CHRONICLING MITT’S MENDACITY “VOLUME 21″ (There is something seriously wrong with this man.)
Chronicling Mitt’s Mendacity, Vol. XXI
By Steve Benen
Campaigning in St. Louis yesterday, Mitt Romney, reading from his teleprompter, told supporters he would never be a “president of doubt and deception.”
You could almost hear irony weeping. After all, as Kevin Drum explained, “I expect political candidates to bend the truth a fair amount…. But Romney’s willingness to flat-out lie is singular.”
Or as Rachel explained just last night, “Mr. Romney gets caught saying things that are factually wrong, and the thing that is different about him is that does not mind; he doesn’t fix it; he doesn’t even try to worm out of it. He doesn’t appear to feel any shame about it at all — and he’s happy to keep telling the lie once he knows it is a lie.”

THE PRIVATE SECTOR IS “DOING FINE”, WE ARE SEEING WEAKNESS IN STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT.
The media pouncing on this fact and making it an issue is just as dishonest as Mitt Romney making stuff up.
June 08, 2012 12:19 pm ET by Todd Gregory
BuzzFeed is stripping comments by President Obama at today’s press conference out of context and calling that distortion of what Obama said “a gift to Republicans.”
Obama addressed reporters on the economy on Friday and said, “The truth of the matter is that, as I’ve said, we’ve created 4.3 million jobs over the last 27 months, over 800,000 just this year alone. The private sector is doing fine. Where we’re seeing weaknesses in our economy have to do with state and local government.”
The media will pounce on anything the President say, but will not have a word to say about Mitt Romney lying. Any doubt who’s the media is working for?
The media wrote off Obama in 2007-2008. They never saw him winning and always had something bad to say about him and his chances.
We didn’t listen then, why should we now?
Romney’s “Unethical Stench”
PM Carpenter has reached his limit:
There no longer exists any doubt that Mitt Romney intends to win the White House by conducting the most dishonest, unscrupulous and reprehensible campaign ever devised, in mere whimsy. The unethical stench of this man is not only breathtaking, it’s meteoric. I have never seen anything like it, never heard anything like it, never imagined anything like it.
Romney will run against a fictional Obama, and Fox will provide the cover, and unless Obama is able to change the frame of this debate, the relentless propaganda will be potent. Yes, the level of deception is so great it’s breath-taking. But Romney, I’m increasingly inclined to believe, is a businessman all the way down. His ethics are about getting, as he put it, 50.1 percent of the vote in any state. He does not believe there are any ethical or principled reasons not to try and get to that 50.1 percent however he can. A businessman can compartmentalize core moral and political questions into marketing. The goal is 50.1 percent saturation.
If Our Country Was Michael Corleone
Thu Jun 7th, 2012 at 10:53:19 PM EST
It’s nice of Meteor Blades to remind us that John “The Walrus” Bolton is a top foreign policy adviser to the Mitt Romney campaign and that he is positively rooting for U.S. diplomacy with Iran to fail so that someone can bomb their nuclear facilities. It reminds me of the scene in Godfather 3 when Al Pacino’s character says, “Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.” The idea there was that Michael Corleone was trying to turn his vast criminal enterprise into a law-abiding legitimate business conglomerate. And then he discovered that he needed to go all gangsta on some people. That’s roughly how I feel about how Obama has been doing the job of cleaning up after Bush. And that’s how I’ll feel if Obama’s job is interrupted so that Romney can immerse us in another decade or more of war in the Middle East.
These punk bitch ass Republicans are always clamoring about bombing Iran and when they get into Office they never do. Reagan, Poppa and Baby Bush didn’t bomb Iran when they had the chance, and what did they do? They didn’t do a goddamn thing.
This crowd seems crazier than anything we’ve seem before. They’re chomping at the bit.
I agree with you, theo. I thought St. Ronnie was extreme but this current crop of the GOP is totally insane. I think they found a perfect presidential candidate who will do whatever they tell him because he badly wants to be President. In my humble opinion, Mitt Romney would be worse than George W. Bush. Any who thinks otherwise is deluded.
I absolutely agree with that. I now agree with those posters that say “miss me yet” and have Bush’s picture – compared to Mitt, I’d rather have Bush. Mitt doesn’t compare to President Obama at all.
This is about the most succinct description of Mitt Romney I have seen since his first dishonest ad putting John McCain’s words in President Obama’s mouth.
Unrelenting treason ….

