Morning everyone. I’m still waaaaaaaaaay behind in answering emails, things are still busy, but I’ll try to catch up over the weekend.
Volunteers at the OFA office in Exeter, NH make signs for the DNC's Romney Economics Bus Tour. We'll tweet about our tour at #RomneyRoadShow— Brad Woodhouse (@woodhouseb) June 15, 2012
Congrats Jovie on #1!
Yay! This bus Tour we all should follow and update throughout day! DNC is going to make a mockery out of Robney Camp!
A picture of our DNC Bus just leaving NH following Willard-
Would you look who’s first? Morning Jovie! I was trying to think what pic you’d like, so I reckoned this one would work – our shared passion:
Looked just like my Baby about 8 years ago.
She is still a pretty Girl, and a sweet Dog.
Thanks for picture!
What a cute puppy!
Why are baby dogs/mammals so cute? Meanwhile, baby reptiles are not so cute.
see, this is a cute animal pic. John Cole’s animal pics over at BJ always scare me…LOL
Good job being first, Jovie!
Congrats on first, Jovie!
I love FLOTUS’s dress!
Mornin’ Chips! What happened to my Richard Wolfe tweet?!?!? I would have sworn I posted a Wolfe tweet below and instead a Barack Obama tweet appears?!?!? LOL! Am I in Twilight Zone? Please advise!
I saw your Wolffe tweet. It was on the other thread. I Rt’d it.
So true hopefruit2, so true. 4 more years.
FLOTUS and POTUS looks good.
POTUS: “If you believe this economy grows best when everybody gets a fair shot … I ask you to stand with me for a second term as President.”— Barack Obama (@BarackObama) June 15, 2012
We are! The Hand Wringing Democrats are from Liberal Beltway and Wall Street elites.
They are about .1% of the total Vote.
The Grass roots have your Back, Mr President.
Right on, Jovie. And before this week ends, I want to thank you for all the news you bring to this site. You stick your neck out every day and I really admire that. Even if we sometimes nettle each other, we all make a good team. And by the way, I appreciate your service to our country.
Wait a minute…that’s not the tweet I had intended to post…ooops
But I guess it’s a relevant and welcome tweet!
Good morning all.
Here are the OFA Kids making signs for DNC bus tour-
Good Morning everyone. Very busy day so I will leave you with this:
Good Morning, TODville! This is the new looking-in-before-work-experiment started yesterday. Am I disciplined enough to check out with time enough to get to work on time? It worked yesterday, just barely.
ps. Had comment all ready, then had to rush to get ready and forgot to turn off laptop. Passing by to leave & saw it was still on. If I get fired today it will be all Chips fault. (Way to pass the buck!)
Have a wonderful Friday, TODobots!
You’re so funny:) You won’t get fired today…..! Morning everyone. Happy Friday!!!!
This one rates at the top of the First World Dilemma list, VC, it can be managed, sometimes. Discipline is the right word!
It’s Friday! Gooooood morning!
Matt Lauer is obsessed with teenagers and their activities. He has 3 tweets in total and they are all about Justin Beiber. He interviewed PBO once and spent the first half of the very short interview asking the President about whether the Sasha/Malia had some adult footballer’s poster on their wall.
Grow up Matt.
Well, when 1-10 top tv ratings are reality shows, the News attempts to copy and paste their successes by mockery!
It does not work, because News is to inform!
Can we say juvenile? How old is Matt Lauer anyway?
So, what member of the press will ask this obvious question???
Good question, df. I also have another question I think Romney and Republicans need to be asked: If the moneyed people, who deserve tax give aways, are job creators how come they are sitting on record amounts of money and haven’t invested it in creating jobs?
Obama’s Govt. regulations will be the answer. Bogus, but there you have it.
Bill Press just said that the Democrats he Knows are throwing in the Towel, as in we lost.
He says, grow a pair and fight, this is June.
What Democrats is he referring to?
Jonathan Alter, Donnie Deutch, Rendell, Carville, etc? Really? People on tv with an agenda, reading RNC emails? Really?
They don’t speak for me.
Press is a lefty loon
I guess Bill Press doesn’t know any real Democrats. This is nonsense.
Bill Press has always been a whiner. He complained constantly during the last campaign. I quit listening to him back then and never went back.
I heard him. I found this actually positive — oh stop publicly whining, you lefty loons, and just get to work.
You don’t roll out the entire campaign all at once. Not everyone lives and breathes this stuff, for God’s sake.
Now here’s an idea — stop putting Rendell, Alter, Carville and rest as the only voices of the Democratic Party. That goes for every alleged progressive host.
57, I had the same reaction as you.
Hey, Bill Press can go off the rails and certainly has some guests that do not deserve airtime on a progressive show, but I didn’t think this particular comment fit that mold. I think he was spot-on.
You’d think he’s be a little smarter than that. You’d think…but, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Paging all pundits: you might just be wrong about economic gloom. 49% say their local economy is good or excellent. gallup.com/poll/155192/Am…— Richard Wolffe (@richardwolffedc) June 15, 2012
If y’all have been walking around all sad because you haven’t seen enough of John McCain lately, you’re in luck! He’ll be on MTP this weekend! Someone new and different!!! Balanced by Plouffe, but could ol’ bitter man McCain have possibly been invited because he’s been extra loud and extra outspoken in his criticism of President Obama recently? Do ya ‘spose?
