Good Morning TOD Family. I am off this morning so just hanging out. Bought a new car yesterday. Love my little Mustang GT convertible. Yes, I am going through my SECOND childhood.

It is a 5 speed “standard” transmission. First dealership I went to, the salesman called me “hon”. I ignored it but when he asked my husband if I could even drive a stick, my husband and I left. Wow! Must be a GOP member.

Last time we bought a car we had a similar experience. The ‘wife” gets to pick the color, yada yada. while I was the one armed with research on the car. We went to another dealership.

Congrats on your new Mustang Proud. I am a Mustang fan myself. I have had two Mustang GT convertibles and each one had over100,000 miles on them when I sold them. Never had a problem with either of them.

This morning…on TeaNN they showed a clip of an interview that Christine Romans had with a man named Jim Rogers. He was a partner of George Soros in the Soros ” Quantum Fund ” started back in the early 70′s.

Of course she asked for his take on both the candidates regarding the economy……. He dismissed them both as ” clueless ” but the thing that really pissed me off is that he said ” 6 years ago……Obama was a ” community organizer “. She sat there and said nothing..

    • June 13, 2012 at 8:20 am

I think Romans had the right idea. Sometimes it’s best to not say anything and keep it moving. This was one of those times.

      • 20 anniebella
        June 13, 2012 at 8:34 am

I thought six years ago President Obama was a U.S. Senator. And what is wrong with being a community organizer? You are out there trying to help the people in that community, when Mitt Romney was at Bain Capital, who was he trying to help? Himself and his rich friends. He sure didn’t give a dam about the common man or woman.

        • June 13, 2012 at 8:40 am

Exactly. Romans trying to point that out to a brick wall would be a better use of her time than trying to school Rogers.

        • 22 jackiegrumbacher
          June 13, 2012 at 9:04 am

Yep he was a US Senator and before that a state senator for 11 years. These people can’t even keep their lies straight.

      • June 13, 2012 at 12:18 pm

To “not say anything” goes for the common person, not for a reporter and supposed journalist. It’s their job to hold their feet to the fire.

He really is no different from Donald Trump…same overblown ego and self-importance…self-serving with an incredibly awful choice of friends and presidential picks…

I have known Jim Rogers well for years and he is a hateful, nasty person. He is an extreme libertarian, and Soros will not comment on him. The word is Soros cannot stand him. Rogers had children late in life and moved his family to Singapore where he now lives. He believes there is no future for the US. For CNN to interview him proves it has gone full teabagger.

okay, with all the pedophilia that has been exposed in the Catholic church, I had pretty much begun to ignore all things Catholic. But this? This is TOO COOL FOR SCHOOL!!!

I have to admit…. as a child, nuns scared the shit out of me. I’m not Catholic and I’m old enough to remember when nuns wore the whole outfit. the long black dress with the head tent thingy. (I mean no disrespect, I just don’t know what it’s called. If I said it wasn’t as big as Sister Bertril’s on that TV show, would any of you know what the heck I’m talking about?? )

Anyway, as a little girl, they were scary to me. I didn’t think that they had feet, so I couldn’t figure out how they walked. They wore wedding rings, but they weren’t married. It was all very confusing to this little Baptist girl. I’ve grown up a bit, (I hope….. tee hee)

So these “Nuns on the bus” are a bit rebellious. I love it!! They actually care about real people with real issues. Wow, imagine that??

I went to an 8th grade graduation at a Catholic school last week and I was so afraid I was going to have to leave in a huff. The priest only told the graduates to go out and care about those less fortunate and make their lives better.

I have friends with children in another Catholic school and they have gone batshit crazy at this church. So I was very pleased to see common sense social justice from this little middle class Catholic school and church in the middle of Chicago.

LOL Of The Week: Mitt Romney Looks A ‘Gaffehorse’ In The Mouth

    ———————

Now we all know that Mitt wants fewer firemen, fewer policemen, fewer teacher. This will help the American people? And this was the lesson of Wisconsin? That’s like being born on third base and thinking the lesson is you hit a triple.

Here are the real lessons of Wisconsin:

    Don’t get outspent 10-to-1
    Start attacking early
Don’t initiate a recall without a charismatic alternative
    Move to the center

Bill Clinton, Al Gore, and Bill Gates went to heaven to meet their maker.

The supreme deity turned to Al and asked: “Tell what is important about yourself.” Al responded that he felt that the earth was the ultimate importance and that protecting the earth’s ecological system was most important. God looked to Al and said, “I like the way you think, come and sit at my left hand.”

God then asked Bill Clinton what he revered most. Bill Clinton responded that he felt people and their personal choices were most important. God responded, “I like the way you think, come and sit at my right hand.”

God then turned to Bill Gates, who was staring at him indignantly. God asked “What is your problem Bill Gates?” Bill Gates responded “You are sitting in my chair!”

Mark Knoller knows damn well that Powell didn’t endorse Obama until LATE OCTOBER 2008. Yet in June of 2012, he’s busy tweeting about Powell’s currently undecided state as if that should be an issue of concern to anyone.

    • 84 57andfemale
      June 13, 2012 at 9:03 am

Well he wasn’t the official candidate yet in 2008. PBO is now the official President. Powell’s a spineless asshole and that’s all there is to it. Knoller is a giant asshole but he’s technically correct on this one.

      • 85 hopefruit2
        June 13, 2012 at 9:09 am

PBO had been the official candidate well before Oct 2008. The DNC convention was in late August 2008.

      • 86 Bill
        June 13, 2012 at 9:25 am

57, I don’t think there is any doubt Powell will endorse PBO. His thinking might be by waiting until October his announcement would be more effective with the undecided. When he made his endorsement late in 2008 on MTP it was big news. If he made it now it would be one of many. PBO and Powell seem very close, and I think Powell would do whatever the campaign thinks would be most effective.

        • 87 57andfemale
          June 13, 2012 at 9:41 am

I think his statements have been destructive. He doesn’t understand why King Obama hasn’t magically fixed the economy, without even a cursory nod toward Republican obstruction. He says he wants to hear what Romney’s solutions are. This isn’t a case of waiting for maximum positive impact. And allowing this to dangle as an insult to PBO is not helpful. Not necessarily harmful, but certainly not helpful.

Eff Colin Powell. If he’s that stupid (and he truly may be), if he is that lacking in character to publicly consider giving the keys back to Bush’s policies on steroids, then I’m appalled.

i’m not sure about that. i watched his recent interview on the daily show, and he’s still covering for the bush fiascos. also, he’s trying to inflate the reagan mythology–he seems to actually believe the crap coming out of his mouth. if he and pbo are close, it sure didn’t look like it. and don’t think it was because jon stewart was pushing him in that direction–it was just the opposite.

    • 91 anniebella

We need to contact Congress and ask where are the jobs bills? We need to call, email, tweet a Republican Congressman and ask them, if our economy is so important, then why aren’t they doing a dam thing to help the economy. Going after AG Holder won’t help one American fine work.

  21. June 13, 2012 at 9:02 am

found this in the comments at POU:

    Elie

Every American should be insanely worried about a Romney win.

Mitt Romney in his desperate obsession to fly on Air Force One and Anne’s dream to be idle but adored first lady, has made innumerable pacts with the devil and every one of satan’s sons, daughters, in-laws and cohorts.
A scary collection of crazy megalomaniacs and the most insane and destructive egos.

This is a recipe not only for disaster but certain destruction for this country and the world because there is just no way this weak, narcissitic weasel can juggle or deliver on the competing agendas of and election promises to his many wealthy dubious and egomaniacal benefactors.

Mitt Romney will never be able to simultaneously massage the many overblown egos that make up his base or meet the varying, divergent and competing demands and agendas of the Dick Cheneys, Donald Trumps, Sheldon Adelsons, David and Charles Kochs, Jamie Dimons, Rush Limbaughs, David Dukes, the Mormon church etc.

And if just one of these benefactors ever feels neglected, slighted or overlooked, there will be hell to pay.