President Obama was speaking about the economy of the private sector relative to the public sector. Too much nuance for the press.— meta (@metaquest) June 08, 2012
By JENNIFER EPSTEIN | 6/8/12 3:05 PM EDT
It didn’t take long for President Obama to step in with some damage control after saying Friday morning that the private sector is “doing fine.”
It’s “absolutely clear” that the economy not fine, he said in a brief appearance before cameras in the Oval Office following a meeting with Phillippine President Benigno Aquino.
Maybe someone should tell Jennifer Epstein that President Obama didn’t have a need to do damage control, the private sector IS doing fine, but the public sector isn’t.
This is another non-issue about which the MSM is letting Willard get a free pass. The “private sector” and the “economy” are two different things.
I think we know the media is bought and paid for by the Koch brothers and all the GOP friends
Political coverage of President Obama can be odd sometimes. We’ve reached the point at which media professionals no longer evaluate the president’s comments at a press conference, for example, but rather evaluate how the comments might be used against him later.
What matters isn’t the substance, then, but whether the substance has the potential to be wrenched from context in future attack ads.
Exactly. It gives them cheap air time for gasbags like Rendell, Fineman, and others to pontificate.
because the media is completely self-absorbed, they are increasingly irrelevant. they’re more interested in their competing coverage than in informing the public, or representing the truth, much less upholding the ancient traditions of a free press. next step: they have no audience.

Hope you see this and for future purposes, you can look through the archives that is on the right handside to find any thread that you want. I think you can go by month and year and maybe even search the title. Personally, I just kept hitting previous post and it took me to it.
The Republican Party is so hell bent on destroying America, that in order to harm President Obama the Republican Party is even putting white people in harm’s way.
Yep Romney just said we don’t need more cops, firefighters or teachers most of whom are white. I bet though that they will still vote for Romney; at least the cops and firefighter will.
Don, I think it is a class thing now. Their next objective is the pubic school system which will take the country down long term.
Bill, you might be right, but I really struggle with it. After I wrote my comment I thought about it, I want to believe it’s a class thing, but some of the horrible the things they say about President Obama go far beyond it being a class thing, It just might be both.
The lower class whites resent seeing a more educated, intelligent, graceful, black man with a wonderful family as the most important person in the world. They let their hate, jealousy, and resentment overcome their self interest, and the Republican party willingly uses them for everything they can.
so true, and i say that as a poor white person. to my parent’s credit, i had a good education, though, so i can read and listen, and vote dem!
for generations they have clung to WHITENESS against their own economic self-interests
I hope people see this
I hope all those police, firefighters, etc. who have been flirting with the idea of voting for Romney because he “knows business” and “will recover the economy” will take a minute to let this sink in. For once, Romney’s been quite honest here. He doesn’t care about the middle class, and for him, the presidency will be all about killing the government and stuffing money into the pockets of the few. The danger to the economy will be ignored, just like he so callously states that communities don’t need more safety workers – just as we’re in the middle of hurricane season and launching into wildfire season. I hope this gives people something to think about.
How much more is Mitt Romney going to have to say before people realize he don’t give a dam about the working class poor or middle class.
No Mitt and Ann doesn’t need more firemen and policemen, they can afford to hire their own, but what about people like us, the everyday average folks, the poor and middle class..
and they would care about you because………..?
President George W. Bush was the first MBA president and we all know how that turned out. Now Mitt Romney wants us to believe his MBA and his time at Bain qualifies him for the Oval Office. Basically, he will do to the country what he did to those companies. That’s his mindset. Just listen to what he said today about not needing more firemen and more policemen. It’s chilling. And no one should be surprised that the CEO of Bain said “Let Detroit Go Bankrupt”. That sounds just like something a vulture capitalists would say.

So Congress is close down for a week, Shouldn’t Congress be working their tail off to get this economy stronger?
Nope. Only Obama is supposed to be working.
Tweety’s back IN again? He said this while waiting for PBO to speak this morning:
“This is the same dunce cap leadership as W! The same dunce cap leadership and policy as W! Deregulation, tax cuts… doing the same thing that got us there [a bad economy]! Romney thinks W was smart! Jesus!!“
Was Tweety talking about Romney? He better have been talking about Romney…
Yes, he was talking about Romney:)
He went on a rant:)
More whiplash from Tweety. His political analysis is all over the place. He makes me dizzy.
I thought he was dippy again just now—–wouldn’t let Joan Walsh make the case that everyone but those with partisan blinders on knew what Obama meant about the private sector doing fine——(corps are making record profits by the way)—–but Tweet didn’t want to hear that. He was hell bent on saying it was a big blunder.