Dump GOP shill Gregory!
Beltway media still mad McCain lost!
Thanks for the reminder dotster3. I’ll be sure to set my DVR, or better yet just park myself in front of the TV for the entire day on Sunday!
Unless he traveling on junkets unlike most Senators and Congress Members McCain is in DC on weekends. I heard him say a few weeks ago that he has been to Burma twice recently. He was in Cartagena, Colombia the weekend Gabby Giffords was shot. He is often in the middle east, Who knows what the purpose of all these trips are, but otherwise in his in DC for the Sunday shows. Cindy must not want him in Arizona on weekends.
Cindy doesn’t want him around. He has a townhouse in Virginia and stays there most of the time.
Howdy doodie O peeps!!! Just as promised, another great getting up day again in TOD-town. Waiting for PBO and the ladies to arrive back in Chi-town. How cool for the FDOTUS to see their old neighborhood/school friends again. Since the little ones will be with him this visit, I guess I’ll behave this time.
My political take today is that if you notice, all the talk by the pundits and MSM was about PBO’s speech. It was looped and critiqued just on about every station. Meanwhile, Mitt’s speech got a very brief mention and little to no clips. To me this is a good thing. People are talking about what PBO said. Folks who hear it will draw their own conclusions, regardless of how the pundits frame it. Mitt gets no coverage, for two reasons, he had nothing to say, and what he did say wasn’t news worthy. btw, PBO was at the fundraisers given by Sarah Jessica Parker, Alicia Keyes, and Mariah Carey. Mitt was surrounded at his fundraiser in Chicago by the Mr. Whipple of ‘don’t squeeze the Charmin’ type glamor.
Americans See Obama as Solid Favorite to Win Election.
// PRINCETON, NJ — Fifty-six percent of Americans think Barack Obama will win the 2012 presidential election, compared with 36% who think Mitt Romney will win. Democrats are more likely to believe that Obama will win than Republicans are to believe Romney will. Independents are nearly twice as likely to think that Obama, rather than Romney, will prevail. //
Boy, there sure is a lot of doom and gloom out there…not.
Tweet this to brad woodhouse for talking points.
Story on the fundraisers, but an amusing photo of where people were standing awaiting the presidential motorcade. Good balancing skills.
Ha !.. I love that the article did not mention Christie as being in attendance at the WTC
HAHA! That picture is very funny..the things that people will do to catch a glimpse of the President.
How stylish is FLOTUS’s outfit? Wow. I love it!
Another knockout! She has amazing style!
House Dem leader Pelosi confident high court will rule for health care law, predicts 6-3 vote: apne.ws/KGHUKB -CJ— The Associated Press (@AP) June 15, 2012
Maybe She got a leak? If I was Her, I would ask a Staffer of One of the Liberal Judges!
They must know already!
I don’t think she has a leak. She’s been saying this for a long while. Made a speech at the Commonwealth Club here weeks ago and said it.
I agree. There is no leak. This has been Pelosi’s position throughout. I’m not that certain.
Lawrence O’Donnell did a terrific segment on Willard’s draft dodging last night in the REWRITE segment.
Yes – that was absolutely masterful. One of his greatest rewrite segments. I really like LOD – he seems such a moral person in the absolute best way.
A curious fact about Jonathan Alter. He is originally from Chicago and his MOTHER was one of PBOs earliest supporters – I mean really, really early. And Jonathan has been so positive about him in the past but something weirdly personal may have happened because he has seemed much more hostile these past few months.
Probably wanted more access for a book and they said no. Who knows. I don’t listen to Alter or any of these so-called liberal pundits who won’t write about Mitt’s lies, but want to pile on the president. There’s so much damage GOP has done to be covered than going after the president.
He may be trying out for Bashir’s spot. But he also has cancer and he may have a recurring episode. I am trying to give hime the benefit of the doubt. Who know what really is going on with him. He has been all over the place lately.
Given that Bashir is the most consistently vocal and passionate (and blunt) Obama supporting host on MSNBC, it doesn’t seem like a smart strategy to be anti-Obama when trying to get Bashir’s spot.
Well, he needs to keep his personal shite out of his observations. Makes him look like a whining idiot who only wants to be on tv..
If Willard were a Democrat imagine what the swiftboaters would do with that the last few weeks of the campaign.
The Root of Romney’s Comfort with Lying
Psychiatrist DR. Justin Frank – The same man who Analyzed Presidents Bush and Obama – has analyzed Mitt Romney – and says Romney is comfortable lying, in part, because of the way he was raised in his Mormon faith. But could the reason why Romney can’t tell the truth be something much more simple – and does it make him unfit to be President.
Thanks, rikyrah. What is he afraid of that he doesn’t honor the truth? It’s a sick way to live and I want no part of it. Nor, do I want his sickness anywhere near our White House.
What’s up with that bullying? Why is that so ingrained in him?
Wow what a loving power couple they are!
I had this screen up when someone came into my office and they stopped and said, “I’d give anything to have a man look at me the way he looks at FLOTUS”. She then went on a tirade about Romney.
