‘mornin’ TD!
Good Morning…A good back to work day!
I don’t get these Republicans, aren’t teachers, policemen, fire fighters hard working real Americans who pay taxes and don’t hide their money in overseas accounts.
Aren’t teachers, policement and fire fighters, um… VOTERS?
Hey early birds! Hey, Chips!
Helloooooooooooo Pamela, hello everyone
Morning Chips dear… Seems both you and I need to find a way to tamp down the hours, but I sure don’t have the secret to HOW! You take good care of yourself, summer hasn’t even started yet!
Top of the morning to you Pamela and Chips!
And back to you, Dudette!
I REALLY hate the media right now. More so than in 2008. There is a coordinated attack on the president.
But I’m keeping in mind that they tried this in 2008 and it did not work.
Pressing on….
I was talking to my Mom about that, she thinks it’s because he was not supposed to win in 08, hence the God Awful coverage now! The powers that be, have certain candidates, and he was not one of Them.
Makes sense to Me.
I also think they wish to be certain to get a good portion of the Koch, Rove, Chamber of Commerce superpac advertising money.
bingo
Morning all.
There is a story about Jeb Bush saying that neither his father nor Ronald Reagan could fit into GOP today. Think the MSM will loop it like they tend to do whenever a Dem say something about PBO? Ha!!
http://www.buzzfeed.com/buzzfeedpolitics/jeb-bush-no-place-for-father-reagan-in-today39
not a chance
africatmes2, then it’s up to us to put the story out there as much as we can, some how some way. And stay after the media about being fair and balance. Tweet, email, call, write, whatever little bit we can do. If they hear from enough of them, specially those who watch their shows, they will get our message. I will email CNN and others and tell them what the article said and ask them why is it they don’t report it when some Republican says something negative about this Republican Party or Mitt Romney, but let some Democrat says something that disagree with the President and the media will play it over and over and over again . I will tell them all I am asking for is fair and balance reporting.
If they hear from enough of us is what I meant to say.
Exactly. I have tweeted it all morning. Greg Sargeant has tweeted about it.
Good Monday morning TOD. May this be the start of a great week for our President and all of us.
Why do some feel it was such a bad week for President Obama, just because the media, the so call know it all pundits said so?
I want every week to be a great week for the President, because like all of us we want him to be re-elect, but it is clear and have been for some time now that the media is anti-Obama.
I know ,right? If favorable coverage from MSM was the yardstick for a good week for him, PBO would’ve been curled up in a ball sucking his thumb long ago. We all know that’s definitely not the case.
He’s doing what he said he’d do… staying focused and working hard for all of us each and every day.
FORWARD!
I agree annie. It was NOT a bad week at all for the President. He is doing better than Romney with all the key groups, nationwide and in swing states. His OFA ground game is gaining momentum – people are fired up; He called out the GOP and their obstructionism and got the national conversation on the public sector job losses amidst a thriving private sector. He got an endorsement from the International firefighters Association and he had GREAT fundraising numbers (I don’t buy the GOP figures…).
In fact, it’s usually a sign that the President is doing well when the MSM becomes desperate and jumps on the slightest thing to make a big deal out to try to derail his momentum.
By meeting today with local tv anchors, once again our PBO is taking matters into his own hands! These people will be so impressed with the reality of what he is doing as President, and the shows will air locally, getting the facts out to the populace in a way that the major networks refuse to do. It I’ll get attention. Check. Way to go, Mr. President!
More people watch local news and PBO has really tapped into that market. The questions are better and the interviewers more courteous and respectful. I hope in a 2nd term they get rewarded by getting called on more or just as much as the mainstream.
Bingo!!! Far too many fall for the various anti-PBO memes the MSM create to help Mitt. They get upset and lose faith in Team Obama becasue some pundits are saying PBO’s supporters are upset and losing faith in Team Obama. Very circular logic. I don’t blame them though, propaganda is very effective. That is why I attempt to point out the spin and propaganda the MSM engages in because knowledge of their games will innoculate PBO’s supporters from the propaganda’s effects. All media personalities are bought and paid for. They are playing roles (some will be “supportive” of PBO just as a set up for some future “major disappointment” with PBO). I understand the frustration many of us feel with the MSM, but we must realize the game being played and understand that the MSM has an agenda. PBO and his team cannot say some magic words or employ a strategy that will make the MSM forget who signs their checks and who owns their respective media outlets. The MSM is not impartial and will not “play fair” when it comes to PBO. Piling on and blaming the victim only makes the MSM/GOP’s job that much easier.
THIS! and THIS!
Morning TODers
Hey good morning everybody! Phone banking like it’s the last thing I’m gonna do on earth to get people fired up and wanting to participate in our Day of Action coming up on the 16th. Have done it all weekend and we’re going to phonebank tonight too. I have a pretty fired up team.
Hey check this out! I was on an NTL panel yesterday answering questions to all of our amazing new summer fellows – I was really encouraged to find not only young people on board but older people as well participating in the fellow program. It’s going to be an AWESOME SUMMER!
Love this pic a4alice.
Young and old, black and white, male and female. A beautiful sight.
They look ready to go!
Thanks for all that you’re doing.
Obama/Biden 2012
Yes, that photo is what it’s all about and it’s all about the people inspired and helped by President Obama! That would be us!
Thanks for all of your efforts, a4alice!
Good morning, Chips and TODers!
Thanks guys! #PRESSON
Wonderful Alice! Freaking awesome!
Keep up the great work, alice. What a representative bunch.
Wonderful site! Now that’s a picture that reflects all Americans, Thanks Alice for the wonderful work you are doing.
Oh, the is great, A4Alice. I would love to be a part of an OFA group like that!
Lynn Sweet sticking up for Robney on Bill Press Show. Don’t worry, She is outnumbered and sounds like she is biased.
Sweet has ALWAYS been bias against the President. She’s the one who arranged for Rev Wright to speak at that Press conference.
Good morning all.
Good Morning Suzette!
New poll out this morning- 35% of Union members support Mitt.
The Hierarchy in the Unions need to do a better Job of communicating, within their Own Ranks.
Maybe they should educate their Own members?
Jovie, what was the percentage who supported John McCain? And it could be possible that there are people in the unions who don’t care for our black President or they are Republicans, are the poll could be wrong.Just thinking out loud.
Which means that 65% of unions support President Obama. That’s the number we should focus on.
The 35% of union members are probably primarily blue collar racist police officers and firefighters who voted Repub all their lives and may have even more of a reason to do so now that a Black man is President. Some of these bigots will continue to vote against their interests because losing their jobs, benefits, collective bargaining rights is less of a priority than getting the Black man out of THEIR “white” house.
HF, we think alike. Union members are a diverse group of people; some are racists, some single-issue voters who don’t like gays, some are life-long Rs. When 65 percent of any group is on your side, you’re doing well. All teachers won’t be voting for the president, even though Romney hates their guts and wants to fire them. There’s no accounting for people’s willingness to hurt themselves. But when the leadership is with you, so are the resources to put out ads and put feet to the ground. So this is NOT bad news.
Completely concur.
So true hopefruit2, and any time you can vote for someone who said you wasn’t a real American, I believe Mitt Romney said we don’t need more teachers, policemen, fire fighters. Beside we need to help real Americans. Well we know what those 35% main reason for voting for Mitt Romney is, he’s white.
Sure hope these 35% understand Myth will bring a quick and unhappy ending to their unions, if given a chance. Blinders on always block the Light from getting through!
Some people are just gluttons for punishment. You know, they desperatley want to be accepted by the very people who disparage them. The Republicans are kind of like “Mean Girls”–they put other people down so much and make them feel worthless that those very people feel like “losers” and become so demoralised that they yearn to be a part of the “winners.” Some people just love the very people who hate them. It’s weird, but it happens.
The labor giant SEIU is teaming up with the pro-Obama super PAC Priorities USA Action for a multi-million-dollar Spanish-language ad campaign assailing Mitt Romney.
The groups plan to commit $4 million to run TV and radio ads in Colorado, Nevada and Florida starting this week and continuing “throughout the summer,” a spokesperson for the group said.
While many Democrats have focused on Romney’s views on immigration as a way of driving a wedge between him and Latino voters, the Priorities USA/SEIU spots are aimed at Romney’s broader economic views. The spots show some of his most infamous gaffes – “I’m also unemployed,” e.g.” – to say he’s out of touch with working people.
“When you really are out of work, you are worried, and you don’t want to laugh or make fun of anybody,” one Latino voter says (in Spanish) in one of the spots. Reacting to Romney’s “I like being able to fire people” comment, another voter says: “I’d never support someone with that type of thinking.”
http://www.politico.com/politico44/2012/06/priorities-usa-seiu-launch-spanishlanguage-ad-125789.html
I hope they also focus on the way Romney will destroy education and make it harder for Latino children to learn. This is a family issue and Latino mothers and fathers want the best for their children, just like the rest of us. I met a woman with two children who is a registered Independent and she said to me: “I don’t know how anyone with children could vote for Romney.” Those are the kind of voices I’d like to see in ads.
You can tweet priorities USA!
Loving the video: “He is the President of the USA not the Pastor”
Gotta send that one to some folks.
Good morning Dudette. Just finish watching it also and I loved it.
Priorities USA is currently on air with 11 million dollars worth of ads.
Bill Burton is doing good.
Good morning Chips!!!!!! Good morning TOD brothers and sisters!!!! That was an awesome video of that sermon at the Baptist church.
The president is doing what he needs to do–go around the beltway media. When I look at our local media, I don’t see a lot of negative coverage of the president and this is an R majority county. The beltway media and cable pundits have been bought and are therefore useless. In 2008, our success came in one-on-one contact, talking to people face to face and on the telephone. I don’t remember anything but negativity about the president coming from the media. They were in bed with and in the pocket of John McCain–they loved his barbeques and catered to his doughnut preferences. While FB was a big deal then, twitter had not yet grown to anything like it is today, so we’ve expanded our ability to reach out and we have all learned to be savvier about our approach to people and much much smarter about what’s going on politically and economically. The campaign did not need to expend money on primaries, so the OFA forces have been steadily growing and expanding dramatically. We had divisions in our ranks in 2008, we don’t now. Let’s make the most of what we have.
Excellent! Thank you Jackie. Fired up! And Been Ready to Go!!!
Great comment.!
Fantastic assessment! FORWARD!
Snark has a lot of material this morning…Mark Knoeller is obsessed with the interviews the President will give today….”He didn’t adress this, he didn’t adress that, like the Wi recall”………….he’s so annoying
Mark Knoller is in full meltdown mode as he normally gets into whenever the President bypasses the MSM to get his message through the local media.
He’s hoping the President will say….”oh yes I heard their message loud and clear”…….haha, it had nothing to do with the President and his policies….most didn’t approve the recall process, that’s it.
They were obsessed with the President when he was a candidate and are still obsessed with him…..it’s so weird.
Could it be that maybe the local interviewers asked the questions they wanted to without consulting Knoeller?
Off topic: The President of the University of Virginia, Teresa Sullivan, was fired yesterday with no explanation after only two years on the job. She has co-authored a book with Elizabeth Warren on the decline of the middle class. Some think the current VA state administration of Governor “Vaginal Probe” McDonnell was behind it. If the teabagger evangelicals continue taking over state governments this is the sort of thing we can expect in the future.
Just WOW! This is so disgusting. I wouldn’t put anything past McDonnell. I’m just across the state in Maryland and the stuff I hear about McDonnell makes my skin crawl. I am so glad he’s term is almost up.
Off-topic for R&B fans: D’Angelo is BACK!