Mitt Romney: We don’t need more cops, firefighters or teachers
By Greg Sargent
This time, however, Romney deserves points for honesty: He has forthrightly declared that the class of government workers holding back other Americans does include cops, firefighters and teachers. And in so doing, he has singlehandedly reframed the debate from one over despised government bureaucrats to one over whether we should hire more cops, firefighters and teachers to get the economy going. This is a debate the White House will be happy to have.
UPDATE: The Obama campaign is now circulating video:
The Obama campaign responds:
In Iowa today, Mitt Romney shockingly promised to cut jobs for firefighters, police, and teachers if elected. As President Obama urges Congress to pass his plan to put cops, firefighters, teachers, and construction workers back to work — after they left as many as 1 million jobs from his plan on the table — Mitt Romney has decided we need less jobs for middle class Americans, not more. That’s the message he received this week.
Mitt Romney Criticizes President Obama For Wanting To Hire More Police, Firemen and Teachers
Wow, only Liard would think we don’t need more firefighters, teachers & policemen. Did he have any policemen nearby to protect his wrinkled ass?
Then exact quotye is “He wants another stimulus, he wants to hire more government workers. He says we need more fireman, more policemen, more teachers. Did he not get the message of Wisconsin? The American people did. It’s time for us to cut back on government and help the American people.”
Apparently he doesn’t believe that firemen, policemen and teachers are American people nor that the people they serve are American people.
Bobfr, I know you can somehow put that in a tweet.
Yes, japa, have done so and sent to many, including ….

What an F***ing idiot. Wow. I swear, God looooooooooooves my President. Romney, GOP, FOX, Rove, Trump, Repug Millionaires and Billionaires are the ‘Gift that keeps on Giving’. MSM will be the last to recognize this path to ultimate destruction. MSM is so focused on showing President Obama’s ‘weakness’, they are totally missing the biggest story in the history of modern politics.
Maybe it’s because HE’S STILL GOT THOSE POLICEMAN CLOTHES IN HIS CLOSET! HE’LL TAKE CARE OF THE ENTIRE POLICING OF THE COUNTRY ALL BY HIMSELF! What a total badass!
And sorry, I sure hope a welder doesn’t have an “accident” at the beach house…..
simply breathtaking–he twisted talking points into an applause line, with no internal logic to the statement whatsoever!
and by the way, mint: teachers, firefighters, and police are american people! and what’s more, they actually help the american people! that’s what government workers do, that’s what they’re for.
This is what happens when your knee jerk reaction is always to be against anything that President Obama is for.
i love it when pbo gets them to slap themselves!
It’s not only hire more but just even get those teachers, firefighters, and cops given pink slips their jobs back.
Michael Tomasky on Mitt Romney’s Economic Failure in Massachusetts
by Michael Tomasky May 29, 2012 4:00 AM EDT
Mitt Romney loves to attack Barack Obama’s record of job creation as president. Too bad Mitt’s record as Massachusetts governor pales in comparison.
Thank you, Ben!
Quote from this post:

ROMNEY SAYS REMEMBER WISCONSIN, WE DON’T NEED MORE GOVERNMENT WORKERS
Romney calls for fewer cops, firefighters, and teachers
I’ll make this really easy: Dear Mr. Romney, please explain why America will be better off when more teachers, cops, and firefighters are unemployed.
As of this afternoon, Romney believe he can “help the American people” by making sure that some of those firefighters are laid off.
I can’t stress the importance of this enough, because it underscores so much of what the 2012 presidential campaign is all about. President Obama’s American Jobs Act intended to protect or create 400,000 jobs for school teachers, police officers, and firefighters. A CNN poll taken at the time found that 75% of the public — and 63% of self-identified Republicans — endorsed this jobs proposal.
Romney isn’t just against these jobs; he’s bragging about his opposition, assuming this line is popular.
Elections have been fought over less.
If Mitt wins….our 911 calls will go to a phone bank in India or Malaysia…
or they’ll just de-fund the 911 apparatus entirely.
Hey! Thanks again, Republicans!
My apologies if someone has posted this previously:
U.S. debt load falling at fastest pace since 1950s
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) — Everyone knows America has too much debt. What they don’t know is that things are getting better, not worse.
Little by little, our economy is reducing its debt burden, slowly repairing the damage caused by 10, 20 or 30 years of excess.
If you want to know why economic growth has been so tepid, here’s your answer. Four years after the storm hit, the economy is still deleveraging. And it’s very hard for any economy to grow when everyone is focused on increasing their savings.