I didn’t even know this person paid politics a bit of attention. She apparently has family in Detroit and she said she is constantly on them about making sure they are registered and vote this November. It blew me away. She is one of the quietest people here at the company.
You see you never know who is paying attention. Folks know the real deal even if they don’t talk about it all the time.
Good Morning TOD. TGIF!!!
Exactly. A lot of people see me with my Obama 2012 gear on my person or on my car and the people I wouldn’t think would be interested in politics or who are republicans or just quiet give me a thumbs up, say they’re definitely supporting PBO in 2012, and even if they don’t know anything, they know about Romney and Bain Capital. They know he bankrupted companies and made millions. They also know about him saying Let Detroit Go Bankrupt. This is why the beltway media was freaking out. Those Bain commercials by Obama 2012 are working. They’re working because a lot of middle-class and working class people recognize themselves in those videos and know that if Romney could be so callous to that group of people, then he could screw the nation over.
It’s all about the LOVE!!
Here is Woodhouse holding a sign-
BREAKING: Obama To Stop Deporting DREAM-Eligible Youth, Protecting 1 Million Undocumented Students
I was just going to post this, df!! Wow.
President Obama will announce a new immigration policy this morning that will allow some undocumented students to avoid deportation and receive work authorization.
Under the president’s “deferred action” executive order, students in the U.S. who are already in deportation proceedings or those who qualify for the DREAM Act and have yet to come forward to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials, will not be deported and will be allowed to work in the United States.
An estimated 1 million young people could benefit from the deferral. To be eligible, applicants have to be between 15 and 30 years old, live in the U.S. for five years, and maintain continuous U.S. residency. People who have one felony, one serious misdemeanor, or three minor misdemeanors will be ineligible to apply. “Deferred action” will last for two years and can be renewed.
Someone here said that over these next few months that PBO would role out, in a time of his choosing, things just like this! This is SO important, I think I like this plan!
Let me tell you, this will really speak deeply to the Latino community in a very big way. Whenever it’s about their children, they are IN.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Some police officers in FL have quite the sense of humor! An acrostic poem!
– And finally, the Florida Police Union included a choice message for Gov. Rick Scott in their quarterly newsletter: since Scott’s office ignored repeated requests from the local union to contribute a guest article to their newsletter, they spelled out the word “shitheads” with the first letter of each paragraph in the Executive Director’s column.

Tweet to brad woodhouse, he needs these talking points today!
President Obama is the BEST. This speaks to the Latino community in a HUGE way. This is about talented children and young adults who have done nothing wrong except love this country with all their hearts, earned an education, and want to give back to the country they love, respect, and pledge allegiance to. When Congress doesn’t act, President Obama will. This is what America should always be about. Equality, Diversity, Fairness.
We have to spread this message everywhere. This needs a huge roll out.
This is why Pres. Obama inspires a lot of people. It’s not the politician, it’s the man. It’s the fundamentally decent human being he is.
Breaking- PBO to speak on this later today. This is excellent timing and Romney will be hard pressed to attack this without further eroding his standing among Latinos.
I hope that Chips can give us more info on this…so we can see his announcement. It is a REALLY Happy Friday!!!!!
I’m actually very choked up right now. I can’t tell you how many students I had to turn away from scholarship programs who were absolutely brilliant, top of their class, who wanted to be doctors, lawyers, engineers, teachers. They are motivated and want to contribute to our society. I’m so thrilled for them.
Meta, this is exciting for me also. Every year for Martin Luther King Day our NAACP branch has an essay contest. I am one of the judges and let me tell you, some of the essays from our Latino students are just heartbreaking. They are so worried about family and friends not being allowed to stay here. Not only is this huge, it is wonderful!
Thank you for that beautiful message. xoxo
They better issue HazMat suits over at Pox Spews…. heads will be exploding today.
This doesn’t apply to me personally, but I am crying because I am so happy for many, many of my friends and their children. In one fell swoop, people will be talking about this for days to come. I have been calling everybody in the last few minutes telling them to tune in. This is a great day for us immigrants.
THANK YOU, PBO!!
America opens her arms:)
The timing of this is through the roof. Have you seen Time magazine’s new cover?
Wow. Perfect timing on Team Obama’s part to release the news today.
This won't apply to me–I'm past the age limit of 30 and under. I'm 31. But this is HUGE HUGE HUGE. #sohappy #WeAreAmericans @Time— Jose Antonio Vargas (@joseiswriting) June 15, 2012
WAKE up, DREAMers. A new day has arrived. You made this happen. Thank you and congratulations! #WeAreAmericans @defineamerican— Jose Antonio Vargas (@joseiswriting) June 15, 2012
Pinch yourselves! You’re not Dreaming anymore!!!
Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta is celebrating Pride day by thanking LGBT servicemembers (and their “families!”). Video’s after the jump. Towleroad runs the verbate:
As we recognize Pride month, I want to personally thank all of our gay and lesbian service members, LGBT civilians, and their families for their dedicated service to our country.
Before the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell,” you faithfully served your country with professionalism and courage. And just like your fellow service members, you put your country before yourself.
And now—after repeal, you can be proud of serving your country, and be proud of who you are when in uniform.
