And to expand on that comment. no matter what happens tomorrow in Wisconsin, or at any time in the future, let us all keep our heads high. The RW wants to see us on the left demoralized. They will use every little thing to hammer us and to make not only PBO but all Dems look bad. We do not need to help them in that project.
This was such a treat. As I read all the posts I was struck by how positive, on message, and focused we are. I could just hug you all!!
This is what we need to do EVERYDAY, regardless of the news.
I can see the campaign muscles growing stronger everyday. Thanks to everyone for their tweets, focused messaging, positive attitudes, and hard work. Today our local OFA will be calling WI voters, I will have an extra spring in my step because of all you do here at this wonderful blog.
Good morning Chips and TOD family!!! I so agree WIW. We do seem to be really focused! Chips and all the family here are doing so well at bringing information and forcus for us to spread sometimes I get tears in my eyes thinking of all the good people that are working so hard to get this President reelected and to get a congress and on state level too that will help our President and all of us. Thank you everyone and Keep it going!!!!!!!
We are all Fired Up and Ready to Go!!!!!!!!!! PressOn!!!!!!!!!
In Texas, 300,000 Eligible Voters Targeted In Purge
Florida voters are not the only ones who should be worried about whether their state has erroneously purged them from the list of eligible voters; the state of Texas also has a voter purge policy that erroneously targets eligible voters. The Houston Chronicle reports that, in a two year period, 300,000 eligible voters were warned that they may be removed from Texas voter rolls.
I haven’t posted the candle link here in a while, but because of the big day in Wisconsin, thought maybe some may want to join me in not only lighing a candle for our President, First Family and the Nation, but for all those in Wisconsin that have worked so hard to bring democracy back to Wisconsin.
Inspired by all here at the blog, I have begun to make lists of all the wonderful videos produced by the campaign and other groups. Today there seems to be a focus on getting out the true record of Romney in Massachusetts so I have made a page with the 3 videos I have seen. If you can think of any more send me a note here.
If you enter the dinner contest before tonight and win, you’ll have dinner with BOTH POTUS and FLOTUS in NYC – airfare and hotel included – and be a guest at a private concert with Mariah Carey. That’s a pretty big evening right there.
I have entered every single one of these events multiple times. I guess its like the lottery, someone else always wins. I hope it is at least one of us.
I thought President Obama was on at noon….I had to watch Alex Will for 5 minutes….way too long…when she quoted from Maureen Dowd’s article, I just turned it off….
She Really, really wants to vote for Her apparent Hero- Willard. A lovefest! Maureen Dowd gives the Media cover, for going negative on the President. I guess now, they feel Free! Jeesh!
I stopped reading Dowd when she kept calling President Obama, Obambi……she has no clue what he is, or what he is about. She thinks she’s clever and smart, but she’s just bitter. She is shrill, and yells, so for a day people listen to her, but she doesn’t last….she has no staying power.
Since they have been going negative since the day he was elected, it’s no big deal. We all should ignore the media, they are hopeless and not worth the aggravation.

I knew that at the right time, the info about Romney’s record as governor of MA would come out. Remember the Obama campaign is superb at timing. Many were wondering why they didn’t bring out his record earlier in the campaign….the info would have been wasted. Now they will hit hard. Massachusetts HATED Romney as he left. We actually saw billboards in 2006 asking him to leave, and don’t let the door hit you on the way out. The last two years he was pretty much an absentee governor, and did little to nothing. His public sector experience is horrible! More will come out, just watch.
The Obama campaign knew all along that R would be the nominee, so have had two to three years to gather oppo research on him. They’ll use it wisely and well.
Hi Carolyn, any idea if those billboards could be found now. Would be great to show how grateful Massachusetts were to see the back of him. Also for everyone here, like you, I have read many suggestions that PBO’s people should talk about Romney’s inheriting the position of #37 for his state in the Nation and he left it at #47. Senate minority leader is already filling in the ommission by stating that Romney moved the number from 50 to 47. Look for the others to say the same to muddy up the water. I can’t tweet so would you Guys who are so good at this help out our side, please. Thanks. Just a few thoughts.
I always have to steel myself before I watch a willard revelation ad..glad I did. I like the way President Obama came on before to say he Approved this Message. Very Good!
An article on Leadership Lessons (Dwight D. Eisenhower)….when Republicans had character.
“Eisenhower had plenty of chances to use his anger drawer during his time as Supreme Commander and later during his political career. During the war, Ike was vexed by the way journalists who, thousands of miles away from the action, and pressured by a deadline, would spin a complex set of events into a simple explanation, often by placing the blame for something on a single individual. “The search for a scapegoat is the easiest of all hunting expeditions,” Eisenhower wisely observed. And the scapegoat was sometimes Ike. “In the stories that began to circulate about me,” Eisenhower wrote about his war years, “I should have seen the ample warning that the printed word is not always the whole truth.” But armed with his anger drawer, Ike was able to take the criticism in stride and get back to work; when a negative opinion of his leadership came to his attention, “the hoked-up details usually provoked from [him] no more than a grimace or, once in a while, a hearty guffaw.” http://artofmanliness.com/2012/06/03/leadership-lessons-from-dwight-d-eisenhower-2-how-to-not-let-anger-and-criticism-get-the-best-of-you/

