Thanks Meta ;-)
Congrats Gobrooklyn on first.
Woohoo! I wasn’t even trying. I saw a link to this post on twitter and came over.
You go, gpbrooklyn!
Sorry for the typo :(
GB = winner!!!!!!!!
Thank you. Thank you very much. I love that cover by the way. Definitely getting her book and sending one to my mom.
The book is available at COSTCO.
The lettering is raised in the title and the author’s name, very nice touch! The entire book is simply an excellent work! Your mother will be delighted!
Just ordered from Amazon. Combining two of my favorite things, gardening and Michelle Obama. I also got a book called “What would Michelle Do” so I could qualify for the super saver shipping. :)
Ordered mine from Amazon too, but couldn’t quite manage the extra item for the shipping, but as Amazon is right here in Seattle, I placed the order on 5/29, and the book is here today! Fantastic!
I hope it sells like hotcakes! The other book is full of good advice about how to be more like Michelle. I’m hoping for tips on composure and keeping my cool and staying positive. I’d also like to know how to appear 10 inches taller than I am. But hey!
Can’t wait for them to arrive!
Haha…..”how to appear 10 inches taller”
Bought it from B -A-M yesterday and read most of it. Most of it is in Michelle’svoice. It is like she is holding a friendly, but informative conversation about a subject she cares about. All of the kitchen staff , members of the park service and even the bee keeper have sections. There is so much more. I have always wanted to have a container garden, but was overwhelmed by all of the information that was available. There is a short, easy to understand, step by step list in the book that even I can follow. Another nice thing about the book is that Michelle’s four-legged son has a co-starring role throughout the book. I really enjoyed American Grown.
I liked her anecdote about how Bo likes to jump up on her lap when either Malia or Sasha are sitting on her lap! A cuddling, loving family. We must do everything to keep them in the White House.
I received my copy of “American Grown” today. I can’t wait to read it and make the blueberry pound cake following the recipe in the book. :)
I have got to get that book.
Cool, cool, cool!!
hawt, hawt, hawt. For me.
Off you go to the naughty mat, sir amk!
You too, africatimes2!
She is soooo pretty and genuine. I love that dress too.
FLOTUS said on the View that she has to be herself, people can tell when someone is being phony. I want to let FLOTUS know how much I respect her, and on the View she talk about what kind of First Lady she is, I have to write her and let her know what kind of First Lady I think she is.Let her know how proud I am of her.
I’d like to share a story with you. Some of you may know that I just returned from a trip to Brazil. It was a wonderful trip…fabulous! One of the things we did was to go to the massive statue of Christ the Redeemer that overlooks the city of Rio de Janiero…one of the most beautiful views in the world. It really was an overwhelming experience. While I was there, I thought about the First Family and wondered if they were as overwhelmed with the experience as we were.
After the tour (you have to take this little cable car/train to the base of the statue and back) we were walking back to our bus. I have interject here as say that tour we were on specializes in focusing on the African diaspora, so the group was made up entirely of African Americans. As we crossed the street, there was a man waiting for a bus. He must of heard us speaking english so he started shouting, “OBAMA! OBAMA! OBAMA FAMILY! OBAMA! Well needless to say, we were all floored, but we shouted it right back to him! It was soooo special and of course, the big baby here started blubbering! They love our President in Brazil!
BTW: Our hotel in Rio (we also visited Salvador, Bahia in the northern part of the country) was on Copacabana Beach, just a little ways down the beach from the hotel the 1st Family stayed at, the J.W. Marriott…nice!
Sweet! Thank you for sharing. I must make it to Brazil one day.
Oh that’s fantastic Dakota.
What a lovely experience!
Heartwarming story! Sounds like you had a fantastic time – I have to get to Brazil at some point. Especially if they love President Obama out there. They must be great people. :)
They are wonderful people theo. I encourage you to visit. Brazil is hosting the World Cup in 2013 and the Olympics in 2016. They are sprucing up and building everywhere. In Salvador, they’re building a HUGE soccer stadium. I’ve never seen anything like it!
Thank you for sharing your experience…..the world loves our president and more people here love him too it’s just the haters get all the press.
Thank you everyone. I understand that there is some blackmail video out there. I’ll admit, I had my share of caiprihinas!
How does she manage to glow the way she does? There is just something about her that makes her so compelling you can’t take your eyes off her. It’s really a gift–one she just happens to share with her wonderful husband.
She is in her element…loving successful husband, bright beautiful precocious children who are healthy and happy, and she has her mom close by to share her life. Michelle Obama has the trifecta of all that is good in life. She has settled into the life of being first lady which she did not dream of becoming and made it look easy.
