Am I first?
Yes you are. Congrats Symmetry!!
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Congratulations symmetry on # 1!
Thank you, Chips, because I was about to respond to that last person, which needed to be left alone in the desert. So am I 4th!?
Oooh, Top 10! TGIF! It’s a party!
To clarify, Chips, I’m thanking you for creating a new thread, thus the rescue from me responding to yet another comment about “how tired POTUS looks, etc.” Haven’t seen that commenter’s name before.
You know what, xtine, what if the President looks tired to day after doing all he had to do, today, yesterday and days before. What does that have to do with the President re-election? Personally, I am tired today because I stayed up too late last night. But I am still just as fired-up as ever in my determination too make sure that President Obama is re-elected.
I wish people would stop analyzing every move and every twitch President Obama makes..
Thank you, Nath, I’m so sick of that kind of nonense. If I had to do a smidgen of what he has to do, I’d crawl under my bed at 4:30 a.m. and whisper: YIKES! Whisper, I said! Dam I gave it caps.!
It’s another Friday in a lot of of them before Nov. 6. How about we post one random bit of fun news from around the world every single Friday? Just a thought.
WOW. Hearing crowd at GOTV concert in Madison tonight has swelled to 5,000 and more still coming in. #wiunion #wirecall #p2 #1u— Kelly Steele (@steelekelly) June 02, 2012
Please, please, let WI do the right thing and not vote against their own interests! In my prayers.
Wisconsin is FIRED UP
CROWD SHOT: They're signed up to volunteer for GOTV & packed in far as eye can see in Madison: yfrog.com/estnqxej #wiunion #wirecall— We Are Wisconsin (@WeRWisconsin) June 02, 2012
I know! I’m following them on FB and the crowd estimate for that GOTV Rally is 7-8 thousand people and they ALL signed volunteer cards to canvass this weekend. Absolutely Outstanding!!!!
Oh, bliss. Along with phonebanking, we’re going to stir the bushes until we find every last Dem voter. OH PLEASE, I would so love to crush that moron, Walker.
DAMN SWEET! http://immasmartypants.blogspot.com/2012/06/absence-excused.html
Awww! And that’s not the first time that’s happened! POTUS-Special, I say.
No, it’s not:) How cool is that though?
Everytime I pass the WH, I just blow a kiss, say a prayer for them, and want to hug the gates because I feel POTUS/FLOTUS need a hug back!
Do that for ME, too:)
Me too. I have never been to D.C. I will attend the inaugaration in January though.
Will do indeed! Every lunch hour to November!
November because we’ll have acheved our goal, and I’ll be a popsicle if I keep hugging that gate, or they might just take me away in designer jacket. Damn, it’s now imperative that we keep our POTUS. TODers, those designer jackets sound a tad restrictive!
Made it, and I sure hope everyone hasn’t gone to bed yet! This is my first chance all the LOOONG day to look in!!! Please don’t let there have been a whole lot of good stuff that I missed! (Selfish, I know, but the first day away has got to be the hardest, so if there were lots of goodies I’m going to feel it even harder.).
Since, I can’t possible catch up before going to bed, can 3 kind souls point me to three bits of information that you wouldn’t have wanted to miss if you had been away? PLEASE. THANKS! Gone to the top of THIS post which I haven’t yet read. See you later. VC
Tally’s post. Tally’s post. Tally’s post. And this: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/06/01/opinion/krugman-the-austerity-agenda.html?ref=paulkrugman
Thanks, Df. Off I go now to find T’s p.
Here it is, love http://theobamadiary.com/2012/06/01/a-word-from-tally-our-broken-media-and-by-extension-all-of-us/
The President looks tired. I would be too. Job numbers dropped a tenth of a percentage point and the PL’s jump up and down “He’s gotta do something”. The mascot and rwnj’s are holler for leadership.
Another flaw in the human character is that everybody wants to build and nobody wants to do maintenance.- Kurt Vonnegut,
Throw in a dash of bigotry and some other unsavory bullshit and that sums it up. If it were me I’ll all the ungrateful mofo to kiss my black ass!
He looks tired as he normally does at the end of the day when he’s traveled across time zones and has given multiple speeches.