STUDY: In Presidential Campaign, Romney And Allies Running Far More Negative Ads Than Obama
Democratic presidential advertisers, led by the Obama campaign itself, aired more than 25,000 positive ads compared to just 10,844 negative ones, good for a 70% positive ad rate. Meanwhile, Republican advertisers — the largest of which have been outside groups like Karl Rove’s Crossroads GPS — have released just 7,584 positive ads compared to more than 20,000 negative ones.
So a ration of 70% versus 27% and it’s the President’s campaign that is negative.
Like we didn’t know that but the media is pushing that lie all the time.
Live in a trailer home where the land your trailer sits on was bought out by a company (owned by the former head of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources — you can’t make this crap up!) that wants to divert 3 million gallons of water per day to the hyfrofracking industry? Welcome to your eviction notice:
Fact: While the nation's economy saw job growth and rising incomes, MA saw job loss and falling median income under Romney's watch.— Jim Messina (@Messina2012) June 04, 2012
I don’t know if Chips posted this great article from Steve Benen
A tale of 2 standards
Romney has been running for president pretty much non-stop for six years. He and his aides have, in other words, had a very long time to come up with compelling explanations for all of the shortcomings in Romney’s record.
With that in mind, Romney’s staffers had to know that when they appeared on the Sunday shows yesterday, they’d hear questions about Massachusetts being 47th out of 50 states in job creation during Romney’s tenure. And what was their explanation? Romney inherited a bad situation, and when he left, things were marginally better.
That and lying saying that Mass was 50th in job creation when Romney took office and 37th when he left-Bob McDonnell on State of the Union and Ed Gillespe on another Sunday show.
Republicans are motivated by hate. They are motivated to crush their opponent. They are seldom motivated by anything positive and certainly nothing sensical.
So if they can use WI as a club against PBO, unions, Democrats, the 99% — they are motivated.
Frankly I wish our side was that motivated — stopping these RWNJ’s should be reason enough to be enthused. Jackasses.
Priebus on MSNBainC again. The GOP really works morning and Afternoon programming on MSNBainC…
I wonder if they think they can sway voters on this channel?
Yea I saw it….when she asked if Republicans could give any credit to the President for the auto bailout success and he said….no….
They always stay on message.
I don’t like that guy’s face, he’s so arrogant….grrrrr
Food stamps are an excellent investment–@USDA estimates that for every $1 we spend on food stamps, $1.71 is injected into the economy.— Kirsten Gillibrand (@SenGillibrand) June 04, 2012
I hope someone asks PBO about that Maureen Dowd article and he says “Maureen Dowd, Dowd hmmm.. who is she again?”
He’s too classy and respectful for that , I know but one can wish!
I didn’t read the gobshite’s piece but so happy Charles Pierce called her out. The comments under it were all in agreement that gobshite is a petty waste.
Thanks for the link you L and D……..funny stuff!…..I didn’t read the vile Dowd’s article but there’s a few snipets in Charles Pierce’s article
I can’t believe she wrote that!
”Covering a humorous W. at the unveiling of his portrait, the White House press actually seemed nostalgic for the president who bollixed up Afghanistan, Iraq, Katrina and the economy — a sure sign that the Obama magic is flagging.”
Is anyone else having issues with our gravatar? Half the time I am Jackie4Obama and other times I am JackieinArizona with no picture and I have been logged in the whole time.
Hey TOD family! Yay!!!! I can finally post again. It’s only been forever. When I was posting I was getting those gazillion email messages. I didn’t know how to turn it off so I stopped posting. Thought I’d try again. I’ve been lurking but not able to “talk” to you. Missed you guys. Going to try and make a few calls for Wisconsin this evening. Can’t believe there’s even a question about recalling Walker. Ugh.
We definitely will prevail proud. As you stated on Twitter yesterday, “Yes We Can!” and “Yes We Will!” never been more applicable than in this year’s election.
Just before Browning was selected in 2011 by Scott as Secretary of State, Browning led a group called “Protect Your Vote Inc,” which was set up to oppose fair redistricting. One of the biggest checks to Browning’s organization came from the Center to Protect Patients’ Rights, which gave $100,000 in 2010. At the time of the donation, the source of the money was shrouded in secrecy. View a screen shot of the disclosure:
snip/
But as Republic Report exclusively reported last month, the Center to Protect Patients’ Rights is part of a universe of front groups financed by David and Charles Koch, the petrochemical billionaires, as well as several other billionaires, as part of an election-influencing effort. New reports this week about the brothers’ strategy indicate that they will now use this constellation of front groups to finance $400 million of a $1 billion campaign in outside money to defeat President Obama and congressional Democrats. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Mitt Romney’s Super PAC, and several nonprofits controlled by Karl Rove, will furnish the other $600 million.
Browning, who resigned as Secretary of State late last year, also relied heavily on funds from the Republican Party of Florida and the Florida Chamber of Commerce, a big business lobbying group, to support his Protect Your Vote organization, which ultimately failed in blocking redistricting reform. Browning is currently pursuing a bid for local office.
Update: The Florida Independent and the Brennan Center note that Browning orchestrated a controversial voter purge only weeks before the general election in 2008.
Isn’t it ironic that foreign money can be smuggled in to influence campaigns while voters and even the President are targeted as foreigners? Trans-national mega-companies are now “people” with free speech rights. but actual people can’t vote. The Grand Opulence Party is now the party of corruption that claims to be standing on high moral ground. It is planning in earnest to strip away democracy. Republicans are now raping the republic.
Obama campaign directly pressures reporters to hold Romney accountable for double standard on jobs claims: wapo.st/KKnnqM— Greg Sargent (@ThePlumLineGS) June 04, 2012
Right on – hold MSNBainCapital, Faux and Tea-NN pundiots responsible for their double standards with Willard.
Our new poll will show that 70% of Americans have no idea who Cory Booker is. Yet the Beltway spent a week obssessing over him.— Daily Kos Elections (@DKElections) June 04, 2012
The Beltway spent time “obsessing” over him, because it’s rare to see a surrogate throw the person he/she are supposed to be advocating for under the bus.
Because it’s not often that your surrogates, or Dem spokespeople, go on TV and trash your campaign message. People notice those things. Not helpful. And then Deval Patrick and then Bill Clinton did the same. Need people who, no matter their personal dealings or deep thoughts, can stay on message at this critical time. Stay off the TV if you cannot handle that task.
Yes there is a lot of talk that Walker will be the VP candidate and the Repub Party has grand plans for him to be president. They say he is the 2nd coming of Reagan!
Did I hear that right? Did Andrea Mitchell actually compare Maureen Dowd to Walter Cronkite??????? She said Dowd coming out against Obama, ignoring her constant harangues against Obama, was like Cronkite admonishing LBJ on the war. WHAT??? Mitchell is just beside herself with hate for Obama, everything is asked in a cynical manner, calling the jobs number a real turning point in the election, everyone losing faith in Obama. And she and her guests—Susan Page of USAToday and Ruth Marcus of WP—–were so critical at the nerve of Obama to attend a fundraiser by “celebrities”—–Sarah Jessica Parker and Anna Wintaur. No mention of who’s feeding Willard’s super-pacs of course. I got the feeling that Mitchell and the gals would prefer that only Willard collect money to compete in this election. That whole segment was a case study in how far away from any semblance of objectivity our media has fallen.
The outrage around the fundraiser seems to be the meme of the day. I watched a few minutes of Morning Joke this morning and they were critical as well.
Andrea Mitchell is another Howard Fineman. She is not a PBO supporter, as far as I’m concerned. But for her and Alex to high-light Maureen Dowd, oh well, that’s really sickening.
Whose left for Obama supporters to watch? Bashir and Sharpton, maybe Rachel and LOD? It’s really sickening. The unfairness and the imbalance, all in the name of fair and balanced is truly “nauseating”.
By the way, PM Carpenter hit on Maureen as well. He has a different slant, but it’s all good.
I care less that whether she supports the President or not. Her JOB, is to be nonpartisan and just report the FACTS. Unless they preface what they say, stating that IT IS THEIR PERSONAL OPINION, then she needs not taint the news! That goes for the ENTIRE LOT OF THEM!
Democracy depends on citizens having reliable, accurate facts put in a meaningful context. Journalism does not pursue truth in an absolute or philosophical sense, but it can–and must–pursue it in a practical sense. This “journalistic truth” is a process that begins with the professional discipline of assembling and verifying facts. Then journalists try to convey a fair and reliable account of their meaning, valid for now, subject to further investigation. Journalists should be as transparent as possible about sources and methods so audiences can make their own assessment of the information. Even in a world of expanding voices, accuracy is the foundation upon which everything else is built–context, interpretation, comment, criticism, analysis and debate. The truth, over time, emerges from this forum. As citizens encounter an ever greater flow of data, they have more need–not less–for identifiable sources dedicated to verifying that information and putting it in context.
From 6am-3pm and sometimes after that, MSNBainCapital is far right. No two ways around it.
It was not as bad in 08, since Comcast took over during the President Elects Transition period, that Channel is what Congress and DC is in a nutshell. Extremes On both sides of the aisle.
Strangely enough, the vast majority of the Country is moderate, sone 60%.
Odd, no???
A special ‘woot!’ because WI’s RWNJ SoS is going to put an army on the ground to fight ‘voter fraud’. In other words, intimidate Hispanics and AA’s from doing their civic duty and voting.
From this same story, Unite Women wants WI voters to KNOW THIS!
“From Wisconsin Election Protection, we are receiving reports that some clerks are still asking for Voter ID under the guise of “practice.” This is NOT OK! There should be NO requests for photo ID from voters! If you see signs, if you are asked for your ID, please notify us IMMEDIATELY. Call our 1-866-OUR-VOTE (1-866-687-8683), post here, or tweet us @EPWisco. Be sure to tell us what polling site & where the site is located!!!
The entire Justice Dept. should be in Kenosha County. They got rid of that crook who waited until she knew how many votes she needed and then ‘found them’ but it’s still a Republican loon running the show.
Grrrrr. I just spent my lunch break making 25 calls to Wisconsin. Unfortunately I was only able to reach 2 voters. I spoke to a very nice woman in the Fort Atkinson area who will vote Barrett tomorrow and registered her son as soon as he turned 18 in February and he will be voting tomorrow as well. She said she polled her family and she has 13 votes for Barrett to 1 vote for Walker. She made me chuckle when she said there always has to be one in every family.
My second to the last call was to a young man who said he didn’t think he would have time to vote tomorrow. I asked what time did he have to be at work. He said 1:00PM. I said well the polls are open at 7:00AM to 8:00PM. I asked if he could go vote before he goes into work. His response, I HAVE TO SLEEP. Mind you he is off work today. I spent 22 minutes on this call. He said he would TRY but he’ll def be voting “Obama” this year. SMDH. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
Now pardon me while I rant.
WHY IN THE HELL ARE PEOPLE IN THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY SO APATHETIC!!!
Last night before I went to bed I was perusing the internet looking for GOTV efforts by the GOP for the Wisconsin recall election. Other than a blog post here or there that Repubs should vote “to make it bad for Obama” I see very little activity by organizations to GOTV for Walker.
Sooooo can someone tell me why this election is so close? Our side has Democracy for America (DFA), Bold Progressives, OFA, Wisconsin Democratic Party, MoveOn and all kinds of Unions on the ground working tirelessly to GOTV for Barrett and this damn race is close.
All Conservatives have is Talk Radio. How on earth can that be more powerful than all those groups working collectively to GOTV? How can the enthusiasm meter favor Republicans as stated in the PPP poll? My only answer is because the base that makes up the Democratic Party as a whole are simply not engaged. They don’t care. Oh they will GOTV for PBO this November but everything else is well…..no big deal to them.
I had a FB friend who made 100′s of calls this past weekend to WI tell me that the one big issue she kept hearing was that some voters have an issue with a Recall election. They just think that once you are voted in you should leave well enough alone. WHAT? Give me a friggin break! Do they think for a moment that if the shoe was on the other foot that the Repubs wouldn’t take full advantage of Recalling a Democratic Governor.
I remember that recall election in California and early on most polling had established by a fairly decent margin that Schwarzenegger was going to win that election in the biggest bluest state in the Nation.
Democrats have to be pushed and prodded and begged and stroked to get to the polls while the Repubs just run negative ads and scream to go vote on Conservative Talk Radio and they get to be competitive in elections that they should be getting blown away in and that includes Presidential Elections.
For penance I’ll make 25 more calls this evening!!!!
Rightgeous rant. I really think that Dems, as a group, focus more on national races than anything from the state level on down. That is why mid-terms have a lower turnout on the Dem side than the Republican side. Republsicans, as a whole, look at all levels as having equal importance, whcih they do.
Until Dems focus on achieving power at all levels of government, thsi will continue to be a problem.
I guarantee you, if this recall were being held the same day as the Presidential election, Barrett would win easily.
Disclaimer: I know I am talking in generalities here, and there are plenty of Dems that don’t think that way, but too many do.
Hey, Donna, I think you hit on something: I hadn’t thought about people who don’t like the idea of recalls. You know what? I don’t either. I think a misuse of recalls can lead to complete chaos. That being said, when a governor makes as his centerpiece legislation something he never informed the voters he was going to do, that’s a different story. That’s fraud, if you ask me.
Be aware: they already have RecallBarrett ready to go.
I know many of you guys despise dKos and I am very wary and very careful. But this is where dKos can do some good: every day there are at least several diaries with links to GOTV in WI and how to help and list a variety of links and organizations. The information is out there.
Your lament on Democratic voters: it’s my pet peeve. I don’t understand it, I never will. My God, PBO SAID it would be hard, said it would take decades to undo three decades of Republican damage. He said it would not be easy. And yet they think he put himself up as some Liberal Messiah. That was in their own fevered imaginations, never in PBO’s words or deeds. I truly believe that if he’d had the wind at his back and had the support of all Dem’s like he should have, they actually would have gotten so much more of what they allegedly want. LL’s excellent post at TPV says is far more articulately than I can.
and we here in minnesota have most of our ofa staff in wi on the ground plus volunteers over the weekend doing gotv stuff. It’s not all bad, so take heart.
I know though don’t you just want to kick some people’s a$$e$? Get out and VOTE! And there is always the adage: If you don’t vote then you have nothing to complain about. But I do hope that there are more ppl like your first responder than your second!
I just came here first on the blog today so do not know if this has already been addressed today or not. I am looking for help in knowing whom to forward an email I got telling people of several things in the ACA law siting pgs and partial wording with negative consequences. I know it is GOP oriented talking points and think it is a new one but am hoping to get it refuted. One I am already aware of and can refute myself having to do with the so called death panels. The rest I would hope could have a quick response debunking. I hate smear emails. I would prefer to set this person straight over taking them off my email list.
OG, I got that email (fairly sure it is the same one you are describing) last fall or winter. Chips provided me with some excellent info–page or section number of the ACTUAL bill. The one that is described in the email is when all the discussion was taking place….well before it was signed. Was put together by a Republican congresswoman from MI, I believe. I have company coming any minute so no time to do more research or send you what Chips found for me. Hope someone else can help.
Thanks tnmtngirl and desertflower. I just got through calling Obama Campaign Hdqrs and going to attack watch. No luck there as the email did not have a website address. Then I called the healthcare office and got an email address to the press person. It bounced back to me as not recognizing some part of the address. I then forwarded my email to kathleen sebelius with my explanation of why and got through. I hate these mass smear emails with just enough info to make them look authentic. I could debunk alot of it but not all. Thanks for the input.
OK, folks, what’s the deal with these references to Daily Kos? They are even in my twitter TL. Isn’t this the same Daily kos that help instigate the whole ‘race base’ issue by repeating GOP talking points? I recall they called PBO everything derogatory, racist name in the book? Isn’t this the same Daily Kos that pushed the ‘let’s hold Obama and Dems accountable like the Professional Left & Ed Shultz? When people were offended by the various dairies, the only option was too leave. Didn’t they push BWD and AA off that blog? Now, we are friends and should give them clicks? Perhaps I am getting this new site confused with another. I don’t mean to start any trouble. I may have the wrong ‘Daily Kos’. My bad.