Very beautifully said! The First Lady is an amazing person! I am an oldie but I don’t remember other Presidential couples, other than JFK and Jackie, that possessed combination of charisma and intellect.
I love it when FLOTUS talks of POTUS tucking her in at night. And when he walk off that elevator, he is Barack and Daddy. How he is always doing special things to let her and the girls know how special they are. I hope they do the same for POTUS.
Scott Walker’s dirty money is funding Huffington Post. At least according to John Nichols of The Nation Magazine. On Tuesday, Nichols went on the Randi Rhodes show to discuss the Walker recall in Wisconsin (by the way, if you haven’t given to Tom Barrett and can afford to, please give), and in that conversation, he dropped a little bombshell – that the Walker campaign is advertising on the Huffington Post, and the Huffinton Post is happy to accept their money.
I was so glad President Obama stuck it to Arianna at the White House Correspondents Dinner.
She is pure scum. She won’t get a dime from me clicking on that full of crap site.
Donna, have you had your conversation with Pres. Obama? Have I missed it?????
Isonprize I had my phone call in December. ;)
I think you mean CollegeKay. She hasn’t rec’d her phone call as of yet.
aaaah, yes. Sorry, I did mean College Kay. Such lucky folks we are here at TOD!!!! I LOVE IT!!!
Isonnnnn…how are you ….
what time will the voter registration start…will we be manning tables
From me neither
she is the ideal mrs willard. no principles. make money anyway you can. make money off other poeple’s back and work
Yea I forgot about that……not paying them,…..
I remember when ”progressive and liberal” media people visited the President in December last year……she has some nerves I swear…To pretend she is liberal when she anything but that…..a RWer Republican, the biggest fraud there is.
”An all-star list of progressive and liberal media folks came to the White House today to chat with President Obama over coffee in the Roosevelt Room.
.Ed Shultz, etc…………stars of the interwebs Arianna Huffington, Josh Marshall of Talking Points Memo, Faiz Shakir of ThinkProgress and Joy Reid of The Reid Report.”
Also when the secret meeting that those shameless RWers (Newt Gingrich as well) had on the night of the inauguration and made a list of how to destroy the President…..
****Go after Tim Geithner……………was on the list
….amazingly Huffington went after Geithner from day 1, he didn’t even started his job and she’s started the attacks…
Coincidences? I think not…..We all know about her friendship with Gingrich……….she is vile,…to this day she still attack the President.
Finally the truth is coming out about the fake progressive, Arianna Huffington. As a californian who lived through her rabidly right wing diatribes against liberals, I’ve never trusted Arianna Huffington. The way the HuffPost came after President Obama, guns blazing, even before he took an oath of office convinced me that Arianna Huffington was a fraud who figured out a way to make money by pretending to be a liberal progressive, who even had the audacity of calling herself one of President Obama’s base. There is really no way of proving this but my gut instincts tell me me that Arianna voted for McCain.
So good of John Nichols to report that..thanks for the link, Chips!!
I seem to remember firebagger types liking Nichols..hope that doesn’t put their little heads into a quagmire quandry..or maybe I do.
That was really Sweet of you to apologize to shrubs everywhere, Chips. After all they bring us Oxygen to counteract all the Oxygen the bushits SUCK outta our Atmosphere.
The President is issuing a Executive order Friday, to help Veterans find Jobs.
Excellent. He is painting the thugs into a corner. I expect more EO’s on the way. He will use all his weapons till Nov and the thugs can’t do much about it.
Let the slimey fascist bastids piss and moan about that.
Beautiful — so warm and charming. Hey y’all! Michelle Obama is the First Lady of the United States!!!! (Sometimes I have to pinch myself  )
I know exactly how you feel! I have been known to catch the metro to the WH and just stand outside there staring at their home thinking, wow they are really in there. It’s hard to imagine sometimes.
Donna, have you had your conversation with Pres. Obama? Have I missed it?????
Donna – every time I’ve been in Washington, I’ve stood outside the White House thinking exactly the same thing: They’re real. And they really do live in there. The first or second time I was in Washington when Marine One brought President Obama home, and several of us were standing there in the light rain for an hour waiting to see the helicopter – and everyone got very excited when it flew overhead. I could see legs under the little gap under the helicopter, and found myself thinking “he’s real”. And smiling.