The pursuit of equality is fundamental to the American story. The successful repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” proved to the Nation that just like the country we defend, we share different backgrounds, different values, and different beliefs—but together, we are the greatest military force in the world.
That “hopey changey” thing is working out just FINE!
Let there be NO DOUBT that Republicans are rooting against the economy and AGAINST the American People!!
They are ALL SOCIOPATHS NOW!
If ” we ” have to suffer , their all for it.
Gawd….I can’t stand these people.
Hello TODville. I read the blog daily to keep up with what’s going on, but I have not commented in a very long time. A friend of mine sent me this link http://www.kochbrothersexposed.com/and I thought I would share it here. I don’t tweet, but I think it it something that should be spread far and wide, and I know that this is the place where you smart people will know what to do with this. Thanks, S4O
Hi!! Good morning Senior4Obama….oh we are all well aware of this site and these evil men! Our very own Liberal Librarian was supposed to see a screening of a Koch Bros movie last night ( I think it was last night) If you email and visit other sites, it would be a great idea to post this there. Thank you for the reminder. These people are evil on Earth, make NO mistake.
I would also send you this, and tell your friends/family NOT to purchase any of these products when they shop…it’s money that goes to feed the beast that would destroy us all.
He left out one very important piece of information…bush’s FREAKING SPENDING CAUSED THIS SHIT.
@MittRomney would veto the #DreamAct. @BarackObama announces executive order to protect #DreamAct students. Your move Mitt. HA!— (@utaustinliberal) June 15, 2012

Thank you, Bill R.!!
CNN wants you to ask Meagan McCain a question, it was on the crawl.
Where to start?
Jovie, what did you ask Meagen? I would ask her when are they going to put her mean old senile Daddy in the rest home?
Other then that Meagen McCain is qualified to ask her a question about what?
Good morning everyone. Jivie it has been on the CNN crawl this entire week. It is baffling.
Is Meagan McCain the one with the child and a reality show or is that Bristol Palin? I get them confused.
how about, ‘please clarify for us, what is your area of expertise? are you a doctor? a lawyer? a chef? we’re just not sure what to ask you about.’
Good west coast Friday morning Chipsticks & TOD family.
Congratulations Jovie on being FIRST!
Off to make this a productive day
Hmmmmm——what are your bets that Gregory will dare to ask McCain about this accusation he made on PBS——-that foreign money is involved in our presidential campaign. Sheldon Adelson who is trying to buy a war with Iran by trying to buy the election for Willard owns casinos in Singapore and Macau, as well as in U.S. and has already donated millions to the Romney campaign and stated an intention of donating as much as $100 million.
absolutely no change of that. I would bet the house. It would be an intelligent question and we can’t have that now, can we?
No CHANCE! Good grief…that Dreamers news has me all flustered!
I love Betty White! Love seeing her with POTUS

We’ve missed you:) Have a great vacation…
How fun to see your picture, you look marvelous. Thanks for all you are doing with OFA and for all the support and encouragement you provide here at the TOD family.
How about sending the Gallup poll to Bill Press.
I heard Bill Press this morning and took his comments as supporting PBO and were made in light of pundits such as Jonathan Alter and Carville. He thinks PBO will win and thinks the panic by some is ridiculous.
Yup! He was calling out the limousine liberals who are giving up!
HUGE DAY FOR ALL DREAMERS. #DreamAct Thank you Mr. President. My girlfriend called me SREAMINNNNNNG with the news. She is a supervisor at our regional OFA office in charge of Latino out reach. My volunteer work just got more easier with my Latino friends.
From Peter Hart focus group-
* Romney is credited for being a businessman. The problem is that he remains a stick figure to most of these voters: “a good family man,” “a successful businessman,” and “rich.” For all the back-and-forth on Bain Capital, nine out of the 12 participants knew nothing about this. They perceive his personality as stiff and formal, and as nobody with whom they can identify. Few would opt to go to a ballgame with him over Obama—and those who WOULD go with Romney are looking for free food and drink. If he were lost in the forest with a group of people, voters’ primary expectation for Romney’s leadership would be that “he would buy a GPS,” “have the best cell phone around,” or “call Donald Trump.” They do not perceive him as a leader or as having a program to which voters have subscribed.
Over at ABL re: MSM vs POTUS:
“Here’s my advice: The press in Washington has been underestimating President Obama for four years now, if not five. They’ll have another four years to keep trying to find the narrative when he’s still President, and they’re still Village idiots.”
Harvey Weinstein, of the Weinstein Film Company is such an Obamabot. He’s a sweetheart. He was on CBS This Morning with Charlie Rose and Gayle King. Charlie was trying to bring up the nontroversy of Harvey’s interview with Bill Clinton when Harvey subbed for Piers Morgan on CNN. Harvey shut him down. Charlie first asked him what he thought of Pres. Obama. Harvey began waxing eloquently about PBO. How great he is for the country, how he deserves another term. How the American people need to give him 4 More Years so he can continue to implement policies that will improve the economy and our standing in the world.
Charlie then asked him about fundraising for PBO. Harvey told him he’s held multiple fundraisers for PBO and he will hold more as required. Charlie then snidely suggested that Harvey had been going to a lot of fundraisers for PBO. Harvey proudly said yes that he has and he will go to a lot more fundraisers for PBO and gladly pay whatever fee is required to attend the fundraisers.
