Congrats on 1st!
Congrats Kari Hope…..being first feels goooood don’t it?
Concur. The warmth just radiates and leaps from the screen.
Oh what a beautiful picture!!
Love the photo! Love both of them! You could tell during the ceremony that she just delights in him, and he in her.
that is so right…he inspires such awe…….
That Mark Knoller tweet about Bob Dylan’s looking uncomfortable near the President was the worst yet. (Loved the Snark comeback!) And to think I spent a couple hours once feeling guilty that I had virtually “bullied” Mark one afternoon on Twitter. Ha! What a waste of good old Catholic guilt.
Jacqueline, never feel guilty about bringing the heat to Mark, he deserves every bit of it and more for his rancid drivel ….
@MarkKnoller #SenMcCain went rogue with #SecessionistPalin, now #BainMitt goes rogue with #BirtherTrump. Party of Koch & Norquist is toxic.— Bobfr (@Our4thEstate) May 29, 2012
Yes, I think I’m over the guilt, Bobfr, king of twitter!
Does he block people on twitter? I don’t think he does actually……I don’t know how many tweets I sent him, as many people do daily,….he gets a lot of pushback….
I sent ONE tweet to Jake Tapper and he blocked me lol
He hasn’t blocked me yet. Tapper blocked me after 1 tweet, as well. Ed Henry thought he’d get away with his snark and regretted trying and then blocked, just like whiner Olbermann
So it’s typical of him than….one strike and you’re out
how can you tell if you are blocked
If you try to read their tweets on their TL…you can’t…..to confirm that you are blocked, just click on Follow, you’ll get this: ”Sorry, you can’t follow this user (because they’re blocking you)”
Yep. But, what matters is that you can still send tweets with their @handle and everyone that follows you and everyone that is followed by those who RT or MT you will see it and be in a position to respond. All those RTs, MTs unless he’s blocked those folk will land in his TL
The power of Twitter is really a function of networks of networks. Moreover, everyone on Twitter sees your tweets except the person who has blocked you.
You know one thing that the “blogs” have been saying for the past couple of hours….is that this whole Trump thing with Romney will force the media to start covering him critically. None of that “they all do it” BS. Within minutes of Maher calling Mormonism a cult, Axelrod was pushing back on twitter. Within minutes of Rosen’s comments, Axelord and the campaign were pushing back. Romney can’t have his cake and eat it too. He can’t say, “I don’t agree” but I will fundraise with him. PBO stands up for gay marriage with courage, and Romney stands down to a talking orange hair piece. All because of money. And was it only me, the fact that he said he wanted to win 50.1 percent make your skin crawl? So, yes Mr. Devil please take my soul so I can winz. They (Him and Ann) really think it’s their turn. America may have elected G.W twice, but they ain’t that dumb. They can smell phony and fake a mile away and wearing Levi jeans won’t change that.
Yep. That 50.1% line makes him sound craven. He just wants power.
Mitt Romney doesn’t ‘sound’ craven…he IS craven…
Romney makes me feel negative emotions that I would rather not feel – and the idiots he’s surrounding himself with are the same. They are despicable. No point being a bishop in his church and then trying to portray himself as a good person when he can’t call out filth, but instead, he uses it for his purposes.
Someone had a clip earlier of someone who went to school with Romney, who insisted that Romney is a good person with the same qualities as President Obama, but just not able to portray it. That’s crap! Romney is not a good person. He is not.
Good way to put, theo..that’s why I’ve mostly avoided any vids or pics of the Lying Willard. Self preservation of my spiritual being.
How braindead is that person? Or/both.. how much did Koch pay him?
great day, CHIPS
thanks so much
Apparently, this language is acceptable to God, who apparently is a Democrat (I just knew it!).

So, now I’m thinking you’re playing “TheTweetOfGod” on Twitter, Yardarm, with your crazy … er … grasp of things. Ha! All hands on deck, I see. God and the Snark. Go for it!
Hahahahahahaha … I knew it. I knew my God is a Democrat. Thanks jacquelineobommer!
HI honeys, I’m HOME! had a fantastic few days off in the bosom of family, loved being in the proximity of The Obama White House for the Memorial Day Holiday!
You are back? Sure did miss you popping in and out. Wipe your feet off and come on in. So tell me, what does ‘the air’ feel like in the proximity of the Obama White House?
Meteorologically, it was the same old Potomac River basin hot and humid, humming with bugs. Spiritually, it was fascinating..so very different from out West here, where there is so much BLUE. I loved being with the family again for a bit, it has been 12 years since I could get back there. Found some fantastic Obama souvenirs at a shop in the concourse while waiting for my flight. It was too short, but it was really a good break. I need to make some changes in my work schedule! Denea leaves on the 1st from Sydney to Nice, The French Job starts on the 2nd, in Antibes! Thank you for asking, VC, I hoped you would remember me!
Pamela! /stomping foot/ Who cares about meteorology! And spiritually! Did you hear Mrs Obama humming as she harvested her produce? Did you glimpse Grandma Robinson whe nyou were out shopping with an inlaw? Did the air itself feel purer than your last visit due to their presence? This is the last time I’m relying on YOU to reconnoitre!