America and its middle class and poor will be the losers and at the receiving end when these fellas decide to teach Mitt Romney a lesson or two.

Mitt Romney won’t care by then because he and Anne would already have what they’ve aspired to: the highest office in the land – and flying on Air force One.

It is evident that Mitt Romney will be content with just one term. He just wants to be president even if for one day.

    • 93 57andfemale
      June 13, 2012 at 9:06 am

So the giant asshole that is Romney’s ‘energy advisor’ is advocating for more government subsidies for oil companies.

He became the official ‘advisor’ right after he gave some insane amount of money — I think it was 1M but I may be wrong about that — to a Romney superPAC.

But that’s free speech. Until CU, that was considered bribery.

I haven’t seen this treasonous a Supreme Court since before the Civil War.

This election is really a matchup between Obama and Bush

    By Jonathan Bernstein

    ——————————–

So certainly you can expect more skirmishes over the candidates’ platforms, and perhaps even some serious debate about issues such as whether state and local governments should be spending more or less right now. But the overriding imperative for the Obama campaign has to be to push voters to see the current economy, weak as it is, as much better than the one he inherited from Bush. Meanwhile, the overriding imperative for Team Romney has to be to induce as much amnesia as they can about how — and when — all this trouble started. Whoever wins that messaging battle will probably be the next president.

    What Mitt Romney is Hiding

    By LOLGOP

    ———————

Let’s look at a list of what Mitt is hiding from the people he hopes will make him the most powerful man in the free world.

Tax returns, 2011 specifically and the 23 years of returns he apparently showed to the McCain campaign

The names of his secret bundlers who are raising millions on his behalf, breaking a bipartisan tradition of listing the names of these individuals who would have tremendous influence in a Romney Administration

Digital records from his time as governor, all of which have been erased

The names of the cabinet-level departments he’d eliminate

A complete list of the tax deductions he’d eliminate to pay for another 15% tax break on top of the already unaffordable Bush tax breaks

An actual plan to reduce the deficit

An actual plan to improve the economy and create jobs

Mitt Romney Campaign Keeps Many Secrets, Unless Required By Law

    ———————-

On the campaign trail this year, Romney’s aides have at times tried to limit reporters from approaching him when he shakes hands with voters at events. And his aides often don’t allow a camera and microphone on stage to record those interactions – though that’s been customary in past campaigns.

Also, Romney’s schedule is closely held – and his campaign typically won’t say what he’s doing when he’s not at one of the few public events he holds each week. Even public appearances often are announced less than a day in advance – or not at all. Recently he rode to the site of the failed energy company Solyndra on the unmarked press bus, leaving the logo-plastered Romney for President bus behind at his hotel. Aides said the campaign was concerned the Obama administration would work with local officials to prevent Romney from holding an event there.

Mittens Doesn’t Seem To Understand Why We Have A Problem With Pre-Existing Conditions

    ————————————-

This is where having a one-percenter running for president really begins to show the differences. Willard is saying he would replace Obamacare with a law that would make sure those with preexisting conditions can still get coverage. He’s apparently unaware we already have such a law (HIPAA), which permits you to lose or change jobs without jeopardizing your ability to maintain coverage, because he’s never lived in that world and seems to have paid little or no attention to how the rest of us live.

So he’s offering to fix something that doesn’t need fixing. The problem is not keeping the coverage: The problem is the cost of the coverage, which insurers are free to jack into the stratosphere on the basis of your preexisting condition. “What’s the big deal, can’t you just write a check?” Just another example of what it’s like to live on Mt. Olympus:

WASHINGTON — A critical document from President Barack Obama’s free trade negotiations with eight Pacific nations was leaked online early Wednesday morning, revealing that the administration intends to bestow radical new political powers upon multinational corporations, contradicting prior promises.

The leaked document has been posted on the website of Public Citizen, a long-time critic of the administration’s trade objectives. The new leak follows substantial controversy surrounding the secrecy of the talks, in which some members of Congress have complained they are not being given the same access to trade documents that corporate officials receive.