Total domestic — public and private — debt as a share of the economy has declined for 12 quarters in a row after surging over the previous decade.
Hi stranger!!! Yes, this was a good one! One that should be all over the place/ replace the lie with these facts.
Df, This country greatest threat is the mainstream media. Unfortunately most Americans still rely on the ms media for information. Thank God for new technology and social media. Otherwise we would be in much deeper trouble.
I have been watching and listening with amazement as Mitt-The-Liar keeps saying our ‘deficit’ is increasing, when in fact, President Obama has decreased the deficit. Perhaps Mr. L. doesn’t know the difference between ‘debt’ and ‘deficit’, or he thinks we don’t.
Like everything our President does, plans proceed carefully, steadily and in a positive direction. He is building a solid base. It saddens me that more people, especially Democrats, don’t give him credit for his fantastic governance. There are none so blind, as those who refuse to see.
Watching tweety and his sidekicks…criticize the President’s…Jobs bill saying that it is not big enough…saying that he should really come out with a BIG Jobs bill…..instead of calling out the Repubs to pass the President’s JOBS bill….
The American Jobs Act WAS a big jobs bill, and what happened?
Exactly. All these so called ‘supporters, what the fuck did they do to get the AJA passed ? The same thing with the student loan rise. How many times did he urge people to contact their congress critters ? How many people did ? Why this man has to do all the heavy lifting while the others stand their whining/bitching/throwing stones from the sidelines?
Another thing that has added to the problems of the people influencing today’s Congress and Senate is that political boundaries have been drawn in states where the people living in those areas are mainly from the same party. That means a Democrat calling a Republican legislator won’t get far as they are not worried about re-election. They are virtually guaranteed to be re-elected. So our influence has dwindled.
They’re right. Everyone know that this congress won’t pass anything. This is just theatre now, and that’s exactly why I think PBO should come out with a prime time address and throw out a huge FDR style jobs plan. Otherwise, we’re at the mercy of the media to inform the voters, and the media is probably our biggest enemy.
Agreed. I said a few weeks back that he needs to have a prime time address….command the message and make it so that all the channels have to carry it. Agree, agree, agree!
agree! the ‘news’ media have lost all credibility–pbo has to address the public directly.
Sounds more like ‘use the big pulpit’ meme from the emogprogs, bwd. He did AJA, cried hoarse to people to ask their congress critters to pass it. And what the fuck the people do ? Fucking zilch. Enough with he should do this, he should do that.
I am so sick of these armchair campaign managers who know better than David Plouffe and David Axelrod. Where has Tweety been? The roll out of the American Jobs Act was flawless. The supporting documentation was amazing. President Obama took the AJA on the road. The American people supported the AJA. The Republicans obstructed. So now PBO should introduce yet another jobs bill – only a bigger one (to suit Tweety’s requirements) for the Republicans to obstruct. Where is the logic in that?? The point is that there are things that could be done right now but the Republicans won’t allow it. Why isn’t he hammering the Republican obstruction? There’s just so much PBO can do with executive orders.
Spot on LH.
Excellent comment, Ladyhawke. I don’t know why people are in panic mode. Introducing a so called “FDR like jobs bill” may be good theater but it would do absolutely nothing to reduce unemployment or break down Republican intransigence. By the way, the media would join Republicans to declare such a move by the president to be political desperation. President Obama introduced a major jobs bill last September. Republicans rejected it. So he already has the American Jobs Bill to use against Republicans as he ably did today in the press conference. That’s why the media picked on the line about private sector jobs. They had to distract the American people from the pointed remarks of the President which clearly focused on Congress’s failure to pass the American Jobs Bill he submitted last September.
ATTENTION BOBFR: Please work your magic with this one. This is just criminal. Fox gives McConnell cover.
Fox Lets Mitch McConnell Off The Hook For Blocking Jobs Bill
Fox News covered up GOP obstructionism on jobs creation, letting Senator Mitch McConnell falsely claim that Congress has passed “most” of President Obama’s jobs bill.
n pressing Congress to pass the jobs bill, Obama specifically noted: “If Congress had passed it in full, we’d be on track to have a million more Americans working this year. The unemployment rate would be lower. Our economy would be stronger.” Fox turned to Mitch McConnell, the top Senate Republican, to respond, allowing McConnell to argue, “we passed most of what he asked us to pass last fall, and some of the rest of it is about to pass.”