I don’t believe the jobs numbers has anything to do with his appearance. I’ve seen much worse reports in the past and he’s looked fine.
I don’t know how he keeps this schedule going. I am tired just watching him. I do worry about the months ahead and how he will be able to keep this pace up and also run the country. I know he’s not the only President who has to do this but I wish the election season were shortened. It’s crazy that all this time and money has to be spent and it seems to get worse with every election.
I don’t think it’s the jobs report either.
TGIF! I hope he gets a break this weekend.
I totally agree with you, HF. Don’t think it has anything to do with the jobs report. He keeps a grueling schedule and he’s a human being with the weight of the world on his shoulders. Now, on a Friday night, he’s got another fundraiser instead of being home with his family. I get exhausted reading his schedule. Just imagine what it’s like to live it.
True..if I had a schedule that was 25% as rigorous as PBO’s, I would be in a hospital inpatient right now – for both physical and mental issues!!
Yes indeed! President Obama faced much dire reports when the country was loosing 700,000 to 800,000 jobs a month. O.K may be May’s report didn’t meet expectations, but still 69,000 net jobs were created. That is to say 69,000 (actually more if you subtract all the public sector people laid off, probably by States controlled by Republicans) more Americans found jobs in May, 2012 than those who found jobs in April, 2012. I have never in my life seen a president who is constantly subjected to different standards. For the past 27months the country has seen job growth and not job losses, yet people’s pants are on fire because the job growth did not meet their expectations.
I just can’t wait to see what the media says if President Obama wins a narrow victory in 2012 with less % points than those of his 2008 victory. In 2000, Bush became president having lost the majority of the popular votes and he governed as if he had an overwhelming mandate. In 2004, he won re-election with barely 51% of the vote and he was besides himself about the mandate he received from American people. The now considered great Bill Clinton only won slightly more than 43% of the popular vote in 1992, and slightly more than 49% in 1996.In other words at no time did the majority of Americans vote for Bill Clinton. But you watch. Unless President Obama wins more than 53%, the media, the righties, and the holier than thou progressives will all start writing about he did not receive a mandate from the American people.
Rahm is a little cutie too. That was a great intro.
Is there any video of the Honeywell speech? I had to work and missed it. Glad Minnesota gave him a warm reception!
Thank you symmetry! Hugs and kisses to you! Going off to watch it with my husband now.
It’s Friday! This gets me fired up!
Found a short video on Youtube. Going back to see if I can find more.
Hey DF this one get’s my Friday going too! RIP Lucky Dube! Here’s one for POTUS/FLOTUS:
Jamaica? I’ve been there! Dunn’s Falls…I think it was called….
Not sure where this was shot, but Lucky Dube was a South African music icon, not just RSA, but all over the Continent. This looks like it was shot in Jo’Burg. Not sure though because he did shows all over the world.
Ah.:) Thank you, xtine. I had not heard of Lucky Dube before now.
Check him out! He was an activist too and that’s why he filled so many stadiums. He mixed so many genres, including Journey’s “I Want To Know What Love Is” in reggae. Beautifully done. But mostly his music was about the plight of the disenfranchised.
Here’s his take on that song I mention above:
Lucky Dube exudes nothing but energy! Thanks xtine for sharing the video! It makes an old man like me want to get up and dance.
Awww! BTW, you’re never too old if you can shake a leg and smile thru the rickety! Who gives a hoot!?
I see that some of our friends on Twitter are getting all worked up about Bill Clinton’s remarks about Romney’s success at Bain Capital. In my humble opinion, Bill Clinton is not particularly relevant to PBO’s re-election strategy or campaign – as much as some in the media would like us to believe, that’s just NOT the case.
Besides, Bill Clinton praised Romney’s success as a profit- generator at Bain, not as a would be president. Here are Clinton’s ACTUAL WORDS, the ones that the media conveniently leaves out:
// “I think, however, the real issue ought to be, what has Governor Romney advocated in the campaign that he will do as president? What has President Obama done and what does he propose to do? How do these things stack up against each other?