“The outrageous stuff in this leaked text may well be why U.S. trade officials have been so extremely secretive about these past two years of [trade] negotiations,” said Lori Wallach, director of Public Citizen’s Global Trade Watch in a written statement.

Please. I went there and HuffPuff is doing their usual negative sensationalizing headlines. Read the article. It’s a bunch of people pissed off before ANYTHING has been proposed or adopted.

      As want comment read:

“Here we go again the MSM owned by ubber rich WHITE folk (male, hetero Christians) shouting fire when there is none. Another Obama attack article screaming fire in the theater. It says “American corporations would continue to be subject to domestic laws and regulations on the environment, banking and other issues”. Foreign corporations would be subject to those same laws and regulations in addition to the laws and regulations of their native governments. In cases where the American laws and regulations are in conflict with their government’s laws, an “international tribunal”, where the US will have a seat and power. Will make a decision on the matter. And, that decision will be legally honored by the US government, regardless of which political party is in power.”

How Dark-Money Groups Sneak By the Taxman

    By Gavin Aronsen

    ——————–

Here at Mother Jones we talk about “dark money” to broadly describe the flood of unlimited spending behind this year’s election. But the truly dark money in 2012 is being raised and spent by tax-exempt groups that aren’t required to disclose their financial backers even as they funnel anonymous cash to super-PACs and run election ads.

Are Republican Contempt Allegations Payback For Eric Holder’s Defense of Voting Rights?

These actions by the Republican members of Congress, at least one of whom is in a leadership position, can be designed for no purpose other than to undermine the attorney general at a minimum and, at a maximum, stop his efforts to uphold voting rights. If the Republicans are able to accomplish the latter, it will be virtually impossible for the Department of Justice working under an acting attorney general to stop what is going on in the states in time to ensure a legitimate election in November.

This b.s. started before Holder began his crackdown on voter suppression.

No, this is just Issa and his mob looking for ‘corruption’ in the most ‘corrupt administration’ he’s ever seen. Just trying to create a meme to hurt PBO and leave us without an AG at all. because no one will get confirmed.

Now I don’t know how far these jackasses will go, but CW is that they could put it in motion but nothing would happen for years because there are serious legal maneuverings. Remember they’ve accused him of perjury and you actually have to have facts to make a claim like that. Holder’s response yesterday in the Senate was excellent. There is no requirement that Congress has rights over the administration; and there is a paper trail of Holder’s office saying, let’s discuss what other documents you need and Issa not responding.

And if we’re going to go to ‘perjury’, then John Roberts committed serious perjury in his confirmation hearings.

    Morning everyone

I read something good last night! Oh so good……….it’s about MSNBC. The so called 100% liberal station now that Ratigan is leaving…what a joke….or how many say that MSNBC is the liberal version of FOX.

The only reason why MSNBC hired liberal hosts was on account of the success Olbermann had…so they wanted to grab that market.

    THIS x100

”The irony or perhaps the futility of all of this is is that the second half of MSNBC’s day is spent refuting much of the right wing propaganda it broadcasts in the first half of its day.”

      Good Morning all.

MSNBC is painful to watch but I can get it online and it’s the least awful of what I can link to since I am OS- can anyone please help me out with a direct online stream to Current? I would be very grateful of any help/advice as I would like to watch Bill Press. At first I couldn’t bear to watch MJoe and Dylan but now I can only tolerate Martin, Al, Ed ( I have a soft spot for Tweety just because he so obviously still man crushes on PBO – yes even after some of his more troll concern like segments and LOD – Rachel is on/off for me – a little too smug in the Hayes/Klein ‘ I’m th esmartest person in the room’ cabal. I’d rather Tweety’s pure emotion actually – it’s a little more real and less phony to me.

      Thank you.

      • 126 57andfemale
        June 13, 2012 at 10:24 am

for some inexplicable reason, Current does not have live streaming. I am not one to support Olbermann, but it was one of his beefs with Current. I simply don’t understand it.

The morning line-up is good although Bill Press can be a jerk sometimes. Jennifer Granholm is great. But then there’s Cenk and Elliott Spitzer is a complete jackass — don’t blame PBO because you couldn’t behave yourself and blew your political career. I love these jackasses who blow up their careers over prostitutes and the like, and then pontificate on how much better they would do the job of President. And yes, I’m talking to YOU, Bill Clinton and Spitzer.

So although there is a lot of good stuff on Current there’s emprog stuff too. I love this ‘independence’.

Thanks for that. Yes – Cenk is a pain but I would love to see Bil Press steam over MJoe – the stuff thet comes out of JS’s mouth with no pushback from Mika is shameful – I always wonder how her brilliant father can bear to watch her humiliate herself like that professionally.

He just thinks he’s entitled to be president. Doesn’t matter he’s not qualified. I’m sure this is how his entire life has been where things have just been handed to him. I’m sure he was shocked when he was rejected by voters in all the other races he’s lost. Well, he’s about to add another loss to that column in November.

Good morning shipmates. Another day above ground is a wonderful thing. I got another e-mail I’d like to share, if I haven’t already.

    Aging List

God grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway, the good fortune to run into the ones I do, and the eyesight to tell the difference.

Now that I’m “older” (but refuse to grow up), here’s what I’ve discovered:

    1. I started out with nothing, and I still have most of it.

    2. My wild oats have turned into prunes and All Bran.

    3. I finally got my head together; now my body is falling apart.

    4. Funny, I don’t remember being absent-minded.

    5. All reports are in; life is now officially unfair.

    6. If all is not lost, where is it?

    7. It is easier to get older than it is to get wiser.

    8. Some days you’re the dog; some days you’re the hydrant.

    9. I wish the buck stopped here; I sure could use a few.

    10. Kids in the back seat cause accidents.

    11. Accidents in the back seat cause kids.

    12. It’s hard to make a comeback when you haven’t been anywhere.

    13. The only time the world beats a path to your door is when you’re in the bathroom.

    14. If God wanted me to touch my toes, he would have put them on my knees.

    15. When I’m finally holding all the cards, why does everyone decide to play chess?

    16. It’s not hard to meet expenses … they’re everywhere.

    17. The only difference between a rut and a grave is the depth.

    18. These days, I spend a lot of time thinking about the hereafter I go somewhere to get something and then wonder what I’m here after.

    19. I AM UNABLE TO REMEMBER IF I HAVE MAILED THIS TO YOU OR NOT!!!

    20. Funny, I don’t remember being … absent-minded.

Now I think you’re supposed to send this to 5 or 6, maybe 10. Oh, send it to a bunch of your friends if you can remember who they are.

Then something is supposed to happen, I think. Maybe you get your memory back.

    Good morning Chips.
    Good morning TOD.

I was watching Stephanie Miller who was talking about the sham the health care insurance companies are now perpetrating. This whole thing about being able to keep some provisions in the ACA if it is struck down is simply giving the ok to SCOTUS if they decide to strike down the ACA. Stephanie was speaking on the phone with her news person, Jackie, who referenced an article about this ruse at Huffington Post. So I went to Huffington Post to read the article. (I never go to HuffPuff)). And my god. They must have used the largest font available as a negative headline about President Obama. Needless to say I threw up a little in my mouth and I certainly didn’t look for the article. Anyway, I’ll do a little research to see if I can find a credible source about these insurance companies.

    • 168 57andfemale
      June 13, 2012 at 11:47 am

Jackie Schechner is one of the few reporters who actually knows something about ACA.

The decision has been made by SCOTUS. It was made a few days after oral arguments. There are opportunities to discuss and it is possible that minds were changed. But the lion’s share of the writing of the opinions is done by now so none of the posturing makes a damned bit of difference now. From either side. It’s too late to affect the Supreme Court decision.

Which is why there should have been a better effort to sell the importance of this bill and how it was going to work in 2014 for the last two years.

First of all, the article that I think you got your info from (which is clearly pro-Romney) talks about the President’s drop in approvals based on their poll, but no where do they link the poll where people can decipher for themselves the actual numbers, crosstabs, demographic breakdowns, etc. The entire article is all a bunch of nonsensical spin, spin spin…the usual – GOP talking points, doom narratives for Obama, etc.

“Some had tears in their eyes. Some had chills. Some tried to be dignified but couldn’t stop themselves from whooping and hollering for the leader of the free world, standing just a few feet away and telling them he was proud of them.

To Antoine Smith, graduating from Science Leadership Academy on Monday night and then being in the same room with President Obama on Tuesday night was “surreal.”

“I was thinking, ‘Yo, that’s the man who runs things. This is the dude who runs everything,’ ” said Smith, 18, who is headed to Delaware State University in the fall.

Here is my problem with the jittery lefties. Whenever they smell problem or see things not going as they may want, they quickly scatter around and to their respectively interest groups and firing from all cylinders at the Obama Team. The Clinton group would start. Then quickly followed by Carville, the Progleft, then the supportes join in, helping the national media do their best to continue their lovefest of trashing pres Obama and his team. Every thing they do gets to be analyzed with 180 degree of nothing but negativity. The right wingers media echo chamber has never stopped, ever, since 2007. They held a meeting on Jan 20, 2009 to delegitamize and defeat pres Obama. Gingrich pretty much admitted so on Politics Nation last night.

Chill and stop joining the media firing squad. It is NOT healthy. 2009, 2010, 2011 summers and now we are starting again. Folks remember what was happening the Summer of 2008? The media was allowing lies and ads by McCain to dominate their coverage and dialogue, until Joy Baher asked McCain why he was lying on national TV.

Clinton had problems in the 1990s, but AAs and most Dems had his back. But with pres Obama, it is, we politically cut him to pieces 1st and foremost. Then when he is riding in the polls we quickly jump right back in, like him again? He is Not Cesar. We are not his Brutus. Give pres Obama your support and stop the constant bull crap. It is so getting old.

Please those who tweet, FaceBook, etc….help spread the news for the bashing to stop. It makes phone banking really harder.

Bob, glad to see you here this morning:) If you check the last thread, Dudette and others were coming up with more people/”news orgs” to Tweet that Thom Hartmann video to. This MUST be all over the place!

I thought of more, and maybe others could add to the list. The entire Twitter brigade should take up this cause….Dudette had posted the addresses and she also suggested to send them to everyone on Chips media link. (good idea) I thought of these

@JeffersonObama, Bill Moyers,20/20, Dateline,60 Minutes,David Schuster,Jennifer Granholm,Lawrence O’D,@randiradio….and how about the TV stations and newspapers in the states of the 14 men that sat and planned this treason???? Just sayin’!!

Good Morning/Afternoon Chips and my TOD Family. I was reading your comments and I appreciate the information, however, I do not understand why there are links to those sites that have all of this negative chatters garbage about President Obama. I realize, and so does the president that he is not a perfect man or a perfect president. He has told us that, but he also said, “But I will always tell the American people what I think.” Now, we have heard him say this to us, so why can’t we listen to him and believe him?

I also remember Chips asking all of us to not bring the negative stuff to our home here. Why can’t we respect her request? I can’t understand that at all. I am sure there are so many places out there that would welcome this negative garbage about POB, but as I recall ,when I first came here, Chips told us what the purpose of this site would be. To support President Barack Obama. Have we forgotten that?

There is so much greatestness to be said about, and is constantly happening ,that we can and should be focused on regarding POTUS. If we do not highligh it, then who do you think will? Remember my TOD Family, this is family, and a great one at that. And Great Families do not bring into their households those things that will hurt, cause another family member to fall, or wound the very head of the household by bringing into our house what the house down the streets is doing to destroy their family.

I may be told to leave, but that will be fine as well. I will hold no malice in my heart ,because I do not allow that to enter into my space. However, we might need to remember that respect of this beautiful site and to Chips and most of all to our President should be very high on our list. We do not need to bring the negative garbage about President Obama here. Just my thoughts.

Chips, please forgive me, but I am trying to understand why we would allow our minds and hearts to be fill with painful and ugly headlines, etc., about a great President who suffers daily to this garbage, and then have to come to a place where we call our TOD and read it also. Oh, yes, we do get visitors from his team. Count on it. Yes, we have freedoms, but when other people , and we know it are just constantly trying to bring down this President, why would we listen to them, especially when these negative articles have no room for what we are trying to accomplish. Let us just respect our space here.

My comments are not posted to hurt, wound, or prolong some type of conversation that we do not have the precious time to spend on, but I do believe that we love each other so much, that we will remember to guard our home with a little more care and respect. I still love everyone of you, and this little senior will not be hurt. I am too old and happy to be trying to take care of another wound, so stop pouting and make your HZ some lunch and bring it to me. I am hungry now. I am serious. ((((((((((((((((((( I really do love you all so very much))))))))))))))))))))))HZ

So many seniors are talking with their grand kids, and great nieces and nephews on this matter, for sure, so I think that it is important to send out the news to them as well.

Many of the great nieces and great nephews are so amazed at the knowledge that is being passed between seniors. My great-niece sent me a text the other day about the student loans. She was so happy to see how so many seniors are trying to make a difference for them. She has students loans from her grad work days, and still can’t make the salary to even come close to what she paid to get the degree. However, I am not ungrateful because she is still working her little heart out, but I do feel for so many of the students. I hope and pray that my little help will help them in the future.HZ

This President nominated a Puerto Rican to be Ambassador to El Savador. But, he is an evil Liberal, so…
Rubio freaked out and reportedly wanted a filibuster.
He had votes lined up, but he was going to vote present, for obvious reasons.
One of those he had lined up, in order to filibuster was Kirk, but he cannot vote.
So, Reid is forcing a Vite in that nomination today, to compell Rubio to vote against a Puerto Rican Ambassador nominee.

Regarding polls…..what I learned in 2008, was that polls were all over the place before about October. At that time, polls seemed to become sensible. The only polls I learned to trust were the Obama campaign’s internal polls, for good or ill, those were accurate. I believe that will be the same this year. I know they are doing their own polling, and I don’t see any signs of panic from them.
We keep fighting and pushing back, but don’t trust all polls the same, and don’t get panicked by them. I truly believe that people are beginning to wake up to Romney and his lies, and the trash that’s coming from the right.
I remember what FLOTUS said about the state dinners: We’re like swans; on top everything looks smooth, but under the water, we’re pedaling like mad.” I know that underneath the surface, the President’s committee is pedaling like mad, and have operatives all over the place.

Love how AG Holder goes all homie don’t play that on John Coryn!

Senator John Cornyn demands AG Holder resign, Holder gives epic smack-down response

Yesterday, during his ninth appearance before Congress regarding the “Fast and Furious” debacle (read more about that HERE), Senator John Cornyn, Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee asked Attorney General Eric Holder to resign, saying he hoped President Obama would replace him…

So after Coryn’s bit, Holder’s responds

Holder: With all due respect, senator, there is so much that is factually wrong with the premises that you started your statement with, it’s almost breathtaking in its inaccuracy, but, I’ll simply leave it at that…

If you want to talk about Fast and Furious, I’m the attorney general that put an end to the misguided tactics that were used in Fast and Furious. An attorney general whom I suppose you would hold in higher regard was briefed on these kinds of tactics in an operation called “Wide Receiver” and did nothing to stop them. Nothing. Three hundred guns, at least, “walked” in that instance.

I’m also the attorney general who called on an inspector general to look into this matter, to investigate this matter. I’m also the attorney general who made personnel changes at ATF and in the U.S. Attorneys office that was involved, have overseen the changes of processes and procedures within ATF to make sure that this doesn’t happen ever again.

So I don’t have any intention of resigning. I heard the White House press officer say yesterday that the president has absolute confidence in me. I don’t have any reason to believe that in fact is not the case.

And in terms of, you know, what is it that we have turned over to Congress in this regard, let’s put something on the record here. … We have collected data from 240 custodians, we have processed millions of electronic records, looked at over 140,000 documents, turned over 7,600 pages. Over the course of 46 separate productions, we have made available people from the department at the highest levels to be interviewed.
And I’ve also said…to the extent that all of that is not enough to satisfy the concerns… I am willing to sit down and talk about the provision of more materials. I have sent letters in that regard, the deputy attorney general has sent letters … and have not had responses. Which leads me to believe that the desire here is not for an accommodation but for a political point-making. And that is the kind of thing that, you know, you and and your side, I guess, have the ability to do if that’s what you want to do. It is the kind of thing that I think turns people off about Washington. While we have very serious problems, we still have this political gamesmanship.

President Obama’s mythical black voter problem — in three charts

A new North Carolina poll conducted by the automated pollster (and Democratic affiliated) Public Policy Polling has set the political world on its head — suggested that not only has former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney made up significant ground on President Obama in the swing state but that the incumbent is losing roughly one in every five black voters in the Tarheel State.

Here’s the problem: There’s no evidence — outside of this single PPP poll — that Obama is suffering any significant erosion among African American voters.

The story of Obama’s continued — and sustained — strength in the black community can be told in three charts, all of which examine Washington Post-ABC News polling conducted over the first three-plus years of Obama’s presidency. (HUGE thanks to the Post polling team for building out these charts; do yourself a favor and follow them on Twitter @postpolls.)

The first chart details President Obama’s job approval rating among African Americans — by quarter — since coming into office. While there have been slight dips over the years, his approval rating has never gone below 85 percent and currently stands at 90 percent, just six percent lower than in Obama’s first three months on office.

This is completely off thread, but I was just listening to this song on my itunes playlist and it occurred to me that many of you here at TOD may appreciate it as well. It is a song Bruce Springstein sings in honor of Harry Chapin. Bruce speaks at the very beginning of the song telling how meeting Harry Chapin influenced his life and contributed to his philanthropy. Bruce speaks again before the song finishes and he closes with these powerful words “Do something and may this song be sung.” It makes me think of this campaign season ahead of us and the need for President Barack Obama supporters to “do something” whether it be big or small. We can all do something such as donate to the campaign, make calls, shake hands, knock on doors, register voters, set up a fundraising page, put a bumper sticker on your car and/or bicycle, wear a Barack Obama pin, share links on Facebook and twitter, help to get the truth out to dispel lies from the Romney campaign or even just be a positive hopeful kind person who will vote and who will represent the positive, hopeful message that is President Barack Obama. Regards to you all.

You know how we are always saying that we wish PBO didn’t have to do everything himself. Well, I have been trying to think of things that the campaign could do over the summer to pump up energy (especially by the youth) into the campaign. I want our youth to do more than go to rallies to watch the President speak. I want them fully engaged. One of the ideas that I tweeted to the campaign earlier this week was to have some of the local and big name musical artist that support the President give free voter registration rally concerts for the public. They could have voter registration booths setup throughout the area/stadium/hall or wherever to register voters. The entire focus of the concert would be about getting all those people in attendance registered and committed to vote in November.

This would be a way to shift some of the burden off of PBO and onto some of these mega-stars or local stars that can also inspire our youth to be involved in one of the most critical elections of their young lives.

Wouldn’t it be great to see every single battleground state have at least one of these concerts this summer or fall? Now I realize that we have stars that are visiting campuses and giving speeches on behalf of the campaign. I just think that the people who attend those events are already engaged. These concerts would attract people who aren’t necessarily paying attention to the election but once they get there and see the energy and the support of the President would have some desire to be involved. If not as a volunteer at least as a committed, prepared voter.

I plan to send this idea to my RFD for Maryland. Can you think of any other ideas where we can engage a lot of people and get them involved?

It should be “Lots of other folks and I.” Without the “and lots of other folks” it would b “me will do whatever you want.! Isn’t that the level of a three year old???? That shows complete ignorance and slovenliness.