Fox viewers were left with the impression that that filibuster never happened.

yep, that’s the end result of demonizing government.
Mia-Milka Henderson is either clueless or more interested in presenting the Washington Post anti-PBO position than she is in analyzing anything. She claims PBO had a horrible week. It was the press that had one of the worst weeks it has had in a long time.
I’ve never been impressed with her political analysis.
She always bends over backwards, twists herself in a knot, to come up with some negative slant on President Obama. She’s not believable, trustworthy.
I agree Mia Milika goes out her way to hold up Romney. She thinks she objective but she is the exact opposite.
This, Ladyhawke. It almost appear that Mia attemps to report negatively so that she won’t be accused of saying positive about our AA president. Joy Reid wrap circles around her wirh her reporting. She is a good reporter.
Joy Ann Reid is just terrific. I am always glad to see her on a panel. Her analysis always spot on. My other favorite is Krystal Ball. She’s great.
This is just a continuation of the same tiresome “bad news for Obama” meme that the MSM seems to be pathologically obsessed with. The day after Obama wins the election, they will say he had an “ugly” night. They will have NOTHING to say about loser Willard.
According to Mia-Mika Henderson the President had a horrible week, her opinion. But I remember FLOTUS saying that they turn off the tv and don’t listen to all this cable chatter, and to keep your sanity you have to do that sometimes. Because they are full of alot of bull sh*t.
Yup, it’s all noisy bs and I am sad to see TOD’ers falling for it.
You know, Anniebella, I am with FLOTUS! I refuse to listen to the “cable chatter,” though I still get angry about what’s written in the dying newspapers. In my humble opinion, the MSM are against the President. That’s the reality we have to live with. Our task is to find ways of neutralizing the MSM. Obviously, TOD is one of those ways. Tweeting, by all the fabulous people here, is another. But the most important step we can take to make the MSM irrelevant is to volunteer to organize and educate people on the ground. I plan to spend this summer volunteering for OFA.
If Mitt thinks police are not needed….maybe he should give up his Secret Service protection.

Well, I think maybe “real ‘mericans might be getting a sneak peek about the REAL Mitt Romney…and they don’t like it much. Little People!!
Across the street, at Main Street Café, owner Dianne Bauer said she too felt disrespected – not by Elsey, but Romney himself.
Romney held a roundtable discussion at the restaurant prior to his talk in the park. His staff and security ushered Bauer and her husband Earl to a back portion of the restaurant and they were unable to meet the former Massachusetts governor, Dianne Bauer said.
The restaurant has hosted other candidates, including Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who introduced himself.
“The Secret Service said they would ask to make sure we got to be introduced and get a picture,” Bauer said. “I don’t care as much about the picture but at least let me meet the guy who I tore my place up for.”
I can’t believe that they would put the owner in a corner. PBO would have ask for the owner and would have shaken hands with everyone in that restaurant, whether they supported him or not. I think having secret service agents have empowered Robney to think that he is lready the president.
kinda like the police uniform–he has the black limo, the secret service, the navy blue suit—hey, he must be the president! with all we know about the way he thinks and behaves, he would truly be a frightening specter if given actual power.
Will Bauer vote for Willard in NOV after this disrespect? I hope not.
willard to the owner of the restaurant that hosted him – Go sit in a corner. Contrast this with Obama's visits.

// International Association of FireFighters Endorses Obama/Biden for Re-Election
June 8, 2012 – This week, the IAFF Executive Board considered the records and positions of the candidates competing for the most powerful elected position in the world and unanimously concluded that the choice of the next president of the United States is clear because of the stark contrasts between the candidates. The IAFF has endorsed President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden.
On one hand, the current, sitting president and vice president have consistently shown their commitment with critical and increasing funding for programs that have kept thousands of fire fighters and paramedics on the job, and provided the equipment they need to protect their communities during some of the toughest economic times our country and jurisdictions across the United States have ever experienced.