That feeling of awe that you have that we also share, is the exact same thing the wingnuts feel in reverse — hatred. They are shellshocked by the fact that President and First Lady Michelle Obama live there precisely because their whole self-identification is wrapped in the negation of the humanity of minorities. They simply cannot BE if their bigoted worldview is invalidated. It’s why they want a restoration of that blinkered worldview, and it is exactly what Romney is running on “Rich White power restoration 2012″ campaign.
You know what, Zizi, pretty soon, whether they like it or not, they will have to come to terms with the changing demographics. Here in California, though not in all parts, politicians are already waking up to that reality. For example, both Orange County and San Diego County used to be predominantly right wing Republican enclaves. While they are still Republican leaning, they are no longer predominantly Republican. My bet is that with the growing Hispanic population, in ten to twenty years( if not sooner) Orange and San Diego Counties will no longer be predominantly Republican. That’s the truth despite the fact Mitt Romney is building a San Diego (La Jolla) Western White House because he is so convinced that he is going to be President. Poor Mitt! He may find himself is a similar situation he had to endure in Massachusetts. In addition what the White supremacist are missing are the changed demographics of the U.S. military. No president can count on the morale of the U.S. military if he is anti-black, anti-hispanic, anti-women or anti-gay. The military brass know it and that is why they could no longer support DADT.
You are right that 2012 may be the last hurrah of those who are determined to maintain “white supremacy”; but even that is not guaranteed. If Democratic voters come out in the same numbers as they did in 2008, the GOP has no chance of regaining power. On the other hand, if Democrats act the way they did in 2010 by staying home because they were pissed off about the President, or just simply apathetic, then the GOP may temporally, and I stress temporally, regain power. Speaking for myself, I plan to work ten times as hard as I did in 2008 to make sure that “white supremacists” do not regain power in this country.
Yep. That’s why I have to catch myself often to remind myself to ENJOY this Presidency. I don’t let myself get too deep into despair or hand-wringing because 1) I’m living in historic times and I am a tiny part of this history; 2) because I knew it would never be easy and 3) I want to support this Presidency with all the good vibes and positivity that I can.
I’ll be in DC the end of July — maybe I’ll spot you gazing up at the White House, lol.
Ha! You just might :)
She is a perfect role model. No wonder the President is besotted. She radiates love and warmth.
So, who won tinights debate between Walker/Barett?
Their is no question, Barett is gaining ground and we have an early lead in early voting!
How did it go jovie ? Did Barett hit a winner tonight ?
Get out the vote to elect @Barrett4WI. Sign-up for shifts and #OwnYourVote: OFA.BO/events— Obama for America WI (@OFA_WI) May 31, 2012
Gd night to Chips and the TOD family. My visit to this sight has not been as frequent as before because my work life is now extremely demanding. But please know that I pray for this family, and PBO and his family every day. I want to encourage you all to keep on working for PBO’s re-election. I have no doubt that he will be re-elected in a landslide victory on November 6th. God has his back and yours.
And Chips, you are doing such a brilliant job with this blog. Even with the awesome task of promoting PBO’s re-election, you always find humorous ways to lift our spirit. The shrub pictures today were hilarious. Thank you so much for the stress buster.
What a kind and uplifting post, PrayerWarrior:) Thank you…the lights are always on here (amk is awake holding the fort down when the rest of us are sleeping!)
CLINTON covering for His Friend Booker-
President Bill Clinton veered sharply off message Thursday, telling CNN that Mitt Romney’s business record at Bain Capital was “sterling.”
“I don’t think that we ought to get into the position where we say ‘This is bad work. This is good work,’” Clinton said. “The man who has been governor and had a sterling business career crosses the qualification threshold.”
Clinton also went on to say that Romney’s time at Bain Capital represented a “good business career.”
The Obama campaign is in the third week of an all-out assault on Romney’s time as a corporate buyout specialist — accusing the GOP nominee of bankrupting companies and laying off workers all while pocketing a profit for investors.
But the negative tenor of their attacks on Wall Street have made some Democrats uncomfortable. Clinton is the highest profile Obama surrogate so far to show discomfort with the attacks on Bain, with Clinton even praising the company and Romney’s record. Newark mayor Cory Booker and Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick also both declined to press the attack against Bain.
In Booker’s case, he released a YouTube video clarifying his comments after calling the Obama attacks (and Republican counter-attacks on Obama) “nauseating” — all while being publicly chastised by top Obama staffers.
Clinton went on to predict that Obama would carry the day in November, and would beat Romney handily.
“I still think the president will win by five or six points. I’ve always thought so,” Clinton told guest host Harvey Weinstein, filling in for Piers Morgan.