It was completely awful for the first two years, without question. I wandered back there when the primaries started because I like their liveblogging and found that the Craziness was way down. There’s still some crazy talk, but by a large margin I’m seeing pro-PBO stuff. So if I find something I think is important I will link to it. Donna said upthread that she couldn’t find GOTV stuff anywhere for WI. dKos has been on top of this throughout this recall, with many important links. I’ve donated to Barrett through them, and donated to some of the down ticket recalls. It’s been easy to find there.
In 2007/2008, dKos was the place to go to support PBO. The Hillary supporters had gone “on strike” right before I started there. It ws my first blog I followed regularly, hence “57 and Female” (I’m not 62). During debates through the primaries and the general election, there was rapid fire response in getting its readers to vote in online and instant polls — they were instrumental in not letting CW go against PBO like it had done with Gore and Kerry. They did a lot of good work helping PBO get elected.
Did the PL, whiny left take over? You bet and it was ugly, stupid and destructive. I left there with BWD, found TOD. But I have found useful stuff there recently and I’m not ashamed to pass that information on. I understand that many will never forgive — I respect that because the place was a destructive cesspool from the day after PBO was inaugurated. I am not swinging like a crazy pendulum to loving all things dKos, but I also won’t hate all things dKos if there is information there I need. We need all the votes we can get and I want those people voting for the Good Guys.
It was the same for me….I didn’t check that place for month and months…..but when noticed I that I was having more and more links on my TL, I gave it a go….I don’t check everyday.
I saw Kos’ rant recently, he was very specific that the goal was to elect the President.
…..2 days after I read his rant.. I saw 2 diaries in the Rec List by the usual suspects, catnip for the Naderiste, FDL, Greenwald cultists or whoever they are…it’s always always the same people.
So…once in a while is good enough for me. I like Jed though…..I didn’t see anything negative from him so far, maybe I missed it but I didn’t.
Yesterday I saw a diary about how Up with Chris was the best news shows on tv……not surprised that some regulars at kos would think so
Chris Hayes…A guy who is uncomfortable calling fallen soldiers heroes but has no problem with Jeremy Scahill calling the President a murderer on his show…I didn’t see it because I don’t watch his show but from what I saw on Twitter, he just sat there and didn’t say a word….
Is there any doubt that this is a concerted campaign by our MSM to inflict damage on PBO. This is eerily familiar to the situation prior to the 2010 midterms where one could not read ANY msm news source (left, right or center) without encountering constant bashing of PBO. They were waiting for a subpar jobs report as their cue to “take it to PBO”. How can one jobs report logically lead to this onslaught of anti-PBO propaganda? The answer is it can’t, there is no logic to what we are witnessing. The jobs report wasn’t out for an hour before the MSM placed total blame on PBO and totally absolved the GOP of any blame. Further proof that this is a concerted effort by the MSM/GOP just look at the language being used. MSNBC has an article about how the jobs report “changed perceptions” about PBO (i.e., now PBO is a loser). Now Chris Matthews his basically calling PBO a loser. Add that to Dowd and Fineman’s claiming democrats are abandoning PBO and think Mitt will win the election. Finally we have Mitt’s campaign saying how confident they are that Mitt will defeat PBO (even Mitt’s grandson asking why he hasn’t beat “Obama” yet). This is a textbook coordinated propaganda campaign. The MSM/GOP must be banking on Walker winning in Wisconsin so they can say it is an omen for PBO’s election chances. Realize the game that is being played.
Doesn’t scare me. Only makes me more fired up and determined than ever to re-elect this President. And if any cheating goes on in Nov to give Romney a “win” I am prepared to be in the streets rioting (with many, many others both within and outside the US)
It is frightening how corrupt the Fourth Estate is. Even Martin Bashir is joining in the anti-PBO orgy, speaking of PBO’s fundraising problems and how he has lost his “mojo”. I have no confidence in any of these “media personalities”. They are all bought and paid for.
One can’t help but notice the anti-Obama onslaught in the media. And I think that’s why so many keep asking why Obama isn’t in Wi. They’re banking on Walker surviving and wanted to pronounce Obama feckless, the election over. But I think Bashir brought up the fundraising subject, the fact that Repubs are complaining about Obama associating with celebrities, including his station’s Andrea Mitchell and most other anchors, was to point out the hypocrisy of it—–and the quality comparison of the respective supporters. He listed Willard’s appearances with the Donald and Ted Nugent and Rush—–the “celebrities” he has on his side—a sad and embarrassing short list.
Well, I have to say that it’s not just the MSM. There have been very few occasions when Democrats as a whole have wholeheartedly supported PBO in public. You have not seen many on shows or in the press defending him. Look at Maxine Waters, Emmanuel Cleaver and that CBC. Few Democrats have been vocally supportive. Don’t you think loads of Congressional Democrats should be out telling everyone about the GOP obsrtuction and why the jobs numbers are what they are ? PBO had to win in 2008 virtually alone with his supporters and he will have to do so in 2012 again.
Let them sit there and talk. PBO and his crew (including his supporters) are organizing, canvassing and promoting his positive message and great achievements. Don’t let these two-faced harpies turn us around. Forward ever, backward never. We can prevail.
Actually, I have a lot of respect for Maxine Waters. She is quite upfront about it when she disagrees with the President on something, but she doesn’t do any name calling. And she is also very quick to praise the President. In other words, she may have a policy difference with him from time to time (as do most of us) but she has never disrespected him and is a strong supporter of his.
Perhaps the problem is that vocal supporters of PBO are not invited on tv shows and are not quoted in news articles. They are not given the “microphone” because their support of PBO and blame of the GOP will run counter to the meme or narrative that the MSM is busy propagating. The MSM will even take statements out of context to create the impression of discord between PBO and fellow dems (while ignoring negative things republicans say about Mitt). It is no accident that Fineman (who works for Huffington Post, which is somehow considered a progressive blog) and Dowd (who works for the NYT, which is somehow also considered “liberal) were chosen to begin this new “PBO is a loser” meme. I feel it is important to “connect the dots” and call this propaganda out for what it is. Sunlight is the best disinfectant.
And with rare exceptions, the only Dems who get invited on the talk shows are the real mild-mannered ones, nice but not forceful in their message, those who Joe Scarborough can shut down in a minute or make them start agreeing with him. And if any Dem has said anything critical of Obama, he is on their programs the next day or the next week to expound. Until Stephanie Cutter last Sun. and very few others, all our best spokespeople, those who can deliver a an undeniably strong pro-Obama message, are not welcome on TV.
What I think will help though is that PBO does not have to rely on TV and newspapers solely to fet out his message. Social media has changed the media dynamic and that along with the ground work was and is a true game changer.
PROOF OFA CAMPAIGN ADS ON MITT ROMNEY BAIN CLAIMS AND TIME AS GOVERNOR ARE WORKING.
Karl Rove (aka the architect of GWB’s campaign) Crossroads GPS is complaining that President Obama is using fear to win the election. Try not to laugh.
This is sort of funny! Farther made a fallacious chart today, of the Presidential intrude numbers.
Only he spread the points out two inches apart.
The President was at 57 on Friday and after the jobs report went to 53.
The chart he showed, looked like Mt Everest, what was only a 4 point drop looked like the Grand Canyon!
LOL!
Exactly. We need to weather setbacks like the recent jobs report. I think we’re staying focused pretty well, but we all need each other’s support once in awhile.
THINGS PRESIDENT OBAMA IS NOT ALLOWED TO DO FOR THE 2012 ELECTION
This is just hilarious. I have been trying to keep track of all the things that the Romney campaign and the mainstream media feel President Obama just should not be doing for the 2012 election campaign. The attempts to muzzle, handicap and restrict everything PBO does is really laughable. I guess this falls in line with Ann Romney’s pronouncement that “It’s Our Turn Now”. And Mitt Romney saying PBO should pack his bags. This election is such a bother.
President Obama is …..
- Not allowed to talk about Bain and Romney’s job creation claims.
- Not allowed to talk about Romney’s dismal record as governor of Massachusetts.
- Not allowed to talk about the 2004 Winter Olympics.
- Not allowed to talk about Romney’s wealth and Caymon Islands.
- Not allowed to ask questions about Romney’s tax returns.
- Not allowed to talk about RomneyCare because it was the model for ObamaCare.
- Not allowed to talk about Romney’s family.
- Not allowed to talk about Romney’s Mormon faith.
- Not allowed to run negative campaign ads (ever). Bob Schieffer of CBS is especially concerned about this one.
- Not allowed to take vacation, especially in Hawaii.
- Not allowed to play golf (ever). The Romney campaign is really concerned about the optics of this one.
- Not allowed to do fundraisers with (gasp) celebrities like George Clooney, Sarah Jessica Parker and Anna Wintour.
- Not allowed to talk about the OBL mission. Because of course, Romney would have done the same thing.
- Not allowed to talk about ObamaCare benefits since implementation.
- Not allowed to talk about Dodd-Frank. Romney wants to repeal it. He just doesn’t like regulations.
- Not allowed to run on PBO’s large volume of accomplishments.
- Not allowed to talk about foreign policy achievements. Romney gives PBO and “F” anyway.
- Not allowed to talk about the wreckage left by President George W. Bush.
- Not allowed to talk about first dog “Bo” because it will remind people of that horrifying ordeal with Romney’s dog Seamus.
Bashir must have gotten the memo too, (i.e.,Mitt is the political superstar and PBO has lost his mojo). Our news media is as fake and scripted as pro wrestling.
This is republicans coming home (what a shocker). It’s not a shift in actual support. It’s Republicans after the bruising primaries deciding that — no matter what cult he belongs to or if he actually provided health care to one person who actually needed it (that lazy slug. Go buy your own God damned health care. Oh, wait……..), he’s a Republican and therefore they are enthusiastic and will crawl over broken glass to vote for him.
For Republicans, it’s been that simple for the last 30+ years. He’s a Republican and I will do anything to vote for him.
Got that, whiny left? That’s how they got where they are, you dumbasses!
Exactly! It is Repubs he still had to win over. That is what is increasing his numbers. Romney should be leading the President in double digits by the millions of dollars the Repubs have already spent. They have been saying the same things for three years now. The President is the next Carter; the low umemployment numbers; he’s in over his head etc. Romney is the weak link so I hope the President and his campaign just keeps hammering him on everything. It is the beginning of the campaign. I am so excited to watch the President work this!
By the way I think the cable media dislike the President because they know how he feels about them. He has done very few interviews with cable shows. I saw a few with CNN and John Harwood of CNBC but that’s it. Chris Matthews is so angry about that it actually has come across on his show. I know the media has written the President’s off so many times but he comes right back. Again I am going to just sit back to watch him and his team work this out! It will not be perfect but this a man that has shown time and time again he will walk right in the eye of the storm and come out the winner.
North Carolina GOP Platform Says Government Should Be Able To Discriminate Against Gays
Emboldened by a recently enacted constitutional amendment prohibiting civil unions and same-sex marriage, North Carolina’s Republican party adopted a platform on Sunday, June 3 that condones discrimination on the basis of “sexual orientation.” The platform’s Article Ill: Individual Liberty states:
Government should treat all citizens impartially, without regard to wealth, race, ethnicity, disability, religion, sex, political affiliation or national origin. We oppose all forms of invidious discrimination. Sexual orientation is not an appropriate category.
I missed the end of Bashir—phone call—-but I sorta heard a dispute going on with Luke Russert and I see a reference to it on twitter. Can anyone tell me what that was all about. It looked like Bashir was disputing everything Russert was saying, correcting him. Re. what subject?
Here is a serious question, what did the President Obama do to 99% of the members of the MSM, did I miss where he pissed in their cups? I am honestly trying to come up with an answer to the open disrespect, animosity and overall negativity that they display towards the president. You see no honest and truthful discussion of his administration’s policies; you get distortion, lies and blames. They seemly blame him for everything that goes wrong in the country at all level and gives him no credit for anything successful. What is it about him that they so detest and I think the idea of race/skin color is too simple an answer because you see some of those same behaviors thrown at him by dems and progressives. So what is it? This is something I constantly ponder as I tune in to MSM. Is it really as simple as “bought and paid for.” Sometimes the bias displayed is so laughable except one cannot laugh because this is a serious issue, an undermining of democracy. Honestly, looking at the state of things I get depressed. I see how hard everyone here fight and push back and I tell myself that it will be okay because in the end sense will overrule nonsense but honestly, I worry about our electorate because many are misinformed.
Okay time for me to take a long deep yoga breath. Thanks for listening TODville.
I share your same concerns. I’ve thought about that a lot too. I can’t figure it out either, and I agree it’s not just racism. Is he the cool guy they never were, the one who can always answer every question in the best way possible and smoothly handle every bump in the road, jealous of those crowds cheering and reaching out to touch him and shake hands, who looks comfortable in every setting with leaders and people from all walks of life, something they could never pull off? I’m not sure what it is. And, like you, I also hope good prevails, that there are still more common sense people in this country than the crazy haters, those who believe their own eyes and ears and disregard the MSM garbage. It’s nerve wracking, that’s for sure. Our news media has strayed so far away from any honest, objective reporting, failing in their duty, harming our country.
Actually I don’t think PBO. Has done anything to the press. I ‘m not sure they were ever really “with” him. Caught up in the historic nature of the first campaign and election, they were for sure, but back then they were sniping at him.
Plus, the press, like people, is fickle; who they seem to love today, they discard tomorrow. Problem with PBO is he is not easily discarded. I think the press like many others cannot stand the fact that he is what he says he is, that he is still adored by millions, that the world recognizes and respects him. THE nature of people is to try to tear down what they have built up…I don’t know why.
For PBO, the biblical maxim is true: “” A prophet is without honor in his own country..” That’s why we must hold him up and stop expecting others to do it.
Bashir’s take on PBO’s fund-raising was not critical. He approached the subject, and I thought he poured water on all the uproar. He used PBO’s fund-raising and contrasted it with Mitt’s; it was not favorable toward Mitt.
He was trying to get Luke to admit that the house republicans were not actually doing anything to create jobs. Luke kept squirming away from admitting. Martin had the last word, and Luke was left seeming kind of weak to me.
“I think the idea of race/skin color is too simple an answer because you see some of those same behaviors thrown at him by dems and progressives”.
Please don’t make the mistake of thinking there is no racism on the Left, because there is. I think that the explaination for most of the anti-PBO hysteria we see in the MSM is due to the corporate ownership of our media. Corporations benefit from the anti-tax/anti-regulation policies of the GOP, so the corporate owned media carries water for the GOP to protect the interests of their owners. Racism makes it easier for the MSM to engage in the Obama bashing. It makes it easier for them to display their disdain and disrespect without any backlash.
I am not making the mistake of assuming there is no racism on the left. What I meant to say and left out because I thought it was clear, was that you see some of the same behavior from dems or some on the left and cannot conclude racism/skin color…e.g Maxine Waters or some member of the CBC…etc.
I do believe your theory of corporate ownership of the media sheds some light on the problem and that would explain the distortion of policies but the seeming resent towards the man himself, seems to be something else.
Well I know that some of the jealousy and resentment PBO is subjected to by the likes of Tavis Smiley and Cornell West is due to personal agendas and pettiness (then Sen. Obama did not attend one of Tavis’ “race forums” and offered to send Mrs. Obama instead, but that was not enough for Tavis, who has hated PBO ever since). The CBC lashing out at PBO serves two purposes (1) it gets money flowing from the PL and (2) it absolves them of responsibility from getting anything done in the House, just blame PBO.

On Tuesday morning, First Lady Michelle Obama will unveil the 22nd private-sector commitment for her Let’s Move! campaign when she joins Robert A. Iger, Chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company at an event in Washington, DC. Mrs. Obama will “announce significant advancement of Disney’s existing nutrition guidelines policy,” the White House said on Monday. Disney first created a Let’s Move! partnership with Mrs. Obama in September of 2010, six months after the she started her childhood obesity campaign.
In addition to serving millions of meals daily at its theme parks, Disney sells a wide array of branded foods, including fruits, vegetables and dairy through its Consumer Products division. “Disney has helped kids and families consume over 1.3 billion servings of Disney-branded fruits and vegetables since 2007 as well as 50 million servings of Disney branded dairy in the past year alone,” the company said in 2010. (Above: Pre-packaged ‘Foodles’ contain cheese, grapes and apple slices)
In 2010, Disney launched “The Magic of Healthy Living Campaign,” a multi-media promotion that featured Mrs. Obama and Disney child TV stars messaging Let’s Move! healthy eating and fitness projects on TV, online, and at theme parks, designed to target the hundreds of millions of Mouse House fans. The company in 2010 also made a $1 million donation to sponsor ten gardening and playground projects for ‘underserved communities’ across the US.
Mrs. Obama and Iger will make the announcement on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the Newseum, the White House said.
In February, the First Lady celebrated the second anniversary of the Let’s Move! campaign with a stop at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, where she joined about 800 kids for an event focusing on physical fitness… [ more in the article]
Obama campaign manager Jim Messina released a Web video on Friday looking to allay the worries of supporters who have seen GOP contender Mitt Romney rally in the polls after emerging from a bruising Republican primary.
“Over the past few weeks I’ve had people asking me about all of the polls they’ve been seeing,” Messina says. “I say the same thing to all of them — we knew this was going to be a tough race, and we knew that once Mitt Romney locked up the nomination, Republicans would get behind him and this race would be tight, just like we always knew it would be.”
I agree it’s going to be tight, but I am making a prediction here and now: President Obama will win 53-47. They know exactly where to concentrate their money and effort…..not in places like where I live. They spend their time and money correctly. I would never wager against David Plouffe and Barack Obama together! Frankly, I don’t think it’s going to be as tight as the MSM want it to be and keep trying to make it. That effort is all these numbers and stuff are about today…..keeping the race “interesting” for ratings. Romney is NOT interesting, so they have to work to keep interest high. In 2008, interest was naturally high. This year is has to be worked up.
So…..next November, you can skin me alive if I’m wrong, but I have every confidence.
I hope you’re right, Carolyn. What infuriates me is the dishonesty and partisanship of the news media. If they just reported the news objectively, if the voters could just see and hear and know 1/4 of what we see, hear and know from this blog, it would be smooth sailing. The news media is making it tougher than it should be with their constant anti-Obama drumbeat. Most people remain unaware of their motive, stirring up negativity in order to have a horse race so they can make more money selling ads—or whatever corporate/personal motive. Most people probably still assume that what they’re hearing on the networks has a factual basis. That’s what’s infuriating— and concerning—- that and the billionaires’ billions unleashed by Cit. United which will used in negative ads to try to defeat him.
I will not put a number on it but I believe the President will win with a comfortable margin. The Obama campaign in working the get some donors off the sidelines. They may let the media meme flow for a while. I think some are mad he hasn’t kissed their buts. I can’t believe the Dems are going to give up the Supreme court, women and civil rights because that’s what going to happen if they don’t join the President in this fight.
TOD, please don’t get upset over all this nonsense today. Do you honestly think that Romney’s personal rating has jumped 14 percentage points? What has he done in the last few weeks to change the way anyone would view him? Nothing. He’s done nothing. The poll is a lie. And notice this poll comes out as the media, from the NYT to Fox to CBS to MSNBC to The Washington Post, are pushing the exact same “everyone hates Obama” meme. It’s a lie and it’s the media doing what their masters have told them to do. To get Romney in the White House.
And not to belabor this idea, but this is why I continually say that the Obama campaign has to fight the media. Romney is basically irrelevant. His real opponent is the mainstream media.
hi cj
i liked the beginning, but i think it got bogged down about half way through. or maybe i just didn’t like the direction the plot was taking. of course, it’s adhering to history, so there’s no way to slap a happy transformative finale on the thing!
AND folks that is why I keep saying that we have to BECOME THE MEDIA. and override them with their b.s Always, always, remember these are the folks that drove the narrative on Iraq etc, etc. Fight them back…not each other.
As soon as they say something, bitch and whine for 5 minutes perhaps,if so much, and then turn on them and give them facts. They deal in the their opinions which magnified becomes the stor;, the sensational, propaganda and ratings, and we have to deal in facts and our voices. We have to be fierce, productive, and challenging..a la Stephanie Cutter. Forward!
My advice about the MSM and their bullshit meme: keep your heads down and keep on working. Nobody gives a fuck about those cartoon characters but people like us and the shit-for-brains who run the media. most people are working all day and when they go home, they don’t watch MSNBFOX or TeaNN. This shit is gonna be constant, fuck it and move on. The Bitches and Hoes in the media are the last things on my mind.
Live by the loan guarantees, die by the loan guarantees

Mitt Romney and his allies invested quite a bit of energy last week attacking Solyndra and Solyndra-related investments, which they see as inherently wasteful. As the Romney campaign put it, President Obama “has given billions of taxpayer dollars to companies that later failed,” which is scandalous because the White House has tried to pick “winners and losers,” rather than letting the free market function on its own.
As Michael Grunwald put it, “That’s capitalism. That’s lending. That’s life. As one Obama aide told me: Some students who get Pell grants are going to end up drunks on the street.” It’s not as if those failures discredit the entire Pell grant program
But Romney’s not just wrong on the substance; he’s also remarkably hypocritical. Soon after the Republican hosted a campaign stunt outside a Solyndra office, we learned that a Massachusetts solar panel company that received a state grant while Romney was governor also filed for bankruptcy.
People, do we really want to use this site as a repository for our complaints about the media ? If it turns into a dumping ground of negativity it doesn’t help anybody, least of all our President or ourselves.
OK—-Cramer was sure optimistic about the economy. He said all indicators are very positive. He said one disappointing jobs report and everyone goes off the rails, but all aspects of economy look strong. He was hyper-optimistic.
Respectfully Bill, I wouldn’t call this site a “dumping ground of negativity.” Rather, it is an oasis of information – which is mostly positive about our President, but some of which entails keeping ourselves and fellow citizens properly informed on the media’s unethical behavior and disingenuous antics. There are many people who lurk here who do not post and they derive relevant information from what is being posted.
The posts today about the media are highly relevant and appropriate because they are in response to a recent onslaught of negative and unfair attacks on our President from the major Cable News Networks. It’s our job to let fellow citizens and voters know that what they are seeing on TV is not necessarily the truth, and can be heavily skewed and agenda-driven. That’s what responsible citizens do.
Tweety’s brilliant idea for PBO is that he should have a BIG JOBS PLAN—-wonder why Obama hasn’t thought of that and THEN he is to go to Congress and say “Get in there and pass this bill right now!—- you’re staying in session ALL NIGHT if that’s what it takes!—–wonder why Obama hasn’t thought of that—-it would be SO EASY! And sure to work! Geez louise tweety, you are an idiot.
He wasn’t so bad earlier…..it’s his style, you never know what to expect, on and off….one that I’ve been very impressed with lately is Jim Cramer and never in a million years I would have thought it would happen.
C’mon dotster, Tweety’s a pundit — he doesn’t have time to read about administrative policy or political news. He’s got things to do, places to go, people to schmooze! How can you folks expect his to KNOW anything. The man’s busy, okay?
Tweety said he studied economics at the University of North Carolina but had to memorize everything. I guess that was his strange way of saying he knows what he is talking about.
I guess he must have been one of the beneficiaries of serious grade inflation back at that University…No one “memorizes” concepts of economics. This is not medical school. #TweetyFail.
I agree with itgurl. It’s propaganda because they know that Romney, on any level, cannot compare with PBO. If they waited until November 6 for Romney to convince the electorate that he is the better choice, they know that will never happen because the majority of voters know and will show that Romney is not the better choice. So, they have to manufacture lies (polls, etc.) to boost Romney. The republicans did this doing their primaries. Remember, Romney would be down double digits on Friday and by Tuesday he’s beating his opponents. It’s all campaign by polls for them because their candidate is spineless, feckless, vapid, incompetent (failed) governor, greedy venture capitalist who can’t tell the truth even if the truth is standing in front him, and who has his money stashed away in overseas accounts to avoid paying taxes in a country where he wants to be its president. Yuck!
Hi fellow Tod Family and Lurkers, thought I would leave my lurking status and provide you with some good news. In early February, I presented a challenge–especially for Tod lurkers, to get a commitment from at least 9 new indivduals to vote for Obama/Biden plus a straight Democratic ticket for local, state, and federal candidates for the 2012 election. At the time, it represented getting one new voter per month. (I defined a new voter as one who did not vote in the 2008 election). Unfortunately, I received little response. However, I included myself for the challenge and thus I am providing a report on my results.
I have gotten a firm commitment from 20 individuals. I have been in constant contact with them and in fact, some voted in their primary elections. In addition, they have also committed to getting 9 new individuals to vote. In turn, they are asking their 9 to get 9 new members, etc. In fact, we have a long chain going. I am so excited, and believe me these 20 individuals are fired up. Of course, it is my responsibility to ensure that they actually cast their vote for the Nov. election. My 20 new voters come from the states of MD, VA, NC, FL, GA, OR, NM, AZ and TX. Here’s how I did it.
I got out my rolodex and called people that I had been close friends with in high school, college, work, neighbors, etc. but had lost contact over the years. First of all, they were happy to hear from me and we were able to talk about old times. They made me realize that most people are not as engaged in politics as I am. Some of them may have voted in the past but due to life changes, i.e. marriage, children, relocation, and other activities, that they were too busy to pay attention to politics. I also discovered that most of them do not watch the cable talk shows. They watch movies, sports, H&G TV, etc. My selling point to them was future Supreme Court nominations and the impact that it would have on women’s issues, civil rights, health care, etc. The other selling point was Health Care. None of them wanted to see the health care act repealed after they realized the benefits to them.
I am also encouraging them to vote early if possible in their states, and they have already become educated on the rules and regulations of voting. In fact, seven of them have become involved in protesting against the voting suppression laws in their states. My next task, which I have already begun, is to get those who voted for PBO in 2008 to get a commitment from 9 new voters, and keep the chain going.
I am really excited about the progress that has been made. I don’t worry about polls because the MSM does not know about what I am doing and these new voters are not counted anywhere. Once again, I am challenging others to try what I have done, and I’m confident that you will have similar success. I am one who is not comfortable calling strangers asking for anything, but this methodology entails talking to old close buddies and it works!
There is no doubt in my mind that POB/VP Biden are going to win with a healthy margin. I trust POB and his team and he would not have agreed to run again if he had thought that he could not win. Lets keep the faith and keep our eyes on the prize.
Thanks Chips for all that you do. I am so grateful for this site! I’ll come out of lurking and provide you with progress reports from time to time.
Fabulous! Fabulous! Fabulous! We can ALL do this to people we talk to everyday:) Good for you, bebe. Walking the walk and talking the talk! Thank you so much for sharing your tools of success with this, and please come back and let us know how things are progressing. ANY OF US CAN DO THIS!! Good for you:)
HOW awesome!!!! Thanks so much for what you do! All my old friends are not American citizens, but I do alot of tweeting. That’s my part for now. It’s a great idea though.
Hi all
Second! Contrats on 1st Japa!
Congrats Japa21
And to expand on that comment. no matter what happens tomorrow in Wisconsin, or at any time in the future, let us all keep our heads high. The RW wants to see us on the left demoralized. They will use every little thing to hammer us and to make not only PBO but all Dems look bad. We do not need to help them in that project.
Amen!!!!
AND THE CONGREGATION SAID…….
AMENNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!
Hellooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Japa

In Texas, 300,000 Eligible Voters Targeted In Purge
Florida voters are not the only ones who should be worried about whether their state has erroneously purged them from the list of eligible voters; the state of Texas also has a voter purge policy that erroneously targets eligible voters. The Houston Chronicle reports that, in a two year period, 300,000 eligible voters were warned that they may be removed from Texas voter rolls.
http://thinkprogress.org/justice/2012/06/04/494417/in-texas-300000-eligible-voters-targeted-in-purge/
I think that’s evidence GOPers think POTUS can win in Texas.
I haven’t posted the candle link here in a while, but because of the big day in Wisconsin, thought maybe some may want to join me in not only lighing a candle for our President, First Family and the Nation, but for all those in Wisconsin that have worked so hard to bring democracy back to Wisconsin.
http://www.gratefulness.org/candles/candles.cfm?l=eng&gi=PBO
Thank you Jackie!!!!!!!! I forget to do it. I so appreciate you reminding us!
great idea!
Share these videos with all you know.

Yeah, the odds are super slim but you never know. It would be such a grand night for the lucky winner.
Apparently, Mrs. O was on Rachael Ray on May 31st and I totally missed it! Here’s a link with some clips:
http://www.rachaelrayshow.com/show/segments/view/white-house-bbq-5-31/#
I thought President Obama was on at noon….I had to watch Alex Will for 5 minutes….way too long…when she quoted from Maureen Dowd’s article, I just turned it off….
Apparently it was a conference call, ChristiMTL, Lynn Sweet got it wrong with her tweet, it wasn’t a statement.
Oh ok Chips ….:)
Must be nice! It’s still important!
Great new Ad on BainMItt’s atrocious record in MA. He said to judge him on is record.
We never see these in Oregon. Romney has conceded the whole West Coast. This campaign is being fought in 8-9 states.
This is the best ad yet, and the good thing about it is that we do not have to lie like his campaign.

“In the stories that began to circulate about me,” Eisenhower wrote about his war years, “I should have seen the ample warning that the printed word is not always the whole truth.” But armed with his anger drawer, Ike was able to take the criticism in stride and get back to work; when a negative opinion of his leadership came to his attention, “the hoked-up details usually provoked from [him] no more than a grimace or, once in a while, a hearty guffaw.”

Seriously, that’s their defense.
http://maddowblog.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/06/04/12047948-a-tale-of-two-standards?lite
That and lying saying that Mass was 50th in job creation when Romney took office and 37th when he left-Bob McDonnell on State of the Union and Ed Gillespe on another Sunday show.
PPP poll
I dont understand how Republicans can be more enthused about voting than Democrats?
That makes no sense!
Please explain?
Flawed polling, or flawed DEM voters.
Jackasses.
Please help to spread this great video.
This is a great ad. Everytime I see our President standing up for us, I get goosebumps!
This is an incredible and powerful ad. Tweeted.
Priebus on MSNBainC again. The GOP really works morning and Afternoon programming on MSNBainC…
I wonder if they think they can sway voters on this channel?
Had MSNBC on…saw Priebus…TV off.
It’s just that simple.
Gotta learn MSNBC. You’ll lose me everytime you put one of these doofus’s on.
Obama/Biden 2012
Yea I saw it….when she asked if Republicans could give any credit to the President for the auto bailout success and he said….no….
They always stay on message.
I don’t like that guy’s face, he’s so arrogant….grrrrr
“Doofus” is the best word I have heard describing him.

HA! Jackie I was just about to post the same thing!!!
Either by recall or perp walk, Walker is going down.
But, but but the Christian Science Monitor told me that…
He is such a crook. I don’t understand why half of Wisconsin doesn’t see that.
Thanks jackieinarizona! That sounds Good for Democracy!

I can’t believe she wrote that!
”Covering a humorous W. at the unveiling of his portrait, the White House press actually seemed nostalgic for the president who bollixed up Afghanistan, Iraq, Katrina and the economy — a sure sign that the Obama magic is flagging.”

Ugh.
Welcome back to TOD Proud! Keep fighting the good fight here and on Twitter
Thank you, Hopefruit. I feel like I’m in the twilight zone with lying Romney and the lying media. They are just so ugly. But we will prevail.
We definitely will prevail proud. As you stated on Twitter yesterday, “Yes We Can!” and “Yes We Will!” never been more applicable than in this year’s election.
Welcome back:) Missed you.
Missed you guys, too. You are the best.

Florida Official Behind Gov. Rick Scott’s Voter Purge Linked To $1 Billion Campaign Effort Against Obama
Seriously…all hands on deck! Think like a liar and cheat if you want to get to the heart of the Beast! They are all corrupt. EVERY.LAST.ONE!
Koch Bros are doing the SAME thing in WI!!
I especially liked this comment to this story:
Isn’t it ironic that foreign money can be smuggled in to influence campaigns while voters and even the President are targeted as foreigners? Trans-national mega-companies are now “people” with free speech rights. but actual people can’t vote. The Grand Opulence Party is now the party of corruption that claims to be standing on high moral ground. It is planning in earnest to strip away democracy. Republicans are now raping the republic.
all I can say is wow DF that’s incredible MUST get rid of citizens united.
Will you please Tweet this article, alice? It’s a BFD!
I am going to tweet part of that comment DF.
Great! Can you Tweet the entire article? This needs to get out there. Thanks, Jackie!
Right on – hold MSNBainCapital, Faux and Tea-NN pundiots responsible for their double standards with Willard.
Asking these republican shills to be impartial and do their job….yea that will work…..
The Beltway spent time “obsessing” over him, because it’s rare to see a surrogate throw the person he/she are supposed to be advocating for under the bus.
That’s a good thing, because Cory Booker deserved a chance. He had done a lot of good things.

Vice President Scott Walker? Why he’s the frontrunner if he wins tomorrow.
Romney and Walker……Ha!…
Yes there is a lot of talk that Walker will be the VP candidate and the Repub Party has grand plans for him to be president. They say he is the 2nd coming of Reagan!
Unless Walker has friends in high places who will get him off the hook it he gets indicted, his career is over.
Update and words from Jim Messina:)
Special Shout Out to all you “poll watchers” out there:) You know who you are!!:)
Mrs Greenspan? Seriously, I detest that woman.
Did she say that for real?
Yes, for real. Dowd and Cronkite—-same, same, same.
I sent her a tweet …..what an idiot,…
Cronkite NEVER admonishing LBJ on the air. He voiced his anti-Nam commentary on his radio show. Mitchell is a fraud.
I just watched Douglas Brinkley on c-span Q & A LAST NIGHT talk about this in his new book. Most Americans did not even know he had a radio show too.
There may be a little jealousy involved with Mrs Greenspan, Susan Page , and Ruth Marcus discussing SJP and Anna Wintour.
Actually, Andrea Mitchell and Maureen Dowd are minor celebrities. They are not journalists, and frankly their bias has been showing for a long time.
Any wonder he STILL CHEATS??!!
Got that right!!!
Who had that Ethics of Journalism…LadyHawke??? Can someone TWEET that to Ms. Greenspan. Cronkite WAS A JOURNALIST….GREENSPAN IS A PAID HACK.
hahaha. DONE. I followed her just to tweet that message.
Thank you, love! We should REMIND ALL these so called “journalists” of their jobs! Tweet the entire LOT of them!!
Here ya go ……
PRINCIPLES OF JOURNALISM
1. Journalism’s first obligation is to the truth

Odd, no???
woot!
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/06/04/1097301/-BREAKING-Wisconsin-Recall-U-S-Department-Of-Justice-To-Monitor-Elections
Please Tweet and send out.
The entire Justice Dept. should be in Kenosha County. They got rid of that crook who waited until she knew how many votes she needed and then ‘found them’ but it’s still a Republican loon running the show.
Good catch, df.
Verizon To Lay Off 1,700 Workers After Paying CEO $22 Million Last Year
http://thinkprogress.org/
PressON!!!
Donna it’s not all bad look here the afl cio is having a big push:
http://www.aflcio.org/Blog/Political-Action-Legislation/Wisconsin-Huge-GOTV-Push-Marks-Recall-s-Final-Days
and we here in minnesota have most of our ofa staff in wi on the ground plus volunteers over the weekend doing gotv stuff. It’s not all bad, so take heart.
I know though don’t you just want to kick some people’s a$$e$? Get out and VOTE! And there is always the adage: If you don’t vote then you have nothing to complain about. But I do hope that there are more ppl like your first responder than your second!
#ImADemocratBecause is trending on twitter
Attack Watch. Healthcare.gov OFA
Oh dear. I certainly AM 62 am not “not” 62. But this is what happens when you turn 62……..
Yuck I just read that Martin Bashir said that President lost his mojo…….not Martin Bashir! arrhhhhh……..
Every liberal blog/rag is saying the same damn thing. People have had enough of that tired shit, that’s one reason why this blog get so many hits.
Bashir’s paycheck ultimately comes from MSNBainCapital, so I’m not surprised that he is succumbing to the pressure from bossman.
I saw that this morning…coffee wanted to drain out my nose….
LOL!
Not father(iPhone spell check again) but Rattner!!!
Intrade is a reactive, not predictive model.
Exactly. We need to weather setbacks like the recent jobs report. I think we’re staying focused pretty well, but we all need each other’s support once in awhile.
I think the chart was based on betting odds by an Irish bookie, as though that would be accurate in June predicting a November outcome.
I’m sure I missed a few.
You know how Robney will only give interviews to Fox?
The President should only give interviews to BET tv. That would really piss them off!
Oh, that’s a good one Jovie.
And ESPN.
Not allowed to slow jam the news with Jimmy Fallon ever again. And absolutely no more singing allowed.
Not allowed to talk about FLOTUS or First Daughters.
…and stop walking to church hand in hand with them looking all wholesome and cute.
…and no more soothing crying babies (we know they’re paid actors).
Watching Martin Bashir; Romney’s favor ability supposingly has increased by 14%. I guess he might be climbing from a 1% rating. A bunch of crock.
Yup, his favorability has increased by 14% and I am really Princess Di, and you’re Mae West…
They want a horserace so badly.
Bashir must have gotten the memo too, (i.e.,Mitt is the political superstar and PBO has lost his mojo). Our news media is as fake and scripted as pro wrestling.
Martin got the memo that his paycheck is coming from MSNBainCapital, and he has to follow orders or be out of a job.

I refuse to watch any politics shows until they all stop running around with their hair unfire
Thanks dotster3. Yes, it is really scary to see how far the news media has fallen. There is simply very little journalistic integrity in the MSM.
I share your concerns too.
He pissed in their cups by having the audacity to run and get elected President in 2008.
perhaps you are correct and it is as simple as you say hf2.

———–

New and improved…with a side by side comparison chart!
“I say the same thing to all of them — we knew this was going to be a tough race, and we knew that once Mitt Romney locked up the nomination, Republicans would get behind him and this race would be tight, just like we always knew it would be.”
http://thehill.com/video/campaign/230765-messina-reassures-obama-supporters-says-campaign-knew-race-would-be-tight
Check the vid at post #135
Goodnight TODvillagers.
BTW anyone else reading or has read The Paris Wife? I just started it, liking it so far.
hi cj
i liked the beginning, but i think it got bogged down about half way through. or maybe i just didn’t like the direction the plot was taking. of course, it’s adhering to history, so there’s no way to slap a happy transformative finale on the thing!

By Steve Benen
————————–

Good read:
People, do we really want to use this site as a repository for our complaints about the media ? If it turns into a dumping ground of negativity it doesn’t help anybody, least of all our President or ourselves.
OK—-Cramer was sure optimistic about the economy. He said all indicators are very positive. He said one disappointing jobs report and everyone goes off the rails, but all aspects of economy look strong. He was hyper-optimistic.
If we don’t know what’s going on, we can’t push back on their lies on social medias…..
@BillR- Exactly my sentiments.
Tweety’s brilliant idea for PBO is that he should have a BIG JOBS PLAN—-wonder why Obama hasn’t thought of that
and THEN he is to go to Congress and say “Get in there and pass this bill right now!—- you’re staying in session ALL NIGHT if that’s what it takes!—–wonder why Obama hasn’t thought of that—-it would be SO EASY!
Yeah…back in the 60′s
Sales numbers for Mrs. Obama’s book, American Grown:
http://obamafoodorama.blogspot.com/2012/06/american-grown-book-sales-report.html
So what’s the story with the May fundraising numbers? Did the campaign release them? or it is just some silly about his $200 donors being down?
Around the 17th of the month!
