, accusing the former Massachusetts governor of running “the most relentlessly savage campaign against anybody who dare get in his way.”
I keep saying it. There is something unsettling about Mitt, a certain mean-spiritedness, perhaps he and his family see as humor.
thanks amk, you are the best.
Barrette won last night. Those debates are bad for Walker. I hope they have a few more, a way to close the gap and get his message out.
Btw- for everybody that is mad at the President for not going to Wisconsin, with His magic Hammer.
This whole recall was a trap. At the State level, the Koch brothers have targeted Wisconsin. And because of Citizens United, they could have dumped 100 million bucks into that race.
The 25 million that Walker has, is peanuts to what they could have done.
They were just waiting for the President and His Team, to spend Money there.
It was a Trap.
Thus, Wisconsin is going to be Won, State Senate wise, city council wise, etc.
Start small and win back the Populace.
we can help out too by calling friends and family members in WI and reminding them that they need to go out and vote. sometimes people just forget or are not paying attention.
I remember in 2008, Team Obama has a website tool which you could use from any where and call into a particular state and encourage voters to come out. I wonder if this is still in place and if we can use it
The call tool is on ofa website. My sister made calls this morning.
I suggest that we help out WI using the call tool
Happy Memorial Day Weekend neighbors…..
Sometimes my addiction (there’s no other word) to politics and PO doesn’t serve me right……haha…I had some work to finish for Monday and I put it aside because I was too caught up in politics…now I have to finish it this weekend instead of having the weekend off…..arhhhhhhh I could have easily finished it yesterday.
On another topic.
These Bain ads really works and the President’s speeches! The media is freaking out…they expected what exactly? That he would let them attack him viciously and not react?
I couldn’t believe the spin in the media yesterday about this….
The big question for many hosts on MSNBC:
”Are the attacks from the President fair or is he diminished the office?”………it’s unbelievable isn’t it?
And I just saw this on twitter from the Daily Beast:
”The president, for all his cool, has a mean streak – and this week he turned it on Mitt Romney”
Now the President has a mean streak?? Ok you can’t make this up.
So the gay basher, animal abuser, vulture capitalist can attack the President and it’s fine and dandy. The President fights back and he’s mean, or not fair or he diminish the office….
If that’s all the media has to stop the campaign, they fail big time……
*diminishing not diminished,…
The President hit hard and hurt him bad.
Wow, the msm says nothing about Robmes “mean” streak or is perpetual lies and flip flops.
PMSNBC and the rest of the MSM have their panties in a bunch because many of their top employees are bankrolled by corporations like Bain. They also subscribe to the same unethical profit model as Romney did. That is, outrageous UNEARNED benefits for a few, and to hell with the rest. The pundits at MSNBC are for the most part overpaid, under-worked hacks of sub par intellect and questionable scruples.
They are truly threatened by what PBO represents – and they coddle Romney and bigots who associate with him like Ricketts and Donald Trump while flinching at the slightest comment from anyone remotely associated with PBO or the Democratic Party. As I’ve said and will continue to say until the cows come home: The media is a menace to society and a danger to democracy.
Conservative Super PAC ads are looking to tie Obama to wall street and turn off his base. By saying, look at all these former Wall street Guys working for the President, and then throw in that Word- crony capitalism. Ooooo, I am scared.
My take- they are trying to change subject away from Bain.
Robney super PAC is largely funded by Bain.
Their you go…
they have been running that specific ad in my state for more than one month but PBO’s numbers just keep improving and he is very much ahead of mitt the liar in this ultimate swing state
the most telling stat is the one about how many of the Wall Street folks have with drawn their support for the President..
U.S. drivers and President Obama are both benefitting from falling gas prices this Memorial Day weekend.
The nationwide average price for regular gasoline has dropped 18 cents in the last month to $3.65-per-gallon according to AAA, just in time for one of the busiest weekends on the nation’s roads.
While the prices are still high, the decline has sapped some of the octane from GOP attacks on Obama’s energy policies.
“I think whenever you see gas prices decline, you will see these campaigns and parties switch to a different message, because that energy message doesn’t have the same bite it would have if energy costs were high,” said GOP strategist Tyler Harber, a partner with Harcom Strategies.
“I think you will see gas prices and energy start to disappear from the daily message attacks from Romney and the Republicans until the gas prices begin to spike again,” Harber said.
“Gas prices won’t be as much of a weight on his shoulders as they would have been,” agreed Democratic strategist Chris Durlak. “I think it is one less thing that is going to dominate their narrative, it is one less thing that they have to worry about.”
Our gas prices in Oregon started to go down then rose again. We are over $4 at around $4.27 right now. Highest they’ve been for quite awhile.