Man, I wish I was gonna be at the Essence Music Festival this year.
http://www.essence.com/festivals/2012/essence-music-festival/schedule/
If any TOD’ers are going, we’ll have to insist on full reports from you!
I am going, but not sure if or what concerts I will attend.
Have fun! If you happen to catch my fantasy husband D’Angelo, tell him I missed him.
A reader over at the Maddow blog has been keeping track of the votern purge in Florida.
couldn’t copy and paste, because this person has done a lot of research and left a lot of links:

UnitedHealthcare, the nation’s largest health insurer, will keep in place several key consumer provisions mandated by the 2010 health care law regardless of whether the statute survives Supreme Court review.
But they won’t keep the one for children with pre-existing illnesses because they are afraid if they are the only one to do that ….to many will want to switch their coverage over to them and they would be overwhelmed.

Good morning all! I see the MSM is still at it! Well, whatever, we move FORWARD!
NOW that is some kind of preaching there.. I might actually attend church to hear a sermon such as this… blew me away.
Hello TOD family, have a great day everyone.
You, as well! Good morning!
Although this is triggered by Jovie’s comment above about the polls showing 35% of union members supporting Romney, I am putting it in a separate entry because I think that the underlying meaning here is important. Although the following quote is from Kevin Drum, I got it from Balloon Juice:
“Take a look at past elections. In 2004, 38% of union members and 40% of voters in union households voted for George Bush. In 2008, 39% of union members and 38% of voters in union households voted for John McCain. In 2010, 37% of voters in union households nationwide voted for Republicans, and that’s also the share of the union vote that Walker got in Wisconsin that year.”
Note first of all, that 4% less are favoring Romney this year than have supported republicans in the past. But more importantly, we have to remember that there is no totally homogeneous group. 8-10% of AA’s will probably vote for Romney. A fair percentage of LGBT voters will vote for Romney. Probably close to 40% of women will vote for Romney.
We have to realize this and not get upset everytime a poll comes out showing X% are going to vote for Romney. A lot of union members are Republicans, many have racist views. Some union members may well not even want to be part of a union but feel forced into it. The key is to make sure that those that do support PBO get out and vote and continue to try to chip away at those who support Romney. It appears that some who may not have supported PBO in the past are coming around. Even a couple more percent moving from Romney to PBO will make a difference.
Exactly japa. But isn’t funny that TPM and the other outlets blare this as if its some kind of BFD? Good ol media…can’t get the excitement of 08, so they create one.
Right there! In 08 the ratings for everybody were way up. Now, they are falling.
Maybe they should change strategy, not be so imaginative?
I look at it as, maybe their is Room for improvement in that Group. Another 5% is plausible.
Same survey says 57% of union members support the president. Probably not gonna get much higher than that with the union guys for aforementioned reasons. Obviously the campaign should still continue to fight for their vote as much as they can but there’s just a certain number of them that will never support PBO.
Sounds like too many “Union Members” are Masochists. Sad for them.
Even those on our side…are not. Blaring headline over on TPM “Drugs and Alcohol not ruled out in Commerce Secr Hit and Run”
Just in “Commerce sec suffered seizure.”The sooner we realize that these people are here to make money by CREATING a false narrative, the sooner we will all be better. Controversy brings eyeballs…eyeballs bring revenue. EVERYONE is in it to make money.
By David Maraniss,
To say that President Obama loves basketball understates the role of the sport in his life. He has been devoted to the game for 40 years now, ever since the father he did not know and never saw again gave him his first ball during a brief Christmastime visit. Basketball is central to his self identity. It is global yet American-born, much like him. It is where he found a place of comfort, a family, a mode of expression, a connection from his past to his future. With foundation roots in the Kansas of his white forebears, basketball was also the city game, helping him find his way toward blackness, his introduction to an African American culture that was distant to him when he was young yet his by birthright .
http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/president-obamas-basketball-love-affair-has-roots-in-hawaii-high-school-team/2012/06/09/gJQApU2mQV_story.html
This. Imo it’s not so much 11 dimensional chess with PBO as it is basketball and in particular NBA. 4 quarters ebb and flow. Understand they’re going to make a run but keep cool and finish out the half strong. In the 3rd step up your game slowly start to take control. In the 4th quarter the money quarter step up and hit the money shots. Then close it out.
Speculative reports suggest that Wintour, 62, is a candidate to succeed Louis Susman, America’s representative in the UK, who is set to retire later this year. The formidable editor, who inspired The Devil Wears Prada, has been named a “top bundler” for Obama, having raised more than half a million dollars for his “Victory Fund.”