OTOH, glad to hear the reunion went well. Do the work changes mean you’ll have more time to hold 1st spot for me her when I’m too slow? Cool@ You are aware, aren’t you, that the 1st is this Friday? They moved quickly. Well, for sure our thoughts and good wishes go with Denea and her confidence and world travel experience will no doubt prove invaluable.
1.No 2.No 3. YES! 4.Oh, YES, indeed! 5. Of course, I know it’s THIS Friday, and couldn’t agree more about how quickly it went, imagine how Denea is feeling! She has a go-zillion details to synthesize and only 9 days to do so! She WILL be on that plane to Nice!, then on to Antibes! Holy smokes!
I really wish Denea well, Pamela, and I hope she has a safe, and exciting time with this adventure. This is what young people should do with their lives. Daring, exciting, wonderfully unique things.
TY, theo67, I could not agree more!
Welcome home Pamela! We did indeed miss you. I’m glad you spent some family time. Now you’re home, you’re home… to your TOD family.
Welcome home Pamela. I must have missed the announcement about Denea, so happy to hear she is going to France and that she got the internship. I hope she has a wonderful and safe trip. You must keep us up-to-date on her trip.
Welcome home, dear Pamela!
TY JO’B! It may take a couple days to put a wholesome weekend in perspective.. Perhaps once I am fully back in my own timezone!
Wholesome? Wtf, that was meant to be WHIRLWIND! Tho in general, my family is a fairly healthy bunch!
((((((((((((((((((( Welcome Home, Pamela)))))))))))))))))))) HZ
Wow another post….Chica Chipstix you are on a roll…..that long weekend must have been the ticket to rejuvenatin’ your political juices.
Smartypants has a post up that I recommend (when don’t I recommend SP ). She links to two articles on the President, one of which is quite long, but you might want to go through them anyway when you have a few minutes. Here’s the conclusion of her post:-
I believe these two incidents paint a picture of President Obama that some of us have noticed for a long time now, but others have completely missed. As I’ve said before, those folks have gotten trapped in their either/or thinking and missed “Obama as the counter-puncher” who is always open to working with you. But when crossed, he’ll crush you.
Update: I was remiss in not pointing out that both of these incidents tell us a lot about WHAT motivates the counter-puncher in President Obama. In neither case was it someone going after him personally. Both situations involved a threat to the American people. In the first case it was the Republican’s political power plays threatening the economic recovery and in the second a very real physical threat to Americans by Al Qaeda. That also tells us a lot about who this man is. /
You can follow the ‘P. Obama as Counter-Puncher’ link to the right, or use this…
Mahalos, vc! I will check them out.
Mahalos, back at you Cha! Sure hope that means ‘greetings’ or maybe ‘thanks’; wouldn’t want to be saying anything I shouldn’t.
Just Brilliant! I left a reply on her blog under Anonymous for expediency. She doesn’t get many comments for as excellent as she is.
‘She doesn’t get many comments for as excellent as she is.’
Unfortunately, that is true, Cha, which is why I like to draw attention to her site from time to time. SP is the only blog site I visit that constantly pushes me to exercise my mind and brain, sometimes to the point of ‘pain’.
A very sweet picture of two very sweet persons.
I’m glad Ed Shultz is taking about voter suppression in Florida…….what were they thinking electing that criminal as governor….
There’s almost a media blackout about the subject anyway…it’s so shameful……I’ve never seen anything like this.

Virtual Blackout From National Media On Voter Suppression In Florida
Evening, all! Looking forward to getting away tomorrow (visiting family in San Diego for a week). Received some very sad news early today–a friend of mine’s daughter passed away today (died from the cancer) You just don’t have the right words to say to someone suffering from the unbearable heartache of losing a child. But, I know her little girl’s spirit will remain with us, and glad that she’s no longer in pain; she was such a precious, sweet child.
Oh dear So sorry to hear about this sad news. It’s not supposed to be that way. Thinking of them.
No, it’s not the “natural order” of things, if there is such a thing. But, I have faith and believe in a reason/ultimate plan for everything, even if we can’t understand it. Thank you for your words.
thank you. and, welcome back, pamela
Yes indeed, parting is such sweet sorrow. I’m sure it is a relief that their daughter is no longer in pain and suffering, but it’s got to be hole in the heart that never quite heals. Sometimes I miss my mom like it was yesterday! But knowing my mom that is a pain I’m weirdly glad she never had to carry. One day we will meet again. All you can do is listen and be there. Take care of each other.
Thank you for those kind words and understanding. And, yes, I’m sure the pain will never really go away, but, over time, it becomes a bit more bearable? I know that it has for me with those I’ve lost in my life. But, I can’t imagine what it would be like to lose my child (I have a 4-yr-old daughter).
So sorry to hear that, thoughtful3. We lost my 16-y/o cousin when I was in elementary school, and our entire family was hurt forever. I hope your friend’s family knows they have loving support around them, including yours.
Sorry for your loss as well. And, yes, she has my loving support..and others, I’m sure. They don’t have any family or many friends here though. They’re a military family and haven’t lived here very long.
My deep condolences! One of the most devastating experience for any parent is the loss of a child. As someone who lost a child to cancer I know the pain your friend is going through. There are no words that can ever take away the pain, but just your presence and lots of hugs and love eases the pain.
So sorry to hear this news. All of you here know we lost our 4 yr. old grandson to cancer. As we said in our grief support group: When you lose a parent, you lose your past. When you lose a spouse, you lose your present. When you lose a child, you lose your future. As someone else said, it is not the “natural order.” nathkatun, my condolences to you on the lose of a child to cancer. It s—-!!!!!!!!
So sorry for your loss as well, tnmtngirl. Maybe, after some time passes, I’ll mention a grief support group for my friend–I didn’t think about that, so thanks. They’re a military family and haven’t lived here very long–no family or many friends here; a support group would probably be a good idea for her to commune with and share with others who have been through the same type of loss.
tnmtngirl, I didn’t know about the loss of your precious grandson. Please accept my belated condolences to you and your family! I also thank you for your kind thoughts. I lost my sixteen years old daughter 19 years ago to cancer and my life has never been the same. It’s absolutely true: loosing a child is the most unimaginable thing. And as you say, it goes against the expected “natural order” of things. To day our thoughts and prayers must be with Thoughtful3 and her friend who lost a child because it will take time, love and support to transcend their tragedy.
Thank you Pamela! I lost my daughter to cancer 19 years ago! I know Thoughtful3′s friend must be going through the most unimaginable pain. It’s the kind of pain that shakes your fundamental beliefs about the whole purpose of life. Nevertheless, the presence of family and friends, whose love need no words, is the only way to help a parent cope. At least that’s what has sustained me all these years.
nathkatun, tmntngirl and thoughtful… so sorry to hear of these terrible losses. My eldest son had cancer 10 years ago, but has thankfully survived. I have experienced how horrible this disease that can rob us of our precious children truly is. I pray there will be an ultimate cure for all types of cancer one day.
So sorry to hear about the loss of your child! What an unimaginable thing to go through…and, I take your words to heart…thank you for sharing
(((((((((((( May Comfort Be In Your Space, thoughtful3))))))))))))))))) HZ
Thoughtful…I am so sorry for your friend. I am a mom and cannot fathom the loss of a child. Let her know all of us have her in our thoughts.
Totally delicious irony …. you’re all going to love the photo

Yeah, and I think Trump’s plane probably lands on a red carpet with “Trump” emblazoned on it, since he must have his name everywhere. Such a fool.
Can you imagine the inside of that plane? Louis XIV seating and a gold boudoir.

Dan Rather to Maher: Corporate media consolidation is politicizing and trivializing journalism
This was really excellent. I watched the video the other day and posted here, but no one commented…I have no idea of anyone watched it. Worth a watch. Rather was spot on.
desertflower, I’ve sent for Rather’s book. Thanks for the heads-up
I watched it yesterday. That is why CBS had to push Dan Rather out of the news since all the nutworks have decided “real news” is a luxury that Corporations can’t afford. The SCOTUS has mandated that it’s ok for a news organization to mislead and lie to viewers.

Actor Kevin Costner helped out Barack Obama in 2008, but the president has yet to return the favor, Costner recently told the Hollywood Reporter:
[Costner] is as loyal to his films as he is to some friends — and disappointed when that isn’t reciprocated. Often incorrectly identified as a Republican, he recalls being neglected by the man he helped run for president: “I voted for Obama and actually went off and stumped for him in Colorado. Then I never heard from him.”
Ummmm, he is kind of Busy!
is this for real? what does he expect?
ps- I thought he was a repuke. Apparently I was wrong.
He is a Republican, but he likes the President!
he needs to recognize that when Hollywood wants to see PBO, they go to him and if he has time, he sees them. PBO and Clooney are friends and Clooney goes to Washington when he wants to talk to PBO, so do Reese Witherspoon, StiffNeck Jolie and that Billy Goat she’s planning to marry, Brad Pitt. Why hasn’t Costner picked up on that little tidbit?
I think maybe his head’s all big after being lauded for his remarks at Whitney Houston’s memorial (which were great remarks, but I think his ego kicked in after that).
I saw him on some late night show during some Election year(think it was bush vs Gore but not sure)..anyway he was drunk on his assm slurring words and not making too much sense. He came off as a purity troll.
Now from this..I see he really is all about Kevin Costner and not too bright, either.
Wow, these people actually think POTUS is going to stay in touch? WTH?
Yeah. I voted for PBO in ’08, and he never came over for coffee.
Seriously. And he promised to tune up my bicycle and make me a tape.
Remember the cute website “Barack Obama Is Your New Bicycle”? http://barackobamaisyournewbicycle.com/
The author turned this into a book. I think I recall his wife was over the moon in her support of Barack Obama’s campaign in ’08, and his kidding of her led to the website and a follow-on book.
I LOVED that website! Totally fun and ingenious.
Oh, he did drop by for tea here, you know!
Maybe he could hook with Cornel West and go on The Pity Poor ME TOUR?
I voted for him too and I didn’t hear from him either! …..never writes……he never calls.
(don’t mind me…. I’ll just sit here and sulk).
Yeah, Barack Obama was like Nathan Jones: “Oh, winter’s passed, spring, and fall, You never wrote me, You never called”
TY. JOB. There’s nothing better than a shoulder to cry on and a good tune when you’ve been abandoned by a fickle man. sniff sniff!
I wouldn’t know. (Ha!)
I hear from President Obama and Michelle all the time……they send me emails, letters, xmas cards, so do a lot of their political friends. I was never a Costner fan after a friend told me that when she volunteered at an AT&T Peeble Beach, CA golf tournament, all the other golfers took off their shoes so as not to scuff up the floors of a private home that was hosting a reception, except Costner. As McGumpy would say, “what a jerk”.

Wow! Lot of work to be done!
It just never ends. I hope he doesn’t apologize.
Poland’s foreign minister: “The White House will apologize for this outrageous error;” Poland’s Prime
They did, they said the president misspoke. No need getting your panties in a bunch. NO ONE SAID THE POLISH WERE IN CHARGE OF THE CAMPS. Gosh, people are so sensitive these days.
I didn’t see an apology. The quote I saw was “the White House clarified Obama’s remarks.” Clarifications are fine but no apologies.
I don’t know the difference these days…if they clarified or apologized, it wouldn’t matter to me. The president has never said, publicly or privately, that the Polish were responsible for the camps, so for the Polish to get juiced up for this non story reflects poorly on them. Don’t they have the Euro crisis to to deal with?
“Don’t they have the Euro crisis to to deal with?”
No – they are not part of the Eurozone yet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enlargement_of_the_eurozone).
This one was different for Poland than comments with no intent to offend (as the President’s was) would have been for other situations. There will always be sensitivity over the camps – always – so I’m thinking the White House just wanted to address this quickly and move on, meaning no disrespect to the Polish people or history. They always take the high road.
*as the President’s were* not *was*
what’s this about, first time I’m hearing about it. what did PBO say?
Lisa – Here’s what the AP put out (not cutting the President any kind of break, of course, but I guess I’m just not used to seeing “only the facts”):
Is the foreign minister calling PBO ignorant and incompete? Really? Isn’t that a bit extreme? I guess we know who he’s rooting for in 2012. Asshole.
Ugh, I am so pissed by the last segment on Rachel Maddow where John Harwood was on and basically said that yeah Romney is using Trump’s birtherism to raise money and as a way to “stick it to the lefttis and the Rachel Maddow and MSNBC” and let them know that they dont’ plan to buckle down to the left and that Romney was actually joking about birtherism and the campaign released Romney’s birth certificate today as a way to put the Rachel Maddows and MSNBC of the world that the campaign won’t be apologizing for anything.
Harwwod basically said that hey what backlash, people already consider Trump a clown, so hey who really cares if Romney dabbles in birtherism…I think Rachel was stunned by Harwood. She seemed speechless that Harwood was actually saying that hey it’s no big deal that the Romney camp is happy to out right court racist idiots like Trump. It took her a moment to try to push back, but it was half-hearted at best since, IMHO, she just seemed shock that Harwood was so blase’ about the whole thing.
If Harwood is the voice of the village, then I feel sadder than I already felt for the citizens of US who gets their info from feckless hacks like Harwood and the like.
ETA: Rachel’s opening segment was great, but then Harwood completely pissed on it.
Agree totally with both your comments. Actually felt a little sorry for Rachel…..could tell she just did not know how to react/respond.
Harwood is the reason why the discourse is so sour. When people excuse bad behavior, it becomes a little bit more acceptable. Harwood makes excuses for the likes of Trump, who should be reviled for the hateful way he’s spoken about the President of the United States, especially when he’s endorsing someone who fantasizes about holding that Office himself, one day. Harwood, and every other American, should be outraged. There are billions around the world who are outraged.
‘When people excuse bad behavior, it becomes a little bit more acceptable.’
Morning T! I haven’t a clue what the original convo is about (the gist here is fine for me) – I haven’t seen Maddow – however I had to reiterate your so-very-true statement. We have lots of evidence of that on the national, political stage and every time the media ( I blame them more than any other group) allow another example to go publicly unchallenged or rebutted, we as a country lose another little piece of our ‘values’. Case in point = the Alaska Barbie, Sharron Angle, The Not a Witch, the ridiculous performances during Repub primary and so on, and so on, till now we come to ….MITT! It’s a discouraging trend with no end in sight BECAUSE there are almost no principled journalists/pundits out there to start an end to the values landslide.
So true – I can’t imagine that a presidential candidate would have remained viable with the lies, amplifying of hate, and record of cruelty and failure that Romney has exhibited – but he’s officially the Republican Nominee for President this year. He’s the best they could offer. The person they think deserves to take over from President Obama to make this country better, and to enact his vision. That’s the guy. And we now see what he stands for. And the GOP don’t have a problem with any of it. The media’s complicit role in furthering his candidacy in the face of all that has transpired is something that I won’t soon forget.

Just a guess, but everyone but President Obama?
This is part of Rachel’s STUPENDOUS takedown of Trump’s birtherism, on her show tonight, after playing some of his idiotic past words:
“That little brain-curdling wallow in nihilistic, nativistic, celebrity-driven, verbal upchuck came to a very abrupt end just about one year ago, when – on a Wednesday afternoon – the President of the United States held a press conference at the White House to release his freakin’ birth certificate to put that nonsense to rest … ”
Rachel’s good at the language, and this was her best use of it yet, IMHO. Brava!
That’s a sweet picture.
Not sure if this is for tonight’s Jon Stewart appearance, but FLOTUS looks SMASHING!!
Yes, she does.

Donald Trump’s Hair Tries to Escape:
I sat with an elderly couple from Belgium on the flight home to Seattle. They asked me if Americans were stupid enough to elect “Rome-ney” (how they pronounced the evil word). I said No, he will not be elected, President Obama will be re-elected, and their relief and reassurance was visible. Then they said how much all of Europe loves PBO! I thanked them for that, then commented that if everyone in the worked could vote in our elections, we could just skip the campaign, because PBO would be the one! They agreed, and we all laughed! They cannot bear Myth Robney, not one little bit.
Nice:) The entire WORLD recognizes the goodness of this man. The only ones that don’t are the supposed “real Amerikkkans!”
Thanks Pamela. That story made my night.
Yes, Pamela that was a very nice story to go to bed on a good note. I remember when bush was president and a friend of mine traveled to Europe and so many people told him how they hated bush.

Daily Show with the First Lady!
I’ma be wading into the bullshit that is Jon Stewart’s show in order to watch Miche. First I’ll watch the first 15 minutes of Chelsea Lately which should be ample time to then catch the last 10-15 minutes of Miche on the Crap Show.
I can’t even bring myself to go as far as you are.
Miche was good! I think I missed the first couple minutes. She outlined some of PBO’s achievements and she talked about how great Joe was when Stewart asked her if she was worried about having Joe around her kids. what an ass. That last comment was more about pushing the meme that Joe is gaffe prone.
I agree Lisa. FLOTUS is quick and she really know how to answer any question, even if it is a BS question. She was great.
Thanks. Could have been worse. Like if Jon had said he was going to hang around her kids. Then, she’d worry.
actually I thought that last question wasn’t bad at all. I love Joe “Ride or Die” Biden, but he so reminds me of the uncle I have that is just all kinds of fun and will cuss like no one’s business around my lil cousins. It’s one of the reasons why my lil cousins’ like that uncle so much.
Still FLOTUS was fantastic. She charmed the pants off of Jon Stewart and basically had him eating out of his hand. Micheele O is def the best surrogate PBO has!
I’m AMENING the part about her being a stellar surrogate. So true.
Good news! I’m golden! http://bodyodd.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/05/29/11885055-extroverts-live-longer-study-of-centenarians-suggests?lite
I thought so
I believe this study. My mom will be 79 next month and the youngest of her now deceased siblings and I think she will live longer than the other two. She always worried less than they did and generally has a sunny happy go lucky attitude.
Smartypants plants a big ass body slam!!! I LOVE Smartypants!! Must read…then tell ALL of those armchair Presidents to STFU! Looking at you, GG!
An historic night. When else has the Republican nominee to the Presidency misspelled #America on the night he clinches the nomination? #p2— Clio the Leo (@CliotheLeo) May 30, 2012
Hey people, no one should be surprised at Romney’s embrace of racism. You must remember that it was doctrine of the LDS Church that AAs had the “Mark of Cain” and were accursed by God. The doctrine was only “changed” by the church in the 1970s with a “new revelation”. Romney’s hero was Brigham Young, a total white supremacist.
Good night, sweet dreams, the east coast time zone wins the night! Ouch! I’ll be back, will try to snag the first spot on Rise and Shine, tosee if Chips remembers me! ! It is good to be home, kitty thinks so, too!
FLOTUS was fantastic on #DailyShow #GMA #The View…Ann Romney ain’t got nothing on Michelle O!
lamh35, FLOTUS was FANTASTIC, you are so right. Even on Stewart Show. I’m sure POTUS sit back and said to himself, that’s my wife, isn’t she the best? She was just great on all three shows. And no Ann Romney is not in the same class as FLOTUS, no way.
Actually—–a great appearance by First Lady with Stewart. He behaved himself, which was the correct choice. She “did not take the bait” when it was dangled a couple of times, responded smartly. Enjoyable!
I’m so relieved to hear that. I was worried that he’d try to embarrass her. Glad he behaved, even though she would have handled herself.
Now there is FLOTUS being on Live with Kelly, and Rachel Ray. Do anyone know the dates for these? I got the People magazine with FLOTUS interview, and now I want to get that garden book. I want to try some of the recipes in the book. Everyone on the View said all the food was so good.
I ordered the book tonight,
American Grown: The Story of the White House Kitchen Garden and Gardens Across America
OOps, I did not know the entire pictue would post. I only meant to post the link.
I want to buy the book, too. All the proceeds are going to charity.
dotster3, I notice that when Stewart tried to bring up about Barry Obama smoking pot days, and you were so right, FLOTUS handle it like a pro. Didn’t Stewart say something like , you are good, I see what he sees in you, when FLOTUS didn’t fall for his crap..
stew-rat brought that up? what a fucking asshole.
I don’t know if I can watch Jon Stewart – even for Michelle Obama.
theo67, FLOTUS handle things like a pro, you would have been proud of her. Believe me the only reason I watched Stewart was because of FLOTUS. And might I add she look lovely.
I ended up watching it very late at night. I was offended by the nonsense that Stewart put on right before she came out – all that crap about President Obama. Surely, he could have shown some respect? And then the stuff he chose to talk about – she turned it all around and said what she came there to say. She was excellent and she did all thinking, serious people proud.
As far as I’m concerned, Jon Stewart is almost as bad as the Republicans – and he’s worse, because he has influence with young people.
I couldn’t even watch it Theo, even though Michelle Obama is able for anyone I really wish Stewart wasn’t afforded the honor of having her on his show. He’s smart, often hilarious, but in my very humble opinion: a contemptible piece of crap. He goes for the same cool-kid line as turds like Greenwald, ‘both parties are the same’. Well, I suppose when you’re as rich as Stewart, Health Care reform etc, is no big deal. I can’t abide him, he reminds me of all the boring smart asses from my school days, yawn.
totally agree – he’s smarmy and an opportunist. I washed my hands of him after that silly “Rally for Sanity” or whatever it was, and he didn’t have any sense of responsibility to remind people to vote. People like him and Ed Schultz really have no leg to stand on when they complain about what they think the President should be doing, when the two of them failed miserably in responsibly using their microphones to help their fellow citizens. Grifters.
+ 1,000,000,000! What struck me most about that rally was that Stewart was an ego gone out of control. And the way he tried to manipulate the woman who told PBO she was exhausted from defending him, he brought her on stage assuming she would denounce PBO, but she chose not to. I’d imagine it ruined his day. Honestly, I can’t even look at the guy’s face any more.
Colbert is still the best. He really did a number on the Willard/Trump hook-up——and how Willard can get to that 50.1——willing to appeal to every crazy nutball in the country—–every conspiracy theorist, every deranged and paranoid goofball. Colbert’s humor reveals how low Willard is willing to go, which is to the depths. What a candidate!?
That was classic!
Interesting. From April of last year, Trump said: “I’m a much bigger business man and have (a) much, much bigger net worth. I mean, my net worth is many, many, many times Mitt Romney,” Trump said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union.”
Today: He has a very large Twitter!
I’m just sayin’……not feeling very good about himself I’d say. Overcompensating a little TOO much.
chump is a fucking carnival barker. End of story.
Yes.He’s that, and then some. BFJ
Is FLOTUS back home? I wonder did FLOTUS get home in time for POTUS to tuck her in?
Daily show is filmed during the day so I’d say she was in plenty of time to be tucked in. I hope she got extra special attention today. She was very good on The View and The Daily Show.
Wbillard is going for the stupid vote..that entails fox, limbaugh…stupid shites like that who brainwash those who don’t know how to think for themselves.
So, the Polish PM will make a statement in the Morning, on the President misspeaking. Is that really necessary?
And of course, everybody and their Mother will pile on!
What did the President misspeak about?
Here’s the story Anniebella.
Since when does anyone give a shit about Poland? —— Maybe that’s why the Polish gov is making such a huge deal about a misstatement. Asses!
He was giving medal of honor to a Polish Gentleman, and instead if saying Nazi death camps, he said Polish Death Camps.
The PM freaked out and demanded an apology. WH gave one!
Good grief! Much ado about nothing! I just read it. Obviously people know the camps were run by the Nazis. Everybody wants attention it seems.
It was a mistake, the White House apologize so that should be it, shouldn’t it.

Trump is pathetic in every way.Even his “fortune” is exaggerated. He’s a high stakes grifter and a fool.
Bankrupt in SO many ways…..both of them.
I heard some time ago that he is just a front with his name on some of the property that he is suppose to own. He is a total fraud.
Yup, I heard that, too. I think I heard it on Lawrence O’Donnell’s show.
Mitt’s new VP prospect…
Guess who just made #BainMitt short list? Former Dem Rep. Artur Davis Officially Switches To GOP livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entries/former… via @TPMLivewire— Alycee (@jazziz2) May 30, 2012
I can’t imagine that this Artur Davis thinks Democrats will vote for him as Romney’s VP after he switches parties? And won’t the tea party folks revolt if Romney, whom they see as too moderate, picks someone who’s not only a turncoat, but another moderate? The whole Romney campaign is disgusting – brings out the worst in everybody.
Robme will pick a boring white guy someone who won’t overshadow him. Robme will pick his version of Dan Quayle.
I think he has to pick an exciting VP. It’s the only card he has to play. He’s too boring, otherwise.
the voters in the AL primary read him right – davis is just an opportunist. i doubt that the dems AA will ever vote for him in northern virginia and this is an area which is trending dem and with many AA
Why does this PJ Crowley appear as though he’s still speaking on behalf of the Administration/State Department? It’s misleading, and gives the wrong impression. I doubt he’s being kept informed of all the goings-on at the White House, especially since he was booted out of service for not being disciplined in his role as official spokesperson for the State Department.
I felt very calm this morning, I had my little plan to not let myself be affected by the shameful double standard in the media, to mock them, something I talked about yesterday…..depending of the fake outrage of the day, I do get stressed out and it does affect me when they attack the President,
I don’t want to be angry about the GOP PR machine anymore.
….if I get angry…..that negative energy affects ME, not Chuck Todd, not Andrea Mitchell, not any of them. I don’t want to give them any power again….
As the day progressed I didn’t feel that calmness anymore…,..I started to get irritated again, ….voter suppression, the birthter crap….how Romney could get away with that, etc…so my plan wasn’t really working.
…..as a political junkie, I crave information…I want to know about everything that is out there but not to the detriment of my inner peace anymore. I had to find something quick, something new to help me cope with the garbage and focus on the real information in between. I cannot change the garbage that is in the media, but I can change the way I deal with it.
I don’t know why I didn’t think about it before but I’ve been doing it after I finished my office work and my irritation vanished…..I used the classic ”picture them naked”…..
….and it worked….beautifully…….I was watching the Ed Show and there was some RWer (forgot his name) who was talking garbage, I pictured him naked right away, it was gross and hairy but it worked……I actually laughed and it completely neutralized the anger I felt rising , I was able to focus on the other guests …and that’s what I’m going to do from now on…..anyone who angers me in the media (especially the WHPC) and trash the President, I’ll picture them naked in my mind to neutralize the anger and replace it with mockery, ….naked GOP trolls, , ..
I don’t want to spend one more second getting angry at people who crave it….they will never change their way, they made their choice, they work for the GOP machine…..fine……. I’ll work the best I can, in my little world, for the reelection of President Obama.
Picturing some of these right wing loons naked would scar me for life, and send me right over the edge! You’re a brave one, Christi!
lol the things I come up with sometimes……it does work actually, my friend who was terribly phobic speaking in front of any group of people used that technique for years as it was part of her job………..I figured, if it can neutralize fear, it sure can neutralize anger….I think I’ll skip Mark Knoeller though.
Wise move – that one might just crack your brain in two…
Actually, the same visualization technique might work thinking of them as tiny little trolls, with the Trump hair, a little crazy outfit, and squeaky little voices. Same effect – minimizes them, and paints them with the character they actually do portray. Really smart strategy, Christi – once again. Today was a little too much for me, with Trump being given as much media coverage as he could muster, and Romney’s weak response. Tomorrow, I’ll try the visualization technique. Thanks!
Great ideas, I like it…..it’s going to be a long 6 months Goodnight theo, I can’t believe that’s I’m still up at 2:17am in Montreal…..I’m still wide awake, it’s insane……”see” you tomorrow!..
Good night, Christi! Only 11:21 here in California – ground shook a little while ago, but seems calm now. Chat with you tomorrow!!
To deal with the GOP-trolling MSM and RWNJ surrogate insanity I’ve decided to follow PBO’s lead. During her interview on The View FLOTUS said that PBO says go BIG, meaning he takes the high road and rises above all the chatter. Since he’s the one targeted and he’s able to accomplish this feat, the least I can do is strive to emulate this great man.

Stanford Law Review | Health Care and Constitutional Chaos: Why #SCOTUS Should Uphold #Obamacare bit.ly/JO0dgh #hcr— (@HCAN) May 30, 2012
This is a great article. Wish it had been written 6 months ago. The opinion has already been determined – the writing of the opinion is happening now.
It’s a bit disheartening to read a cogent explanation like this now. Do you think Justice Kennedy is going to read it now and say, “Oh, NOW I get it!”
It’s too late. fate of ACA has already been determined. There should have been a coordinated, directed frame for ACA from the first day it was enacted. The American people were left with Republican lies and frames, and a long term timetable that they didn’t understand and still don’t. Someone of great intelligence said to me over the weekend, “A lot of good this law has done. My premiums are going up anyway.” It’s more than just having to wait until 2014 for the exchanges; it’s that it has not been made clear why there’s this long wait. There has been no coordinated message that builds positive anticipation. There wasn’t before the 2010 elections, there was no message after 2010, there was no message leading up to the Supreme Court hearing. Because of all Supreme Courts in American history, this one cares and listens to politics more than it does to the law.
remember that you support a President who is always hopeful – SCOTUS may surprise us all.
I’m hoping……. I really am.

Here’s a good post from a few days ago:
President Obama will sign legislation reauthorizing the Export-Import Bank in the South Court Auditorium. From the White House: “As the President has said, this important step will help American businesses create jobs here at home and sell their products around the world – all at no cost to taxpayers. Last year marked the highest level of financing in the Bank’s 77-year history, as they supported thousands of U.S. companies. Over the last several months, the President met with business leaders in Washington, visited workers at companies like Boeing, and urged Congress to reauthorize the Bank to keep building on this progress.”
Ex-Cameron aide arrested over alleged perjury aje.me/M6mZVZ— Al Jazeera English (@AJEnglish) May 30, 2012
Police say the ex-top media adviser to Prime Minister David Cameron has been arrested on suspicion of perjury the latest case tied to allegations of wrongdoing by British tabloid newspapers.
Scottish police said on Wednesday that Andy Coulson, a former editor of the now-defunct News of The World tabloid, was detained at his home in London over an accusation of committing perjury at a case at the High Court in Glasgow.
Coulson quit as Cameron’s communications director in 2011 amid revelations over phone hacking at his former newspaper.
Excellent development. Hope the brits snag murdock too.
Senate Republicans signal a big shift on "Obamacare" tpm.ly/KrFWQh— Talking Points Memo (@TPM) May 30, 2012
Senate Republicans are echoing the House GOP’s shift in favor of some of the more popular “Obamacare” provisions, a sign that the party is uniting behind the strategy ahead of the election.
With a Supreme Court decision looming next month, House Republicans are privately weighing a plan to reinstate three popular elements of the law if it’s struck down — guaranteeing coverage regardless of pre-existing conditions, allowing young adults up to 26 years old to remain on a parent’s insurance policy, and closing the Medicare prescription drug coverage gap known as the “doughnut hole.”
Despite the blowback from conservatives, who want nothing less than to wipe out the law in its entirety, top Senate Republicans are signaling that they’re behind the strategy of resurrecting some aspects of the Affordable Care Act.
Sen. Roy Blunt (MO), vice chair of the Senate GOP Conference, offered a ringing defense of the “Obamacare” under-26 provision, and said he wouldn’t oppose ideas he previously supported simply because President Obama adopted them.
The shift is notable because Republicans have spent more than two years pledging nothing less than total repeal of the law. That has conscripted them into disavowing all of its elements, implicitly or explicitly, even though core pillars of the law had significant support within the GOP before Obama embraced them.
Now, however, the party would be caught in an election-year predicament if the Supreme Court grants them their wish and overturns the law. Warming to these provisions is an important signal that Republicans believe the extent of their anti-“Obamacare” stance over the last few years is politically unsustainable. That’s not sitting well with conservative advocates.
LMAO. A win-win for Obamacare and a blow to the fucking insurance companies
Some Democrats think the Republican shift is merely a bluff.
“They’re joking, right? This is serious?” Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) told TPM. “The Republicans — the tea party has never been for consumer laws, never been for protecting families, never been for making Medicare work better. So it’s a continued sham.”
You are absolutely right. If, God forbid, any of them get elected, this ain’t gonna happen. These are the RWNJ’s who made a budget deal that they are reneging on as we speak. It’s their way of confusing more seniors and other voters that they will get to keep health care reform (as much as they like or understand it).
these rightwingers think that people have forgotten their stand and blind opposition to ACA??? they really think we are stupid enough to let them wriggle out of their blind hate of ANYTHING President Obama proposed??
The answer is- they poll well!
And if it is struck down, the GOP runs a huge risk of being blamed.
It’s CYA move by the thugs. Not.Gonna.Work.
Romney is a moron to be hanging out with someone who has become the laughingstock of the business world. I was in Vegas a few years back and I saw paint falling off one his hotels, gaudy plastic chandeliers and a bunch of stuff that would have you thinking this was a joke.
I am just glad the media has stopped handling Romney with kid gloves. In today’s times, they quote Mark McKinnon as saying
“I’ve always thought Romney would gain a lot more mileage by stiff arming Trump. I THINK WHO ROMNEY STANDS WITH SAYS ALOT ABOUT WHAT HE’LL STAND FOR. Associating with Trump seems to reinforce the narrative on Romney that Team Obama wants to push. Which is that Romney is an out of touch rich guy without any real core, which means he’ll associate with anyone if he thinks it will further his ambition.”
Boom! So when the media is saying Team Obama is being mean or as Harwood said yesterday, everyone knows Trump is a clown, don’t buy it. Yes, Trump is a clown, but apparently so is Romney. And in the same article they mentioned Romney’s cowardly behavior when asked if he would repudiate Limbaugh’s comments on Sandra Fluke– and he said “I wouldn’t have used those words.” This is a pattern people.
And this is the money quote from a SUPPORTER of Romney’s.
“Trump is a highly negative figure, I don’t see any advantage for Romney to do this. Once you get past the hair, there is no substance.”
Twilight Zone! Doo doo doo doo doo dodo doo!

Donald Trump is a dog-whistle word which is targeted at a certain group.
Dog-whistle politics, also known as the use of code words, is a type of political campaigning or speechmaking which employs coded language that appears to mean one thing to the general population but has a different or more specific meaning for a targeted subgroup of the audience.
The term is invariably pejorative, and is used to refer both to messages with an intentional subtext, and those where the existence or intent of a secondary meaning is disputed. The term is an analogy to dog whistles, which are built in such a way that the high-frequency whistle is heard by dogs, but appears silent to human hearing.