That’s the most relevant thing. There’s no question that in terms of getting up and going to the office and, you know, basically performing the essential functions of the office, the man who has been governor and had a sterling business career crosses the qualification threshold. But they have dramatically different proposals. And it’s my opinion, anyway, that the Obama proposals and the Obama record will be far better for the American economy and most Americans than those that Governor Romney has laid out. And that’s what the election ought to be about.” //
This is in fact EXACTLY what PBO has been saying. And this is still different from Cory Booker’s rant, which was a direct attack on Obama’s campaign strategy.
The dishonest media, knowing that some people will take the bait, is pushing a narrative that Clinton praised Romney at Bain and undermined PBO’s message. That is false. And I really wish people would spend less time hand-wringing over Clinton and more time focusing on the Republicans and Mitt Romney.
Thank you, HF. This is clarifying.
I think some of the disgust was about this tweet about a remark made by Clinton:
“Donald Trump has been uncommonly nice to Hilary and me. We’re all New Yorkers. I like him and I love playing golf with him.”
I’m sorry, but is that’s true, it makes me livid. If he can’t see what Trump represents, who he is and what he’s doing to undermine our POTUS in the most despicable way possible, then he’s in the same league AFAIC.
Meta, I get what you’re saying. But Clinton didn’t say that Trump was was a good person, nor did he say that Trump was right about PBO’s birth certificate. You have to really parse between what a person says, but you also have to note (more importantly) what they DON’T say.
No where in Clinton’s words did he justify Trump’s position about PBO’s legitimacy to be president because of his presumed place of birth.
By the way, Donald Trump has also been “nice” to a lot of corporate Democrats – Chuck Schumer, Rahm Emmanuel, Gillibrand, etc. His personal issue with PBO is due to the fact that PBO dissed his offer to redo the white house. Like most anti-Obama haters in the MSM, it boils down to a childish silly perceived slight.
Trust me when I say that Donald Trump probably wishes that PBO “liked” him more than Clinton does.
I respectfully disagree, hf.
I don’t really care to parse anything Trump says in such a way to make any of it alright in any universe. He has systematically lowered the discourse and his vile remarks are hurtful not just to PBO but to his supporters and voters. Questioning the very legitimacy of POTUS and his presidency, questioning his childhood, violating the memory of his mother, questioning his academic intelligence, his merits as a law student, essentially calling him a liar – all of that is way, way beyond the pale for me. I don’t care about Trump’s motives, how needy he is or how nice he is to others and I don’t care about his golf game. He is despicable, FULL STOP. If Clinton wants to be his buddy, that’s on him. I don’t respect that in any way, shape or form. That’s my opinion.
Yickes I didn’t even see that…….mmmm amazing…
I didn’t like his comments about Romney’s career…..but
I hate this comment:
”I like him and I love playing golf with him.”
So the guy who has been for months calling the President a total failure, the guy who is racist to the core, who keeps repeating as often as he can that the President was born in Kenya so basically a fraud and not legitimated…………is a nice guy?
No wonder racism is alive and well in the States.
Instead of being outraged by such hatred, how Trump’s words are catnip for the racists out there……….Trump is playing golf with Clinton who likes him, he co-hosted the View and they joked with him, he has a show on NBC, he is a regular guests on different shows…..etc…
Yep…..enough to make you sick to your stomach.
I would never pall around with a racist……never……
Ef Clinton……I don’t know why many defend him, this is unacceptable.
I tell you, when I read that I was LIVID. It’s such an upper class white male dog whistle, I can’t even see straight. It’s so toxic, I can’t even begin to express that.
I agree with you 100% about Trump. And I’m not making excuses for Clinton either, but I note that he is talking on both sides of his mouth (as usual), and is neither endorsing or defending Romney for President as the media is trying to say. Bill Clinton is all about Bill Clinton – which makes him largely irrelevant because despite the MSM’s narratives, the voting public has largely moved on from the Clintons – which is why Obama could beat them in 2008. Obama will do just fine in 2012 – with or without Bill Clinton.
On this one I totally agree with you meta! OK may be Clinton likes playing golf with Trump, but after Trump’s racist birtherism the least Bill Clinton could do is to condemn Donal Trump on this particular issue. If he can’t get himself to do that then I don’t really see how he is going to be helpful. But as hopefruit2 has ably said, we must not let Bill Clinton distract us. The media may be obsessed with Clinton, as they were in 2008, but he is not the one running for re-election; President Obama is.