SoCal has been above $4 for about two to three months now. They say the West Coast gas prices are down due to fewer refineries and SoCal has about .50 cents in state taxes added to it.
I take the bus but I look at gas station prices here on Kaua’i and it was starting at $4.75 yesterday..I wish they would go Doooown!
Good Morning Dear TODobots! Nice to see you are up and about bright and early! [Man you guys and gals must have a grievance against your beds!] Happy Saturday wishes to everyone, near and far, and to those who are traveling be alert, aware and keep your mind on the ride.
No way, VC, you and I posting within 2 minutes of each other, and me in a DC time zone! We MUST be joined at a Soul level! ;)
 Panela! It’s reassuring to hear you have arrived safely and will not be working for a WHOLE weekend. I love the way you and I are dancing around each other on this thread. I just noticed that you had answered me BEFORE I asked my question – definitely a soul-connection! ;)
 they have all gone about their business for a while, and left me in some lovely solitude. Little doggy sleeping at my feet, the neighbors have donkeys I can see from the dining room table. Have Denea on Skype for a few minutes. The full on part of the weekend will begin this afternoon, so I am grateful for a little quiet time! This will be the only chance I have to greet my Obama Family, tho I will reassure you all the Democrats FAR outweigh the republicans in this family! Hugs and blessings to all, have a great weekend blogging and relaxing. Yes, it is wonderful not to be working, or driving, and to have someone fix my breakfast, I feel so special! Take care, everyone. Love you, Chips! (and you too VC)
Yo’! G’day TODObots! Greetings from Piscataway Maryland! In the bosom of family, sure is hot and humid over here on the right coast! Hugs all around!
Enjoy your time!
Pamela, so happy to hear that you arrived safely. Enjoy your time with family and friends. Create the space that will bring you joy, laughter, hugs, sounds of good music, and great food. Relax and know that you are missed. Have a happy time, dear one. HZ
The Republican weekly address, attacks The Presidents Economy.
Gee, how Patriotic on Memorial Day???
Like the Republicans and G.W. Bush had nothing to do with this economy being bad. POTUS is still trying to clean up Bush B.S.
MANY SMALL BUSINESSES ARE UNAWARE OF THE “HEALTHCARE TAX CREDIT”
I was watching “Your Business” on MSNBC this morning. They had a guest on who said that many small businesses across the country ARE NOT AWARE of the benefits they could be getting from the ObamaCare “Healthcare Tax Credit”. So I am posting this in hopes it can be tweeted so more small business owners can at least check out the website and learn if the healthcare tax credit is something they can take advantage of.
Small Business Tax Credit
Healthcare reform saves small business owners money immediately through tax credits. Small businesses that pay at least 50% of their employees’ health insurance premiums and have less than 25 full-time workers with average annual wages below $50,000 are eligible for tax credits up of to 35% of their healthcare costs. This provision is designed to give small employers some financial relief from high healthcare costs, and more than four million small businesses nationwide qualified for this credit in 2010.
Good morning to my TOD FAMILY. It’s beautiful here in Baltimore at the harbor. I am going to spend the day helping my oldest son decorate my new granddaughter’s room.
My oldest granddaughter will be coming home from Darthmouth next week. My youngest son is so proud of his daughter she will be returning to work at Johns Hopkins Medical school.
Congrats Sonjia – quite an impressive family you’ve got there! Congratulations on the newest family member and your other grand kids. You are the happiest grandma, I can tell :)
More congrats, Sonja.
Blessed day and weekend to all!!!
Wow. Dartmouth. Johns Hopkins. Big names. Congrats to your granddaughter.
WOW, Sonjia! That’s really good stuff…congratulations to your grandkids for their accomplishments.
Sonjia, congratulations on your beautiful news. I just want to say that this is great and beautiful news to hear from all of the wonderful accomplishments of the daughters, sons, grandchildren, sisters, brothers and in some cases mothers and fathers who are receiving their degrees, and all of the wonderful honors during this season of graduations and completing of another year at college and high school.
I admire every student, young and old who continue to make this a better nation by filling the halls of higher learning and reaching for the best that our educational system has to offer in our nation. We give thanks for POB and his Administrations making so many dreams come true to so many families. That is why this little senior will continue to work hard alongside my TOD family to raise awareness as to the accomplishments that POB has made within our Department of Education. We lift him up in our prayers as well as Sec. Arne Duncan and his team to continue to further the goals of POB’s agenda for our schools in this nation.
Congratulations to All of my TOD family members and your family members. I am so proud and happy for all of you. (((((((Hugs those Grads)))))HZ
On CNN….I saw these comments from the birther on Twitter a lot yesterday…..transcript:
TRUMP: Mitt Romney is a basically small business guy if you really think about it. He was a hedge fund, he was a fund guy. He walked away with some money from a very good company that he didn’t create. He worked there. He didn’t create.
CANDY CROWLEY, HOST, CNN’S “STATE OF THE UNION”: He did create companies.
TRUMP: He’d close companies. He’d get rid of jobs. (END VIDEO CLIP)
A lot to take out of that huh?…..”He walked away with some money (A LOT) from a very good company that he didn’t create”…
”He’d close companies, He’d get rid of jobs”
I have to admit that what I noticed right away was this…from Crowley : ”He did create companies”….haha the Republican hack couldn’t help herself, she had to defend her candidate.
I can’t wait for Nov 7.
Me, too. It is so nauseating.
Is any of this true? I know that the GOP won’t fund some of the care for veterans. Why this man wants to blame PBO shows he has not paid attention to the fact that Bush/Cheney did very little to help returning veterans.
I don’t know what’s going on on Up with Chris but it seem to be typical as every week.
@upwithchris To listen to this panel this morning, it appears that GOP and PBO and Dems are twins. Seriously?
@lovelyladypa @upwithchris when did PBO say he was against private equity?
@lawalazu yep, the idea that PBO hasn’t talked about inequality is wrong and as you said a lie
I don’t know how you guys watch this show…..he is not a supporter, he’s a great admirer of Glenn Greenwald….that says it all.
There’s always some radical, OWS, libertarian, emoprogs and whatnot on his show…..this is 2010 all over again, they don’t care if the radical right wins….he sure doesn’t….it’s the most critical election ever but lets help Romney.
CMTL, I know. It drives me crazy and so I watch to push back. Any way, I am just waiting for my ride to show up. Going to PBO headquarters in my town this a.m. to train to register people to vote. Our state is one of those that has even turned off League of Women voters for fear of being fined for helping to register people to vote.
OFA is training us so that we can go out and register people.
It must be Florida?……have a nice day africa!
Not a big fan of Up with Chris, and haven’t ever been. Just when you think he “gets it” he throws a curve ball or two, or three.
E.J. Dionne Jr.: What kind of capitalism do we want?
This leads naturally to the question of how creative the destruction wrought by our current brand of capitalism actually is. Since the dawn of the leveraged buyout era three decades ago, many friends of capitalism have questioned whether loading companies with debt as part of these deals is good for companies and for the economy as a whole.
Does this approach cause unnecessary suffering among the employees of the companies in question and the communities that often lose plants and jobs as a result? Sucking pension and health funds dry to aggrandize investors seems less like a creative act than a betrayal of workers who made bargains with their employers in good faith.
More generally, while some of the innovations in the financial sphere have been beneficial to growth, it’s far from clear that this is true of all or even most of them.
via BJ, a great vid of a young journo cornering and nailing that racist birther bastid coffman. Wish the msm hacks were replaced by young and brave bucks like this.
Locals do a much better job than the MSM.
Billionaire Finds New Role in Effort to Defeat Obama
Mr. Ricketts is continuing to play a provocative role in the effort to defeat Mr. Obama.
He is involved in another effort slated for this summer, a documentary film based on a widely criticized book, “The Roots of Obama’s Rage” by Dinesh D’Souza, which asserts that Mr. Obama is carrying out the “anticolonial” agenda of his Kenyan father.
This too will fail big time…….it’s so 2008,…..
Hopefully rahmbo will take his clan to the woodshed over this. Again.
One bit of good news, Mr. Ricketts’s Chicago Cubs have lost ten straight games.
Ms. Karma sure loves our President. She seems to go after anyone who unfairly targets him.
Is anti-colonialism supposed to be a bad thing?
If you’re Black or have ancestral ties to Kenya , yes.
Of course it’s a bad thing; you can’t build a vibrate nation with pro-union sensibilities. Only through colonization can a nation reach its full potential.
No wonder Rahm still will not except His calls.
This is a big load of tripe from the extreme RW who have NOTHING to work from. Dinesh D’Souza is a Hoover Institution Evangelical. He’s the guy who blamed Abu Ghraib and 9/11 on liberals. It doesn’t get more disgusting than these freaks.
Thank you meta for your comment. I was just about to comment on this D’Souza, but you stated it so well. We are PRESSING ON. Move FORWARD. These people are awful and ugly useless people who spread ugly and hateful lies. There are too many wonderful lives to be saved and children to help in this nation for us to even entertain fools like the likes RW ugly Evangelicals. Hate like this just get them one step closer to Hell.HZ
Obama’s Rage? No-drama Obama? Boy, he sure keeps it well hidden. I guess they gotta go with the “angry Black” man theme. It didn’t work real well with FLOTUS.