Charlie then tried to intimate that there are problems and discord between PBO and Bill Clinton. Harvey shut that down too. Charlie then asked him who he was closer to, Pres. Obama or Bill Clinton and who he liked better. Harvey looked at him with a WTF are you trying to pull expression. He said he feels he’s very close to PBO and he likes both men equally. He then said just as he interviewed Clinton, after PBO serves his two terms, he would love to interview PBO too. He made sure to emphasize that he believes PBO will win another term because his vision for America is the right one and Romney will lead us on a path to economic destruction.
Harvey was great!
He is great! A true Obamabot! Back in 2008, wasn’t he on Team HRC?
UT should be a Reporter! You are that good.
UT…will you help me draft a petition to Color of Change regarding the Repubs sabotaging the economy and PBO on purpose? I could really use your help! I think I started it on yesterday’s Rise and Shine…It occurred to me that these men that purposefully planned for the President and the country to fail owe the American people more than an apology. They all thought that they would never be caught. They should not be entitled to their pension or benefits that are paid by the taxpayers that they were trying to screw over. They have stopped important bills, judicial placements, and purposefully tried to harm this country for their own love of power more than love of country. As many people and families have been devastated by this, especially the minority communities, they were happy to continue with their treasonous ways. You have a way with words….what do you say?
Can I research Color of Change a little bit more and see how they normally go about the petition process? Then I’ll get back to you so you can expound more on your ideas, and what you want the petition to look like.
Just keep reminding me please.
UT, even the tv people you us to respect and assume had some darn sense is losing it. I would expect better from Charlie Rose. This is what you expect from Piers Morgan. I’m glad to hear Harvey was great.
I’m not at all surprised about Charlie Rose..in fact I would be surprised if he didn’t carry water like a champ for the gopricks.
Excellent – we need more like him.
I REALLY have to get work done today but may I go on record as saying, FLOTUS has the COOLEST handbags ever!

I got so tired of all the radio whiners, I had to give some of them the boot. I did the same w/ cable and broadcast news. My local paper is slowly becoming a right-wing rag so I might just cancel my subscription as well. The pandering of the Corporate Media for that Cit U. cash is so obvious. I get most of my news from the Net now-a- days. I shoudn’t have to do that.
I hear you. I cancelled my paper subscription when they endorsed McCain in ’08. WTF!
CNN is all over this Dream Act anouncment, MSNBainC, not so much.
Haven’t heard anything about this but am curious.
The Obama Effect is the comedic story of a middle-aged insurance salesman John Thomas, played by actor Charles S. Dutton, who, after a serious health scare, becomes obsessed with President Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign. At a time when he is struggling to make change in his own life, his wife, played by actress Vanessa Bell Calloway, hopes that his willingness to act and get Barack Obama elected will help him make positive changes for himself.
The film co-stars comedian Kat Williams as MLK, a Republican relative who is initially opposed to voting for a Democratic candidate, and actress Meagan Good plays Tamika, John Thomas’s estranged daughter.
The Obama Effect is scheduled to be released in select theaters on July 13th via AMC Theaters
In honor of THE DREAMERS!!! A Brand New Day!!
IN AMERICA WE DREAM BIG DREAMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How you like them apples, to all those people that wring their hands over Team Chicago’s handling of President Obama reelection?
I just got on my computer to see the big news.. every single day I’m grateful for President Obama.. today is one of those days that makes me t0x more grateful for his good will, smarts and decency.
Why Obama’s Decision To Stop Deporting DREAM-Eligible Youth Is Good For The Economy
The Congressional Budget Office (CBO) estimated that the DREAM Act — which Republicans blocked in 2010 — would increase federal revenues by $1.7 billion over the next 10 years, reducing federal deficits by $2.2 billion over that time. DREAM-eligible students would generate between $1.4 and $3.6 trillion in taxable income over the course of their working lives, according to a study by UCLA’s North American Integration and Development Center.
DREAM-eligible youth could also help fill the 16 million shortfall of college-educated workers that is expected to hit the U.S. by 2025, and with 31.5 percent of science and engineering graduates coming from Latino backgrounds, Obama’s decision could add 252,000 new scientists, engineers, and technical workers to the nation’s dwindling supply in those fields.
The decision will help raise wages for American workers too. “As long as a cheap, compliant pool of undocumented labor is available, employers have every reason to take advantage of the situation, keeping wages as low as possible,” Cristina Jimenez wrote in the American Prospect in 2010. “Only when undocumented immigrants have the ability to exercise complete workplace rights will they help exert upward pressure on wages and labor standards that will benefit other workers.”
What a move, now let the MSM choke on it over the weekend.
Good for Ed Kilgore at Washington Monthly. Similar sentiments were expressed yesterday by PM Carpenter.

After all their gaffes over this and now today’s announcement, I’m LOLz!!!!
They don’t even really try to hide their ignorance. Just pathetic!
This is the speech I heard yesterday: washingtonmonthly.com/political-anim…— (@FlowerInFaith) June 15, 2012
It wasn’t a failure. I email Jonathan Alter and ask him one simple question, What happen to the day when the media reported the news and didn’t feel the need to give us their two bit opinion. All the media do now is have these two bit pundits analysis speeches like it was a football game. We can think for ourselves, we don’t need them telling us what was said, what should have been said, how long the speech was? We can think for ourselves.
In terms of news, President Obama driving the bus today.
— @jimacostacnn via web
And Williard drove his bus into his Grand Canyon of Lies. Good Samaritans are throwing his staffers more rope.
Dream Act is now trending on twitter. Twitter is a powerful tool. They had the story before any cable pundit on TV.
Did you see my question to you upthread?
Political motivation aside, Arizona’s law was viewed as an attempt to deport the state to economic prosperity. But SB 1070 only worsened Arizona’s fiscal woes, according to several studies. In the few months after its passage, Arizona’s economy lost $141 million, including $45 million in hotel and lodging cancellations and $96 million in lost commercial revenue, according to a joint study by the Center for American Progress and the Immigration Policy Center. A drop in tourism also resulted in an estimated 2,761 jobs lost, resulting in $253 million lost in economic output. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit blocked most of SB 1070’s provisions. But if ever fully implemented, the study adds, the law would eliminate an estimated 580,000 jobs for immigrant and native-born Arizonians, shrinking the state’s economy by $48.8 billion. These figures don’t include the $1.9 million Arizona has spent to defend the state from lawsuits, which have forced Gov. Jan Brewer to establish a legal defense fund for contributions.
Here is what I simply cannot fathom. Guess what — I heard a few things in yesterday’s speech that I actually didn’t like. PBO did not emphasize certain issues and accomplishments that I think he should emphasize, in ways that I would emphasize them.
So-fucking what? The purpose of the speech was to redirect the message. Today, despite the liberal whiners, we are talking about the “CHOICE” between two visions of America. PBO took another, quite effective in my opinion, clearly defined tack on WHY the economy isn’t better than it is. And an effective frame of what Romney would do to the country. And he effectively articulated something that we really need the President to say: “This time they mean it. This is what they will do and this will be the consequences. Help me keep that from happening.”
I can look at what was accomplished in the speech although PBO did not take my ‘advice’ on what matters to me personally, assuming that every American voter knows what I know, believes what I believe, and understands.
Why is this so fucking hard for progressive pundits? Why oh why throw the baby out with the bathwater?
The progressive pundits do not have to actually make decisions…all they really are is professional critics…..
The Choice: Wall St. vs. Main St., Millionaires vs. Middle Class, Forward with President Obama or Backward with Romney/Bush 2.0 The speech accomplished the purpose. The election is about a real choice of the future or return to a failed past.
I’m trying to find the exact wording of the phrase he used about no spin……just facts. Something like that. I’m looking for a transcript of the speech.

Bobfr thanks for humoring me. I know that we’ve had this discussion before but I’m having a hard time making the jump to treason. The other side got together and said let’s block the agenda of a Democratic President. That’s not new. It’s been done by members of the same party. Carter and a Democratic Congress with Ted Kennedy leading the charge. Running in the primary against his own President left little doubt he wanted Carter to fail.
McConnell said on video he wants PBO to be one term. He hasn’t walked it back. No one in the White House has said anything about treason or sedition and they probably had this information before anyone else. PBO in a Rolling Stone interview lamented that it was an effective strategy.
But for me the real key here is Harry Reid. He enabled McConnell’s agenda by adhering to 60 votes for everything. That’s unprecedented. Even when he had an 18 vote majority Reid acted like Democrats were in the minority. He refused to do anything about filibuster reform and just recently had to apologize to Freshman Dems for it. So much more stuff could have gotten passed. If the GOP had a meeting on inauguration night then Harry must have been there serving the drinks
Well, all I know is that willful actions that undermine the security, fiscal solvency of America and that has caused and continues to cause incalculable harm to millions of Americans can go by whatever name you want to call it.
Oh geez….this is from Political Carnival, talking about the Dream announcement and the fact that next Friday, PBO addresses a Latino organization…and Mitt addresses the SAME organization…ON THURSDAY. LOL
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano was to announce the new policy Friday, one week before President Barack Obama plans to address the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials’ annual conference in Orlando, Fla. Republican presidential challenger Mitt Romney is scheduled to speak to the group on Thursday.
but….but…. it’s political! It’s just to get votes!
Like purposely hurting the American economy to get votes?
Let’s take a trip through history: Kissinger sabotaging peace until a Republican was in office.
Reagan/Bush making sure hostages not released on Carter’s watch.
Decimating an entire covert anti-terrorist organization in order to shut up a political critic. We will never know the extent of damage done by Bush/Cheney to Valerie Plame’s organization and how many innocent people died because of their craven political hunger.
Treasonous bastards. All of them.

An aide to Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), who has been working on a scaled-back DREAM Act, tells TPM the Obama administration did not consult him ahead of its Friday announcement that it will seek to halt deportation of some young illegal immigrants and grant work visas.
The aide emails:
[W]e’re looking into it. We first heard about it this morning. [T]hey didn’t ask us for any input despite all the work we’ve done on the issue
HAHAHA! Since when does the POTUS have to consult with a rep about a decision on ANYTHING?????????????
The President proposed a Dream Act that’s been languishing in Congress for three years. They did a lot of work on that. Now Rubio knows what it feels like to have your hard work discounted without any scrutiny – and at least Rubio’s being ignored by the President of the United States. Someone worthy.
Yup…head’s are exploding
More of that liberal media you hear about…
A senior Romney strategist offered no apologies this morning on behalf of the candidate who often holds closed-to-press meetings with voters as well as meetings with congressional leaders with which the traveling press is unaware until their conclusion.
Asked why the roundtable conversations Romney has prior to most of his public events with middle-class families or business owners are not open to the media, senior strategist Russ Schriefer responded bluntly, “Because they’re private.”
“I beg my forgiveness but having the media there doesn’t really make it an open and honest conversation,” said Schriefer, who held a briefing for the press at the campaign’s Boston headquarters before the launch of a five-day, six-state bus tour across the battleground states.
Romney has started weaving the stories of those individuals he meets behind closed doors into his stump speech.
Pressed further on why Romney’s meetings in the past few weeks with Speaker of the House John Boehner and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell were kept from the press until the politicians’ offices on the Hill released details, Schriefer was similarly unapologetic.
This is the Cheney style of governing, and Romney would only increase his secrecy once in the Oval Office. It surprises me that all those crying for greater transparency from President Obama – one of the most transparent Presidents – don’t have a problem with Romney’s lies and secret agenda. Romney has even said that he won’t release policy details until AFTER he’s President. Wow.
All MSM “journalists” should get this!
Following Obama’s Move, How Will Mitt Romney Break His Silent Treatment Of Immigration?
Evan McMorris-Santoro- June 15, 2012, 11:07 AM 1886President Obama pushed the immigration debate back into the campaign spotlight Friday when he announced an executive order that appears to be modeled on the DREAM Act. The move means big, sweeping changes for millions of children of illegal immigrants — and it effectively puts Mitt Romney in a box.
Romney has pledged to veto the version of the DREAM Act passed by the House and killed by conservatives in the Senate in 2010, and has drawn the ire of Hispanic activists by packing his primary campaign full of advisers and supporters hailing from the anti-immigration right.
In recent days, Romney’s stepped up his outreach efforts to Hispanics, a demographic that’s still largely uninterested in his candidacy. But he’s done it by avoiding any discussion of immigration at all costs — and has declined to tailor a campaign message specifically to the Hispanic community. When he spoke to the conservative Latino Coalition last month, he didn’t bring up immigration. He keeps his message to Hispanics focused solely on the economy.
But Obama’s mini-DREAM Act move will almost certainly force Romney’s hand.
Some Republican consultants weighed in to TPM on how Romney should begin a discussion about a hot-button issue he has expressly avoided.
Morning all. What a beautiful first couple we have! Thanks for posting the West Wing Week, Betty White is a national treasure.

I think he’s having an egomanical hissy fit that the POTUS didn’t consult with him first….yeah, his head’s exploding now:)
I find that absolutely hi-larious.
Because Bush would have consulted with Joe Biden or some other VP hopeful the summer of 2008 on something as politically explosive as immigration policy.

Yes, as a matter of fact, it has. He’s whining that PBO didn’t consult him. BAAAWWAHAAA!!
A masterstroke. The howling from the thugs and their asskissing media would be fun to watch next week.
I can’t tell you how much this is going to impact the conversation. The Corner has been turned.
Ok, this weekend—in which my only obligation is to get wifey’s car smog checked—I’m going to have to finish my essay for TPV comparing PBO’s strategy to Hannibal’s at the Battle of Cannae. The problem with being a history geek is that everything reminds you of past events.
And everything is revisionist!

heh. How rude of PBO. Didn’t he get the memo that he’s not allowed to do anything so his enemies can say he doesn’t do anything?
The President’s campaign is ten steps ahead of robme. Awesome!!
hey all – great news today re Dream. Plus Willard is on Bob Schieffer on Sunday – so let’s all bombard Bob with questions related to al the LIES Willard has been spouting all over the place – questions that we think any responsible journalist should ask and if he doesn’t then we should call him out for being a lousy ‘reporter’ who is incapable of doing his job. Let’s let him know that the public is sick of Romney not being called to account for all of his blatant falsehoods and his failure to do that will reflect badly on his legacy. My theory is show hosts are raging narcissists and the only thing that would motivate them is the thought of screwing up their legacy. They certainly don’t care about the public these days – but self interest in reaction to accusations.requests via twitter bombing may produce a more favourable result.
Maybe we could send Schieffer afew questions to ask Mitt. Like what is his plan to create jobs? Where is the tax returns? Do he really think teachers, policemen, fire fighters aren’t real Americans? Why does he lie so much? I plan to send these questions to Face the Nation.
I tweeted Bob Schieffer a simple question to ask Romney: How do your policies differ from George W. Bush? Tweety asked the same question of Michael Steele yesterday. He got all flustered and couldn’t give a direct answer.
Great question Bill R.
Great question Bill R. Another question that Romney should be asked is: With all the tax cuts the so called “job creators” have gotten, how come they haven’t created jobs?
Do you have contact info for Schieffer? I’d like him to ask Romney if he really thinks that someone of such questionable character should be President. Whether he agrees that lying with every breath is really a character trait we should look for in a President. And why Romney feels he needs to lie, if his whole case is that the President has implemented disastrous policies, then why isn’t he presenting those policies honestly instead of lying about the President’s record, and presenting alternative policies for scrutiny and just letting the facts speak for themselves?

I would wager on barackobama.com
Just found the video but I admit I don’t have a ton of time to look for it right now. Not that important.
You are a treasure! Thanks.

Fox Latino VS Fox Nation on Obama's immigration decision: bit.ly/LZMZNS twitpic.com/9wpoms via @TwitPic— Donna NoShock (@NoShock) June 15, 2012
THIS RIGHT HERE.
Never mind that the photo on the Fox Nation page is of grown men, and doesn’t address the fact that this new directive is towards children only.
Exactly they pick some “scary” non-related photo of Latinos and compare that to the great, law-abiding young people that just want an opportunity to fullfil their dream to be a US citizen without living in fear of deportation. Fox should be ashamed but they have no journalistic conscience so this is what we get from them. Unfortunately, it’s to be expected.
I love what the President has done here. If Robme won’t talk about his policies, then the President will goat him into it. I hope this is what we see for the next four months, one issue after another. Those who are one issue voters, whether it be abortion, gay rights, healthcare, etc. need to think about the big picture and the contrast between these two candidates. if they do, there will only one choice for President and that’s President Obama.
Jackie 4 Obama, I agree with you. When people say it’s all about jobs, I say you better think. Yes jobs are important. Very important, but so is people counting on their Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security. These extreme radical Republicans want to do away with those things, and Mitt Romney is right there with them. So yes we want and need a stronger economy. But voters better look at the entire pictures. I care about education.
You betcha anniebella. Wake up America!
The President said a few weeks ago that he’s looking forward to the campaign, because he’s got truth on his side. That is the truth!
People are so happy about this decision by PBO and tweeting about MR “severely”:

Not sure if anyone has posted this yet, but i just saw this and as someone who likes the idea behind PBO´s DREAM Act so much that she made it a topic in her English class as an aspect of the American Dream topic, I liked this:
The person from Arizona is from Gilbert, and was interviewed earlier this week by a local news station. She said she went on the website to donate $5. I could not believe it. For all the work we do and all the money that we donate, and the person that wins is presumably a first time donor! Life is just not fair.
re-posting my comment from last night. at 7 :15 PM….how true …how true…
Ha…. One of our vendors just came in to pick up a check ( He is Hispanic ) and I had the TV on…. Rev Al…. and Rubio’s picture came on.
He started yelling at the TV and swearing……calling him the ” F” word…. The Hispanic hate him because he is trying to take away the child credit for children that are born here but there parents are not citizens…even though they are here legally….own a business and pay taxes.
The gauntlet has been thrown. Does mehmney, the coward, has the balls to pick it up ? What with having suck up to his racist base and the latinos, he is in a nutcracker. It’s test for his dishonesty.
At least a few of the MSM crowd appear to be waking up:
New York Times: "Mr. Romney’s entire campaign rests on a foundation of short, utterly false sound bites." nytimes.com/2012/06/15/opi…— Keith Boykin (@keithboykin) June 15, 2012
He still has a flicker of sanity left.
I always think of McCain as Darth Vader at the end of “Return of the Jedi”, struggling to regain his lost humanity.
Good analogy:) Aside from this issue, I think it’s too little, too late for the bitter, angry old cloud yeller
The Romney campaign may believe it can wrap the American flag around his Wall Street associations in the general election. If so, they are probably in for a surprise. Most Americans, struggling to pay their bills and find jobs, aren’t likely to equate anyone with a Harvard MBA with our Founding Fathers. In fact, most believe the folks at the big investment banks played a major role in screwing up the economy. With good reason, by the way, since they did. Not too long ago, in fact, conservatives also railed against billion-dollar bailouts of Merrill Lynch and Goldman Sachs. And to this day, astonishingly, more Americans blame Bush (and free market Republicans) than President Obama for our current economic mess. The question Americans are in the process of asking about Mitt Romney is not whether capitalism is a good thing, but whether he is a Mr. Fix-It or a Mr. Screwed-It-Up. A Warren Buffet or an Ivan Boesky. How the majority of Americans answer those questions will decide the election.
Romney’s team, then, is going to have to do more than label any attack on Wall Street an attack on America. Instead he needs to differentiate himself (and Bain Capital) quickly from the Hank Paulsons and Jamie Dimons of the world. He needs to demonstrate, in a systematic way, how his efforts created new companies and new jobs. Oh, and it might help to get his facts straight too. The last thing anyone wants to be in this election, in this economy, is the candidate of Wall Street.
Indeed. Last night, someone posted a Political propaganda piece that surmised that the First Dog, Bo, may be a negative for the President, because people who are struggling won’t want to see Bo frolicking on the White House lawn. The truth is, I’d rather see the dog frolicking, than dressage horses frolicking for the Romney elite at a cost of millions of dollars, surrounded by the Wall Street gamblers that are funding the GOP for promises of de-regulation.
Heads up everyone, will be back later:
