This is gorgeous.

Congrats on first!
I really feel for POTUS & FLOTUS today.. I couldn’t stomach being in the same room with this scoundrel.
Neither could I but you know our President and Michelle will handle the occasion with grace, dignity and probably even smiles and hugs: because that is who they are. They are so much cooler than I am. And I can’t believe I am saying this, but don’t be too hard on Shrub today, he knows. He knows what the “Cheney Presidency” did to this country. Cheney does not care. I saw a picture of Bush at this past 911 commenoration in NYC with the President, Michelle, and Laura Bush, and he had his head slightly bowed (this was going in, before the ceremonies) and the expression on his face told me all I needed to know. He knows.
Now, Now POTUS & FLOTUS are always gracious. What I can’t stand is President Obama can’t call Interpol on the international murderer.

Smugness comes to mind…At least Joe is there:)
Yeah, that’s way Good!
I am not watching. Don’t know if I can. Please report. Are you going to post pictures? Not sure if I want you to, but I would probably look at them. I always want to see the Prez, Michelle, and Joe.
Who? Cheney? See my comment above.
Didn’t want to leave Cory uninformed, especially since he’s out of a comm director these days …

Do I really care about a portrait of Bush? Not…….And whats with these so called female rwnj’s like S.E. Cupp(can’t stand her). What are they supposed to do to advance the debate? Mascots for a mascot..
I cannot comprehend how S. E. Cupp has a job. I have never her utter an intelligent comment, and she makes Liz Cheney seem sweet.
A real talking points queen with ugly glasses.
S.E.Cupp has a job because Now’s Alexis Wagner thinks she needs a Republican to “balance” her “panel” or whatever that group of hacks is supposed to be. As much as I like Alex, I can’t have my TV on MSNBC when the rightwingers are given a platform to spew lies. I laugh my butt off every morning with Stephanie Miller on Current, and wait till the evening for, maybe Rachel or Lawrence McDonnell. I also try to catch Jennifer Granholm on Current. I’ll watch Eliot Spitzer sometimes, depending on what he’s featuring and I NEVER look at Cenk. I am for free speech, but Current needs to be unapologetically liberal and Cenk is just a whiny, as you guys say “firebagger.”

TAB (Take A Break) joke
A woman, calling Mount Sinai Hospital, said, “Hello, I want to know if a patient is getting better.”
The voice on the other end of the line said, “What is the patient’s name and room number?”
She said, “Yes, darling! She’s Sarah Finkel, in Room 302.”
He said, “Oh, yes. Mrs. Finkel is doing very well. In fact, she’s had two full meals, her blood pressure is fine, she’s going to be taken off the heart monitor in a couple of hours and if she continues this improvement, Dr. Cohen is going to send her home Tuesday.”
The woman said, “Thank God! That’s wonderful! Oh! That’s fantastic! That’s wonderful news!”
The man on the phone said, “From your enthusiasm, I take it you must be a close family member or a very close friend!”
She said, “I’m Sarah Finkel in 302! Cohen, my doctor, doesn’t tell me a word!”
Nite-nite! Pleasant dreams!
LOL, if it wasn’t a joke; I wonder how much is her doctor gonna charge her.
Why is Steele always on MSNBC. So whack.
And then calls PBO ‘Obama’ and calls Bush ‘President Bush’. Sickening.
They pay him to be there. Bottom line? It’s his job and MSNBC has decided that he brings in revenue. or at least he fits their business model. It has nothing to do with our political views. MSNBC is trying to push that this meeting is awkward, but it isn’t. These guys are not personal adversaries (with the exception of Cheney), they are pplitical foes and both families are gracious in meeting with each other. I give Bush credit for staying out of the limelight (of course no Repub wanted him out there). This is a tradition that PBO will also experience, regardless who’s in office. I hope his predecessor is as gracious as he his with Bush.
Whether we like it or not, Bush gets to have his portrait unveiled during a ceremony. Now after they leave, PBO will probably have it turned backwards.
I do think I like daughter Jenna—daughter Barbara seems nice too but don’t see her as much. Jenna put her arm around Joe B. and always seems warm and friendly. Of course, she has always supported her dad but I like the kind of stories she does for Today—-wonder how she got that job :)—–they seem to come from a Democratic/liberal frame of mind.
Jenna the blonde one? I think she takes after her mother.
btw, sending Bill Clinton to WI is a very smart move by the campaign.
PBO ON NOW

Gunnite chips. I really mean it this time.
I love President Obama….he’s such an inspiration…………but this is difficult to watch………
Hi all, can someone direct me to the website that shows what the DOJ is doing. There was a link in one of Chip’s posts but I don’t remember where it was and looking through some of them, I don’t see it (could be eye-sight problems too). The site, I believe, also chronicles the different things DOJ is working on regarding voter suppression. I’m in a debate on FB regarding this. Seems there’s a petition going around to call the White House and tell President Obama to DO something….whaaa-aaat? I wrote about what is happening “behind the scenes” but would like the link so folks can read for themselves and stop hollering at the president…..sigh. Thanks in advance..
And that petition that is going around, at least the one I saw, is from Credo. I think that DK has one too
Thank you desertflower……..
“sit down”! still hasn’t gained any class.. still trash. I detest him completely.
President Obama is unbelievably gracious.
Sid down! A reaal class act, eh? NOT…….
what happened? who was W. talking to?
He was talking to the audience and trying to make a funny.
Well, alrighty, the official pictures are unveiled and Bush gets to do the wild thang one more time. That is, stand in the WH at the podium and make funny. Only this time the funny is harmless. He is hilarious……, gotta give it to him.
This is definitely a Bush crowd.
He gets to invite his guests to his unveiling, why wouldn’t they be his crowd? That’s why he spoke to them as he did, ‘sit down’. Then he thanks PBO for letting him invite them. I’m liking this Bush and Laura a whole lot better than I did 8 years ago. Nothing wrong with honoring this tradition.
It was a nice ceremony for everyone. I hope we never see FLOTUS rescuing W’s portrait from a burning WH.
ha, ha, unless it’s needed to use stop the flames. Even a fire wouldn’t want to get anywhere near him, just like his fellow Repub Amuricuns.
Good one, Bill! I hope so, too.
All this exhuberant applause for Busch is a little bit sickening. I guess he loaded the deck with friends and family! That was sweet what the Bush girls said to Malia and Sasha.
I could have done without the visuals of shrub (I could no help myself) leading after 911. Ok go home now. OH crap no- Shrub says PBO can now when wresling with difficult choices look at his portrait and ask “What would George do?” No way!
Well, PRESIDENT Obama might ask that question (doubtful) but even if he did, he would likely choose to do exactly the opposite of what ‘george’ would do, or consider anything but! Poor little george, he truly has no idea the havoc he has wrought. How can that be possible?
sorry greatest first lady is Michelle Obama. Screw you GW Bush.. I hope the artist remembered the flying shoes in your portrait.
Loved Obama’s words—–perfect balance of truth and graciousness. W is being funny! But he just lied when he introduced Laura as the best first lady ever.
I forgive him for that one- it’s his hearfelt opinion. If this was the ONLY lie he’s told the American people.
I will not watch this.

there is nothing humble about these two.
The room full of Bush cronies, that was too much. I can’t stand how it makes me feel to see W in the WH again. Sorry, he turns my stomach. UGH.
I think this is a good and uplifting ceremony. There’s laughter (which we need more of), and happy, happy all around. We get hung up on the political, but these folks are members of a very exclusive club. We should take a page out of PBO’s and FLOTUS’ book on how to remain poised and gracious, even when you want to do the neck snapping, talk to the hand, eat my grits move on them.
Agreed——actually enjoyed it more than I expected. (did not have to suffer as much as expected) The Obamas spoke beautifully with class and dignity, W. was sorta funny which helped, and it does make you appreciate that connection at some level, at least, of all presidents. It’s an exclusive club.
Our president and First lady are a class act.
On a side note: He and Michelle were the only A A’s in the room. I’ll let the other comments filling my head go.
Nope…Colin Powell was there with his wife…and I spotted another “blaH” at the end
What? Where’s Dr. Condelesa? Oh…… she must be grading finals.
Maybe she’s embarrassed for her endorsement yesterday of Willard where she said there was no American leadership now, that we need Willard who understands American exceptionalism and knows how to lead with that in mind. (pathetic and dishonest)
or maybe, she didn’t want to be there as the other woman……hmmm nothing like being in the same room with the wifey.

FLOTUS- i MEANT FLOTUS!
Our Presdient is so classy and the First Lady is just radiating her beauty. ♥ her hair and dress. President Obama praised Bush for using the bull horn doing 9-11. What a class act!
You knew this portrait unveiling had to take place. So it has. A relief to have it over with. But the silver lining is that this reminds us that another with the Obamas will occur when their portraits are unveiled and will forevermore hang in the White House. I take great comfort in that.
Mitt Romney is George Bush all over again. Wealthy kid of a wealthy politician who has no earthly idea what it means to make the money stretch from one paycheck to another… Only in America my ass. Only in the Republican Party is more like it:
Only in the Republican Party can a college dropout, married four times with no children call women sluts for using birth control. Maybe the addiction to Oxycontin made Rush sterile?
Only in the Republican Party can a blonde with big feet claim the widows of the 9/11 attacks “enjoyed their husbands’ deaths” and then go on to be a NY Times best-selling author and conservative analyst for Fox News.
Only in the Republican Party can an idiot from Alaska run for Vice President on a platform of abstinence only while keeping an early pregnancy test strip in her purse for when the kids want an after school snack.
Only in the Republican Party can Newt Gingrich, divorced twice (cheated thrice?), give stump speeches about the sanctity of marriage.
Only in the Republican Party can John Boehner and Donald Trump get their skin that orange.
Love these ladies. Read the whole thing………….
All of them are good, but “blonde with big feet”
That’s Ann Coulter, I think.

Just heard Tamron ask about this, but does anyone understand why supposed Obama surrogates go on TV to sabotage the Obama campaign message about Bain—–like Booker and Deval Patrick today? I don’t get this at all. I think we might need some different spokespeople. Is Axelrod—-who is excellent—-all we’ve got? It’s sorta embarrassing. And destructive—-giving the Willard campaign attack ad material.
I can’t believe Patrick is doing this today while Axe is in MA holding a presser. I am lving this strategy by the Campaign. I like the idea of the strategist taking it to the people to make news.
It never happens on the other side because they only repeat Frank Luntz’s talking points…”job creator” ”job killing” ”out of control spending”….it’s hard to go off message this way….
What Cory Booker did was wrong, calling the ads ”nauseating”…. and he got the appropriate push back….but what Deval Patrick did is not the same, not that I watched the interview but from what I read, he defended Bain….well something like that…
He said it was a fine company and he had a lot of friends there…..well that’s it….vulture capitalism is not illegal, I find their practice disgusting but not everybody does obviously…..Bain is not there for creating jobs, it is there for profits, profits for their investors…so it if a fine company for investors and people who work there.
They only think the surrogates have to add if they want to defend Bain is this ”President Obama is not attacking Bain either”…
I can’t believe how the media manipulate this……his ”job creator” claim and how being a former executive is not something that qualifies him for the job of President…that’s it…..
Please checkout the boston.com website and let me know if the “READ MORE” link is working.
At BOSTON.COM, there is an OFA banner about Romney Economics. You click on the banner and then you get details about Romney’s record. At the end there is a RED “LEARN MORE” BUTTON. Earlier today when I clicked on the red ‘read more’ button it takes you to OFA website for more details. I just tried again and it’s not working. I am wondering what’s going on. Maybe OFA needs to be notified. Anyone else encountering the same problem??
I was just reading about what happened earlier….more details ……I actually don’t remember seeing anything like this….it’s normal to see some protestors outside of events but when they are send by a campaign, aides?, interns?…Is it a first?
Romney aides, interns, and volunteers flooded out of the campaign’s headquarters here with signs — and bubbles — to protest Axelrod and Obama, while Obama supporters chanted “Hey hey, ho ho, Mitt Romney has got to go.”
Romney supporters responded by chanting “Solllyyynndraaa” like Bruins fans heckling the visiting team.
As Obama surrogates took the podium, Romney supporters booed, and chanted “wrap it up.” Some got a call-and-response chant going: “What do we want? Jobs! When do we want them? Now!” And some Romney aides even blew bubbles at the speakers.
So we can expect them to do this at every event…
My Mama always said, “if you can’t find anything nice to say don’t say anything at all”. My lips are zipped on Bush being in the WH today!
Meanwhile the verdit in the John Edwards case will be revealed any minute now….
Yea donna dem! Your mama and mine!
Erm, just wondering. Was this lunch – dinner shindig with ye old ex-president an arrivederci thing by the current president or what?
In other words, ( I think I am actually afraid to type the words… but) was POTUS & FLOTUS saying goodbye. Okay, the truth is, what I have noticed is, throughout the news mediums, whomever the politicians are who have amassed the most money, NOT amassed the most population support, but the most money, that politician advances in the polls and tends nearly one thousand percent to win the election he or she is competing in. That is extraordinary. It is as if the money itself gets up and goes to the poll and not only votes, but is granted all the rights and privileges of a citizen in this society simply by showing up somewhere on the campaign trail of the politician who rakes in the most loot.
What peaked my interest is the tale in Minnesota. Seriously?! How can that governor face such a massive recall by the states population; be so low in the polls months ago; then lo-and-behold, a figure of unnatural proportions for a gubernatorial race comparatively to the states size is spent to assist him in keeping his seat — and his poll numbers magically advances until they are not only neck-and-neck with his opponent, at times others have him surpassing his opponent. Um, that’s rather odd. Am I to accept that some folks just arrived back from vacationing on Mars and have only now been catching up with what’s happening in their state, thus, the governor’s ads recently connected with them and they all collectively went, “AHA, we nearly fell for the recall baloney?”
Are you for real?
You’re probably right CTGirl! Just a bit of a nail biter all this topsy-turvy polling stuff
What recall in Minnesota ?
Who are you?
My alias is Lightfoot. Did I get the state wrong?
Yes. I think you mean Wisconsin.
Hmm, time will unveil!
I had that same feeling. The President seemed very low today, like he felt he would lose. I hope I am wrong
Know what you mean. Hope we’re off, if we are talking about the same thing.
Methinks you two are on the wrong blog
You might be right chipsticks. I might be on the wrong blog. I have been a supporter of this President since his days in chicago. I have seen him lose and I have seen him win. If this blog is only for one point of view then I am sorry. I simply expressed my opinion I thought this was one blog where that was allowed. My bad.
I am sorry but, really? May 31st? Really? The election is 6 months away and today, May 31st, you have a “feeling” … I support a winner and he does not have a defeatist attitude, so you folks need to suck it up and not bring this shit here!
Sorry about the language Chips and all, but this is unbelievable!
What in the world is this ….? He seemed low … maybe you are projecting. He has said multiple times .. flat out … we’re gonna win; I am going to win. I believe him.
Lightfoot, it’s Wisc, not Minnesota. Also too, when did they say good-bye? They were unveiling a portrait of the Bush’s, not singing their swan song. Now, speaking of lunch…lay off the mushrooms. #kidding
OMG people…let’s stop with the hand wringing and bed wetting. It was an event that was stacked with Bush people…what were they supposed to do? The Prez and Flotus were making jokes and everyone was laughing. I’m going to have to step back from the interwebs because this is getting ridiculous. Geez. Chips can you please post the Chill the eff out/I got this pic of the president.
…was POTUS & FLOTUS saying goodbye”
Lightfoot? Has your account been hacked?? I’m serious. That’s the most trollish pile of steaming crap I’ve seen here.
I don’t think there’s anyone here who isn’t worried that the President could lose and the 24 hour news cycle with all the polls and spin demoralizes people. It’s a huge stretch to interpret this as POTUS saying goodbye and we should just accept defeat because the other side has a lot of money. Polls will go up and down. I see 2012 as a test of the decency and sanity of the American people even more than 2008 was and our job is to help them pass it.
um……….. I’m gonna refrain from responding to the foolish implication that PBO and Miche are throwing in the towel and saying fare-the-well by celebrating with the Bushies and their turd friends.
Probably because it’s stupid.
That makes two of us, Lisa. OFA teams are still being put in place in small counties throughout the US. People are contributing to the president’s campaign in time, money, sweat and tears every day. We’ve got miles to go, so let’s keep focused and keep working. All the petty distractions are meant to get us down. To hell with that. The president said it would be close, but we would win. That’s all I need to hear.
I just finishing watching FLOTUS on Rachel Ray show today.
The behavior of the Romney interns, aides, volunteers today were disgusting. I don’t know why but I expected better, then again why should I expect them to act like someone with some sense, after all they support Mitt Romney so they must be crazy, and they sure show that.
Results to be read shortly….

Crossroads ad slams Obama over company that got taxpayer money from Governor Romney
By Greg Sargent
The Rove-founded American Crossroads released a video this week that drew widespread media attention. It launched what is fast becoming a key GOP attack line: Questioning Obama’s record on “public equity.”
The video slammed Obama for investing government money in green energy companies like Solyndra, and losing it when the companies hit the skids. “Public equity President Obama — playing Wall Street games with our money,” the vid intones.
It turns out, however, that one of the companies in the ad also received millions in government money from another administration: That of Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney.
For crying out loud. These idiots “think” too much……….
Mitt Romney’s campaign justified its secrecy in setting up a press conference in front of Solyndra’s California headquarters on Thursday by warning of a conspiracy by White House officials to potentially sabotage their efforts.
“We knew, if word got out, that Solyndra would do everything in their power, and the Obama administration would do everything in their power, to stop us from having this news conference,”an unnamed adviser told reporters, per CNN.
Reporters raised the question of how this devious plot to derail the event would work given that the freedom to hold a press conference in public is a fairly basic right.
“Well, he’s only the president of the United States,” the adviser replied. “I mean, they could work with town officials to deny us access.”
“He’s delusional,” a Democratic aide told TPM when asked about the charge.
Isn’t that exactly what Romney’s people did to David Axelrod today? So they know what they’re talking about from their own experience. Unfortunately, they might have set the stage…
You know! IOKIYAR!!
So desperate to make headlines. “Empty suit” doesn’t even come near describing who he is.
As governor, Romney picked winners and losers of his own
Obama is giving taxpayer money to big donors and then watching them lose it,” Romney’s campaign said in an Internet video released on Tuesday.
It’s a powerful line of attack that connects failed ventures like Solyndra, the bankrupt California-based solar panel maker that defaulted on a $535 million loan from the U.S. Energy Department, with the trillion-dollar budget deficits and sluggish U.S. economy of the past four years.
But it might invite unfavorable comparison with Romney’s tenure as governor of Massachusetts from 2003 to 2007. During that time, Romney pursued a hands-on approach to economic development that favored some industries over others and, in some instances, singled out individual firms for special favors.
Romney, a former private equity executive, backed tax breaks for film makers and biotech and medical-device manufacturers. His administration promoted venture capital-style funds that extended loans to start-up companies, some of which subsequently went out of business.
As the state’s top salesman, he led the effort to lure desirable employers through tax breaks and other incentives.
Sometimes, as with Bristol-Myers Squibb, Romney’s efforts panned out. Other times they did not.
A $2.5 million state loan helped lure Rhode Island biotech firm Spherics Inc across the state line to Massachusetts in 2005. Romney’s economic development secretary, Ranch Kimball, touted the move as “a tangible result of the combined and coordinated efforts of the public and private sectors to highlight the benefits of locating in Massachusetts.”
The company shut down three years later, laying off all of its employees and defaulting on $1.5 million of the loan, according to MassDevelopment, the state development authority.
Does anybody really like John Edwards anymore?
I mean besides Cenk Uhygur and the Young Jerks?
I was never sold on him at all.
I am incensed by what MA Gov. Deval Patrick did today. Here’s a comment I posted on Daily Kos diary referencing Artur Davis defection to GOP: I strongly suspect that:
After 2008, Romney went Judas-fishing to pad up his assault-in-waiting on Pres. Obama. He knew exactly how much headlines stunts like Davis’s & other black Dem turncoats would generate for his lackluster campaign.
Romeny’s entire shtick is I’m-White-&-rich-vote-for-me-or-else-I’ll-bully-U-&-chop-off-your-hair-2012″. He has zero scruples and there isn’t a dark evil stunt he won’t pull or scrape the bottom of the barrel to get the presidency. We will see worse. Already another Judas is squawking – Gov. Deval Patrick openly dissing Pres. Obama & singing Bain’s praises AGAIN today. Someone from Bain is calling in chits & squeezing the pincer tighter on corporate Dems’ balls.
The point is to generate endless narratives & fill news cycles with weaponized decibels just as the teabagger goons did during HCR.
Tragic seeing what greed does.
If Deval can’t “surrogate” he should STFU!!!
What did he say other than, there’s nothing wrong with Bain as a private equity firm? This is PBO’s message. PBO has said that he doesn’t find anything wrong with the private equity, only found Mitt’s using his position there as a qualification for the presidency. Private equity firms are legal private equity entities. They work within the parameters of the law. PBO can’t be perceived as having something against a lawful institution. His surrogates have to drive that point home to the indies and repub moderates, no matter how we feel about their practices. Show me what Patrick said, other than that. I don’t call that singing praises, it’s just stating the fact.
THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH PRIVATE EQUITY FIRMS! If we don’t like them, then we need to vote people into office who can change it.
Those are my thoughts exactly.
This would be SUCH good news for those with autism!
Thanks for posting this df. x
Afternoon everyone. People are crying at Chez LL, as the in-laws leave tomorrow. It’s gonna be a long day, methinks.

Jury convicts Edwards on count 3 only. The jury was sent back to decide other five counts. Not sure on what count 3 is about, other than it was money accepted by check in 2008. I don’t see this going anywhere cause the juries have to find at least one purpose from the donor was that the donor was trying to influence. If that’s the case, then what the heck are superpacs doing?
Was the verdict read as a conviction?
No…just that they reached a verdict on count 3.
no, sorry, I should have said the jury reached a verdict on count 3.

New post everyone:
Abacus Federal Savings Bank, which caters to Chinese immigrants in New York and other communities, has been charged with selling hundreds of millions of dollars worth of fraudulent mortgages to Fannie Mae.
The bank’s managers and employees schemed to falsify loan applications so that borrowers would qualify for mortgages, Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance said on Thursday. It then sold those mortgages to Fannie Mae, Vance said.
Nineteen employees of the bank also were charged in the case, eight of whom have pleaded guilty. Those charged include Yiu Wah Wong, the bank’s chief credit officer, who reported to the bank’s chief executive, and loan origination supervisor Wai Hung “Raymond” Tam.
The charges include grand larceny, conspiracy, residential mortgage fraud and falsifying business records.