And just what’s wrong with an “anticolonial” agenda? That’s how the US went from British colony to independence.
I guess you haven’t heard about his Anger Translator… (warning – very salty language ahead)
Oh yeah…I remember that. Absolutely hysterical. Luther is my kind of guy.
And, that’s one of the beauties of PObama…he can concentrate even though they NEVER CHILL OUT! Lol
I found the link to an acknowledgement of President Obama over at Smartypants. Give her a hit by checking SP’s short writeup
That was Grrreat, vc..thanks for bringing over here. In Espanol, too! And, Mayor Barrett, was in there.
YW, Cha. I like the Spanish too, which I was pleased to see i understood from my forgotten years of HS Spanish. Of course that was helped by the fact I knew what was being discussed (because of course I couldn’t read the rapidly scrolling English.) ;)

As some of you know… I do this acting thing…… and (no, I haven’t booked anything exciting…. dammit)….
But I direct, produce, and act in an annual event at The Huntington Library every October, and this year will be our 10th anniversary.
I’m ridiculously lazy when it comes to getting my shit together, but I’ve taken the step of making a Twitter account for it, and would really appreciate the FOLLOWS from my TOD family. :D :D :D (Yes, I’m a shameless whore like all good union artists are.)
https://twitter.com/#!/DramaAfterDark_ (The UNDERSCORE at the end is important. Someone already ahs @dramaafterdark, and it’s just sitting there, gathering dust. bitch.)
My next step is to edit some of the amazing footage I got last year, and make the WEBSITE & Facebook page.
And Chips, if you’d be so kind, would you please add @DramaAfterDark_ to the TOD Twitter list pleeeease?
Wonderful – I’m following :)
TOD, support the arts!!
Hey Tally, I would love to come. I live about an hour away from Huntington Library. So I will keep watch over your tweets, and will like your FB page when I get a chance.
I am not on twitter yet ( another lazy procrastinator) but I was at your event last year and it was wonderful. I also plan to make it this year too and bring my Mom.
I love the Huntington Library, wish I could be there in October. We will be there in spirit. I will follow you too on twitter.
Tally, I couldn’t make it last year, but I would love to come. I will try hard to stay well, and with that goal hopefully I can come. It would be such a treat to see you and to enjoy your work in the Arts. So say good thoughts for me to work towards that goal of being there. I will follow on Twitter. Pray for no rain, and lovely weather for driving. I love the Huntington. So I will work on it. I would love also to meet some of our TOD family members who live in the area. Love you babe. HZ
Did the "war on women" affect fundraising? More women donating to Obama as Romney's female donors waned: bit.ly/KCgOny #icymi— OpenSecrets.org (@OpenSecretsDC) May 26, 2012
OpenSecrets.org data shows that historically women give far less money to political candidates than men do — so far this election cycle, about 70 percent of the donors are men — but Obama bucks that trend. Overall, about 44.5 percent of his donors are female, and about 30.7 percent of Romney’s donors are women. An analysis of each campaign’s donations on a month-by-month basis shows that, as Obama accused the GOP of waging a “war on women,” his fundraising dollars from women have stayed steady and Romney’s have declined.
In 2011, 44 percent of Obama’s money came from female donors — but in the months of January, February and April 2012 it was up to 46 percent (March saw a slight decline to 45 percent). Obama’s donations from women have kept up with his overall increase in donations — rising from $2.3 million in January, to $4.5 million in April.
Romney’s numbers, on the other hand, have been slipping slightly. The amount he’s received from women has gone up, from $1.5 million in January to $2.5 million in April. But that’s trailed the overall increase in his fundraising. In all of 2011, about 30 percent of his campaign’s contributions came from women and in January, that jumped to 34 percent. But in March, donations from women dropped to 32 percent, and declined further in April to 31 percent.
Ya would think that it would affect Fundraising in a Gigantic Way..by Jove!
Indeed! Just wondering what everyone thinks about the David Maraniss ‘Choom Gang’ revelations? I laughed a lot when I read some of the stories – PBO was very funny as a teenage boy – really, it was all rather endearing – like something out of ‘dazed and confused’. I like the President even more now.
He sounds like a normal kid in a culture that was very experimental with pot. And I think it’s the same now! So his behavior doesn’t shock me at all. Especially compared to someone who viciously attacks nonconformists with scissors and humiliates them by cutting their hair. Romney should have been arrested for a violent assault.
http://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2012/05/obama-and-roberts-the-view-from-2005/257624/# PBO knew even then….PBO’s reasons for rejecting John Robert’s nomination…..