Clinton is very savy…he knew what his comments would provoke….undermining the President’s message on Bain Capital……calling Trump a racist birther a nice guy…
the question i have is what is his his motive…..
His message is not undermining the President’s message. Bill Clinton is not that important in the grand scheme of things. If he was, Hillary would be President today, and not President Obama. Most voters are sensible enough to think for for themselves. Bill Clinton can say what he wants, but the Democrats who take him seriously are the same people who probably secretly voted for McCain in 2008.
So many Republicans have criticized Romney, time and again, including John Huntsman AFTER he dropped from the race and endorsed Willard. Yet where is the MSM focus on that?!?!
i get what you are saying…but i must say these issues around venture and finance capital have shown true colors/
good night HF……good night everyone……..
Good night prettyfoot58. Sleep tight. Don’t let Clinton bite.
hahahaha…mercy….that would never do…hahaha
You know hopefruit2, I just love the way you are able to pierce through all the BS and go to the heart of the matter. The media are intent on promoting divisions among Democrats and some of us easily fall for it. I’ve seen people here get all worked up about Bill Clinton and Gov. Patrick when, if you really listen to what they said, they said nothing that much different from what President Obama has said. I know Cory Booker messed up big time, but even him, his amended statement was not so bad. And I know you may not agree with me here, but I still consider Mayor Booker a supporter of the President. For me he is family and sometimes you’ve got to forgive family members for messing up.
By the way, why aren’t the media as obsessed about airing all the horrific statements that Republicans — including John McCain, Donald Trump, Newt Gingrich, Rick Perry, Michelle Bachmann, and Rick Santorum — have said about Willard “Mitch” Romney? Why have the media thrown that memorable characterization of Mitt Romney as a “Vulture Capitalist,” by the right wing darling, Gov. Rick Perry’s of Texas, into memory hole? O.K, may be Clinton, Patrick and Cory said nice things about Bain Capital, and for Clinton, Romney. But did any of these Democrats attack President Obama, or say negative things about him, the way the Republicans did with Mitt Romney? Why isn’t the media showing a clip of Gingrich calling Mitt Romney “A LIAR”, over and over again?
I am sorry, but I have resolved not to be part of the media agenda which is intent on creating divisions among Democrats. At 66 years of age, I know something about the way the powerful thrive by dividing people in order to maintain power. This was the tactic of divide and conquer was used effectively in the 1960s to weaken the Civil Rights Movement. That is why I refuse to expend energy on Booker, Clinton and Patrick, because they all, so far as I know, support the re-election of President Obama. My number one focus is on the habitual liar Mitt Romney and his supporters who are trying to win the presidency by any means, including telling the American people blatant lies.
Washington (CNN) – A CNN/ORC International survey released Friday … indicates that Obama supporters are more energized right now than those backing Romney.
It’s only going to RAMP US UP!
Finally the TRUTH!
So hair-on-fire moments over yet ?
You mean, ” Is it safe?” Yes…we’re all good. Morning, amk:)
We’ve got the coffee pot fired up for you, amk.
Thanks guyz for a great coffee. Frankly, I didn’t have the nerve to check out y’days other threads. Good to know we areback to our regular programming.
psst … Chips went nutz, didn’t she ?
No, not really….individuals were outspoken, but Chips didn’t have to yell:) I think that we’ve learned and grown to expect this anytime “bad” news comes…read Tally’s post though…it’s really good, and goes to part of the reason why we didn’t freak out today as much…..we consider the source more often now.
Good that tally was around to smack some heads. I read the thread after rise and shines and was outta here.
If people (here and everywhere) expected a steady rising job nos. in the present fucked up global scenario, they ought to buy themselves some reality. At whatever cost.
Amen to that.
True amk. 27 straight months of jobs growth in the US economy amidst unprecedented GOP obstructionism and severe unemployment elsewhere isDAMN GOOD NEWS in my humble opinion.
Provocative and highly DIVISIVE all at the same time! Did any one write a headline saying that Speaker Newt Gingrich, who called Mitt Romney a liar, and Texas Governor Rick Perry, who called Mitt Romney a vulture capitalists, endorsed President Obama? Please forgive me but I am really tired with so called progressives who are naively playing into the hands of Karl Rove. Here is Bill Clinton who is fundraising with Obama to counter the massive dollars being donated by millionaires and billionaires to Mitt Romney, and yet his minor statements are made into headlines that certainly will be exploited by the unethical MSM.
i feel you and i am not always sure how to receive Bill Clinton/i am not always sure whose side he is on/i hope that my posting this has not offended you/
i feel all that you have said and will try to keep an open mind…
Actually, I’d like to applaud the entire TOD community. I was dreading the ‘freak-out’ and it did not materialize. That’s big because it shows that we are no longer vulnerable to the GOP’s attempts to demoralize us. Best ‘non-freak-out’ of the day? The suggestion to donate $27 in honor of the 27 consecutive months of job growth.
Best “freak out of the day”…donate $27 in honor of the 27 consecutive months of job growth……I think that we should adopt this train of thought for all things. Just like this.
Excellent. Who came up with that ? Well, whoever it was, kudos to her/him.
Her…of course:) (sorry, I had to do that) Can’t remember right now…but it was a great suggestion.

OFA: Mitt Romney’s Week in Headlines “Upstaged”…”Trumped”…”Losing Gamble”… “Birther Offensive” … “Attacks Fall Flat” …Silly WH Conspiracy”
Asked if Romney needs to distance himself b/c of birther stuff, Trumps says “I think he’s very happy with me.”
My Humor, but we’re all moving in the right direction.
How I would Snark it: “Malawi Re-Discovers It’s Rising Sun Flag. Rainbow Flag Says Hello!”
Here are the articles:
“Vote to restore rising sun flag”
“Malawi president vows to legalise homosexuality”
How FREAKING apropos is THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!
“Fit To Print” examines the ongoing crisis within the U.S. newspaper industry and its impact on local investigative reporting. The film includes interviews from reporters, staff members and media experts within several major U.S. newspapers, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times and The Wall Street Journal.
Through interviews with former executives at the leading newspaper companies, the filmmakers illustrate a change in business practices, beginning in the 1960s. Newspapers became less a public service than a business enterprise designed to please stockholders. Unfortunately, newspaper companies historically neglected investment in new technologies and expanded classified advertising online despite direct proposals from major internet search engine companies and advertising entrepreneurs As a result, staffs were cut, and the watchdog role of reporters has come with a cost.
“Independent journalism is absolutely essential for a functioning democracy,” a laid-off journalist warns us. Indeed.
And more importantly and more dangerously, the vacuum of independent and honest investigation, has been filled by propraganda (fucking murdock) and paid shills (fucking tappers, todds, knollers). This has been happening around the world. The rich have bought the people’s airwaves and are now using them to fulfill their agenda.
And don’t forget the SCOTUS says money is speech and “New” organizations can require news employees to LIE if their employer tells them to lie…..that means you FAUX NOISE.
I can never forgive what the Supreme Ct did in CItizen’s United. It exacerbated an already dangerous problem. Which is exactly why PBO needs to be re elected and we need to give him the tools in congress to do his job! This shit keeps me awake at night.
I have yet to meet anyone who is enthusiastic about Mitt Romney. If we all show up and vote for PBO we will carry the Democrats back to a majority. But when that happens we should all tweet and write and let the Dems know who to thank. I like my two Senators so will not give them a hard time but there are plenty of Dems who will need to be reminded that the voters showed up for PBO and they better be there for him.
Yes. dangerous and scary beyond measure. WAKE UP< WORLD!
Thanks for speaking TRUTH, AMK! What is happening in the U.S. is actually happening all over the World!
Just watched the Honeywell speech on C-Span, which symmetry so kindly posted. I have to say I much prefer watching on C-Span than having to listen to the talking heads on the other channels. Just the unfiltered info without anyone telling me what to think. The constant chatter and pointless commentary on all the other news outlets is just plain distracting.
They even show all the handshaking that took place after the speech. Very nice. I’m impressed the Prez remembered the names of all the places he went in MN last summer. Two democratic senators and a Democratic Governor in attendance. Love my state.
