“The cynic in me sees this story as a “balancing” antidote to the huge blunder yesterday on Fox And Friends, when the three otherwise unemployables ran what amounted to an attack ad on behalf of the Republican party that was so clumsy and obvuous that even some conservative commenters hid their faces in shame.”
One last note: I saw that regular gas was up to $4.45 here in Seattle. Kind of discouraging as I saw prices like $3.67 over in DC. Wonder what that is all about? It was $4.29 when I left for my short vacation. Anyway, bye, everyone, hugs all around! Thank you, Chips, as always, you are the best of the best!
Pamela, welcome home, the price keeps rising on the west coast and I hear it’s because so many refinery fires and shut downs. I am wondering if this is another Enron, screw the west coasters again right before an election.
Another important factor that influences gas prices in certain regions is the formulas they have to use. I read recently that the refineries are switching from winter to summer formulas and this affects the price of gas. Until I read the article, I didn’t know that gas here in GA wasn’t the same as that on the West Coast. Regular unleaded gas is currently selling for $3.15/gallon here, and premium is about .15-.20 more at most places.
This is amazing! The friends of Mittens are all chanting USA, and trying to interrupt the news conference. They don’t WANT to hear facts nor get information . RUDE.
I see that the young, white collar worker that is screaming and blowing bubbles is using up his lunch time to make noise. If they want MItt…they should vote for him. They should let others vote for their choice, not try to disenfranchise them.
That behavior of those Romney supporters was just plain stupid, for anyone to thing acting that way benefits their candidate shows what kind of people Romney supporters are. Now these idiots knows that the same can be done to there people. Maybe there will have to be policemen there the next time. But Axelrod would have been glad to have a discussion with those Romney idiots, but I bet Romney would never have a discussion with supporters of President Obama.
How utterly childish. How do they suppose this helps them in any way except to make Robney’s whole campaign look foolish. They just don’t know who they’re dealing with.
I think most Americans don’t like seeing a candidate’s supporters acting out in stupid ways. McCain’s supporters did the same thing in 2008, and we know it turned off a majority of the voters.
That is expected! It’s what they do. Any amount if scrutiny to Robney is a no no! And the Press sits back and does nothing, but conform to whatever Willard wants!
I’m actually shocked by this.. if they don’t want to hear the facts about Romney they should just move on and let these folks have their rally. Romney can answer to these charges himself.. if he’s such a ‘leader’.
Will anything ever come of this? I doubt it. Once again, it affirms my thoughts that churches, religious organizations of any kind, should NOT be tax exempt.
Honeywell CEO says Corporate tax rate should be Zero! Zero?
Hence, the reason Government programs get vilified! The Big Wigs want No taxes which pay for services.
It would be nice if OWS was on our side, instead, they are to busy shutting down Ports, which is counter productive.
Fine, then states should have the right to charge big bucks for using roads, schools, librarys, courts, water, gas, lights, etc., and no state income. The Federal Gov’t should tax their lobbying activities and deduct huge fees on their government contracts.
Honeywell CEO, just the mention of Honeywell makes me angry. Honeywell wanting zero tax rate. Honeywell who in the goal of making money commited ‘industrial homicide’ resulting in the death of my brother and his 10 year old son, years ago, but to this day I detest those money hungry vultures.
You all move on too fast. Any one see Tweety yesterday when PJ Crowley and the retired general eviscerated Willard on foreign policy? It was a thing of beauty. I’m looking forward to that part of the campaign.
I also think Pentagon officials are pizzzed off at the republicans because the House passed an amendment to stop it from using and developing green energy sources for the military. Think Progress reported last night that the Senate Armed Services Committee approved the amendment, too. Republicans and a few democrats from energy states sell their souls to the energy companies. TP reported that so far, the energy companies have given 88% ($18 Million) to GOPers. Only the brain dead would not see a connection between the way these folks vote and the campaign funds they receive from a particular interest group. In this case it seems that money trumps good sense.
Good Day Mayor Chips and fellow TOD Villagers. Hope all is well. After a very long b-day weekend in Vienna, I am back and trying to catch up with the fast moving citizens of TODville.
Yep. I stepped away from my desk to watch the splash down. SpaceX stock should be going through the roof today. I hope they do a lot of hiring in Southern California, we need it badly.