His insight is second to none – conclusion from Fallows
“We have two men who now sit atop two of the three branches of the government. They both laid down markers seven years ago on how one of those men was likely to perform once in office. One of the predictions seems a lot more prescient than the other.”
That is an important article. I have often wondered if Chief Justice Roberts mangled the swearing in oath to PBO on purpose. Roberts is not a humble man.
i thought that the moment it happened. part of the “illegitimate” theme republicans have been building since barack became the frontrunner in 2007-08, and i’m certain that john roberts is/was happy to play along. republican sites were using that for a while and some still are to play into the birther thing too. it was such a historic moment for america and leave it to that guy to try to diminish it. i still think it was planned.
Sometimes i think that i cannot be more impressed…be more in awe of the President…and then i discover something new to impress me….he is an extraordinary man…how lucky are we to have him as our President…

i don’t really like that one. i get what they’re trying to do, but it’s a false equivalence. all this rev. wright stuff is a msm creation from taking a couple of his sermons of out context. he is a marine who fought in vietnam. he’s spent his entire adult life helping his community. he’s been branded by the msm and all their paid pundits as this unstable evil person, when he is not at all.
don chump on the other hand is everything that can go wrong with a human being. there’s literally almost nothing redeeming about chump. comparing the man rev. wright with the little boy chump in any way shape or form is ridiculous, in my opinion, and just falls right into the trap the msm has set.
Good point. Though I think the tweet was more about the msm has become with Rev Wright issue. But you pointed out how it could be misinterpreted.
Rev Wright got in trouble with the MSM for speaking the truth. The country doesn’t like to hear it. Too bad.
I have said this before, and I still believe it, I don’t think all Rev. Wright preaching were all that bad.Alot of things he said, I agree with.
thanks for a sensible commentary on the Rev. Wright thing.

“New Polling: Money in Politics is a Ballot Box Issue”
“”Money and politics is increasingly becoming a ballot box issue. An overwhelming majority of Americans believe there should be common sense restrictions on the amount of money people can contribute to politics and voters–especially independents–will strongly support those who take the issue head-on,” said Stan Greenberg, CEO of Greenberg Quinlan Rosner and Co-Founder, Democracy Corps.
“Key Findings: Money in politics is not a distraction from the economy, it is the economy.
Voters feel strongly about reducing the influence of big money in politics and there is broad-based support to alternatives to the current system.
Voters will strongly support candidates — from both political parties — who seize this issue. ”
Maybe people are waking up.
Everyone have a Happy Memorial Day Weekend
I’m so glad to hear Barret won the debate last night. I can’t stand that Koched up, lying, cheating, college drop out, crossed-eyed badger, Scott Brown.
WE ARE WISCONSIN ISSUES TV STATIONS CEASE AND DESIST LETTER ON RGA’S FALSE, MISLEADING ATTACK AD
May 25, 2012
“Given the obvious falsehoods perpetrated by unverifiable numbers fabricated by Scott Walker’s political appointees – all to create a smokescreen around Walker’s worst-in-the-nation jobs record – stations have an obligation to pull RGA ads parroting the same false and misleading statements in their own commercials.”
I sure hope they pull it. ED Schultz needs to S-T-F-U and get back in his fired up mode instead of trying to tell our President what to do. You’d think he’d realize he is giving FOX Noise and hateful RWNJ media more fodder.
I will Never watch Ed Schultz again…
I am so sick of him…..he really belongs over on Current with Cenk….They are both chronic complainers.
FLOTUS will be attending Beyoncé’s Comeback Concert tonight.
meta, I thought she might, I wonder if Sasha and Malia are going or maybe some adult friends of hers. I hope FLOTUS have a enjoyable time, who knows maybe she will get on stage and sing a song with Beyonce. :)
I can just see FLOTUS dancing and grooving just like the young folks. Boy I would love to be there.
i was interested when PBO first took office and would have press events. he immediately started having ed schultz and sam stein from huffington poo in the front rows and would call them out by name to ask questions. that seemed to fade away over time and i’d never see them or hear them ask questions eventually. i kind of wondered why, but as usual, PBO and his team were realizing something and the consistent undermining of him by schultz and huff poo since shows they aren’t worth the effort on PBO’s part. barack was trying help them get more legitimacy as “new media” outlets, and of course they consistently stab him in the back, never/rarely reporting on the incredible positives, and intense focus on any negative, whether real or completely made-up. i think a lot of the new leading “progressive” mouthpieces are trojan horses to keep “dividing and conquering” democrats as much as possible.