Top of the morning to all my O peeps! Another…… you guessed it…. getting up day in TODville! caught a bit of the Moanin’ show and to my shock and horror, Maark Halprin pushed back on the Joke for trying to make PBO’s ‘private sector is fine’ statement into to more than it is. He also pushed back on some airhead who was a guest. Ratner was also defending the statement. My shock was that Mark Halprin actually had something not entirely negative to say. The horror? If Mark is making sense to me, then I must be crazier than I thought.
My political take for today is: My neighbor has worked for a manufacturer for eons. They’ve been laying off workers for the last 2 years. He was very concerned that he’d get the ax, cause even with his seniority, he didn’t feel safe. Well, just this morning, he told me that his employer hired 5 people back permanently. These voters know that Mitt had nothing to do with it, and will actually set them back. We got this, it’s a GOTV phone call away.
Great to hear your neighbor’s good news, cookemom.
As for Halperin, I guess there are still small miracles to enjoy. Maybe he got some action last night or something.
Come to find out, Bryson suffered a seizure.
And yet, the MSM made it out to be something bad that the President did.
Not at all stunned at shoddy reporting.
I hope he is ok!
After watching the wonderful graduation speech from David McCullough jr. yesterday…..I turned on TeaNN this morning and they were reporting on him saying ” You are not special ” .
They put is all in one clip like he was saying it over and over with nothing in between and then said ” No parents complained ” and neither did the students ”
They are all pathetic.
From Sully.
The good news of the terrible news of the last couple of weeks is that there’s a lot more realism about the forces at work in this election. Incumbent presidents always have a tricky re-election campaign, because they have to balance a defense of their record with a set of proposals for the next term. Often, the mandate is vague – and you won’t find a better summary of the risks and opportunities involved than Ryan Lizza’s superb new piece in the New Yorker.

Karl Rove’s Super PAC Jumps To Conclusions, Launches Attack On Commerce Secretary Who Suffered From Seizure
In a tweet that has since been deleted, the group suggested that reports of Bryson’s car accidents involved alcohol use:
http://thinkprogress.org/?mobile=nc
How low will they go ?
So let me get this straight: TPM gets its headlines from Karl Rove?!?!? I distinctly heard the story this morning on Current TV and they specifically said that drugs and alcohol were NOT involved.
cnn got the story straight. I would think Sec Bryson won’t be driving alone anymore. Poor thing..I’m glad no one was hurt.
Any one see the Chicago Tribune’s GOPer John Kass’ recent love affair with FLOTUS? He has a photo of her doing pushups, says she inspires him and calls himself her “wing man”. FLOTUS is the true “uniter” LOL
http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/columnists/ct-met-kass-0610-20120610,0,3562997.column
Good for him. Some Repubs aren’t totally evil.
All Republicans might not be totally evil, I agree. The problem is the decent ones have allow themselves to be drown out by those evil ones. And no, no other First Lady might not do push ups, probably because they couldn’t do them. This First Lady and President believes in exercising, and as the First Lady said on the View, she has to be who she is, and she isn’t anything phony.
I’m glad he likes FLOTUS, but he has always been as disgusting as can be. Don’t trust him. Probably saying he likes FLOTUS to give him some credibility for constantly slamming POTUS—–and every other Chgo and Illinois Dem.
Aww, dotster. Nothing like being doused with a cold bucket of reality.
Maybe I should retract my “some Repubs aren’t totally evil” statement. Wishful thinking on my part.
Forgive me. I’m a Democrat. Afterall, we are a hopeful people!

Beware the latest political survey telephone scam. I got a call from these cretins today. It’s starts off as a recording from some “Political Survey Group” (sometimes they use different names). Supposedly want your opinion on the state of politics in the country, the national debt, whatever… and claim after you answer the questions you’re entitled to a “free” trip to the Bahamas (or some other Carribean site). Of course, they want you to pay for certain “fees” up front (taxes and gratuities most often). They’re ignoring the Federal Do Not Call list. There is no cruise, they want your money.
DO NOT give your personal info and especially credit card info to unsolicited telemarketers! Hang up on them!
Google Bahamas cruise scam or go to http://www.ripoffreport and search til you’ve had enough.

http://www.ripoffreport.com/cruise-ships/united-public-opinio/united-public-opinion-group-27f80.htm
I got that call also……ON OUR BUSINESS LINE.
Too many people get taken in by these crooks, Linda. It’s a damn shame.
Got that call, hung up right away when they mentioned the phony trip to Bahamas.
I’ve had that recorded call—-dozens of times. I’ve hung up on it every time, but I am obviously still on the list. No one is going to give anyone a free anything.
Exactly!
I’ve had two of those calls. Hung up.
I got one of those calls! At first I was elated — I was being polled although it already had a push-poll feeling to it. Then the free tickets to Bermuda and I knew it was a scam.
I got several and I hung up. Be watchful and careful, and move on. These people will not defeat us.
Good Morning and Afternoon to my TOD family. I am gearing up today for my doctor’s instructions on the deep vein pain/ I have two OFA events to attend this week. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers.
Oh, my fundraiser page is moving up. Thank you all so much. I am trying to reach this second goal and then move to my final goal. I hope that I get my goal today, and then post my final goal. It too has some special meaning for our wonderful POTUS.
Give whatever you so desire, I will totally and most graciously appreciate all of your help. I am so excited to be a part of such a wonderful family here.

House to Vote on Holder Contempt, on June 20.
This is desperation. Like they are behind and need something Big.
That Pastor was speaking the t-r-u-t-h………. the truth.
I WILL DO THE WORK
Good Morning TOD family
This evening there is a conference call for OFA volunteers. I will participate. This monthly call is a great way for folks to discuss strategy directly with the campaign staff. I intend to take some very deep breaths before and after the call and remind myself “They’ve Got This”
What can you do today? Go to this page to find an event near you, anyone can attend, even if you have not officially signed up to be in OFA. https://my.barackobama.com/page/event/search_simple?source=primary-nav
If you don’t have an OFA in your area, lets find someone near you who can help you carpool to a neighboring city or help you start your own OFA. It only takes you and one other person and you have a team.
If you can’t leave your house you can make phone calls using the OFA website. You can choose to use a script about Health Care, Environmental Issues or the Economy.

Keep those stories coming, they give us strength, inspire us to act and will ultimately be the reason we win in November.
Thanks WiW! this is great!
Does anyone know if Congress is in session or home this week? Thanks
house.gov has nothing scheduled until 6/19.
Thanks – I am guessing they are home.
They might be still doing the fake session crap to keep POTUS from doing recess appointments. Hard to know.
Senate.gov mentions this for today:
Monday, Jun 11, 2012
2:00 p.m.: Convene and resume consideration of the motion to proceed to S.3240, the Farm bill, post-cloture.
Luv the fact that PBO is going through local media. More and more ppl ignoring the beltway boyz.. Their inflated egos and eight figure incomes are hard to justify.
“inflated egos and eight figure incomes” is indeed hard to justify and likely a big part of the problem. Hard to believe that Dylan Ratigan was reportedly making a mill a year. For what? Hyper-partisan snarling?
Mark Knoller was having one of his usual meltdowns this morning. He’s mad whenever the President bypasses the National Media.
Anyone been looking for a good morning warm up routine? Here ya go!
Okay, that was the wrong one, but can you ever get time of it?
Here’s the one I MEANT to post…
Dudette, thanks for posted one of our favorites.. I watch that video again and again simply because it again shows the great and beautiful spirit that lies within our lovely FLOTUS and our brilliant, warm and loving POTUS.
Can anyone see Mitt Romney even expressing that kind of a natural spirit. It will never happen because it is Not in Willard’s nature.
We are going to keep out beautiful POTUS and FLOTUS. These are just some of the beautiful qualities that we so love about PBO.
You gave another lift to our day by reminding us of what a jewel we have in PBO and FLOTUS. We Will Be Keeping Both for sure. HZ

To gauge the likely, actual impact of the law, the Urban Institute prepared a study on the economic impacts of Mitt Romney’s Massachusetts health care reforms, which were the inspiration for “Obamacare.”
Its conclusion? “Massachusetts achieved its goal of near-universal health insurance coverage under its 2006 health reform initiative, with no indication of negative job consequences relative to other states.”
excellent guys and WiW too! Tweeted.
Hi a4alice and WiW, and thank you for posting information here again., I also did some calling this morning, and some were not home, but where appropriate, I left a message. Then I did get some live ones, and they were all very nice, and immediately stated that they supports President Obama strongly. It was great.
For those of us who maybe having a painful day with the old body, but the mouth, eyes, ears are working along with the fingers, this is another way to move PRESSON and help POB and all of us move FORWARD. Pace yourself as you call. Love you all very much. HZ

Good for California. I wish the rest of the country were half as enlightened.
‘I’ll have what the President ordered,’” ME TOO!
“There’s been a 25% increase in sales at the 14th Street location where the President ordered six sandwiches, paying $62.79 for an order that included a 12-inch Spruce Street for himself, a delish combo of roast turkey, prosciutto, roasted red peppers and sharp provolone on house-made bread. The other Taylor Gourmets locations have seen a 15% increase in sales, Rashid said.
“Most folks will walk straight to the register without even looking at the menu and simply say ‘I’ll have what the President ordered,’” Rashid said.
Before the President’s fifteen-minute visit, the 14th Street shop was dishing out an average of 21 Spruce Street hoagies per day at each of its four locations, Rashid said; since May 16, that number has jumped to 53 daily.”

I tell ya..he’s a one man economic booster!
“The President held a quick roundtable during his visit, chatting with Taylor co-owners Casey Patten and David Mazza about what Congress can do to help small businesses. Forget waiting for Congress: All the President needs to do is eat his way across America to re-invigorate the economy. Taylor Gourmet, however, has resisted the urge to re-name the Spruce Street as “The Obama.”
Thanks, xtine.. They could call it the Obamarama…Yummm.
http://www.hollywoodlife.com/2012/06/11/robin-roberts-bone-marrow-disease-gma-announcement-mds/
We’re so sorry to report that GMA host Robin Roberts, 51, has been diagnosed with MDS — Myelodysplastic Syndrome.
The breast cancer survivor announced that this is a rare side effect of breast cancer treatment and will begin pre-treatment for the disease today, June 11, in preparation for a bone marrow transplant.
“I will beat this,” she told viewers on June 11.
Life is so precious. I will lift Robin and her sister (who is a match for Robin ) up in my prayer time, and quiet meditation time.
Remember, Robin was just interviewing President Obama a few weeks ago, right?
We all are learning to carry our spirits very carefully in this life because life is so fragile and precious. I have come away from much reading and thinking lately on ways to continue to present my body, mind, and spirit to the world daily. Since there has been so much negative energy trying to enclose me and even as we hear some of our TOD family members here, we must remember to live a more loving, more patient and joyful life.
We owe it to our lives to embark daily on ways to be creative with our time, our words, and our deeds to each other in this world of troubles for so many of our friends and family members. This leads us to make sure that we have a complete adjustment in our lives dailythat will help us to align our thoughts and treatment to ourselves and others more carefully and lovingly. And we must make sure that we place into our space those things that will give us joyfulness, earnest words of kindness to others. And please do not forget to take a daily dose full of ‘little helpers’ such as calmness, gentle spirits, platters full of laughter, and a comforting word for our sisters and brothers around us.
All of this may mean that we will have to make sure that our minds are in line with those things that we allow to come into our hearts, our thoughts, and our actions. Pick up those beautiful things while you are shopping around this universe that will enhance your space in your home, your workplace, time with love ones, and your fun times.
Enjoy who you are. I smiled last evening when LL mentioned to Desertflower about his evening of being in southern Cali and enjoying his cocktails, the night air, and his lovely spouse.. He took the time to bring into his space those things that he could enjoy to complete him for the evening and then even share what he was experiencing at the time . Those moments gave lightness to DF in that DF was able to receive LL’s thoughts and she went on to prepare for herself a nice cool cocktail. That was a precious moment in life to cherish. It was a very beautiful moment, I felt.
So, let us move FORWARD with our beautiful Chips and our Wonderful President and surround ourselves with those things that are so dear to us so that we may tune out the crazy noise, the ugly spirits, and walk in Hope, Love, Compassion, and Victory for our work to be completed on Nov. 6, 2012.(At least the first phase).
Fill your spaces with words that lift your spirit,
Music that makes you dance,
Books that give you a calm reading,
Foods that give pleasure to your body and souls
And Move On with your Hope for Change.
((((((((((((((((((((( Be kind and Gentle To Yourself))))))))))))))) That is how President Obama can rise above all of this. Let us take his examples.HZ

I’m from Oregon. Grew up in Southern Oregon in a timber economy now largely gone. I will tell you how private equity companies like Bain ruin an economy. Remember, another word for private equity is “corporate raider.” In the Medford, Ore. area of Oregon there was a very successful timber company called MedCo. They had several mills and employed thousands of workers in high paying jobs. They owned millions of acres of timber growing company. They prided themselves in a policy of sustained yield in their harvest of timber. That way a supply of timber would always be there for their mills. Along came a private equity firm of corporate raiders, investors from Texas. They did a leveraged buyout of MedCo. In other words they did a hostile take over of a well functioning company that did not want to be bought out. They then proceeded to close all the mills, fire all the workers, loot the pension funds, and cut all the timber, shipping it overseas. These wealthy Texas raiders destroyed a progressive company that had functioned for generations as a job base for an entire region of Southern Oregon. Entire communities were thrown into poverty and unto government safety net programs. Lands were sold for real estate development with attempts to bypass land use laws. (I know because my father was running for mayor of Medford and was offered financial support if he would support their move to fire a city manager who insisted on enforcing land use laws.) So not only did this private equity company destroy and economic base but they corrupted the political process and public officials. My father lost the election, and his opponent won with the support of this private equity firm. This private equity firm left the government with a toxic waste dump to clean up and thousands of ruined lives to restore and laid waste to an entire forest. This is the legacy of MItt Romney and the GOP. This is their plan for America.
Wow.This is personal and tragic. You need to tell your story so that many hear…before it’s too late. Thank you, Bill
HI Bill
A similar situation happened where I grew up, Scotia CA, near Eureka. Pacific Lumber Company was a family owned company, that had a sustainable use policy, now it is closed. The stories are almost identical.
Send this story to OFA and find a way to tweet it. This is immensely important.
Thanks, Bill R, for sharing this important story. It should be shared with as many people as we can. By the way, Bill, I love Oregon. I spent four years in Portland and two years in Eugene. But I was also able to travel around the state including Medford. The Oregonians are some of the most generous and open minded people I know.

Study: Companies With Big Spending CEOs Are More Likely To Commit Fraud
Good morning, Chips and TOD family. I hope everyone’s doing well.
I’ve been struggling with whether or not to write about something that happened a couple days ago on Twitter, until I read this diary over at Dkos just now: http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/06/10/1095442/-Discussing-homelessness-and-homeless-people-at-Daily-Kos
Late Friday night, someone created a sock account, @ForMoreFor44, and started tweeting insinuations and lies about the fundraising @capecodgurl had done for me and Tucker to get my stuff moved out of my old apartment in NYC and into storage, and to come up Maine to stay with LunarSea. I know this was a sock account because there were only 21 tweets on the account and they were all tweets to/about me and people I was having conversations with on Twitter, including our own thuddyt. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the presence of mind to take screen shots of the person’s timeline, and the account was deleted the next morning.
What this person did was malicious and just disgusting. I’ve never conned anyone out of anything. The outpouring and love and support (financial and otherwise) so many of you gave me was not because of any solicitation I made. That’s what made what you guys did for me so special. I didn’t ask you, but so many of you felt compelled to reach out and help when you heard what had happened to me. In fact, several of you have been amazing in your generosity since I left Florida back in January of 2011. If it were not for those folks, I would have been homeless a long time ago.
Some days, just breathing is a struggle and I want it to stop. Most times I feel so isolated and desperate that the only thought that dominates is the one to make the pain stop. If it weren’t for my precious Tucker and the knowledge of how my actions could affect my son, I would make the pain stop.
I’ve found myself in this place not through any fault of mine. I have nothing to hide, and in fact, would say I live my life out loud. If there is something any of you want to ask me, by now, you know how to get a hold of me. You can call, email, or even tweet under your real id and ask me whatever’s on your mind. I have nothing left but my good name. Yes, I’m homeless, jobless, and hopeless, but I can look anyone in the eye and be honest about all of that and how I got to be that way. My conscience is clear and my integrity is still in tact.
Let me end by thanking all of you who’ve helped with money, a home, a couch, an ear, a shoulder, a kind word. Nothing I can say could truly explain my deep and abiding gratitude, but thank you, thank you, thank you.
God bless.
There is a middle aged man that hangs out at my building here at work. He often asks for money when I am out and about in the area. My co-workers always tease me that I shouldn’t give to him because he probably has a secret bank account somewhere and is just peddling for money. My response is always the same. “God said give to those in need”. He made pride a sin because he doesn’t want us to be fearful to ask because I believe our sole purpose in this life is to be here for each other. This is why whatever you have on this earth you cannot take it with you when you leave. It was mean’t to be shared. We are our brothers and sisters keepers.
Worry not Hachikō! Even in your darkest hour, He is there holding and keeping you. You owe me NO explanation. You were given without conditions. I wish there could be more but most of all I wish I could find you a great job so that your life could be on an easier path.
God Bless you and keep the faith!
Thank you, Donna. Blessings to you, too.
You’re a member of our family. We love you and are praying for you always.
Hachiko, my dear, I cannot say this verbatim but just recently FL Michelle Obama told a graduating class of young women that there will always be those who will say things about you and try to pull you down with them. She said, forget them and do what you need to in order to carry on with your life. If we were to listen to people, all our lives would be on hold. People can be mean but you have been very fortunate and blessed to be part of the TOD family and to have received the support (whatever kind)from them.
“Some days, just breathing is a struggle and I want it to stop. Most times I feel so isolated and desperate that the only thought that dominates is the one to make the pain stop.”………….I may have misunderstood this line and I am subject to correction but I hear a sense of desperation and sadness which scares me. I do not know you but I know there are good people on this palnet and I have discovered a big bunch right here at TOD and again I state that you are fortunate and blessesd to be part of this. I never thought I would come across a group of people who are so forward thinking and empathetic to each other. Keep strong for your son, for Tucker and for yourself. I wish I could actually talk to you just to hear your voice and let you know that even though I am thousands of miles away, you are in my heart.I am sending ALL my love to you my dear. The world is better for having you in it.
Thank you, trinisamba. I keep fighting! It gets harder and harder with each passing day, but I keep trying.
I just saw a CNN segment on unemployed women retraining to get construction jobs. One of the women has been out of work since the end of 2009. She said she’s lost everything – everything, except her mind and her faith. Sometimes I think I have very little of either left. I want to be left with my good name. I never bargained for trading that for donations.
Anyway, thanks for your kind words, trini. They mean a lot. Take care.
Awwwh, you have me crying because I always wish that I could help people financially but I can’t. Among my friends I am the one who gives both ears (lots of listening) then a few good words. You have to be a gem to be among TODers. All my love girlfriend. Can I get your e-mail address through Chips?. I would love to send you some inspirational stuff from time to time, that is if you want of course.
Yes, chips has my contact info. Feel free to stay in touch.
Well said, Donna, I second it a thousand fold.
Right on. That’s the truth, Donna.
You don’t need this kind of malicious attack. I’m so sorry. We know you needed the help and were happy to do what we could.
Stay strong. Unfortunately, you have to be even stronger than your normally do because of this.
Forget about those malicious people and go forward. World is full of small minded people.
Haichiko, I’m so sorry you’ve had to endure this kind of mess in your hour of trial. I’m sending you virtual hugs and warming light. You and your Tucker remain in my prayers.
Hachiko hold your head up high and move forward. You asked for help and people responded. Period – there should be no questions and insinuations. It could have been any one of us or anyone else. The person who did this is a very small, sad, miserable “human” being. And they will get their due justice in time.
Hachiko, there are always going to be dumb and hateful people whose only purpose seems to be to hurt others. They are part of the evil that we fight every day in this world. It saddens me that they decided to attack you when you are down on your strength and resources. In doing that, they revealed how low they are. What I hope you’ve found during this long time of trial is that many people love you and love can overcome the hate. You have our love, Tucker’s and your son’s. You have good health now that your tests have come out well. And you started to get some work, even for the summer. The future will be better. You will come into your own and will look back on this time and know that you moved beyond it and were strengthened. Don’t ever give up. You family needs you. And so do we.
Great comment Jackie, you expressed what I wanted to say a lot better than I could. Please Hachiko, don’t spend a second worrying about the hateful people out there. They may be in a better situation than you at the moment, who knows, but they are a lot poorer than you because you are rich in human qualities, you are kind, you have a good heart. The love you have for Tucker just melt my heart. You will get through this, you are not alone.
There’s always light after darkness.
Let me clarify by saying I wasn’t accusing anyone here of creating the @FourMoreFor44 account. I don’t know who did it. However, if someone is concerned about how I spent the money that was donated, please feel free to ask me in an open and forthright way without hiding behind a sock making malicious and unfounded accusations and insinuations.
I didn’t snort, drink, gamble away the money. I used it to do what I said I would: move my things out of the apartment and into storage. Rent a vehicle to drive to Maine. Pay for storage. Pay to keep my phone on. Pay for the hotel I’ve been staying at since I left LunarSea’s. Eat. Buy my meds. Buy food and meds for Tucker. Pay for transportation and miscellaneous other living expenses. In other words, live. Stay afloat. And, again, thank you for allowing me to do that.
LHM…There was a reason why I wasn’t on Twitter this weekend. This would have cause me to curse someone out. Sis, hold your head up high. Don’t worry about what ppl say. They are intentially trying to bring you down with negativity. Don’t let that happen. People who gave to you, gave out of the goodness of their hearts. All that mattered is that you & Tucker were safe. Things will get better. You have some Angels watching over you! Love you!! {{{{HUGS}}}}
And don’t I know you would!
You’ve been there from day one supporting me all the way. Your sweet voice got me through that three-day drive from Orlando to Brooklyn. I’ll never forget that. (((Sis)))
Well,I hope Tucker got a treat at least!
We’re on your side, Hachiko.
Haha! Yes he did. LunarSea’s roommate had a pet store that he was closing and I got some greenies at rock bottom prices!
Because treats for Tucker are an absolute priority.
My little 7 year old yorkie rescue is under the weather today. I’m monitoring her.
Hang in there. I saw that sock account. Ignore it. Those of us who gave donated because we care and think of you as part of our Obot family. I’m in England but will check in with you when I get back before 6/18. Take care!
Hachiko, you have so many here who gave because we wanted to. That is the most important thing to remember. No conditions from me. I just want you to get some sunshine, take into your space some good air, and look around you and just have a “private grateful time.” People will be ugly and mean, but we are not. We care about you, your son, and Tucker.
Now, take care of your food that you have and give thanks for each item. Take in your water and walk with Tucker and take in the freshness of the air and take that life and pull it close to your being. Your believing faith will take you to the path of strength that you ask for, so ask and think on that faith. Believe in it. No, it is not easy, but take in the love that we want for you as you want it for you as well. I feel that you want to be strong, so do not allow weak, hateful people to sap your strength. They do not deserve your beauty and strength. It is yours to have and appreciate. Okay.
Your living on this earth is still a great gift, so forget the ugly and hateful beings out there, and lift up your voice with spoken words of what you need, and what you want your beautiful son to have in his life from his loving mother. That is you. Take your music, take your verses of inspiration, take your tears, and let them mingle together and refresh your Hope, your Joy, Your Peace. Do Not Allow Anyone to step into your space that the angels of love and grace want to give to you today.
Be whole in knowing that a group of people in your family here, are praying for you, thinking good thoughts for you, and hoping that you will reach for the best from a loving Spiritual God who will give you the best, even when you feel like giving up. Ask for the best from the “angels of peace, grace, and goodness for your life.” (((((((((((((((( I am going to be praying and sending up good thoughts for you))))))))))))))HZ
Thank you, taiping. So much. TTYS!

Huffington Post has sunk to low that they are now having ” Caption Contests ” for the President’s facial expressions.
They are to cowardly to put attach an employee by line to it though.
This Farm Bill has some interesting bits to it:
“There’s even an amendment calling for no US assistance to Pakistan until Dr. Shakil Affridi, who was crucial to the capture of Osama bin Laden, is freed.”
List of many ammendments here: http://obamafoodorama.blogspot.com/2012/06/more-than-80-farm-bill-amendments.html
GM folks. Great news. Son got selected to one of top five engineering colleges. Got the news about 3 hours back. Apparently, he was the second in the list. A quick temple visit (wifey unit is religious) with family and just back from the celebratory dinner.
Phew ! Can I get my original black hair now ?
Probably too late on the hair front. Although you can always go the Grecian Formula route. Congrats on your son. I know that feeling of paternal pride. Thursday is the day that my son gets his PhD formally. I wrote about that before, but it will be neat to see the ceremnoy.
Congrats japa on your son’s PhD. It’s a BFD.
Yes, I call it pardonable pride.
Congrats again japa!
Wow! Congrats all away around this morning. Wonderful news on your son’s PhD. Doctor Japa in da House
Dr. Japa! Love that! Many congratulations!
Japa, Congratulations on your son’s PhD! I know your son deserves a great deal of credit for his hard work and discipline, but I also think you and your wife deserve a great deal of credit for raising a smart and responsible son. I hope your family has a wonderful celebration. on Thursday.
Ooops, meant this for your AMK! Congratulations! A dab of Clairol?
Thanks xtine. What is a clairol ? A drug for my hair or a drug for my sorrows ? I have thick hair and 1/4th of it turned white in the last coupla years.
That made me LOL, AMK! No sorrows for you, AMK! All joy! Clairol is hair color to ease your white hair, although I would just plain leave it alone & comb it w/ pride! And enjoy the thought that in your old age, you can return the favor — turn their hair white!
Congratulations amk! What a proud moment for your family. But honestly I never doubted for a moment. He’s Your Son After All
Thank you Donna. I better not repeat that to the wifey unit. She insists that he got all the good things from her and all the bad things from me. That woman….
Congratuluations on the wonderful news amk! High-fives all around!
Oh yes, and more champagne, since we all celebrating with all things French!
Thx Dudette. Just in the last thread, I was whining and within a short time, the news came. May be whining does help.
Yes, french champagne it is. Salut!
I’m so happy for all of you! Breathe now….:)
Thank you, df. Yes, all the tension is gone. I need to take the family off for a holiday. We need a break.
Great news, amk. Your wifey unit must be really smart which is the only possible explanation for your exceptional children.
Thank you dotster. At least, one of us has to be smart.
Congratulations on your son, Amk! As the say, it’s obvious the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Don’t sweat the gray hair, it’s one of the symbols of wisdom.
JUST IMAGINE THE OUTRAGE IF THE ROLES WERE REVERSED
I won’t hold my breath waiting for the feckless mainstream media to breathlessly report on this blatant attempt to continue sabotaging the economy. Everybody knows austerity isn’t working. President Obama is calling for a balanced approach.
So much for the water’s edge
By Steve Benen
————————————–
A senior economic adviser to Mitt Romney criticized President Obama and his policy toward crisis-torn Europe, and Germany in particular, in an op-ed article in a leading German newspaper on Saturday, raising the question of the propriety of taking America’s political fights into international affairs.
The article — written by R. Glenn Hubbard, the dean of the Columbia Business School and a former adviser in the Bush administration, and published in the business journal Handelsblatt — drew a rebuke from the Obama campaign.
“In a foreign news outlet, Governor Romney’s top economic adviser both discouraged essential steps that need to be taken to promote economic recovery and attempted to undermine America’s foreign policy abroad,” said Ben LaBolt, press secretary for the president’s re-election campaign.

WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court has refused to hear an appeal challenging President Barack Obama’s U.S. citizenship and his eligibility to serve as commander in chief.
Without comment, the high court on Monday refused to hear an appeal from Alan Keyes, Wiley Drake and Markham Robinson.

Not sure how this got setup as a reply to the Scotus story. Sorry about that.
Thank goodness! Something out of SCOTUS that makes sense.
What? No Orly Tatters?
I don’t know the other 2, assume they are every bit as nutty, but Alan Keyes needs to be in a secure location receiving mental health treatment, and I’m not kidding.
Alan Keys can’t get over the fact that President Obama crushed and humiliated him in the 2004 Senate elections in Illinois. He is so pathetic! No matter how right winger and delusional he gets, he still can’t convince Republicans to trust him. Any who erroneously thinks that Black people blindly support any Black person running for office should study the history of Alan Keys’ political career.
Great news! Teabagger Kelly is a real piece of work
Morning Chips and TODers. What despicable cretins the media are. Liars just like Mitt. Our President is smarter than they are and we, his army, will not let up. We;re moving Forward!
The media woke up this morning with their ready-to-go scripts from Karl Rove/RNC/KOCH/Wall St. They jumped on that story about Commerce Sec. Bryson without knowing the facts or details. They continued with their Obama doomsday narratives rehashing the nonsense of last week. Even Andrew Sullivan has now joined into the “campaign is defensive” chorus of the beltway media.
Meanwhile, the GOP is making blunder after blunder, gaffe after gaffe; GOP surrogates including Jeb Bush are all over the place making all kinds of weird comments about not only Mitt Romney, but the entire GOP. Willard trails the President in most polls and is lagging in the electoral college models. The special election in AZ tomorrow is likely to be retained by the DEM candidate. And CRICKETS from the media on all those fronts.
Little Nate and the rest of media are super silent about Gabby Giffords’ house seat – which, according to several latest polls and predictive models, is likely to be retained by the DEM.
If the reverse were true, Gabby Giffords’ seat would be on 24/7 MSM loop.
I don’t understand the stony silence of the dems on the completely partisan coverage by the media. Why aren’t prominent dems demanding equal time for teevee face time and then putting the shills like gregory, blitzer on the mat ? Raise some effing hell, FFS.
They never have and I don’t think they ever will. Good messaging the Dems do NOT get! FRUSTRATING!!!!!!!!!! I need to get over it and accept that they are never going to respond like the Repubs do.
I don’t understand this either. Frustrating beyond belief. DWS may need some agressive assistants. The Dems look anemic. The messaging is just pathetic, very one-sided. Where is everybody???
It’s not that the Dems are silent, the problem is the media refuses to cover positive news about Dems.
Good all. It’s good to be alive, eh? I received the following which I’d like to share. Have a great day.
A.A.A.D.D.. KNOW THE SYMPTOMS!
Thank goodness there’s a name for this disorder.
Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.
This is how it manifests:
I decide to water my garden.
As I turn on the hose in the driveway,
I look over at my car and decide it needs washing.
As I start toward the garage,
I notice mail on the porch table that
I brought up from the mail box earlier.
I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car.
I lay my car keys on the table,
put the junk mail in the garbage can under the table,
and notice that the can is full.
So, I decide to put the bills back
on the table and take out the garbage first…
But then I think,
since I’m going to be near the mailbox
when I take out the garbage anyway,
I may as well pay the bills first.
I take my check book off the table,
and see that there is only one check left.
My extra checks are in my desk in the study,
so I go inside the house to my desk where
I find the can of Pepsi I’d been drinking.
I’m going to look for my checks,
but first I need to push the Pepsi aside
so that I don’t accidentally knock it over.
The Pepsi is getting warm,
and I decide to put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold.
As I head toward the kitchen with the Pepsi,
a vase of flowers on the counter
catches my eye–they need water.
I put the Pepsi on the counter and
discover my reading glasses that
I’ve been searching for all morning.
I decide I better put them back on my desk,
but first I’m going to water the flowers.
I set the glasses back down on the counter,
fill a container with water and suddenly spot the TV remote.
Someone left it on the kitchen table.
I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV,
I’ll be looking for the remote,
but I won’t remember that it’s on the kitchen table,
so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs,
but first I’ll water the flowers.
I pour some water in the flowers,
but quite a bit of it spills on the floor.
So, I set the remote back on the table,
get some towels and wipe up the spill.
Then, I head down the hall trying to
remember what I was planning to do.
At the end of the day:
the car isn’t washed
the bills aren’t paid
there is a warm can of
Pepsi sitting on the counter
the flowers don’t have enough water,
there is still only 1 check in my check book,
I can’t find the remote,
I can’t find my glasses,
and I don’t remember what I did with the car keys
Then, when I try to figure out why nothing got done today,
I’m really baffled because I know I was busy all day,
and I’m really tired.
I realize this is a serious problem,
and I’ll try to get some help for it, but first I’ll check my e-mail….
Do me a favor.
Forward this message to everyone you know,
because I don’t remember who I’ve sent it to.
Don’t laugh — if this isn’t you yet, your day is coming! P.S. I don’t remember who sent it to me, so if it was you, I’m sorry…
Sorry I was in a hurry. Good day!
This is me.:) A million times over, this is me:)
Hi Yardarm! I knew I had some kinda disorder, just couldn’t put my finger on it!
Glad I could help.
You’re one in a million, friend.
Oh, yardarm, I’m glad it isn’t only me.
YOU ARE NOT ALONE. ALWAYS REMEMBER!(if you can)
My guess over the weekend was correct. The euphoria over Spain getting a bail-out lasted only a few hours today and the market turned down and the Euro is dropping again.
Good afternoon. Checking in from the mountains of western NC where hubby and I are at our church’s annual conference. (UMC) The TV market for here is Greenville/Spartanburg SC so every time there’s a local news break, they talk about the reporter that is going to the WH today to interview PO. It is so neat to hear that and glad my hubby “has” to hear it as well.
Somewhat of an aside: The General Conference of the UMC began a new initiative 4 years ago……designed to bring the church into the 21st Century…….become relevant and minister to the new demographics. My husband totally “gets” this, is in favor of churches pushing it and truly becoming churches that are alive and vital in their communities. He gets that the mission field has changed and will continue to change. I think what he isn’t able to do is translate that to the electorate. Last night when we were discussing this Call to Action plan, I even –purposely–used the phrase that the country is no longer a majority of “old, white and male.” Still don’t think he gets it.
Thanks for the news on the local reporter going to the WH, tnmtngirl.
I use to live in Asheville in the ’70s…so Beautiful!
REALLY?????? I say, “Go with this, big boy!”

Romney Campaign Chair: ‘Taxpayers Really Do Want To Hear There Will Be Fewer Teachers’
As A commenter said, you know what I think we need LESS of? REPUBLICANS!
You’ve got a point! At first, I just got mad when I read it, but you’re right! They should just run with that. Absolutely!
So it can bite them in the ass. Big-time!
Let them shout it out tot he rooftops, df. Scare every parent in the country into voting for the president because this Willard guy is planning to make life hell for your child.
Amazing! If I understand this correctly, Willard “Mitt” Romney’s plan to create jobs for real Americans requires the firing of teachers, cops and firefighters. But I’ve yet to see Mitt’s plan to rehire those fired public workers by private business. Even more importantly, when did Mitt Romney and the GOP decide that public employees (e.g teachers, cops and firefighters) are not real Americans? Does Miit Romney plan to fire the SS agents that protect him because they are paid by tax dollars and not by private equity farms like Bain Capital? The blatant hypocrisy of Romney and the GOP is truly breathtaking!
SMDH again…
Why? Just Why?

KKK seeks to ‘Adopt-A-Highway’ in Georgia
The state of Georgia is in a bind after a local Ku Klux Klan (KKK) group filed a request to join the state’s Adopt-A-Highway program.
Records obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution show that the International Keystone Knights of the KKK in Union County has applied to “adopt” one mile of Route 515, located in the Appalachian Mountains near North Carolina. The state would be forced to give the group official recognition in the form of road signs bearing their name and other benefits in return for cleaning up litter on the stretch of highway.
The state of Missouri in 1999 argued that they could bar a KKK group from participating in the Adopt-A-Highway program without violating their First Amendment rights. With the help of the American Civil Liberties Union, the group eventually won after the state’s case was dismissed by the U.S. Supreme Court.
Officials from the Georgia Department of Transportation were meeting with lawyers in the state attorney general’s office on Monday to decide how to proceed. In the end, the state could be forced to include the white supremacist group or end the program altogether…
They’re a known terrorist organization. Why should the people of Georgia be forrced to promote them, which is exactly what those signs acknowledging their “adoption” would do. Any lawyers out there?
and apparently the repugs think these americans are too stupid to notice they’re being disenfranchised.

Buzzfeed seems to have now taken a very intense curiosity about PBO’s childhood/youth. Someone with time on their hands compiled a gallery 29 photos of “Baby” Obama.
http://www.buzzfeed.com/andrewkaczynski/29-photos-of-baby-barack-obama#HTWF2
Will Buzzfeed come out with a 29-photos of Baby Willard gallery?
Nooooo! Do. Not. Want. To. See. Baby. Willard. I don’t think there are any photos, he was hotwired in someone’s basement.
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRR! Showing Van Jones at Nutroots saying, “We’re supposed to be fired up. We’re supposed to be ready to go. But we’re pissed off!!! We’re just not in love with this president any more.”
I am so sick of these traitors!!!!!!
Why are they working so hard to elect Romney? What in the world? Why are they doing this? Do they all have a brain disease, cannot see what disasters await them, and us, with a Willard World????
So infuriating. Nauseating.
thank you
My opinion there has always been something about Van Jones that I didn’t really trust. We are not suppose to be in love with President Obama. The only one who suppose to be in love with him is his wife, Mrs. Michelle Obama. But we are suppose to believe in what he stands for, we are suppose to believe that he has the best interest of all of the American people, including those who wasn’t born with a silver spoon in their mouth. We are suppose to believe that his vision of America is better than Mitt Romney and those radical extreme Republicans. So to hell with Van Jones. I am fired up and ready to go.
Exactly my take ab

Van Jones and the Nut Roots.
Blah…blah…blah……oh….and Buy my new Book.
Which makes you wonder, what’s up with THIS? HE was PRECISELY on point here:

“Furthermore, I think we to need to take a big step back here. When you have the amount of pain in this country, the Republican Party has not only been missing in action, they won’t pass their own bills to help Americans right now. They won’t pass their own ideas to help small businesses right now. Why? Because their gain will come when America has more pain.”
Jones added: “It’s like Obama is a lifeguard, trying to help people from drowning, and these guys are sitting back hoping more people will drown. That’s wrong, that’s morally wrong.”
Is EVERY pundit wishy washy?
Why I don’t like Van Jones and have not liked him for a looonnng time. He is another “Chris Matthews”. He sticks the knife in PBO’s back and then pulls it out. He has his own self-interest. I don’t trust him and haven’t trusted him. I don’t like his cheesy smile. He said that President Obama has crushed the hopes of liberals. Who gave him the right to speak for millions of people. He is a dumb a man. He knows of the dozens and dozens of accomplishments of this administration. Is he a saboteur? What is his agenda?
Sorry for the rant? He’s getting some push back on Twitter, but he really has galled me.
Should be: “He is NOT a dumb man”.
BTW, by his words, he’s trying to depress liberals and put Mitt in the White House.
They make lots of money on us fools when a Republican is in office.

Awwwwww!! 29 beautiful photos of President Obama as a baby

And is Politico’s Glenn Thrush on the Romney campaign payroll? What a partisan hack. Romney peeps may want to drop a little bonus in his lap. He’s putting forth a great effort on their behalf.
Folks, I must apologise for reposting this but I just did not want Hachiko to miss this so bare with me and thanks in advance…………………..
The world is better for having you in it.
that is…….bear with me
Whelp I got a job for myself and will be working manufacturing! I am so happy today that I wanted to announce it here even though I don’t post a whole lot on here I’ve come to this blog reading all the different thoughts that my fellow PBO supporters.
I sent some money to the Obama campaign earlier this week and will send some more when I can. We must get him elected by all costs, Romney will throw this country down the drain and we cannot allow that to happen.
Congratulations Jeff.
Way to go!~
Congrats jeff. Manufacturing hire is generally a good indicator of economic growth. Best wishes.
two other people besides myself also got hired. I live in Seattle btw.
More good news. Excellent.
My son is also in Washington state. Since he was just hired, wouldn’t it be funny if he is one of the other two hired that you mentioned.
Great news, jeff!
Awesome news, Jeff! Congratulations:)
Congratulations, Jeff!!
#FORWARD
Excellent news Jeff. Good luck in your new job. My son just got a job this morning too. Things are looking up!
Wonderful news, Jeff! Congratulations!
Congratulations. Several months ago, Robert Reich (ugh) said Manufacturing will not be an ‘important’ growth industry. His way of saying PBO was focused on the wrong sector of the economy. I must disagree.
Jeff, I am just so happy that you got a job. The fact that your job is in manufacturing is so important. It means that that you’ll be working in an economic sector that is built to last and just not for short-term political gains.
I see over at TeaNN that Cathy Morris Rogers name is being banded about for VP pick…interesting. She has 2 children, one with Down’s Syndrome.Yet she voted AGAINST the ACA and FOR the Ryan budget plan. How do you square that?
Who the hell is she ?
She is THIS odious woman:
http://www.issues2000.org/House/Cathy_McMorris-Rodgers_Health_Care.htm
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cathy_McMorris-Rodgers
She’s the one that has attended the “Eric Cantor School of Smug Smiles” . SHe’s the woman that you see when the Republicans trot out in front of a podium to tell America what they don’t deserve on any given day. Recogize her Wiki picture?
Never seen or heard about her. But that smug smile, I get.
Lucky you! That smug smile lands on many RW faces.
If I called TeaNN and said that I was being considered…they would probably report that to and send a mobile crew to interview me since I am here in Atlanta.
She went to an un-accredited evangelical college, Pensacola Christian College, then worked for her parent’s fruit stand before entering politics. She has no personality and is a horrible public speaker. Her name is probably being tossed around to indicate the GOP would still consider a women after the Palin disaster. It is very unlikely Willard would pick her.
Well, considering no one WANTS that job to begin with, I am anxious to see who they trot out.
It is difficult to predict, but in the end I’ll bet it will be Senator Rob Portman (R-OH).
B O R I N G !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I wonder how he’ll spin Ohio’s better than average job #’s? Now that the auto industry and all its components have come back?
This is bad news for Obama. The media told me so….so it MUST be true.

CAN THEY PLEASE SHOUT THIS FROM THE ROOFTOPS!
DF, I was listening to that stock channel [MSNBC? or CNBC?] and they were discussing the Scotus ruling coming on Affordable Care. Consensus is that there is only a 10% chance the whole thing will be thrown out, and I think that is an over-estimate. There is a 90% chance that part or all of it will survive. What they think possibly might go is the mandate, but that would have to be replaced with something similar to have it all work. The gurus are betting that it will survive and that health care stocks will soar UP! If it didn’t, health care stocks would crash. They are all buying HC stocks right now.
I hope you’re right…someone mentioned the other day in a comment on another blog…if SCOTUS does away with the mandate, what happens in MA where 97% of the population is COVERED and happy? Does this mean that they can’t mandate AUTO insurance? BIG MISTAKE! I just happened to get off the phone with my insurance carrier and asked about the increase in my premium for my auto insurance…though a small increase, an increase none the less. Our cars are older than dirt, never been in an accident…..had this insurance for probably 25 years. You know what he told me? The state of AZ reconfigured their insurance premiums and adjusted for ALL drivers, and it didn’t matter if you were a safe driver or not! Seriously???? considering that there are those that only get proof of insurance to buy the car, then drop it…WE ARE PAYING FOR THEM TO NOT HAVE INSURANCE AND PICK UP THEIR TAB!
I really wish that these people would pull their heads out of their collective asses. If we ALL have insurance to protect ourselves from the unforseen, be it healthcare or home, or auto…THAT’S called taking responsibility. That’s called being smart and prepared! The “foresight” these idiots show for long range plans is disgusting…and dangerous.
As long as you say “sorry” all is well!

So, now Willard is going on a Battleground State tour.
And Halperin is just beside Himself that Michigan, is one of the States that Willard will travel to.
Halperin thinks, Willards trip there could be a game changer.
What is He talking about, on a lot of levels?
Yup, I agree it will be a game changer just like Sarah Palin was a game changer for McCain….made his chances of LOSING skyrocket…Willard will go to Michigan and wind up ticking off just about everybody with his cluelessness and boring, gaffe-prone speeches. Halperin is right – excellent news for John McCain!!!
here’s more great news for mccain: when pbo wins in a landslide in 2012, also carrying the senate and house on his coat-tails, old john can say, see, it was just the times, inevitable, nothing to do with me.
ACLU Files Suit to Block ‘Illegal’ Purge of ‘Potential Non-Citizen’ Voters in Florida
http://www.bradblog.com/?p=9337
The state of Florida and it’s Secretary of State Ken Detzner (R) are knowingly violating Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act in their attempted purge of “potential non-citizens” from the Sunshine State voting rolls, according to a new federal lawsuit [PDF] filed by the ACLU and the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law.
The complaint follows on the heels of a May 31, 2012 two-page letter submitted to FL election officials by T. Christian Herren, the chief lawyer of the U.S. Justice Department’s Voting Rights Division. In his letter, Herren opined that the state’s voter roll purge is in violation of Section 5 — at least in the 6 Florida counties “covered” by that section — because the state has not sought preclearance from either the DOJ or a federal court, as required by that section of the 40-year old federal law.
Additionally, the DOJ notes in its letter, the purge, coming as it does within the 90 days before Florida’s federal primary election, is also in violation of the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) which covers the entire state.
In response, FL State Department spokesman Chris Cates initially said they would continue the purge nonetheless, as they were “firmly committed to doing the right thing and preventing ineligible voters from being able to cast a ballot.” In his official response to the DOJ a few days later, Detzner all but challenged the feds to bring a suit in order to stop the state from continuing their efforts.
Of the original 180,000 names identified by the state as potential non-citizens, out of some 11.3 million registered voters in the state of Florida, 2,700 were sent to county election officials with instructions to notify those voters that they had just 30 days to prove their citizenship or be removed from the rolls. As reported by the Christian Science Monitor, “Before heeding DOJ’s order to stop the purge” county election officials had identified just four noncitizens who “may have voted in past elections, making them potentially guilty of voter fraud,” while clearing hundreds of voters who had, in fact, been legally registered voters. Hundreds of others may have been removed from the rolls, despite being legally registered citizen voters.
As The BRAD BLOG previously reported, Herren had demanded that FL officials “advise whether the State intends to cease the practice,” but stopped short of issuing an actual “order” that FL immediately cease and desist. Such an order would have to come by way of an injunction issued by a U.S. District Court. The ACLU lawsuit now seeks that injunction even though, according to the Miami Herald, county elections supervisors across the state, led by Leon County’s Ion Sancho, are now refusing to carry out a purge which Sancho describes as “illegal.”
The ACLU lawsuit alleges facts that suggest the FL GOP is relying upon a FL Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DMV) database that it knows cannot provide an accurate basis for establishing non-citizenship until 2017.
Unfortunately, this year’s purge in Florida continues a tradition that has been affecting legal voters in Florida — and, along with them, the rest of the nation — cycle after cycle since at least the 2000 election…
This is just sickening! At least it’s being called what it is — BRIBERY!!
Legalized Bribery: Group Linked To House Republican Leadership Offers Campaign Ads For Key Votes
http://thinkprogress.org/justice/2012/06/11/497505/legalized-bribery-group-linked-to-house-republican-leadership-offers-campaign-ads-for-key-votes/
—————–
The YG Network, a secret-money outside political group run by former aides to House Republican Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA), launched a new radio ad campaign today designed to reward Republican Members of Congress who back Cantor and the party’s leadership on key votes. Politico explains:
The YG Network is seeking to “leverage the floor schedule and votes scheduled by Cantor to help members at home,” an aide said. If a member — specifically, an ally of Cantor and Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) — votes for a leadership priority, they can look forward to an ad in their district.
The YG Network hopes the effort becomes “another tool in the belt to call attention to members and help encourage cohesion on difficult-to-whip votes,” the aide said. Leadership is not permitted to offer anything in exchange for a vote.
Essentially, YG Network is saying that it will reward members who vote as they wish with “independent” expenditures on their behalf. Because the 501(c)(4) tax-exempt group is technically independent of Cantor, it can provide a significant carrot that the Republican Leader cannot offer himself.
While likely legal, Paul Ryan of the Campaign Legal Center told ThinkProgress “many would characterize the way Washington politics has long worked as ‘legalized bribery.’” He observed that this is exactly what the 5-4 majority on the Supreme Court made possible by its Citizens United ruling… [more in the article, including a sample video ad on behalf of Rep. Vicky Hartzler (R-MO)]