What is with Bain that all the DLC Dems cone out of the woodwork???
This is unforgivable.
It’s amazing………”been governor and had a sterling business career crosses the qualification threshold.”
The so called moderate positions he had back then were just a way for him to get elected…..he is a dangerous RWer….very dangerous.
Terrible record as governor and he spent the last year over 200 days outside his state to set the foundation for his campaign…..another quitter like Palin.
…sterling business record…….yes I’m sure the workers who lost their jobs, pensions…. share his view…..when they closed their companies and Bain made million in profits.
A chronic pathological liar and dangerous war monger has NO qualifications to be president…none……
It’s amazing when any republican is interview and asked what they think of the President, they always pretty much give the same answer….he has been a failure….
I know the principle,….”we are better than them”….but this is getting ridiculous….
We need to all watch the repeat at 12 eastern.
See if he said more…
That was *nice* of CNN to not only leave out Harvey’s question, but also part of Clinton’s response. Harvey asked him about people who would vote for Romney based on his business record. Clinton’s response was not about Obama, it was about the voting public. He said people should focus on Romney’s record and Obama’s record and what it will do for the country. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2012/05/31/bill-clinton-predicting-obama-win-calls-romneys-business-career-sterling/
The way it works in politics is unfortunately just this: sound bites, edited clips…run in the media 24/7
So today Clinton praised Romney’s business career, his time as governor and said he was qualified to run,….
Romney gave an F grade on foreign policies to the President….he couldn’t even acknowledge anything good, anything….
That’s how the heartless liar operates….attack attack attack,….
He doesn’t need to be complimented in any way…..a dangerous sociopath is not qualified to be in any position of power…..
It’s just wrong,…..
Oh, you’re absolutely right. The thing is we shouldn’t let them do that TO US, the President’s supporters. A lot of people are going to tell a lot of lies and bend facts. They will put words into PBO’s mouth as well as his supporters. We need to push back with facts as often as we can. Clinton wasn’t so much standing up for Romney or even business. He’s saying those who would vote for Romney because of his business experience should consider what he will do to this country. What Romney’s government record is vs. PBO’s AKA the man who will continue to carry this country forward. OTOH, Clinton can say that because President Obama has brilliantly taken Romney’s one talking point about himself away from him.
I don’t think this is about principle. This is about ego and revenge.
”revenge”………you nailed it……I never trusted him.
For so long Bill Clinton has shamelessly traded on and made a boat-load of money off the fact that he is the only two term Democratic president in modern history…
His hangers-on have also made a ton of money wielding their supposed patent for knowing how to win elections against Republicans…
President Obama getting a second term would essentially take away that much tossed around bragging right Clinton and his cohorts vociferously trade on…
That and the fact that President Obama also has a Nobel Peace Prize which Clinton and his pals have aggressively and unsuccessfully lobbied for for years…
Bill Clinton did this same thing during the 2008 general elections – gushing and praising John McCain without ever being prompted and then having few and barely polite generic words for then Senator Obama…
Nothing has changed since then…
And if anyone really thinks things have, all they have to do is think about all of the Clinton friends, staff and even their daughter Chelsea and realize that not one has anything positive to say in support of President Obama and the First Lady…
Think also about the continued attempt to sabotage and diminish this Presidency from the left and notice always a recurring connection to the Clintons…
Eight long years of George Bush and Bill Clinton remained tongue-tied and camera shy through out…
But since President Obama took office, Bill Clinton’s everywhere but never to push the Democratic point of view and never seems to be able to muster more than a generic, lukewarm statement in support or defense of President Obama…
He constantly publicly grandstands, contradicting President Obama’s stance on key issues yet curiously always pleads the fifth on any state business related to his wife’s position…
We can all pretend not to notice, but Bill Clinton has not been anything remotely close to or played the role GOP statesmen and former presidents tend to play on behalf of their party incumbent…
GOP elders always support their own and even when they don’t like their guy, they keep it to themselves…
No public back-handed compliments, or damning with faint praise…and certainly no direct and indirect attacks, sabotage or colluding with the opposition party on various fronts including floating a third party and trying to field a No Labels candidate to challenge the party’s incumbent…
The story will be told someday and history will certainly judge Bill Clinton very harshly for his duplicity and his very central role in the multi-faceted attempts to sabotage the presidency of Barack Obama…
I don’t think this is about principle. This is about ego and revenge……
Well, a lot of these corporate Dems, of whom Bubba is chief, have to cover their asses because a lot of the financial de-regulation happened on their watch. Not only is PBO cleaning up a republican catastrophe, but he is also cleaning up corporate Dem messes. Bill Clinton is first and foremost a political animal and he filters everything through that lens. He is what he is.
OMG, does he know WTH he’s talking about? I’m so sick of him!
Bill Clinton — who took credit for a bubble economy. Who gave us the Telecom Bill which gave us unbridled RW media. Who ‘reformed’ welfare. Who repealed Glass-Steagall which led to the economic collapse.
And riding high on one of the best economic booms in American history he couldn’t behave well enough in the White House to assure a President Gore instead of a President Bush/Cheney.
STFU, you selfish, jealous bastard.
I’ve been thinking about this Wisconsin recall, and how many are clamouring for President Obama to go there to rally the troops. I remembered that in President Obama’s book, “Dreams from my Father”, he taught the communities how to fight their own battles. He didn’t fight the battles for them. It’s the same philosophy behind that saying, “Give a man a fish and he’ll eat for a day. Teach him to fish, and he’ll eat for a lifetime”. I think he isn’t going to Wisconsin partly because he’s busy running the world, but also because the people of Wisconsin need to feel empowered by winning this battle themselves. It will empower the whole country. If these people did the sit-in at the Capitol by themselves, gathered one million signatures by themselves, raised the conscience of the country by themselves, then they can oust this buffoon out of the governor’s mansion by themselves. And they’ll feel wonderful afterwards. If they wait for rallying by outside forces, then they won’t learn the lesson of owning their own power.
And that’s true for the entire country. Many people walked away after the election, leaving President Obama to work with a small band of followers, satisfied to throw rocks when they didn’t get their ponies. It really shouldn’t matter that the GOP are planning to soak the country with a billion dollars of lies and ugliness. People know what they’ve been through. They know what they’ve come out of. And if they don’t shake away this fog and apathy, and fight for their rights and their futures, then the GOP will win and ride roughshod over them. People need to own their own power.
So well said, theo I think you’re absolutely right!
+1. In short, the americans need to grow the fuck up.
Don’t hold your breath. Some of us feel so entitled that the chances aren’t great.
You made a really valid point. I agree Theo that he seems to have to do ALL the work but I dunno I am undecided on this. I think its too late at this point. A rally or two a couple of weeks ago with media coverage to help GOTV at the start of early voting in that state might have had an impact but at this point I just don’t know.
PBO did rally Corzine (New Jersey) and Deeds (Virginia) in their local Governor races so he does have a history of getting involved in local elections.
I believe because this was a re-call election the WH didn’t think it appropriate to be personally involved. The bottom line is that its up to the people of WI to decide to do something about Walker. Had they listened to PBO in 2010 when he pleaded with them to not give these nuts the keys back there would be no need for this re-call.
I wish them all the best and hope they will be successful.
Pres. Clinton will probably do just fine.
Romney was good at what he did for Bain. The Obama campaign even says that, but what Romney did was make money for himself and his buddies. Romney did not create jobs, and that was the point the Obama campaign was trying to prove. Romney claim his experience at Bain make him qualified to fix the economy and create jobs, and the Obama campaign prove that was a big fat lie. Romney made money for himself and backers. So Romney was good at his job of making money anyway he had too. If it meant firing the workers and closing down the plants, Romney did just that.
Romney is the very type of person from whom the people of america need to be protected. Greedy, cowardly, racist, heartless and lacking integrity.
Newt call Romney a liar, and Giulani said he was a man without a core.
PBO did rally Corzine (New Jersey) and Deeds (Virginia) in their local Governor races so he does have a history of getting involved in local elections.
And Coakley in MA
Bottom line: if a candidate is not good or well regarded, NOTHING Obama will say will matter. All politics are local, even in WI
Absolutely spot on…
Thank you, Theo, for expressing so well everything I feel. We the people, donated, phone banked, registered voters, GOT the votes, and VOTED, to elect President Obama, the 44th President of the United States. Once he was elected, some of us, actually many of us, went on the sidelines and expected him to do everything by himself although his opponents were so united and determined to block every thing he tried do. To be fair Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid and the majority of Democrats in Congress, worked tirelessly in the first two years to have the President’s back. But there were some in Congress who did not have his back. Then, of course, there were those, the self proclaimed pure progressives, who pretended to be his supporters while using both the msm and the social media to attack him and undermine everything he was trying to accomplish. Personally, I will never forget how the so called Progressives treated President Obama. Never! Their attacks were just as vicious as the attacks he received from the right wingers. Nevertheless, through it all, President Obama kept focused on doing the right thing.
That is why I am so sick and tired when I hear people repeatedly assert that no president was ever re-elected when the unemployment was more than 8%. What they don’t tell you is that no other President, since the Great Depression, faced the same dire consequences of a collapsing economy while the country was engaged in two wars. It’s true that FDR inherited the worst economic situation, but the country was not at war so he had all the time to focus on just the economic situation, What our so called learned pundits don’t talk about is that one of our “greatest presidents” was re-elected in 1936, and then again in 1940, when the unemployment was still in double digit! That’s the well kept secret. Then there is the “great Conservative Saint, Ronnie Reagan,” who inherited a mild recession and no war, but was still re-elected with the unemployment near 8% (7.7%) after it had gone over 10% in his first two years in office. But some how, President Obama, who inherited the second worst economy in the history of the United States, must be held to the standards applied only to presidents who inherited good economies. I cannot tell you, Theo, how disgusted I get listening to all these media pundits, right and left, who go on and on about the unemployment rate without putting it in context of what President Obama inherited. In my judgement, the only American President, President Obama could be legitimately compared with is FDR. But as I said earlier, FDR did not inherit two wars.He also did not face a determined and vicious Republican party that had taken an oath to make sure that he failed. Aand he was re-elected, not once, but twice, when the unemployment was still double digit. World War II, and the massive government spending it required, finally lifted the country out of the Depression. Morover, FDR never faced a vicious and well oiled opposition any where near what President Obama has, and is facing.
As for Wisconsin, I commend the people of Wisconsin who instigated a recall of Scott Walker. I hope they succeed in removing him from office. At the same time, I don’t get the people who think the President should be in Wisconsin campaigning against Walker. Can you imagine how the media would eat this up? The media would delight in telling the country that the President is mired in partisan politics in one state instead of focusing on all the problems, foreign and domestic, that are in need of attention. Does any one remember George W. Bush being asked by the GOP to come to California to campaign to remove Gov. Davis? What is wrong with us Democrats/progressives? Why are we so obsessed with theatrics instead of the real things? I am absolutely convinced that OFA is working behind the scenes to ouster Walker. That is all we need know. Because whatever OFA is involved in has the tacit approval of President Obama. The President and the Vice President do not need to be in Wisconsin if we believe that power comes from the grassroots.
I confess that I may be getting too old. because I regard calls for the President to be in Wisconsin, during a recall election, to be amateur politics. Just my two cents, Theo, in appreciation of your excellent comment!
Excellent rant! I learned a lot.
Absolutely spot on Nath…
Thank you so much nath for your comment about the president going to Wisconsin. I too believe that he should not go. I’ve always trusted him and will continue. We or may I say I, don’t know what is going on behind the scene, just like everything else that he does, but I trust him. Why is it that people want him to do it all and to be everywhere, when as you have said, that other president wasn’t expected or asked to do the things that we expect of him. I wonder is it because we think that he owe us something for our vote? Why didn’t we treat prior presidents the same way with our expectations? May God continue to help and protect our wonderful president and family.
the truth is, the people on the ground that I talk to don’t want PBO there. They don’t want this thing to pivot to him, which certainly would have been the case if he had followed Ed Schultz’ pipedream of PBO walking the line with the demonstrators. What an abject fool Schultz can be.
I am pleased that the DNC stepped up their efforts. the DGA had always been actively involved. But not PBO. Only a few vocal idiots think that.
I was happy to see Clinton going, until he pissed me off yet again. Right now I don’t want to look at his miserable face. Now, instead of discussing a popular former President’s campaign visit to WI, all the media will be talking about is Romney’s sterling business career and how uber-qualified he is to be President. Bill Clinton said so (the ass).
Of course Chelsea decided to use her privilege and her obvious gifts to be a hedge fund manager. Not saying she needs to go to Rwanda, but hedge fund manager? Seriously? She’s a member of that group (the name escapes me) that did a ‘study’ on ACA that was debunked, and it was a study by them that Mittens quotes about class size.
Are you talking about McKinsey (the group that did the study)?
I agree with you about not wanting to see Bill Clinton’s face. I hope he smartens up. His ego is not worth the many lives that will be destroyed if Romney gets into office. He’s done enough damage.
yes, that’s it! McKinsey. Thanks!
Anyone watching the WI debates?
We Are Wisconsin @WeRWisconsin
LINE OF THE NIGHT – @Barrett4WI: “I have a police department that arrests felons; he has an administration that hires them.” #WIdebate
Ouch. He’s correct…that was a right hook to the jaw!
It was a great debate and I am biased but Mayor Barrett was great… He made pig walker swallow heard when he turned a campaign ad he was running against him using a dead baby…. I believe in my heart of heart if Mayor Barrett wins this recall he will own the template on how to take on thugs…. He was tough, clear, and was punching back with a left hook and a crosover…. I clicked on Mayor Barrett’s twitter feed and found the web link for the debate….
Barrett won the debate. That’s the general consensus from what I’m hearing.
A lot of people expected Walker to step up his game but he did no better than he did last week. But Barrett was stronger.
God, it’s all about turnout. The only reason the tea party took over everything is because our side ceded the election to them by not voting.
Clinton’s behavior is inexcusable. It is clear, the corporate puppetmasters are yanking the chains of the DLC stooges in the Dem party, squeezing the pincer on their balls. The DLC is clearly staging an internal party revolt. they would rather lose an election and keep the corporate feeding trough going than defend defenseless workers. Yeah that Clinton who has been trumpeted as Emoprog hero as they spit on Pres. Obama, yeah that Clinton.
The billionaire elite have closed their ranks across party lines to declare a war on the President and Middle Class America, in order to return to feudal times. So how are we supposed to fight this internal Judas brigade in our midst? How?
These same DLCers never lift a finger to attack Romney who’s waging the most venal campaign against our President.
Yup. That about covers it. The voters better realize who is on their side and who is intent on taking them down. It’s them that has got everything to lose in 2012, not Obama.
Exactly, it’s the people that will suffer, the Obamas’ will be more than fine.
If the repubs win and the rich get richer, poor get poorer, there will be such a backlash from the people it will resemble the Russian revolution. Very stark I know.
..internal Judas brigade…
Perfectly captures it zizi…
I’m with you on this and it hurts my heart cause growing up Clinton was the only gov I knew, except for that brief Frank White period. My mom has newspaper clippings of my brother and a year later me with Bill and Hillary. I drove up to Little Rock from college the night he won to celebrate. Yes, I was disappointed with him in office but I still supported him. I was disappointed with his behavior in the 08 elections but I still tolerated him. But now…I’m done…really. It was bad enough when he threw the Dems off message by giving aid and comfort to Paul Ryan of all people – ON CAMERA! Then he came out with a book on jobs…always trying to stay in the spotlight. Now this…no, Bill I’m through with you cause you should know how your words will be used to undermine PBO and the Bain attack…it really is unforgiveable and all the people who gave Corey Booker grief better give it to Bill too. Its worse cause he has a higher profile!
Its cool he’s going to WI to campaign for Barrett and is doing a fundraiser for PBO but call me cynical but I think it has more to do with his need of being needed…maybe that’s not fair but its how I feel right now. Every time I saw that email saying here’s your chance to meet Pres Clinton and Pres Obama…I kept thinking…’no, I’ma pass on that.’ He’s muddling the message and he’s the person Ed Schulz, Chris Matthews and others claim is the master campaigner…smh…I’ma pass on that too…
I donated after hesitating for a full hour. And now I want my money back. I’m done with Clinton.
I typically delete any e-mail that has Clinton or Carville anywhere…
Barrett is a very good communicator. He did very well. He won this…He had lots of facts spoken in soundbite forms that I had a hard time trying to tweet, live. Above is one example of a right hook, he knocked around Walker a number of times during that hour…the knockout blow to win will be June 5th.
Walker is only ahead or polls close because of the 8:1 money advantage he has. Its around 70% from out-of-state. Anway, if all those that signed the recall petition and rest of them want Barrett as their Governor, then they need to Vote.
Besides, Walker has a criminal hearing to attend to, to save his own bacon, so he really doesn’t have time to serve and govern WI.
Bill has z.e.r.o cred with me, sorry Hillary, but it is true.
GOP mouth pieces — we always knew. http://www.slate.com/blogs/weigel/2012/05/31/politico_s_vetting_flop.html

Sanity vs insanity. Don't fuck up america. Not again. http://t.co/IKB6BeLD— (@amk4obama) June 01, 2012
Real sharp graphic. Let’s make it so.
Good night all.
I love your “way with words” :) Pretty clear.
Absolutely spot-on, amk! America has a choice: either America will decide to go Forward or she will decide to go Backward! Besides, any backward step will only delay the inevitable. America cannot survive if she still believes in “white supremacy.” All you need to look at first is the racial composition of the military, especially in the lower ranks.Of all the major American institutions, I think the military is the most diverse in terms of ethnic, race, gender and sexual orientation. Next one has to look at some of the most populous states like California, Texas and Florida. In probably less than twenty years, the WASP&WC (White, Anglo-Saxon protestants, and, white Catholics) will no longer command the majority of voters in these states. The same will probably be true in smaller states like New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada and Arizona. Right wing Christians may make inroads in converting non white people but that means that they can no longer use race, invoking the so called “Noah’s curse upon Ham” to declare who is and who is not a true Christian.
That’s is why I totally agree with you. The 2012 election will be between two visions: those who are sane enough to recognize that the future of the United States will be the creation of a country that values and respects diversity; and those who are still so insane, and determined to believe that they can recreate and restore “white supremacy.”
Good Nite TOD and thank you again for all the AWESOME donations to my fundraiser.
I’m very happy to hear that Barrett did very well in the debate tonight. Hopefully it will be just the thing to turn out those addiitional votes he will need to send Walker home the biggest loser.
This needs to make the rounds, too!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Jobs growth probably snapped back in May from weather-related distortions that had slowed hiring, suggesting the economy was still expanding moderately despite strong headwinds from Europe.
Employers probably created 150,000 jobs last month, according to a Reuters survey of economists, after generating a paltry 115,000 positions in April – the fewest in six months.
That would bring nonfarm employment growth closer to its 176,000 a month average of the past three months and temper fears that economic activity could be stagnating.
“The labor market is getting better, but the glass is still half empty. I think a big part of the weather and seasonal issues that have been weighing on the jobs numbers is now behind us,” said Harm Bandholz, chief U.S. economist at UniCredit Research in New York.
well, well, well. MSM hack John Stossel just out promoting RW propoganda. Try not to be surprised.
Stossel is a libertarian (selfish jerk). He also has a whiney voice that it hurts to listen to. Can’t tolerate the man and his opinion is nothing to me. A long time ago I saw him do a report which featured kindergarten kids and he was promoting the idea that sharing is bad! I learned everything I need to know about Stossel from that.
I always thought he was a wack job. Now I know for sure. Our MSM, hard at work, just pranking viewers!
Raise the caps. It’s so obvious. Next time SS comes up in conversation I’ll talk about the caps. I think the President will do something about this in his second term.
I’m falling asleep as I type here. Need to catch some zzzzzzs now.
Night. Me too….zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
This article was on NPR yesterday, but I haven’t seen it spread around much. It’s definitely worth listening to – captures President Obama’s vision of the American Dream quite well (it could be a campaign ad).
Theo67, dd you venture out to read some of the comments? I did. Talk about some of the most vile and disgusting commentaries, on an NPR site! I aim deeply disappointed in those so called Christians who supposedly live by the teachings of Jesus Christ and yet endorse despicable hatred of President Obama and his family.
nathkatun7, you said it right, so call Christians. If they hate this President it’s because of one reason, the color of his skin. I guess these so call Christians people think hating is alright, just like Mitt think lying is alright.
I try not to read comments anywhere anymore – except here, of course. It is just too demoralizing, when you think that these people walk the streets, work in our workplaces, have access to children. They’re pure poison.
waiting to see if things blow up…if things get down and dirty for Clinton and Rendell like they did when Corey Booker went off message and criticized the President’s attack on Bain Capital……..
willing to bet they don’t……..
Lol! They are playing Clintons remarks, sticking up for Bain and Rendell is backing up Clinton. Rendell and Eugene Robinson said be more positive. Barnacle says, class warfare…
Thank you Bill Clinton…
Time to tweet this bastard!
I don’t know how you watch that junk.
Scarborough might as well be on until 3, as MSNBainC has conservative Shows until then.
MSNBainC will discuss Clinton incessantly until 3 and then Bashir will be ordered to discuss it, but with a different take.
Oil is at 84. Way down!!!
“Swing state economic performance favors Obama”
This article pretty much sums up what I’ve been seeing in the electoral maps I follow. Despite how the national polls may be tightening the electoral maps have pretty much stayed the same showing PBO with many more paths to victory than Romney. I’ll post the article and couple of the electoral maps. It’s all about getting to 270.
RUMSFELD: You can’t imagine the difference in competence and capability and the investment we made and the talent of these people [U.S. special operations forces]. We doubled their authorities, we’ve improved their equipment, we’ve increased their numbers. They have gotten better and better and better, they’re the finest warriors on the face of the earth. [...]
We took the investment that the Obama administration benefited from. The capabilities they have were developed during their predecessors and each President –
ROSE: The predecessor meaning the Bush administration you served?
RUMSFELD: And, yes exactly.