On the other hand, Mitt Romney, as governor of Massachusetts, repeatedly attempted to cut local aid to communities, jeopardizing public safety. He also attempted to strip away the collective bargaining rights of fire fighters in the state and has repeatedly stated that he opposes and would zero-out the federal grant programs that provide critical funding to communities to keep fire fighters working and for life-saving equipment and apparatus. //
Now am waiting for the police officers to endorse my President. ::smile:

I just heard John Nichols rehash the Wi. recall while driving home, saying there were important lessons to be learned there. First there was no Dem money there early and Walker owned the airwaves, giving a simple, reasonable sounding message over and over, that the recall was an inapporopriate response to his actions, that it should only be used for official misconduct and gave whatever (fake) reasons he had for the actions he took. There was no Dem response for a long time, Dems unprepared. Lesson —-get in early and be simple and clear and persistent with your message. He said the money imbalance is a problem and it will likely be the same in upcoming elections, including the presidential. He said the cities in Wi. performed as expected, some even higher than expected, but it is not enough to rely only on the cities any longer——the Repubs have improved their ground game also. He said all the rural areas were left untouched by Dems and many Dem areas —-those that voted for Obama—-voted for Walker—–his forces were on the ground there. Lesson—-need to spread out everywhere, no stone unturned, no area ignored. It’s going to take a big effort by everyone. Smarter, bigger.
And I’ll just share this that I heard from Bernie Sanders earlier—–he can be very aggravating, that’s for sure. But he said the majority of the American people have NO IDEA what awaits them if the Repubs took over this country. It would be an America unrecognizable. All the decencies and safeguards and so many things we’ve taken for granted for years would be gone. It’s a frightening prospect.
I have to agree with Bernie on that. As far as the money…..http://www.salon.com/2012/06/07/don%E2%80%99t_be_scared_of_mitt%E2%80%99s_money/singleton/
might be questionable. We have to be efficient and smart. Work harder and smarter…
Progressives need to start hammering home what the country will look like with republican policies. We have to stop following their lead, by always reacting, and start being pro-active with our own message. Let them react for a change. That’s why I love it when PBO has press conferences. The GOP and its minions scramble like rats and cockroaches.
What this entire thing boils down to, is that Republicans think that “public” sector employees/jobs are TAKERS…and not worthy of help and efforts. PRIVATE sector jobs, well…..now THOSE are SPECIAL! Banks, investment banks, corporations, big pharma, big oil….THEY”RE IMPORTANT! Simple as that…and they call us elitist?
This is a winning message with a segment of the population, unfortunately. It’s immigrants who take their jobs and the evil public sector.
So I say to these whackjobs: shovel your own highway in the winter. Buy lots of tests so you can make sure your food is safe. And by all means, stock up on hoses to put out a fire.
I live in Chicago, and trust me the ‘savings’ will line the pockets of the aldermen and are not going into building a factory or opening a neighborhood hardware store.
The good news: Romney probably has this segment of our electorate anyway. It can be a danger in the Rust Belt swing states but I think PBO can crush that meme.
Like he did today.
A teacher builds lives, a policeman protects lives, and a fireman saves lives.
Mitt ruins lives of middle class workers.
Can I tweet this Linda? :)
Please do. :-)

that’s beautiful, hopefruit and linda!
Thanks….you improved it . I hope it goes viral.
I am totally stealing this.
All credits belong to Linda – thanks Zekke for spreading :)
No….No.. you improved on it……we are a team !!!!!!!!!!!!
:) :) :) Yes indeed we are a team!
this is very good and right on point. please consider tweeting it to members PBO’s communication team. I suspect they will love it
Linda, I stole this and tried to give you credit but was too many characters for twitter.
I don’t mind….we are all one team here.
THAT WE ARE. THANKS
very nice! I wish you could foward this to Team Obama in Chicago
Linda, In addition, teachers, policemen/women, firefighters and other public employees: buy groceries, buy/rent homes, buy cars and gas, pay taxes, have kids serving their country in the military and put their money in private banks. Somebody should ask Romney if he is ready to do without his Secret Service employees. After all, they too are public employees. Besides, why is Romney running for President? The President of the United States is the highest public employee. The President is not a CEO, as Romney thinks. His salary, house, and all the amenities are paid by the public.
Romney's stench andrewsullivan.thedailybeast.com/2012/06/romney… || "There is something increasingly chilling about this shape-shifter, isn't there?" This. #Forward #p2— Bill Talley (@Political_Bill) June 08, 2012
How about: “Romney thinks that FF, police, teachers hold Americans back.PBO thinks they move us forward and are valued.
chilling, stench, shape-shifter—that about sums up the repug candidate.
Sargent does a great job with this Romney “gaffe” (this boomerang is going to come right back to him!)
Or, to put it another way: #WedgeFail!
Obama campaign is circulating video of Romney saying that…and this message:
In Iowa today, Mitt Romney shockingly promised to cut jobs for firefighters, police, and teachers if elected. As President Obama urges Congress to pass his plan to put cops, firefighters, teachers, and construction workers back to work — after they left as many as 1 million jobs from his plan on the table — Mitt Romney has decided we need less jobs for middle class Americans, not more. That’s the message he received this week.