This the electoral history of Mitt Romney, the 70th Governor of Massachusetts (2003–2007) and a candidate for the United States Senate in 1994 and President of the United States in 2008 and 2012.
I’m never seen any crap like this. I do like the strong voice and determination of this mayor. Crazy parts were static, and mic was low at times…ok now much louder. Great drown out their crap!
I see Condo-LIE-zzza in her endorsement of Willard suggests there is NO American leadership now under PBO. She said we need a leader who understands American exceptionalism and is not afraid to lead with that. Good girl, Condi. I think those who were inclined to give her the benefit of the doubt are mistaken. Once a Bushie, always a Bushie. I still cannot stand any of them. What they did to this country is unforgiveable.
There was enough leadership to get us out of Iraq, to pass HCR, and to rid the world of Osama Bin Laden! I wonder what she’s been inhaling? The only thing C. Rice and I have in common is our race. The reality that she doesn’t want to face is that the GOPers don’t hold her in any higher regard than PBO–when push comes to shove. I remember all of the water Michael Steele carried for the GOP as head of the RNC, but the minute he got into trouble with some of its high-level members about spending too much money, he began to talk about how it was harder for him as a Black American to be chairman of the RNC. When I heard that Bull Stank, it didn’t move me to have one bit of sympathy for him. I recognized that he had sold his soul to the GOP a long time ago. I feel the same way about C. Rice, Smiley, Keyes, Cornel West, Cain, Allen West, and the rest of those who have forgotten what it was like to grow up in America at a disadvantage.
Does the Romney campaign think this reflects well on them. I can’t dispute what you’re saying but I’ll blow bubbles and just say USA? Cause I’m inerrupting your event, but treating you like you’re disruppting mine. Yeh Axelrod. Great to be in MA, Obama country! You can shout down people but it’s hard to etch a sketch! Go Axe!
These Romney supporters must be the “real Americans”….they chant USA, like they think that plastering a sticker on their cars that says, “I support our troops” actually DOES ANYTHING. All the while, ignoring the real issues. What frauds.
Sounds like they bussed in the BYU campus again. That was kind of a mess, in my opinion. Looks like juvenile disruption is going to be the Willard campaign strategy.
I note that the NBC polls pull the same old trick of overweighting their sampling with R voters when they want to create a narrative. I pay attention to only one pollster, PPP, which has been shown to have good accuracy over time. Three weeks ago they have PBO up by 10 in Iowa, and last month up by 13 in CO and 8 in NV. That said, none of the pollsters are good at polling cell phone only voters who are now 27% of voters. And PEW says the response ratio on polling contacts is 9%. So basically 9 out of 10 voters don’t even respond to inquiry. How accurate can any polling be on that basis?
.@MittRomney is so ashamed of his record of failure in MA that he sends his staff/interns to drown out discussion of it. #leadership— Lis Smith (@Lis_Smith) May 31, 2012
.@MittRomney doesn't want to talk about his record as Gov. and now he's sent his campaign staff to drown out other people discussing it.— Brad Woodhouse (@woodhouseb) May 31, 2012
Probably mostly accurate. RT @woodhouseb: Those aren't Romney "supporters" protesting in Boston. They are paid staff and interns.— Andrew Kaczynski (@BuzzFeedAndrew) May 31, 2012
Okay..this is just getting ridiculous. No one mentions that the Prez does not need Co, Nv, or Iowa. Romney does. Secondly, do you ever notice that no matter how good the polls are for President…he is big twouble? For example, the Kaiser poll translated by MSNBC’s political blog.
———————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–
On who looks out for the best interests of women, Obama leads 52-26%. Among women, it’s 59-25%. But on who’s best to deal with the deficit, Obama and Romney are essentially tied, with Obama getting the narrow edge, 40-39%, hardly a good sign for an incumbent president.
That vulnerability is one reason the Romney campaign has been pushing the issue. Even on jobs and the economy, President Obama has a 10-point lead. http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/
———————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–
Really? And this is supposed to be the “ibrul” equivalent fo Faux News? In each and every poll, people concerned about the federal deficit is always less than 10%, but according to Lib MSNBC the Prez is doomed.
They just want folks to freak out at the numbers (many oblige them) so that it generates controversy, which generates talk among the elecatory people, which leads to their name popping up on blogs/fb/twitter, which can be measured and counted, which can be shown to their sponsors, which justifies the ad revenues. It’s called marketing and knowing your demographic. For cable news shows, we political wonks are their demographic and they know we’re easily excitable and will post and post and tweet and ‘like’ and mention their names all day, everyday. #methodtothemadness
Oh I understand their rationale for trying to make this ascloseaspossible…but Get the eff outta here. When both indys and Dems go for the prez, why are they tied? In Iowa? In Nevada? In Colorado? You have to assume Dems + Indys> Repubs right? And on this poll, they never mentioned how many people say the federal deficit is their top concern. I’m no math wiz, but anyone with a basic understanding of math can see how those numbers wouldn’t add up to a tie. But hey, they haz money to make.
Hence my response. It’s not meant to make sense, only to generate comments and hysteria. Publicity is good, even when it’s bad. It matters not to them that the comments are less than admirable about them. It still counts to their advertisers as potential consumers exposed to their products.
Those aren't Romney "supporters" protesting in Boston. They are paid staff and interns. Not much getting done at Romney HQ today.— Brad Woodhouse (@woodhouseb) May 31, 2012
Maybe they could have a Video of the Willard Hecklers..showing them in all their stupidity and Saying they don’t want Romney’s Record in Mass discussed?
Now, they remind me of the mob that willard led to cut the boy’s hair.
I can’t believe I missed all this…I absolutely had to finish something for the office.
So reading all this…..its not surprising is it that he would sent hecklers? They park their bus and go in circle around what ever place the President is.
Anytime you guys get upset about any of the articles on Politico, please refer to this masterpiece today in GQ. Written about the hit piece on the NYT and WashPo that Politico published today.
An excerpt:
Any story about the relative fairness of candidate vetting that doesn’t mention, even once, Jeremiah Wright or Bill Ayers (or even Obama’s shady real estate pal Tony Rezco–remember him? Read all about him in The Times in March 2008!) cannot and should not be taken seriously. It displays right off the bat that its authors have fully swallowed the GOP meme that Obama’s past wasn’t sufficiently examined in 2008. So insufficiently, in fact, that even before Obama was his party’s nominee he had to give a nationally televised speech disowning his former pastor. (Incidentially, The Times’s Jodi Kantor wrote a long story about Obama’s relationship with Wright in April 2007! A search of the Times’s archives for Wright yields more than 2950 results.)
I’m really getting tired of the ‘who do we dump on today’ mentality. Booker presented himself as a surrogate and therefore deserved criticism for going off message. I haven’t heard Patrick say anything in that capacity to discredit PBO or the campaign. The message HAS to be that there is nothing wrong with private venture capitalism. We can’t be seen as denouncing a legal and profitable enterprise. We can’t give the Repubs a talking point that Dems/PBO is against the free market. The message has to be that Mitt’s tenure at Bain does not qualify him to be President, which he uses as his selling point. We need to get into the weeds of comments and put on our strategy caps before tucking our napkins in under our chins in preparation to eat our own.
thank you cookemom! what you wrote is almost exactly word for word how PBO and axelrod say it too. we’d all do well to follow their leads. they orchestrated probably the most improbable election win in american history. they know what they’re doing.
Politico has it blaring that Deval went off script. I mean, imagine, you have elevator doors closing on Prez Bush as he was endorsing Romney, you have Daniels in Indy saying he would rather be shot than be considered VP slamming Romney as not visionary, you have Condi endorsing Romney AFTER he clinched the nomination—but PBO is the one with the surrogate problem. Whatevs.
It doesn’t matter to me what the media says or how they portray this race. They are doing their job, generate eyeballs to their sites. I can see beyond that and concentrate on those who are out there busting their backs to get the job done. I don’t understand bashing them just cause they didn’t convey the message they way some wanted the to. I don’t get bombarding Eric Holder about Florida, when he is aware and is on the case within the DOJ’s ability to act. Why the sudden backbiting? Are they getting to us? Getting in our heads?
I suggest folks cool their jets and do a GOTV phone call, when the doom and gloom starts to rear its ugly head.
Get ready for a long 5 mths…the Prez calls them bed wetters. I have tons of confidence in the team that got Barack Hussein Obama elected 44th Pres of the U.S.
I didn’t watch it….someone asked the question earlier……I really don’t care…..Republicans are not like Democrats….they always stay on message, always….it’s easy because they only use Frank Luntz soundbites ”job creator” ”job killing” ”out of control spending”, etc…it’s not difficult to stay on message that way.
…..it just to show how the Republicans will take any opportunity to use what Democrats say in interviews to their advantage.
It’s never the other way around.
Nobody is going after Deval Patrick as far as I know…..and it’s fine. Bain is not under attack, it’s not what the President is questioning,…… ……it’s the Job Creator claim and why being an executive at Bain qualify him for the job
Please everybody. Remember we were all going to call the DOB Voting Rights Division today at (202) 307-2767. I called and was very polite, just expressed my deep concerns and frustration with the voter suppression in PA and now in FL. The woman on the phone was very nice and said the DOJ was on it. It’s definitely worth piling on the calls.
Thank you Jackie. I called and spoke with the person answering at the DOJ Voting Rights Division and stated simply that I realized she and her colleagues were totally aware of the concerted effort by Republicans to obstruct and deny voting rights but that that was not want I wanted to discuss. Told her I wanted to share a potential solution. She immediately acknowledged the problem, took my phone number and is going to have a DOJ lawyer in the division call me. If they do, I’ll outline the potential solution and the justifications for deploying it. And report their response to all here at TOD.
While several Florida elections supervisors have expressed serious concerns about Gov. Rick Scott’s (R) controversial effort to remove voters it thinks may be non-citizens from the state’s voter rolls, one supervisor has drawn a line in the sand.
Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections Susan Bucher, a former Democratic state representative, told ThinkProgress in an interview that while the state of Florida sent her county 115 names of voters it considered “sure matches” with a list of non-citizens, her office determined the list’s documentation to be “not credible” and has not sent out letters asking for verification of citizens to any of those voters.
Chips must be busy working her “real job” because poor Martha is still waiting for her pic this morning…..she wanted the “wet one” Anything Ms Chips has to do is fine by me…she always comes through with flying colors! However, I AM looking forward to seeing that here…..
I was trying to find an article I read a few weeks ago about the Romney’s campaign strategy….there’s a word for it, it end with ING but I can’t remember the word……….
The strategy to follow the President at every event, to have their troup on the ground in the area, to drive in circle…etc…..and now sending hecklers!!
I didn’t find the article yet but I found it….I didn’t see it last week….
I had to laugh at the headline
The Headline: ”Romney Campaign Protests Biden Event With Cory Booker Heads”
”Upset with the Obama campaign’s attackson Bain Capital, the three protestors were organized by the Romney campaign and the local Republican party. Under Booker’s face, the signs said “stop Obama’s nauseating attacks.”
This bodes bad for Robme more than for just the obvious, but for the lack of teabaggin participation. We know all you gotta do is give them a sandwich, any kind of apparel with a flag motif, and a place to park their walkers, then they’re good to go.
People, let’s stop freaking out what these numbnutz do. So these paid shills or whackos booed the PC. bfd. Just imagine whose cause they are helping by all their stupid antics ? Not definitely mittbot’s.
Let’s keep the eye on the ball and start spreading the positive and true messages about this prez’s achievments, debunk the disgusting lies from turdblossom and mittbot, fund raise, GOTV.
It seems the GOP party is all about disruption since the summer the teabaggers protested ACA at the legislators meetings with constituents. I remember seeing how they shut down the meetings with their antics. I attended a meeting by my Dem Rep to let him see he had prohealthcare advocates too. Not being able to discuss is stiffling free speech. They are supposedly so Constitutionally oriented and still oppose free speech. I think they should be able to protest just not at a distance that stops the event.
Thought this was a weird, semi-intriguing story re. Fl. Atty Gen Pam Bondi. Saw her on CNN during the height of the Trayvon Martin case. She reminded me of a blond Katherine Harris, I would not buy a used car from her. So anyhoo—–she invites all her dearest and dearest BFFs, including Gov. Purge Voters Scott, to a destination wedding —her 3rd—-at the Ritz Carlton in the Caymans—–money to hide?—-and the party goes on but the wedding part never happens. No one seems to know why. She is supposedly next in line to be gov. of that screwed up state. http://www.tampabay.com/news/humaninterest/article1232844.ece
That was a weird story, but she is a Republican from Florida. She appeared on “Scarborough Country” numerous times. Any friend of Morning Joe’s is questionable.

We were packing up after another Overpass Light Brigade bridge party, and were standing around chatting in the chilly evening air. Some folks had already left the West Allis neighborhood where we park to be near a favorite overpass on I-894. I was putting the LED signs into the back of the Subaru, making sure that everything was tucked away for the ride home to Wauwatosa. Joe and I had been discussing where to meet next, since we plan to go out every night until the recall election, now only five days away. One of our overpass friends came over with an odd look on her face. I could tell that something was wrong. Somebody broke the window out of one of our cars.

Blowing bubbles. Totally juvenile.
If this happened at a Romney event they would be dragged out.
They suddenly got quiet.
Still can’t believe that happened. Childish behavior knows no bounds it seems.
This should have been by invitation only. Mistake!
It’s OK. It shows the rudeness and character of Romney supporters.
This guy up now is in their face!!
Says, thanks for the bubbles, it’s better than the smoke Romney is blowing.
Where is Deval Patrick…?????
Taking donations from Bain! LOL!
This Mass, mayor is kicking some serious ass!!!!!!!!!!!!
Exactly he really is good. Straight up facts stated loud & bold.
Who was that guy?!
The mayor of Summerville, MA.

Rice, Smiley, Keyes, Cornel West, Cain, Allen West, and the rest of those who have forgotten what it was like to grow up in America at a disadvantage.
What a brainwashed tool condi rice is..absolutely DISGRACED.
Go Axe!
Axelrod:
“It’s great to be in Massachusetts, Obama Country!”
Axe looks GREAT. He’s lost a lot of weight.
These Romney supporters must be the “real Americans”….they chant USA, like they think that plastering a sticker on their cars that says, “I support our troops” actually DOES ANYTHING. All the while, ignoring the real issues. What frauds.
As a “real American” myself they embarrass all of us.
These may be the only voters for Mitt Romney right here. Ya know our side should start shouting USA too!
Axelrod says: These might be Romney’s only MA voters right here.. lol.. well done.
“You can’t handle the truth my friend. ” If you could you’d quiet down!
Asking “where are the jobs?” is that what they’re saying? When MA has 5% unemployment?
Solandra hahahahahaha
They sound so desperate to me
You may have hit on a nice campaign ad- Desparation! Have footage of these loosers chanting instead of disputing or listening!
Oh. ABSOLUTELY! They don’t WANT to know the facts or the truth….they are desperate, and it showed up nicely today.
Like cornered rabid mitt rats?
Where are the mics? Now there is a horn? I do not even know what they’re shouting now.
Sounds like they bussed in the BYU campus again. That was kind of a mess, in my opinion. Looks like juvenile disruption is going to be the Willard campaign strategy.
These jerks are acting like Ron Paul Supporters…..
That was a good answer from Axe regarding how Mitt at Bain doesn’t translate into how to run govt.
The media will now run over and interview the protesters …
Good job Lis and Brad!!!!
THIS! Let’s hide the facts from the country…MA KNOWS:)
Humor break—-Colbert on Willard’s Amercia. Too delicious not to post:
http://gawker.com/5914472/stephen-colbert-pledges-allegiance-to-mitt-romneys-amercia
BAM! Mr. Bubbles kinda looked like a young Mittens:)
Wondering if these guys were all the contingent of Bain Capital on their lunch break:)
Right. This reminds me of the GOP mob that stormed the election recount in Florida. Bullies…..
Ah, yes. The “Brooks Brothers Riot.”
That’s exactly what I was thinking when I was just reading about it up thread. There needs to be a quick solution to this.
I rest my case.

Pretty darn funny!!!
President Obama and Mitt Romney campaigns both claim favorable messages from Deval Patrick interview
There you have it……I’m posting this following a comment in the other thread: ”Is Deval Patrick a Democrat?”
I guess it’s better than the Cory Booker episode…50-50….can’t expect too much from them.
Thank you, Jackie:) I’m done with my coffee now….and of course that was on my “to do list” this morning…..

And this:)

Nice job, Bob:) As usual!

Go get them Bobfr!
I hope the video will be up soon, I want to see these idiots
Chips must be busy working her “real job” because poor Martha is still waiting for her pic this morning…..she wanted the “wet one”
Anything Ms Chips has to do is fine by me…she always comes through with flying colors!
They were 3??? 3 people …..lol…….
LyING,StalkING,panderING,BullshitING,?????
FumblING, MumblING, StumblING.
*this not it
bracketing………….that’s the word I was looking for
This bodes bad for Robme more than for just the obvious, but for the lack of teabaggin participation. We know all you gotta do is give them a sandwich, any kind of apparel with a flag motif, and a place to park their walkers, then they’re good to go.
His stupid name was bracketing.

BAM!

LOL! Axe is never skurred. Love him.
It’s amusing that Willard is going to lose 3 of his 4 “home” states: Mass, Mich, and Cali. I guess he’s always got Utah.
Excellent PJ. Tweeted.
What about New Hampshire?
PERFECT! They should video the mob blowing bubbles and make it into an ad. Willard’s had that mob mentality since high school when he cut the boy’s hair like the demon barber from hell.

Mitt Romney’s Ads: Still Wrong on the Stimulus

This is Great News…….
That should be fun!
This is good news, but it still won’t be enough shut up armchair campaign manager Ed Schultz obsessing about President Obama going to Wisconsin.
Go Bill!
I don’t trust Bill. Never will.
Speaker John Boehner doesn’t mince words.
“Let’s call bulls— bulls—,” he told House Republicans in a closed meeting this morning. “This election is about jobs, jobs, jobs.”
Gee, what’s his House voting on today?
Postponed Suspension (1 Bill)
H.R. 3541– Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act (PRENDA) of 2012, as amended (Rep. Franks – Judiciary)
What’s that? An anti-abortion bill of course, to ban a non-existent practice of women aborting fetuses just because they’ll turn into girl babies or black babies.
Boehner’s got a really strange idea of what “jobs” means.
Amen.