Told you that boomerang was coming!!
BuzzFeed: Romney Opposes Obama's Plan To Hire More Police Officers, Firefighters, blows his momentum in Iowa: bit.ly/LBu26b— Brad Woodhouse (@woodhouseb) June 08, 2012
Well helllllooooo TODs!!!!! A great 88 degree getting up day here in Chi-town. No political shows today until I happened upon Tweety’s bad twin in full display. But that’s Tweety for you. I did catch some of PBO this morning (was is suit too big to you?). I really didn’t know he was scheduled to speak today. That’s what I get for not checking in on TOD as I should have yesterday. I think he handled the press very well, and it’s only those who enjoy head explosions that don’t get it. But hey, it’s a rough job and somebody has to do it.
Political take today is: PBO is in charge and he knows it and shows it. All aboard the O train!!!
Good Friday Evening, Chips and fellow TODobots!
Oh geez. Monsignor somebody led a protest of “several hundred” Catholics, and a few other straysm at our county govt. bldg today—–for “religious freedom”, They were protesting the government mandated insurance coverage for contraception and said that violates their freedoms and consciences. This was one of supposedly many similar protests planned across the country. I guess no Catholics want or use contraception. What a joke.
All tea bagging far righties, mostly male and Probably Evangelicals!
If they don’t want contraception, they’re free to skip it. Others who do have the right of choice.
Great comment about the Romney comment on the FF, police, etc: from Plumline
3:39 PM MST
A substantial number of Americans really do not make the connection between government costs and benefits. They have heard the Republicans’ complain so much about costs they have gone tone deaf regarding what their tax money buys.
I wish that PBO would have that national conversation and talk about ALL these things…
More boomeranging going on…this time, IN FLORIDA!!!
IN WAKE OF VOTER PURGE, RICK SCOTT’S APPROVAL RATING DROPS TO 31% | Florida Gov. Rick Scott’s continued push to remove hundreds of eligible voters is unpopular with both Democrat and Republican voters, according to Public Policy Polling. Just 31 percent approve of Scott’s performance and 56 percent disapprove. Support has dropped off among Republicans as well, which reflects the bipartisan opposition to his voter suppression efforts, including both Republican and Democrat local election officials. The voter purge especially targets minority voters, and more Hispanics (14 percent) and African-Americans (8 percent) said they knew someone who was removed from the voter rolls.
Should be LOWER!
Chris Christie got in on that WIllard action, too! Great…it’s like BOWLING!
Today, New Jersey Gov. and Mitt Romney campaign surrogate Chris Christie (R) said that those losses meant the country was moving in “the right direction,” and Romney himself backed that statement up later, criticizing President Obama for calling for the hiring of more teachers, firefighters, and police officers, the Washington Post’s Greg Sargent reports. From CNN’s report of the Romney event:
Romney said of Obama, “he wants another stimulus, he wants to hire more government workers. He says we need more fireman, more policeman, more teachers. Did he not get the message of Wisconsin? The American people did. It’s time for us to cut back on government and help the American people.”
Amazing! Now the firefighters, cops and teachers are not part of the American people. I say take away all their publicly paid security people and see how they cop. But then again, what is wrong with the American people that they would buy this nonsense.
BREAKING: Attorney General Holder appoints two prosecutors to oversee leak probes— The Associated Press (@AP) June 08, 2012
That’s a good thing IMO.
It just makes me nervous..of who it may be……
I don’t believe it’s anyone in the Obama WH. I am more likely to think it’s a Repub – they seemed a little too gung ho about it.
I actually think this is a good thing.
Like POTUS said that idea that his admin would puposely leak info as some way to make POTUS look more IDK manly or whatever, as that douche McCain and that closeted Lindsey Graham have been implying over at Faux News, is offensive.
But still, Somebody high up or some aide told that reporter somethings that came close to the line of being classified. Personally, I’d put my money on a GOP aide or an aide with ties to GOP or even some former Clintonistas who still holds a hardon for HRC and the big dog.
Could have been John McCain who leak the info, that’s what happen when you have a senile old fool like McCain.
Who are still mad about losing to President Obama in 20008.
When pressed about this at the morning presser, PBO was insistent about the consequences but vague when asked about whether there is a current investigation. He likely knew Holder was about to make his own announcement.
It’s a good move to get to the bottom of it. Those accountable should be prosecuted.
IT’S HORRIFYING TO THINK PETE HOEKSTRA WAS ON THE HOUSE INTELLIGENCE COMMITTEE
Hoekstra leads with his chin
The problem, of course, is that Hoekstra is probably the single worst person in the country to talk about leaks that compromise national security.
He’d probably prefer to forget, but when Hoekstra was in Congress, he was the ranking member on the House Intelligence Committee. In one especially memorable incident, he confirmed to the Washington Post, on the record, that Nidal Malik Hasan had exchanged emails with Anwar al-Awlaki. As Rachel reported at the time, it was a problematic revelation — that federal officials had kept secret for a reason.
Marc Ambinder followed up today with senior intelligence officials who said “there are concerns” about Hoekstra’s loose lips. The Republican lawmaker, who was routinely briefed on some of the nation’s most sensitive national security secrets, apparently tipped a radical cleric to surveillance efforts and inadvertently confirmed “a sensitive capability that the N.S.A. regularly employs to collect intelligence.”
I found this section of President Obama’s response especially chilling….
We’re dealing with issues that can touch on the safety and security of the American people, our families, or our military personnel, or our allies. And so we don’t play with that. And it is a source of consistent frustration, not just for my administration but for previous administrations, when this stuff happens. (((((((And we will continue to let everybody know in government, or after they leave government, that they have certain obligations that they should carry out.)))))))
But as I think has been indicated from these articles, whether or not the information they’ve received is true, the writers of these articles have all stated unequivocally that ((((((they didn’t come from this White House. And that’s not how we operate.))))))
Drill baby drill….oh….http://livewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/entries/us-oil-output-tops-six-million-barrels-in
this should shut them up!
The U.S. produced over six million barrels of oil a day in the first quarter of 2012, the first time since 1998, according to the federal Energy Information Administration
Hah, Hah!!!! Rev Al just said, ‘the old saying in Washington is if you want a friend, get a dog…….however, in Willard’s case, the dogs know better.’ that’s as funny as when he said on Moanin. Joke one morning, ‘hunting rabbits ain’t fun, when the rabbit has the gun’. I luv Rev Al, as much as he loves blueberry pie.
‘He’s Dead to Us’: White House Reportedly Freezes Out Mayor Cory Booker After Obama Comments http://www.theblaze.com/stories/ready-hes-dead-to-us-white-house-reportedly-ices-mayor-cory-booker-after-obama-comments/ via @theblaze
something tells me that “the WH” did not use those words – knowing it will be qouted back
Count me as one who doubts the WH said “he’s dead to us”…that being said, I totally believe that the WH is too through with Booker until the election and/or until he shows the right amount of chagrin for knee-capping the POTUS message. The whole few weeks culminating in the WI defeat of Barrett all started with Booker’s BS and ever since the media has been in a Obama’s worse week mood.
At the very least, if Booker had ANY chance of being the keynote speaker at the convention ala PBO, then that ship sailed soon as the words left his mouth on MTP.
That is Glenn Beck’s site….
yuck. why would we read his lies?
What proof do the people making this comment about what the White House suppose to have said to Cory Booker? Not worth the time of day to me.
well, since the response is that this is glen beck’s site then that says it all – trying to create more division among PBO and dems
This is another of the media’s attempt to divide people. The President spoke clearly about his respect for Mayor Booker. I am just sick and tired of unsourced reports. I wish this kind of garbage was not linked on this fabulous blog.
I don’t believe that this is the White House sentiments. If President Obama did not alienate Joe Lieberman, why would they do so with Cory Booker who is a Democrat. I think they might feed him out of a long handle spoon. After reading a few of the comments of the posters, I surmised that the blaze would not be a good source.
gonna try and hang tonight…at least til MN est…hahaha…you guys seem like you are always having so much fun at night….
I am way too excited that True Blood will be returning on Sunday. I wonder why?
Anyone else looking forward to the new season?
I love when Dyson hosts. I guess Ed must be sick and needs a week off after that Wisconsin situation.
About to host the @edshow tonight. Looking forward. Plus I'll host the entire week beginning next Monday! Grateful to Ed for opportunity!— Michael Eric Dyson (@MichaelEDyson) June 08, 2012
I swear Ed will have a stroke or heart attack live on TV some day.
Gross lying and propanganda. Don’t believe a word of it. FORWARD!
At ~ 7:00 into the linked video Darcy Burner gives a very specific set of recommendations for how women can win the #WarOnWomen …
Not sure I’d take Darcy’s word for how to win *anything*.
New post everyone:
